Terrible teacher. She cant even speak english. She knows way too much and thinks she owns the world. She tries to explain things at a level only other qualified Dr.'s would understand. Take anyone but her (like Dr. Bonne).
Dr. Falahi is an amazing teacher. It takes some pepople a while to get used to her accent, but she knows what she is talking about. Her classes are not easy, but if you work hard, you will get an A. She is extremely helpful, all you have to do is ask.
Dr. Falahi is an incredible teacher. She knows and loves her subject. Sometimes she is a little difficult to understand but all you have to do ask her to repeat something and she does. You do have to work for your grade but you learn best that way.
Dr. Falahi is highly opinionated. Her objectives were hazy at best.
Dr. Falahi makes you work hard, and if you do you pass the class. I have learned so much about how poorly society REALLY treats women. This course is a real eye opener! Everyone could benefit, this is about real life!
Dr. Falahi is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I wish every woman and girl I know could take one of her classes.
Very hard class, but good teacher

very hard, but you will learn a lot from her. cover way too much material.
SHE IS TOO HARD! THE TEST ARE LIKE TAKING A GRADUATE SCHOOL COURSE.
You cant understand what she says. She gives way too much work and requires too much.
Dr. Falahi has her opinions, definately a feminist. Very interesting and cover a lot of interesting topics. Reading is a must! A lot of writing. Five papers for each section. Very interesting class.
She is one of the best instructors I've ever had. One of the few who actually cares about her students on a personal level. It's obvious that she loves to teach. Very much a social activist. The most enlightening teacher at JJC. Hard work with a huge payoff, she really knows what she's doing
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON IN HER CLASS. SHE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. I WOULD NEVER TAKE ANY CLASS FROM HER AGAIN.

I have taken all of the classes taught by her; she is a wonderful teacher. The only people that whine are the lazy ones that think college is for haniging out in the hallway.
Horrible teacher. An intro to soc class was taught as if we were all majors in soc. Not to mention the rediculous work load as if it was the only class we were taking.
A great teacher, really loves teaching what she teaches. Has a passion that most teachers dont have, so I'm not complaining. She cares about her students, and I think I just might be one of teachers pet. lol
I have head four of her classes now, and I just adore her. The work load is HEAVY. But you'll learn a LOT. She is very passionate about her subject matter. Only take her classes if you seriously want to learn!
She is a great teacher, but she talks kind of fast for her thick accent. Other than that she is very helpful and willing to listen to students

you cant understand a word she says and she talks so much about her other degrees and classes. Aweful experience. A+ student that barely got out alive.
Difficult to understand, condescending and unhelpful, tests full of blatant and confusing spelling errors, not to mention factual errors. I swear she didn't read any of the papers we wrote, just graded them on length and appearance. Although I had heard go
I have taken four classes with her, and she is the best teacher I've had at JJC. If you want to slack off and b.s. don't take the class. Show an interest and participate, and you will get a good grade. She has incredible amounts of knowledge. If you pay attention, you can understand her just fine.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFS. OUT THERE REALLY ENJOYS THE SUBJECT AND UNDERSTANDS IT.
The Class is hard if you slack off, but if you ask her for help she knows a lot of this subject and will help.
um... she's a very nice lady... but it took me like 3 weeks (out of a 6 week course) to even understand her. i think she is way to overqualified to be teaching at a junior college.

DONT TAKE HER SHE IS HARD!
Dr. Falahi is not an easy teacher, but she does give lots of extra credit. The telecourse is pretty hard, if I had it to do over, I would take it in class. I met her once for a final review session, and she is VERY nice. I learned more in that 1 hour meeting listening to her than I learned in the rest of the course. She knows her stuff.
Dr. Falahi's class in not easy, but it is the most meaningful learning experience that I have had thus far at JJC. She is absolutley brilliant and is very passionate about the subject matter. If you want to learn take the class. If you want to slack off this is not the place to be doing it. The class is worth every penny.

She's got a lot of great ideas. She's controversial, which is probably why students give her bad ratings. She raises awareness to many subjects. JJC needs her to keep the truth on the table. A great Women's Lib type of teacher.
I ended up dropping because of the load she puts on the students. I was taking at least 14 hours and this took up all of my time and I couldnt finish any of my other homework.

She is a very inteligent woman, but is unable to relate to the students. She is very difficult to understand at times, and she gives out at the least 5 essay questions each unit; there are three units. She is a very difficult grader too, and her tests are impossible. I reccomend that you choose a different professor. You don't want this teacher.
you have to read the book and take notes! her tests are super hard
She is very smart and knows her stuff but I would never take her again. She does not teach well she wants you to read everything and take your own notes and hopefully you learn the information on your own if you do not you will fail her tests
I loved her class, she is extremely intelligent! She does give a lot of work, but if you are willing to put in the time and effort you will do just fine. She curves the test's, and if you attend all her classes and pay attention you will be prepared for the tests. It is very possible to get an "A" in her class. I recommend her to anyone.
If you are a full time student and have no time to read a lot and do a lot of essays then do not take her i think she assigns way to much yeah she gives you enough time but it is still a lot i will never taker her again
Brilliant! This teacher knows pretty much everything about anything about people. She is an excellent source to learn from. She can be hard to understand, but ask questions! She invites discussion. Then you'll get a good grade by listening and trying to connect the concepts with the dfrnt illustrations.
You can't understand her and she assigns way too much work do not take her if you have a full schedule. I would never take her again I will never take her again

Dr. Falahi is absolutely incredible. She is by far the biggest asset to the college. When people complain about her, it tends to be due to the fact that they do not want to do the work in the class. Her classes are tough and she expects a lot out of her students, but I have never learned more from any other teacher. Her classes are life changing. D
Yes, She is smart and a good person. A good teacher? NO NO NO NO NO She asks questions all through class and then will interrupt you and say something else it was a waste of my time and money
Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but she demands a LOT from her students. Excellent teacher if you are willing to put in considerable time for homework and studying. Some people find her accent difficult to deal with.
she has a heavy course load, but very helpful, she gives you the option to drop lowest test score, if you go to class you get extra credit, totally worth the work!!! i'll be signing up for her again... outstanding teacher
She is probably the most professional professor at JJC as of present. Yes, the work load is a bit bothersome, but it is worth it- as her tests are extremely easy. While her tastes are a bit feministic, she is NOT a man-hater unlike some of the other professors at JJC (i'm not going to mention who). Otherwise, se is awesome!
She should not be teaching at a Junior College. She instructs as though everybody in the classroom already has common knowledge of her subject, and the only people who enjoy her classes seem to be people who are seriously interested in pursuing said class subject as a career. She is also famously opinionated, and can be outright harsh at times.
Her classes are hard, but you'll know your stuff by the end.
very knowledgeable, however extremely hard to understand( fast talking, AND thick accent, and etremely opinionated)... I was extremely upset because I really love the subject but she just didnt do it for me and severAL OTHER STUDENTS.Unless your up for an intense challenge dont even bother because you will be confused through out the entire class..
I took Anthro 275 in SUM 2007. Prof. Falahi is at times hard to understand, but what she has to teach is worth listening intently. She is fairly strict, but she does not play favorites. I will say that her class is not for the faint of heart, but if you enjoy expanding your scope of the world around you, then I highly recommend her courses.
She is without a doubt the best teacher I have ever encountered at JJC. Dr. Falahi will make you WORK but you'll learn a lot. Go to class, participate in discussions, and you'll be fine. She can be intimidating but she is a walking encyclopedia and always, always willing to help. Just ASK.
Those who complain about Falahi, obviously do not take a holistic approach to the course(s). She is HIGHLY knowledgeable and will see through you if you are there simply "because it sounded interesting." If you do your best, she will go out of her way for you and also DOES NOT play favorites. Also, she is the most professional professor at JJC.
She is certainly much nicer, more learned, and even more approachable than some of those other god-awful supposed "feminist" professors at JJC (whom actually seem as if they are reverse misogynists...)
She is wonderful. If you want to earn your grade this class will do that for you. There is a heavy work load so if yo have a full schedule you might not want to take this class. I had one and still got an A. Class discussions are mandatory for participation points. I'm not going to lie you really have to study for the tests she assigns.
This instructor inspired me to work hard and follow my dreams. Yes, you have to do your homework in order to pass her class (go figure). She encourages class discussion and will pause to answer any questions. She is overqualified for community college.
If you are ready for a challenge and this is the only class for your semester then go go for it. For the rest of you only looking for a 3 credit class find a diff. teacher. So hard to understand and talks very fast and very opinionated. I loved the subject and I hated that soc class. Good LUCK!
shes bad. cant understand a word she says, and unless you feel like doing homework for 10 hours a night take her.
Oh my god! Let me tell you. This lady is a real piece of work. Would not recommend her at all, even to someone i hate. There are three units, for each one there is like 8 essays, an online assingment, its bad. Wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely have to take it.
biggest regret of my life thus far, never again!!!!!!!
omg. horrible teacher. i took soc 101 on telecourse. i always emailed her and she NEVER emailed me back. tests are super hard and with every test you have to write an essay. you also have to write a 6-8 page research paper! i took 2 difficult science classes and got better grades in those classes than this class. dont take!
Dr. Falahi is a brilliant professor, eager to help students, and has no room for apathetic, lazy students. If you put forth an honest effort (she will see it) and participate in class, you should be prepared for the exams. If these people feel her courses are difficult, try courses at 4-year colleges, and you'll see how really difficult it is!!
To be honest, most of the previous commentators sound thoroughly ignorant, given their labeling this professor as a "man-hater, fem-nazi," etc.- especially since there are worse "Fem-Nazi" professors at JJC. She is a wonderful asset to the college, and also helps her students that DO care about the course. It's really a two-way street. EFFORT!!!!!!
I just began attending her Sex/Gender/Power class. the first day I came in she began bashing white males. Right now I am trying to do an assignment from her and I don't know where to begin. I am halfway through reading the chapter but I have 2 other essays from her to type and all before work at 5. There is no way i am going to be able to finish it
WOW! Dr. Falahi is one of THE BEST instructors at JJC. She pushes you to do beyond great! She gives alot of work for one Unit BUT thats the only way to learn the material WELL!! If your lazy and want an easy A than ont take her. YOU HAVE TO EARN YOUR GRADE. which is the way it SHOULD be!! I LOVED HER!!!!
She appreciates it if people actually care about the topic. She makes you think. I grew up learning a feminist point of view, so I played the game. I didn't realize that the PC-police are so thick in education. Just tell her what she wants to hear, and you will pass well. The only free thought appreciated by her is if it agrees with her. :-)
Dr. Royah, though intimidating at times, made the class VERY interesting, and very rewarding. She always had something very intersting to say on whichever subject we dicussed, and she was genuinely interested in what the students had to say. If you want a challange, take this class!
Dr. Falahi is a wonderful educator. She is extremely knowledgeable, and I would recommend her to anyone as long as they are willing to put the work in (and there is a SIGNIFICANT amount of work). Probably the best teacher I've ever had.
I loved the class. She seems like a very nice and extremely intelligent woman. I think I could have dealt with the work load but she wouldn't stop pinpointing students in class and expected a clear and accurate answer and would go on a rant if you didn't get it right or even asked her to repeat the question. I ended up dropping after a few weeks.
The worst teacher I've had of my post high-school education. I took her class online, went strictly by the syllabus, then when the test came it covered material in the next unit. When I asked about it, she couldn't be bothered to get back to me. I dropped the class when the same thing happened on the next test. Ridiculous.
She was a very knowledgeable teacher but being in her class was the worst experient ever!! It was so hard to understand her accent!! got a bad grade in her class because her tests are hard. Bottom line..Don't take the class if you have trouble with foreign accents.
I took this course as a self-directed course (which means I had to watch a series of 1/2 hour video lessons). There was an extreme amount of information. Her tests are extremely difficult. There is an essay question, but the question is actually about 5 questions. Even if you are extremely familiar with the material, the tests are still hard.
She is a veryyyyyyyyy hard teacher. She really enjoys what she teaches but should most defenitly should NOT be teaching a 101. maybe a 200 or 300 level soc. She gives an essay question on every exam. Good Luck. Ha
Amazing teacher. She gives a lot of work, but i learned more in her class than all my other classes combined, and she really makes sure you know your stuff. If you're lazy, don't take it, but if you actually want to learn, take her classes!
This professor is fantastic. She teaches the class at a college level--as she should. Easy? Not exactly, but you absolutely can get an A. She does tend to point out successful students in class (being one of those students, it was a bit annoying even for me). But show up, answer questions in class, ask for help if needed, DO the work = success.
Horrible Class!!! She is impossible to please. Tests are ridiculously hard. She never posted my final research paper grade, my final grade just magically showed up on my transcript. Would not recommend to anyone!
Definately not an easy teacher, assigns ALOT of work but worth it if you are interested in learning. She will give extra points for participation and offers extra credit. Tests are hard but after the first could tell what she was stressing for us to learn and pretty much knew what they would be after that.Lets you drop your worst grade too.
Hard to understand the first couple of weeks, but expectations are clear. 4 Study Packets with Essay Questions, 4 Exams. She picks the Essay for each exam from one on the study guide. Ask when you don't understand. She loves to be helpful and loves participation. If you are borderline on a grade, your attendance and participation bring you up.
As an online instructor, i agree, she is impossible to please. very very hard grader. give a 3-5 page paper to write for only 15 or 20 points. i would not recommend her
While she obviously enjoys her work her thick accent makes her impossible to understand. Plus she often uses her class as a forum to express her personal ideologies that do not belong in a class that is supposed to deal in fact.
this professor believes that everyone in a 101 class at a community college has phd's in anthropology, she asks a ? and if no one responds within 1.2 seconds she chews out the class and patronizes everyone. she is condecending and impossible to please. atleast 10 hours a week of homeworks and endless papers. highly suggest a diffrent instructor
Very knowledgeable - you will learn a lot. BUT, the work load is impossible. Tons of essays, and they must be precisely what she wants. Participation is mandatory and expectations are too high. If you know know an answer to her rapid-fire questions you and the entire class will be ridiculed. Her class format is not appropriate for 100-level. AVOID!
If you want to learn about Sociology, Dr F-K is THE perfect teacher to take. EXTREMELY nice, helpful, & clear. If you work hard and are borderline, she will give you that A. I probably learned more in her class than any other at JJC.
Dr. Falahi is by far the most professional teacher I have met at JJC. She has an incredible amount of knowledge and she definetely expects you to be on top of your work. She challenges you a lot in termns of hw and is extremely hard at grading. I admired her passion for teaching and I will defintely take her class again.
Dr. Falahi is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable, and terribly passionate about her subject. If reading and writing are your strengths, you'll do fine in this class and learn a lot: money well-spent. If you're not so good at reading and writing and/or school, you'll hate it.
Dr. Falahi is brilliant. If you want to not go to college and expect to pass find something else to do. She expects the best out of you, as you should yourself. If you aren't ready to perform collegiate work you shouldn't be in college. She is overqualified to work at JJC. All of you should take advantage of her knowledge.
Great teacher! Students must be prepared for class and a large amount of homework. Show up, take notes, and don't be afraid to ask for help. Class participation is a must.
she's a nice lady, but i had no idea what was going on most of the time. She doesnt post grades online so you never really know how youre doing in the class until she grades your test and shows you the grade, but doesnt let you keep. overall, probably one of my least favorite classes i have ever taken.
Dr. Falahi is an excellent professor. She is very knowledgeable and expects you to be a good student. She doesn't mess around so if you're a lazy slacker, don't take her class. If you go to class prepared and participate, she likes you. The material isn't difficult as long as you do what's asked of you. I would take her again.
Best teacher I've ever had. Inspired me to travel, read more, and open my mind. I'm shocked by these negative comments: she is NOT a crazy feminist and NOT a man hater! I'm a man and did just fine in the class. Her accent is not hard to understand - open your ears and give her a chance! Expects a lot from you but it's FRICKIN COLLEGE people!!
She is an amazing teacher. The people that have dropped her, or didn't like her class is only because the didn't want to do the work. Yes it is intense, but she is preparing you for University level classes. If you want to lear take her class. If you are a whiner don't bother, the people in there learning don't want to hear you complaining.
If you need an elective to fill and are looking for a blow off class then DO NOT take a class with her. It IS college after all but she teaches a 101 course like it's a 2nd year class. In order to pass the class you must attend AND participate.Make sure you take copious notes since her tests are hard. She's a great professor if you want to learn tho
We started with 25 and ended with 12 or 13. She teaches what she teaches, and she teaches it with passion! This class has been the hardest thing i've ever taken but ohhhh.... so rewarding! So if you wanna learn, take it. If you dont want to learn then dont waste your time! My suggestion, just dont take 2 classes with her in 1 semester! LOL AWESOME
I have enjoyed every day of her course I wished I needed more classes by her!
Very hard to understand. Do not take this class if you do not like writing about 2 papers a week. Expect to make this class your priority as its workload outside the classroom will most likely take up more time than your other classes combined.
Insane class. I was, along with most in the class having to do anywhere from 5-10 hours of homework a week, but it was worth it. She's very passionate about what she teaches and she is very resourceful. Just do NOT think it is going to be easy. A LOT of reading! I would definitely recommend though, if you want to be challenged!
She is very hard to understand she talks very fast and expects you to know everything she says instantly. you have to do like 7 essays per unit. she wants you to know way to much material at a time and its hard to learn because she has a think accent and talks very fast. It drives me insane every time I have that class. I hate it!
I took her online 8 week class. She is not good with emails. I emailrd he about an assignment, and she did not reply until after the assignment was due. She is not the clearest in her emails or essay questions. She is also a tough grader. The 8 week class has a big work load, whch makes balancing classes somewhat hard.
Yes, she is an intense teacher, and yes the class is hard.. but she wants the best for the people that are really interested in learning. Do not take her if you just want to skate through college like you did high school. However, if you have grown up and want to learn something, take Falahi whenever you can. You will not find anyone better.
I took the 8 week online class and she is terrible she grades the discussions and essay questions extremely hard and her comments are unclear. She tells you that you are missing parts of the question even though its all there and most of the questions have parts in them that are not in the book. I do not recommend her class at all at least with soc
I just dropped her 6 week online class. Worst class I have ever taken. Her essays are worth 5 points and each one took me hours to do and I would be proud of what I wrote and end up with a 2/5. I am a good student with a 3.7 GPA. I was completely discouraged.
She should not be teaching 101 like this. It is INTRO to sociology and she is making you have to be an expert in the field to pass. All her discussions and essays are worth 5 points, and if you answer all of the questions and go beyond what a normal teacher would ask, you still get a 3 or 4. Her study guides don't help with the exams either. UNSAT
If you are looking to just skate thru and not learn anything - this instructor is not for you! If you want to be inspired and gain knowledge that will benefit you in your college career and life in general - Dr. Falahi is amazing, helpful, supportive, caring, exceptional. I have graduated with a BSN and would go back to take her classes again! :)
Her class is not organized for nothing, nor does she respond "in time". Grades are always late posted and dates on site are incorrect. A lot of work to do every week and big essays. She is a hard grader.
She's an extremely hard grader. We do 6 or 7 essays per unit that are worth 5 points and most of us fail them. She yells at us every class for not knowing material and then scoffs at us when we ask for clarification. She never hands back our work, so none of us even know our grade. Prepare to do more work then every other class combined.
She takes this class very seriously but if you do everything you're told (which is more work than all my classes combined) you might pass with a C. Try really really hard and you might even get a c+
She is without a doubt the most difficult teacher I've ever dealt with. She seems to hate her students. She is unclear on everything and is extremely snippy when you try to ask questions. She doesn't go by the syllabus and she expects you to read her mind most of the time. DON'T take her class, whatever you do. You will regret it.
Very passionate but demanding. We write about 4 pages worth of essay responses a week, and most topics are nowhere in the book. More work than all my classes combined. Very unhelpful and extremely frustrating. I am an honors student and I received very poor grades on what I thought was A+ work. Tests are very difficult & study guides are unhelpful.
I didn't like her at all. She gives so much homework, you will literally be up all night doing it. She is not clear on what has to be done and she is very impatient. You MUST get every book assigned, you WILL need them. I tried avoiding her, but unfortunately I have to take her again for an anthropology class. I do not recommended her at all!
She's the hardest prof I've ever had. She gets an attitude if you ask for clarification and never bothers to answer her e-mails, which has cost me an important assignment grade. Also, when you take a test, be prepared for her to interrupt you and talk to you through the entire thing. No wonder everybody fails her tests.
I'm so sad to see so many negative comments about Dr. Roya! I had to write 8 papers for ENG 101 and about 20 for Anth 101 if that says anything. She is over-qualified. She wants an intellectual conversation to better you as a responsible citizen. Very, very passionate and intelligent, a little humorous, expects a lot, but worth it!! You will learn!
Absolutely terrible teacher, would not recommend her to anyone. She teaches Anthropology 101 as if it's an upper level course. She gives out way too much homework and expects you to read 2 chapters a night and take perfect notes on them. Taking her class was one of the biggest regrets of my school life, DO NOT TAKE HER NO MATTER WHAT.
This professor is (HORRIBLE), she never gives you full credit on any assignment that you do. I email her for clarification on my essay question and she was very NASTY, and did not respond to me until the following week. She is not clear on what she wants with her assignments you will always receive 3/5 or 4/5. I would not recommend her EVER.
I took this class in class. She is very passionate about her subject, knowledgeable, and does expect alot. I tool Eng 101, Speech and Math with her class and still passed her class and all my other writing classes with A's. I was writing all the time, but I did pass. I don't recommend her classes if you can not devote 100% to her classes.
Wow is all I have to say. You answer the questions fully and will still not get full points. You will never get a perfect grade in this class. Also tons of homework and essays only worth 5 points that take awhile to complete.
I asked her if she could check three of my body paragraphs for the final essay, and she told me she would not. At this time I was failing and was in need of a good grade, so I thought it was horrible a teacher refused to help a student. I also studied for days for her test and still did awful because her study guides are not that helpful.
Terrible. Do not take this class especially if you don't have a lot of time. You will spend hours on homework just to get 3/5 on essay questions. She never gives 5/5. Never clear on what she wants and when I ask her what I missed it would be on stuff we never discussed. She never responds when a student asks for help.
Do NOT take 6 week online, if ever! I am an honors student at a 4 year and I had to drop. 3-5 essays plus several other assign. per week. Assign. inconsistent with test/books. Never gives full credit and takes points off for info she didn't ask for. 1st test average D. Doesn't reply to emails. Very unclear. Spent several hours/day on it everyday.
DO NOT take her 6 week online class! She is the worst teacher I have ever had to deal with. She gives 5-6 essay questions for you to answer each week and 4-5 discussion posts my essays always 2-3 pages in length each and she still said I didn't go into enough detail! She never gives full credit and when you email her about grades she ignores you.
Do not take this class unless it is literally the only class you are taking. Two hours of homework per night, AT LEAST. Many points come from attendance and participation. 5-6 essay questions per week that need to be 2-3 pages. Insanely hard, treats a 101 class like doctoral program!!
First of all, I could barely understand what she was saying and writing. She has an accent. But, you are graded on participation so you can't really participate if you can't understand what she is asking. Also all 8 essays and 3 major assignments were due on the same day, so there was no way to know how you are doing. She doesn't use icampus
Worst class I have ever taken. She has awful English, doesn't speak properly, and you can't understand her. The questions she asks are impossible to answer unless you've read the chapter from start to finish (chapters are around 20 pages long). If you do not answer her question within 5 seconds she will call you out and make you sound dumb.
She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. That said I still wouldn't take her class again if my life depended on it. Expect 3-5 essays per week if not more & prepare to read every single chapter ever in the book. If that doesn't do it for you than her inability to write or speak clearly will during her non-stop rants. Tough grader
i hated every day i was in there. also it is extremely hard to understand
Dr. Roya Falahi-Kharaghani is immensely influential through career. A commanding presence, she empowers peers, classrooms and lecture-halls. Balancing the cultural scale as a enlightened heavy-weight in education. I will see her give lecture again. Thankful she forever keeps the discussion of civility and equality alive and lively.
Have been in her class for one day. I can already tell you that this ride is going to be tough. It's almost impossible to understand her because of her accent. There is one Indian student in our class and you can tell she is being favorited. she is very pushy about homework. She gave multiple essays due at one time. Considering dropping!!!
On top of my 6 assignments due Friday and my 5 assignments due two days later I have to read 135 pages and write a responseanalysis paper. No one does their assignments on this online course. Only two people have posted on the discussion board on time. Don't know how she's a professor. Don't take this class unless you enjoy mental breakdowns.
Took her class online and immediately hated it. Way too much homework and essays had to be a whole page long for only 5 points. Not helpful whatsoever, ended up dropping the class. Be prepared to really work, for few points.
I took sociology in high school, and got an A. I had to drop her class because she was failing me. I would write her 3-page essays every week, and she always gave me 25. If I wanted to write essays, I would have taken English. She makes everything overly complicated and never simplifies things. I feel as if she thinks she's better than everyone.
She is extremely passionate about what she teaches and she honestly just wants her students to learn. She does assign a lot of work, but honestly there are loop holes. Just read at least half of what she assigns and you'll be fine. I respect her an insane amount and overall find her really friendly.
The best professor I have ever had in my educational life. She made me into a better student in her class and in all my classes. Without her I wouldn't be as successful as a student. She is very passionate about her class and wants her students to get the most out of their education and make it more than worth the money. This class is life changing
awful class. Don't take it if you want to pass any other classes or have a life at all. very unclear about what she wants but she makes it clear she wants a lot. more essays than English 101 and English 102 combined
This class was not favored by many people, but it wasn't hard. As long as you do your work, participate, and study, you will be fine. Expect work. Expect a lot of papers. Expect her to be on you about everything. You'll get the flow after the first test, trust me. Do not take if you want an easy A.
She expected a lot out of her class, and if you're not ready to try hard then don't take her classes. She can be a little confusing with what assignments are due when and there is a lot of work, but it's an educational class and I really enjoyed her as a teacher.
A lot of people dislike her because her classes aren't easy and she can sometimes be a little misleading/hard to understand. However, I consider her one of my favorite professors. If you do the work (be prepared for a lot), pay attention, and keep an open mind, you'll find her classes to be some of the most rewarding you've ever taken.
I found her hard to follow and would sometimes express disdain when asked to repeat herself or clarify what she wrote (hard to decipher her writing on the board). However, I did find some of her comments to be informative. This class isn't for the lazy; you will read, discuss, write and have homework due every class.
Taking an online summer soc class and it is harder than my 300 level courses in my major at my 4 year university. I am an A student and I have never been graded so hard in my life. Definitely not what I was expecting for an online summer class through a junior college.
Anthropology 101, you have to turn all assignments on the day of exams. Cant see grades online. Talks too much
you will read a LOT, have lots of papers due, and participation is a must if you want a passing grade. she lays it out on the first day of class what she expects. tests are hard but if you do the papers well and detailed, it will help your grade a lot. act interested and ask questions. shes a hard teacher but you will learn a lot.
Her accent is hard to understand sometimes and she loves to repeat herself about herself. If you don't say anything in class she will take points off of attendance. She also gives essays every unit but the details of what needs to get added to them is told in class. She is extremely unclear!
Weekly essays and weekly posts online. Long extensive essays only worth 5 points and no matter how lengthy and thorough they are, you almost never get a full 5 points. Biggest con, she gives you 8 essay questions on each study guide and only 1 is on the actual test. First study guide was 11 pages long and full of crap that wasn't even on the test.
The course is very intensive with essays, and even discussion questions need to resemble that of an essay. Furthermore, she is very unclear in her essays and asks you to cover topics far out of the scope of the course or those not mentioned in the book. Um how can you grade something that was never discussed in the material, power point, etc.
Based on sociology meet once a week. You will have roughly 5-7 essays per section, there are 4 sections. You will not have a midterms, nor a accumulative exam. They will be regular section tests. If you read the section and study the definitions, there is a lot, you will pass with flying colors. You can drop the low grade of the 4. Lots of EC.
Be ready to write a lot of papers and it still won't be "thorough enough".. I did learn a lot from all that reading and writing though. First time I was happy getting a C.
She is so unclear with every assignment you do. I haven't received higher than a 3/5 on any writing assignment. She comments on how you missed to mention things that were never in the directions. I don't recommend taking any of her courses. Save yourself and your GPA.
Has an accent but is pretty easy to understand. LOTS of homework. Doesn't use icampus so I don't know what my grade is. Can't read handwriting when she writes on my exams and papers. Knows everything there is to know about the subject . Exams are not too bad if you use the study guide she gives you. But a very challenging course overall.
accent didn't bother me unlike others, it was her handwriting - killed me! I had no clue what the hieroglyphics written on the board were to mean, as well as what was on my papers. She graded very harshly, she did have good info, but was really hard to keep up with the bad writing, and long lectures.
I had this teacher for Sociology 101 online, the class was difficult because she gave us homework practically everyday. She is a very tough grader, luckily I was able to pass with a C. Just do yourself a favor and DONT take her class and save yourself the heachache
For the online course, you basically have a discussion board due by Thursday and 1-2 essays due by Friday. It is very hard to "be thorough" (as she says) enough on all of the items you turn it. There is anew chapter each week. The tests aren't too difficult if you have skimmed the chapter and looked at the study guide.
Took as an online course. She basically wants you to plagiarize the book for your assignments. She grades the discussion questions as harshly as the assignments so beware. Tests encompass 5-6 chapters. She knows her stuff but I feel she expects too much out of her students. . I squeaked by with a B but it took a lot of effort.
Dr. Falahi is incredibly passionate and knowledgable. Her class is the most demanding class I have ever taken, but also the most rewarding. I am usually a student that procrastinates and does not turn in work. Her class definitely taught me better study habits, and obviously copious ways to interact with others simply because their social status.
This was the only class I have taken in my entire life that I had no idea what the teacher was talking about. She is knowledgeable but terrible at sharing her knowledge with the class.
Most work I have ever done for any class ever. 6-8 essays a week (all 2-5 pages each) projects, posts and responses on top of that. Also- watching 2-3 hour long videos per week. Unless you have no job or endless time on your hands, do not take this class.
30 pg chapters and 1 essay question for the chapter, some weeks have TWO of each. She ONLY gives 5 points for the essay question, which requires 1-2 pages of writing to fully answer & a random one will be on the exam (4) and some answers will be on the study guide. Takes forever to reply, long discussion posts, sometimes unclear, one 6 page paper.
I dont recommend her at all, she is a very tough grader. She never gave the full 5 points on any writing assignment ive done and tells me to be more thorough each time. Her tests are very difficult because alot of what is on the test is not on the study guide.
Roya has the knowledge for this class but she does not know how to share that knowledge. At the beginning the class is really confusing, basically what you have to do is all the essays and use the sheets to study for exams, learn all the essays because she will ask you to write one of those for the exam too. It is a really though class!!
I am an honors student but this class is too much stress. She assigns 2 lengthy assignments PER DAY, every week . In other words, if you have a job or other obligations other than this class i'd suggest take another course. First time I've ever dropped a class.
Does not grade assignments in a timely way, does not answer your questions, does not take late or incomplete assignments, and does not care what you are doing outside of her class, there is no excuse for not doing an assignment. Also expects you to travel for some assignments i.e. Chicago museums and neighborhoods. The class is not worth the gas.
Horrendous teacher, will not answer your questions and expects too much from students. The class is not worth the struggle and if you have a job or literally anything else to do, be ready to cancel everything or drop. Impossible to do as an online class, drop now while you still can.
I took this class online, but I felt like this class was taking over my life. Not even my chemistry class required this much work. I honestly do not understand how a professor could even do this to her students. Everywhere I went I took my laptop with because I ALWAYS had lots hw due which you must put effort into to get full points.. don't do it..
This professor changed my entire perspective on everything, and I mean that in the best way possible. She is very tough and her class is extremely confusing, but I took so much from her class. Lots of homework and reading as well as high expectations.
DO NOT take this professor. She grades by 5 points each assignment and I have never received higher than a 3 out of 5 on my essay questions even though I write 3-6 pages full of information. I feel like I learned nothing and her online instructions are awful. Do not waste your time and take her if you want to pass. Save your GPA now.
She is the smartest teacher I have ever had. She makes you work for your grade, but if you participate in class and do the work, it is a very easy class. If you are lazy and do not show up, then it will be extremely hard. Her knowledge is incredible and I have learned so much with her, I would recommend taking her if you need to retain information.
I took an online class with this professor. Too much of her information that she gave us on her "study guide" did not match up with the book that we were required to buy for the class. She always gave me 3 out of 5 on discussions for not talking more about something that was not even mentioned in the assignment. Very frustrating professor.
Absolutely awful. Extremely frustrating because she never gave me higher than a 3/5 on discussion posts and essays when I know I am a good writer. When you question her grading she either ignores you or gets mad. Way too serious for a 101 intro class.
GET A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR
She is a very tough grader, I never received more than 3/5 on my essay questions, even though I put as much information as possible, it was never enough for her. It definitely did not feel like I was in a 101 class it was way too challenging ( I do like a challenge) but this was a bit too much, she is too specific which made me dislike the class.
I have nothing nice to say about this professor. Out of I want to say 20 essay questions (Around 2-3 pages each time) I only earned a C or higher 3 times and the times I did do better I answered the question just like I have for all the others. On top of that for the tests, the essay portion can easily be divided up into several essays. Avoid!!!
She gives wayyy too many assignments, she has a very strong accent which makes it hard to understand her. She doesnt put grades online you have to add up all the points you got all semester to know what grade you got which is ridiculous
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. Should have been a very simple class, especially since I was familiar with the topic. But she makes it so confusing and gives so many lengthy assignments that it was almost impossible to get a good grade. 30+ essays 2-3 pages each, and impossible tests. Do not take any class with this professor.
AVOID THIS TEACHER! Absolutely RIDICULOUS amount of work. Be prepared to drop everything else in your life because this class will consume all of your time. I never received more than a 3/5 on any of the essay questions or homework. When you email her, her response is always rude. Nothing is good enough for her no matter how much effort you put in.
She was a great teacher all around. It was a difficult course but she didn't make things impossible. She truly cared about her students in wanting them to succeed. A lot of work in the class but you never become successful in life putting in no type of work.
Rude, Unclear, Confusing, Randomly says things you're unsure to write down. Feels like she belittles you and is disappointed of the class.
She's a tough teacher. You have to read every chapter and understand everything. Which we do in all classes but she gives you a million question in the discussion part and weekly questions that are separate. She is rude when asking for help. I would not take her ever again.
Her class was so hard. She gave good feedback on your assignments but even when you tried to correct them she graded so hard. She was good on response time if you emailed or messaged her though. The tests were more about researchers and their concepts in the book more than definitions so know your stuff. Don't think you don't need to read your book
I did not like this professor at all. I ended up dropping the class because the amount of work she expected from her students was unbelievable. You have to be prepared to travel for assignments, which is difficult if you have a job or other classes. Please save yourself from stress and take another teacher if possible!
I found that this class was a lot harder than I think was necessary for a 101 class. She is a VERY tough grader. It's not clear what she wanted within the essay questions. It's also very hard to get 5/5 on the essay questions and there were probably about 25 essays each 2-3 pages due each week sometimes more than one in a week.
Falahi gives probably the most vague instructions for assignments ever and doesnt answer emails. The amount of work was insane, especially for a 100 level course. Because of Covid we had to do the traveling assignments virtually which could be difficult. You can be insanely detailed in your responses and itll never be enough she always wants more
Definitely a hard grader. This has been my hardest teacher that I have ever had. I tried my best and I still did not get the grade I wanted. Very upset.
This was absolutely the worst class I've ever taken. Professor Kharaghani gives out the most vague directions/ definitions for terms... Did an assignment for a certain chapter and the question she was asking wasn't even in the assigned chapter!! Never answers emails and when she does, she does not provide help at all. Worst professor I've ever had.
She is a tough grader. Even with covid and other professors being more lenient, she is as tough as ever. Weekly, we had these assignments where you just had to answer a few questions. Like a small essay. You can have turned in something 2 pages and still say "2/10, very interesting but you need to discuss further" she is super vague and unhelpful.
For the assignments, she gives very vague instructions and after you submit it and she grades it, she leaves long paragraphs about what she wanted you to clarify or what she wanted you to explain(on every assignment).you NEED to read the textbook and remember every single thing in the book or you wont do well. no lecture, just very bad powerpoints
For an intro course, tough on how she grades shallow material. Assigns essay questions weekly and be ready to type a lot and go into every bit of detail on every part of the question! I would type 2-3 pages per essay and nothing would ever satisfy her. Her feedback would always be further elaborate on.... Tests would be hard to complete in time.
I took this class online due to COVID. There were no lectures given whatsoever. Rarely interacted with her. Assignments had little instructions. When in attempt to seek clarification, there was very minimal, if any help given. Assignments were always graded over a month after due date. Therefore there was never room for improvement. Just dont
She is never satisfied with your answers, and rarely gives full credit even if you answer the question right. I enjoy taking challenging courses, but this class is too much.
Professor Kharagani made attaining a decent grade in her class nearly impossible. Weekly essay questions where no matter how hard you try, you cannot get a 5/5. If you do not read and retain all (and I mean all) the information in the books you will not get a good grade. I have always been a good student with a A/B average, but not with her.
I was so excited to take this class, and this teacher sucked the life out of me. Incredibly vague instructions that were hard to follow. Example: One assignment told us to read chapter 9 and chapter 6 (ch. 6 was not mentioned in unit overview), and then gave page numbers for chapter 10 (also not mentioned in unit overview). Do NOT take this class.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever taken a course from at my time at JJC. Here grading criteria and feedback is unclear & the circumstances give to you to complete Unit Exams are ridiculous. Tried reaching out to the department chair with concerns I had regarding her class and she just made me seem like I was the issue and defended her.
Her grammar is horrendous, there are typos in every single assignment given to the point of being indecipherable. Her instructions are unclear, and she puts "BE THOROUGH" at the end of every assignment. You only get a grade of 5/5 on things if you recite the textbook. No interaction, no lecture. You teach yourself. Not enough time for tests.
Unprofessional. Horrid grammar. Spelled my name wrong in an email. Unclear on assignments. Test are True/False & you have to read the entire textbook. No clear objective of this course & is very sporadic. Worst time of my life and I love sociology so this was really disheartening. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
You will succeed in this class if you put forth the effort. It wasn't easy, but then again, college isn't supposed to be easy! Regardless of what the ratings indicate, Dr. Falahi wants her students to succeed and is always fair. However, only the dedicated will survive. This course provided me with a small dose of reality, for which I am grateful.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIABLE!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! The questions on the exams had literally nothing to do with anything that was talked about in class. CANNOT UNDERSTAND A WORD SHE SAIDS. grading was awful, in order to get a 5/5 you have copy the entire text book. Her "helpful" comments are bad, all they ever tell me is to be more thorough.
By far the hardest grader I have had at JJC. Even with me quoting exactly from the book I would get 3/5. I also have had more assignments in 1 months then most classes throughout the semester
I took her class online and struggled with understanding what I was doing wrong to receive a 3/5 or a 4/5 when I spent hours doing one essay question and discussion board. A lot of feedback is given, but it seems like it is her own personal knowledge rather than info found in the PowerPoints and the textbook.
I created this account on here, solely based on reviewing this professor. This isn't a "Fly over" class by any means. If you are truly looking to learn and push yourself? Then this is absolutely the class for you. Do the work, use her study guide, and learn. It is impossible not to walk away just a little bit more educated than when you started.
I took Sociology 101 as a last minute course for my bigger university that I needed to get in a short 6 week course. My class started with 28 people and ended today is only 11. So many people drop her class. All she ever says to us is BE THOUROUGH. Our discussion boards are only 250 words required and id give almost 500 and still get a 2/5 or 3/5
Take my word and do not take this class. She makes me want to literally drop out she is seriously so horrible. Her grammar is awful and she is so vague about assignments. I will write so much and just about copy the book and I will get a 2/5 and a comment "Very interesting! be more thorough" Do not recommend. Save your sanity and happiness.
Please, for the love of God do not take this professor if you have another choice. She gives terrible feedback, offers no resubmissions, nor extra credit. When you reach out to her she is very passive aggressive towards you. No matter what you do, you will not satisfy her and she hates her opinion challenged.
Beware that she is a tough grader. You will end up having various small assignments throughout the weak that are very time consuming for little points, however at the same time always getting 3/5 without any true explanation on why that is, and it insanely affects your grade. Prepare for a lot of your time to be used in this class.
I've had this professor twice and both times I did less than mediocre in her class for an extensive and THOROUGH amount of work. I will not be in her class a third time. Very passive-aggressive towards students when they ask questions.
DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR. YOU WILL FAIL OR HAVE A LOW GRADE. I took her recently and she was awful about grading assignments. When she did grade, she gave feedback that was confusing and hard to understand. Her class includes discussion posts, essay questions, and tests and for her to grade these, you have to be failing her class
This professor clearly hates her job. do yourself a favor and DONT take any classes with her, many people who have never gotten below a B end up borderline failing her classes because of her intense grading with no explanation/ room to improve in her eyes.
Do not take her. She is so vague about homework. Her handouts are so unorganized. Basically the whole class is her talking and you following along with her unorganized handout. So bad. You must participate. That is fine, but she makes you hate anthropology so much that you have no energy to participate.
DO NOT TAKE HER 6 WEEK COURSE IF YOU HAVE A FULL TIME JOB AND/OR OTHER CLASSES. Our first week of class a total of 16 assignments were due. We had an exam on the first 4 chapters the following Tuesday. I do not recommend this professor at all.
Terrible Professor..... I don't think I need to say anymore. Joliet should be having faculty take this course to see how bad of a professor they have working at the school.
When researching this professor, it was no shock to see these reviews. Easily the worst professor I've had so far and don't recommend taking any courses through her.
Close your eyes and hope for the best...or get out now. Nothing is graded until the last week of class minus the tests which are impossible anyway. The amount of work was frankly ridiculous.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I have never been motivated enough to ever write a review on a professor before, but this one did it for me. I have never had a professor so arrogant to the lives and time of others. I took her SOC 101 6 week course and nothing ever was good enough for her EVER. I am just warning you
Do not take this course online it is very reading and word heavy. It is easy to fall behind and she is very particular about how she grades. For the test, the essay questions are quite tricky and you are not allowed to use outside sources.
Double mask+thick-ish accent personally made it hard to focus on the lectures. I barely knew when we had homework or if we had any, so be very cognizant of that. I only recommend this if you're exceptionally conscientious and have no other options.
Dr.Falahi-Kharaghani is by far the worst college professor I have ever had. She waits until the last minute to grade assignments and it feels like she is just giving you grades. I didn't believe these reviews until I experienced it firsthand. DO NOT take it if you are a 4.0 student because you will likely not get an A.
This is as bad as it gets guys. All of the negative reviews are spot-on. Grading is delayed which gives you almost no time to adjust your performance as needed. Assignments are limited to provided boring textbook definitions, and there are no quizzes or tests to prepare you for the four exams the course contains. Communication is horrific.
Really tough grading! Several free responses formatives per week. Do your best on exams and final paper for an A!!!
RUN!! I had 15 assignments due in the first week. On top of 3-5 discussion boards weekly, there are also 3-5 dropbox assignments that end up being full length papers. I poured my heart and soul into these stupid assignments and she would give me at best 3/5. Literally horrible. Save yourself!
I do not know how to pass the class with such a tough grader it felt impossible
She is a very tough grader. If I could go back and take the class in person I would. If you are not a good test taker do not take this class because she gives you 59 minutes to do a 60 question test with an essay portion and she is not afraid to grade extra hard on that portion.
I do not recommend taking this professor. There is a lot of repeated work. The feedback given always started with "Further discussion required" and was a pasted list of what the chapter was about. No personal feedback at all. This class is no joke, so unless you are prepared to read, write, conduct research and "be thorough" for hours a day dont take.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Even if your major is Sociology, you have a better chance w/ another prof. This professor had nonstop short essays that I would put hours of my time into (even though it's a three-credit-hour class). She would always have something to say and never give a good grade on essays on exams. Harsh grading and expect to have no life.
Do not take this class if you value your sanity and time. 12 assignments due within the first week of class, all of which are written responses or essays. Then there's only 4 tests and a research paper that really determine your grade, the other assignments are just busy work since those tests and the paper have so much weight on the grade.
Honestly I've never been motivated to check this website out until I had this professor. I just had to know if others had the same experience, where do I even begin. There is a torrential downpour of work to do, and for a 101 class quite frankly, it's absurd. Asking questions in class is not permitted, and I am usually treated with disdain.
Absolutely awful professor, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER: If you do, get ready for: 1. Never getting full credit for any assignment, even if you follow everything on the rubric, the highest I've seen on canvas for an assignment is 80% (slow grader btw). 2. Too much work, I'm taking 3 other classes and its 1.5x as much work as the other ones combined.
she was the toughest grader ever, for like every test the high was an 80- which should not be happening in a 100 level class. takes so long to grade then grades so harshly. assigns like 6 essays and 5 discussions boards a week and they all have to be so in detail or you won't get full credit for it. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Horrible professor, she grades WAY too tough and expects too much for 5 point assignments. She also drags to grade anything. Do not take her, save yourself from the headache
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. I took this class as a 6-week summer class, to get ahead in my 4-year university. Absolutely worst professor I have ever had. Gives at LEAST 10 assignments per week and good luck getting a grade back quicky. It is impossible to have a life outside of this course. Expected an 100 level class to be easy but far from it.
Absolutely let down. Professor was unclear with assignments/expectations, and incredibly unorganized. It wasn't really a gender studies class. Class was lost during discussions, and she would talk to us belittlingly. Hard to follow/understand, and no structure or material. She misgendered a student several times and they left class.
Do NOT take this prof unless you are in just one other class and work maybe 10 hours a week. Gives WAY too many assignments worth little points but take 1-2 hours each, and you don't even get the full points. About 10 assignments per week, and the video assignments the videos are each an hour long (2-3 a week) plus the assignments. Save yourself.
Tough professor who grades harshly. Lots of assignments and essays weekly, with little time to complete. Consider using Unstuck study AI for efficient study prep to stay on top of the workload.
The class is very essay heavy; they are worth 5 points but in a 500-point class it takes a toll on your grades. Additionally, these essays take 1-2 hours each, having roughly 2-5 essays per week. You will never receive full credit on any of your assignments.
Class itself is not difficult, the teacher is. Structure of the course was not coherent at times Portions of study guides she provides don't align to textbook, like certain words or definitions missing Felt like an ai responded to my emails/no emotion Very strict grader with no room for makeup(exams are worth 80 points and assignments are worth 5)
This professor was absolutely disappointing. No lecture powerpoint to follow, No assignments (just 3 exams the entire course) Insane amount of reading for homework. Must memorize a million terms and concepts or else you basically fail. Class discussion just turned into her talking for us. She is VERY knowledgable though.
I did not learn anything. I was memorizing as much as I could. This "gender studies" class only talked about Men vs. Women. Unclear directions and assignments. Didn't let students speak. 3 exams total. If you fail one, you'll probably fail the class. I worked so hard, but it still wasn't good enough, especially at 7am every morning.
Would spend the first 15 minutes berating us for not doing the 100 pages of assigned reading. Poor grading system, everyone was failing and told us that everyone in the class did terrible on the test. Incredibly smart would be better as a lecturer. Disrespected me and few other classmates multiple times.
One of the worst teachers I have had the displeasure of being lectured by. Her basic issue is that she does not belong in an introductory class. She is way too head strong to allow anyone to ease themselves into the subject or find any enjoyment in it. She would be far better off if she didn't teach introductory.
The professor, early into the semester had graded an essay and left a comment that it was four days late, I had to screenshot that I submitted it four days early. It brought my grade down a letter grade and took her 4 days to respond. When it happened again I withdrew. I can't screen shot my on time assignments all semester while in 5 classes.
Prof. Kharaghani (SOC101) accused me of plagiarism and using AI for a discussion post, I'm almost positive she did not use turn-it-in, rather some AI scanner off the internet. I asked for the summary of the plagiarism scan she never responded. I wasn't going to deal with her nonsense; left her course joined the same course with a different Prof.
The aggressive nature of her feedback and grading allows for zero room for an introduction to the learning material. We should come off as experts from reading it in her estimation, which is unbelievable. She demands excellence from students with minimal knowledge on the subject.
I don't recommend this professor. She is a very harsh grader. She took weeks to put in grades and days to reply to emails. As hard as I worked and reached out to her for help, I still would receive bad grades on my assignments or essays. I didn't feel like I learned anything but instead just tried to do everything to her liking to pass the class.
The structure of the course is terribly formatted. Reminders on dates only add to the confusion. Many busy work assignments that take hours, but worth only 5 points. After dedicating so much time to assignments and other courses, there is little time to study and absorb the material for the 80 point tests. Terrible overall, try another professor.
This professor accused me of using AI and when I questioned it and asked for my grade to be reconsidered she said it wouldn't be fair to the other students. So many five point homework assignments that take hours to complete each week and she never grades me higher than a 3/5. I have a D currently. It feels like nothing is good enough for her.
Terrible in all aspects when considering this is an introductory course. Strongly avoid to save yourself unnecessary headaches. I have taken 4 classes this semester with all A's with the exception of this class. I currently have a C and this could not be further from representing the effort I have put in. Strongly advise to take any other professor
Absolutely awful professor. Accused me of using AI, extremely essay heavy, questions for essays are often not answered in the textbook or in the weekly PowerPoints and are expected to elaborate in detail with very limited info. Tests are 61 questions (60 multiple choice and 1 essay question) with only 59 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THEM!
This instructor is insanely critical and otherwise picky. tough grader with many 5 points assignments due weekly that she either does not grade on time, or are averaging low scores. very picky with her expectations in terms of assignments and does not allow book or notes for her crazy long tests. would highly recommend finding another professor.
Assignments averaged as a D/F (ex. 4/10 or 1.5/5), MAX of a C on exams. You will not see the bad grades until it is past the drop date. Not to mention, if you do not have at least 20 hours a week to finish all the work she assigns, don't bother. I have never left a review before, but I hope this helps someone else before they waste time and money.
This class felt very unstructured. It felt as if nothing was good enough for this teacher and even if you made improvements it went unnoticed. She had very little rubrics and only had “ be thorough” under assignments
DO NOT take a class with this professor! I made the mistake by forgetting to check RateMyProfessor about her, and I should have known better. For six weeks, she accused me of using AI when I didn't, and never gave me any As or Bs despite the hundreds of written assignments I did. I'm happy I finished the course, but please avoid her at all costs!
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. She doesn't respond to emails and gives very vague instructions/ feedback. Super tough grader as well
Grading is inconsistent and takes weeks to be returned. Feedback is vague and doesn't explain why points are lost. I was even accused of using AI on an assignment I wrote myself with no real proof given. Very frustrating experience overall.
Stay far away doesn't grade until a month later gives a bad grade then gives you an AI response that makes no sense there's never getting full credit. Don't try and use proper English because in her eyes its AI. Doesn't respond to messages gives horrible instructions also todays thanksgiving but still assigned a test for today and an assignment
Frustrating teacher, gave many essay questions each week most of them did not pertain to the lesson from that week, had a hard time finding the answers wanted most times even while using notes that were provided and book. Unrealistic expectations on students on tests with essays at the end of each test.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. She grades bad and will take points off of assignments for no reason. Will accuse you of using AI when you didn't use it. Met her in person to discuss my grades and she brushed it off saying I need to try harder and I should drop her class because I will never improve. she never responds to emails.
Absolutely terrible professor, would never ever recommend. Super hard grader also. Takes forever to get grades in. Tons of essay questions and never enough time to finish the exams. Only instructions are “be thorough” please don't waste your money!
Terrible teacher. Weekly essay and discussion posts, yet each assignment is worth very few points. Im a straight A student, yet I barely passed this class because she claims that my work was AI. Grading also takes a long time. Never responds to emails. Grading feels inconsistent and feedback is limited. Save your time, don't take this class.
This professor des not want her students to succeed. For one, she cannot follow her own explicit & objective rubrics + when confronted, doubled down--so, only gave writing assignments to control grades. Was very disrespectful on assignment feedback. Deathly afraid of AI and blindly accusatory even when evidence proving otherwise was given to her.
