wonderful teacher and very easy to understand! I enjoyed his class alot!
i thought he was an excellent psyc prof. one of the best. very organized notes. exams are fairly easy if studied 4, however u must make sure u understand theories well-ex. freud, pavlov, maj. of test questions based on these theorists. easy class.
Tough class - but he was very helpfull. Excellent professor - highly recommended!
overall is an easy course, except the journals
easy to get an A. the material is easy and the tests are a breeze to do (all multiple choice). however the instruction is not exciting and can get dull at times.
Great prof.! Very helpful. Interesting class. All exams including the final is multiple choice. Easy to get an A.
The best teacher I've had in Langara. He is very helpful, and very easy to understan. I recommend him.
Very good and helpful teacher. Fair exams, and a fair marker, all multiple choice questions, and a journal assignment. I strongly recommend taking his class.
Excellent class. Don't even have to show up to get an A!
If you study you are guaranteed an A+. Very fair, all multiple choice exams, and the exams are not tricky. He gives great examples during lectures. I really enjoyed his class.
Great guy. A little hung up on intelligence testing as the be all and end all of psychology. Likes to follow the study guide and takes some questions form it. Multple choice exams and some journals on the subject.
Very good prof. Teaches with clarity, very organized, very helpful and just seems like a nice guy. Tests are easy if you study, however class is sort of dull at times, especially in a 3 hour once a week block.
Read textbook, read more textbook... no his classes are not boring, just remember to have a good read on the text material as well as attend all lectures. You wouldn't want to miss his interesting lectures. He is very helpful too!
He is willing to help always. Tests are not confusing and fair. An introverted guy and a very kind person.
this class is hard! dont take this class unless youre willing to study. but ross is nice and a fair marker. he helps and explains why you get a certain mark on assign. m/c exams (easy), participation, and a huge project.
Very good first year teacher! I was amazed how he kept a large lecture hall involved and had people speaking and sharing on the first class (some shate too much...)A very motivating teacher and I would highly reccommend him as a teacher.
Really nice person, helpful and kind. He's my favourite teacher at Langara. Very interesting class. He is also good at engaging the class. Tests are not to hard if you study. He told our class he wanted a chili pepper here, so i gave him one :)
Extremely intelligent instructor, who really know his stuff. Speaks with clarity, and tries hard to involve class discussion. Exams are m/c, but he doesn't let you keep them, which is bad b/c the final is cumulative.
Helpful teacher with fun discussions in class. Sensitive and responsive to different opinions.
Great prof! Very clear and helpful. Always keeps the class interesting. I would recommend anyone take his class.
Great teacher. Laid back and makes a lot of jokes, creates good atmosphere for asking questions. Fair Marker.Mostly multiple choice exams. Make sure you read text book and make flash cards and should get an A.
Nice, easy-going prof, good sense of humour. He talks in a casual manner that's easy to understand and makes you laugh at times. 2 mid terms & a final, multiple choice. Must read text!
Fair exams...found the final kind of tricky though...maybe it's just me. Be sure to read the book/study guide!! Interesting lectures, never got bored once, would take another class of his if I could.
Ross is an awesome teacher. The content itself can be dry at times but Ross finds a way to make it bearable. I would take a class with him again. But you MUST read the TEXT to get through the m/c exams. Good Luck!
This is a tough course with its mix of arts (psychology) and science (statistics). I find him very helpful and resourceful. He is also generous on the time limits on the online tests. It's an interesting course, though.
Exams are very picky, you will need to know the material very well for this class as it is open book. Watch out for his message boards marking method 30%coursemark. Varies and completely subjective to HIS markings. 3 points for things he find objective, 2 for ok and 1 for blab postings. 0 for none.
Made a rather dull curriculum very engaging. Good lecturer.
He's a nice teacher, very approachable and knowledgeable. Midterms are brutal (75 m/c questions), most questions NOT from study guide. You absolutely need to show up to his lectures to answer some questions. However, if you don't do well on an exam, there is an option to do a paper :). A+ is 95%, which is tough to achieve. Not easy to get A.
Don't be fooled by his smile and generosity! His exams are tricky, you have to memorize the whole textbook, take notes during lecture; he talks most of the time and gives limited notes. For the exam, responsible for textbook, case studies, online readings, handouts, videos, etc. He's NOT easy. Expect a B+/B/B-/C+. Class average for exams: 64% :(
This guy made me hate psychology. :( It's a rote memorization course, where 80% of the stuff, he doesn't teach. But, he is easy going and nice, that's all.
Great Professor and great class. Highly recommended. Exams are M/C and easy if you read the book, attend class, and ummmm STUDY! Even so, if you do not like your mark he gives you an option of writing a short essay instead. Funny and easy going guy who prefers first name Ross to Professor or Doctor Woolley. Great.
every semester, 120 students register into his class and by the end, they realize the 'easiness' ratings have deceived them. I was one of them! take him and be evaluated solely on all multiple choice exams... and obtain an average mark. read the text, and your efforts will show, but don't expect an A. No mandatory paper, which is nice.
I'm shocked that his rating is so high! I took 1215 with him. I got an A b/c I studied the text not because I learned anything from him in class. I am psych major with honours and out of all my classes he is the worst teacher I have come across! I found he was unengaging and that he contributed nothing during class time. Nice man but poor teacher.
One of the few teachers that is able to keep the curriculum not only understandable but entertaining! His notes (as long as you keep up with readings) provide a plinth for psychological learning
Ross Woolley is a nice guy. His exams are relatively easy. He's friendly and approachable and he's definitely a hard marker. It's so easy to get an A in his class especially if you read the text and hand in the assignments on time.
He's a nice guy and the classes are interesting (for three hour classes). Fair marker. Classes aren't really mandatory to attend though some material from videos are on the final. Overall I had a good semester with him, no complaints.
Awesome teacher!!
Ross was a fabulous teacher. Ross was an awesome teacher!!Overall the course was very interesting and I enjoyed going to class. His tests were very fair and with attending his lectures and a bit of study it's easy to do well in his class.
This is an incrediable teacher! Everything is right out of the text and you don't have to memoize it you have to understand it, since most of his tests are multiple choice and application questions. I would recommend anyone to take this teacher, and plus he is extreamly understanding. Great teacher and great learning experience!
Ross is a super friendly person, very fair, listens to all of your ideas, funny, bashful, a little shy, very approachable.
Ross is a super friendly person, very fair, listens to all of your ideas, funny, bashful, a little shy, very approachable. He is totally modest and very prepared
most excellent professor!
shy lecturing at times but very aproachable and helpful, will have make up assignment if you have valid reason. he goes over parts of the text so you still have to read maybe 70% of it, and do the online discussions if you are in mix mode
He taught through an online course and I found him very accessible. He interacted with the students in discussions and he replied to emails quite quickly. He almost had an assignment every week and his instructions were unclearsometimes but he's a fair marker. Keep up with the readings and discussions and you should be fine.
Ross is great. Extremely prepared, tries to make class fun, is funny and overall a great guy. His tests are fairly easy if you are well prepared and his online notes are really helpful. He is a fair marker and if you go see him during office hours, he will definitely help. Take his course!
Ross is such a great Prof! I recommend taking at least one of his classes before leaving Langara. He makes his lectures interesting by making jokes along the way but still manages to get through everything. He gives out multiple questions tests for every chapter! Just make sure you read the textbook and go to his lectures, SO WORTH IT!
Easy class if you do the readings...found the lectures not that interesting and not a lot of new content...so do the readings!!
Great prof. if you do the reading, exams are all multiple choice and no doubt you will get A. Lectures are not mandatory, but he makes things clear with examples. And he's exam questions are based on examples, so it helps. Recommend.
Awesome teacher. All tests are multiple choice.
Don't know if it was the course but he focuses way too much on non-scientific theories (psychoanalysis, humanistic psych). Course is harder half online, easy to miss deadlines. Mediocre lecturer. Exams, like all for this course, is simple multiple choice.
One of my favorite teachers, both classes i took with him i received an A. Helpful Hint for the final he rewords or uses the exact same questions from previous midterms, look over your old midterms before your final and i guarantee you will get 90%, that is what i did for both of his classes.
Dr. R Woolley is a great prof. He's a very down to earth, fair, nice guy. He genuinely cares about his students and material. Highly recommended.
Ross is a great prof! His lectures are interesting and funny, and he genuinely cares about his students. We had to do group projects for this class, and he set aside time to walk through everything with each group. He recognizes what material is difficult and spends extra time to help students understand. Exams are fair if you do your readings.
mixed mode. His lectures were very well done. Friendly with a no BS approach. Really enjoyed his class.
His class was easy and attendance wasn't mandatory. He has 4 quizzes all worth 2% consisting of a short paragraph answer and you get to choose from two questions. His exams are based on the textbook chapters like 85%
I normally don't write reviews, but I feel R. Woolley really deserves one. Woolley is an amazing prof. He is also prompt with his email if you have any Qs. This course is an easy A, and his midterm & final exams are mc and straight from the textbook, so no surprise Qs at all, just as long as you read the textbook. I didn't put much effort into the course, and I got an A. Definiitely a gpa booster, which I really needed!
Currently in his 1215 class. Ross is an awesome professor. By far my favourite prof at Langara as well. I really recommend you take a class with him.
Dr. Woolley is a fantastic instructor, and I found the course to be very interesting. The tests consisted entirely of multiple choice questions (mts had 50, final had 75) and the overall class average was 79%. He is quite funny too! Even though the tests are based entirely on the textbook, the lectures are worth attending for his humor alone :)
By far my favourite psych professor at Langara. It's really impossible not to do well in his class.
By far my favourite professor at Langara, period. Took psyc 1215 and currently taking 2320 with him. He makes a boring research methods book pretty interesting, and he has a great sense of humour. When you go to his office for help, he actually helps you and is very clear. I can't recommend him enough. Take him if you have a chance.
This guys an awesome teacher! He's super nice and is really interesting during lectures. He gets people involved in what he's trying to teach and I love how our grades are based on our tests rather than stupid group projects or pop quizzes or projects. If you want to take this course, I recommend Mr. Woolley :)
He is simply amazing!! His tests are mostly mc and his final is non cumulative, his lectures are interesting and often hilarious. I loved everything about this guy and his teaching!
Ross is simply awesome. I took his research methods class last semester and his 1215 class prior to that. Definitely one of the best psych professors at Langara. As someone who has gone on to pursue psychology at UBC, I would strongly recommend you try to take the research methods course with him. He made everything so clear and is fair.
This class was definitely a lot work. The course itself is 70% Group project work and the rest are your finals and assignments. Ross is very clear in his expectations. He lectures for one hour; the rest of hour is on your group work. It'd be wise to use that time as its hard to meet w/ classmates outside 4x times a week. Our group met almost daily.

Ross is a very funny and knowledgable professor. He gives you written quizzes, if you read your text and attend class, you will get perfect. Tests are all multiple choice. If you check out the practice tests available in the Psych lab, it will help you prepare on what types of questions to expect. Mostly apply concepts on exams, not definitions.
Ross is the most understanding instructor. He will help you a lot. He cares a lot for his students. His exams are fair but not easy. If you study well you will get good grades. I wish I could have more classes with him
Ross is the best instructor. His lectures are straight forward and if you study during the semester, you will be totally fine and you could have great results.
Ross takes the course material and explains it in a way that actually makes sense. His slides cover most of the exam material. He's very approachable/helpful; great resource for the group research project. Come to class often to take advantage of the time he gives you to do group work, otherwise you'll have to do a lot outside of class hours.
This class was honestly the best class I took and I don't want it to end Ross is an amazing proff he is very clear asks you If everyone got the lecture and If any questions. He is a very funny guys so you enjoy the classes try to study for quizzes because they are fair and you can get marks if you study.
VERY NICE!
Hes super nice and funny. I took 1215 as a half online course with him. Read the text and go to class. Mid terms and final are all multiple choice. Do all the little launchpad assignments and you'll get an A.
He is the nicest! His lectures are always engaging and full of substance while entertaining.
Took this course as a hybrid class, only went to class for the in class quizzes and midterms. 50 mc on midterms, 75 mc on final. Make sure you do all the easy launchpad activities (worth 25% of mark). As long as you read the textbook, memorize it, then you will get an easy A.
He is a very sweet, caring, fair professor. If you show him your eagerness to learn, he would give the best support he could do for you to help. He is also so diligent, grades for writings or midterms will be posted in 1- 2 days.
He is the easiest one.
Great, hilarious prof. Took the mixed mode version, def recommend. 4 in-class quizzes (2% each, your choice of one short answer question. One will be off his lecture that day so don't really have to study), 2 midterms and final. 4% bonus marks for participation! His pwrpoints don't cover everything on exam so study the text and you'll be fine.
I took the half online version of this class and definitely recommend it. He's a good teacher. Do the laundpad assignments and get an easy A. His exams are really easy: all multiple choice, and not the tricky kind. Respectful when discussing mental disorders which is extremely important.
I took Ross's mix-mode class. He keeps things straight forward - 2 midterms, 4 quizzes, and online m/c exercises. His lectures are interesting and I appreciated that he put his own spin on things, and likes input and questions from students. Exams are all non-cumulative and m/c, based off of text and lectures. GPA booster if you make basic effort!
Gives off major dad vibes. He is so nice and willing to accommodate student needs. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Tests are MC and so long as you read the book you will be fine. I've had easier teachers than him but none that care as much. I don't like psychology but he made it bearable. An A is 90-95% though so a bit harder to get.
Ross's class is very fun and interesting. He makes class a breeze and is quite hilarious. Fairly simple tests, all multiple choice, so long as you study his notes and read the textbooks you will do fairly well. Take PSYC 1215 with him if you're planning on taking it, strongly recommend!
Really nice, solid dude; hes teaching a pretty heavy and dryly-written class but his lectures arent boring at all. Gives awesome, targeted feedback on the term projects!
Ross is a great prof who is very kind and helpful during and after class. The group project took a lot of extra time outside class, so be prepared for that, but you will learn some great experimental application skills.
Lectures only necessary to do well on the quizzes. 2 midterms, 1 final, all multiple choice and all based on the textbook. Tries to make lectures more interesting which is appreciated, nice guy, very chill. Would very much recommend
Very nice professor. Lecture is okay. Exam is all multiple choice. Need to read textbook to do well in the exam. Overall, pretty easy A if you're hard-working.
Amazing prof. Super easy course, much easier than 1115. Just make sure to do all launchpad assignments (Y) SONA points for easy bonus marks if you take part in the research study.
One of, if not the best Psych profs you could ever have at Langara. Fun, enthusiastic and tries his very best to make lecture material as interesting as he can! Not to mention he has great humor and is willing to help whenever he can! Exams were kinda tough, though I never bought the textbook.
He made the class really fun, and his lectures stuck. Do all the online assignments for easy marks, and read the textbook for the exams (2 exams, final 30%, and 4 in-class quizzes). This class is very straight forward, and he'll be there to clear anything up for you. Great prof!
he made psych 1215 so much easier than psych 1115. he's pretty comedic and makes class fun even during my evening class. exams are pretty straightforward. Not that hard if you study the terms. also the launchpad assignments are surprisingly simple, just watch videos and do practice assignments for marks. would take him again 100%
You can be apart of psych studies and gain an extra easy %4. My course was half online and you do have to read a lot of content that is not covered in his lectures which is okay. There are some questions on his tests that are a little tricky. There are two midterms and a final. All not cumulative so each exam has less than three chapters.
I had Ross for PSYC 1215 and he was great. There are three exams: two midterms and a final, and they are quite easy as long as you take good notes and study. Also, the LaunchPad assignments were quite easy, not to mention that you can gain an extra 4% for participating in research. I would recommend him to anyone planning to take this course.
good prof.
Mixed Mode. Launchpad worth over 1/4 of the course. Exams are multiple choice + generous SONA bonus marks. Engaging/interactive lecturer. Encourages you to make connections to world outside classroom. He shares his experience working as a psychologist/academic. If you're not already interested in psych you will be. Kind, patient & openminded.
great professor, make psyc so interesting and be sure to read the books for the exams, as long as you go to the class, read the books, understand the terms, should be a really simple A, all multiple choice questions on the exam, I was late for me final for 15 mins (and he still let me in). Sum it up, definitely GPA booster for me
There was a lot of online assignments and they werent worth too much but they can add up. It is better to study off the textbook than to read his PowerPoint. His exams are mc and are based off the textbook.
Ross's lectures are truly fascinating, and you can tell he's just a great, genuine guy. Definitely study the textbook, as his notes do not cover everything that will be on the exam. Even you don't do as well on exams, there are lots of other ways to make up for the grade! his dimples are also very cute lol
Very easy and straightforward as long as you read the material. I took the mixed modes class and all of his tests are multiple choice. The course is more dependant on launchpad than the lectures (its more of just extra help in my opinion).
Ross' course was a hard one, if I could go over and redo it I would choose another prof. He was a hard marker and I am in the psychology program and he gave me the worst mark I've ever recieved. No chance for extra credit with him. Be careful
awesome prof, very funny and knows how to keep students engadged into the lectures. overall the content in the class wasn't that difficult only difficult thing was the exams but if you read the readings and listen to lecture you should be good. would definitely take any class with him as a professor.
Must read the textbook!! Textbook contains everything.
Dr. Ross was really one of my favorite teachers at Langara! he made psychology fun to learn! plus he used Mac Millian's Launchpad, which has a lot of practice tests and activities so that you remember the material easily (i strongly recommend you do them) Anyways, take his class for sure!
