Nice person but you have to teach yourself the spanish b/c she doesn't.
She is so nice, but spends more time talking about countries and places she's lived or visited than she does teaching.
She's an expert in her field, but you don't get a sense of that in her class. Very inconsistent, gets off topic very easily, excited one moment and nearly crying the next. Not really responsive to students. Unclear what she's looking for in assignments.
I've only had this lady for about a month, but i'll tell you i haven't learned **** in the actual class time. She seems nice, but how much does that really matter?
She is the most random, confusing teacher I have ever encountered. She gets off on these tangents that have to do with things that are really no one's business but her and her department chairs.
the worst language teacher i've ever had. she is so selfish and loves hearing her own voice wine about her own personal problems. i can't stand that class. it is so boring and you have to teach yourself.she needs to be fired
She is the worst language teacher that I have ever had. She complains more about her own problems than she teaches class. She is incredibly selfish and enjoys hearing herself speak. She does not like to listen to you. She has a incredibly bad temper.
DONT TAKE HER! She yells and cusses at her students. She doesnt teach, and spends most of the time yelling about Cuba, the spanish department, or talkign about how much she loves Mel Gibson. Everyone fails her class.

I didnt do anything for this class and got a B+. So, if you are on her good side and put in a little effort, you should easily get an A.
so i dropped out of this class it was so hard i mean if you havent learned the material before in hs dont take this class its horrible.
She is an interesting person. She hates Fidel and has no problem telling you, but she does a decent job of teaching. She gets off topic a lot, but that is partly because the class eggs her on and asks questions. She has a lot of funny moments in class and it is not a bad spanish class, but you ne
I basically had to teach myself.
I do not recommend her if you don't already feel confident in your spanish skills. She doesn't really teach, she just complains a lot and she always talks about how Spain is so much better than America--overall she is annoying
ALL she talks about is drinking tequila, husband Enrique, coffee at Barnes & noble, gibson/passion of the christ, and her mother. BE PREPARED TO TEACH YOURSELF SPANISH. i took APspanish in High school, and she managed to sapp up everything i knew and i forgot it
Avoid this person.
take recio for 201, class is a joke, homework is extra credit, tests are easy, only have to write 2 one page composistions, gets off topic easily if you had spanish in high school this class will be a sinch, i could have never gone to class, be expected to participate in class though, take recio!
As a spanish major, i feel that she is a pretty good teacher. sometimes she's frustrating when she gets off topic, but it's only b/c students don't want to learn and then complain when she spends all of class talking about a topic. she's very intelligent and of course her spanish is good. Try hard and you'll get a B+ or A-.
She is insane! She never teaches you anything. Her class is a huge waste of time. I could actually feel myself getting less fluent in spanish every time I set foot in her classroom. If you need help with anything...BE CAREFUL! One time I needed help with an assignment and she told me if I didn't get it I didn't belong in her class. STAY AWAY!
i think she is interesting and gives good insight about other countries...i have learned a lot about culture. She gets off topic, but it's interesting.
In general, itwasn't that hard, but her test formats suck. Very unclear, and if you ask questions, watch out, she may bite your head off. Was very random with her moods, to say the least. Seemed really cool at first, but yeah... things change.
Take Recio. I knew next to nothing coming into the class and she was willing to help me and get me caught up. Her tests are incredibly easy if you simply study for a few hours. Homework and the workbook are extra-credit/completion grades. I am pulling an A, which means anybody can.
probably the easiest spanish teacher. she may be crazy and tend to get off subject alot but she gives out so much extra credit that the class is impossible to fail
Roxana is probly the funniest prof i've met so far. If you want to learn about Spanish and not just the language take her. She has lots of stories which are funny if you listen. If you put effort into the class you'll learn a decent amount.
She is an amazing teacher. I learned a lot from her and I love her personality. She is really helpful and leanient on her work load. Of course I am a spanish major, but I recommend her for any class, any level. She is a great person and she truly cares about the individual if you just go in and talk to her. I pulled an A and didn't do a lot!
when we go to class, she gives us "extra credits". when we turn in homework we get "extra credits". the class is really easy & she always has some wild story. ask her about: fidel, king kong, or spain.... she'll have at least 10 stories to tell. what a fun class.
I think she's crazy... the class is pretty easy.. and by pretty easy... if she likes you.. you get an 'a'. i like her emhasis on culture, but it got a little dry at times.. she would say the same things over and over. great class though.. tons of fun.
The best spanish teacher. Shes crazy, but bring up Basset Hounds every now and then, and she'll love you. (honestly, it influenced my grade)
this lady is off the wall crazy...all she talks about is her husband, her cat (which is mel gibson in cat form according to her), Spain, drinking tequilla (which everyone should do during the week according to her). You kinda need to teach your self, and when you ask questions she doesnt understand what you are asking.Just study a bit. it will b ok
Very sweet lady. Hates Castro, loves bassett hounds. very funny in class. good for students to be taught by native speaker. do not take class in the early a.m. can get a tad boring...she's not a bad teacher. she's really open to working with the students and tries not to make spanish a burden for them. overall good class
she is a really sweet lady but impossible to reason with.
I haven't learned a single thing from her. Her husband is a much better teacher than her. You shouldn't show up for class because you just teach yourself anyways.
Roxanna, she's ridiculous! All she does is waste class time talking about ridiculous things like celebrities or doctors or her husband and mother. You have to teach yourself everything! She's rude and the class is a huge waste of time. If you already knwo spanish and want an easy class to sit in and goof off for 50 mins 3 times a week go for it!
Really not a good teacher at all. She obviously knows Spanish (she's from Madrid), but she's too scatter-brained to let that knowledge get in the way. My term she had to fly to Spain to be with her mum for 5 weeks, but, even so, I think I got a good taste of what she was like. One bonus: she graded easily, with only something like 5 tests/quize
CRAZY!! but nice/easy
This class is a joke. You will get an A with any previous spanish knowledge. If you enjoy discussing the current political issues in Spain instead of speaking spanish, this class is for you.
All the previous comments are incorrect. Roxana is a great Spanish teacher! I've enjoyed being in her class, and I'm even taking her class next semester. She is entertaining and knows the material well. She is willing to help students if they need extra help. Students making progress in the class is a high priority to her.
Roxana is a great teacher! You can tell that she really cares whether people are understanding the material and she is very helpful inside and outside of the classroom. Plus, she is hilarious!
She makes you want to learn more about Spanish as a culture and not just as a subject. Comments about Spain and other important references help embody heritage instead of just some boring textbook material. A rare opportunity to learn more than just a language, but an opportunity to learn about the people and not just the basics. Very captivating!
Roxana is a great teacher and a great person. She cares for the individual's education and well being. I learned spanish very easily in her class. I also learned about spanish culture. Her class is a fair class as far as grading and tests go.
Roxana is a wonderful teacher! She devotes time to make sure her students make progress as spanish speakers and that they not only have an understanding of the language, but of the culture as well. This is a great entry level class that will create a new interest in the language.
I absolutely LOVE Roxana! She is a great spanish teacher who cares about teaching the language as well as the culture. There is never a dull day in her class. Take her class if you have a chance!!!
Roxana is one the nicest teachers I have ever met, she wants you to do a good job. The tests are not hard because she doesn't try to trick you. Great teacher take her class if you can!
Some of the previous comments of this teacher are completely ridiculous because she is a great teacher take her class!!
Profesora Roxana is the nicest lady you will ever meet. She is dedicated to ensure a quality education for her students. I highly recommend this class. If you study and work hard, a good grade can be earned easily.
Roxana is my life, a wonderful woman who can teach you about things outside of the book. Take this class is you love to hear hilarious stories and learn spanish!!!!!! VIVA ROXANA
Professor Recio sets the standard of what a great instructor should be. She incorporates all aspects of the language, culture and not just textbook material. A true pleasure to learn under, thank you Professor!
Professor Recio really covers all aspects of the language and culture. Her teachings encompass and bring a better understanding to the culture and not just what is in the textbook. A great experience!
Amazing Teacher!! She is so funny and really gets the class going! Her personality is hilarious and she is an overall great teacher... Its an easy A just show up and do the work!! I would really recommend taking her if you love spanish and enjoy having class discussions about culture!! Its a really interesting CLASS!! TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ROXANA!!
She is a good teacher she understands college kids. She has a great personality and really wants the kids to learn the material. I really enjoyed taking this class!
ROXANA IS AMAZING!! She is one of the most interesting professors I've ever had. She really knows a lot about spanish and her addition of culture makes the class so interesting!
Recio is very passionate about teaching and her students. It's a little hard to understand her at first (accent!) but you definitely grow to love her. Not sure if she has some of the best explanations in the world as far as questions about spanish go but she definitely keeps you smiling in class. Pretty easy to get an A.
Ms. Recio is a dedicated teacher who cares about her students and what they learn in class. And she's a great resource if you're interested in knowing more about the Spanish culture.
Prof. Roxana is a very engaging and insightful instructor. She gives you the best of all worlds when it comes to learning. I had the disposition that it would be taxing to focus, but her style livens as well as captivates the class. If you have not had the opportunity, I suggest taking her class, you will not regret it!
Professor Recio challenges you to learn while making the class exciting with actual experience reflections to add flavor and captivating insight to a culture and not just a language. She is one of the best, I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned under her.
Roxanna is an amazing person and teacher. I also took her for SPN 102 and have greatly appreciated her! Take her class, work hard, and you'll do great and enjoy your time learning spanish.
Roxana is a great lady, but her lectures a little hard to follow. She is pretty scatterbrained and will often talk about random things that don't have anything to do with the class. Her tests are very straightforward and she makes sure you know what is going to be on them. Overall I would recommend her as a teacher
She is the sweetest lady. She is willing to meet with you outside of class anytime to help you. She is very understanding and loves her students. She is also very funny. She does not move on if the students do not understand.
Take Roxanna! She is a sweetheart! She loves and cares for her students. She wants us to learn as much as we can. She will do anything to help us, even if it is on her own time. Her tests are straight forward. She does not try to trick you, she just wants you to know your Spanish. She is a great person.
Here is the deal. I have taken spanish all throughout high school, and it wasnt till Roxana that i found a teacher who was not only good at teaching spanish, but actually new what she was talking about. She always wants her students to succeed and genuinely cares for them. She has a great teaching style and enthusiasm. I love her! Take her class!
Everyone should take Roxanna. She is soooo passionate about what she teaches that it makes you want to participate in the class. She is always willing to give you extra help, but her teaching good as is. She has the best stories and you will love her!
according to the syllabus attendance is mandatory, but she is a very sweet, understanding teacher. Her class is always fun to attend even at 8:30 in the morning, she is probably one of the funniest teachers here. No online homework, just exorcises out of the text book that you turn in with every test. Highly recommend this professor.
Roxana is such a sweet lady who is always willing to help her students when they have questions. She can occasionally go off on tangents, but they are all related to Spain's culture. She truly wants her students to succeed. I highly recommend her.
She's great. She not only teaches very well, but she adds things about the culture, which makes it a lot more interesting to learn. She is supper nice and always willing to help, and her energy for the class makes it always worth coming to at 8:30 in the morning. High recommend!
Totally awesome teacher! you want a good laugh everyday she will tell you great jokes. Loves her students and what she does and is very helpful. 5's all around!
Fun class! Learned a lot - good anecdotes, background history. 1 project, 5 tests/quizzes, class participation important! Very helpful - office hours are awesome. Loves to teach, always says how her students are the most important thing to her, and she means it! I've never been a huge fan of Spanish, but Roxanne has definitely made it doable for me
I LOVE ROXANA! She is the sweetest lady ever and tries to make learning Spanish as easy as possible. Quizzes are very straight forward and not too bad at all. If she taught the next level up I would be taking another classrom her. She is so sweet and I would certainly recommend taking her class.
The class is easy. Grades are based off who you are and not necessarily your work. Sometimes expectations are not very clear.
She is such a sweetheart. Though not always very clear, she is a great teacher with a passion for her subject. She involves a lot of cultural background which made me feel like what I was learning was actually important/usable. I recommend her. The class is fairly easy.
I truly enjoy my class with Roxana as my professor. Not only does she teach the language, she brings the feeling and the culture of her beloved España into the class in a fun and educational way. This class is not dull by any means. My grades have been awesome because I?m engaged in the class and want to learn more.
Roxana is a great person and a good teacher as well. She will go out of her way to help you if you need it even if she is sometimes unclear in class. I always knew I could ask for help and have it provided with her. She's a very nice lady and you will enjoy taking her classes.
Roxana is a wonderful person and has a very big heart. She loves hearing about her students lives and really likes relationships with her students. Take advantage of her office hours, she is really knowledgeable, and would love to help you if you need it. I would take her in the future if it was possible.
Professor Roxana is an incredibly passionate and intellectually competent teacher that not only cares greatly for her students, but challenges them constantly throughout her course. She utilizes a perfect combination of both personal experience and textbook use. Definately take a class of hers if you get the opporunity.
Roxanna is a great person! She shows deep concern for her students and loves what she does. She will always be willing to meet you outside of class if you need to. Her passion for Spanish is evident in everything that she does. She explains the tests, so it's not too hard! You will learn about Spain, along with a review of the Spanish language
hard.
Roxanna was a good teacher that really cared for her students. If you go into talk to her, she'll work with you and it will really end up benefitting your grade
Roxana is an awesome professor! She cares about her students and their success. She enthusiastic and keeps class interesting. I hate early morning classes, but I liked her 8 am class. You have a test over every chapter, but she makes sure you're prepared. LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!
Although sometimes she's not entirely clear on what she wants in class, she is the sweetest lady. She is great as a teacher and a person! Very helpful and easy to get along with.
LOVE HER. my favorite teacher hands down. go into her office hours! she loves helping students. ask her about her beloved España!
Fairly easy class if you have some background in Spanish. Do the homework and go to class and you won't have to do much more studying for the tests. Sometimes she is unclear about what she wants, but she is very accessible and encourages emails or office hour visits. Definitely take if you want an easy Spanish class.
Roxana's a gem. She has the greatest sense of humor and really, really wants you to do well in the class. She isn't always incredibly clear about things and sometimes you have to teach yourself, but she's really approachable if you want to ask her about it. I would recommend taking her if you get the opportunity, her sarcasm is worth it.
Roxana is an amazing teacher! By far my best class of the semester and one of my favorite professors. There really is never a dull moment in class and she always has us giggling or laughing. She is always very understanding and will help you whenever you need it. She is a great person and cares for her students! TAKE HER CLASS!
Roxana is a great professor! She is super helpful in office hours and she is a genuine person who wants to know all of her students. She closely follows the book, keeps everything lively in class, and made 8:30am bearable. Take her for a good balance of vocab, grammar, speaking, and culture. Doing the homework all but guarantees good test scores!
She's fabulous, take her. I'm in love with the way she talks and she's so passionate for her students. She's fairly easy, not too challenging.
I took Roxana a few semesters ago and she was great. I went in for help because I was awful at Spanish and ended getting to know her well! Class is lively and she is super helpful in explaning what the book is talking about. Take Roxana for an awesome fun semester!
So if you want the best Spanish teacher take Recio- funny, lively, challenging but reasonable, and her sarcasm is the best! Wish I could have taken her for another semester.
I really enjoyed having Roxana as my SPN 201 profesora. She gives plenty of opportunities to get involved in class, you just have to participate. She is very energetic and gives clear and concise exams! I would totally recommend her!
Roxana is a great professor! There was never a dull moment in class. She is hilarious and very energetic! It is easy to see that she is passionate about what she teaches. She is always willing to help students in any way she can and offers opportunities for extra credit. Her class helped me improve my writing and speaking skills.
I loved Roxana's class! She is so funny that her lectures never get boring. She tends to get off topic from time to time, but if you go to class, do the homework, and study for the tests you will do fine. She teaches you not only about the Spanish language but also the culture, so if you're interested in that it's a plus.
Ms. Recio is a wonderful professor! She's always available via e-mail and will not hesitate to help you. Explanations are clear and concise. She's extremely energetic and has an awesome sense of humor. There was never a dull moment in her class. Great class.
Roxanna is a really funny and crazy spanish teacher! I recommend her because she is very helpful and grades you on your effort. She cares for everyone's success in the class and will go out of her way to make sure you understand everything.
Dr. Recio's class was very entertaining and very enlightening to the culture of Spain. She grades based on your effort. As long as you are trying, Roxana will be there cheering you on. I really enjoyed this class.
Roxana is a great professor and really wants you to do well in her class. She loves her students. Take her for 101 if you can
Roxanna is one of the most wonderful professors I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants them to be successful. She is willing to do whatever it takes in order to make sure her students learn Spanish and the culture surrounding the class. I would recommend her to anyone looking to learn a lot from their Spanish class!
Roxana is awesome! She really care about her students and does a lot to help them in any way she can. Sometimes the book or lecture is confusing but if you talk to her things will get cleared up. Make sure you go to class and don't be afraid to participate. As long as you keep an open mind Roxana is not as scary as anyone else says.
Roxana is a wonderful person, and instructor. She genuinely cares about her students, more so than any other professor I have had at Creighton. All you have to do is show some effort in her class, and show that you care and you will receive a good grade.
Roxana's great! She's fun and always keeps class lively. 101's a pretty simple class - do the exercises if you're truly a beginner and you'll be fine.
I actually really enjoyed going to Roxana's class. It was for the most part stress-free, which was exactly what I needed. Roxana really cares about her students. As long as you show that you care about the class, she is more than willing to help you out. This is one of the classes where your grade reflects your effort, and I appreciated that.
Fun lady, keeps class exciting. RSP is going to boring and mostly pointless for every prof. No work necessary really. Take her for Spanish.
Roxana's a funny lady. The class will be pretty easy. Just do your homework from the book and teach yourself.
ROXANA IS AMAZING! LOVE HER. I really struggled but she really helped me out. She is such a motherly figure. Very fun&funny. I really enjoyed this class. GREAT TEACHER! TAKE! DO HW!
You grade your own tests. If you don't start at the beginning, eventually you will change your answers when you're grading and magically get an A on every test. You'll do poorly on the papers and speech but it doesn't effect your grade because everything besides the exam is extra credit. Even if she claims it's not.
She is a great person and it is very easy to get an A.
Roxana does not give clear directions for anything she assigns in class. She changed the syllabus a lot, and many times we were left guessing when the next test or composition was due. She has trouble remembering things, names in particular. She puts vocabulary on our tests that she did not ask us to learn. This is the worst class I have taken.
You could only skip 4 classes before it affected your grade. You had 6 tests and 2 essays you had to write. The tests were pretty easy and she graded sorta tough on the papers. The lectures were basically going over the homework and her rambling on over something random.
Roxanna is the best professor out there. Better yet she is hilarious! If you go to class and do the homework, you will get an A. I would highly recommend taking her!
She is a sweet, kind, and adorable woman. However, she was so confusing and hard to understand. Her explanations of the material usually made it more unclear than it was before. And boy did we get a lot of homework. Honestly, her husband came in a few times to sub, and he was SO much easier to learn from. Just work thro the book and you'll be fine.
I took this professor for Survey of Peninsular Literature at Creighton. If you actually want to learn about/analyze Spanish Literature, do NOT take her. She spent a large portion of class time lecturing about religion instead of the material, and she spoke A TON about her personal views. Zero class conversation, all jumbled lecture, but EASY A.
Doesn't use blue line, gets offended when you ask her what your grade is in the class. Easy class but you need to show up for every class
