If you attend class and take notes you will do fine. He gets most of his test questions from the book.
I found with this class, if you read the chapters and do the online practice quizzes you will do good. Some test questions are exactly the same as in the practice quizzes in the book and online. Overall, he is a good teacher.
You can't really pass his tests from the power points. As long as you read the chapters in the book, you'll do fine in his class. Only take him if you don't need hands on class time.
Good Prof., will take time to help his students. Tests are hard but like everyone else said if you do the online quizzes and read through the book the class is OK. He gets all of his questions from the books online teacher site. He doesn't require you to attend class but if you do I think it helps your grade because he grades on a serious curve.
goes supposly by his notes (read the book! would be more clear then hearing it from him), his reviews for test are usless bc he goes through the whole chapters start to finish..make up test@of semester are exactly the same ones u took before so memorize the answers..only good thing is the curve he does based on stats..uhh good luck?!
He says his test come right from the slides, but they really don't. If you read the chapters and do the online quizzes you'll do fine in his class.
Do not take him for A&P I or II. All he does is lecture and his tests are extremely hard and tricky. The averages were always in the 60's. He doesn't have the students do any labs which is outrageous when learning anatomy.
Horrible professor! reads right off of slides every class, which are really no help.you'd be better off reading the book.test are extremly hard and tricky and he uses no lab!!how could you teach a&p without a lab?!?DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! TAKE PROF.RYDER!!!
Dr. Hepner is a great teacher. A&P is hard. Period. If you plan on pursuing a career in health you better take the time to read, study and review often. He wants you to know everything, and you should. I highly recommend him if you are serious about learning A&P. If not, you better find an "easy" teacher.
Great professor for a "serious" student. Gives ample info in class without a lab to pass a test with an A. Students who complain about him are not serious about the field they are trying to enter!!!
He is a great guy, but his exams are really TOUGH. He has his Masters Degree in Education AND has been a MD up until he started teaching. Basically he is "smarter than teh average teacher." He teaching soley off of slides and at least 20 students dropped by mid semester but if you need this class then you can pass with HARD WORK!
VERY HARD TEACHER. SAYS ALL YOU NEED TO STUDY ARE HIS SLIDES, NOT TRUE, NOTHING THAT IS ON HIS SLIDES ARE ON EXAMS. ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY, ALL HE COUNTS ARE THE EXAMS AND THE FINAL AS YOUR GRADE. GREAT GUY, BUT HARD PROFESSOR
He is a good guy but His tests are extremely hard. He tells you to read off the slides but none of them will be on the tests. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Terribly hard tests. Does power point, but nothing from the slides are on the tests. Read the book and everything in between. He teaches above a college level!!If you can take this class with someone else,do so!!
Extremely hard tests having nothing to do with lectures. He will work with you though. Dont expect a grade written on any classwork done.
Extremely hard tests. Read off power points and tells you "everything" is important so you do not know where to start with. Do not take him, you better off just read the book :( worst professor ever
Good professor!!! His slides are awesome!!! I transferred to a different state after A&P I and i'm now taking A&P II here and I WISH my professor could explain the info like he does. He makes perfect sense! If you don't understand anything, just ask folks! He doesn't require the use of the book and the info are still CLEARLY explained if you ask!
VERY HARD, gets all his test from a test bank, which some of the students got ahold of and passed with flying colors, the other half of the class failed and he is clueless when it comes to teaching. reads right off power point, says everything is important, but the test have NOTHING to do with the powerpoint class average was 49% what does that say
I only had him for Lab, not lecture. He's an awesome teacher. He doesn't mind explaining anything a second or third time. He really wants you to learn something out of it. If you show up to class and show that you are trying, he will work with you and may curve your grade. I got an A in the class when I really should've got a B.
Just started my doctorate in physical therapy. Everything this professor teaches you is essential. Study hard, the course is difficult no matter where you take it. The problem with A&P is that there is not a lot of other ways to present the material. He tells you at the beginning of class to use as many modalities to learn the information as possible. He says you can pass by just studying the slides but don't expect to succeed in the medical field by doing the bare minimum. Thank you Dr. Hepner
I loved him. He is very helpful. Mostly dry but once in a while will crack the class up with a very clever remark. He doesn't get upset with anyone asking questions over and over. His review sessions are a must even if you miss a class or two. He goes over EVERYTHING that will be on the test. I'm very glad I took him.
He was so boring i hated going to his class. Half the time i didnt even show up becuase I thought it was so piontless. But he is very leinant on his grading. So their should be no reason that you would fail his class. He doesnt everything in his will to help you pass.
Very tests and only reads off the powerpoint slides. Book is not recommended but is very useful for better understanding. Very helpful professor but his tests are very hard. Its a challenging course thou.
Pros: Dr Hepner is very helpful and will answer any questions. Quizzes are multiple choice and not many questions Cons: His quiz questions are hard. Lab Reports never had grades on them when returned to us, so we never knew how we were doing on them.
He is horrible will not help you with anything. Doesn't give any homework to help you study no study guides. Will not allow you to adjust grades because of family emergencies. Questions on tests have nothing to do with what went on in class. Required an essay to be written but won't give you a grade for it I do not recommend him.
Professor Hepner is a good professor. He is willing to help anyone who seeks help. He does give students a paper to write which is not graded. His class one has to study for because it is not easy by any means. He likes to ask students questions to see how much they've learned.
-only shows long power points -NEVER gives any homework, handouts, or lab demonstrations to help you learn.(very dry material so this makes it hard to learn) -makes you write a research paper that he doesn't even grade -ur grade is solely based on tests. -I would not recommend him
Dr Hepner is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. He wants you to learn. He is helpful when you ask question? No homework, grades on curve which is helpful.
He is extremley knowledgeable about what he teaches, his class is hard and to pass you must study and pay attention.everything on the exams is on the PP, and he does a review day before each exam, which is very helpfull.you do not need the ap book for his class. Take him only if you are a serious student, and want to learn ap.
This professor is perfect if you are serious about getting into a medical profession. His tests are fair and he doesn't spoon feed the material to you. You have to know it yourself. The slides he goes over, make for a good review. Overall, I recommend him for serious students only.
I think Dr. Hepner is a great teacher but that doesn't mean you don't have to study. This is a very difficult science course and is that way because the medical field is tough and only the strong survive.
Professor Hepner is a good guy & clearly loves Biology, however, he is a new professor & he really has not found "his" way of teaching. He doesn't follow the order of chapters that the school asks him to so I never knew what we were doing in lab because Hepner's lectures weren't on the same track. I would not recommend if not already a scientist.
He's is an awesome teacher...I didn't get the best grade but that was because i didn't have the best study habit..but overall he explains himself very well...and knows the subject and keeps the class interesting :)
He's is an awesome teacher!. He is very knowledgeable, patient and respectful. I really enjoy his class.
Good teacher. Tries very hard to explain the material, assigns a research paper that is not graded but you will get an "I" in the class if you don't turn one in. His tests are difficult. He warns that "This will be one of the hardest courses you will take". This course is rigorous but not impossible. I'm an A student and I'm pulling a B right now.
No homework all grades are tests and a research paper as someone already mentioned. He's a GPA killer. Don't ever miss class the material is very difficult and he goes really fast. Every 4th class we took a test, nothing is dropped. However he does curve his exams, and provides a review day before exams. you never now what your actual grade is
The course is hard ; every week different chapter . Good content to the lectures, unfortunately dreary tone and very dense, legible slides ( A lot of them, like 80). Sleep well before lectures, as attention will be needed for the exam . Not extra credit. In the final test you do not expect more than 70100. Be careful.
At first, it was extremely boring to hear him lecture on and on, but once half the class dropped and left us 15 in the class he got really into it. All in all, hardest teacher I've ever had, but I work 40 hrs a wk overnight and have other classes so study time is really hard for me to get. He's a good teacher. I recommend taking this class alone.
Very tough course, he let's you know that from the beginning. He loves what he teaches & shows it. If you're a serious student and have good study habits you will pass. You need to learn EVERYTHING, because he is not specific to what is on his test, got me ready for the rigorous courses about to come my way. I recommend if serious student.
He really prepares you for medical classes for nursing, etc. The only real annoyance is that I still don't know what my actual grade score is other than a C for passing. I love that he curves his test (if not, most would fail), but I don't think they needed to be as difficult or specific to one small section of the great amt learned in ea. chapter.
Very nice professor. Wants you to learn but you need to be willing to study in order to pass. Will help you if you need help. Let's you make up exams if you miss one. Does curve test scores as well which helps in this class. Interesting class but tough material. make sure to study but I recommend this professor.
Dr. Hepner is very well-organized and truly knows what he's teaching and knows how to teach the concepts in a way that students would understand. I took his class in Summer 2014 (with Micro). The course is very challenging but if you have a great teacher like him, an A is attainable and you will learn a lot!
Basically reads the power points word for word. Could get a little boring!
Professor Hepner was great. He tells you from the start it'll be one of the hardest classes you'll take and he was right. However, if you have good study habits and are a serious student he's the prof. for you. The tests are hard but he curves them which helps. Also, his personality and sense of humor show more once he's comfortable with the class.
Best professor I had, the people rating him did not spend the time to study. Tests are only on lecture material and power points, don't need to buy a book! I made an A on all of my exams without his grading curve so I know it's possible to make an A. Record the lecture, listen to it, take notes on your printed out Power points and enjoy your A.
Dr. H was extremely clear, both with expectations of students, and subject material. He has an excellent grasp of the subject. His test are very hard, and it forces you to really know the material. He grades on a curve which helps in the end but you won't know your grade til then. Study A LOT and you'll be fine. Not the most dynamic speaker.
I took this class to learn about the human body and I didn't like it. His tests are hard and you HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING. It is a very time consuming class, it takes hours to study for tests. There is usually a test every three classes. I have a friend who took Professor Black and her class look easier than mine.
Very hard class, and I do not recommend. He lectures for the entire 2 hours only giving one 10 minute break. Lectures straight off of the powerpoint and doesn't give any clarity on anything else. The tests are 40 questions and it is hard. Good luck. He has his own grading method so you really never know your final grade until the semester is over.
Class was designed to prepare us for "certification" tests. He presents the material, hinted at test questions, and the rest was up to us. You teach yourself, but will struggle if you skip. Has practice exams, If you're not prepared for a test- lets you retake it anytime, no questions. Curved grades, and let us know what was an "A" after each test.
Run! I do not recommend taking prof. Hepner. He is a hard prof to learn from and goes over the information very fast. He has his own grading method so you don't know what your grade is until the end of the semester. In his class you have to teach yourself as well as write a paper that is not graded. Oh, and test... you have to know everything.
A&P is hard, period! Hepner cares about his students, always available to help students understand this difficult subject. Those rating him low didn't apply themselves and work hard. His grading scale is different (bell curve), but it is 100% in your favor. Show up to class, pay attention, and STUDY!! Great Professor!
If you are looking for an easy A, then A&P isn't for you, period! Dr. Hepner really cares about his students and if you show you are working your hardest and study he takes that into account! Loved his grading scale as it is for us, the students! He understands this is a hard subject. Those rating him low did not study or apply themselves 100%!
Grade is based on test scores completely. Study his online power points daily to score high. Many people dropped this class when I attended. This is because his test have only 40 questions but are hard. No homework or classwork assignments at all. One research paper is given. Overall you can get a good grade, but you must earn it.
If you aren't ready to learn and work hard then don't take him. He wants you to know it all and he covers a whole chapter in one class. His tests and lectures come straight from the powerpoints. Take time every single day to study atleast some. Great professor, wish he taught A&P2. Definitely have to be dedicated to take his class.
I do not recommend professor Hepner. His way of "teaching" is reading off of PowerPoints throughout the whole course. Once he finishes the chapter PowerPoints, he reviews by just re-reading the but faster. Prepare to learn independently. He expects you to know everything for the tests which are the only grades. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PROFESSOR HEPNER!!
AP is hard. Make sure you have time to read. Every exam require a lot...I mean a looot of reading( if u want good grade). He is very understanding and caring.
7 exams, nothing else. Read through the powerpoints, and remember to be very specific! You have to research in depth every subject, don't leave anything out and hopefully you'll pass. He likes kids who are outspoken (ask questions!). If you think you know AP this class will prove you wrong! Have fun :)
RUN! 9 exams and a research paper, thats it. Weird grading system.. LITERALLY don't know your grade until the last day of class. So stressful. Must attend class to pass. Covers a whole chapter in one day. Must know everything on his slides for exams. No extra credit opportunities.
You need to be prepared to study every day, if not you will NOT pass. Most, if not all of his exams, the averages are around 40-50%'s. His grading curve is what saves you, the "C" score is normally a 50% on the test. Book is not needed, make sure to learn everything that is on the powerpoints. 9 Exams in total, and 1 non-graded essay.
RUN!!! 8 exams total, no other graded work. Plus a research paper that won't even count toward your grade. He doesn't post Exam study guides so basically need to know everything off his powerpoints. He gave us a pop quiz on our second day of class. this professor is ridiculous! worse on in my entire college career
It's a hard class. You will be studying A LOT. Don't take this professor if you have other options. He is crazy difficult. Nice guy. Funny. But SUPER HARD!
I took the 8am class and I dont recommend taking an early class. The 11:30 is much more idealistic. Great professor not a hard class just time consuming. Make sure to attend class. It is not mandatory but if you dont then you WILL BE LOST trust me. I did it 2 times and have to take the class again because of not showing up and getting lost.
Very hard class. The tests start easy and get progressively harder. The material is hard. Professor is mediocre and somewhat condescending, relying on Powerpoints to get his point across.
Also requires a 4 pg research paper.
I looked at previous reviews of this professor and thought maybe he cant be that bad. I found out he is actually terrible. He uses a curve grading scale so throughout the whole entire semester you will not know what your grade is until the end. He doesnt really teach he just reads every word on his PowerPoint. Grade based only on 8 test.
It was supposed to be lecture and Lab but there was no lab. The only thing your grade is based off of is 8 tests. You will also have to complete a 4 page essay that doesn't count towards your grade but if you don't complete it you fail the course. Also doesn't believe in extra credit, every nice guy but try to find another professor.
One of the best proffesors Ive ever had, put in the hard work and youll get a good grade. A&P is a hard subject and an important class to master if youre getting into healthcare. This profesor will prepare you for a solid foundation in A&P. Attend lectures and re-read power points a few times and youll be ok for the tests.
Anatomy 1 is not an easy subject, but Dr. Reuter was a good professor overall. His lectures are clear, as well as his exams, and you can go to his office hours for questions and concerns. Study his powerpoints thoroughly and you will succeed. You have to want it more than anything else. It's not something you do on a whim.
You will only have eight exams and that is your whole grade. Attendance does not count, but a lot of what is on the exams is from what he says. He doesn't use the textbook, but the powerpoints are crucial.
Professor Hepner was intelligent but as far as a professor for anatomy and physiology I dont know if the job fits. He graded us all on a curve. You did not know what your grade was the entire semester. He failed me with a D I went above and beyond in his class. You miss any class? Forget about passing. There is a test every 3rd class. Ridiculous.
He is alright. Not the best but not the worst either. He reads fromt he powerpoints and 99% of the test material comes from the powerpoint. I think it was an easy class. I got a B because I did not study and I didn't pay attention much in class. If you study and pay attention, it would be an easy A.
Hepner teaches a hard class but hes an amazing teacher! He answers all questions very clearly. I wish I understood the grading rubric more so I could have studied more and done better.
Professor Hepner is one of the worst professors at FSW. He does not tell you your grade until the end of the semester. You could be failing and he will not tell you anything. All he grades are exams, he doesn't give feedback at all, does not let you take make up exams and he makes you write a research paper that is not for a grade.
Professor Hepner is an outstanding teacher. He really wants you to understand the material and answers questions very thoroughly. There is no homework, but studying is a must in this class. You're only graded on 8 exams the entire semester. He reviews the material the class before the test and gives you a chance to practice with the models.
8 tests is your grade. paper requirement for FSW submitted through email. His test questions prepare you for nursing program. you will not find matching vocab and what -itis means on his tests. u have 2study 2UNDERSTAND, because tests are deeper like if this is lacking in RNA what would b likely, etc CURVES GRADE SO MUCH DO NOT FREAK ALL PASS WITH B
HONESTLY THE BEST. his grading sucks because you think you have an F til after you take final and end up with a B or A. idk why no one puts that on here you will be wondering though the semster. just get the 'passing' grade he gives for his tests normally you need to get 50% on his tests to pass with solid C. wish he taught more, he is a past MD...
Do not take this class, you will suffer immensely. He is not very good at explaining things, and his tests are very differently worded than the book or his lectures. While you will learn things and pass. It is not a smooth ride.
Some students mentioned that Prof. Hepner does not give you any grades but thats not completely true. He does give you a grade for each of the 8 test you take, the only thing he doesn't give you is an overall grade, but lets be realistic, as a college student you should be able to calculate your overall grade yourself. In fact, he is a fair grader
Professor Hepner is a very nice guy but I would recommend finding another teacher to take this class. Grading is based off of 8 tests and an essay that is not graded however is mandatory. Average grade on his tests is a 50% however he curves it so you think you might fail but end up passing. I never studied but its wise if you do.
Be prepared to really learn all the material. Professor lectures of his PowerPoints. If you take good notes on his lectures and review his power points you will do well on his test. No cumulative final!! He usually test every two chapters.
I was stressed all semester because I had an F and was scared I wouldnt pass. But he usually curves the grade at the end and most pass. Very clear and easy to understand, my grade would have been better if i didnt miss a couple classes. Just put in the effort to study or atleast try to understand and it will pay off! Dont stress, mostly all .pass!
He is actually a really great lecture based Professor who teaches an extremely difficult class. He wants you to learn and does his best to help every student. Provides review exams and even has an extra study class before the final that I recommend attending. All in all if you don't want to work hard don't take the class.
He's so understanding; if you miss a test, he will let you make it up. He goes through a lot in class, so sometimes you might not pay attention or comprehend everything he teaches. But if you re-listen his lecture on your own time, I promise you that you will understand everything he said. Make sure you study at least 3 times or more every week.
This class is really difficult but with a professor like him you have the opportunity to truly learn. If you miss a test he will let you take it. He is caring and understanding. Incredible with the lectures.
Great teacher. he knows very well the material. your only homework is to study for the exams. His videos are wonderful very easy to understand.
