damn hard tests!
sexiest man alive
good but tough
Excellent Prof!
One of the TOP 5 ITM profs. An awesome VB prof, great personality overall.
Looks like Mr Rogers
One Hot Mr. Rogers
One of the finest profs in ITM...actually tells funny jokes..
Hilarious! Made programming interesting (if that's possible).
One of the hardest teachers in Ryerson
He looks like that teacher dude from southpark! Mr. Garrison I think!
Good Prof, hard to get an A in his class
The greatest teacher that ever lived
wonderful prof. One I'll always remember. Very funny too.
Hilarious prof! and he actually teaches!
Awesome prof!!! Made programming fun! Tough tests and exam thou.
great guy, A+ prof
Good teacher.. funny man.. but tests and exams were tricky and hard
Those U of T jokes get old. Pick another school to make fun of, Sir! Queen's&#
Great prof, tries to prepare you for the real world
One of the better profs, woulda been nice if all classes had same due dates
2 Hard. Not funny. Not helpful (deliberately goes by quickly so you can't copy)
best teacher ever
Amusing guy, helpful, but tough tests
great prof, know ur ish and u'll be fine
The people in the other guy's sections weren't nearly as ready for the final!
Great Prof, amusing, helpful and understanding.
he's not an amazing prof, but he's funny....an easy B
Funny, hard marker.prepares u for exam.(makes the exam normally)
wonderful professor! motivating, encouraging, and teaches real life experiences
MOST WONDERFUL PROFESSOR ALIVE..
tells a lot of U of T jokes, easy to listen to but picky marker
Good prof, uses comic relief to his advantage to teach the course well
hates u of t which is funny, overall is funny
Hilarious prof, makes you want to do the work
Decent, erratic at times.
-----GREATEST PROF IN THE ITM DEPT----------------
He taught me in 1995, in CBS100. His favorite saying “Behave you Savage!”
If u really want to learn something, get a class with him. Great Prof two thumps
Arrogant and proud. No compassion.
One of the best ITM professors
This man is full of himself. Zero compassion.
He explaines everything you'll ever need in class AND makes fun of U of T!!!!
Cold blooded.
His assignments and tests are filled with ambiguity. He's unreasonable at times. He's not as knowledgable in Access as a prof should be. His jokes aren't funny, really. However, take his class and you WILL learn because of the depth of the assignments.
Very difficult prof. that makes assignments so hard that even he cannot respond to questions about it.
makes course way too hard for no reason; he knows it and everyone knows it. he seems to be a very bitter man, although he is very funny. the class started out promising but it all went to hell
Very funny man, makes class entertaining. Practically gives the code for the assignments, but he leaves it up to the students to read the textbook, just a class full of a bunch of babies!
Looks like Preston Manning, incredibly funny, class isn't too hard, complaints about him on this board were probably made by U of T dropouts... ::ducks:: The best you're going to get for programming in ITM since you don't have Ferworn.
He's hillarious! I loved this class. The only thing we didn't like is that he kept pushing for VB in Access when it isn't really necessary. Good prof tho.
He is a great prof! I've had him for two courses so far, and he's been excellent in both. His tests and exams were hard but fair. Just do your readings and pay attention to his tips for assignments and you'll do well.
Very hard!
Best prof ever...if ur not in his class...u don't know what ur missing
This is one class that i really do not mind showin up for! He is def not a hard prof, he does the assigment with u in class! whats hard about that? paying attention?
he cannot teach! talk to himself!
Aside from being a great teacher he's gotta be as dumb as a rock when it comes to technology. He's so brainwashed by Microsoft and Bill Gates, that he cannot accept facts from anything else. He can't even read an article properly. Too long to write here.
good prof...down to earth, good sense of humour...course wasn't easy, but he could have made it unnecessarily hard...tests were fair, assignments were marked randomly
way to go hawk-eye! good guy with good sense of humor, does assigns in class with you, if you pay attention this class is easy as pie
Funny prof, always do his assignment and pay attention in class. The assignment will help you alot later on.
cool teacher...good
Sometimes I get the feeling he doesn't know what he's doing. I don't like that he takes 1/4 off for wrong answers, why doesn't he just make a regular test? Assignments are ok. Overall he's a funny guy who makes me laugh. And yes, U of T sucks.
Best teacher ever! He made 4 people cry this year with insults ... ok maybe only me 4 x, but he is funny as hell and is so helpful, all he has to use is blackboard
read programming for dummies
ha ha ha he he. It's all fun and games til you hit the final. TRUST ME!!!
This prof is hilarious - he's pretty easy-going and makes class less boring than it actually is. Assignments are pretty straightforward as long as you do homework but the final is pretty challenging despite the fact it's open book! Study and u'll be ok.
One of the best prof's I've had at Rye. Funny guy who's enthusiastic and will help you if you need it. Tests and assignments are fair, and will help with the final. It'll be easy to get an A as long as you do the assignments (on your own)
He is one of the worst profs ever! He taught the course while he was still learning the material. he try's to cover it up with insults on students & U of T..he marks extremely hard by taking marks off for the wrong m/c answer AND his final is a killer..and also isnt flexible with bumping a marks up!
He's a very funny prof and teaches okay, but it was a subject I just could NOT get. He does parts of assignments in class and rambles pretty often (as entertaining as it may be).
i liked this class A LOT. and its not entirely because of him. final was easy, assignments are easy. anyone who thinks otherwise was not trying at all. i just didnt like the test with the quarter mark off. that was the only bad part;)
access was a lot better than 200 but Macnaughton's assignments are the worst. His ass's are always really long with those tricky questions that take you a day to figure out. Do ur assignments in groups. This course is a definate asset but watch out for the quarter mark deductions on tests.
he got issues. he called as Hotboys :( weird prof
He swears alot... and his examples never work...
Awesome guy but his assignments are hard and take forever to do. Good lecturer too but for some reason I could not get the material. I can't believe I got the mark I did.
assignments are long and the final is a killer...but lectures are fun
he's an awesome guy! His examples are really clear! If you copy everything down you'll barely have to look at the book for help with your assignments or studying for tests! Funny as hell to i hope to have him again!
He's an awesome prof..yeah his jokes are a little corny and he swears n'all, but he gets you to LISTEN! And that's the important part! His learning-by-doing technique is very effective as oppose to reading a 300-page boring book.
Good Prof. Love his UofT jokes!
The best ITM professor to date, his teaching method of learning by doing technique is very effective. I wish other ITM profs and courses were like this but unfortunately not(ITM405). All you have to bring in Ross's class is your attention and that don't won't be hard, he will keep you awake. The only downside the TA marks the assignments grr!.
Good Prof and teaches well. The only complaint I have is the 1/4 mark off for every wrong answer. Cost me a lot of marks, but I killed the exam to get a good grade in this course.
Okay prof...very funny though...this guy swears randomly...DON"T talk in his class...you will enjoy it...i am not much of a programmer...so i didn't do well...but he is a good prof overall...
avoid him. makes you work your a** off when other classes are a breeze. Definitely not taking his classes again. His lames joke definitely dont work 9am in the day! useless
does not utilize all tools available for students to the fullest (ie blackboard and discussion board for students). Friendly guy outside of class and humourous, but a very typical university prof out of TV. Gives you that feeling he is a bit of a "box pusher" with students in such a large class. Too bad I won't be passing!
if u didnt take high school computers, save your money and dont take this course b/c you wont understand anything when you're about 2months in his course. Its obvious everybody cheats/copies off each other when doing the 8 assignments (4 assigns, 2parts each) he gives us b/c more then 1/2 the class failed the midterm. If you're lazy.. hahaha GL HF
He is a great guy. All this comments about him are not true. If you failed this course it is because you were not even interested to understand the course material and you were not showing up for classes. I've never studied VB before and I got an A+. And another thing...stop memorizing and try understanding the algorithms!
Great prof! He knows how to get and keep your attention, and he knows what he is talking about. Teaches the course through hands-on exercises, which are extremely helpful. If you have to take this course, take it with him!
Amazing prof! Makes hilarious jokes and the course itself is practically a JOKE. DOWN WITH U OF T haha!
He makes lame and very inappropriate jokes. Guys love him because he makes sexual comments about everything. he has a set of jokes that he repeats every year. Doesn't really care much, but is very easy on tests. He keeps dissing U of T students, but he is a U of T grad himself and also when it came to it: he hired his TA from U of T
MacNaughton is hilarious. Yea he used the same jokes throughout the semester, but he still made me laugh in class. He does a good job of teaching the VB concepts. Make sure you go to class and take down his notes. Tests hurt a bit, with the quarter mark deduction. He's pretty helpful after class, and he's willing to look over your code.
He is very unfair with deadlines, and if you pass one even by a few hours he will take off 20%. And his tests are extremely difficult for those who have never taken programming prior to this course. And, makes final exams so long, you can't finish. Basically, stay away from any of his classes. Very bad at explaining during class.
Smart and funny guy! Gets your attention and keeps it. Awesome prof!
guy is a nice guy... but he looks like the university has taught him to weed out people. his lecture is just doing the program, not actually teaching you the material before tackling excercises. his tests are pretty retarded and he beautifully sets up his first midterm after the drop date so you have no choice.
Nice prof for management, able to keep you awake for 9am class. He doesn't post slides on blackboard, but if you get textbook with CD, you'll find them there. Mid term is reasonable, but I found multiple choice part on final very hard. Got B in the course, and can't say that I had to put a lot of effort to get it.
He is nice, helpful, and funny.
Lots of practical, hands on programming. If you have a knack for programming, or some experience, you'll do well. If you're new to programming, or dont have a knack for it, get another professor. They may not be as funny or easy, but they'll move slower, and go into more detail.
He's an entertaining prof, tells jokes, and share his experience, which is what keeps his class attendance 95% most of the time. However, he does do his job, and go through the material from the text. He's a bit of a tough marker, but hey, it's University!
Great prof! Makes jokes to keep us awake @ mornin class. Sit in front to get more attention. Likes to diss UT. Weekly asn is based on in class hwk, and are ez if you got it. Re-uses the similar qs for the 2-final asn. Midterm + exam is txbk questions. Gives us breaks and is always on time for class.
He was funny. Keeps you awake at 8 am.
I was pretty bored in his class. Always dissing UoT is the only thing he does, while UoT disses Ryerson...pftt. Anyway, his labs are useless, he ignores you when you correct him. I did most of the assignments at home and facebook-ed during lab, that's how fun it was. Good luck if you want him.
Great teacher for the mornings. Make sure you read the book for the lectures. Assignments and quizzes are very easy. For the Midtern and Final, read the textbook, which is a very easy read anyways.
Funniest prof in the school. But hard mid and final.
He is a funny guy. But, midterm and final were very harddddd. If you can remember text, you should be fine. Beware, simulation project might screw you over. Plus he is a hard marker.
He's a very upbeat prof especially in the morning. He makes class interesting with periodic U of T disses. One of the most enjoyable classes to sit in. Midterm and exam weren't hard. You just have to read the book. Watch out for SAMS its a bugged program. Assignments weren't hard either you just have to practice. Potential "A" class grade
Funny prof, but the workload in the course is a bit heavy for first year, somewhat of a hard marker
He's a really cool prof. For an 8:00am class he makes it pretty fun with his UofT jokes and what not. For the course itself, its not difficult if you have some bakground of IT. The midterm was alrite just study the book a few times and same with the final. Overall, this was a really great class with a really good prof. I got a A-.
This class will surely whip you into shape if you are a 1st-year. Through his course work load you learn far more than any other class and if you can handle him, then you can handle anything in Ryerson. I remember the final project was a 20 page report woo i worked hard on it and got a 95%. He is a good prof but you have to work for your marks.
Knows his stuff, keeps the class interested, has an odd but funny sense of humour. Over all a pretty good guy.
excellent
"If you guess out of 4 answers on a multiple choice test, you have 25% chance of getting it right... unless you're a UofT student, you have a 10% chance." Lawl wtfox thats gg
Good teaching style its just the course was not interesting itself.
go to his class (listen well.. get the jist of it). read the book an hour before online tests(things right out of the book will be on the test). 4.0 :)
He's a good teacher, tries to make a fairly boring class interesting, online test are easy. Biggest downfall is his TA Shanta. Shanta is moody, and full of herself. Every question you ask her she snaps at, not helpful at all. She marks the assignments and is very difficult, unclear, and unwilling to explain why she awarded the mark she did.fireher.
take my wordddddd...if you are having a bad gpa ...take his class...he is really awesome...just keep up with your work...& must read the book!!!gpa 3.333=D
He is EXTREMELY funny. It is a joy going to his classes. However, sometimes he doesn't teach properly and just go through the slides. The book has all the info anyway so I would go to his classes! I recommend. Also, pretty easy marker. Passionate about his work. VERY funny and makes classes worthwhile and they seem to end extremely fast! Take him!
Amazing! So funny
WORST PROF! He is hired by ryerson to weed out students, gave a second midterm the day before the drop date and said every wrong answer is .25 off. Makes sure stuff is tougher after the drop date and makes the final project due the day of the exam. Avoid him.
HILARIOUS prof! Really clear and helpful.. even stated himself that if you miss a test will give you a second chance even without a doctors note as long as if he feels your not full of *@%# ... also barely studied for the midterm and got a decent mark.. the course structure is a big pain however with many assessments.. overall definitely recommende
Very funny guy. Too bad the course is terribly boring. Quite a leinant marker and took hard questions off the final exam in order to bump our marks.
For first year students, you will have multiple profs for this course (a differ one each week) - this guy is the best one you will receive. He makes funny jokes to keep the room lively. The course is mandatory for nearly everyone (in business) and might be easy or hard (your mark really depends on the final exam). The lab portion is a joke though.
Attendance is 5%, unless your sick u can get 5/5% but most of us got 4.5%. Lab is soft, take any prof, but Lee is the best. The guy doesn't teach as heavily as the other profs, but like he a funny guy who hate son UofT and always warns us about virus and email. He does advertise a lot which can be annoying. He lectures pretty much like an show
Professor MacNaughton is the reason I have decided to minor in ITM. The course is divided up into 5 Professors who give lectures. Ross MacNaughton, Ken Grant, John Peco, James Norrie and Ron Babin. This is really good because they are all sick professors. He loves dissing U of T with funny jokes! LMAO =P exam is not hard just study hard and focus!
Ross -- or Ross the Boss as I like to call him is exactly what his nickname entails. He's a boss. Good Class.
Class is a ridiculously easy and the prof is pretty jokes. Always dissing UofT and cracking dirty jokes. Overall definitely recommend it.
Great prof! Very helpful and interesting. He adds a real-life touch to the course by adding humour and giving some tips based on Carnegie's book. Very down-to earth and knows the material he teachers makes the ITM course something to look forward to rather than be intimdated by. Highly recommended!
