Ross Fair is a very nice man who has a great passion for what he does. Even though his lectures are jammed with information which is usually thrown out of order and unorganized, he himself wants his tsudents to do well and if there to help. If you read the text and go to class (even though thei're painful) this course should not be a problem.

Dr. Fair was a break from my regular program's professors and I quite enjoyed the break. He inspired me to learn and dive deep into the history of Toronto. The course was well structured for online learning (due to COVID) and I excelled in the course because of this. Recorded lecs> live lecs, thank you for choosing to record, Dr Fair lool

Took as an elective and I regretted it. If you're into early and pre 1900s history then this course is for you, brief talk about 80s onwards. Although he seems like a nice guy, lectures are dry and he's a hard marker and makes you work to get an A or B.

I had to take this course as an elective, and unfortunately, there were very very limited options. Fair was a very nice and flexible teacher. However, his marking was quite difficult even for a regular 4.0 GPA student. Unclear about what EXACTLY would have resulted in a perfect final assessment.

Awful. If you think you would like pop culture, YOU WON'T. His lectures are just slides with pictures and just talks off the top of his head and your notes end up being full of contradictory points. Most boring class I've taken thus far.

Professor Fair is the BEST history professor that I have ever had. His lectures are pre-recorded and easily accessible. So I took this class as a prerequisite because it seemed pretty interesting... how wrong I was. Weekly modules consist of LONG lectures and even longer readings (wack) but the three main discussion posts are much easier. Final paper seemed okay but hes a really ugly marker. Final take-home exam was okay.. Overall, it was very boring and tedious.

Awful. Not pop culture related, more historical based. Do not take if you do not care about the history behind pop culture. Lectures were lengthy and boring. They were hard to watch because they were all in black and white and had minimal pictures and words. Very boring. He also marks his students really weird and out of order, like his lectures.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Fair for the courses '10 days that changed the world' and 'Archival Research'. I got to have the most enjoyable projects in his class, and perhaps some of the better archival research classes. For the latter course, it was a mandatory Dr. Fair made enjoyable, nothing says a good Prof. then one that interacts.

Professor Fair seems to be a kind man who definitely knows his stuff. My criticism would be that their is a lot of work each week between pre-recorded lecture material and readings (which is to be expected in a history course). His lectures can also be pretty dry and he does tend to ramble a lot with no clear direction at times.

Highly recommend his 10 Days That Shook The World class to any one who hasn't done well with history courses in the past. He is a very good professor who is nice, very clear, and marks very fair. The course has a few main assignments that make up the grade. As long as you go to lecture and take good notes you should do well in the course. If you slack and skip lecture you're not going to do well. be prepared to write as you would expect with a history course.
