Unorganized
I just wrote the final and it was challenging. You really need to know your way around all of her stuff bc the questions are so algorithmic and NOT simple formula questions (well at least for the post-midterm material). Don't fool yourself; if the midterm was easy it's likely the final will be tough. REALLY I mean REALLY know your stuff.
I really honestly tried to keep up with Dr Sullan's lectures but she teaches sooo fast you end up so confused at the end of the lecture. On top of that she does not post slides before class which was a big pet peeve for me. She is very passionate and a very caring & kind person though, but I personally found struggled to understand/keep up.
Lectures are fast paced. Questions discussed in class and done for homework are incomparable to the final exam.
The final exam is soooooo difficult and not what we learned from the lectures. She didnt give hints on mastering chemistry and post formula sheet before exam. The worst prof!
Put emphasis on the most useless parts of the syllabus so you have two pages full of notes on batteries but two sentences on dry cells. She does not go through the practice questions in lecture as she should; she doesn't walk you through it, she tells you the steps and then says 'and that's your answer'. Office hours aren't helpful either.
Absolute worst, does not even care if her student do well. Made the midterm super easy and a brutal final! Everyone complained for a regrade does not care. Equations she mentioned would be on formula sheet was not and equations on sheet was not used. Horrible!
one word: awful
Exam was way harder than the examples given on slides. Didn't give any practice questions outside of the modules, which she didn't provide any hints for. She teaches fast and tells you to be "intuitive" when teaching how to solve a problem which isn't useful at all. You need to have known chemistry concepts before taking the course.
The pace at which she lectures and her accent makes it difficult for students to follow along. Her exam was also really hard.
Slides can be more informative.
She seems nice and friendly but she is the toughest grader and she is incapable of making a fair exam. Do not, under any circumstances, ever, take a course taught by her.
A TERRIBLE prof. Not only is she very difficult to understand, but for all the sample problems she said "this was pulled from a previous final exam!" or "this is an example of a hard question!" but they were WAYYY easier than the questions in the final. The final was crazy hard, the questions she asked were way beyond what we had learned.
Dr. Sullan gave a lot of opportunities to get extra credit in class, she did an optional quiz where you had to answer questions and get bonus points if you answered right, and an extra-credit paper. She's fair and tests straight from slides but had super high expectations. She would be such an amazing prof if she slowed down a little.
She is decent overall. Her lectures are great and she explains in a way that makes it easy for anyone to understand. The only thing that makes me paranoid is the final exam, which is absolutely horrendous. Thanks to that exam, I was exactly 1 mark away from that A grade I was hoping for...
So far from what I've seen her lectures give the bare bone basics on what she is teaching. I would have preferred examples that require work shown over multiple choice problems but that's probably just me. I'll probably update my rating once the exam has come and gone.
The final exam was too much even though if you prepared for it.
Final exam was unrealistically hard and very challenging no matter how prepared you may be
The course was divided into 2 modules. Module 2 was taught by Prof. Ruby Sullan. The first module was great since the prof is great. Module 2 though.... it's very very hard for me. Her lecture could be good, but her accent is very hard to understand. The test was very hard, much harder than what she taught. To anyone that got her class, good luck
dumbest prof ever. The exams sucked like the life she sucks out of you by the time you are done the class. If you have a chance, don't take her course. Thank god i didn't take her in class. Exam was super hard for no reason. even if you study you are not guarantied a high mark. please run if you see her.
The final exam will absolutely disintegrate anyone in its path. Whether you study or not, you will find it difficult and itll be so hard because you need to spend so much time to get it through but in the end youre constrained. Her timing may see logical, but once you go halfway, youll be like nani....
The final exam was completely ridiculous and had no relation to the content covered during lectures. Imagine taking an introductory chemistry course and getting a final exam question that asks you to find the determinant of a 10 by 10 matrix. THIS IS NOT AN OVER EXAGGERATION. Studying for a year still won't get you a 50 for the course.
The final exam was legit engineered to destroy the class average (as it was slightly high this year), except she WAY overdid it.
There's a time where my back end is still intact. NOT ANYMORE!!!!
all I have to say is no.
I now know what PTSD really feels like the word chemistry irritates my skin.
I think the website should be changed to allow a -100 just for this prof because of her unrealistic exams. She includes practice questions in lectures and says they are from a past exam. THIS IS STRAIGHT UP A LIE and a bigger scam than university tuition. For future students who are forced to take this course... MAY GOD HELP YOUR SOUL.
Horrible. the hardest exam I've ever had in my life. DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY IN HER CLASS. SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.
The final exam was absolute bs. I really thought I was prepared but that hit me in the face like a truck. Her lecture material is okay, but the final exam didn't even seem to be related to the content....
She is very unfair and unpleasant.
Yall just dont.
This was UNBELIEVABLE SOOOOOO UNFAIR please Im really gonna transfer
No amount of studying will prepare you for her exam unless you have 20+ years experience as a NASA engineer with a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Though she brings up practice questions (and claims it was from a past exam) during her lectures and gives out waayyy too much homework, none of that practice will actually be useful for the exam. None.
I can not even begin to say how horrible her final exam was. This exam had nothing to do with anything related to course content. Everything she said that would be on the exam was an absolute lie and a half. Unless you have to take this course, please stay away from her. You will save yourself from the trauma her exam gave all of us this year!
Her exam was brutal. Too many questions with not enough time. The questions were very outside the box. The images did not load and there was a mistake in one of the questions. The exam was nothing like her sample questions. Her mastering takes more than 2hrs to complete. There are a few mistakes in her solutions for the questions in her slides.
Miss girl really tried her hardest to fail the class. Dont take any classes with her... just simply run! Shes most probably laughing at our misery :)
she thinks shes something she isnt. someone needs to put her in her place.
Ever imagine what life is after death, well after going through this prof you would get a glimpse of the afterlife. This exam was mental torture. Rest in peace for my fallen classmates.
Run for the hills!!!! And if you think you ran far enough... keep running
Best teacher ever by a landslide. Class is a breeze especially her exams.
Her lectures a fine, but the sample questions have nothing to do with the exam. It was the hardest exam of my life. In the middle of it, I started sweating and questioning my whole career. That exam should be used as an interrogation technique.
I had read on here that she had hard exams, hard was definitely an understatement, excruciatingly painful would be a better way to describe it. She is really good at teaching, has lots of homework (that's too easy), and then BOOM, the hardest exam ever. It's impossible to do 50 chem questions in 3 hours especially when they have multiple parts.
BRUH let Me be straight with yall. U GONNA FAIL. Straight up Fail this term average was 46% u gonna fail. SHE is fine with lectures ( i guess i overall didn't enjoy them but they were ok) but the exam legit she thinking you applying for MCAT in gr 9 type level. Just trust me and pls don't take with this teacher
She is a good teacher in terms of explaining concepts. She explains things really well so I thought I was prepared for the exam. Alas, the questions on the exam were like 5000x harder than what practice/homework and there wasn't enough time to finish the exam. I had over 95 in the course before the exam, but now I'd be lucky if I get a 75.
her lectures are so easy and simple, but the exam deadly our avg was about a 40%
She has great lectures and teaches well in lectures but her exams are incredibly difficult . The practice questions that she gives in lectures are nothing like the exam
It must haunt her at night knowing that her students are doing well in her class. I would describe her as a villain just there to destroy people's GPA...
The first professor in this course (professor vozzny) is one of the best profs you can have. Then when the class switched to the second half with prof sullan everything went downhill. The lectures were of good quality and everything seems simple. I studied everything I could and still could barely answer 1 question on this exam. good luck!
No matter how much you study, you still won't do well on the exam. The exam is rigged and literally designed to make you fail. Literally don't take a class from this prof. Our class average is a 46%. And its not the students fault... the prof's lecture practice questions were so easy compared to the actual exam... theres no way to do well
The exam was crazy. That's it. Her "past exam questions" in her lectures are nothing like the actual exam. The difficulty of the actual questions did not compare and I have never written an exam this hard. The questions she does in lecture cover the bare minimum and do not prepare students for what will be seen on the final.
Our exam average was 46%. In a class size of over 800 students. The moral is, if you don't have to take a class with her, please don't. You will regret it. She is crushing people's GPA and dreams with her undoable exams. She really thinks that we have a Ph.D. in chem or smth to give us such a hard exam. That exam was a guessing game for me.
If you see her name as your course instructor on acorn DROP OUT!! Just trust me. You'll thank me later.
She is like Lorenzo Buffon in chma11. Instead of kicking the ball, she kicks you out of the school.
dont not take her class
Lectures were good but that exam was hell. I've had hard exams before but this was a different plane of existence compared to those. 3 hours of soul crushing torture that had very little in common with what she taught in class. Professor if you're reading this, sorry, but that was the worst experience of my school life ever.
Not sure what kind of thrill she gets out of failing students and destroying GPA's but she should seek help about that x
first of all no hate to prof. just a lot of hate towards the exam. hope she reads these and switches up cause I will cry for the students that have her
I am a very good student. Exam was 30% and I had a 100% in the rest of my course. The final exam will single-handedly bring my average down. The exam was so hard that I believe that I will lose my 4.0. Her practice questions, masteringchem, textbook, etc., I practiced everything and there was barely any question I knew. the class average was 46%.
Well she has two sides. As a teacher she is very nice and explains hard concepts well but as a professor her exam was painful. The hardest practice question u do in her course will be the easiest in exam. If u wanna save ur gpa drop out of acorn rn.
If you want a GPA higher than this profs rating, don't take a course with this prof.
She's good at explaining concepts but she'll also tell us to use our intuition and rationalize to get the in-lecture practice problems. Not much help when you don't have previous knowledge on her content. I was doing well in the course up until her deadly final! Do extremely well in the first half with Prof Voznyy if you want a decent final grade.
I dropped from a 92 to 75 thanks to this exam, studied really hard for it too
Had for CHMA11 and you know how that went lmao. But this course was so much better than A11 - lectures felt the same where she explained everything well but was bit boring at times. Midterm and exams were super fair which was surprising tbh, though most of us felt that there wasn't enough time to complete the exam. Achieve q's are a good study tool
Had her for both chma11 and chmb16. CHMB16 was a lot better and you can tell she really likes analytical chemistry. sometimes her lectures can get confusing but she is a really sweet professor. If you have her for either chmb16 or chma11 you will be okay, just ask if you need help and she will offer support (she replies to emails very fast).
I have nothing to hate about this professor, in fact, she is very caring about her students. Although the contents during the lectures are pretty difficult, she is very patient and explains clearly. Also, her tests are difficult, as long as you understand EVERYTHING she says in the lecture and know how to apply them, you should be fine.
Just so unnecessarily hard. Run from her as fast as you can
This professor has a bad rep but she has changed in the past year and is now amazing ! Her lectures are super engaging and she gives so many hints as to what to expect on exams. I would definitely recommend taking her class . If you pay attention during lecture and complete the homework you will be fine in this class
I've read so many scary reviews of this prof and especially her final exam, BUT!! She is not that awful! Don't overstress yourself! Her lecture contents are heavy and sometimes hard to understand, but IMO, the exam was not easy but also not a horror. You have to practice to get a decent grade.
By far one of the worst professors at UTSC. Run as far away from her as possible. She gives horrible lectures and has the hardest exams that hardly relate to anything she teaches
RUN RUN RUN!!!!! Going into this course most people were scoring decently well, but this final exam was the biggest smack to the face. Think of getting smacked around by a UFC fighter and getting your faced smashed in, that was the equivalent to this final. I Studied so much for this exam and it was still extreme difficulty. GPA down the drain.
we get ten super easy questions on the final...but then the train hits you on some of the medium questions and then you just want to unalive urself for the hard questions. exam is freaking hell. might as well not practice because u will fail anyway! got near 100s on both midterms and still... GOODBYE 4.0 GPA!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. IT IS SO HARD FOR NO REASON WITH NO SUPPORT FROM RUBY
By far the hardest exam I've ever taken. 50 questions in 3 hours, when normally it's 20 questions in 2 hours. Not like it got easier to compensate either. Take this course if it's a prerequisite over the summer if you're able to. That prof is much easier.
The midterms were alright but the final was like an elder ring boss coked up on steroids or trying to 1v5 in Valorant as a silver vs immortals while flip resetting triple musty stalling off the celling in rocket league. Had to over 30% on the exam despite studying all of the lecture materials practice problems and clutchprep homework. Beware...
Her exams are way too hard and she's not even a good prof! It would be acceptable if the exams are hard and she was a good prof, but NO! She rushes everything and I end up not understanding anything. The 1/5 rating is a lie, I would give her a -10000000/5 rating
Final was horrible, rushes through the lecture material and the hard questions she went through are nothing like the final exam ones.
there's no point into practicing. u will fail, i promise.
midterms were doable, but the final was unforgivably brutal. She seems to be a very nice professor during lectures, but hell nah she really ruined everyone's gpa. Happy to say that one thing I genuinely learned is to avoid taking any courses with her, otherwise your dreams would be shattered.
I have nothing against Sullan as a person. She appears kind, capable of giving quality lectures. However, being a CHMA11 student, you are quick to realize her horrid testing style. Prof Sullan gave her students the most complex, repulsive and outright rancid exam I have ever come across. I do not understand what she achieves by failing her students
Professor Sullan seems to be to nice individual, but in terms of the final exam, I was surprised about the high level of difficulty in solving the majority of questions in a limited amount of time. It really hurts to work so hard throughout the semester just to have a single exam skew your GPA.
Despite what many other people on this website claim, the final exam was actually relatively easy if you spent a little bit of time studying about it. I just did the exam today and walked out of the room feeling pretty confident in my abilities. You are well prepared from class lectures prior.
CHMA11 is a course people take in first year as a requirement to get into their desired program, so its not fair of us to tell you to drop this course because its difficult. Ruby is a great lecturer and whether youre online or in person, I really recommend you keep up with the content in real time in order to do well on the final.
A really nice person who had great lectures but her exam was hard.
If you want a glimpse of hell then just write the chma11 exam. Even if you go through half of it you will taste hell.
I 2x'ed my lectures, though it's worth attending them live. The final was a beast. I only finished in time because I knew the content inside out and practiced all the suggested problems and some cumulative textbook problems. "Do I see myself pursuing chemistry in future years?" is a question you'll know how to answer after taking the final. GL
EXAM VERY VERY HARD, YOU SHOULD DROP THIS COURSE AND TAKE IT WITH A DIFFERENT PROF TO SAVE YOUR GPA! The midterms were easy BUT THE EXAM tho, so better run to save your gpa.
She could explain the concepts clearly, but the final exam questions were extremely hard. Although many questions weren't unsolvable, there wasn't enough time to complete them. Make sure you focus on the applications of the concepts. I understand it's hard to be both grad studs. and a pro, overall, she is improving and is very responsible.
She explains concepts thoroughly in lectures and she answers everyone's questions. I think she really cares about her students and she wants us to actually learn the concepts. Just understand the lecture examples and do some extra practice problems and you'll be fine.
It's impossible to finish the amount or the type of questions she expects us to finish in the given time frame. I would not say that we did not know how to solve the questions in the exams. It's just that the type of questions she put in required a lot of work and in the given time frame, it was just impossible.
Okay, so I really did enjoy Professor Sullan's lectures and how she explains the content given. I have to give her credits to be able to thoroughly explain the difficult content. However, the final was very difficult to complete in the given time frame even have studied the course content. If you take this course, just be ready to practice!!
Prof Ruby is an amazing professor when it comes to teaching difficult content and answering students' questions. Her midterm was quite doable as well; however, her final was something else. She tested us on both speed and knwoelege but the practice she gave us was definitely not enough for the type of questions we were tested on. Good luck :)
If yall ever see this course and you dont need it, better run away cause this course is gonna haunt you in your dreams. More so the exam.
The exam took my sleep and peace away
Great lectures, she was able to explain the concepts clearly. But that is where the greatness ends. Prof Sullan has extremely difficult exams. The final was very hard with a lot of questions, which almost made it impossible. Recommend doing well on the parts that Prof Vozznyy to pass the course.
Take it and don't look back. exam was legitimate hell and I wish that no one ever experiences this twice. lectures were ok, nothing special. THANK GOD this exam was multiple choice because at least you have a raw probability of getting 25% :). Ruby has ruined chemistry for me, this is my last chemistry course of undergrad. Good luck to you.
She is extremely nice but her rep for hard exams is really bad. This year our final marks were mixed/messed up even though we got them 2 weeks after our exams (a week later than the deadline). Its unfair towards students. We are STILL waiting for the correct marks. It is currently May 1st and the exam was written April 14th.
I have nothing against Prof Sullan as a person but oh boy. As a prof, this course went downhill right after the first half. Not only was the exam hard like HARD as in it had stuff i never heard of but the marks took forever to be released and still had wrong marks for some people. Bitter experience
Run away from Ruby as fast as you can. By far the worst class I have ever taken
Beware of her exams. They are nothing like what she teaches and does not prepare you well for the exam
She is actually a really good Prof. She is very articulate and active. Her lectures are easier to follow as compared to Prof Vozny's. However, the exams do get a lil harder as one gets through the term. I recommend doing a lot of practice questions. Don't go in with a negative preconceived notion. She's not as bad as some students say.
previous chma11 student here - that exam still haunts me in my dreams and i am crying for yall that have to take this course (first part aint bad but the rest takes you down the deepest depths of hell)
Don't let the bad reviews get to you. Ruby is a very kind and caring prof. Her lectures are engaging and she is an articulate lecturer. If you study for the exam and understand the concepts, you won't do bad :). Her questions are more application-based, and if you need help she will try her very best to make sure you understand
Her accent is very difficult to understand and she doesn't try to clarify what she says. She teaches at her own pace, indifferent to whether or not the students can keep up and doesn't bother checking in with them to see if they are on the same page. She doesn't give any breaks and the questions done in lectures were also different from the exam.
Prepare to fail!!! this exam will haunt you for the rest of your life and no I'm not exaggerating. Good luck :)
that exam was something else like some of the questions were from lectures, and some of it was just if you know you know, if you don't then you don't. Just learn stuff comprehensively, you might be fine.
Her lectures are iffy, but if you put in the time you'll do well. Also all these people are blaming Ruby for failing when the content itself is hard and they studied like 2 days - 1 week before the exam. The exam wasn't horrible, 80-90% was easy, the other 10% was difficult. Do the textbook and lecture problems, even put in some extra work. .
Incredibly difficult exam.
Has yet to respond to two emails that I have sent. It has been 2 months. Exam was terrible and her teaching was unacceptable. They need to find a replacement.
Considering how little I studied for her exam it wasn't THAT bad. She isn't the easiest prof but it's not impossible to do well. If you put in the time and effort you'll be fine.
She's great at lectures. She makes sure you thoroughly understand the material. The final exam, like previous exams were hard, but not impossible. As long as you did enough textbook questions and truly understood the concepts in class, you should be able to get a good grade.
Her lectures were okay. Really important to attend for the mid-lecture practice questions. Some of those were on the online midterm. We had an opportunity to receive an additional 6% on our final through some online practice questions. Final was curved 4% (10% with the EC). Final was absolutely brutal and very low average. Had a 90 before the final
Prof Sullan's lectures are excellent; she explains concepts clearly & her slides are detailed/easy to follow. She provides a lot of practice questions in lecture & recommends specific textbook questions. Keep up with/understand the material and you will do great. I don't understand all the bad reviews, Ruby is a really sweet lady and a great prof.
Her lectures are actually not that bad and pretty easy to understand, she also includes practice questions in the lectures which actually help. Most of the bad reviews are because the final exam is harder than the practice questions gone over in the lecture, and all of the multiple choice options in the final exam will try to trick you. Do homework
wow just dont take it
by far the worst teacher you can have makes the simplest concepts hard for no reason
dificult
She is an excellent professor. She is very engaging and interacts with her students a lot during lectures. She puts in effort to remember the names of many students and often checks in to make sure everyone is following during lectures. It was very helpful how her lectures included going through many practice problems comprehensively.
Beware of the final exam. Her midterm is alright, you can prepare for that. Her final is an academic terror. The questions are nothing like the ones she practices with you in lecture. Looking at the final exam makes you really question why you would want continue in the field of chemistry.
Horrible. Her final exam was absolutely horrible, the questions on the exam were way harder than her example questions she provided. I would be shocked if more than half the class was able to even pass it. Try to avoid this prof at all costs, I hear the other ones arn't as bad. T
get ready for the final before starting the course. just don't take the course and wait for an other time
The final is a true pain for this prof
Just completed the last exam, and I'm utterly speechless. Despite thorough preparation, the final exam questions seemed entirely unfamiliar. They were more challenging than anything encountered in the textbook or practice questions in her slides. I strongly advise against taking this course unless absolutely necessary.
Took this course in winter 2023. The final exam was difficult, but you could get a good grade if you understood the lecture material and did many practice problems. She gave many opportunities for bonus points: participation in class, and Alta (homework questions that gave +6% on the final for completion). She cares about her students.
One of the worst tests I've written so far at UTSC. Ruby derives pleasure in seeing her students fail her course hence the final exam being extremely difficult.
WORST PROF IN THE WHOLE UNI!!!! MAKES THE WORST EXAMS AND ACTUALLY WANTS ALL STUDENTS TO FAIL!!!! AVOID THIS PROF AT ALL TIMES TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!! EXAMS ARE HORRENDOUSLY IMPOSSIBLE, THE QUESTIONS ARE NOT BASED ON HER LECTURES OR THE TEXTBOOK AND YOU WILL FAIL!!!!! WORST NIGHTMARE!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH RUBY SHE'LL RUIN YOUR LIFE LIKE SHE DID WITH MINES! THE FINAL WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS. DO NOT TAKE IT UNLESS YOU WANT A LOW GPA
This was the worst exam I've taken in my whole life. I was warned by several students about how bad her finals are but somehow she managed to SURPASS my already horrible expectations. The questions were incomprehensible. Praying for her future students. My condolences
Difficult final exam.
Read her reviews before I met her, and was surprised by the bad comments considering she seems like a nice person. I TAKE THAT BACK COMPLETELY. That final... ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! NO CORRELATION TO ANY OF HER PRACTISE PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER! I won't be surprised if over half the class fails. What kind of prof wants to see her students fail?!?
Just finished the final exam a few days ago, and I still get nightmares after it. The exam was extremely difficult, not related to any practice questions she did in lectures. Think carefully before doing this course if you want to maintain your mental health and GPA :)
Ruby is a nice lady, but her exams are insane. There is barely any room for improvement, which is worse considering how the difficulty of her exams do not reflect the difficulty of her problem sets, lecture questions, or textbook questions. No amount of studying will prepare you for the final. If she's teaching a class, don't take it.
She doesn't care at all whether you understand in lectures, and merely tells us to review the material later if you don't understand her explanations. The exam was a living hell, no amount of practice will prepare you for it. I didn't even know chemistry could be this hard, as I did well in last semester's chemistry finishing with an A+.
She's nice, but that's about her only redeeming factor. Her teaching is shoddy at best and she teaches far too fast. The exam was absurdly difficult and genuinely felt like guesswork as the problems were incomprehensible. Don't bother using old exams as practice, they're nothing like the exam she gave us and were much easier.
Final exam had me absolutely done for, have no clue where she pulled those questions from. Only 1 question was like the practice final
Absolutely NOTHING can prepare you for what's to come in the final. It was extremely difficult and discouraging. If you must take this course, do your best in the lab component and all the graded assignments prior to the final. If you wait until the final for a chance to boost your grade, you will very be disappointed. Good luck, you'll need it!
Worst prof I've had so far in university. If you can, avoid her at all costs unless you want your GPA to drop. I don't think I will have a good CGPA after this chem grade comes out. Teaching is so bad and voice so annoying I would rather listen to a 12 year old teach.
Guaranteed 3-4 practice problems that she explains will be up there. Other than that, she's nice and approachable, lectures are good, but does not reflect final exam. Many people that give good reviews say "learn comprehensively" but again, easier said that done. Will most likely be a difficult class if you aren't amazing at chem.
That final exam will forever traumatize me. I suggest you take this course in the summer with a different professor OR try your best to do good in the lab component and essay assignment. Good luck and wish you all the best.
She's a very fast lecturer, she advises us to rewatch the lectures at home and slow it down - her exam wasn't really close to the practice questions and my mark dropped approx 10% after the final...in my opinion she didn't explain some of her process to arrive at an answer clearly. I'd advise practicing what is learnt every day to stay on top of it
The final exam was difficult HOWEVER it was not impossible. There are so many reviews here that may cause you to have debilitating fear however if you truly study-- the exam is NOT as difficult as people say. Don't give up on studying thinking that no matter what you do her exam is impossible as it is not. It really is fair if you study alot.
The final exam is doable if you truly know the material (AND THE FORMULAS). There are a mix of easy, difficult, and tricky questions. Some question are tricky but once you got the trick, (i.e. looking at the equation and determine whether to use full or part of it) you'll be fine. For the record, I received 70's on both my term test and the essay.
Run. She's the GPA killer. I had an A in CHMA10 and nothing could've prepared me for her hell. I have never hated a professor this much in my life. I repeat RUN. If you can avoid her please do it (I could not) I don't understand how she is allowed to teach. The midterm average was 43% and according to her that's a good average... idk how I survived
She is a genuinely good professor whose lectures were pretty nice and to the point. She does go a bit fast but all lectures are posted. However, the lectures did not prepare you for the final which was very tough, but it was still doable considering if you were able to do textbook questions. Your best bet for her class is to attend office hours.
Professor Ruby Sullan's lectures are fast paced but she provides a detailed explanation and multiple practice questions for the exam. However, the questions on the midterm and final exam were almost (if not) completely different from what she gave us. The exam is not 100% undoable. I spent a week goggling random questions so the exam was okay.
Lectures make you think the content is fair until you go to her exams and realize you haven't seen half the stuff on it and not for a lack of trying. Studied the lectures and textbook, did practice questions and was so lost on the final. Made to be impossible. Avoid her at all costs- you learn nothing and your gpa drops.
The final exam was a real challenge, but if you study hard and utilize resources like unstuck ai, you can do well. Professor Ruby's teaching style takes some getting used to, but the course material is manageable with dedication. Take advantage of the lab component and essay to boost your grade.
The worst chemistry professor I have ever had in university. She rushes through lectures without regard for the students' understanding of the material. Tests and exams contain material that wasn't even taught in class. Don't take her course if you don't have to.
The finals is nothing like she makes it seem especially in terms of difficulty. Just don't
