well, he taught the highest math you could get,he is very moody he did not covered some of the concepts which will be covered in linear algebra,he is nice in the beginnig but mean in the end, he got perosonal when student did bad in the class.
Professor Leon's an awsome teacher! Makes the course material very clear and his test are brain-buster (GREAT excersise for ur Cerebrum) but not hard if you STUDY! He's very intelligent and honest. If the student a hardworker, he gives lots of extra credit options too! Goto ur class and study hard!
Exams are tricky but passable. Lets you take tests in groups. Helpful at tutoring. Hardwork pays off in prep for Math 60. Strict about talking in class. Lets you out early, which to me was a ripoff. Could have taught more, clearer and better. Ask Questions!
mr.leon is a hard teacher but helps u understand math. lately he had changed for the better. he let us work together in a few things in order to make it better to understand the chap. and he not that moondy...
prof. Leon is a great educator. His class is hard but not because he makes it hard, its the nature of trig. He is very clear in his explanations of the subject, gives you the opportunity to ask questions and best of all, he lets you work in groups. Last test was very hard, should've study more!!
Mr. Leon is a very strict person, but you can learn a lot of math with him. He always say if you do all the homework exercises you will be find on the test. If I were you, I take math classes with him, strongly recommend.
his classes are always interesting. he's a very good instructor and eventhough the test isn't all that easy, he explains well enough for you to get an A.But the bottom line is he makes the trig a fun subject!
omg for everyone who says this teacher is hard ,he's really not.I think this teacher is one of the best if not the best on campus. He really lets you take your own pace and helps you along the way anyway he can.Ya his test might contain some tricky stuff but its for ur best interest.I took this class last semester and it was one of the best.awesome!
Precalculus should be taken with Leon, Calc 1 should be with Demian. Cerritos Math department is shining, and these two professors are extremely knowledged, and extremely helpful in these areas of math. They are like Einsteins (especially Demian). Actually its pretty scary what Demian can do with math.
If you thinking about taking this class, prepare yourself for h*ll good luck!!!
The last person probably never did their homework. You're not in high school any more! Do your homework and don't miss class and you'll be fine in his class.

He is really great at answering any and all questions that you may have. This class is easy and I learn....
He's oragized and straight foward in his teaching! His exams really prepare you for calc.
just don't take this professor ever!
Kool funny makes math fun
he get emotional sometimes when students did not listen to him about tests, yell at students for no reason.
He is the best! He cares so much for his students and if you do homework and study hard you will do fine! He is so funny too.
Mr. Leon is a really good teacher, knows his stuff. However, don't miss a day or your screwed. But, he's always willing to help.
great teacher, but hard tests. always puts a tricky one on the tests.
GREAT PROFF.!!! LIKE THE WAY HE TEACHES
Leon is cool for all higher level math students. He makes you really think about what it is you're doing instead of just showing you how to plug in numbers. Great teacher for science majors too. His tests aren't the easiest, but how well you do in his class all depends on the effort YOU put in. Funny teacher but definitely dont get on his bad side.
I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER IF YOU REALLY WANTS TO LEARN MATH, ALWAYS ALLOW THE CLASS TO LEAVE EARLY. HE DON'T SUPPORT THE ALL THE STUDENTS. HE SUPPORT THE ONE'S QUE PREFERRED.
He is the best teacher ever. Yes he does allow the class to leave early but that does not mean he is not good!! He makes sure to give us the info. we need to succeed and it is up to us to apply it! Tests are hard if you study you will pass!! I highly recommend him!
Um he's a sarcastic teacher, great sense of humor. Pretty helpful if you ask, tends to teach rather quickly. Lets u leave early somtimes. Down to earth acts like a kid.
Leon is very good at what he does. His test start off easy but get harder as you go and the final will kick your ass, so do what he ask read the text, do the homework (that he will not collect) and take good class notes you will be fine and his door is always open. If you want to learn he's the man.
I DON'T RECOMEND THIS TEACHER AT ALL. HE IS VERY DISORGANIZE WHEN TEACHING. HE WRITES BACK AND FORTH AND HE'S NOT VERY CLEAR AS TO WHAT HE WANTS. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN MATH DON'T TAKE HIM.
This teacher needs to organize his lecture in a manner that students can follow what he wants to teach. His differential equation class is way confusing because instead of being direct to the point it became long and windy. He also needs to maximize time. He is dismissing class early and he likes to go home early.
The last two people to rate Mr Leon are out of touch with reality and need to grow up. It looks like one of them can't even speak English - no wonder they can't understand anything. I've had different teachers for each math class at Cerritos and Leon is the BEST. He is very clear in his lectures and he knows his subject well.
I took him over the summer and he's a great teacher. I love his humor and he loves to help. He's very clear with his teachings. Pick him when you have a chance.
Math 115 is A HARD!! course... but Mr. Leon managed to make it understandable. He’s not easy...but he’s clear in his lectures and willing to answer questions and help during his office hours. Great professor, I strongly recommend him!
You never know whether you'll get nice Leon or mean Leon. He can be a great teacher, or he can be really moody. He relaxed once most of the class had dropped, leaving only the serious students.
Extremely knowledgable and helpful. The only thing I disliked about this class is that most of the exams are multiple choice. Meaning, you make one mistake and they're goes practically half a letter grade (4 points/problem). However, he really does KNOW math, and he will better prepare you for higher level mathematics. Oh, and btw, he's funny too!
He talks way tooooo fast!!!!
I took him for pre-algebra. He does talk fast but he wirtes everything on the board. As long as you listen and DO the homework you'll do fine. Study the homework, the questions from the homework are part of the tests/quizzes. Very knowledgeable and fun, easy to approach and helpful.
Very good teacher. Very helpful. Highly recommended! Will take again if given the chance.
He's a very good teacher and his lectures are well presented. His quizzes are easy but his tests have some unfair obscure questions. I got an A but I didn't like how he would put us in groups of 3 or 4 when taking tests. If you get stuck with students that are not very bright in math or did not study, they still get an A along with you. Not fair!
He's definitely one of the best math teachers i've had. EEExxxxttremely helpful and awesome! i was ALWAYS there at his office hours and did the hw.hw is crucial, although he doesnt collect it. the whole group tests is an option, so u could decide whether to take it in a group or by urself. Overall,he's the best math teacher at cerritos!
Leon is seriously a great teacher. He is not easy, but he explains well and gets to the point. I had him for summer sesh so we covered a lot in a very short amount of time, however, the quesitons on the tests were based on his lectures. I also liked the fact that he didn't drag on classes but let us go whenever he was done.
As a high school student taking his class, lets say I was shot down hard. Thinking that I will somehow get through his class by doing some if not all his assigned homework, I was really wrong. His tests are really hard but study hardy and you'll surely pass. The knockers are the T/F questions. Overall he's an awesome teacher.
First of all he is lazy. He gives scantron tests in a math class...Yes, I said SCANTRON tests in a MATH class. He does this because it is easy for him to grade. In doing this, he tries to trick you with multiple right answers and specific word choice. Be Careful. I would only recommend him if your good at math. If you struggle with math, stay away!
The last person is out of touch with reality. His first test was scantron but he told us that it was only because the materials were basic. He said the rest of the tests are written and multiple choice combinations. Grow up!
he's the best math professor ever! test are group test(i am not sure if it applies to every one of the math courses he teaches), and he's accessible. he'll help you at during his office hours. i took advantage of them(i am pretty sure i annoyed him by my frequent visits, but who cares, that's what they get paif for). Just stay on top of the material
study lecture notes, do all hw, read textbook including the derivations because they WILL be in the quiz/exams.Been teaching (20yrs), does it well but really moody, it can be taken as being outright mean though, he is very helpful and smart. He's not an easy teacher. Changed from group to individual tests with two days notice so don't rely on it!
I took his calculus 3 class and it was extremely helpful! If you think of calculus as just mechanically memorizing problem solving strategy, he will help you to understand the meaning of vector function, derivative, and multiple integrals in 3D space. Very Very Very helpful professor for your further studies at UCs or CSUs.
He is a really good teacher. i enjoyed taking math, too bad he doesn't teach math 60. ALl you have to do is go to class and do your h.w. his tests are tricky- but he is great.
good prof. but group activities made me lazy so not taking him ne more. Hmwk is a must cuz he doesnt cover all types of probs. in the lects. and most of what is on the tests was not covered well. Class time is short. Ask questions before a test. See him during his office hrs. His final is long and difficult so good luck just trying to finish it.
great teacher in the office, yet can change into a scary guy in the class. He will prepare you to go thru uni.His exams and quizzes are extremely HARD!yet if u r workin hard,go to his office hours, read ur notes,TB and OF COURSE DO THE HOMEWORK!!u may get an A.HIS FINAL EXAM IS UNREASONABLE!U won't be able to finish it if u dont study HARD!
Professor Leon DEFINITELY knows his stuff! Do not take him if you don't have time to study hard! If you don't understand the chapters thoroughly, you are basically screwed. If you ask him help during office hours, he will help you with anything. He is a great professor, but he grades too hard. Also, multiple choice Q's equals no partial credit!!
He is the greatest Math professor i've had. he knows his subject and teaches you what you need to know not the bs stuff you'll never see in your life. He is hard but as long as you study you'll do fine and if u don't understand something go to his office he's more than happy to help.
Mr.Leon is Great!!! I'm horrible in math but this professor was very helpful, to past this class you must study, join a group or meet Mr.Leon during office hours!
He was at first a good professor. But some students pissed him off. He talks some students agressively. I saw he's not answering questions to some specific students. I dunno what other students did to him. It looks like somebody were kicked off from the class. Just be careful not to make him mad! otherwise, you'll mess up your school life.
Watch out this this teacher! He just pick his favorite students and doesn't help others. his exams are group format. If you don't get into a good group, you'll fail because he curves grades. Your grades depend on other students too. Also, he's usually nice to all students but don't piss him off, he cannot control himself and yell at students.
I can't believe I'm barely reviewing this professor. I had Leon for the summer of 2009. He was such a great teacher for just a fast summer session in Math 140. His test are easy if you study the stuff inside out. He is really mean with people who don't show up to learn or take things seriously which is what I liked about him. Not a push over.
He is AWESOME!! I looove him and he is really helpful! Just do your work and you'll be good... low key you work with others ;)
Terrible! I heard students say he was lazy-they were right!Huge flake. Shows up 10 min late/leaves 30 min early. Uses bizarre group tests so there's less to grade.Cuts class short to grade other class? tests, yet only had 2 classes! 1st day arrogantly remarked he didn't care because he's tenured. He's an overpaid bum Cal. Edu. system needs to dump.
Tempermental. he is late everyday, class lets out early everyday. he makes it clear he gets paid whether you pass or not. He deliberately tries to trick during tests. If you are not math savvy find another teacher. he is good at being clear and demonstrating/helpful. but the tests can be VERY tricky if you didn't study the material inside and out.
He was always 10 minutes late, and would let the class out early. Exams are difficult, but his teaching style is out of this world! Professor Leon is a phenomenal instructor! Very helpful during office hours and will make sure you understand the material. Would definitely take him again. Exams are not easy.
Prof. Leon is the best. His enthusiasm for Math is wonderful. Yes he had brief class sessions but he made sure he taught what was necessary.I think those peoplee that posted negative comments just wanted an easy class. His classes are challenging so if you want to just pass take someone else. I love this teacher. He is the best.
great teacher. attend every class because there is a test everytime u have class that is how he takes attendence and if u miss u lose 5 points counts for 1 test. DO NOT talk while he teaches he got angry and told it like it is. very blunt but other then that good professor. exam questions are from the quizzes
Yes his always late and lets us early. But this teacher ROCKS! If you need someone to explaint things from the begging this is the teacher to take. But you gotta study. He doesnt give out grades. He know how to teach.
He does come to class like ten minutes late but hes an awesome teacher. He teaches well and answers every that u have. I wouldnt say that that this class is really easy, you just have to work hard to get an A. I would definitely recommend him as a teacher!
when is lecture time you better listen or he will let you have it. he makes math fun. we can work in groups on quizzes n exams. question were always encourage n answer with patience. good teacher n a good men. he passed my expectation of what is a good teacher. I recommend him 100%. quizzes in most of the sessions. all questions from the h.w.
Amazing educator. Why this guy is not teaching at a UC+ I have no idea. Passion for material. Check. Interest in student success. Check. Knowledge in subject. Check+. Seriously...do yourself a favor and learn from the best CC has to offer.
Great professor. Eager to help his students and has a passion not only for the material, but also for his students. He and Damien are THE best professors at CCC.
Great teacher with a passion for the material and for teaching. He puts in extra effort to ensure that his students succeed in his class. Allows group tests if the class participates during lectures.
Leon is one of the best math professor at Cerritos College.
Ouch, the class is very difficult, but the professor is nice and (somewhat?) easy. Let us take the entire course by groups, but most of us still ended up with a C, lol.
Prof Leon is by the best math instructor i have ever had. His passion for teaching is remarkable. Very Very helpful during office hours. The class is fun. His tests are on the harder side but those are group tests. So, if u have a good group, you ll be fine. I am always coming cout of that class learning.
Mr. Leon is straight to the point and he tells you exactly what the course expectations and your (student) expectations are. If you are looking for someone, or a teacher that doesn't care about you LEARNING the material, then good luck in finding one. Truly a great professor and I would take him again because of his teaching methods.
Love this guy, really funny. Takes time to answer any and all questions and makes a lot of time for office hours. Depending on your class' attitude he lets you take tests as groups which is great but means if you're bad your team mates carry you for your grade. Very explanatory and doesn't try to trick you, deviates from the textbook when necessary
He is a really nice professor! He is very helpful and his exams are not so bad. He lets you take group exams and quizzes. He is a really good professor. I highly recommend him.
He is the greatest math professor I have ever had the pleasure of having. God bless him and be respectful to him he can become your greatest asset in your academic progress
Extremely DIFFICULT, HELPFUL, and BIPOLAR. Has a GROUP EXAM format if he likes the class. MASTER ALL your hwk! Please, don't take his class if you are a slacker. Save your teammates the trouble. Work with students who are as motivated as you are because later on, you will regret working with those who do not put in the effort to do their hwk.
This guy is insanely difficult! Be prepared to study more than you ever have! I am a 4.0 student and this class was easily the hardest one I've taken at Cerritos. No one in the class got an A. He is extremely helpful and has office hours! (The calc course @ UCI is MUCH easier!)
If your an engineering or math major and not a " im just gonna do what i need to get by" kind of person then definately take him. His passion for the subject is really admirable but he will test your logic/reasoning. WARNING: do NOT talk while he's talking and clearly say yes or no if you make him mad. None of that "okay/yea/nodding", stuff.
I've always hated math, and every single teacher I've had (elementary through high school) was absolutely terrible. Leon is an amazing teacher, who actually cares about his students and teaches in a very clear manner. I dropped his class because math is not my forte, but I want to retake it with him as my professor. Would definitely recommend!
The MOST DIFFICULT teacher on planet Earth for real. The best one too! His exams are insanely hard but he's definitely an awesome teacher.
One of the best instructors at cerritos, my math skills were crap before taking his courses. Doing calc 4 now thanks to his challenging courses. He teaches as if everyone is an engineering major so lack of effort and excuse making are going to impact your grade severely
I took Mr. Leon one year ago and I failed. It was my fault I missed a lot of class. If I thought he was a bad teacher I wouldn't have taken him a second time around. He doesn't collect HW but if you want to pass his class you have to do your HW and STUDY! he doesn't give extra credit and you have a quiz everyday so don't miss class! EST TEACHER
went back to school after 10 years. he did great at reteaching me everything. Reviews HW and Quizzes. Expect a quiz every class, but it helps because u are ready for exam time. Does not collect HW but if you don't complete you will not pass. I wish he taught Math 60 i would take him anytime.
Professor Leon is great. He is a big proponent of "group tests"!! He is good at lecturing and loves to answer questions. I'll be taking Calculus II with Professor Leon when I get there!!
I had Leon for Calc. 2 (M190). His class is very straightforward: he lectures, you do homework assigned, maybe a 3-5 question quiz- sometimes take home, and an exam. He gives great lectures, and welcomes questions. His exams are difficult, and they are graded difficult. This is a "weed out" course for the engineering sciences, study accordingly.
Tests are tough bro. And you better not Talk while he lectures and you better find your self with equally smart people when the exams arrive. Great Prof.
Professor Leon is a strict instructor. He wants to make sure you won't flunk out when you take harder Math classes. Homework is essential in passing his class, as well as note-taking. Do not talk during his lecture or the whole class suffers. He likes answering questions. He is heavy on "group work" during exams/quizzes. Tough grader, great teacher
Mucho Easy i recomend everyone to take him
Professor Leon is tough, but knows his stuff. He is more than willing to help you when you need help to understand something. I would take his class again in a heartbeat! Make sure you don't talk during his class, especially if he is talking. He will let you know he is not happy at that moment.
Oh so you're a 4.0 student? you won't be any more after taking his class!!! Yeah I got a C and my GPA dropped below 4.00 but I will take him again. AMAZING professor. Probably the best professor on campus.
His exams are hard. Does not collect the homework. So no points on that one!! he assigns odd problems in the homework but in the exam he ask you the even ones!! Don't ask him anything while you are taking exam, he'll give you the wrong answer saying this is the right answer! you MUST Find smart people in the class to work in the exam!!
Professor Leon is jut about the toughest teacher I have ever had, but WELL WORTH IT. His teaching style is refreshing - he's military-strict (absolutely no talking in class), which is conducive to a learning environment. Because I am a math major, I can appreciate Prof. Leon, who is a Mathematic Physicist.
Professor Leon is one of the best math teacher I have ever taken because he explain everything with clarity. While he may not be the easiest , it is possible to get an A . You simply have to study for the test , pay attention in class , and do hw if you want to pass. I would highly recommend to anyone!!!!!
Professor Leon will let you know from the first day of class that you will have to put a lot of work in to get through is course. The Tests a Trig heavy and they are tough.
Great professor! He is very good and enthusiastic at teaching and always free to answer questions. The lectures are very easy to understand. If you take him, you really need to listen to his warnings and suggestions.
Group Test! For a higher math class this is ridiculous! No Partial Credit AT ALL! ! He Lectures clear but for exams if you wish to take it by your own YOU WILL HAVE TO KNOW EVERYTHING! Not a lot of quizzes but if you do have they will be worth a lot of points (better get an A on them).
He gives group exams. Lots of homework. Not the best at lectures. You really have to be self motivated and teach yourself. Unless you're good at Math, I'd strongly recommend taking someone else.
He's an excellent professor. My only B in a year and a half of full time classes, but even with the gpa hit I'll take all math courses that he teaches. Always available during office hours and able to adjust to work with your style of problem solving. I appreciate that he is always in a good mood too. A good test team is key.
Great professor, he is very clear in his lecture and is willing to help out as much as he can. He has a policy where if no one talks, he allows 4 people to take a test together. Professor also tries to pass as many students too, if your class isnt doing to well, he will make the next test a bit easier(ie multiple choice math exam!)
GREAT Professor! His lectures are short but you end up learning so much! I would definitely take his class all over again. It gets hard but you have to show up and do your homework (he doesn't check it) but it helps a lot! There's a quiz just about everyday. Don't worry they aren't bad.
Had him for math 40, he's okay. I personally thought he was pretty funny, but i just didn't click with him.I struggle w/ math, but I took night class so its not like i could get much HW help after class. Quiz every day, test every 2 weeks or so. Let us work in groups on everything, even the final. doesn't know how to control his class though.
super hard but very good professor. He is a comprehensive tester. Took precalculus in hs (first time) got a 96%, took this class and got a B (second time). At least his lectures make up for the difficulty of the class. U also won't be able to pass if you don't do ur hw. After doing the hw, my grades went up significantly.
Omg Prof. Leon was hilarious. A little harsh sometimes, but overall great teacher. Although it was tough at times, you have to do your homework! and make sure you study as well. His lectures were short but straight to the point and very easily understood.
We all know why you're here. To look for the easy A. I'll save you the trouble and tell you to move on already. However, if you come to school to actually learn then he's a great professor. Working in groups takes the edge off of exams. You're able to discuss the problems much like problems in real life. With that said, choose your group wisely.
Leon tells it as it is. If you are failing you are failing and he will tell you to try again next time. He is friendly and does not hesitate to joke around. I took him for Math 170 and I have got to say I worked for it. If you are looking at Leon expect to work your butt off and earn your grade. Yes there are groups but it makes tests harder.
Leon is a really good teacher. His tests are group tests that are up to 4 people. That sounds like a good thing but since more than one person can work on the test with you, he makes them extremely hard. they're not impossible but you can't memorize the math, you have to understand it. Leon does a good job of doing that but his tests are pretty hard.
Short quiz daily, lots of homework short lecture. Goes over problems from previous night. Lets you work in Groups on the tests I wish he taught math 60 Ive never had such a good grade in math.
He is a magnificent professor and his lectures are great. He is friendly but also blunt. His exams can be difficult but if you have a good group you will be fine.
He is one of the best professor at cerritos college. Exams were tough, but fair questions from his lectures and hw. Your grade is how hard you try. Just do ur hw and ask questions after you actually tried.
Professor Leon is an amazing professor, and he does an amazing job of teaching. Takes time to address any issues with not understanding material and subjects. He is a great professor when you ask him questions but come prepared with good questions and youll get an amazing answer.
The guy is so rude. Try to be as quiet as possible during his class. I got an A but honestly it was not worth putting up with him all semester.
Makes concepts really clear but make sure to do the homework and ask questions. Best math professor at cerritos college!
He comes across as very degrading & arrogant on the introduction day, but his class is actually very enjoyable! I hate math but his class was my favorite of all my classes that semester! hes very thorough & takes plenty of time to review unclear material. lots of homework but never collects, only for your own practice. definitely would recommend!
Professor Leon is such a great teacher. He is intimidating the first day of class, but I think he's being honest. You have to work for your grade. The class was not easy, but he taught the material clearly, was always there to helped me understand and he is absolutely great during his office hours. I look forward to taking more classes with him.
Word is he is better to take during the summer. I took him during fall (extremely hard) He explains the WHY behind math not the HOW. His tests are extremely difficult even though you know how to solve your homework problems. Don't take him if you don't like or are not good at math. Most kids who understand his class took physics first.
Lots of homework but I really learned a lot
This was one of the worse class I've taken. Since it was all online it could have impacted his teaching methods, but his lectures were awful, he did not provide enough examples and instead of doing a refresher on things from trig, he would just say look it up and move on. his grading was done by his TA and we had a lot of disputes about the work.
Professor Leonard is a really good professor. Lectures are really funny and the classes are concise which is nice. His exams are groups, but do not rely on groups this was the mistake i made ,make sure you work as if you are the only one submitting alone. Make sure you also do homework cause this will help you for exams.
So wouldnt it be nice if a math professor would give us students the same level of complicated problems for us to study so that we have a chance in the exam. But I guess thats just wishful thinking. Why would a professor give literally textbook examples and put literally the most complicated version of it on an exam? Setting us up to fail?
I took his class for MATH 190 ( calc 2) and he is by far the worst professor I have taken. He would belittle our class in every lecture, telling us that 80% of the class will fail. He would also tell the class that they were dumb while he was smart, to be honest he had some god complexity because we wouldn't stop talking about how smart he was.
Definitely sets his students up to fail. Exams look nothing like problems gone over in hw or lectures. Administers group exams because he is too lazy to grade. Accused my group of cheating; refused to show us any proof or discuss it with us. Gets very defensive when questioned about anything. Just avoid his classes altogether. Not worth your time.
I took his MATH140 course during fall 2020 and his class was definitely hard. Homework wasn't due but it was definitely helpful when taking the test. He is a hard grader on the test but it does seem like he doesn't always cover everything in his lectures which SUCKED but made it out alive with a B lol.
His lectures are not consistent with the homework or exams. This was a problem because I learned the material by watching other youtube videos that explained the material better but his exams said to use his techniques. If you struggle with math I dont recommend him.
Don't be like me. Don't take his class. Even if he's the only professor available, take the class at another college and then transfer the course back to Cerritos College. Don't say nobody warned you. Only 3 exams and it's nothing like the hw or lectures. Sigh there goes my gpa
He doesn't collect homework and allows you to group up for exams. His lectures much better than the textbook and as long as you take notes you should pass.
Professor Leon does not go through basics with the class and all of the workings he shows are incomplete. Highly would not recommend unless you have prior knowledge of Calculus. His exam are super difficult and he does not offer any extra credit, please take the class with another professor if you are taking it for a grade.
An honest review: don't take his course. You'll only be graded by three items 2 exams and 1 final. Took him in the summer and it was bad, all his videos were simple and short. Homework is not mandatory. Also, don't try to cheat cause he has all the bases covered. The test averages were around an F -> D range, and he doesn't curve.
Terrible. Took him over summer, and this professor did not post his lecture videos on time, and the schedule he gave us for the course did not match what we actually did. Entire grade based off 3 exams and you could work in groups, but our class average for the first 2 were D-F average and never got final exam grade (which was worth double).
Lecture heavy hard to follow. He likes group projects which makes no sense if you peers have no idea how to do the work. do not take for a short term semester. this class is good for someone who know the material and just needs to take it for credit.
Leon is a really good professor. He is amazing in his lectures but make sure you do the homework. Whenever I have a question, he is pretty quick to email back and never minds answering your questions.
Super friendly and extremely helpful when you need help. I asked a lot of questions on the homework on problems I couldn't figure out and that honestly helped me pass with an A. Also, I appreciate that he lets us work in groups for our exams, which is extremely helpful. The lectures are extremely helpful as well.
Prof. Leon has a great sense of humor & is always willing to help his students! but stay on top of the HW, since he doesn't collect HW, it can be more tempting to procrastinate, calc 3 can be a tough course. entire course grade is only from 4 exams & 1 final, but he lets students work in groups of up to 4 people on each exam, including the final :)
Great professor that assigns optional homework (do it!) and has interesting lectures. The course is graded only off of 3 tests and a final, all group tests. If you pay attention to lectures and do homework, you will do great, but if you don't, it will be a very tough class. Would recommend attending his office hours if you can.
Leon is a great lecturer, and gives out difficult exams. He expects you to know how to do everything covered, even sometimes the material being only found in the notes OR in the homework. No grade for homework, only exams. Curves exam grades if the class average goes up, so the first exams are to learn how to take his exams. Study HARD and pass.
Overall he's not a bad professor in any way. He teaches the concepts of the class in a way where you get it, but beware that you have to put in the hard work. The class is all based on tests and quizzes and even though we are assigned homework it has no part in your grade itself. To do good in the class you have to put in hours of outside studying.
Professor Leon's methodology for teaching trigonometry is certainly not for everyone; however, he's very honest about what students need to do in order to pass. From day one, he tells everyone to take meticulous notes, do all homework assignments, and even goes as far as pointing out specific topics from his lectures that will be on tests.
It is clear that Prof Leon holds preconceived notions about who belongs in his class. I was met with prejudice solely based on my age and ethnicity. As one of the few Latina women in the class, I was blatantly singled out for my age and forced to sit in a specific seat in front of the class. No student should feel unwelcome because of who they are.
Professor Leon was the worst math instructor I've encountered, even with a Bachelor's in math. His rudeness and arrogance stifled the learning environment, and condescending attitude made it challenging to engage with the material, resulting in a disappointing experience. Take anybody else for your own sake.
Success is dependent on your ability to do homework without it being graded (studying) and the group exams, which are your only grades (but it helps). Lectures are just large note-taking sessions. He doesn't tolerate you not doing the homework. Very much an exercise on discipline and self-learning. Set aside time for this class.
I don't know how anybody survived his class. Though he lets you work in groups and help each other, he tells you to only stick with the smart ones if you're smart because the lesser ones will drag your grades down, which I think is discriminative. Textbook is expensive, $300+, and he expects you to know everything before the class starts.
I do not recommend his class unless you are a "Human Calculator"
his entire grade is based off of 4 quizzes and 4 tests + a final exam. there is no homework grade yet he assigns 20 hours of homework per week. if you're trying to get an a run while you still can
Professor Leon's class is challenging, but if you stay engaged, take notes, and utilize resources like the textbook and Unstuckstudy for study prep, you can succeed. The exams are tough, but group work helps.
I took this course to fulfill a requirement at another university. The content was difficult but if you complete the homework on time and attend lecture, you'll be sufficiently prepared for the exams. And if you have questions on the material, make sure to take advantage of his office hours. He's very helpful and really cares about his students.
Professor Leon is good, but the class is though. To get good grades in his class, you need to put great time and efforts. My suggestion is reading the text book and question examples, doing the homework and reviewing lecture notes. His exam is group exam, it is very important for you to find good group members to get good grades.
Professor Leon has a lot of passion for his teaching. He gives out a lot of homework (not graded), but it is necessary in order to fully understand the concepts. Tests are difficult, but this *is* a class that you need to put a lot of study time into. His engaging lectures make it worthwhile in my opinion. Read the textbook and lecture notes.
THE best calculus professor and EASIEST I've ever taken (I struggled a lot with Calculus), he cares deeply about your grade, will help you as much as possible, his homework is not graded, but the last questions on the homework are the hardest and will most likely 99% of the time show up on the exam. Just study the last questions and you'll be set.
He's the goat bro rewords hard work so go to his class and work as hard as you can it will pay off unless ur classmates are cooked
Amazing professor! He is very sweet, especially when he knows you're trying your hardest. He is willing to help you no matter what, as long as you do YOUR part. Attend ALL lectures AND office hours, he may look intimidating at first, but he is very helpful. Also, be careful when picking groups, they can either help you or destroy your grade!!!
Loved Leon, he explains so well he almost never left me confused. There's grp tests and his office hours/review class day is helpful! All the tests are based off homework (+ reading the book) so make sure to do all the hw, has EC/other cool opportunities IF the class works hard, cracks jokes here and there to make lecture enjoyable too.
The sweetest professor ever he is so funny too. Your grade is entirely reliant on the 5 exams he gives. no homework and no quizzes. if he likes your group he may do quizzes or extra credit but dont rely on that hope. I am now taking calc 2 summer with him and im going to take calc 3 with him this fall :). Love this professor
A great professor who explains subjects well and is great at teaching how things work in calculus, rather than just giving formulas. The class grade is based on 4 tests and a final. Homework is optional. The tests were done in groups of up to 4. There's a textbook required for the homework, but it can be found on internet archive for free.
I heard a lot of bad things about this guy, so I expected the worst, but it went great. Your grade is dependent on exams that are "optionally" group focused. I recommend sticking to people you can study and practice problems with together. Reach out to Leon during office hours or email and he will be happy to explain anything. Overall, good class.
This professor is really strange. This is because sometimes he enjoys answering questions and other times he does not. He claims that some of his questions come from the lecture when in reality none of them do. Overall, try finding another professor to teach you!
