Mrs. Swade is simply one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had, and will end up on my top 5 lifetime list. Just finished her Interpersonal class, and I wish I could take it twice more. You WILL emerge from her class a better communicator and know more about yourself. Not your average class !

I must say that Ms. Swade is AMAZING! One can see and feel that she gives it her all! IF WE COULD ONLY CLONE HER! I took her class a few semesters ago, and have used the skills she taught on a DAILY basis. Won't let you out early, so be prepared. Never bothered me as I WANTED to be there!

I took her group speech class. Be prepared to work your' butt off. She is a wonderful teacher though, so full of life. She is the best teacher I have had in all of my classes. I wish I could take her with me while I encounter lives ups and downs.

How can you hate this class? yes! is a lot work! IS NOT EASY but you do learn a lot! I would say if you take this class be prepared to spend many hours outside class in meetings, and work! work! but oh so rewarding! This is an amazing teacher who has more to teach than just communication. The class is a LOT of group work and will take a lot of work outside of class but HELLO! welcome to the real world! For all the whiners out there: stop wasting your parent's money.

Ms. Swade is good teacher but their's a lot of work that is done outside of the classroom because she tries to do so much during class time. Also the class requires TWO expensive books, one written by her. But she is GOOD teacher and you do good exercies in class. She is an excellent professor. She may be a little disorganized and changes schedules a lot but she is very flexible with assignments. The tests were very easy. Very hard to fail the class. She is very enthusiastic and loves teaching. I learned a lot and enjoyed the class.

great teacher and class. always energetic to keep class fun. this class has the most work you'll have to do for any speech class. got to know my group mates really well. only 2 presentations. the 2nd one was given kinda late but managed to pull it off. a hint of advice: use simple themes for presentations. it makes the work a lot easier.

Overall a good class. She won't embarrass you in front of the class. I'm a shy person but didn't find this class at all painful. You'll have to listen to a conservative radio show (Dennis Prager), make 2 presentations, and recite the Gettysburg address. She is very nice, always in a good mood, and a pretty lady.

This is my 1st college class. Oh man, it was alot of work! I went on ratemyprofess &read peoples comments about her assinging alot of work but didn't believe it until I took her class.The work wasn't hard but it was ALOT! We had to learn the Gettysburg, and give 2 speeches and a toast at the end. The reseach was alot of work!But she is very nice!

I just finished the class tonight. It was a summer school class and I think that's why most people believed it was alot of work. It was condensed in 6 weeks. She is a little scatter brain but is very fun,nice,& very motivating.It was a great feeling to finally finish and get an A in her class. If I can do it you can do it. I'm not A material.

I agree,was alot of work! There was no way I would of been able to do it with a full time job and get an A. To get an A you must do ALL the assingments. She is real easy going though so that was good. Very down to earth and funny. It was a great feeling to finally be done!! GOt an A in the class but I worked my butt off!

You gotta buy a $65 book and another book that was barely used (12 bucks used.) Then you have to do to a $10 lab assignemt that is mandatory. Other that that, the class is fun but it is alot of work. Made friends with students. Teacher will take time to talk with u if you have questions. Got a B in class. Just do all the work she assignes!!

If you plan to take this course be prepared to WORK!!! I took this class for the summer and it was alot of work to do in six weeks. However, I did leave the class feeling that I was able to prepare an excellent speech.

I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this class because giving speeches frightens me. However, Ms. Swade was a warm, friendly teacher who helped me come out of my shell and gave me an experience of a lifetime. A lot of work, but I am well prepared now! The best class I've taken and it was an honor to have such a wonderful teacher!

I absolutely adore Prof. Swade, I know that I will have her at least one more time, before leaving El Camino. She takes you out of your box and makes you strive for more. Ms. Swade's rad. I am thoroughly enjoying class with her as she demonstrates such passion and knowledge for Communication Studies! Although at times she had days where she seemed like the "absent minded professor" because, she is human, I have learned a lot about communicating in small groups. Assignments were fun and challenging.

Her values absolutely influence her teaching, but if you can sit there and listen and be okay with not agreeing with her, you will do great! Very easy A! Only 2 tests, 6 short paragraphs span the class. No homework. A few small assignments that take about 5 minutes. You probably wont like the class, but it's an easy A.Only 1 presentation.Good luck!

EXCELLENT!! Swade truely cares about her students. She is SO inspiring and motivational. She combines teaching with fun activities and explains WHY we are doing it and why it's important. You will also have a field trip to the Dr. Phil show!! Take her and you won't regret it!!

Being a science major never though i would want to take another speech class in my life, however, because of her teaching style i did(with her again). May be a lil boased and can get monotonous at times but will help conquer your inner fear and stage fright. Exam are very easyand lets u know the material ahead of time in the review session before the test...presentation-wise she will help as long as u r prepared....practice,practice,practice fair grader and allows you to relax before the test.A+

Ms. Swade was an extremely professional instructor. Always on time, never absent, spoke to all of us like adults. She did a great job of helping us to see the real-world application for what we were learning. Could tend to ramble a little bit at times, but always on point. I'd definitely take another one of her classes!

And, while I respect the opinion of this student, I disagree completely with what they said because in order to effectively communicate with other people, one must be the best of their potential so learning about how to improve is the key. Oral Interpretation of Literature with this professor is like, totally cool.

I enjoyed this class taught by this instructor more than many others. It is lots of fun to 'play' with literature. She helps you be as good as you want to be. She spends time to help you if you ask. She also spends some time helping you in other comm. areas. She's awesome! At first, I didn't like her, but I later saw she cares much about teaching.

Professor Swade is a one of a kind person. Very straightforward person, so if you do what she tells you to do, you will pass. Although her three hours lectures have the power to put you to sleep, her personality makes the class better. Her group comm. class has a total of 4 multiple choice tests and 2 presentations. That's not too bad right?

She uses the same lectures for companies to her students so they know what really goes on in the real world. Very good teacher that understands student stress and is very lenient on grading as long as you put effort in. Straightforward, will put you on the spot if she has to.

She can come off as a bit cocky at times, but the class was really great overall. It can be a little boring listening to everyone's speeches, but for those new to public speaking it helps to watch others do well and fail so you can learn from their experience. Very low textbook usage and is more of a workshop than class. Highly recommended!

Huge group project that she grades pretty strictly on. I took the accelerated 8 week course, though. I got an A-- not easy, but much easier than calculus.

Swade is uber right winged but teaches like a moderate. She's fun & interactive, definitely can't sleep through this one. 8wk course, 1 group presentation, 2 exams, & everything out of the workbook. DON'T BOTHER GETTING THE TEXT. The workbook is her baby and soon becomes your bible for the class. Pay attention, take notes, its a breeze of a class.

Professor Swade is passionate about her work. Her class was difficult for me because it was time consuming but in the end it was rewarding. She will go out of her way to help you if needed,, but if you slack off she will not hesitate to fail you.

I took her 8week class in spring. Prof. Swade is amazing and I enjoyed her class a lot even though I am very afraid of public speaking. What Prof. Swade does is one of a kind, she makes public speaking fun and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this class to anyone. 2 Exams which are super easy she gives a study guide for each and one presentation.

This class, as she mentioned from the beginning, is a workshop so expect a lot of personal opinions going around and then decide what to take from it. I liked her class and her advise but her book is very expensive and disorganized. I should've saved my money and just take notes. Easy A.

Class was super easy but be warned she loves to talk about herself and comes off as pretentious. She'll remind you that she's a Dr. constantly and does not care to be challenged. She made her own work book that you have to pay 120+ to pass the class and you rarely use it or the actual text book for that matter. It's an easy A.

This class was very eye opening and helped me have a greater perspective on life. She is a very passionate professor and her lectures are great! Their is 1 midterm, 1 final, group project, and a few small assignments plus some extra credit. Definitely an easy A. She wrote her own notebook which you need daily but not so much the text book

Swade is probably the most passionate, caring, and charismatic teacher I've had in my 15 years of being a student. If you do your best, she will know and you will be rewarded for it. Learned so much about male and female communication. Her knowledge about it is astounding. She can probably be a top tier marriage counselor if she wanted to. Teaches more of a practical hands on approach rather than theory. Time flies and this is the only class that I didn't watch the clock tick down till class is over.

Swade is amazing. I took her class as a requirement but it ended up being my most favorite and inspirational course I've ever taken. She is compassionate, intelligent, funny, and definitely an amazing teacher! She also gives the best advice to all of us. I considered switching my major after her class, she was truly an inspiration to my life!

Swade's lectures are clear, honest, and from personal experience. I am a very organized student, so I LOVE that she followed her syllabus 100% and would let us know of any changes with enough time. I've never met a professor so passionate about what they do and it was so refreshing! Her class has helped my communicating skills everywhere I go!

Highly recommend Swade for small group communication! Her lectures are fairly simple to understand. There's two exams, the midterm and a final but honestly it's easy if you attend class and take good notes. She takes attendance and gives lots of extra credit. There's also two group assignments, which require lots of work. Make sure you stay on task

I recommend students from any major to take Intrapersonal Communications with Swade because it's so relatable to life and she's great at teaching it. Lectures are super easy to grasp, interesting and would recommend taking good notes. There's a midterm and final off the lecture notes as well as an individual presentation assignment. Stay on track!

Fantastic teacher. I was really nervous to take a communications class but Dr Swade makes you feel very comfortable in the class and with your peers. Lectures are long but tests are fairly simple. She offers extra credit which greatly helps your grade and there is only one group presentation. Definitely will be taking her again for interpersonal

The lectures come with life lessons, so listening to her makes the class go by quick, and it keeps you interested. My only problem was that she goes too in depth with some topics and might accidentally leave out some concepts and go over them quickly days before the test. However, reading the textbook helps if she ever does this.

Get ready to get personal in her Communications 130 class. She genuinely cares about her students and makes sure everyone feels welcomed. Textbook isn't required if I'm being honest but the workbook is, so make sure to get it. Her lectures are full of life lessons so pay attention because they will come in handy during quizzes and exams.

Rosemary Swade has been THE BEST professor I've ever had. You walk into her class and immediately feel welcomed. The class is very lecture heavy, but she's filled with energy and AMAZING life advice that I've even took forth myself. Be aware of having to go up in front of the class twice for a "presentation". Professor Swade is the most caring professor I ever had at el camino. I have terrible public speaking anxiety, but she made me feel so comfortable. i spoke to her in the beginning of the semester about my anxiety and helped me along the way. Love her !!

Dr. Swade's interpersonal comms class changed my life. She seriously flipped my world around for the better through her lectures. They basically seemed like therapy/ life coaching rather then learning actual material, which made going to the 3 hour class incredible easy. Workbook required, other books not so much.

Dr. Swade is an amazing professor and you should definitely take her! I took the 8-week session during the semester and by the time the class was over I wish it was the normal 16-week session. There's not much to be graded on so make sure to study/memorize the material since there's basically only a midterm and a final to determine your grade.

Took her eight week class to replace a class I dropped, best decision I made. Teaches in such a way that makes even the most reserved comfortable with oral presentations. There are 4 exams and 2 presentations. Grades easily on the presentation if you follow her presentation outlines. Study for exams. Choose your group members wisely!

At first I did not like Professor Swade because she was really strict and slightly scary. But as class went along, she lightened up as you did your work. She is so inspiring! I wish I wasn't transferring so I could take another one of her classes. Show up, do what you're told on time and have a good attitude!

Interpersonal Communication (Comm-130) BEST class I have ever taken in my entire life. In this 8 week class I gained communication skills (personal and professional) that I will utilize for the rest of my life. This is truly a life changing class. I 100% recommend picking this class!

I took a group com class with her and it's one the easiest A's I've received, so it's pretty surprising to see she has bad reviews. As long as you do all work you'll definitely pass and she lets you redo all work as many times until it's perfect.

Oral Interp class is interesting and mandatory for a Communication Major, but definitely takes you out of your comfort zone. She makes class very palatable for students and is always available during & outside office hours. Turned out to be a very fun class. Not the average lecture from text course but definitely recommended.

I really enjoyed Prof Swade's class. I found her lectures to be really interesting and learned a lot each time. This class makes you re-evaluate how you live your life and motivates you to change for the better. I especially enjoyed the section regarding conflict and how to deal with it. Highly recommend taking this class!

Caring most sweetest I have had by far. She gives great feed back so you know what you need to work on. Just all around a caring teacher she wants you to be successful.

Its a class about personal reflection so there are no wrong answers, do every assignment and actually answer the questions and you'll ace. Its kind of like sharing your diary with your teacher, but no forced discussions no presentations. Several writing assignments & 1 speech outline. Print lectures & add notes & use on tests. Very organized & kind

Professor Swade was wonderful. Lots of helpful information that is immediately applicable to personal and professional life. If you want to grow personally, professionally, and academically definitely take her interpersonal communication class.

She's a solid pick. Though she will make you write about and watch videos with conservative viewpoints. Furthermore, she does push those viewpoints in the feedback she leaves so you might want to pick someone else if all that will upset you. That being said, the work in this class is easy and she gives solid life advice to better yourself.
