Great teacher! Ross has made math understandable and is willing to expand on ideas if you don't clearly understand them. Attendance is a must. Fun class - great teacher.
If you want to learn math, please do not take his class. He is great tutor but he is a horrible classroom teacher. He does not follow the book at all and it is not enough just to do the homework in order to pass his test b/c he does not follow the book at all. He loves functions. He will test are only all about function. Please don't take his clas
I was frustrated in this class because he would teach the basic concept then throw out tricky or challenging questions when I was only just grasping the basic concepts. He explains things well but does tend to jump from easy to hard. Overall not a bad class. He does have a lot of flexability with tests and quizes and was an enjoyable personality
He is very nice guy, and teacher but he could keep the class foxed on Math. He does not write much on board but he will use slides. It means you do not get to see how the problem was solved. He is a great teacher one on one but he can not teach the whole class. If you do not have a problem with Math, you can take him.
One day he is going to be the best Math teacher at PCC. He spend much time outside of the class as well to help us, but his class time was not as effective b/c some women in the back were very loud in our class, and those ladies did not let us study! I hate you girls! And, he jumped to hard questions without explaining it. But, he has very nice pe
Good teacher will explain until you get it and has a good personality. Do your assignments and come to class so you don't miss turning in homework or doing a simple quiz, easy to get an A.
Ross is the most competent math teacher I've ever had. His explanations are detailed, clear, and he makes good eye contact with students. He's personable and approachable, in and out of class. He does give hard tests, but if you study they are not beyond your ability. If you struggle with math but honestly want to learn, take Ross's class. Trust me
Ross is a young brilliant instructor. He is an expert at FUNTIONS, and he knows what he is doing. Ross is also someone easy to deal with, and above all he is VERY FAIR. I had him in two consective terms, and I wish I had him again. It is important to mention that he give a FULL credit for make up quizes. Inshort, Ross is willing and able to help.
He is like a tutor who is happy to help when you ask, but his teaching method sucks. he doesn't explain the course much
Ross is an awesome teacher! I had him for mth 60 and I'm going back for another round for math 95! Get him if you can!
May know his subject but has a LOT to learn about actually teaching it. I had all A's in earlier classes but he jumps around so much it's hard to follow or even ask questions. May become a good teacher but he has a long way to go.
Ross is a fine teacher. In the beginning of Math 95, he will tell you that you need to set aside 15 hours a week to study for the class. You probably won't need quite that much, but be warned: this is a class that rips students apart. You can watch the class diminish in size as students bomb out. So, take Ross, and math 95, but be prepared.
Best math teacher I have had. His in class work is the best and is very helpful. He will answer all your questions and make sure you understand and I really like his weekly quizzes- correct them until you have 100% for an easy grade booster! Math is tough, but I am going out of my way to take MTH 111C with him spring term!
Ross is a fine teacher. He will come over and help you but it is always in a rushed mannor. He does not show a genuine will to help a student understand. There is also an issue with discipline in the classroom. He is quick to silence normally quiet students, but when a student is obnoxious on a regular basis, he seems to enjoy playing along.
Great guy. Funny. Knows subject well. Not the best classroom teacher. He'll take tons of 1 on 1 time for you. If you have extra time, you will really learn. Not enough practice problems. Book uses different techniques. Too busy for after class 1 on 1 learning so I wish that I had taken someone else. He's cool though. If you have time, take him.
Ross is probably the worst teacher I've ever had; I dropped the class after two classes. He doesn't explain/review anything and doesn't use the math book and makes a packet that you complete instead. He doesn't seem interested to help you at all. If your a fast paced learner this might be good for you. Get ready for a lot of home work though!
best instructor i've ever had. his strength is his office hours for sure. but he has a way of explaining things that actually make him interesting.
An awesome prof. One of the best I've ever had. He is extremely helpful, his lectures are very informative, and his tests aren't that hard. I couldn't have asked for a better math professor.
very caring. and so danged cute! like one of the jonas brothers! great smile. oh and can explain calulus to a dummy like me. ive seen ross in his office hours. he goes out of his way to help you! awesome. i just need him to pop some zits so hes not so dreamy to look at. im a sucker for the dark curly haird dimply ones... my rating? mcdreamy...
Textbook was used only for homework, and lots of it. He still writes a "course book", but doesn't follow his own syllabus. Midterm was postponed on day of midterm and what should have been a review day before finals was used to make up lost time by covering 2 sections of book. I for one, would have had a MUCH better grade with a review day.
We didn't find out about the test until two days before. He said "It's in the syllabus." He didn't post any answer key until asked, and doesn't respond to emails about missed work if sick. He makes good packets for the class and is clear when he speaks, but his arrogance is hard to deal with.
He is extremely charismatic which makes the class more fun. Always helpful when it comes to explaining something you don't understand or going deeper into a problem if you need more clarity. Bummed out he doesn't teach higher levels of calc so I can have 1 prof all the way through. If you go to class and lab and ask questions you should ace calc.

He does stay close to the material covered in the textbook and in labs, but marks the most ridiculous things off on his test.
Have had him for 2 sequences - BY FAR my favorite math teacher of my entire life. His packets are so thorough. Goes through every problem with you in class, always answers questions, and has reviews for every exam. He does have in class quizzes so attendance becomes important but he makes math fun and easy to learn so you don't mind showing up.
I struggle with math and found Ross to be very easy to learn with. He is precise and demands attention to detail but that actually helps you to not make errors. I would recommend him for anyone who is not great with Math.
Ross is very, very, very, very, very helpful. His classes are fun, and he makes learning math easy. I would take him again in a heart beat.
Does not use book. Gives hand outs that do not have answers to check. Questions are harder than what the text book has. Expects the tutoring center to teach us.
explains Math concepts well, very helpful out of class as well.
You have two choices with this guy. If you're a math wiz take him. If you are learning get him at office hours. Class room instruction is almost worthless. Learned more from books than him because my schedule didn't fit his office hours. Also no answers on his work pamplet. You have no time to learn basics. After one problem he goes for the throat.
Very helpful and makes it fun and interactive. I plan on taking him for all required math courses as high as he teaches.
He was the best Math teacher I have ever had.Show up in class, listen and solve the packet's problems and you will be fine.He gives you full credit when you fix your mistakes in quizzes. That alone motivates students to learn. How often do we get a second chance in life to correct our mistakes?Ross is an amazing teacher. You will love him.
Hands down, the best math teacher that I've had in my life. I am posting this at the end of the term before I've ever had a change to check my grades to see if I passed. I know for a fact that if I didn't, it's because I didn't study, or arrived late to class, NOT because of the teacher. Very fun class to start my morning with.
I took his courses for three terms, and found his teaching style to be perfect. Fairly quick-paced once the class gets going; but makes the concepts clear and easy to grasp. A friendly, helpful, and clear instructor; I couldn't recommend him enough.
Ross is a extremely smart and awesome teacher. His explanations are clear, positive, and understandable. His' office hours are helpful and fun. He could help you becoming Math expert if you pay attention in Math.
I took him for 65,95 and now for 111. I really did not like him at first. I thought he was too anal about notation and how you wrote your problems out on the page. I have grown to really like him, though. He is super organized. The class is 2 midterms and a final. He lets you re-do quizzes and turn them in until you get 100%, which is free points.
Will not work with student's schedules. If you are a working person, you should find a different prof. He sometimes doesn't finish a lecture and expects you to stay after class the following time to finish the assignment. Extremely picky! If you do a problem correctly and get the right answer, he will dock you if he doesn't like the way you notate.
Started with Ross in Math 60. I loved his teaching style and continued to take his class for 65 and 95. Ross is very organized and pushes his students to be just as organized with their work. Grades kind of hard, but it helps you in the long run.
Great professor, does a great job of going over alot of material in a short amount of time. Its a hard class if its all new, but its supposed to be. You will not want to miss a day of instruction. Also, Ross is excellent at giving help when needed, id in the math tutoring center often to help out.
Ross (he goes by his first name) is very helpful and makes the material (horrible book) much easier to understand. One of the most fun and effective teachers I've had.
Gets a little bit nitpicky with format but he does tell you the specific format he wants you to use, so if you don't do it you're really the only one to blame. Explains concepts clearly, is willing to review to help the class/individuals. If you fail this class, you have only yourself to blame.
Ross is a great teacher. He is energetic, and is open to questions. I took Mth60, Mth65, and will be taking Mth95 and Mth111 with him. He explains things well, and the workload is very balanced. Just enough to prepare you for tests, but not too much to overwhelm you.
Ross is great. He moves quickly, but he sincerely want's his students to succeed. Office hours are there for those who need it. He works mostly out of a packet (100pgs ish) you need to print off. He is a happy and caring teacher.
The great thing about taking Ross is that you are given all the note packets. There is still room to answer questions and take your own notes. He is hard but fair, and if you work hard you can get a B or higher.
We just need to practice! If you study, you will do great! Ross is very nice! He got office hours to help you out.
Ross is great. He is picky about notation, but he tells you what he wants. A very fair and consistent grader. He explains complex situations well. He doesn't let anyone get an easy A, but it's possible to get one if you work hard.
Seriously smart, really good at explaining complex ideas, hilarious, and clearly fascinated by math - I'd take every future math class with him if I could.
Ross is an amazing teacher. I've had him for 3 terms now and will only take math class with him. I work my schedule around his classes to make sure i can be in them. he helps you thoroughly and he makes math fun which is hard to do mind you! he gives you take home quizzes and graded problems, study a lot and you will be fine, tests are hard
I Loved taking Ross, he's a great teacher. If you aren't understanding something you can easily go to him for help. I would definitely try to take all of my math classes with him. He knows what he's talking about, and you can tell he enjoys math
Ross was an awesome teacher. He takes extra time to explain things when you don't understand. He's super easy to talk to and pretty funny guy. I would take another class from him and would recommend him to everyone I know.
Took him from Math 65-111. Very helpful and open to meeting with me on the regular for homework questions. The course is pretty hard, but prepared me well for my following courses. He's also very cute and laughs a lot. Great teacher.
Extremely hard grader. Good teacher, but makes his tests, homework, and quizzes using much harder problems then the ones he goes over in class.Would definitely be a good teacher if you were taking the class for a second time.
Ross is a great teacher. He is very willing to go over anything you don't understand. I would recommend him to anyone.
I love Ross! He is hilarious, and is extremely smart. But his class is SO HARD. If you want an easy class, don't take this. I am barely passing but I already signed up to take his class again because he is a really good teacher.
I really liked Ross's class, even though it was tough. He gives very clear lectures and works hard to make sure you understand the material. He put a lot of work into our class even though he had a newborn, so I'm grateful for that. Tests were challenging; he is one of the few instructors to incorporate book questions, so make sure you do your HW!
I would say Ross is a great instructor. I like his teaching style even though most of the people were complaining about it.Each term half of the class dropped not because he didn't teach well but couldn't keep up to his challenges.Ross also has got office hours that I think is very helpful.I would strongly recommend to anyone who likes a challenge.
Honestly I got a good grade, but Ross went through the class very fast specially on end of the course. His exams were very hard and the assignments that he gave us were hard and he was very picky to grade the quizzes and grading assignments and exams, and also THE FINAL EXAM WAS TOO HARD, so I never recommend him.
Ross teaches really fast but efficient. He has packets everyday we fly through. He's a nice guy and is fun but sometimes it feels that he tries to prove how hard 112 can be and he tests hard. Students taking 112 with other teachers don't seem to have the overwhelming and defeated feeling as my class does.
Ross is a great teacher. He does not use the textbook, but the packets he hands out cover everything for the course. I took him for MTH111 & MTH112 and got all 'A'. The important thing to get high grade in his class is you have to review the packets that you did in the class. What you learned in the packets are similar to what you see in the exam.
Ross is a fun teacher but he isn't clear at all. He moves way too fast and doesn't spend much time helping you out. I took 112 over with Diane Whitfield and I have an A now. Ross is more interested in showing you how hard Trig can be instead of actually helping you out. His worksheets have problems he made up that are ridiculous.
Ross is a great teacher. Easily understood as long as you attend every class and do the homework. Always available for help outside class even if office hours don't work for you, he will make an appt. Very particular about format, though this is helpful for high math classes.
I took elementary functions with professor Kouzes last spring. I loved his teaching style and heavy use of printed packets to structure lecture. He did not collect HW, all points were earned through exams and quizzes. Quizzes and exams were fairly hard, but not unfair. I studied my butt off and made an A on every test and quiz. Great teacher!
I also took Ross for 112, and honestly have to say he's one of the best professors I've ever had. His explanations are concise, but he's always willing to help during lab or office hours and explain comprehensively. His upbeat-attitude, obvious love for the subject, and good sense of humor all make the class enjoyable when it should be difficult.
Ross is a great teacher and great person. If your going to take one of his classes just know that you need LOTS of time outside of class for homework. I always struggle with Mathematics and my grade is only a reflection of my lack of time to see him, or a tutor, outside of class. If you have the time and really want to learn Ross is the teacher.
Great teacher!
Fantastic instructor. Makes difficult material easy to understand, always available to help students, funny, and clearly knows his stuff. My only issue is that he grades extremely harshly (particularly on notation), so you will most likely lose a lot of points even when you get the correct answers.
Worst teacher I ever had at PCC. He would write rude sarcastic comments on my tests, he wasn't helpful at all. I got a D in his class and when I took it with a different teacher I understood everything 100% and got a B in there. He didn't give reviews and constantly belittled the class, making it obvious that he thought he was superior to us.
Tests were outrageously hard, even had to discount one of the problems on an exam because most of the class didn't understand it. Goes way too fast. He'll help you in his office but if you aren't a math genius, you'll have a hard time keeping up with this guy. I withdrew from his class after my D on the midterm and retook it online and got an A!
Ross is a really cool guy and a good (albeit picky) teacher. Very hard on students about notation, which could be considered helpful in the long run but most teachers just care that you understand it. It is frustrating when the only thing that got you a B instead of an A was the fact your equal signs weren't lined up perfectly. Fun class though!
Math is hard. Don't panic! Ross has this ability to spoon feed you the information, and as long as you participate in your education; you will get that A. Do yourself a favor, go to office hours because, yes, he'll take half a point for notation; as he should. Tough, fair; the absolute highlight of my week!!
I've taken Ross for 112, 251, and 252. The only reason I'm not taking his 253 section is because it filled up super quickly. He's more than happy to work with you on literally anything- you just have to work up the gut to ask. He's super chill and fun and easily one of my favorite professors at the college.
Ross is an excellent teacher! He has a very clear grading criteria, and he lets you know how you are doing in the class periodically. He's funny, and he also is very clear with his explanations. If you don't understand it, he's really patient and will answer your questions. He also grades homework incredibly fast! I highly recommend him!
Ross is an awesome teacher. I have taken Math 112, and 251 with him. I'm taking DE currently. If I could, I would have taken all my math classes with him. Don't expect math to be easy. However, he helps you to get through it.
He made everything surprisingly easy and possible with his outstanding lecture notes. He broke the total grade into many small bits so there are many opportunities to make up. So, even I took this class in 8 week Summer with 3 other classes, I feel very comfortable and easy going in his class. We went through each topic step by step thoroughly.
He doesn't really teach you, he just shows some examples and calls it good. He is very picky and wants things done his way, and doesn't want you showing any extra work (even if it helps you learn), he doesn't want to see it. I advise you not to take him if you can help it, especially if math isn't a strong subject for you.
He goes very fast, and his tests/quizzes are harder than the homework he gives. He also takes off lots of points from just simple errors that should only lose maybe 1 point. He's also arrogant and extremely picky. Try to take any other math teacher.
Best maths teacher I've had. He goes through the material quickly, but will slow down if you ask. He always gives out packets that are incredibly helpful, and made Stats easy for me.
I feel like I am taking the class to please him, not to learn for MY benefit. He does respond quickly to emails, so that's a bonus. But, he doesn't really answer your question, so what's the point? He nit-picks you for notation, and these points add up quickly on a test. If you are not strong in math, I highly recommend another instructor.
He is the best math instructor that I have had yet. His lectures are very informative and fun to participate in. I enjoy coming to class because he creates a positive learning environment and is always available for help. I encourage you to take him if you want a passionate and happy instructor.
Ross was very helpful and accessible outside of class. . . make sure you have a solid base of Math 95 or Algebra 2. The class was still really hard for me even though I took Alg 2 twice in HS. Get help from tutors in the library and from him. Don't need the book, you can check it out from the library + bookwork not graded!! unlike Cakebreads class.
Ross is fun, energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate about Math. He finds a great balance between answering questions, making jokes, and staying on task. He makes himself regularly available at the study center to coach students through the homework. He has clear grading policies which allow for mistakes without wrecking your grade.
Ross is a good teacher. Because this class has a lot of material, it just felt rushed. I don't think he really explained things all that well. But he's understanding and is dedicated to his students. Be ready to put in your own time studying.
He is a great person super easy to talk to but he doesn't explain what he is doing in math well enough for me to understand. He also only grades his assignments on the steps of the problem and not if you get the problem right so you can lose a lot of points like that. Overall hes an okay professor you just have to do the homework to understand.
Single best professor I have ever had. His provided notes are flawless, his lectures constantly engage the students. He answers questions efficiently, provides ample material online, bookwork/practice tests prepare you for the tests. He's smart, funny, and it breaks my heart I can't take any more classes with him. Highest recommendation.
Ross has clear grading criteria. I felt comfortable asking questions, and would show me how he got the answers. Answers to email in a timely manner. Clear feedback. If you are student like me who is not very good at math, then do all of the homework that are listed. Take advantage of his office hours. Don't expect math to be easy! Do your part.
Tried to be funny instead of teaching at times. Didn't explain things as thoroughly as we needed. The same questions would come up many times in a row due to his poor explanations.
The only positive thing I have to say about Ross is that he gives clear grading criteria, I appreciate that. However, I strongly dislike him as an instructor & a person. He is arrogant and doesn't slow down when you're not understanding. His test standards take away from the concept. There are no chances to make a mistake. Consider yourself warned.
Ross is not well suited as a professor. Does not seem to expect that students come to him to learn. As a result he has a very patronizing behavior towards students especially if you ask questions. I remember students saying they were afraid to ask questions coz they knew how he would give them "that look" I don't recommend, look hard for diff prof

Ross is an OK teacher, but prepare to get nickle and dimed on tests. He never discusses or talks about all his little nit picky grading things you will loss points for on a test. I lost points for a grammatical syntax difference of opinion. In a math class... He also puts at least one question on each test with the purpose of catching people up.
Ross is easily the worst teacher I've ever had. I have retaken MTH 111 with a different prof and gotten a B. Not only did I get a better grade, I actually understood the material. Ross belittles his students if they ask for help. He expects perfection when it comes to written work, and marks you down if you have little notes that help you learn :(
Ross on my exam: "You lost at least two negatives and it's hard to decide what you missed or understood." I think that speaks for itself...I'm not the best at math, but I recommend another instructor. I retook this class with another teacher & received an A. My advice? Match your learning style to their teaching style. For me, definitely not Ross!!
He is a very difficult teacher who does not respect his students. I struggled in his class a few terms ago, and then retook this class with a different professor and I got an A. He makes it very difficult to learn and ask questions.
He is a very hard teacher who dehumanizes his students. He shows little respect to most students, unless you are very good at math. He loves belittling you by leaving unhelpful comments on your papers. I took this class again with a different teacher and got an A. Stay away from him.
Ross likes to believe that he is funny and relatable, but his videos of pigs in the middle of class are not funny and they don't help me learn math. When I would actually try to ask him a question about math, he belittled me and made me feel as if I was not doing the work when in fact I had participated and attended every day of class. Do not take!
NotHe is not a good math teacher. Not at all.
Ross is hands down one of the best math teachers I have had. I have taken him for multiple different math classes and he is great about building on material from his previous classes. He explains material very clearly and manages to keep it interesting which is always helpful in a 2+ hr math class. His homework load is very manageable as well.
Math is not my strong suit, and I didn't do very well at the start of the term. I actually did well on an assignment and was really proud of myself until he approached me about the grade. He falsely accused me of cheating. Therefore I withdrew from his class because I knew I didn't have a teacher who supported my learning. Worst experience ever.
Teach is fine, nice enough guy. Wildly specific and nitpicky grading criterion, will take off a letter grade's worth of points on exams and homework if you don't do things in the precise order he does, don't word things exactly like him, or do not notate the same as him. Will take off points for not using on every single line of work. Do not take
He gives a ton of homework; graded quiz and a correctable quiz which I think is very cool because as long as you're doing your homework on time (correctable) you're getting points. Also, he explains very well and I was very encouraged. The class wasn't super hard but you needed to pay attention and practice.
Ross is a good professor. He doesn't assign much homework, but the homework he does assign makes sure you know the material. He's a friendly person and likes his students. One thing to note is that he is a pretty tough grader. For example, he will take off half a point for imbalanced parenthesis. Overall I'd recommend him.
Ross is a amazing instructor. I took him for both MTH 251 and 252 and in both of these classes he was understanding, always available to meet and help you. He is humorous and everyone in class loves him. He may not require the textbook or give book hw, but he does assign lab assignments and the book work helps understand the material more.
Absolutely amazing teacher! I hadn't taken a math class or looked at a math problem in two or three years. He did an amazing job of explaining the material, and making sure that he could answer any questions people had. The tests are thorough and can be challenging, but if you study and ask for help during office hours you'll be able to pass.
I have never seen Ross being disrespectful or patronizing to any student, and he's always very willing to help. During lab time, he'll be sure to check on every student, even if they don't ask for help. He makes his expectations clear and even admits he's a pedant, so he will clearly tell you what he will/will not accept on a test when teaching.
Wonderful teaching abilities. He was able to explain things in a clear manner, and was always able to help me if I was struggling with certain topic. I don't think there is a better math teacher at PCC.
I was worried that Calc. 1 was going to be extremely difficult, but he gave very in depth explanations and made sure that everyone in the class understood the material. He did a great job of preparing us for Calc. 2 as well.
His tests were challenging at times, but if you do the homework and talk to him about the areas you're struggling in you should do just fine. I definitely felt like I was given complete and accurate descriptions of each section we cover in Calc. 2.
I was worried about taking Calc. 3 since I had heard from lutiple people that it was an extremely challenging course, but Ross broke down the material very well and made it easy to understand. It's a challenging subject, but he taught it well and kept everyone engaged making it much more enjoyable to learn.
He does a horrible job at explaining problems. Every problem is rushed and then we are quickly moving on to something else. He does not allow for homework questions during class. Every class we have to learn two/three new chapters. He takes points off assignments if you show too much work. I could go on and on. I would not recommend him to anyone.
Just awesome, the absolute favorite out of all my math teachers I have had at PCC. Cant recommend him enough.
Kouzes is possibly the best math professor I've ever had. Works through content and problems at a good speed. Lectures aren't dry in the least. Funny. Really wants to see you succeed.
Ross is a good professor. The only thing I don't like is he goes over the easiest problems in class/on notes, and then puts extremely difficult problems on his exams. It's pretty frustrating. His study guides are confusing and absolutely no help. Hes a funny guy, and really nice, but he needs to reevaluate what he teaches and what's on his exams.
Ross is very clear about his grading and expectations. If you want to pass this class, do your homework, turn in your graded assignments/quizes, review the lesson videos and if you struggle on your first quiz ( go to after hours). Things move fast in this class but that's why he makes himself available for tutoring and afterhours. He's a cool guy.
The only issue I had with this class was how the tests weren't exactly reflective of what was taught in class (the tests were a fair bit harder than any of the assignments he gave.) Aside from this, Ross is a wonderful teacher who really cares about you. If you ask for help, he is extremely accommodating and flexible.
He is really nice man but very tough grader , he will mark you for the simplest thing and you will be shocked that you solved everything right but you missed just a little - 0r + or then your grade would be down by a lot
I've taken three math classes with Ross, he goes above and beyond for his students. My advise to anyone taking his classes is to go to office hours. Specially, if you have a hard time keeping up with the material, he will walk you through it. This is an easy class if you do the work, otherwise don't expect to pass.
Ross made me love math again! I struggled with a lot of concepts, but he was always available to clarify and guide me through the problem without straight up giving me the answer. He is a tough grader, but it only makes you more aware of what you're doing in the long run!
Ross is an extremely nice person, and it shows in contact and class announcements. However, many things in the class felt disconnected from one another (typically labs and lectures), and I feel as though I was never "quite there" from reading the book and watching lectures. To me, Ross seems like a professor best taken in person, if possible.
Probably best not to take math web classes from PCC, it felt rushed. The schedule was tight, so it was really hard to keep up and get good practice. What's more frustrating was how the final exam's due date was changed twice when I'd already finished it. So I took the final exam before I was even prepared.
He is a good teacher with a good sense of humor. You can tell he is a teacher who cares for his students. A little bit of a tough grader but hes very generous with deadlines on assignments/tests.
Ross covers the material in an easy to learn way. He is particular in the way he wants problems solved/set-up but he makes it very clear what is acceptable. The class is test heavy with about 8-10 assignments to check understanding of key concepts. Overall, he is a wonderful teacher, but be prepared to study and memorize equations for each test.
I had Ross for MTH 252 and MTH 253. Ross is very entertaining in class and makes the topic very approachable. He is also very visual and has Desmos graphs for almost every topic, which helps to make the subject more clear. He is very patient and understanding. You can tell he really cares about making sure all his students understand the subject.
Ross is a good teacher in class and is accessible outside class. He's a nice guy as well, but when it comes to grading he does not care if you get the right answer. All he cares about is getting every piece of notation correct. So much as forgetting to extend a square root bar over scratch work will knock you a point. His tests can be weird too.
Ross is a good and smart teacher, but he goes too quickly and often skips steps that in his mind are "basic knowledge". He jokes about content memorization in belittling ways. He doesn't provide study guides, except for 15+ yr old ones from a different professor making them useless. The work load to genuinely understand concepts is massive. Avoid!
Ross is a tough grader, and the lectures were very memorable. It was a pleasure to be in his class, he has a great sense of humor and explains calculus very well. The tests are difficult, but asking clarification questions during the test is allowed and helps a lot. I highly recommend doing extra work outside of class if you want a good grade.
Ross is not for the weak and non motivated.
Ross will likely be one of the most supportive, engaging, & intelligent professors you'll ever have. But, his class will likely also be one of the hardest courses you've ever taken, with high expectations. He expects lots of you, you'll have to work very hard if you want to do well. Tough exams with tricky bits often, but his grading is gracious.
Ross is a tough professor, but engaging with his methods pays off. The tests are challenging, but asking questions during them helps a lot. Supplement lectures with extra work and tools like Unstuck study - it saved me time on study prep.
This is probably the hardest math class I've ever taken, but also the easiest to improve on. Ross is a clear, caring instructor who puts a lot of time into helping his students succeed. Definitely challenging, and there are definitely rough patches, but with Ross as a professor there's no reason you can't come back from any bad assignment or exam.
Mr. Kouzes is one of the best math teachers out there! He's funny, calm, and genuinely caring. His approach to teaching and testing makes you feel relaxed, not stressed. He gives plenty of time for assignments and focuses on learning over grading pressure. I'm really going to miss him and his class!
