Make sure that you agree with all his points of view.
This instructor knows his stuff. Participation in class is crucial. He****some very interesting topics. You can't help be learn something in his class. No one said 'COLLEGE' was easy.
On the first day of the class this instructor tells you is expected of you in this class. If you follow the directions, pay attention, and PARTICIPATE you should do well. He is very good and welcomes questions (related to the topic being discussed).
A must take instructor if you plan on surviving in the real world. Discussions on subjects that has/is/will effect 'we the people'(no matter your background). Helpful/knowledgeble instructor who wants you to be informed. Won't be surprised to see him holding political office one day. I'd vote for hi
He is passionate about the subject and loves teaching. But he does waste alot of time drilling students on the required readings. Also for his reseach paper he does not grade for content but rather for grammer.
I have no idea what he says..You will never learn about American Govr. with him.If you like to make your life more stressfull take his class.
Mr. Slater is a great teacher but can get off topic easily (by discussing certain things at length). you really have to focus and take a LOT of notes in his class. he engages you, which is good, but if you're not paying attention you will fall behind and your tests will be that much harder.

he is not a good teacher he goes on and on about different things and goes off topic alot!!!! his tests are very hard even with the study guide which does not help much. The research paper he only grades on the grammar not the actual assignment. I would not recommened him
Slater is great! If you are a lazy student who does not like to read, think, write and study, do not take Slater. take one of the easy teachers. His class is challenging. If you study and read before class you will succed.
terrible instructor, hard to understand, very very difficult class
This man is too serious. He seems like he has no personality but does have a lot of information in law. He was nice but made it very difficult if you were not already on his page.
This teacher Fu*kin sucks I repeat DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He is the biggest jerk and would do adn say the rudest things to students! If he doesnt like you from day one your fu*cked royaly! He grades extremely hard and is overly obsessed with his subject. He is also a one minded person...he sees things his way and no other!
Hard professor but fair. Very academic, like a university teacher. He does not take crap. In the class I was in nearly 80% of the students had to rewrite the research paper. I'm telling you, PAY ATTENTION to what he say or you will live to regret it!!!
Not the easiest teacher i have had and from what i have heard not the easiest government teacher. this guy lives government and is damn serious. This is not a class you can blow off and expect to pass. You will work hard in his class and learn alot. Get ready for the chalenge if you take him.
Hard class. He gets bent out of shape when students can't answer his questions. And his research paper is too hard. He grades hard.
Wow! You will learn a lot. This is a hard class. If you take him, get ready for a college experience. He is a little rough at times but not too bad. thos who complain about him are not ready for college level.
Warning...AVOID!
this guy is not worth taking trust me. I couldnt pay attention to him, doesnt grade good he shouldnt even be teaching. Garbage professor. Just dont take this guy.
yOURS GUY IF U DONT WAN TO SLLEP IN CLASS... BETTER DONT TAKE HIM... CUZ THIS TEAHCER IS BORING AND ALSO NOT A GOOD TEAHCER THE WAY THAT HE TEACH IS ??????... HE JUST LIKE A ROBOT WHO TALKS TALKS AND TALK SEEMS LIKE PROGRAMED ALREADY FOR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY... GOT NO CREATIVITY AND IS A VERY MEAN TEACHER...
There are too many sorry assed students attending SPC as evident by the comments below. Yes he is hard but if you study you will understand. Dont expetc him to give it to you. This is college!
American Gov class was NOT simple. be aware you are expected to retain a LOT of knowledge in that class. make sure you study hard, take TONS of notes, and keep up. he's a good teacher but expects a lot from his students
His class is quite hard and he doesn't offer too much help. Also, he doesn't answer questions very good.
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life!!! should be fired! makes the class so boring and made me hate politics even more. WTF Fire that guy! ill be a better teacher hahaha lol....
Great teacheer. Has a love for what he is doing. My advice is to take this class serious or you will fail. Does not take crap
Great teacher. need more like him
Seems to be a conservative supporter of Bush; he does not like democrats and is very critical in his speech toward liberals.
Hes tough at times but if you go to class and listen to what he has to say then its an easy "A". He is definitly the best teacher I have had here.

Good teacher. Just prepare to work and think in the class. Not bad if you study.
I couldn't understand him at all.. He doesnt explain any materials..His voice is very low in class and you can not understand him.. The tests are very different from what he teaches, he does not prepare you for the test. Dont take his class..
Take his class.
Professor Slater is one of the best teachers at SPC...if you aren't an idiot!! He gives study guides for the exams and he grades the writing assignments (2) fairly. He is always willing to help students and he has a kind, pleasant demeanor. I highly recommend his classes to anyone who doesn't expect their grades to be handed to them!
He doesn't crap from anyone, but his class isn't too difficult if you study and do the work. He does like to put trick questions into his tests though. If you learn to look for them his tests aren't that hard
I am mostly a "B" and so far I made like all "A"s on all our papers this past year (maybe one "B") since I been at SPC and why is slaters class the only that gives us a failing grade out of the seven or so other classes I have taken? Mind you those classes are just not the easy ones either.
His political views and standpoints lean heavily towards the conservative side. The lecture is the extremely boring. The tests are hard as hell with much of the test material not being explained well or even covered. I made the mistake of writing my paper with a more liberal point of view and the grade reflected it.Be forewarned.
Very tough class but worth it! Never thought I'd be interested in the Amer. Govt but this class changed me! Be prepared to work hard and PARTCIPATE in everything! You have to do alot of research yourself for the course material but discussions make you think about stuff you may not have thought mattered!
Hard class. Take one of the easy teachers.
Never take this professor! His is an idiot! Can someone get him off campus! Please.... let him retire early!! someone please knock him off his high horse. I would never take him even if he were the last professor in the world. I was in his class for the first 2 weeks of school and had to drop him. I couldn't take it. Beware he is the professor from
I thought his class was pretty difficult. His tests are hard and he does not curve at all.
Definitely recommend that you do not take this guy, if you can avoid it. Treats students very disrespectfully, like grade school. Over half of the students dropped. Lots of trick questions on tests. Way too many arbitrary rules that are brutally enforced.
One of the worse teacher I ever had. If you want to get a good grade in gov. and a good teacher take Preston she is the best. Slater sucks. Doesnt explain anything , you get lost in class and I am a straight A student and I had to drop his class just beacuse his teaching was bad. Dont take him
Slater is an incredibly intelligent professor. If you are fairly bright, you should have no problem in his class; if reading is your thing you could get by merely by reading the book, or you can just listen to him lecture and do well also. Gives you everything you need to know for upcoming tests, which makes the class easy. Gets the class involved.
Not good teacher, need to find a new career.
This guy needs to work in factory.
very unfair. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS... a large % do not stay in his class. Don't waste your time, money or brains on this class.
Great Instuctor! Very helpful if asked. Makes the boring interesting. Interactive with class. But if you want a easy A look elsewhere. If you want to leave class with a good understanding of the subject he is great!
Great class and great teacher. Slaater is a nice guy. He challenges you to think. Be prepared to support what you say. He is one of the best at spc. Class is tough but very fair to students. I highly recommend!
Listen and pay attention and you will do well. Those who complain about him are not ready for college.
Mr. slater is a hard teacher. There is a lot of reading and he only explained some of what is on the test. He is helpful if you go to him for help. Study alot and you will do ok.
This is challeging class where you will do alot of think about stuff. He is a interesting teacher. The class is hard so pay attention and take notes. Not too bad though
Some dummy below say his teaching is bad and they had to drop even though they are a A student. An A student should have no probelm. I took him in the summer and had no problem. He will push you to think. Do the reading and you will understand what he is talking about
I've found that he likes to shame his students into learning instead of inspiring them to learn - if you are not the type who quickly forms opinions or has interest in sharing those opinions then I would not recommend him, as he likes to call on students randomly. This often gets bad results, somewhat like the socratic method gone haywire.
Without question, the best at SPC.
Slater was cool. I got an A, but it wasn't easy. He is really hard by SPC standards, so if you're looking for easy street, look somewhere else. I learned alot and retained most of it. In my opinion that means he is did his job well. He is passionate about the material too. It's refreshing to see a 10+ year veteran professor who still cares.
Slater is a cool person; As a prof, I think he's integrating far too much law & erroneous info that doesn't necessarily pertain to the book. I'm a pretty decent student & I find that even studying has not improved my test grades. If you have poor study skills you're best off staying clear of this prof. You'll be retaking it like I likely will
I did not like this teacher. I don't form opinions out of no where, which he wants to see in his studetns. I have to take this class again and am avoiding going to him again. Don't like the classes that are almost solely based on test results either, which is what his class was. (not sure if every american govt is like that though)
This Class Sucks---grading is way too hard...do not take this class...on the research project e-mailed me back and told me my research was wrong but did not tell the correct answer...took this blended and it seemed like none of the answer on the tests or exams were even in the book, the book is confusing and he makes things way to difficult..avoid
slator is a horrible teacher. His lecture is brief and is never really on the material that the test covers. I studied for his test and still failed them. You have to come to class on time and leave only when he dismisses the class. He waste class time to show stupid movies even when you arent tested on it. Then skips like 3/4 of the test material
His Blended class is great! Very helpful toward students. A lot of work but worth it. Leaves you wanting more. Two thumbs up!!
He made the class interesting. He is a great guy and passionate about what he is doing. His enthusism makse you want to do more. It's too bad some of the students in my class didnt care to learn. Keep up the good word.
Damn good.
His class is very hard. However, if you want to LEARN about the American political system, he is a very great teacher.
he was very unhelpful and mean. never failed a class until him. i do NOT recommend him.
I highly recommend him if you want an education in government. He gives hard test but if you pay attentin and read the assignments you can do well. His lectures are intersting and he always ask the class what they think. I was told not to take him. I did and enjoyed every minute.
He is not mean he just mean what he say. I found nim to be the most challenging teached i had.
His test are BRUTAL and he is too serious for this level. Test are to long like 70 questions on the regular test. He does not have patiance.
Hard, but not if you are prepared - willing to work with you, but you must put forth some effort.....
At first he seemed like a good professor but as the weeks went on i thought i was doing well got c's on my tests and he didnt explain the online assignments ...i ended up getting an f...DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
Challenging
challenging
Very informative and explains everything. Take him and you will learn alot. One of the best here!!
Extremely challanging teacher. If you like to be challenged you will enjoy this class. I'm a A student and struggling just to keep a C. He explains what he expects of you the first day of class. Good teacher- just hard. Would recomend taking another if you expect a good grade in this class
Excellent teacher. There is no way you won't learn something. The class can be hard though. Test question tend to deal with critical thinking rather than simple multiple choice. He is also extremely fair to all kinds of political views.
He is nice, but his class is hard. Only take if you are into politics because he only goes over half of what is covered on tests and you have to figure out what the other half is in order to pass. It's almost like you have to remember everything you read in the book in order to pass.
Slator is very good but his class is hard. Writing is no to bad but the test are. He is energetic and entertaining. He knows government.
He encourages critical thinking. If you want to know about government, he is the best instructor.
He is an horrible teacher. I have made straight 'A's my entire life, in much harder classes than American Government, and he was going to give me a D, so i droped the class. DON'T TAKE HIM
He was the worst teacher I ever had. This is an undergraduate program he thought he was teaching a PHD class.
Slater is cool. I have taken classes at SPC and UF and he is by far the best professor I have had. I earned an A in his class. He knows government and wants students to learn. He will challenge you to think. If you want an easy A this is not the professor for you. You will learn alot and leave the class with a solid foundation.
If you know what is expected at college you have no problem in the class. He has high standerds but is very helpful in answering questions. I had no problem in his class. Study and ask him questions and you will do ok. I highly recomend him for a great college experience.
If you know what is expected at college you have no problem in the class. He has high standerds but is very helpful in answering questions. I had no problem in his class. Study and ask him questions and you will do ok. I highly recomend him for a great college experience and understanding of government.
a difficult class.
I like him and the subject but it is alot material. There was alot to read. He use ANGEL so get use to checking it.
He is hell. High standards and demands alot. You will learn alot but will have to work to earn you grade. I am a A student and struggled to get a B. Be prepared for the challenge.
Not bad
Do not take
This teacher is a like a university. test are hard and alot of work. If you dont have a basis of government you will not survive.
He is not the we are all in this together type. You have to do it yourself. He gives review sheets but does not cover all the information and use angle alot. He is fair though.
Extremely hard!!!! You are unable to get an A on his test.
This is the hardest teacher i have ever had out of the 3 years in school. Way too much information in too little time.
I do agree, if you are looking for an easy A this is not the class for you. To be honest though, if you are looking for an easy A, college is not the place for you. People that are lazy are very judgemental of Prof Slater. I think he was tough, but I am learning alot and no matter what my grade this semester he is a great prof. Brilliant!
Slater is tough and fair. One of the good ones at SPC!
This is a hard class. Harder than it should be
If you just avoid getting Slater for Government you will have no problem getting a descent grade. Government is not a difficult class everyone knows that, but because of all the excess information and along with the work required it is not worth it to sign up for it and struggle for a acceptable grade. Do your GPA a favor get Preston instead!
It is one of the upper end classes where there is lots of reading and writing. I was told not to take him. He is not bad just you will just have to read and follow his instructions.
I think the comments about slater are from people who are total idiots. He is not a bad teacher. He expects studnets to work for their grade. yes the class is chalenging but he gives review guides. I got an A.
I learned more from Mr. Slater then any other teached i had. He is knowledgeable and knows how to communicate the information. His test are a little hard but the are not overbearing.
Mr. Slater is a no nonsense kind of guy. He is very helpful if you go to his office when you have a problem in the course. Read all of his review questions and study and you should do ok. Check ANGEL often
Can be very strict and harsh at times and then very friendly at other times. Very thick southern accent makes him very hard to understand. READ THE BOOK! What he goes over in class isn't necessarily what is going to be on the test. Very hard teacher. Not an easy A by any means.
Strict. Has a set of rules that are strictly enforced - including due dates, tardiness and absences. Pretty much covers test information in class but did find several questions on test that were not in study guide or ever told we needed to know. Knows his stuff for sure but does not make it too interesting. Very 'clinical' type atmosphere.
He enjoy's stumping students on tests with correct answers with 1 word wrong to confuse. He gets upset in class a lot and seems almost always mad about something
Not a bad class if you study and do what he assigns. Many students in this class dont study then get upset when they dontpass. Slater provides reviews and covers material. I do see that he has no patience for lazy students so if you slacker do not take him. I recommend him. He is a good COLLEGE teacher. He seems a bid conservative.
Mr. Slater is a smart, thorough and engaging teacher. He often ask questions in class to get us to think. He is a great teacher who expects his students to read. I recommend him for a good college experience.
Easy class if you do the work. I did not find Mr. Slator to be hard. He does expect students to be prepared for class. He is a top professor at this school.
If you want an easy A OR B this class is not your 1st choice, BUT if you want to learn and be in a class with a teacher who is brilliant in his subject and upfront about what he expects this is the place for you! College flyby's beware! This is not an easy class but I thoroughly enjoyed it and got an A-:) Good Luck!
Passionate professor you will get a good education in American Gov., no homework, just reading. Take good notes and review chapter questions to get good grades on tests. Grade based on 4 tests and one research paper. 20% each. Overall great class, more than fair professor. Willing to help you succeed.
He is a good professor that make you think. Test are challenging and a long indepth research paper. overall good quality class.
High standards for class, probably the hardest at clearwater. Test are hard but fair. Study the review questions and you should do ok.
Extremely tough and ridiculous tests. Bit of a monotone voice and very reliant on the book. Don't take unless you plan on studying constantly.
I found the class to be interesting and him to be an interesting person. Mr Slater talks alot about government and ask alot of questions to think about. The class is very detailed oriented. He is a challenging teacher that wants students to understand the american government. He use Angel alot so be ready for that.
Please do not take him even if it fits in your schedual better it is not worth it. He is way harder than the other teachers at SPC.
I think he's an awesome teacher. He is very passoinate about what he teaches and I think it makes a world of a difference. He challenges you to do some critical thinking, but if you read the book, and you take notes, you'll have no problem.
Proffesor Slater is an extremely cut and to the point man, He tells you what he expects, and if you don't adhere, your grade will suffer greatly. Half of his tests questions aren't even in the book! I recommend paying very good attention, as he calls out those who are not. Be afraid, be very afraid. DON'T TAKE SLATER
His approach is lecture and discussion and he ask questions in class, show government videos and use Angel to post test information. The test are challenging but if you do the review questions you should do okay. This is not an easy A class but you can earn an A as I did. This is the best class I had at spc and highly recommend slater for governmen
The first day in class mr. Slater told exactly what was expected in the class and at college. At first he seemed strict and intimidating but as he got in to government i loved it. He is passionate and knowledgeable and willing to help. do not take the class lightly he is serious.
Mr Slater is very good at communicating government information. Demanding standards higher than most of the teachers. Take him if you want to learn about american government but be willing to work for your grade.
Good luck. You will need it with this guy.
my advice is to not take unless you like hard test and reading. his lectures is interesting.
Not to difficult. he just goes on and on about politics and the election.
This teacher is very enthusiastic and seems to love his job, however his tests are almost impossible to pass. I'm a biology major and a straight A student and I can not pass this class. He words test answers confusingly and he doesn't cover the material on the test enough. Basically, don't take unless you wish to memorize the constitution.
tough class. He is a nice person but you will really work to get a good grade. He definitly is not an easy teacher.
TERRIBLE TEACHER. Slater does not clearly go over what information you must know in the "notes" or on the tests themselves. Along with the fact that he is to stuck up and anal to see that he does make mistakes and that he is terrible. I suggest taking Preston instead if you actually plan on passing.
Informative class. Mr Slater will push you beyond your limit.
His tests are tough, just had a 84 question test that wasn't the final. Courseload isn't bad though, basically just reading. Group discussion is very interesting.
Truthfully he is very meticulous, a bit detail obsessed, and not an easy person to write a paper for. This is not a slide through class - it requires effort. But the class discussions are some of the best I have ever had. He is more knowledgeable about his field than any other prof I've had. If you love politics, take his class.
Truly glad I took this class. Had no interest at all in Government before - however Professor Slater has such a passion for the topic that one can't help but want to share in that. His essays were intimidating and his tests were hard - but you earn the grade you get. Awesome teacher.
Slater is a harsh grader on the research paper. Do the reading because he loves to call on students. He knows his subject about government.
If you like to be challenged this is the teacher for you! Mr slater gives a lot of reading assingments and he has a long research paper. You will have to do the work to do good in the class. I recommend him if you want a good college class.
If you know something about government you will have no problem. He thinks everybody should know government before they take his class. If you take him be ready read and write papers. This class is a broad sweep of government with a lot of details.
I would never recommend this teacher. During class he will call out students randomly and if you're not sure of an answer he will belittle in front of peers. He has high expectations of material not even covered when you walk into class. Expect verbal, PowerPoint, and book notes that don't correlate with each other. Expect tough graded papers.
Awesome teacher! He makes a boring subject interesting.
Slater knows the subject but he is too hard for this school. He gives long test that require a lot of studying for.
tests are based on his knowledge, making it difficult for the average student to achieve good grades in his class. Expect to write an 1800 word research paper. Quizzes on class will be given whether or not the information has been covered in class. Overall, bad professor, don?t waste your money or time. Too many students are failing his class.
Yes mr. Slater is challenging but if you do what he say to study for test you should do ok. although, he does have tough requirement for the research paper. I got more then I expected out of his class.
Professor Slater have VERY HIGH education standards. Warning: keep up with the assingments and be ready when he call on you in class. He likes trying to get students to talk. test are very detailed and hard and he does not give grades.
He is one of the best and smartest teachers I have had. i heard a lot of comments about how tough Slater is but i did not find it to be hard. The book has long chapters and he use the computer in class. There is a lot of reading, a research paper and 4 long test.
Expect to be challenged and to have detailed test. He loves talking about the constitution and knows the subject. He must have been a lawyer in a previous life. Read everything he gives out because he ask about it on the test.
This class is very hard to pass for people that don't study or try. I was failing the class but I managed to pull off a high C. He is very helpful if you just go talk to him.He will never turn a student away.He is an amazing teacher.Take him if you really want to learn about american government.I was very impressed with him.
I've never worked harder for a B! He's a solid professor, but he doesn't take any crap or have a sense of humor. He knows his stuff and he wants you too as well.
I do have to admit he does know his subject, but the technique and method he used to tech them were extremely harsh and at time humiliating for student....i dont really recommend that anyone take this class unless your really into ame govt or your going to give it 150% of your time....seriously not worth it.
The first day of class he seemed to be very strict but he turned out to be a pleasant teacher. He has high expectations and no sympathy for lazy students. Everything for his class is in Angel so do the review questions review the notes he post and read the book. This is one class where you earn your grade.
My Slater is very enthusiastic about governemnt. This class require alot of work to get a decent grade. Test are seriously hard.
He is a good teacher and one of my top 3 at spc. Sometimes he would get very detailed in his lecture. He gives challenging research papers and discussion topics in angel that force you to think about politics. Those who complain about him do not know what college is about. You can get an A in his class if your work hard as i did.
Horrible! He would ramble on and on about things that had nothing to do w/ the subject matter of the exams or chapters we were studying. Very monotone and boring. Thank god I took this class during an election year or i would've had no interest what so ever. I also had to write 2 1000 word research papers and the subjects of the paper were horrible
I took slaters govt class online in the summer. Everything was fast. We had short chapter quizes and two long test discussion post assignments and research paper. The paper was not bad and the discussion post were not long but they were topics to make you think. I can say that he was very quick in responding to email and grading writing assignments
slater is good. he explains the subject but expects students to do there part. he made a boring subject interesting. like everybody say his test are hard.
He does not give much slack and have no sense of humor. Very dry in class with a lot of facts and information. Gov is a hard subject but he will help if you go to his office.Study everything he say and you will have a chance to pass.
Should be teaching middle school. Gives pop quizzes and a ridiculous research paper if you have any commitments other than his class... no cell phone use allowed, he will keep you after class like a child for texting.
I took him for Gov. Hes not an easy teacher. The tests are hard and he goes over everything a week later, doesn't really help you with upcoming tests. Pop quizzes. If you don't have a secure gov. background...goodluck
Rambles about things not in the book, displays power seeking behavior, changed exam from 130 min to 90 on a 100 question test the day of the exam, made no mention of research paper and certainly no reminders.
I loved this class. It is a COLLEGE level class. If you read the book and listen to him lecture you should do ok in this class. Yes he expects students to read and know something about government and he calls on students in class. His test and paper are not easy so dont procrastinate or you will be sorry.
Amer government is not a breeze thru class. There is a lot of reading in the book and other reading assignments that he cover on test.but you will learn about government from him.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He is extremely disrespectful of other people's views and opinions. He tries to teach his own opinion as fact. During debates he dismisses any opposing arguments as "false" and has no strong facts to support his arguments. He's very ANTI-GAY and vocalizes it during certain debates.
It is good to have a foundation in government before this this class. Mr. slater expects youto know the stuff so come to class knowing something because he will call you out in class!!
His tests are hard and his paper he assigns sucks. It almost seems he makes life harder to prove that he better and smarter in his field. Thats why we take the class, not to learn that you know it better but to learn american govt.
Don't take his class!!! The paper he assigns is HORRIBLE! He is absolutely not help at all, the classes are dull and monotonous, the tests are miserable, and he is extremely opinionated!! The only positive thing that I can say is that you can tell that he REALLY likes teaching this subject.
I didn't know much about government before taking his class. I read the chapters according to the syllabus and I love the class. Never once has he made ANY anti gay comments or stopped anyone from sharing their opinion. I enjoy the fact that he likes to teach American government and he knows a lot about his field. You can not fault him for that!
This is a COLLEGE class, the term paper, test, and reading assignments are all COLLEGE level! He is a straight forward teacher! I think his class is great ! I did not know much about american government before taking the class, all I did is follow the syllabus! My grades are high!
I think this class is extremely difficult. I disagree with some of the remarks about him being prejudice, he isn't. He is logical, and some people just don't grasp concepts. Even though this class is the hardest one I've ever had, I find it to be a situation where most people complain because they don't want to work, and he requires that you do.
The hardest class ever. He is a great guy who loves what he does. I have to work my butt off to even pass this class at all, but you really do learn something here, unlike other classes. Give him some credit! He just expects you to do your job.
I think the people who are being unnecessarily harsh on Professor Slater are kind of pathetic. This is a college level course, and because most professors don't treat you like professors at universities do, doesn't mean that the one who does is a bad professor. His class IS hard. It's supposed to. If you have such a hard time, don't try university.
Slater is a no nonsense teacher with high standards and expectations. His class is not one where you can slide thur and get a good grade. You have to work.
BEWARE! you will spend all of your time studying for this class. It is hard. He gives long test which can be tricky and ask stuff that he does not talk about in class. There is a long research paper and some post in angel. He covered a lot of the book so be prepared to do a lot of reading and talk in class
Took him last semester for american government be prepared to study alot. he will not go out of his way to help slacckers and was at times harsh especially on test. Do yourself a favor and take someone else.
Slater is a good instructor and his approach is easy to follow. Just keep up in angel. Some of the government material is hard to grasp but he does a good job explaining it. I would recomend his class.
Mr. Slater is a very good teacher. He usues Socratic teaching methods so you just need to make sure that you study before coming to class. If don't want to study you will not make it.
He is a strict teacher but it is a good class because you will learn about the government.
He is a really hard teacher and gives you no breaks. If you want to fail be prepared because his test are really hard.
Professor slater is a smart teacher. He gives killer test and paper topics but he do want students to learn the subject. Take for a good high level college class. like other people say here he will challenge you
He made a boring subject the class interesting. The drawback is it can be a hard subject for those that dont like government. You have to read to understand and dont text or sleep in his class because he will call you out and try to embarrass you.
If you want to fail a class, go ahead. That's all I can say about it.
Terrible. I work hard in all my classes, but this guy was just over the top. Won't work with you. Boring, monotone classes. Extreme amounts of work. Just crazy. Don't do it dude.
Professor Slater is very clear and enthusiastic. He expects a lot and he should. If you aren't willing or able to spend several hours a week reading and studying, don't take this class. I learned a lot.
RUUUUUUUN!
I have never had a teacher like Mr. Slater. Very challenging. You have to support what you say in his class. those who want to breeze by do not like him because he does not allow that. If you read and study you should pass. I did.
I took online class and I did not like it! Right from the beginning the syllabus was confusing, no help from teacher.Tests are very difficult, many questions are not from the course, wording confusing.I am a good student but I couldn't get A. And research paper-insane. DO NOT recommend.
Good class. Not overly hard if you do some reading and understand the subject.
Ridiculous class. Took on-line. Did not share same political views with teacher and I feel that it cost me points in the class. The research paper is beyond what a 2000 level course should ever be. I basically felt like the assignments were busy work. Tests were HARD. Not an easy class by any means, avoid it
Anyone who says that this professor is bad is just one of those lazy people. This man challenges you to understand the government, not just memorize dates and names.
I heard that Mr. Slater was unbearable and very hard before I signed up for this class. But I would say if you want to learn about how the government works he is a good teacher. He will ask you questions so be prepared. Yes he gives some hard test but I have had harder teachers. Pay attention and read!
Great professor! He is very passionate about government and challenges you to support your statements. His tests are tough, but if you study you will do fine. I would recommend him for anyone thinking of a social science major. I wish he offered more classes!
If you are looking for a easy government teacher keep looking because Mr Slater is not a easy A teacher. He assigns alot of chapters in the textbook to read and he give other reading assignments. He gives challenging test questions on some information that he does not talk about so be prepared.
I had his on line government class this summer. There were a lot of writing assignments in a short period of time. Assignments were not too bad just alot of writing but some of the test questions did not match study review questions and term. He was quick to respond to email and comments on everything. You will need to know how to cite using APA.
I took this class online over the summer. It was a lot of work. He has a very good BS detector! I do not like History or American Government and he called me out on my posts. Got a C overall...it was a very hard earned C.
This is the hardest class i have ever taken. If you are not hard working then DO NOT take him. The test are very hard and the mandatory research paper is ridiculous there re so many rules of what to do and what not to do. If you do not care at all about the government then dont take him because you have no choice but to care in order to pass
Worst Professor Ever!! He is an ignorant self absorbed blow hard. His test have barely anything to do with the material covered in the book. If you do take his classes don?t ever be short on words on your writing assignment or he will give you a zero. One positive is he responds to e-mail quickly but isn?t always helpful in his responses.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is the worst professor, he covers a lot of information very fast and the tests are very hard. The research paper is ridiculous, it is almost like he is out to get you. If you want an A do not take him, you most likely will fail.
Yes, this class is hard but Mr. Slater is extremely passionate about his subject and I appreciate his lectures. Mr. Slater is extremely clear in what he wants on the research paper...read the directions and please start writing it as soon as you can. Horrible idea to take this class online. You need to have Mr. Slater in person.
Hard class, don't take it if you plan on studying 24/7. Wors't class ever.
very hard. must be extreamly dedicated to the work.
Brilliant! He is a good teacher that expect his students to do some reading and work. He's like a university professor. Good class!
You will have to READ the book to understand what he is talking about and do good on test. He covers a lot of information about both history and government and he is passionate about the subject. Not recommended if you expect to breeze thru class because he likes to call on students and his writing assignments are tough.
He knows what he's talking about, but sometimes he is just mean to people who can't answer him. He expects you to follow politics and watch CSPAN in your free time and when someone doesn't know something political he openly tut-tuts their ignorance. Text mandatory. Big research paper after withdraw date. He whispers in a tiered lecture hall.
Really hard class. Don't take it if you just want an easy A.
He is a great teacher. READ the book and review his notes and questions for test. I learned more in this class then anyother at spc.
This class is not one for you if you're looking for an easy A. You have to study, read the book, and it helps if you kind of follow politics already. Paper is difficult and long, but he is pretty clear on what he is looking for. Overall, not a bad class
This teacher is HARD! He is very unhelpful too. If you want to know how to improve your grade or study better for his tests don't even bother to ask, he will just tell you to talk to your peers. If you are not majoring in political science, I would not recommend this class.
Very difficult class. It is lots of hard work. Took his class online & his expectations are not clear. If he says 300 words, write 600. And make sure your name is on the paper. His comments are also useless and will change through out semester as to what he expects. MUST READ BOOK!Don't use any encyclopedias ...especially Wikipedia as source.
I did not like what I received in this class. It was too hard, the lectures were not easy to follow.
I never liked government but he made it interesting. He is a great teacher who will make you think!
Unfortunately, the due date for quizzes and papers is on Saturday by 9pm, which made it impossible for me to utilize my only study day, Monday. I need several hours to devote myself to the material, but I just didn't have the time. It would be better if he made his due dates the day before class at midnight like other blended teachers. Had to W. :(
Great professor! You have to do a bit of thinking in ths class. He knows the subject.
Professor Slater cares that you learn subject and not just memorize facts for test. He is very analytical and wants his students to think about politics issues. He asks a lot of questions in class so you need to read the book and review his notes. Not a easy A but I do recommend for challenging experience.
OMG! A challenge. You need to know the information to do good on assignment. Avoid if you are a slacker.
Do not take him! I have had honors classes before and he is not good, it's not the material that is difficult. Very condescending in the way he talks to his students and his criticism does not help. He is a hard grader and it's not worth the credit if you aren't VERY interested in the class.
The guy is not very helpful, is very slow to grade and respond to papers. He did allow late assmts, so that was good, penalty for lateness. He should have been an English Comp teacher, way too many research papers.
Like many of the reviewers I can attest that this is not an easy class. However, if you study and do the work you should have no problem. The complaints about his Domestic Policy paper I think come from those that waited until the last minute to do theirs. He posts the instructions at the beginning of the semester so you have no excuses.
This class is so easy I don't know why people think it's hard. When he's talking he'll say to "please note" things (it will be a question on the test). He provides a small list of questions for each chapter that have simple answers. He also sends yo a list of the terms that will be on the test. If you memorize these 3 things, you'll ace the tests
Good class to discuss current global issues. Mr. Slater is good a general discussion format so be prepared to discuss and know what is happening in world. There is a lot of writing assignents and two online test. Can be tough on assignments.
Interesting class. The research paper topics are hard but you will learn alot in doing the assignment. He loves to talk about current events and the Constitution. And as others say here he is a challenging teacher.
You WILL regret taking him. He is rude and inconsiderate. He treats people like they are stupid if they answer his questions wrong. The research paper(due 8 weeks in) is hard, the requirements are ridiculous, and you won't know your grade on it until the last week of class. Worse than comp II. Doesn't post grades on angel. Most people are failing.
Professor Slater is easily the most intelligent man I have ever met. His class is not easy, what so ever, but it is also one of the best classes I've ever taken. Don't go into it expecting to not read the book. I highly recommend taking this class.
This class is the hardest Ive taken. He doesn't post grades in Angel so you won't know what you have until the very last day of class. He embarrasses you if you cant answer his questions, the research paper has ridiculous requirements, the lectures are opinionated and mostly irrelevant to whats being studied and textbook is used rarely. Avoid him!
Very passionate toward subject. Class is not an easy A, or even an easy B. You have to work hard to get a good grade. However, he's very willing to help if you ask him. He posts questions and sends terms to know, so you know whats going to be on the tests. Paper's instructions are given in the very first week, but don't procrastinate.
Mr Slater is the most hypocritical teacher I have ever worked with. After I confronted him over a bad grade, he just stopped responding to me. The topic of our disagreement was a recurring issue through the year, and on countless occasions I was told I was wrong. Then on the final exam, he put this topic as a question, WITH MY ANSWER.
he is one of the best teachers I have had at SPC. Be prepared to discuss current issues in government. You will have to read the book.
Professor Slater is hard but fair. I really enjoyed his class. I was happy getting a C in the class. The test are hard, but to be honest, I didn't read all the chapters like I should have. The research paper and the final definitely saved my grade and allowed me to pass. Do the work and you will pass. start a study group. It helps.
If you do the reading, check your facts, and spell check you will be fine. Some of the assignments take some creative thinking. Don't skimp on the word counts. Professor Slater is tough, but fair.
Worst teacher I have ever had. His criticism is not helpful. He is condescending. I really felt I did not learn anything from his class. I highly recommend to take any other teacher than him.
Slater is such an ass. I understand he has a great passion for his field but if you do not show an interest in this class he treats you like youre nothing to him. He belittles you and picks on people he knows will not know the answer to embarrasses them in class. I wish I could give him 0
He is a good professor. You will work for you grade but it is work it. Don't expect a easy class.
Great class with a great teacher. Yeah, he is not easy but you will learn alot. This is not a class for you if you dont like to read. He ask a lot of questions in class on current government events. Hands down one of the top teachers I have had at spc.
Awesome! His passion is that you understand American government and the system of government. He ask a ton of questions in class for participation. Read the book because he use it. Overall this is one of the better quality classes and one of my favorites.
The class was interesting but hard. About 13 chapters were covered in the book and there were some extra reading articles from the Federalist Papers and other sources. Four long test a long research paper and discussion post topics were given. Professor Slater knows the government field and he does involve class in discussion.
Do not take this class, simply put. With his grading system, one slip up in a test can result in having no chance to pass adequately. Lectures are all opinion based and do not relate to the subject in the textbook, and his papers are too particular for grading. His papers will make or break you, if you're lucky. Do not take this Clearwater course.
I took this class while getting my Associate degree & am presently in the Masters program. I was looking at courses for my son & immediately remembered this instructor as a no go for him. He grades hard & is not helpful when approached for improvement tips. Exams were tricky with half of my class either dropping or failing. I received my only D.
Prof. Slater is TOUGH. You must read the textbook and do ALL the work to have a slight chance of passing. He's tough grader and will call you out in class and personally embarrass you. I've talked to students in other gov. classes and they all say its so easy and i'm over here failing this class. I strongly recommend DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
I had to withdraw from the class because the teacher would not help me. I would not advise anyone to take this teacher . if you don't know anything about government don't take him, it is difficult class. the first class I had withdraw being my second year at SPC. he would not help me find tutor or anything. don't take this teacher.
I would recommend this teacher. Mr. Slater knows the subject and is intelligent. He challenges students so you will have to study. Test are not easy because they cover three chapters but he do give review questions for test. This class requires some work but it is worth it to gain working knowledge of government.
Professor Slater gives challenging test questions. His test are long but you will have idea of what is coming as he give chapter questions and terms to focus on. He is not bad you just have to keep up the reading assignments. He talks about current events and ask alot of questions in class. Although some complained he is one of my favorites.
Crazy hard, the class average at the moment is a 61% that's crazy nobody is passing and he doesn't care. the only perk is that there is no homework, but there are 4 tests and 4 writing assignments which really leaves room for failure, the tests are impossible to get an A on. He is an awesome guy I will give him that but I don't recommend.
I am not an idiot. My IQ is 135-145 depending on which test we're talking about. Do NOT take this class unless you have one other class. In fact, it's not even the class- it's just him. He got excited when TWO PEOPLE GOT 94%. He WILL NOT CURVE .
He loves the subject and wants people to get involved. the papers can be hard, but he is there to answer all questions. you have to do the work to pass this class and that should be expected. most of the people in my class did not seem to understand that. great teacher.
Slater is good. You work for your grade which is what college is about. I hope he teach other classes. Not easy but you will learn alot of history and government.
Mr. Slater is very smart but he does not review anything. He is way far more educated that he expects everyone to understand him. I approached him about my writing tests and even notes. he does not help and does not review. do not take him if you like good grades. nobody in my class has above a C its ridiculous to think anyone has gotten an A
Slater is highly knowledgable on the topic of government and it shines through his work. Unfortunately, I think he forgets that not everyone knows as much about government as he does. His tests are somewhat hard, but easy if u study the terms he sends u and take good notes in class. I really enjoyed Slater overall and was super proud of my grade.
I'm currently taking 3 classes and am doing great in my other 2, but this class is frustrating to say the least. He has not offered to help me at all though nothing I turn in is right. Awful. I haven't received one positive response for my work. Hey Prof. how about some encouragement or asking me if I need help instead of directing me to a website?
By tagging this teacher "Hilarious", I mean "ridiculous". Terrible teacher- I was often graded for things I did not intend to say (meaning his reading comprehension sucks), he is very "Cite this but don't over cite!", is a severe stickler for references, and relies too heavily on being pedantic than being informative. In short: Terrible teacher.
I would take this teacher again. His class requires some reading and studying but you walk away with a lot of knowledge about government. He is very enthusiastic.
This is an amazing class. A lot of chapters in book are covered. Prof. Slater is knowledgeable and engages class. Recommend.
Prof Slater is a great teacher. He grades hard, but it's because he expects a lot more out of his students. His tests are hard, but you can get an A on them if you study the Chapter Questions and terms he provides!
Not a bad class. Prof is challenging and you will have to do some reading and writing. He calls on his students to participate and share thoughts on assigned chapters. Not easy but if you study review information you should do fine.
Hard class but i gotta say teacher knows government and the constitution. Four test and some short writing reports is the basis of grade. Read for the test because they are long with a lot of specific details.
All you have to do to pass the tests with an A is have the vocabulary and the review sheet answers down for each chapter. You don't even have to read the chapters to pass.
He thinks students learn from trick questions. He doesn't earn respect he demands it! If you talk to the student next to you about the class, be prepared to be called out for the next 10 minutes for disrupting the class. If you argue you will be kicked out and maybe even removed from the class.
If you have no idea about American Government DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. The man knows his stuff and answers every question perfectly. There are 4-5 exams that are very hard even if you study for hours and show up everyday and pay attention. There are 2 writing assignments that all he cares if it's in APA format and not how informative. Not easy!!!!
Tough grader when it comes to writing but he is fair as long as you try and do the work you will pass
you will find that none of your writing assignments will be graded, 90% of the time you will receive your assignments with the words "no grade, see me" on them he will then proceed to sit you down, tell you why he didn't award you a grade, have you fix the "problem" and then, he still won't award you with a grade. don't take Slater!
Prof. Slater is a nice guy, but his class is ridiculously hard. On My courses we can see class averages and the percentile of the class that got scored in each grade for each assignment and out of literally every assignment no person in my entire class has ever gotten an A, and only 3 are getting B's... Steer clear is possible.
Not the easiest class that you will take but it was interesting when he discussed the current events like the election and made it relevant to the book. Writing assignments and test are a challenge you have to study a lot and read the review questions. I would take another class from Prof. Slater.
Prof Slater makes the subject interesting. He is knowledgeable and passionate about subject. High quality!
Took Mr. Slater in spring 2016. He is a very good lecturer with lots of history and government references. Class is interesting but he is tough so take notes and read the book. He expects his students to do their part. The chapter review questions he give are good preparation for test. I recommend and would gladly take another class from him.
He's a very strict grader to start, on his test there are items that aren't even items he said you should study. his lectures are boring and he writes little to nothing on the board and no power points. honestly it's up to you to read the text book and pass the class by yourself. His papers are crazy hard. i got a B in the class and i TRIED
does not give a clear on what the test is going to be
Slater's class was defiantly a hard one but doable. There were 2 papers 4 tests and 6 pop quizzes which were extra credit. He gives you a bunch of questions and terms for each test and if you answer them all you can get a high B or low A very easily. If you show interest in the class pay attention you should do well and he should like you.
This is the teacher for you if you absolutely love government and understand how it works before stepping into class. For the rest of us, this class will really test your determination. He knows the material like the back of his hand. Tests were very difficult to study for and worth most of your grade as of Fall 2016. This was my first B.
If you like vague, trick questions, this is your class.
Professor Slater seems like a good man. He is very knowledgeable about American Government... but... He is a very tough grader. He graded simple essays harder than my Comp professors do. He lectures are okay and he keeps a good composure. Hes just not my type of professor.
From the first class I could tell that he loved political science and is extremely knowledgeable on the subject but for the duration of the semester, he was just not there?? He travels a lot (every semester) which is fine but his tests are specific to his teaching style. Also get ready for his writing assignments- every mistake counts.
Lectures as if everyone is a 3rd year poli-sci major, but treats you like rowdy middle school students. You have to learn everything from the book & if your reading comprehension isn't phenomenal, even that might not be enough. Will call you out in class (even if you're taking notes) to force participation & likes to ask trick questions. Scary!
Took a month and a half to grade our first writing assignment, gave them back 1 day before our 2nd was due; how are we supposed to fix our mistakes if we don't know them? Missed more than 5 classes; was a somewhat absent teacher. As a student passionate about government, I felt he was rude to me and favored a couple students over others.
Seems like a great person and I love the fact that he is so passionate about government! He is a very tough grader, gives pop quizzes for extra credit which is nice but his grading system was horrible! I did learn a lot so I cant complain but I really had to work hard to earn my grade.
He is a great Professor that knows his stuff, but It is a lot of information to take in. You MUST read the book and listen in class to pass this class.
Would not recommend this teacher. Especially online courses. He is not specific with what he wants and takes off points for not having something that he never asked for in an assignment or in the rubric for it. Very picky with everything he grades. I asked a question about a paper and he did not get back to me until a week after the paper was due.
If you are searching for an American Government class and professor Slater is the last one left, there is a reason why. Do not take his class. You will pass if you dedicate your life to it, otherwise you will fail. Essays are graded very hard. You have a chance at extra credit that will help, but it wont be enough to pass you. DO NOT waste $300.
He's really knowledgeable, but he seems to forget that not everyone knows about government as much as he does. The material on the tests are not always covered in class, and you probably won't know your grade until the end of the semester.
Great teacher! Those that complain dont want to work for grade. He is not easy but you can pass if you do the work. He gives study questions for every chapter. I got a B in this class and look to take other classes from Prof. Slater. Some of my classmates were not ready for his level of challenge. Make sure that you are up for challenge class.
Prof Slater is tough grader. Four test and two papers and some pop quizzes. A lot of history and government information is covered. Read the textbook and you should do okay. He can be critical of classwork.
I think he is very knowledgeable about the subject BUT he was very rude, misguiding, and a lousy lecturer. Tests made no sense to what he was teaching. Waited over a month to grade our first writing assignment and it was less than a week before the second was due. Some he didnt even grade for minimal issues that couldve been changed on the spot.
He is quite knowledgeable about his subject matter, but throughout his classes, he rambles about off-topic items, and also talks about how useful certain websites are for the class, but he forgets to mention that everything he speaks about during his lectures - WILL NOT BE ON THE EXAMS. READ THE TEXTBOOK - FORGET WHAT HE SAYS IN CLASS.
The class is alot of lecture and some videos. About 13 chapters covered in book. Four major test and some chapter quizzes. Review the chapters because he ask class questions and expect you know information. It is an interesting class and Slater is interesting but it is not easy.
Worst class I've ever taken. Couldn't care less about his students; practices favoritism, treats you like an idiot when you don't know the answers, takes forever to grade papers--which are impossible to get a decent grade on, by the way. Extremely poor lectures, shouldn't even be licensed to teach. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS.
All I have to say is this: he shamed all of the students for going and talking to the academic chair about his poor performance, and punished us for it. Just keep that in mind if you are seriously planning on taking him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! If you aren't good at government you will fail! Very hard, and a very hard essay grader! Very nice very intelligent but you won't pass so don't waste your money!!!
Slater Am government was a good class though it is not entry level. Will have to devote time to preparing. Test are very detailed but doable if study. He is strict with assignments.
The first thing I will say is prof slater does not present american government in a biased way. I still do not know his political ideals. He is very challenging in class but willing to help if you go to his office. Reading and studying is a must. Study the chapter questions because they will help you pass test.
Great teacher. Tough but fair. Government was not my favorite subject but I now have a little appreciation for government thanks to Prof Slater. Some in my class complained about him but I saw that if you do the work- read the book and try to understand and ask questions in class that can help with learning am gov.
Where do I start this teacher is the toughest grader. The highest score that he seems to give it 50%, you will not pass this class. He will grade your part 1 project and give your terrible feedback, saying you don't know this topic and this is wrong. you need to be teaching us not putting us down. Don't make this mistake and take this teacher.
There is a reason this class was your last choice for a Gov class. Seams very nice and smart at the beginning but quickly shows you that he has no sympathy and grades life we are all trying to be doctors. I've written lots of essays before but being handed mine back and being told to re-write it on a new topic was a tough pill to swallow. DONT TAKE
Professor Slater is a tough professor, not going to lie, but you will be extremely educated on the subject if you put forth the work. He is very strict with grading and you MUST study/put quite a bit of effort into his class. Papers must be perfect, make sure they go to a writing tutor. Textbook is important without it you will fail his tests.
First I'll start off by giving professor Slater credit for being very knowledgeable in the subject. The break down is tests are too lengthy and multiple choice answers are too closely related(unless you really know the material). Aside from those two complaints, the class isn't terrible.
He was by far the most difficult professor Ive had. He grades papers harshly, his tests are long and he gives little review and study tools. He gives you probably 30 questions to study for an 80 question test. Asks more about locations of rights in the constitution rather than what they actually mean. Would definitely never ever take him again.
Great Prof. Great class. This class is very informative on constitution history and government. He talks about current events.
Took Mr. Slaters online government in fall. Lot of writing assignments. Big research paper and chapter writing assignments and discussion post assignments. there are some short quizzes and two test. He responds quick to email and gives good information and feedback. Would recommend but dont fall behind on assignments as there is alot.
I was nervous to take this class. Everything you read is true however you have to take it with a grain of salt. Test can be hard IF you dont read the textbook or show up to class. There are 2 papers and 4 exams. He gives you the specifics on what he wants from the papers. You have to focus if you want to pass. There are also 6 extra credit quizzes
He's interesting teacher in presentation. Very enthusiastic about government. Not a breeze class for easy A.
Mr. Slater was tough but fair. Test are long and cover many chapters. There are four test. He does post chapter test questions and review terms. Need to study extra to do good. overall a good course that covers many aspects of government.
I havent struggled in courses before, and this one was extremely difficult. Grading on writing assignments is ridiculous and unreasonable. He adds facts he knows but we werent taught, and removes points for not including them. I got an F on my final paper intro for unrealistic reasons, and then an A after changing nothing, showing inconsistency.
Professor Slater is very organized. Two big test, some short quizzes and alot of writing assignments but it was interesting. Never thought id say government was interesting. Quick to respond.
Good teacher but a bit hard. In spring we had 4 test and 2 research papers. Paper topics were difficult and test were long. Advice: dont wait till last minute.
By far the toughest professor I have had. A very harshly grader, shows you no sympathy whatsoever. I could barely make C. Two major research papers, 4 tests plus 6 pop up quizes ( for extra point). His tests are very difficult, he gave out like 10 points to study for a 65+ questions test. There were literally a hundred question on his final.
I came in his class not knowing anything about government and left with a high level of knowledge and appreciation for government. mr. Slater is a amazing teacher and knowledge about subject. Do the work and you should do fine.
Professor Slater is one of the best teachers I had. I agree with other comments here that he is challenging but he does provide study questions that guide for the test. Read up on current events because he likes to talk about them and that make it interesting.
Had professor Slater a year ago when the election for Congress. informative on election. Class require work covered about fifteen chapters in book long test and paper. I managed to get a B. If looking for easy A take someone else.
Worst professor Ive taken. His tests are more on location of where it is like which article/section instead of what it actually means. Id rather learn what it all is not WHERE it all is. 2 big essays, 4 LOOONG exams. Lecture is super boring. I wont lie, I learned A LOT. And I RETAINED a lot of it but I still failed his exams . Do not take
I can say professor Slater knows his subject. Although, i had to put in alot of work to pass class test were challenge itwas worth it because i now understand what is going on in government. He always answered my questions quick.
He was amazing. Detailed conversations. Kept me interested in government which was something that I was not interested in the beginning.
Just finished my degree at UofF. Came here to say how much his course work requirement prepared me for university. There were a lot of writing assignments in his online class and the feedback helped me to focus and stay on task and got me use to navigating hard classes at UF. Solid class.
Took prof Slater a few years ago. He had high standards but I really liked him and appreciated all the global issues we talked about in international relations. I left understanding why countries make their decisions. Now I have greater understanding of global problems and the challenges in solving them. A big thank you.
