SO AWESOME. Ross is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He is very personable and you can tell he just loves to teacher. He really is an inspirational teacher. A rare find.
Ross is the man. Didn't give more work than needed, taught very efficiently and coherently, was a hell of a fun guy, and made the subject interesting. He even emails his classes links of interest pertaining to the subject matter, as well as stuff in the news. Awesome.
Before taking the class, I thought Art History was going to be the most boring thing ever. It actually ended up being one of my favorite classes. Ross is an excellent teacher. He is very enthusiastic and truely interested in what he teaches and in turn gets the whole class interested as well.
Best class I've taken at this college even though it's a gen. ed. Ross makes the material and class very interesting. Knows everyone by name and is a great guy/teacher. I plan to take more of his classes.
He's the man! Highly recommended

The Best. Take Tate if you want to sleep through class. Take Ross if you want to learn.
Great class! The class was always kept in an interesting manner. He was very passionate about the subject. Ask him anything about art, and he will come up with an answer!
one of the Best teachers i've ever had.
Engaging, intelligent, articulate, and extermely knowledgeable about the topic. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Awesome guy, makes it fun in class, easy grader, great smart teacher who is interested in the material. ross is the man
I took ross for art history 1 and renaissance art and was left wanting more. Ross is a truly inspiring teacher. I remember thinking art history would suck but then after ross' classes I actually considered studying art at a graduate level! Very accessable, unparallel amount of knowledge, and a great guy. You'll leave 10 times smarter
Great teacher, made three hours go by in the blink of an eye
Ross is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He will make you interested in the world of art and presents class in a clear, intelligent way. Bres-Dawg is #1!!
Incredible. One of the best teachers I've ever had, not a lot of work, fascinating to listen to, incredibly knowledgable and engaging. Ross Rocks. If you have a chance to take his class...DO IT
Upbeat,tough grader, good teacher.
Ross is a great teacher. He has a dynamic personality, his lectures are interesting, and likes to have the students participate in discussions. I have never really liked history classes in the past, and didn't expect art history to be much better. But after taking class with Ross, I found that I really enjoyed the subject.
great teacher, really knows his stuff and makes you want to learn about the subject. a great great guy in and out of the classroom.
Ross's teaching method is vibrant and emphasizes driving a point into your head - he understands that since most students in his classes only REALLY care about music, he should probably focus on a few important points rather than a lot of specifics. He's also a great person who wants to instill a love of visual art in everyone. Highly recommended!
ross makes the class really interesting. he is very high energy and entertaining while making the information likeable.
Listen guys, just take his class, and you'll be fine. Not just a great teacher, but also a person too.
Amazing teacher! Fun, friendly, all around good person. Makes Art History fun and exciting! Take Ross, he is the MAN!
Amazing teacher. He's easy in the sense that you know what the assignments are, and he gives you time to do them..but you have to do your papers well. He really makes the subject interesting. Take every class you can with him!
really great guy. i cant stand art, but taking his class has made me love it. highly recommended, one of the best teachers ive had at berklee!
ROSS IS THE MAN!!!! He is the perfect example of a teacher who drives the point right home. Tons of info and tons of trips to the museum!
Great teacher!
Plain and simple, Ross is the definition of a perfect teacher. He makes everything exciting, interesting, and brings it to a whole other level. TAKE HIM FOR REN ART!
Ross is an AMAZING teacher! If you can take art history with him DO IT! Very animated and extremely knowledgeable in the subject. Many trips to the MFA. Great guy!!
The most amazing and inspiring teacher i have had yet in my life.
I can't say enough about Ross. You'll learn loads of information without even trying, that's honestly how good of a teacher he is. He's extremely passionate, funny, adorable, and amazingly comprehensive. You won't regret taking one of his classes, that's for sure. If only all of Berklee's teachers were of this caliber!
Excellent!
Ross is by far the most amazing teacher I;ve ever have in my entire life period.Extremely interesting class, he just know everything and make you understand history and its meaning. he is just awesome you can not let yourself not having a class with him
this dude is hands down the best teacher i've ever had at berklee. if every teacher at berklee loved music half as much as ross loves art history, berklee would be a much happier place.
ROSS IS SOO COOL, AND SUPER HOT. OMG HE'S THE BEST EVA EVA. HE'S A MASTER OF ART HISTORY. ROSS BRESSLER IS MY BIGGEST INSPIRATION IN LIFE I WISH I COULD TAKE MORE CLASSES WITH ROSS BUT I'VE TAKEN EVERY OFFERED COURSE. YOU KNOW THAT SONG "WHAT IF GOD WAS ONE OF US" BY JOAN OSBOURNE, WELL THAT'S TOTALLY THE PERFECT SONG FOR GIOTTO-SPENCER ANDREWS <3
Bresler is the Bestler
My favorite teacher at Berklee. He has taught me so much about art history and it is because of him that I've learned to love it as much as I do now.
he is just the best person and teacher i had in berklee. He knows how to put information in your brain . you will love his class.
ross is easily the best teacher i've ever had IN MY LIFE! he's incredible. he will change your world, your view of art, your view of music, and your self. If i could have one ounce of the passion for anything that Ross has for his job, I would be extremely happy!
He's just perfect. Well spoken, funny, smart, passionate, kind, and not to mention VERY HOT!!!!!!!!! Ross makes you really look forward to the next class, which is rare. I never learned so much without having to take notes, he's just that good. JUST TAKE HIS CLASS
The best teacher in Berklee for liberal arts. His classes are very interesting and he's a really funny dude also. Extremely recommended.
I took History of Art 2. Liked him a lot, so took Scandals and Vandals the next semester. Was obsessed with his classes. Such an amazing dude. I didn't know anything about art before and now I can go to be museum and understand stuff. He is passionate about art like crazy. Knows how to teach. One of the best ever.
he is the man!!! It's impossible not to get excited about the material when Ross is lecturing!!
Ross is by far the best teacher in the lib arts department and one of the best overall teachers at Berklee! Loves his job, loves art, and wants you to learn. Seriously, you will learn so much without even trying, he's that good of a teacher. Lots of museum trips, easy grader, really interesting topics. Just do yourself a favor and take his class!
Ross is an amazing teacher! Engaging, fun, articulate. He changed the way I look at and understand art, probably for the rest of my life. Take anything you can with Ross while you're at Berklee.
Best teacher I've EVER had. And I had zero interest in art before. It's an experience listening to his lectures and you'll want to go to class. Incredible guy. He makes you love learning. I wish he taught all of my classes.
Hilarious teacher, makes class fun and keeps students attention. You will have a great time in one of his classes, gives out a few papers over the whole semester but nothing huge is expected from you. Definitely recommend for an interesting but easy liberal arts professor!
I feel like this teacher combines just enough passion with just enough charisma. Too many teachers are very passionate but uninspiring, this teacher will ignite your burning love for art history. Definitely take.
I feel like I don't even have to write on here because everyone just knows Ross is the best teacher ever. I really can't say enough about him. I come out of every class having learned so much without even having to try. He's hilarious, passionate, and every other good quality. You have to take him or you are missing out enormously.
Ross is one of the best teachers I've had at Berklee. His feedback to class discussion is so constructive (uplifting) and he really makes the course material exciting! I've really appreciated the amount of time he's spent attending to each individual student's progress in the course. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great teacher. He is very engages thus engages students as well. I'm always looking forward to go to class. YAYY ROSS :D
Ross Bresler is one of the greatest teachers whom I have ever had. He is exceedingly passionate about the subject matter and is willing to bend over backwards to make sure you get the grade you deserve. I will admit, in the entirety of his class I have taken about a half of a page of notes, if that. After that, I have received A's on both papers.
Easily the most enthusiastic, energetic, optimistic, intelligent, passionate, and masterful teachers at Berklee. This class should be required as it has impacted me way more than any music class.
Great teacher. Easily my favorite teacher in Berklee! Absolutely inspiring and hilarious. Definitely TAKE HIM!
Wow. Before the semester started, I was dreading having to take art history. This class ended up being my favorite class, not only of the semester, but of my whole experience at Berklee. Ross makes you excited about the material. He's so engaging, insightful, encouraging, and very funny. Best teacher I've ever had.
Nothing much to say, just take him. Scandals and Vandals itself is a very interesting topic, plus lectures from him, its AMAZING. One sad thing is that I am taking it in the summer so I will have less lectures from him :(
Took his Scandals and Vandals class in Summer. I was never an art guy and I never go to museums. But his lectures and presentations are exceptionally inspirational and entertaining; the discussion topics he provides are even more philosophical than my philosophy class. You will regret not taking this class.
Ross is easily the coolest prof I have ever had at Berklee. He opened my mind up to the art world. Without him, I probably would still not care too much about art. Take him before you leave Berklee. Oh, and his intellect is really inspiring and hot.
First off Ross is an amazing guy. Took him for Scandals and Vandals and it is easily my favorite class I've taken at Berklee. You could be the most cold hearted person about art history and by the end of the class want to go liberate stolen art from the nearest black market art cartel. Lectures are amazing, informative, and engaging.
Ross is one of the best teachers I have had at berklee. Super nice, helpful, funny, PASSIONATE, interesting and smart. I am so glad I got to take my art history class with him, because otherwise I feel as if it would have been boring and uninteresting. Ross makes it the exact opposite of that. It was a real pleasure coming to class each week.
JUST SUPERB
I have nothing but amazing things to say about Ross Bresler. He is the perfect example of a teacher that goes way beyond what is required, and one that makes lasting impacts on all his students. I joined his art history course not knowing a lot about the subject, but he has made me care really care about art. Best teacher at Berklee so far!
Easily the best teacher I've ever had. I wasn't into art history before, but his lectures sparked a real interest in me. Going to class is a must... he is so humorous, engaging, and inspiring. Also a really caring person. Three papers (no tests/quizzes). Don't waste your money buying the textbook; you don't use it. An absolute must-take.
His class Scandals&Vandals was very popular so I took it. Honestly, I found his lectures mediocre. No final or midterm, you just have to write 3 essays whole semester, that's all. He is a chill dude, you'll have fun.
Literally my favorite teacher at Berklee. So passionate about his subjects and actually makes art history so interesting, if you're taking art history and you're not taking it with him, what are you even doing. He's so funny and 10/10 he will make you laugh and fall in love with art.
Ross is the GOAT! Take him if you can!
Ross is the real OG. Hes SO knowledgable and intelligent!!! Hes hilarious as well. What I love about him most is that hes genuinely so into what he teaches us. You can tell he does his homework outside the classroom. His presentations are absolute gold! You will not regret taking this class so do yourself a favour. NOW.
Ross is an amazing lecturer; very well spoken and you never get bored during class. He adds humor, while maintaining a serious learning atmosphere. For his Renaissance to Present class, we were required to buy two textbooks, but have not actually used them for class, (they are merely for optional pre-class reading), so be aware.
Best uncle everrrr!!!
I swear; Ross was born to inspire and share his passion. He's kind, hilarious, clear, engaging, flexible... He checks off every box for what a teacher should be in my opinion. He assigns 3 papers, but I think he just wants to see that you leave the class having grown in some way. I 100% wish I took more classes with him. DO IT!!!!
Makes the class SO easy to pass. On top of that, he makes it super interesting and really gets people engaged with the material. I literally can't stand talking about visual art and talkinng about what it might mean and the bigger ideas--it's so boring to me. And I loved this class! Even signed up for his Scandals and Vandals art class!! The GOAT.
Ross is AMAZING! Please take him if you have the chance. I learned so so much from his class Scandals and Vandals, and the 3 hours just flew by! He is the best and he is so passionate about what he teaches.
He is A-MAZING! Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had. You can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. The lectures are long but it's tolerable. He gives a reasonable amount of work and is very understanding. If you have the chance to take his class TAKE IT! You won't be disappointed.
TAKE THISCLASSSS. Ross is one of the best professors I've ever had at Berklee. So genuinely interested in the subject matter and his students. Probably the only 3 hour class I ever looked forward to at Berklee.
Ross is the best teacher I have had at Berklee. Brilliant, passionate, fair. He is everything you would want from a teacher. The class consists of amazing, interactive lectures and a couple of papers. Take him, you won't regret it.
If you couldn't tell from the several other great ratings, Ross is an absolutely fantastic teacher. I've learned so much from his class and he makes Art History at Berklee so entertaining and fascinating. Definitely take him if you have the chance, you'll learn so much from him and he's an absolutely fantastic dude. Shoutout Ross if you're reading.
Ross might be the best prof Ive ever had I feel like his lectures could be ranked in the top ten nationally on visual art. Has everyone hanging on every word. Incredible class
Any additional words would do an injustice for this class so just do yourself a favor and register for a class with Ross.
He is the best Berklee liberal arts professor!!!
This man was born to teach art history. Truly one of the best and most passionate professors out there. Incredible course that I will walk away from with a lifetime of art history knowledge and appreciation. The way I experience the world is forever changed!!
I'm writing this years after I took this class. I went to a music school and my favorite teacher was an art history teacher, so that says a lot. You just have to take this class - Ross Bressler is an inspirational figure! You will never be bored in this class - he makes everything fun! Some people are born to teach, and that is Ross Bressler.
Ross is literally the best teacher I have had at Berklee! He is extremely knowledgable, engaging, inclusive and cares so much about each and every student. He legit sends a links to something interesting to each student according to their background and things they like every time he grades a paper. Literally take this class even its for no credit!
Ross is the best professor there is at Berklee. Taking a class with Ross was the best decision I have ever made while at Berklee. His knowledge on art is extraordinarily, however he teaches his classes at a pace that is extremely digestible. Ross finds a way to connect with every student in the classroom, and is always available for emails.
Best class I've taken at Berklee hands down. Ross should start a side hustle being a comedian because I've never been so entertained in a class ever. He made sure to know everyone's name no matter the class size. I've never seen so many people willing participate. So many semesters later and I still think about how amazing this class/prof was.
Lessons don't build on each other, making it hard to see progress.
professor bresler is one of the most engaging lecturers i've ever studied with. you can tell in his class that he LOVES what he's teaching. always a highlight of the week.
ross is the best teacher and person. you cannot not meet him in your time at berklee. he's passionate about what he's teaching and it translates to the students. i personally don't like history classes but this was one of my favorite classes ever because of ross, and of course the actual content is really interesting too.
Ross is the best professor at Berklee hands down. TAKE SCANDALS AND VANDALS IF YOU NEED AN LVIS. This man is funny, concise, and one of the best people to have a genuine discussion with. Every single class member gets a turn to speak and give their opinion. He is brilliant!
INCREDIBLE
I'm writing this nearly three years after taking Scandals and Vandals and two years after graduating from Berklee—proof of how often I still think about my time as Ross Bresler's student. I watched Dead Poets Society recently, and all I could think about was Ross. He's hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. I wish I could say more!
Ross Bresler is extremely engaging in lectures, yet you can understand what the important topic of the class is. He is more than happy to answer questions and leads classes effectively in discussion. He is extremely knowledgeable and took us all to the museum! When you write papers, his feedback is very observant. Thank you Ross!
the best liberal arts professor i had in my four years by MILES. had him fall '24 during the bar-none worst mental health period of my life and his class was a twice-weekly ray of sunshine. he's an incredibly engaging lecturer, has a great sense of humor, and really makes a point of connecting with the class. you can tell this guy LOVES his job lol
ROSS IS AMAZING!!! take scandals and vandals if you can, I didn't think I would enjoy this class as much as I did but every week I looked forward to it. I learned a lot, Ross makes it so interesting while also being so funny.
Ross is so great. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Kind, caring, funny, well prepared, passionate about art history, gives interesting and engaging lectures and his enthusiasm is contagious. He even went with us to the Isabella Stewart museum on a day class was canceled. Class had 3 essays and 1 book report, and he is a generous grader.
Dr. Bresler has managed to make my favorite class I've ever taken at a music school be the least music-related class I took. He is insanely knowledgeable, engaging, fun, and it is obvious that he cares deeply about both his students and the subject matter. I could not recommend taking a class with him more.
LOVE HIM!! Ross has got to be one of my favorite professors here at Berklee. I never thought I would be so interested in a history class because Ross literally makes the class so entertaining and educational. He is hilarious, super chill, and is just overall amazing! Everyone needs to take scandals and vandals! It's so worth it.
Ross is my boi
TAKE ROSS NO MATTER WHAT. He is so passionate about art history and his lectures are incredible and so engaging. I loved going to class every time. He will make you fall in love with art and art history even if you didn't care. Only assignments are 3 shortish essays that he grades leniently. He's one of the best teachers I've ever had.
Hey sickies~~~ It's a privilege to have him in this school. He's passionate about his job and somehow he got the magic to make us to be the same. Super understanding and lenient, remembered everyone's names by week 2…Gonna miss him so much :( His teaching style is simply ICONIC. Take him, it's good for your mental health, I mean it.
