Horrribly lazy professor. NEVER has a lesson plan and teaches from the top of his head. Tests are extremely different from what he teaches. Avoid his class if possible!
He is a tough professor I have to admit. However, you can learn a lot from him. If you are taking psychology seriously, and want some people challenge you. I highly recommend him. Once you grab his teaching style well, you will be definitely fine.
He comes off as a pitbull but he is just a puppy inside. He sort of intimidates you at first, but it's a;; a frony. He is very good, just turn in all the lab assignments and do the work..you should be fine!
He is a great prof.! Very easy to understand. At the beginning I thought he is mean and just wish to put students down but he is really nice, relaxed, and listen to students. He gives big hints for exams and papers. EXALENT!
Hassad is a great guy and an easy professor. His tests are somewhat tricky but if you do the work required of you, u will get at least an A-, that I can guarantee. His class is heaven compared to some other professor. (I took the class in the summer, I dont know if its any different during full term
he is just one of the best psych prof that hunter has...he knows how to teach really well...he seems very hard but he is not.....
He is a good professor. As long as you study your notes you will be fine. His class seems hard in the beginning but it's not. He is a cool guy.
Great professor! He makes concepts clear and is always willing to help. Exams are not difficult, but they are a little tricky. Exams usually come straight from the notes.
Great teacher, knows his stuff. Very particular with students' word choices. Overall very interesting, brings up current events. Not alot of work, but reading is required if you have trouble with the material.
Prof. Hassad is very very good! He makes everything he teaches very clear and makes sure that everyone understands. He explains how to use SPSS very well and tries to help us learn how to play around wif it wif exercises dat he goes over at the end.
The reason this class seems difficult but gets easier is because this professor is a pompous and confusing. He is condescending to the students, and the reason he is particular about wording is so he can say your answer is wrong then repeat it in slightly different synonomous words. the only way to understand is to read the book. and hes not helpf
He is helpful and good speaker. As long as you take good notes you'll be ok. Not easy but doible:)
The worse ever! Tests are very hard! Try to avoid him, you'll be sorry.
Prof.Hassad is a cool and an amazing guy. I had such a huge crush on him in the first few weeks in the semester. He is a well educated and a knowledgeable man. He is a very good speaker. He knows his stuff. I learned a lot from his class. He makes the class very interesting and easy. His exams are not that hard as long as you take good notes.
Quite possibly the best psychology professor you may ever have at Hunter!!! I encourage all of you - "please snatch this class ASAP."
good speaker, you must take the notes and you'll be alright... only one midterm and a final...
nice prof. Just study his notes. He is the best psychology prof. at Hunter.
He explains his lecture very clear. Make sure you take his notes, which is very important. His formulars and definitions always are different from testbook. Textbook will help you get the general idea of his lecture. BUt it is much less important than his notes. If you want the good grade, just study his notes and understand your homework.
Rossi is one of the best or better yet the best professor in teaching 248. He is well articulated and highly educated. I got lucky when I took his class. He makes the class interesting and explains very well. If you take this course I'm sure your gonna be familiar with the words "robust" and "central limit theorem". I urge you to take his class!!
Great Teacher- Makes the subject interesting!
really easy, doesn't like to use the textbook, and makes jokes through out class. He is a nice man and very helpful.
He starts off really tough and overwhelming, but stick with the class. He goes really fast with descriptive, and pretty fast in inferential until you get to ANOVA. After that, he goes pretty slow. Make sure you take notes. He sometimes calls on the class at random to explain a term. That's a pain, because he wants you to explain thing very clearly.
Crystal clear, pragmatic explanations. He doesn't make you jump through hoops, just honestly learn what explains to you. He is an epidemiologist, so treat him with respect, the guy deserves it.
Great professor. Extremely clear and prepared, probably the best professor for this class. He wants to get an A and will reward your effort to get one. Just do all your work and listen to his lectures and you'll be fine. Do not buy the book, you won't need it.
Don't waste your time with this Prof. He never returns emails.
I can say that his classes are well prepared for the next level of courses in experimental psychology. Attendance, note taking, and paying attention are essential to passing his tests (also, his test reviews are perfect examples of what will be on the exam). I guarantee, those who did not like him, didn't put forth effort!
Prof. Hassad is very knowledgable, extremely clear, and helpful. Only midterm and final and labs and hw. Will go fast in the beginning but take good notes, notes will help you in the exams, does not go by the textbook. excellent professor.
The absolute best psych professor Hunter has to offer! At first, he seems to be very hard but he isn't. He gives notes so that you really don't need the textbook. He is very clear and makes sure everyone understands. I learned alot in his class. He is great!
Learning Theory with Prof Hassad was a snore. He lectured from slides for a few weeks and then kind of stopped doing anything. He frequently said he would put things on blackboard, problem was he never made a blackboard page for our class. The class had no structure, one 8 page paper+one 15 page paper+final with required random presentations.Waste.
Great professor! Taught what he had to teach and was crystal clear about what he wants for papers and final. Very Intelligent. Not a hard class. Highly recommended!
Hassad did not do much, he like someone mentioned ended the course content after a few weeks. Had a penchant for some snarky responses to students "Oh really? You dont know? Thats dissapointing" . The many is clearly intelligent but comes across as unmotivated. I dont feel I got my money's worth
Great professor; you will improve your critical thinking and be well prepared for experimental methodology if you give this class your best effort. The more you and your classmates participate, the better a professor he is. If you guys are a bunch of slackers, he can be extremely passive aggressive - be warned...
He is the BEST prof. MUST TAKE. no need for textbook just go over his notes and attend class and you will pass with A
he doesnt answer his email, phone or is at his office during scheduled times. the ta does everything. the work, well you have to find out eerything on yourown. the book is so confusing never even used it, talk about a waste of money. his midterm was easy though the lab assignment are diffcult because he cant teach. take some else if you can goodluc
I hate any statistics but Hassad made it realy easy to understand everything. He tells you what you will be tested on in depth!! like what question 1 wiill be and what question 2 will be etc. Take him if you get a chance!! Never use book just needed the tables in the back.
precision; instructions are sometimes NOT clear; tells you what will be on the tests; i had nice TAs so gl to those who will take him fall semester. got his own style of writing and teaching; idk seems cool O_o; epic fail this semester when submitting grades though.
HE'S THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. HIS INTELLIGENCE AND TEACHING TECHNIQUES ARE ADMIRABLE! MAKES A DIFFICULT CLASS CLEAR TO UNDERSTAND. PROPER SPEECH. (JUST FOR FUN) OMG HE'S SOOO HOOTTTTT!
write down everything he says. go to every class. there are group lab work every week, a group paper, midterm and final. he gives quizzes every week for extra credit. find a buddy if you don't like stats you will need the help. He doesn't like explaining things again so pay attention the first time. Don't get the book. he doesn't use it.
He might be hard at the begining but as long as you work hard he will reward you! Good professor, i'm not only learn calculations but i also learned how to write great reports, that would help me by the time i take 250. Overall excellent teacher!!!
I could say that i also learned how to write great papers and reports,he gave us 1 midterm and a final, during the semester you have to do reports and papers, and manual calculations it's not that bad just be prepare with an open mind, your hard work will be reflected on your grade =)
He can be very intimidating and he never answers emails. however, he explains concepts clearly and you do not need the textbook at all. Midterm, final and group lab assignments every week and a group term paper.
Psych 248 is not an easy class, but Prof. Hassad makes it as clear as possible. He is a fair grader. Teaching is very fast paced, he covers many complex concept, that's why it is best to attend his class although attendance is not mandatory. Grade is based on Midterm (30%)and Final(30%) as well as a group porject (15%) and small group assignments.
Great professor. I absolutely hated this class, confusing material to cover, but he sifts through the useless info in the book and gives you the stuff you really need. Cracks jokes here and there and keeps you awake in class. Stay on top of your TA for grades, they could screw you. If you have to take this class, take it with him.

he is rude, not helfpul.Doesn't answer emails. he has his favorites in class. This class isn't easy and he made it even worse. One of the worst prof i ever had. for his faves he lets them slide if your not ur screwed
Although he can be really rude, he's really smart and knows his stuff! He makes stat. easy. He doesn't use the textbook but he's material is so easy to understand. He's not hard, even though he makes himself sound like a hard grader and strict instructor. He doesn't like to respond to emails, but if you pay attention in class, you'll be ok
Taking Sex and Behavior w/Hassad was awesome and super easy! There is no textbook, just had to read some articles and review some PowerPoint slides. A take home midterm (5pg paper), 10-15pg paper and a very easy final! Definitely take it if you are looking for an easy 300 level class. However, do not expect to learn much about Sex or Behavior
Great professor! He's funny, nice and really knows his subject inside out. He is great at answering questions and explaining difficult concepts and theories. I would take another class with him definitely, very intelligent professor.
Intimidating at first, but honestly one of that best at Hunter,he only want whats best for us students Explains deeply and thoroughly every topic needed 3-4 group projects but overall is a doable class just don't think too hard try to just understand the concepts! and "Don't kill the patient!"
He emphasizes on what you should know and lays out on what's going to be on the exam, so tests shouldn't be too difficult. One midterm and one final. At times he might be a tad condescending, but he's pretty awesome in my book.
He's rude and hates answering questions. Doesn't answer emails. Rushes through materials. Tests are hard and you get only 20 min for 20 questions. Not enjoyable at all.
maybe Hassad knows his "stuff", but it seems that he doesn't want to share his "stuff" with us, even if u can pass his class, but u cannot get a good foundation for phych 250
Great professor, you get what you deserve in this class.... He is super intelligent and makes psych so understanding.... Lazy student gets what they deserve ..... At last hardworking student gets what they deserve and vice versa
Amazing!! Truly, one of the best professors at Hunter. His main emphasis on concepts prepares us to face the real world. Attending his classes and taking good notes is the key to getting an A in his class. The textbook assigned is very very helpful and easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this professor
Never experienced a professor SO full of himself in my life. Puts himself on a pedestal, and leaves the student behind. Unfair assessments (20 q MC test in 30 min=30% of your grade) Take someone else if you can! Repeats himself & uses synonyms for everything to make himself sound smarter. Not a good learning environment!
He isnt that bad he teaches in a particular way, if anything the textbook confused me. Study his notes, his extra credit quizzes & you should be fine. He looks at every grade individually. If you did bad on the midterm but ace the final, the assignments and lab, he takes that into consideration. His tests are concept based & not so much calculation
Professor Hassad is very intellectual. I've learned a lot from him; he is an amazing professor and explains concepts thoroughly. Exams are mainly concept based. There is some degree of work, but you will be rewarded at the end if you put effort. Critical thinking from this course will definitely help me for experimental psych. Recommended A+ prof.
Very smart and funny. Word of advice: think before you participate, especially if you tend to take things personally. He considers how you did on every assignment and will give you a favorable grade if you show improvement. Take detailed notes and attend every class. Try your best on the extra credits!!! It can help your grade tremendously.
Although he has a condescending and kind of cocky side to him, he has a reason to. He seems intimidating and strict at first but Hassad gives students a lot of chances to prove their abilities in the class. His notes are very helpful for understanding the material and leaves the junk out from the textbook. You'll appreciate his doings in the end :)
I had this guy all wrong. Took him over the summer complained that the work was hard and so on. He looks at improvement so dont worry if you dont do so well on the midterm just ace the final, lab and assignments you will be fine His tests are conceptual and his teaching style will prepare you for 250. I failed the midterm and still got a B.
Cocky, strict and might seem mean at times. But he has his reasons for it. He was actually an amazing professor that turned a hard subject into something understandable and pushes you to do your best. Lots of extra credit. He gives extra points on improvement. Didn't do so well on my midterm but did a lot better on my final, Got an A-!
He's extremely knowledgeable about his work, but can be cocky, condescending at times. The 2 exams are based on concepts more than calculations. study notes and quizzes! There were 6 lab assignments which were very straight forward, & a final 10-pg group project. He teaches well and gives extra credit quizzes that are added to ur final grade. :)
Professor Hassad can easily come off as condescending and cocky but he is a great professor. Extremely intelligent and knows how to break concepts down for students. His class is straightforward and if you do what he expects out of you, an A is very attainable. Lots and lost of extra credit to boost your grade, take him!!!!
Labs had a group paper component, not that bad. So, so, so many extra credit points... usually gives it to you on the projector at the end of class and if you show up to class and pay attention, they're really not that hard. Midterm & final - only about 20 questions, multiple choice, but EC points stack up. Wasted $ on txtbk which we did not use.
Condescending and cocky (and sometimes rude)at first. But he is very intelligent, knows his stuff and how to break concepts down for students. Two exams (midterm & final) concept based rather than calculations. 248 is not an easy class so put effort into it. Gives extra credit which can help your final grade. take him and don't drop his class.
He is so terribly condescending and full of himself. He asks questions just to cut students off and shut them down, then carries on with his long, dramatic rant about what he "knows". The worst part is that some of the stuff he says isn't even correct, yet he says it with the utmost pretension. His arrogance is such a turn-off that class is painful
There is a lot of material to learn in 248, and Hassad is an true statistician. He's precise about language, which is good for those who want to learn. He makes challenging material crystal clear. Many EC quizzes. He expects us to have difficulties but also expects effort. He's quite self-assured, but not inappropriate in his demeanor. Great man.
He's different from all of the other stat teachers but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Very concise and easy to understand and provides extra credit that could boost your grade up. All in all you shouldn't get less than a B.
No regrets taking Dr. Hassad. Got scared at first from all the negative reviews, but after taking his PSYCH 248 class, i doubt any professor can measure up to his ability to teach statistics. TAKE HIM AND DONT BE WORRIED
Although he is a tough grader and can come off as a know-it-all, he is extremely intelligent and good at what he does. If you put effort into his class, your grades will reflect it.
Great professor ! I took psych248 in the summer with him, and felt like I actually learned the material and understood it . If you take this course with him , or any of the courses he teaches , make sure you TAKE NOTES - (handwritten notes ) it is key to passing his class .
I actually looked forward to going to his class. Very funny and fascinating professor. Made stat easy.
I don't know about Psych 248, but as a Psych 242 teacher, he was the worst. He was always cocky, and despite this being a 200-level class, he treated us like grad students and gave us works that were hardly even related to Health Psychology. He never helps you either, he just rudely cuts off your questions.
I definitely liked this class. This class is tough but he explains everything in great detail. His tests are timed well for us it was in the summer. If you don't work well under pressure don't take him. I learned a lot and he is very intelligent and at times funny. Seems mean but he's approachable. I liked his teaching style.
Dr. Hassad is an amazing professor to take statistics with! You will walk out of his class inspired and well taught in the subject of statistics. He is the professor you want to take for statistics 370! He has such an amazing personality and truly cares for his students and there grades.
Talks about himself to the point where it's unbearable. We get it. You love yourself and think you're wonderful. But I came here to learn statistics, not to hear about all the things you've accomplished. He is detailed in his lectures, but ask him a question and he might yell at you because it's "not what I told you in class." Unhelpful and scary.
Best professor I have ever had in college. The only professor to make me feel like I'm actually at a university. He isn't going to hold your hand through his course and doesn't tolerate stupid questions. His lectures are long but captivating and explain concepts in detail. The man knows what he is talking about and I have the utmost respect for him
Prof. Hassad teaches w/his own style. It is not always matches w/the book (that's why, I feel, I messed up in this class). To do good in his class take good notes, read the chapter or complete mind tab assignment ahead of class and you will be ok. Good luck!
He can be a bit condescending sometimes, especially if you don't give him the answer he's looking for or are just guessing, so be SURE of your answer before answering a question. He really tries to give his students the best opportunity to get the best grade possible. To actually learn and enjoy statistics take his class.
Listen carefully, he tells you exactly what he will be testing you on.
Absolutely stay away from him!!! Unless you want to pay for a class in which you learn about his research and not the actual material.
one of the best professors I've ever had. I expected to be bored but apparently either stats is very different than math or he's just way better than any other math prof, but it was . I can see how people would find him condescending, but I think it's mostly his habit of uninterrupted eye contact ("therapist gaze"). Lots of extra credit chances
He is the best. He is so clear in home work. Makes the case extremely easy and fun. I fell in love with stats with this dude.
Amazing professor, very reputable in research, should take it !!
Prof. Hassad is a very amazing in how he takes Statistics and really helps you understand how it isnt math. Because of him I went from a C- in statistics to an A!!! Hes a little rough around the edges but thats because he loves what he does and truly wants you to succeed. Dont take his class if you cant handle his mouth.
Professor Rossi Hassad is an amazing professor. He so smart and funny. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He may seem tough but he is super nice and caring. His classes are so funny and he make statistic really easy.
This is one of the best and most dedicated professors i have ever had. He is reputable in his work and his lectures are very articulate. Stats is challenging but he presents the material in a very organized way where it doesn't feel like you're left hanging to figure it out on your own. His anecdotes and expertise are interesting and inspirational.
Prof. Hassad has a very particular technique of teaching especially Psych250. Research is very important to him as well as a very good grammar. He gives specific instructions on how and what to write. As long as you follow his instructions and attend all of his classes, psych250 will seem to be much easier and interesting!
This class is 100% not an easy one and Hassad definitely makes you work for it. Going to class is really important and being able to take good notes on his advice will help you complete the papers and exams. He is really knowledgeable about the subject and expects you to know a lot of information about the background of psych.
He is very a good professor and very knowledgeable. At first I was concern but I ended class feeling confident. I learned alot from him. He is lenient and very understanding. He gave 2 exams: Midterm, final and 4 research papers. Seems alot be it is a writing intensive class. He tells you what to write on the papers and guides you every step.
The course itself is a writing intensive course. 4 papers, a midterm and a final. He is a wonderful professor, but be sure to take notes and participate in class. He gives the exact topics that will be on each exam. Follow his instructions exactly, and you will receive a good grade. I really enjoyed his class.
He seems tough & scary at first, but don't let that deter you! This course itself is super hard, but he was easily accessible & if you put time & effort into his class, you will definitely pass! He is a tough critic, but wants you to learn from your mistakes & will not penalize you. Because of him, I've gained so much knowledge. Amazing professor!
