She has a heavy accent that is hard to understand and her lectures don't help with the homework given. Her lectures are read straight from a power point that she seems to have typed up with grammar errors. She has difficulty answering questions due to her poor English. When I email her, her responses never answer my question.
The most infuriating, useless professor that teaches physics. I recommend you avoid her at all costs if you value your sanity. Does nothing read of the lecture slide, offers no extra help, and if you have a question on the test, you'd have and easier time getting help out of Fort Knox.
I don't know what's going on in that class. She just yells words and expects us to get what she's saying. On top of that she has an accent so she is literally and figuratively hard to understand.
She is knowledgeable on the subject but lacks the ability to convey anything through lecture. I feel this is mostly due to a thick accent and broken grammar. I found her lectures confusing and unhelpful. Her class requires attendence as in-class assignments are randomly given and quizzes are frequent. Tests often feature trick questions.
Hardest class ever taken so far. Uses Masteringphysics. Heavy accent with bad grammar. The 2 Midterms are 20 points each, 10 multiple choice (1 point each), 2 free response (5 points each) Cumulative Final worth 30 points, 20 multiple choice (1 point each) and 2 free response (5 points each)
She has an accent, but I got used to it within the first two weeks. Her midterms and final are based off of lecture power points, so the book isn't required. Homework on mastering physics, which is alright. Light homework, but tough grading. Overall, easy physics class if you study, go to lectures, and do the homework.
Professors Nawpar is very unpredictable with her tests. A lot of material will be covered in lecturer & only about 40% of material will be tested. Dont skip class because a lot of her tests are based on lecture notes. Very nice and friendly & encourages students to ask questions. Test are very hard!! Book is not needed but an access code for HW is.
She does not teach anything in the class. You'll have to learn the entire course on your own online through flipit physics. She's incapable of explaining anything if you ask her a question. Her 'lectures' consist of the students explaining to her the course material. It's an online class without the benefit of not having to show up to class.
Fails to prep students for midterms and final. No reviews, no guidance. The most she will tell you is "Study chapters 1-6" when in reality only 40% of that material is on the exam. No attendance credit whatsoever. Her tests were so unpredictable. Take Walter or Jun Pan instead because Rosie makes it way more difficult than it has to be.
Do not take Rosie, seriously. She does not teach you anything during class. She just derives equations and shows how to rearrange them for an hour and 15 minutes and then you leave. Basically, you teach yourself everything and youre probably still screwed on the exam cause its not even based on hw or anything. Very unpredictable. Terrible prof!
Rosie is a sweetheart. Not a good physics teacher. You don't know what's on the exam. It seems like she's not consistent. The first exam wasn't based on neither the homework or examples, 2nd exam was. final was nothing like we did in class. im hoping she curves the class.
She lectures well and helps you understand the material. However, she does NOT prepare you well for her tests, which are highly conceptual. 2 midterms and 1 final, 7 quizzes, and a few in-class projects. Online homework for each chapter on Expert TA. She is willing to help and wants students to succeed, but poor tests make it hard to achieve an A
Her accent is hard to understand, but beyond that you get the impression that she has literally no idea what shes talking about whether its asking when HW is due, or the content. Must have the iClicker for attendence, you do nothing in class, and then the exams have actual content on them. If you teach yourself, easy A, otherwise stay away.
Avoid this professor like the plague. You will learn nothing, but be expected to know everything. Her tests questions would be a walk in the park if she actually taught. Your professor is a video lecture on Flipit Physics, which provides no depth to any information. Do not take this class.
Nawpar is super nice and you know she cares. You use online videos called flipit and then re-review lesson in class. Was a terrible experience I do not recommend. She does example problems in class that are basically what will be on the MC/FRQ test. I honestly barely learned in this class and everyone else seemed the same. Homework is light.
Nawpar isn't the worst person, but her class is awful. The class consisted of weekly graded homework and online lectures followed by review of the online lecture during class (iClicker required). Eventually she gave up on lecturing entirely and forced the students to blindly lecture each other. I never thought I'd miss PowerPoint presentations.
Honestly, this class is the worst thing in the world if you are a CE major. I wish I listened to these reviews and didn't choose this professor. Her lectures are soooooo boring. She tries to get students involved in a 100 person hall. It's a mess. Always felt like a waste of time to show up. If you are good at teaching yourself you have a chance.
Overall a very nice lady, but has her drawbacks in lecturing by reading off powerpoints and a bit of an accent. She tries to have 50+ people in-class activities but it's mediocre at best. Midterms are fair, but trying to study is for it as hard as she doesn't provide much study material.
I personally don't think Prof. Nawpar is the worst physics teacher out there, but most of what's written here is true. She's sweet, but hard to understand with her accent. She only reads off of slides and those go extremely fast. Homework is due weekly, but answers are always posted afterwards. If anything studying for exams is extremely crucial.
She is nice professor who cares for her students. She trees to get her 90+ students to get involved in class activities but it sometimes a joke. Pre lecture is dumb especially when she spends 30 minutes making the class talk about it. Her tests are alright but you have to study for it. Physics is not my strongest subject. She rarely curves too.
Professor Nawpar is really nice and caring. She is a good professor if you just trying to get physics out of the way. There are two midterms, 10MC and 1-2 Free Response. It is fairly do able. Pre-Lecture, Homework, Quiz, & iClicker are not worth a lot but will add up. Only downside is that she has an accent, but it isn't that bad.
One of the friendliest professor I met since she helped me with lab (taught by another professor) during office hours one time. The concepts are challenging, but she explains them deeply. You should anticipate about the quizzes.
Rosie is a really sweet professor and wants to help her students but isn't really good at teaching. Her lectures are long as she tries to cram a lot of information in one meeting. She also has a heavy accent so it gets hard to understand her. A lot of homework, a quiz every week, and 3 tests. Only reason I passes is because of coronavirus.
This professor's class was not easy, but she is willing to help you. She is one of the nicest professors I met at Cal Poly Pomona since she helped me with a lab question even I only had her for lecture. If you put a lot of effort in this class and learn from your mistakes in exams, you will pass this class.
The class was fun and pretty easy, but it was basically self-study. Dr. Nawpar is obviously a caring person but with online class and no ftf communication, I got completely lost in translation with her. I asked questions about due dates and it seemed like she blatantly lied to me and then refused to take responsibility, and I lost points.
She's a nice person, but not a very good teacher. She gives lectures that she pulls from the book and they don't make much sense. She's not all that great at explaining physics and gives quizzes from stuff that wasn't really in the lecture or the homework. She has an accent that is difficult to understand and gives short times for tests/quizzes.
She was extremely nice and caring during this online semester. Her class was still extremely difficult especially her exams however she did really try to help students understand the material. . Make sure to study for each quiz and each midterm even if it's open notes.
(COVID Edition) Took Professor Nawpar's Introduction to Physics Class. I've learned HS Physics before, so I know I am capable of learning the content. HOWEVER, Nawpar is very hard to understand and does not explain the content well. I'd have to find the answers to the homework online because she couldn't explain it. Beware!
Best to take someone else!
Overall she is an ok professor. Her accent can be hard to understand at times. Classes can be boring but she tries to encourage her students to participate. There was Lab reports due every week.
1 lab due per week. She is a fair grader, as long as you show effort in your lab report. 1 quiz for every 3 labs. The answers to the quiz are in the Lab Notebook you must purchase for the class. Despite this being an online course, professor nawpar showed she is caring and understanding. If you have trouble, just ask!
Even though she had an accent, the lectures were ok. I suggest just memorizing formulas and when to use them (it gets easier after velocity lol). We do ExpertTA where each week you have homework containing 5-15 questions (search questions on youtube if you have trouble). When clarifying concepts though I ended up turning to my classmates.
We have one paper due every week with data and a report. It was pretty easy however my classmates always had to clarify concepts with each other or her during office hours. You can do one makeup lab if you miss some. You will need the lab manual in order to do the labs. Also suggest going through the lecture link she gives with the video data links
She has an accent, but most of the time you can understand what she's saying. She gives lectures that cover the week's chapter but leaves some stuff out, so you have to read the book if you want to know it all for the test. There are quizzes every week on the past week's chapter, so beware of that. Overall she wasn't a terrible professor.
1 lab a week. The labs are 1 week ahead of the lecture, but everything is in the lab manual so its no big deal. The labs take some time (4 hrs) to get the data and fill out the lab manual. It isn't too difficult, but it does take some time to complete each of the labs.
1 lab per week, 4 quizzes per semester. Quizzes are short and straightforward. If you read the manual and do the labs, you should do pretty well on the quizzes. She explains the labs really well. She describes how to obtain data and exactly where it goes. 10/10 would recommend taking her for lab!
Quizzes and homework were rather easy but counted for a little portion of grade. Professor is EXTREMELY generous while grading, always giving partial points on exams. Her lectures are directly from the book so the book will not be of much help. Professor is super sweet and wants you to succeed in her class.
During class she went over exactly what you needed to do to solve for the lab data which made the labs clear and easy to complete. Labs only took 1-2 days to complete. As long as you put in effort and follow directions, you should get an A on every lab report. The quizzes were easy and straight forward.
If you want to learn find another professor. She doesn't know how to explain and nothing she explains makes any sense. She's a really sweet lady and she tries but teaching is just not for everyone. Her accent makes it so difficult to comprehend anything she explains and she just lectures straight out of the book so it makes no sense.
Overall good class. I took her lab without any physics lecture and was able to get through it easily. Sometimes, she has a harder time explaining parts of the lab, however, everything is in the lab manual. Very predictable assignments but sometimes forgets to remind us about quizzes. Quizzes are based on lab manual and the labs done in class.
She is okay at explaining but not super clear. But she is the nicest woman and wants to give you as many points as possible. There are online quizzes every week that are easy and one homework assignment every week but you have a ton of tries. the class was doable but there is a lot of self teaching
Prof. Nawpar lectures were full of information, one homework and one quiz every week, the exams are super hard so be aware and study well for them. She allows a cheat sheet for each exam, try to write some examples. The (practicing exam paper) that she gives is useful in multiple choices. she's super nice and understanding.
This class was not an easy class because it is very exam heavy, do well on the two midterms and final and you will have an A/B. Her lectures are confusing because she does have an accent but after a while it's easier to understand. She isn't the best at explaining things so make friends in the course!! Do the homework!!
she is a little TOO thorough during lectures, and it just confuses everybody. tbh i think i wouldve been better off learning off of her ppt's and the hw. she gives partial credit on exams, curves, accessible outside of class, allows formula sheets-make sure you have a good sheet for exams, study ppts, and hw,, and you should be more than fine.
Very straight forward with lectures and homeworks. Her exam free response questions are very similar to the lecture examples and homework. Clear lectures and everything you need to know is in the powerpoint. Caring and nice person. Some people had hard time understanding her but it wasn't that bad for me. Write small so sit in the front.
Seeing all the previous ratings, I was skeptical about taking Rosie. However, she is better than I expected. She is very nice and is willing to help as much as she can. Tedious homework once a week, straightforward quiz every 3 weeks, and 3 exams. Exams are difficult, but study the practice exam and lecture problems. Key to success is to practice!!
Great professor. She is really caring and wants all her students to succeed. She works out problems on the board during lecture and one of those is always on the exam. Weekly hw, 4 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. Exams are hard but you can make a cheat sheet. Rounded up my final grade. Generous when grading free response questions on exams.
The previous ratings made me nervous but she was great! Rosie teaches very well and tells us far in advance about quizzes and exams. Do your homework and the practice exams and you should be fine.
Professor Nawpar was very easygoing when it came to lab. She was very helpful when needed and graded lab reports in a timely manner. All her quizzes were online and very straightforward. Great lab professor overall.
Not the worst. Generous when rounding final grades. Grade mainly based on exams. Quizzes were easy and taken at home online. Weekly HW. Exams were pretty rough for me but I managed. She provided practice exams and answer keys which were helpful; usually at least 1 of the practice questions were on the exams. She's pretty nice and caring.
Overall she's great the test are difficult but thats bc physics is a difficult class just study and you'll be fine. SH explains really well and her notes are helpful!
Physics in general is difficult. She as a professor is great. She breaks down the formula, which can be confusing but makes sense when applying it to the problem. She is a good teacher and does want you to understand physics. I would take her again.
She is honestly a really good professor. She is a good lecturer and always is asking if her students need help. However, the course material itself is really hard, so you do have to develop the discipline to study often. Overall, she is a good professor and you can get a good grade in this class if you study.
Definitely would take this professor again. She is kind and cares about her students. The subject material is not the easiest in the world but she is always available to help when you need it. Quizzes were all online and the homework solutions were on youtube. As long as you put in a decent amount of work you'll pass.
Professor Nawpar makes physics possible. I took her for 121 and loved her so much, I waited for her 1220 class. She only teaches 1220 during summer but it was so worth it! She is very clear about what she lectures and electromagnetism itself is not easy. But Prof Rosie makes it possible for us by being thorough and clear about everything. Take her!
She has a very thick accent that makes it a little hard to understand, would recommend getting a tutor. Online hw, 10 questions per week. 2 exams and a final. The first two exams are tough because it's only 20 points in total. Class averages lower than a B on the exams. If you want an A, you need to work hard for it. Go to lecture or get a tutor.
While Professor Nawpar is incredibly caring and supportive of her students, it felt VERY difficult to succeed in her class. The majority of your grade will depend on how you do on 2 midterms and the final. Collectively, those were worth 70% of your grade. Class average on exams was 60%. Make sure you give yourself time to STUDY!!!
Rosie cares for her students soooo much!! She does her best explaining concepts and formulas multiple times so we can grasp it. Sometimes she would get a little too detailed and it was a little confusing but she will clarify if you have any questions. Weekly homework is short and very helpful. She gives out study guides for each exam!
She is super caring. You can tell she really wants everyone to succeed and even for the people who don't have this major. She drops lowest quiz grade and will give extra credit to people who complete homework. She offers a lot of help to all students and she teaches very well. She has an accent but I think it's still clear enough to understand.
she is very nice and knows what shes talking about, but is sometimes hard to follow. if you take good notes, do the homework, and use the resources the school has (tutoring, study groups, office hours), you'll be fine. class is all lecturing, but she is a generous grader on tests.
Her labs were not as stressful as I expected. She demonstrates how to do the experiments, gives notes on the board to help with the assignments, write five paragraphs about the experiment (not that bad), and we usually get out of lab an hour early. She also gives feedback on your reports if there is a mistake.
Rosie was my favorite professor I have had for a min. I usually dont write reviews, but I think she really deserves one. She is incredibly nice, goes out of her way to answer questions with detailed explanations, and genuinely cares about her students. Do yourself a fav and take her class. The goat p much
I do suck at physics, even though i took AP physics in hs, but this class was very hard. 70% of grade from 3 exams, some homework and quizzes which were easy. She cares a lot about her students, but definitely study more than you think you need because a lot of exam material is changed from the practice exam to test conceptual knowledge
She's a sweet professor and cares. Her notes have examples problems and people stop showing up for lecture. She goes over the example problems that are on her lecture notes which already provide the answer. Has practices exams which are similar to exam. 10 mcq and 2 frq. It can be hard. HW on expert TA. She has an accent so listen closely.
Helps with lab if you need it. She gives her own data sheet which is easier than the lab manual. Lab summaries are super easy if you follow her format. Labs never take too long but they can be hard if you don't follow it. She never asks for too much, she wants you to have an easy lab experience and have fun learning physics.
Great professor! Physics is not an easy subject, so you do have to spend time practicing problems outside of class. The class average is 60% but honestly, tests weren't that difficult. You just have to study. She gives you points for writing down the given variables and drops the lowest test score. I found her lectures easy to understand.
Not sure why she doesn't have better ratings, but she is one of the best professors I've had at CPP. She cares and wants you to succeed. She's always willing to answer questions and provide any further assistance you need. Only 2 exams and a final which you are allowed a 1 formula sheet (3 total for the final). You want to pass physics? TAKE HER!
had her for both lecture (PHY1210) and lab (PHY1210L). she really cares about her students and wants you to succeed! labs had 1 report a week (easy 10/10 if you follow her format, gives feedback to improve), lab quizzes were open note. lecture class allowed a formula sheet, class lecture on slides accessible on canvas. would recommend!
Her lecture slides and example problems/solutions are posted on Canvas. Quizzes are available online for ~48 hrs and done outside class, and are simple. Exams themselves are decent difficulty, but very similar to the practice exams she posts. HW is given through Expert TA weekly. She's generous w/ curves too; one of the easier physics classes.
Rosie really cares and wants her students to succeed. Attendance not mandatory, but in my opinion helped understand material better. She always stayed after class if you had questions and always tried to clarify without being condescending. The only tough part were the exams but the practice exams are very helpful. I would def take her for phy 1220
She's really nice! The free response portions of exams are really similar if not the exact same as problems done in class. This was our case even for the final. For the final the multiple choice portion felt more difficult than the others imo. She's also really strict when it comes to turning in homework on time.
For lecture only get graded by some (4) online quizzes, homework, and exams. Not too much variety to significantly bring up your grade. She allows cheat sheets on exams and kind of hints at what will be on them. Super easy for lab and she gives some feed back on labs. Shes very nice.
She is very sweet but physics is a hard class in general, lots of material is gone over in a semester so to do well you must study a lot. Every exam she's lets you have a one sided equation sheet and she always collects them. Grades are based on 2 midterms and a cumulative final and homework. She does have an accent so you have to listen carefully
Take Rosie if you're worried about passing physics. I didn't go to one lecture and I got a B-. She provides practice exams that are very similar to the exams, the quizzes are all open book and online so testing is easy. A 66% is the minimum needed for a C in her class. Some reviews say she drops the lowest quiz but this semester she didn't
The content was really difficult, but it definitely helps to put in a lot of time practicing. The homework and quizzes were online - definitely try to do your best with those because they can boost your grade at the end. The midterms and final were pretty similar to the practice tests so make sure to do those as well.
Her class was moderately easy even if you didn't show up to the lectures. Make sure to do the homework (one assignment every week) on time because there is no way to submit late work. Test are moderately easy if you know the equations (you make your own equation sheet). Provides good study guides very similar to the tests.
If you want to do well in her class, attend EVERY lecture. The content isn't too difficult; you have to know all your equations (you get cheat sheets for midterms). She tends to overcomplicate problems, but overall, the content is pretty straightforward. She puts class problems and study guide problems on exams, so make sure to do those too
Very nice professor, can be difficult to understand her accent. Tests have very few problems so its easy to not do well.
She is a good professor, her accent might not help sometimes. Honestly, I stopped going halfway through the semester because she was only reading off the slides. Practice exams she gives for the midterms are extremely helpful. READ THE DAMN SLIDES, questions from the slides will be on the exams, she didn't change the numbers.
No extra credit, but she grades very mildly on exams. Definitely do the problems in the lecture slides, as she often uses them for exams. Very sweet professor, but sometimes it can be a little hard to understand her.
She wasn't difficult but you still needed to put the work in. That being said she curves your grade at the end. Shes ready to help, very kind, and brought cookies for the last lecture.
She is amazing. Literally all of her quizzes are online and she gives out practice exams which are VERY similar to actual exams which makes it a lot easier to study for the class. Class overall isn't difficult providing you study. You do get cheat sheets on tests as well (single sided). Would take her again!!!
She is really really nice and tries her best to help you. Phy is just really hard. Her lectures are really worth going, even though she reads off the slides. But she'll redo the practice problems and simplify it irl. Her exams are pretty hard esp if u don't study. And HW is due every week w no extensions. has an amazing curve. went from a B to A.
