Very nice .. won't move on if everyone doesn't understand..easy tests..lots of quizzes...calls on everyone .. loves participation
Moves too fast. The whole class is doing poorly. The material is difficult.
I THINK HER TEST WERE A LITTLE TOO HARD FOR THE CLASS. a lot of quizzes!! SHE IS A PICKY GRADER IF YOU DON'T SHOW WORK!! I WISHED I HAD CHOOSEN AN EASIER TEACHER. STILL THOUGH IF YOU STUDY AND KNOW THE MATERIAL YOU CAN GET at least a B .
Loves English more than math, i.e. she writes every single word on the board. She likes to talk about water skiing experiences and estimation. Her talking is like a lullaby...it will put you right to sleep.
Very hard and boring teacher. If you are not good in math don't take her.
i hate this class, you will be bored to tears...WRITES EVERYTHING OUT!

One word.... BRUTAL. At this level (Discrete Mathematics) she is ruthless and belittles the class' intelligence often - EX "Since the class has problems with straight-forward calculations..." Way too fast. Writes faster on the chalk board than
She's a total right-brain and can't explain things in terms you'll understand, but she is very willing to help you out and she is a nice lady. And her name is ROSEMARY awww.
lectures too much, but very helpful if you see her for extra help. whole class is doing poorly. whole class participates. hate the way tests/quizzes are set up--cover cover more than one chapter, days after we've moved on. gets confusing easily.
If you are not good at math then dont take her class. The entire class is doing poorly and I dont think she cares to much, but she is a nice lady
do not take her unless you have a pretty solid math background. i am pretty good in math and im struggling. if youre like the girls who sit in front of me and would rather talk about their trip to acapulco than listen, than i would suggest not taking her.
So what I took the dummy course. But she's a good teacher and knows what she's talking about. She's very open to help if you need her too but math still isn't my thing. She passed me so I have only good things to say about her.
She was a FANTASTIC teacher!!!! Math is NOT my strong point at all and I was able to pass both her classes. In fact I liked her so much I took her the very next semester. Always willing to give extra help to anyone especially those who try!
great big fat F, and i'm an "a-b student". She doesn't explain anything, and the book isn't that great either...really, don't take this class if you want to actually be taught math!
Very methodic. Writes everything down but it walks you through step by step if you're unclear. Her door is always open you just have to walk in. Makes you work, but supportive. Wants you to have a good basic foundation. Too much material on tests.

Class is very boring and the tests are too involved she tries to cover more material than she should but is helpful I got a C and didn't even have the book.
Brutal if you have to take MAT107 take Matus. Sullivan sticks to her schedule no matter how confused and lost the class may be. Not a lot of personality either.
this lady.. im telling you-she has no idea whats going on. she gives out the homework before you even learn it. and when you ask questions, she doestn really answer them. the tests arent too bad though, and she doestn collect homework. but homework is the only thing that keeps you in line. so DO IT!
this lady has no personality at all! she moves through things realllly quickly and tries to cover A LOT in a short period of time. do the homework and you will do fine, the tests aren't too bad.
Moves very fast and homework is always ahead of the lesson. No personality.
Moves very fast and never explains things in class. Expects you to have previously had Calc before you take her calc class
She is very helpful but you must ask for her help. And she does have a personality but it is more subdued than an extroverted personality. She is a very nice woman.
Sullivan's teaching style is great. By the time you take her tests the problems are a combination of everything you learned in one problem. Let alone you'll be lucky to get done. Unless you can excel at math avoid her like the plaque.
Great teacher! Math is a harder subject for me, but with her as a teacher I learned it very easily. She is very clear and explains every step through each problem. I would definetly recommend her to anyone.
Thsi was a college algebra and trig class. Pretty easy professor, knows her stuff, seems to enjoy it, but she is straight to the point. If your not good at math the class can tend to move quickly. Go to class, pay attention, and do the problems even if she doesn't collect them and you'll do fine. No personality however
She is a very helpful teacher. She is blunt and to the point, not there to talk about anything other than what shes teaching, but will explain everything in depth and is more than happy to answer any questions at all.
The worst teacher I have ever had. Do not take!
I always had straight A's in math. At first when I was taking this class, I thought it'd be easy. Now I'm PRAYING for a C. First two tests had plenty of non-math problems. Third test, no one finished it and we got a really small curve. Can't use shortcuts, and you still might lose points even if you get the answer right.
What word can I say impossible. She is a nice lady and means well but her tests are to hard. Not only that but her grading procedures are also very unfair. If you are a math wizz take her but if not avoid her like the plaque.
Prof. Sullivan knows the material. She writes everything on the board and her tests come directly from practice problems and problems done in class. There are no surprises on the tests. Do not miss a class because she likes to get a lot in during one class period. She explains everything fully and in complete detail. I liked her as a teacher.
very nice and will always help you in office hrs. goes really fast in class, tests are WAY TOO difficult and LOOONG. 5 page tests for a 50 minute class! curves a teeny weeny bit but it barely helps. ive never had a problem w math till this class i was in office hrs every week and got a C+ try to avoid if you can. better with lower level math class
I use to love math, not so much anymore. The quizes are given at the end of class usually with less then 10 minutes to complete. So this means that she fills your head with a ton of new information (because from the time she enters the class room until the time she leaves, she's writing on the board) and then expects you to take a quiz.
Hard Hard class!! she goes really fast through the material and doesnt really explain it that well. For someone who has to take this class and isnt good at math, she's not very helpful in explaining what to do. Shes better then some of the other professors but needs to slow down and remember shes teaching to non math majors.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST PERSON I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. KNOWS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. if you see that you have a zstaff for any math and it switches to her, by all means take someone else. if you do not have time to sit in her office all day, good luck with even bothering to come to class. tests are HW that are handed out are IMPOSSIBLE. chalk mustache.
Abosolutely the worst teacher. Goes way too fast. Either take notes or listen but you can'y do both. Attendance nazi. Class is ridiculous.
if you have time to go to her office hours and you are good at math, then take her, if not do not take her. she goes so fast, you can't follow her, when you go to her office hours she does help you but if you don't go then don't expect to pass unless your a math genius
WORST MATH TEACHER. If you ask questions, she'll make an ass out of you. She's unhelpful, and rude to her students. Writes too fast, and always has chalk on her face.
She is boring and moves fairly quick so if you are not good at math, find another professor.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS CLASS! She teaches extremely fast and make sooooooo many mistakes... if you dont't catch them, she won't either! and if you go to her office hours she seems to be rushing you like she as better things to do then help her students!
Absolute horrible teacher. Doesn't care about any of her students. Fly's through class and doesn't even teach anything. I tried talking to her and she was rushing me out. How can you do good with a teacher like that when your not that good at algebra to begin with. Hate this class!!!
I have taken this professor for calculus I and nature of math. I am indeed a math major but have found that she has increased my interest in the subject material. I have gone to her office for help and have felt rushed away. She only allows to absences for a four credit class and if you miss a class it is brutal because she does go over a lot.
A pretty good teacher! Goes kinda fast, but pretty clear for the most part. Just go to class, take notes, do homework and ask questions and will result in a good grade. adds curve to most tests
Dr. Sullivan is the best math teacher I've had during my college career. She goes through problems step by step, explaining everything, and does plenty of examples. She involves the class to encourage participation. Attendance policy is strict, but it's there for a reason. If you need help, see her during office hours- she is extremely helpful.
I heard this professor was so hard but if you go to class and actually pay attention the tests are pretty easy. Just do the review sheets she gives out.
moves through the material so fast, classes are non-stop taking notes, never gives explanations, homework and tests were hard, she's an easy grader though, but still a terrible teacher
Worst math professor I've had, and I'm a math major. I've taken courses on the material she's supposed to be teaching, and after she "teaches" it I'm most confused than before she tried. Talks down to you if you don't understand, refuses to help when asked, and tests material in a way she's never presented it before.
hard class with a horrible teacherworst teacher in math history. all she does is talks and shakes her head yes like everyone understands.... when no body does
I loved Dr. Sullivan. Sure the class isn't exactly exciting, but she does a good job of explaining things, showing you how to use your calculator, and in general preparing you for the final. She is extremely fair when it comes to your grade. Attendance policy is a bit strict. Overall, I would take her again in a heartbeat.
This teacher honestly is horrible for statistics. I don't know what the previous person was talking about but this woman does not explain anything I had to teach myself every chapter because she sucked so much. Take McClintock instead if possible and AVOID Rosemary Sullivan at all costs
She is a really sweet person but not a great teacher. She absolutly FLIES through the material and you have no idea what she is talking about. There is way too much material covered in such a small amount of time. She goes through practice problems in the book but the problems on the test and quizzies areCOMPLETELY different. You must teach yourself
Class is definitely mandatory if you want to pass. She flies through material and powerpoints without seeing if students understand. If you ask questions, she acts like its a pain to answer you. Instead of going to her for help, just do the online practice problems. Luckily the final was pretty easy
I thought Dr Sullivan was great. If you go to class, pay attention, and participate, she is more than willing to help. It doesn't take that much effort to succeed in this class. Do all the assignments and read the book after her lectures and it is a breeze. I ended up with a 99% average.
all tests are like the webwork, so if you know the webwork problems then you'll be fine... Upper level math course so the material is hard. Sullivan writes all notes out on the board and she goes quickly. If you do have questions regarding algebraic concepts, she does make you feel stupid for asking.
She will redo a problem 5 times bc she cant get it right and students have to constantly correct her. She will laugh at you if you ask a dumb quesiton. Your grade in the class is 3 tests and webwork, no quizzes. She is not personable and started learning our names half way thru the semester. Final was impossible; problems we never even saw before.
She is a very sweet person AND the best teacher I have had so far in West Chester! I love attending her classes- always prepared for class, knows how to keep your interest and explain her material very well. Highly recommend!
SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER! she makes things so confusing and impossible. Her tests are absolutely horrible. She is a nice lady but cannot teach on a human level
She is extremely boring while teaching but the class is pretty easy. She only takes attendance sometimes and always answers emails. Quiz basically once a week and she drops the lowest score. She has 3 exams and a final and always gives reviews before hand which are almost exactly the same as the test just with different numbers. Do the reviews!
Run far and fast from this professoor. Her clarity is terrible. She rushes through notes-- students cant grasp her concepts in class. its all a copy job. Her HW's have no relation to the notes and are impossible. Her tests also have little relation to her notes. She is rude and will belittle people whom ask questions. run.
Decent professor. Pay attention in class and you'll do fine. There's not a lot of mandatory homework, just webwork. Test questions are straight from the textbook.
She was pretty good as far as professors go. Her classes felt rushed sometimes, but there was a lot of material to cover in the class and she did her best to get everything while making sure students did well. Her tests were similar to the homework problems.
She is really smart but gives confusing notes. She gives you a study guide (pretest) before the test. It is exactly like the test, the numbers are just different and the tests are multiple choice. Her class is really easy but you will have teach yourself somethings.
Worst teacher ever
dr sullivan is pretty easy to pass if you go to class and understand the material. she writes a lot on the board -- not all of which is important. gives online homeworks every couple days so buying the online code is absolutely necessary. do the homeworks and decent on tests and its not tough at all
Incredibly vague during lectures. She would read us the theorem, give one example, and move on to the next theorem. Would avoid at all costs.
The class is boring, but she explains everything very clearly. In fact, it was a little too much repetition for me. I took this as a gen ed, and it was pretty easy. Make sure you do the online homework and it will really help your grade. The textbook is only essential for the online code.
I am usually very good at mathematics, but she mad this class terrible for me. I took her for MAT 121 and succeed, so I figured I would take her for MAT 161, but it was a completely different turnout. She gives weekly homework, which is like nothing you do in class and the exams are very hard.
Though Dr. Sullivan might not come off as warm and fuzzy she really is nice person. She's a good teacher with high expectations. Be prepared to show up to class mentally checked-in; she'll go around the rooming asking students to answer questions as she lectures. Keep up with the material or you'll very quickly get left behind. You'll learn a lot.
You must be mentally checked in during class bc she goes around asking random people for the answer. She's not mean, but not exactly nice either. Sometimes if you ask questions she kinda makes you feel like an idiot for asking them. The only thing you really get graded on is 4 exams plus the final. She makes u buy the access code for online hw.
Hard class. If u miss u won't pass, her test are hard, and not that much prep time for them.
Dr. Sullivan's 421 class is one the harder courses I've taken in college, but she is fair. She is a hard teacher, and is lecture heavy, however if you demonstrate the desire to learn and care about your grade and the subject, she will help you. Her office hours are useful. Be aware though, read the syllabus to clarify exam dates, she wont say.
Awesome! The best professor Ive ever taken! Although the class was very difficult, the lectures were very helpful. Do the homework and study it well! If youre a hard worker, youll love the class as well.
She does the easy problems in class and when homework or tests come it will be a problem she never showed you. She changed homework deadlines after posting them. Her syllabus does not have dates on it. She does not tell you what section/ Chapter you are working on and jumps around section to section. Over all very confusing lectures.
Would never take her again if my life depended on it. She moves way too fast and she's the worst math prof Ive ever had.
Professor Sullivan is awesome. This class is not easy and there are a lot of subjects to learn. Basically every class she will talk about a new subject, so I wouldn't miss a class. There is online homework, which I enjoyed because it gives us a chance to practice after class and we are able to see what problems are wrong or right online.
Although she is very nice the class is very difficult. You look down for even a split second and she has half the board filled up and for me at least I've gotten lost. Do not recommend her because the homeworks might be easy and the problems she does in class are fairly easy todo, the exams are very much difficult and the problems are very complex.
Prof. Sullivan is a professor that wants you to understand everything immediately after it is written down and gives you no opportunity to process the material. Her tests are long and she gives an unfair amount of time to take them. She lectures the whole time of class leaving no group learning opportunities. She is very test and homework heavy.
I've come here because WCUPA conveniently doesn't have a semester review for Mrs. Sullivan. She is condescending when people ask questions and a lot of the WebAssign questions are not relevant to the tests. It's a shame that the worst professors have tenure while the good ones are on the chopping block. It is a problem endemic to WCUPA.
Wow I still haven't finished my course for the semesters and all I can say is, this was one of the worst classes I've ever had to take. With very limited class time everything for a whole chapter is put into a 1 hour lecture. We will go over something once and never review it again, yet it will come up on a test.
Dr. Sullivan is not the greatest teacher. If I didn't take statistics in high school, I likely would be failing this class. I don't like the way she teaches and I think it would be really difficult for somebody to understand what she is teaching if they weren't really good at math. I wouldn't take her again.
Worst professor Ive had. You never do the same topic 2 days in a row. Homeworks are nothing like what you learn in class. And tests are too long for the amount of time you have and nothing like the study guides provided for them. Speeds past lecture all of class time no time for group work or to even talk to other students. Do not recommend.
Great professor who really cares if you put in the effort. She is very helpful during office hours and appreciates you asking questions.
the material was taught really fast. thankfully this class was mostly review of stuff i learned in high school, but if it was my first time learning it, i would have struggled. you pretty much have to attend class or else you'll have no clue what's going on. the final exam is cumulative.
She's a nice person if you are respectful. Her lectures are taught pretty fast and it will be hard if you miss class. Tests are not too hard if you do the reviews.
This is a fast-paced and difficult class. Get ready to spend 2-3 hours a day on homework, studying, and debating why you're a math major. 80 percent of your final grade comes from 3 exams. She'll only post the reviews for the exams 5 days before the exam, leaving you to scramble. Her office hours are helpful, so attend when necessary!
Absolute worst class I have ever experienced. I have never received an F in any class until I took this class. I had her my first semester of college and DO NOT MAKE the same mistake I did by taking this class. I tried and even attended office hours and still could not put it together. Teaches very fast and theres little to no in class work. GL!
I respect Dr. Sullivan a lot. She's very knowledgeable and is helpful in office hours. However, I have never studied for a class more than this one. I went to office hours, did extra homework problems, and studied with classmates and I still did not understand the content. I would encourage people to take this class with a different professor.
Attendance is virtually mandatory, and you WILL fall behind very quickly if you miss a day. Apart from that, though, she's a good professor. She's good at teaching content in a way that is easily understood, her office hours are worth your time, and both her exams and the reviews she makes for them are fair enough even if hard.
There is no reason that a gen ed should be this difficult. It's very clear that someone is taking their jobs a little too seriously... you miss one class and you're behind for the rest of the semester. Avoid this class if you can.
This professor is not good at teaching. Your grade is only made up of what you get on exams. She does not teach the material effectively and more than half of my class dropped because they were not going to pass.
Would recommend avoiding her if possible I've never done so terribly in a math class, I should have dropped it. She gives example problems during lecture without explaining how to do the math involved, then expects you to do the most difficult problems ever. Majority of the grade is based on the 4 exams -- did not find the WebWork homework helpful.
Please avoid this professor like the plague. If you miss a class, you WILL NOT pass this course. She does not use d2l at all, she teaches way too fast, there is no in-class discussion time or in-class work. The entire course is based on taking notes. The only grades you receive are from 4 exams, and a couple online assignments.
I have never failed an exam before this class. Going to a tutor twice a week as well as office hours was not enough to save my GPA. She moves quickly through material and onto the next subject before you are even done writing the first. There is no time for questions. She gets visibly annoyed when you ask them. She is also disorganized.
Dr. Sullivan was a good professor. She knows the material well and makes it easy to understand. If you show up and do the work, you'll pass no problem. Class is almost completely graded on three exams and a final, but the exams aren't too difficult. I'd defiantly take her again.
She's a good person, but I feel that she would be better teaching a higher advanced math course than something like Calc 2. Her teaching methods aren't the best and she does go really fast during lectures. I would say study the homework and go to her office hours and you might get a C at best.
Dr. Sullivan was the worst professor. Terrible with partial credit and gave ridiculously hard exams with almost nothing to practice. We were graded on 4 exams and homework worth very little. Half my class failed or dropped the class, I would not recommend her to anyone taking calc 2. Little opportunity to pass the class if you fail the first exam.
WHATEVER YOU DO. Do NOT take this "teacher" ever. She is a tier one level embarrassment to all math teachers on this planet. She can make the simplest thing to understand, 10x difficult for no reason at all. Terrible at explaining the topic at hand. Does NOT care if her students don't understand, goes through material very fast with few examples.
I loved taking her class! She is super sweet and will help you with anything that is unclear, but only if you go out of your way to ask for help. She helped me to pass this class with an A. Very nice lady, highly recommend taking her class. I took MAT143 Calculus.
She provides study guides for the exams but makes the test questions 10x harder. Literally does not care if you do not pass her class. Over half of the class dropped after taking the first exam. I spent hours studying and put in the work and have still never done this poorly in a class before. Whatever you do don't take this teacher.
Dr. Sullivan is very intelligent and has high standards. I spent most of the semester being incredibly intimidated by her. She will not hold your hand through this class, and this class is extremely difficult. That being said, I think she made me a better math student by pushing me. You need to study and put the work in. Do the practice problems!
Homework and review questions are 10x harder than what she does in class. Calculus will always be hard but she does nothing to try and make you understand it more.
Dr. Sullivan is all time bad. She appears to have some ego issues, many times it felt like she was showing off her knowledge rather than being a TEACHER. Saw her snap multiple times at a few girls in office hours, borderline harassing. After viewing public salary records its clear why Dr. S is paid very low compared to many other STEM professors.
Lectures are disconnected from homework, exams, and study guides. Study guides do not prepare you well for the tests at all. Long and difficult tests in short class periods. Don't take if you have the option to.
MAT422* By far one of the best math professors at WCU, who's invested in your success. She does a good job explaining concepts and forming connections with past material. The people who complain about her are also the ones who fall behind then don't attend her office hours. **Her tests are IDENTICAL to the practice problems.** Do them
Online homework often has topics not discussed in class and obscure and difficult problems. No test study guides. Exams are majority of grade. Flunk 1 or 2 exams and youre cooked. Grades never updated in D2L so you never know where you stand at any point in semester. Definitely better options for professors at WCU besides dr. sullivan.
421 was one of the hardest Math courses I took, but I thought Sullivan was fair. It's a hard class for sure, but she is helpful in office hours and cares about the material.
Awesome professor, probably the best one I had at WCU. The material was difficult (as expected, it's calc II) but lectures were clear and structured. Do the book practice problems (in addition to WebWork) and get help if you don't understand and you'll do fine. Exams were very fair.
A little passive aggressive. Answers questions when asked but doesn't make you feel encouraged to ask them. Put in NO grades throughout the year, so you are unaware of your grade. Takes attendance but doesn't say that attendance is a portion of your grade on the syllabus. Does post a review for exams but usually just a couple days before.
She crammed so much work into every lecture that sometimes you learned a whole new lesson before a big test and it wasn't even on the test. We learned new content up to the last class, forcing me to cram every piece of material within 4 days before the final. The course is tough enough, and taking her class won't make it any easier for you.
Professor Sullivan runs a challenging but rewarding Calculus 2 class. Lectures can be fast-paced, so staying on top of the material and using resources like unstuck AI for practice are key. If you're willing to put in the work, you can learn a lot.
A difficult class for me. She puts a lot of effort into making sure you understand the material, like giving worksheets or notes on paper, helped a lot. She does call on people in class randomly, you can say "pass" if you don't feel comfortable speaking, which is appreciated. WW HW is hard. Difficult to manage work-school balance but possible.
Only issue is it can feel like there's so much content that you can't fully digest it, but she's very nice, easy to reach by email or in office hours, and explains all the content well. Don't get the hate for her on RMP, at least based on this class.
Dr. Sullivan is a good professor and she teaches the material in a digestible way. She does pack a lot of content into her lectures, so missing class is not ideal. Her tests and quizzes are very fair. If you go to class, pay attention, and do the work, you will do well.
Dr. Sullivan was great- she was straightforward in class and very open to questions. The exams are tough, but it is a tough class and she has study guides on D2L that cover the material on the exam. I was not a fan of the homework, but I think it was more the website itself rather than the questions she gave up. Don't skip, very lecture heavy.
Only issue I had with this professor is that she constantly called on people. You will get called on at least 3 times a lecture, but you can say pass if you don't know the answer. Class is difficult but if you go to class and put in the work you will do well. Do the practice problems and the Webwork.
