Definitely knows his stuff. Tough grader on papers.
only papers - but grades them very hard - class is boring too
Ross is the coolest, even if he is kind of difficult! Great class!!
He sings, you play jeopardy, papers arent that bad, pretty boring otherwise
Hard grader, but he's pretty cool nonetheless.
he looks like marty macfly
Great teacher, all papers, will give you as much help as you want, likes tan
tells u 1st class that if you get your leg chopped off, & miss 3 classes, u fail

If you are stupid, you will fail his class. If you are smart and you go talk to him about what you should put in your paper, he will tell you exactly what he wants and youll ace it if you put that exactly in there. I should know--I aced his class.
Doofy, goofy, but likeable. Learned some too.
cool guy, pretty interesting class. He's intelligent and straight forward, no tricks, no tests, just essays. Definately worth taking.
If you are interested in Catholicism and/or can write well and not BS papers, take the class.Classes are enjoyable, you'll get a kick out of this guy, very likeable & upfront.Really knows his stuff & can teach it well, has some interesting ideas of his own.
nice guy, fun classes, but the papers are kind of hard, and pop quizzes too

hell of a nice guy, who teaches an interesting class. not exactly a cool professor, but he can teach you info that you never knew you wanted to know.
i took him twice once a religion class, and the other time a class on american indian religion. hes a nice guy. dorky. everythign is laid out for you so do it and get your B+
really interesting class and he teaches it very well.. u learn about both religions and how to write good papers
boring lectures but you learn ALOT! final is five essays (and u don't get to pick them!)... i've never been so stressed about a final! papers are hard (3 of them) but he will sit and talk to you before you hand it in - very helpful! nice guy!
If you lwant to write 3 papers about topics you are suppose to learn about in class but really have to go back and teach yourself about, spend hours revising them and then turn it in to get a C+ when you are an A student in all other classes this is great
Arguably one of the worst professors at Marist College.
Don't take him for Marriage and Family. This course is one that should be cake and he takes it way too seriously.
A bit dorky but really knows his stuff. Really tough grader on papers but you can see him before due date where he's very helpful and gives good feedback on your paper. No BS papers allowed.
He knows his stuff and is a great teacher. The class is very difficult, expect to do a lot of work outside of class.
Very smart guy, class is usually somewhat interesting, very helpful. If prefer writing papers(and can write them well) over taking exams, this is your class.
If you're just taking Marriage and Family to just get an easy A and get your religion core out of the way, Ross is not the person to take. The class is just rediculous.
His class was pretty easy. Strict attendance policy, 3 pop quizzes (can drop the lowest grade), the only thing that was hard was the final. No midterm, if you go to almost every class you will do fine.
you do not have much to go on to get a good grade w/ only 3 papers and final (2 pop quizzes). if you are good at writing papers, this is the class to take. but i am good an i only got a b+, and that was after i revised my 1st paper and worked my ass off
Really nice guy and makes class interesting for what it is. Can stray from topic and doesn't always stick to syllabus. Papers are ok but has strict criteria for you to get a good grade.
Good class. Lots of interesting info...tries to get class involved, but its pretty quiet. Mixes things up w/ stories, lecture, and movies...not a lot of reading. Grades tough, but put some work into the 3 papers and go to the writing center and you'll do fine
he's a real nice guy but he's a really really tough grader. he barely gives out A's and you get a C if you do average work. but he's funny and the class isn't half bad. sometimes interesting actually. just work hard on the 3 papers and you'll do fine.
AVOID at all costs. Take Br. Frank. Worst teacher I have had at marist.
not cool guy. Unfair grading on essay. Nothign higher than a C given on a paper. Only Bs given if it is somehitng he has never seen. He doesnt realize it is RELIGION, its not like things have changed. He is a tool and wears the same clothes everyday. Should be unemployed, he sucks
I really liked this class. He gives you three 5 page paper and that's mainly your grade. The reading is easy and he's a pretty good teacher. Can get boring, but will do the trick if you need a religion class.

Really easy class, may have strict attendance policy but if you do the papers the night before and day of you will get an easy A, final consists of writing down what he tells you to during the last two classes. course can be boring at time but if you just listen to his instructions and do what he asks, anyone can get an A
Grades hard on papers. Admits in the first class he rarely gives A's unless you type something he has never heard before. Expect a B. Class can get pretty boring at times, but once in a while he makes an attempt to crack a joke.
admits on first day that its not an easy course. do the reading and listen to everything he says. it's interesting stuff, he's just touch. rarely gives A's. took me all semester to get one, but if you go to him about your paper he'll help. good luck!
Hard teacher... 2 hard quizzes and 4 Hard papers....90% of class gets C's...says that u wont get an A unlesss u can write like a religious scholar....wtf its an intro course
Easy class. I never took notes and never did the readings and got an A. The only thing you're graded on is 2 papers, an oral presentation(easy) and then then final, which is writing 5 essays. The final sounds bad but it's not at all, He tells you the exact answers to the essays. Very boring class, but no work really.
Really nice guy, very helpful in office hours. If you are willing to work he will make sure get a fair grade.
Very good professor. The class consisted of 2 quizzes and 2 papers as well as group work. He is really srtict about grammar and punctuation on papers. However, he is willing to go over the paper before you hand it in. The paper topics also the final exam questions he chooses of 5. He is an interesting instructor.
I hate him. He is a small minded business man who someone gave a job teaching college courses. He should be sitting in the back room of a McDonalds working on their books. He only understands the world in terms of his version of Christianity and,oh, did i mention I hate him?
Nice guy but super boring! 2 hard graded papers on boring topics and 3 pop quizzes...the final is also 5 essays. Wears the same suit everyday to class and just talks the entire time.
Really smart guy, kind of tough grader, but what does not kill you makes you stronger.
hes actually really easy and nice. the class is pretty to the point with 2 papers and like 3 pop quizzes and the final. i got a's on both the papers without going to him for help so as long as you do the research for the paper your good. he gives you the answers to the final so that part is also easy. i honestly did not try hard and got an a
Kind of tough grader, but very willing to read rough drafts and give help. Really knows his stuff.
Good teacher. Subject dry at atimes, but nice man who is willing to help. 2 papers worth a lot, but easy and he will look at them for you. 3 pop quizes were hard because the covered material from a while back, but he explains material really well and is worth taking.
This class is not hard. You don't even have to do the readings because you read them in class, in groups. You don't have to understand them either because he explains them. If you listen the class is easy. He has funny little stories anyway. There are only a couple papers and quizzes. Just write what he says in class in the papers. He's really nice
Took it online. He is very intellgent and a english nut. 2 papers(20%each) 2 quiz(5%each) and 2 take home question(10% each)final (20%). the hardest part was the papers, he has strick guidelines about writing the proper way and is a very tough grader. Set aside at least 15 hours to do each paper as they are 40% of your grade.focus on them.
Captivating class, Enochs is really helpful when needed. Took online marriage&family class. Interesting information, not difficult reading because it was actually enjoyable, well-picked and good to apply to actual life! Useful professor and class. HIGHLY recommend.
Great guy, very kind and helpful. Loves to answer questions you may have and was overall a great experience. Would definitely recommend
Overall a great professor! Can be a little boring and he does spring quizzes on you out of no where! So be prepared. Come to every class be prepared and you'll do great! Overall nice and funny guy.
Funny and sarcastic teacher. Two pop quizzes, three papers, no mid-term, minimal reading. Just use the lectures for the papers. Highly recommend.
Ridiculous. He assigns a ton of reading, and only gives you three pop quizzes which are not even on the recent material that you have covered, but the entire course. He expects you to remember every tiny detail that you have learned in religion. So this results in him giving inexplicably lower grades then you feel that you deserved.
Pop quizzes aren't related to the most recent lesson(s). Grades essays toughly and arbitrarily, word count is unreasonable for Intro-level understanding. Is more concerned about the grammarsyntax of the essay than content. He is willing to review essays with feedback before you submit them, though. Struck me as slightly patronizing.
His pop quizzes are difficult but he's a solid professor. Marriage & family is an easier class but he brings in real life examples to help connect students to the material. He likes participation and will keep stirring debate to force people to want to talk. He's a tough grader but if you are willing to put in the work I highly recommend.
95% of the information required to write the papers he requires must be found out of your own, unguided research. He spends long periods of classes on a single myth, or plays a long video that is sparse with pertinent information. What your grade comes down to is how infallible (by his standards) is your fatiguing amount of independent research.
Professor Enochs is a great guy who cares about his students. As long as you pay attention in class you will do fine on the pop quizzes and the final. He tries to keep the class interesting with real life stories and debates. Tough essay grader.
Although this class is hard, professor Enochs is the best speaker you will have at Marist. He made me love religIon and enjoy his class. Each paper is worth a lot but if you go to his office hours he will help you. Such an inspirational professor. Not an easy A but if you work hard you can do well.
Professor Enochs is the best! His class was extremely interesting and I learned a lot of valuable information. As long as you listen in class and put effort into the papers, you should do well. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
2 big papers, fairly easy final with pop quizzes that aren't too hard if you pay attention. DO NOT SKIP CLASSES THOUGH! His lectures are sometimes interesting, but sometimes I doze off during class. Overall, take him.
Two big papers and one quiz. He's an easy grader so it's not a difficult class. It was an easy A and he is really knowledgeable about the subject. He's kind of monotone though, so it's easy to get bored.
did not like
I did not mind his class until he gave no feedback on anything. One of the hardest graders you will ever have. Hours of reading and on essays were not worth it as it took away from my other classes. Ask what you did wrong and he will circle around it.
Professor Enchoss is a very tough grader and he NEVER GIVES EXTRA CREDIT. He has a very clear on the grading criteria. Make sure you work on time.
Unfortunately, a very tough grader. Very few assignments and no extra credit and no assignment is graded twice once missed or if you want to resubmit it to raise your gpa.
I wished that I had never taken this professor. I asked for extra credit a lot. He is just so cruel and does not give extra credit opportunities. Graded by few things. My GPA tanked because of him.
Just horrible professor. Very weird and makes students uncomfortable
At the time I took this class, his syllabus was not clear and had two conflicting sentences saying he does not give extensions but then he accepts work after the last day of class. He is extremely dismissive and is very unkind. He also has made weird remarks like if you don't read the stories, you may end up in divorce. Make sure to submit on time.
A LOT OF READING!! super tough grader too, doesn't really tell u why u get points off just takes them off. if you do the readings tho and use outside sources for the LONG ASS essays you will do fine, just be prepared for discussions every sunday with no reminders lol
ive never spent so much on books for one class. had to buy 5 books and we used all of them. weekly discussion posts and we had to write a bunch of essays and he asks questions on the books you read.
Really not that bad - I don't understand what the other reviews were talking about? As long as you actually do the work (DON'T USE AI TOOLS!!!) you will get an A in this class. My only complaint is that his attitude towards students is very poor. His tone of voice that is conveyed in his emails makes it feel like he's looking down on everyone else.
Requires 7 books that you get from Amazon. Each week always has a discussion post and questions, unless there's a paper. There are two 2000-word papers. The class did end the Thursday of fall break, I still got three credits, so it's honestly worth it. Sometimes it's weird, but an easy course if you read the books.Very strict with no extensions!
Honestly an easy A, weekly discussions, a few homeworks, and 2-3 2000 word papers. Requires 7 hard copy books but I never actually used them. His syllabus and posts are sooooo overly aggressive and harsh but his responses to my posts+assignment feedbacks were always pretty nice so dont be intimidated.
Ridiculous professor, never take him
so rude and such a harsh grader. should not be teaching a 100 level class
wants his students to fail. NEVER TAKE HIM
drop the class while u can
DO NOT TAKE
Very harsh professor. The class isn't necessarily hard but I definitely wouldn't take another class with him
not that bad of a class but this professor has made so many students uncomfortable and drop his classes, which is something he seems to take pride in based on his syllabus. he's a harsh grader and all of his assignments are busy work
I think any positive ratings on here were written by him. I seriously have never had a worse professor at marist. He is so unkind to his students and makes weird comments in his syllabus and in his announcements. Do not take!!!
requires 7 hard copy books for an ONLINE class. so stupid
Very very very bad professor. Tanked my gpa
