She is a great professor. Her notes and explanations are clear. She makes learning easy and her tests are fair. She is also very nice and helpful if you approach her.

Good teacher easy class if you show up every day

A very good teacher. I found stats 2 easier that 1 thanx to her. The tests were not hard and my "C" is all my fault. She's one of the few people in this school that motivate people to come back and learn, thus changing lives. Thank you.

This is the easiest professor to take for methods. She gives you all dvise you need to write your papers. You can not fail the class unless you don't study. all the test are based on her easy notes.

She's an excellent professor! Knows how to teach, makes it simple to understand. She's straight to the point, and she's nice and helpful. Show up every day and do your assignments, ask questions when/if necessary, and study (not that bad at all). Stats. is a math I enjoy now, hey it's for my major anyway! Excellent!!

Dr. M is very intelligent & very smart. She is a good lecturer & most importantly, she uses the board a lot so you can actually study from your notes. She is not difficult but you do have to study & do your homework. She is very nice & she will help any student who asks for help. She only teaches Soc 364 in the fall & all her class books up fast!

She is the best teacher I had in the Sociology department at CSUN. She is very helpful and geniounly cares about her students. She is very clear. If you want to learn, take her.

This is a required class and I wasn't looking forward to taking it. However, this professor made it interesting. I really enjoyed her class.

Spoon feeds you the material. Very available to the students that need help before class and office hours. You have to study for the tests for sure. Highly recomend her if you hate math or don't typically do well in math. Writes on the board, your notes will get you through the tests. Not a lot of homework, but need to hand in, lab is not difficult

I was not looking forward to this class but Professor Mavaddat was great! She went above and beyond and was super nice. I would recommend her for a professor. Tests are pretty hard, but if you show up for class and take good notes you don't really need to read the book. Attendance is pretty important, too.

I love this professor. She has been one of my favorite professors. I learned so much, she's not super easy, because her test are somewhat difficult. TAKE GOOD NOTES. write down her examples, they help with the test. She is always willing to help, and she is super nice. I 100% recomend her!!!

I hate math, and I'm not the best at it, but she makes it seem a lot easier for some reason. She is really nice, and really helpful. 4 quizzes, midterm, final, and homework that is not always mandatory, just helpful if you do it. I would definitely take her for SOC 497

I have never posted a review about a teacher, until now. I do not know where to start. Dr. Mavaddat made social statistics fun, and easy to learn. Attend class on a regular basis, pay attention, take notes, do the homework and you'll ace the class. Teacher, if you ever read this, you're amazing!

took class online. not hard. 4 tests and about 14 weekly discussion posts. not a difficult class. be sure to read the reader and go through the powerpoints. very helpful, but i would recommend you buy the book. the powerpoints are not extensive so it helps answer the posts and some test questions. good class, not the most intense, would take again!

Hard class, GREAT Professsor. She is very funny, and does her best to make things interesting. My class was 6-9:45 and it was nice that she gave us breaks every hour, especially after being at work all day! Take this class with her! I wish she taught other classes in the MPA program.

I was not looking forward to Soc. Statistics but Dr. Mavaddat is awesome! She is so nice and explains everything well. The lab is easy & there is very little homework. There are 4 quizzes the lowest gets dropped, 1 midterm, & 1 final(not cumulative). Saturday class never lasted longer than 1pm.

Dr. Mavaddat is awesome!!! I usually have a difficult time in Mathematics but she is very clear and goes straight to the point. She also makes class very fun by making small talk. You can definitely tell she enjoys teaching. There are 4 Quizes where she drops the lowest score, +1 midterm and final. I highly recommend this class.

She really is a saint. Im obsessed with her and the class. She does everything to make the class fun and enjoyable. If you study, I guarantee you will get an A. The test questions are mostly from her notes, only a few questions are from the book. But if you pay attention at class, you wont need to read the book at all.Love her!

Prof. Mavaddat is a great teacher! I had her before for Social Stats, and this semester I took her again for Soc 497. She is very organized and presents the information very clearly. Tests are multiple choice with a few short answer. There is also a study paper you have to write, which really isn't as hard as it sounds.

Dr. Roya Mavaddat is a wonderful professor! She is helpful, compassionate, and understanding. She is there for you! She is structured and clear on her assignments. I would highly recommend her. There are only two professors well-qualified for teaching SOC364 and SOC497, it's her and Lori Campbell. Dr. Mavaddat saved my semester in the Spring 2015!

I had to take her combined class of 497&424 + lab on Sundays and she was just great. sucked being in class for 5 hours but she tried to make it as painless as possible. this was my second time take the stats but she really helped me to pass and understand the material. ASK ASK ASK questions. every class has at least 2 labs, try not to miss.

I'm currently taking her and I think she is an AMAZING professor. She is very caring, sweet, and really wants you to succeed. Her expectations are clear and is very knowledgeable about the subject. She graded assignments within a week and was on top of her game throughout. I wish she taught more sociology classes :(

This is the second time I am taking Professor Mavaddat. I took my statistics class with her. She is an amazing teacher. She has a very calm characters which helps students to concentrate on her lectures. You have to study hard and you will get good grades.

Professor Mavadda is the best. If you are like me and dislike stats, even fear it, she is the perfect professor to show you that it's not so scary and you might actually be better at it than you think. She genuinely cares about her students and their success. I recommend going to class as she does not share notes however.

One of the best sociology professors ever! not only is she smart but she cares about all her students and she really wants everyone to pass. The lecture material is heavy and lengthy but she makes it so easy for her students. She truly just wants the best for her students.

4 exams & a 2 part paper. She's super nice and understanding. Personally I struggled in her class. Powerpoint based. She reads off the PP and students take notes. The book is handy if you want to review what she said in class. If you completely understand the concepts and differences between them, then you should be fine.

Good professor, You will work. 2 part paper, 1st part is huge and alot of work. Lectures can be a bit boring, but it isnt an exciting topic. TAKE NOTES! She is very clear and patient and wants you to understand. Miss class you will miss alot. Gives extra credit opportunites, and wants to help you pass the class.

She is a really good professor. Only bad thing is she kinda forces you to attend class by not fully posting the lecture slides on canvas. So if you miss class, you have to get the notes from a peer or go to office hours to ask her for the notes. There are also mandatory breakout rooms every other week which are graded. And weekly journals.

This class was very stressful because we are only graded by 5 exams and there would be sometimes 3 chapters in the quizzes , made them all fit into 28 questions, you do have over an hour to take your exam though plenty of time to take your quizzes, study very hard for the exams, you do get to drop one bad exam,Easy grader and cares for students

She does grade by very few things. Me personally I wasn't the best test grader, but the paper however was really easy to do and that's how I ended up passing her class. Professor Mavaddat is a really sweet lady though, so I would recommend her.

I really enjoyed her teaching style and how much patience she had for each student! She is willing to reexplain topics as many times as you may need. This lecture class is primarily based on tests. The lab is based on homework. I suggest you review the material within 48 hours of covering it in class. I aced the class and I wasn't a math genius.

Mavaddat is a great professor. She provides all of the information for tests on her slides so take notes. There are around 10 lab assignments, most of which are group labs. The research paper is split into two parts: the literature review and the research design. She is happy to give feedback and is always accessible during office hours.

Mavaddat is a demanding but fair professor. Lectures move quickly, so taking detailed notes is key. The workload is heavy, but using resources like unstuck ai helped me stay on top of it. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
