Alright professor...course is better with McCartin
Very Clear and Makes Sure you Understand the material...Fair Grader
Not bad.
"think like the computer" ,more like think like a block of wood
Ruben is a good guy... final kinda sucked. Hope he gives the "70" to senior 3's!
Very nice and funny. Loves to answer questions.
Hard to follow in class, but if you take him, definitely GO TO HIS OFFICE!!
Talks slow in English, turn in weekly homework, very helpful.
Takes things at an easy pace. Well done.
Good pace, good teacher

Very helpful and teaches slowly, work involved.. will curve for effort!
Better to understand than Domitrov, willing to help, passes you if you try HARD
Rubens a good guy, tests are tough but doable, do the homework
This guy sucks! The whole math department sucks besides Jiang! Ride the curves.
This di** sucks. McCartin rulez.
he is a nice person and willing to help it just can be hard to understand subj.
he's a hypochrite, easy for calc, gets hard for matrix, work hard to barely pass

A Beautiful Mind and a Heartful Friend
Very good prof for upper level courses; ask him to explain the universe, he will tell you.
Very nice guy, always willing to help. Tests are hard, do homework and you'll be fine
He's extremely helpful and a great professor to have in an upper level math course. He is always available for help. He will also make sure that everyone is comfortable with the material before going on. He's an extremely good math professor.
He is a good teacher, explains whatever you need to get explained. If you get a bad grade it's because you didn't try, or ask for help if you needed it.
Tells you what answers are wrong on quiz and lets you redo them. Collects HW once a week.
Collects homework, easy tests.... Nice curve at the end of the course.
Guy's helpful and understanding, curves nicely. Makes everything look clear and straight-forward. Do homework -- sure passing!
Best math professor/teacher I've ever had. Good guy, great teacher, fair grader. Can't go wrong with Ruben.
I was very pleased with his helpfulness. He will go over and over the material until most everyone understands. Which is good for some, but might seem boring for others.
Neat man, good sense of humor. He is humble and doesn't mind being corrected by students. He teaches at a rate that the class can follow.
He's a very good teacher, although it was really slow pace and we didn't get as far as the other classes. Great sense of humor. Really easy about due dates, but hard grader. Random check on homework. Accent can get in the way.
A great guy, but man was this a hard class. Compare the tests, Ruben's were harder than Jiang's and less lenient on partial credit and I don't know what happened the curve this term. Look up Ruben, people are using graphic calculators on your tests!!
Excellent teacher, and very helpful. Tests and quizes are very hard.
Super Prof! He's a funny man with a unique sense of humor. Good teacher, others may disagree. Not too hard. Straightforward tests/quizzes. Tests easier than quizzes.
Nice guy, Explains everything pretty well. Hard tests and expects kind of a lot of you on them. Quizes are reasonable. Nice curve at end. Best of the russian math profs.

Awesome prof. Admits to his mistakes and actually tries to teach his students!! Very approachable. The Best Math Prof at Kettering!! Take him if possible for sure
Great professor!! One of the better ones at this school. Explains things well, do the HW and go to him with questions or concerns. Really helpful and willing to set time aside for students. Put him on you "good professor list"!
This guy is hilarious, he can't speak english very cleary and says "Do you have and Quezztiionss??" about every 5 seconds. Do homework, and study a bit and he will take care of you. Visit his office for a laugh or too especially if he
Makes class enjoyable with jokes and stories. Very helpful and easygoing, no complaints. Do the HW get the grade. BTW Thanks 4 a great class, Ruben hope to have u for diff EQ.
Ruben is the man! There are two math guys in this school who are worth taking: TeBeest and Ruben. He goes over the material many times and gives you an exam that is cake walk. He collects HW every week and gives a quiz over the material. NO SURPRISES, fun class with him and he has a MONSTER CURVE!
Class was easy, but final was harder than expected. Bottom line: study everything that he barely went over and you didn't understand anyway, somehow that showed up all over the final! He's a nice guy though, will basically write your program for you if you go see him.
Very nice guy in and out of class. The class can be difficult at times as he expects a lot out of his students, but he'll take care of you. Other profs are easier, but Ruben will probably teach you the most.
Funny, laid back. Language sometimes gets in the way, but it's always humorous. Cares about students, zealous about Math. Good guy and good teacher.
Very good prof, willing to help student in and out of class. He has a strong accent, so it is hard to understand him at times. This is just a minor problem; he knows math, and how to teach it. Great prof.
One of the best math teachers I have had. The accent only adds spice to the class. Much more forgiving on the grades than I would have been.
Overall he isn't TOO difficult to understand. He teaches well and wants to help. He isn't too demanding and grades fairly.
Ruben is the man. He makes math fun with a great sense of humor, and a good teaching style. He is more than willing to help during office hours with any questions that you may have. Go to class, ask questions, and DO THE HOMEWORK! Some effort is required but you will learn, and get a good grade (mid 90's)
Nice guy hard to understand sometimes due to language barrier
I love Ruben. He makes math fun and always has interesting stories to tell. You will have homework everynight, but it makes you keep up instead of sleeping through the term and trying to learn it at once.
Ruben is great. I think everyone should take him. He cares about the students a lot and is always in his office if he's not teaching a class. He was very reasonable with the exams. Too bad he doesn't teach Nums or Prob-Stats
He is a very good teacher; makes an effort to help students and cares about there degree of understanding. Tries to keep the class interesting and is always friendly and helpful. If you get the chance take Ruben.
Excellent professor for Numerical Methods. Uses MATLAB and teaches 'State of the Art' techniques. Study from the labs and examples in class and you'll easily get mid-high 90's; plus excellent comprehension of Nums. Professor always availiable for one-on-one assistance in his office.
Ruben is a pretty cool guy. HW is mandatory, but it's all for the better anyway. He makes some great jokes and I'm definitely signing up for his diff. eq. class next year.
He is hillarious whe you get him goint but otherwise pretty dry as far as teaching goes. He will always help you after class or in his office. If you are struggling make sure you talk to him. He is very understanding.
Excellent Prof. Very helpful in class and in office hours. Wants you to do good. Tests and quizzes are cribable and very fair. Grades very fairly. Gives homework for everynight but they are due the next week. Go to class, do the homework, ask questions, and you will get a 93+.
Great prof, continues explaining if anybody doesnt fully understand. grades fairly. homework is mandatory but as long as you do it you get full credit(regardless of performance).
Very high quality prof. He explains thing very well and cares about every student learning the material. He makes the class entertaining with funny analogies and stories. He will check your quiz and tell you if everything is correct or not.
This guy is the man. I got a 94 in Diff Eq and am now taking him again for Nums. Explains everything extremely well. Gives fair questions on tests and grades fairly. Diff Eq is made to sound intimidating but you get out of it what you put into it. Do the homework, ask questions, go to office hours and talk about the Soviet Union a little = 93+.
Very good prof! Makes jokes during class so you don't get too bored. He is a genuine good guy and will help you out in any way possible.
I had him for DIFFEQ, he was amazing. He goes out of his way to help students, will hold study sessions if requested!
Excellent professor. Will help you if you need it, keeps lectures interesting. Grades fairly, gives fair tests. Would recommend to anyone.
He grades fairly and is willing to help students. BUT he assigns a LOT of homework which is graded. If you do the homework you'll do fine, but it's really time consuming and can be a giant pain.
I had him for Honors Calc II, III and honors diffy Q. Great professor and I learned a lot in his class's, but H.w. consumes a large amount of your time. Besides that I have no complaints.
Great Prof, Very interesting lectures and fair grading. Funny guy, likes to make jokes to interest his students in the lecture. Highly recommend to anyone.
Good teacher. Funny. Intelligent. Involved. Will work with you if you make an effort. Fair grading. Understanding. A lot of homework, but tests are based off homework.
Definitely my favorite professor here at Kettering. He gets off topic from time to time, but he can be pretty hilarious. Took him for Calc 2 and Diff Eq, can't wait until he's teaching Matrix Algebra.
You will have homework that will be graded, but he is very flexible about helping his students. Do not be afraid of asking his help. On tests, if you turn it in early, he will look at it, tell you if you have made a mistake on it, and let you correct it. He also has a very low fail percentage, so you may be doing better than you think.
What can I say, my favorite teacher this far at Kettering!! I actually look forward to going to his class. He has a very structured class, and material you are quizzed on comes straight from the homework. He is super approachable and such a good guy, he wants you to learn and do well. Wish I could have him for every one of my math classes!! :)
Very complex exams and doesnt convey the material in a manner that can be understood. All he does is say what he's writing on the board and that's all.
Best teacher!! Knows just about every math technique very well and will explain things differently if you do not understand it the first time.
Ruben is that rare kind of professor that can bring joy to an entire term. Inspired, loves his material, loves teaching this course, patient when needed, but in-depth when appropriate. Cheerful, pleasant disposition. Homework is there, but never overwhelming. Tests are spaced pleasantly, and you know what you're getting into. Top tier math prof.
Excellent professor. He would spend about an hour every class period answering questions about homework. He takes the class at whatever speed is manageable for the students. Quizzes come directly from homework but tests are very difficult.
I don't know why Hayrapetyan has a good rating on here. Worst teacher I had at Kettering. He curves quite a bit but has no grading scale in his rubric so you don't know what grade you have until finals are posted. Unclear during the lectures and I had to google a majority of the homework problems.
Ruben is the best professor at Kettering. He is hilarious, cares about students, and loves his job. This course is hard. The concepts are abstract and require a lot of work. Do the homework he assigns, ask lots of questions, and go to office hours. Tests are hard, but based on homework. Do homework --- Get A
This course is HARD. The homework is difficult, go to his office and ask lots of questions. The tests are 50% memorization of definitions and 50% questions usually modified from homework by changing numbers. If there is a homework question which uses a variable, he will often put a number in place of the variable and use that question.
Overall good prof, kind of hard to understand, and often found better ways to do things than how he explained them, but he's an easy grader and curves the class. Also has an especially small class so we were able to relax a little and have fun with it. I struggle with math, but I got through it respectably.
His class has an outrageous amount of homework for the amount of material covered. There are homework and matlab assignments due every week. The normal coursework is pretty well taught and easy to understand, however he expects you to know how to code in matlab, without teaching you any coding.
Do you know matlab? If you said no then you're about to sit on a rollercoaster. Lots of complicated matlab with 0 instruction; even a test in Matlab where you have to code AND write it down on paper. If you do the homework, you'll pass.. Just keep chugging through the matlab. Talk to him, he's personable. Wrong answer, right process? 50% GOTOCLASS
"I am very disappointed with all of your test scores. I am not sure why you had a problem with it. I have no comments for you." He says to the class. Not sure why we all are doing poorly... hmm... Lectures drag on forever, and just writes on the board and narrates it. Teach yourself and you might pass.
He's a funny character but he doesn't go easy with the class content. Definitely do the homework, if you don't you are not gonna pass and that is where he pulls his test problems from. He cares a lot so if you do badly on a test he's gonna scold you but he just wants everyone to understand the class.
He is a great professor. Many people talk bad about him, but if you just show up and do the homework you'll do great. He's a fun guy and is always very willing to help outside if class.
Professor Hayrapetyan is Awesome! Abstract Algebra is very difficult, but he does a great job explaining the material and the problem solving mindset required. His quizzes and tests are very difficult, but he is extremely fair. He is very approachable with questions, and patient with explaining difficult concepts if you are confused.
One of my favorite professors in this school. Really kind and approachable outside of class, and it's obvious that he cares about the students and their success. There is quite a bit of homework, but it is really relevant to the exams and quizzes. If you do the homework and actually understand it, you won't have any problems getting a good grade.
He is super caring and helpful, and very sweet! I've been in his class and his SI for MATH 204 and he's always been very enthusiastic and kind. His group project is a mess; however, he was always helpful when I had questions about it and guided me through the whole thing. No textbook, just webassign. Exams reflective of homework, how I did well
Really great professor! He teaches backwards in the way Calc 4 is to be taught, which was a smart move. We use Laplace transform for EVERYTHING, so pay attention! Taking good notes, doing the webassign hw genuinely and attending SI is a ticket to a good grade. He will help you if you ask, so take advantage! Be sure to study up well.
Ruben isn't a great teacher, the Kettering Schedule doesn't provide enough time for him to do a good job teaching the material. If you only attend lectures you will NOT pass; Professor Leonard Youtube is a gem. Ruben will help you in his office hours and answer your questions in class. Learn before going to class so the lecture doesn't confuse you.
Clearly understands the topic very well but struggles to explain it clearly in the amount of time given. Our class was consistently multiple weeks behind other calc 3 classes. We did not learn the entire curriculum because of this.
He's a really nice guy but not a very good teacher.
Explains process of equations thoroughly Cengage (Webassign) HEAVY (HW due almost every day) Helpful outside of class time (OFFICE HOURS) Cold calls for participation for practice problems on board 1 Maple assignment (went over what to type) Do HW as soon as you can so you can ask him to go through questions you're having problems w. in class
Compared to 204, 305 is way easier. The only thing that some people may struggle with is the use of MatLab for math, but at this point you should know how to use MatLab. Other than that, really manageable class and Hayrapetyan was great.
Professor Hayrapetyan is thorough in explaining concepts. The Webassign homework is heavy, but going to office hours and using unstuck study for study prep really helps. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.
