Professor Vohra was a great Professor. I would definitley take her again. She was very clear and is great at teaching. One of the best professors I ever had.
I actually really liked Prof. Vohra. She was super nice and really cared about the students. I found the HW and exams to be doable. I would definitely take another class with her again.
Instructor Vohra has clear guidelines and knows her stuff. She is flexible time-wise with due dates and she is very understanding. Show that you are putting in the work and learning from the experience and you will have a blast!
Prof. Vohra was amazing! Planning on taking the rest of the BIT classes with her.
EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! Legit she teaches you the material without it being stressful.
After taking 142 with Mike I was ready to change major paths, but Rubyna's class reminded me why I love CS! Her lectures are very detailed, and she is always available to answer questions and help out in any way. Her exams ARE handwritten but you get a REALLY good idea of the questions from her exam reviews!! Very dedicated, caring, and passionate!
I too took 142 with Mike Panitz and walked away with a bad experience. Luckily I took Rubyna and walked away with a great experience. She's very kind and understanding. If she sees that you're struggling she'll go out of her way to make sure you understand. She emphasizes group work which is always important for coding classes.
The BIT 143 class is honestly the worst online class that I have ever taken. This teacher has no structure to her class. Taking the online class with her is like taking a class without a professor at all. All that is provided are ppts as lecture but they have no information on them. The assignments have no rubric and we are not taught how to it.
Great Professor! She is honestly one of the best at Cascadia. Her exams are clear and assignments are fun! Her assignments are what she teaches in her PPT's and no surprises. She is a great instructor.
Prof. Ruby is awesome. I love her. She is one of the best. I took BIT 115, 142, and 143 with her. Really is a great instructor.
Amazing. Easy class and got a good grade with this prof.
One of the best, no bad things about the class or the professor.
VERY HARD!
Took her BIT 143 online after failing with Panitz. She has considerably fewer assignments and they are fairly easy. However I would have failed if I hadn't already taken this class before and knew the material because there's ZERO instruction. Only thing you have to go by are almost bare powerpoints that should have some lecture to go with it.
Rubyna is great! The class was one of the best online classes I ever took.
Awesome teacher. I had her for BIT 115, 142, and 143 all online. Super nice and loves to help. Extremely flexible and willing to go out of her way to help you :)
Honestly the best at cascadia college. Nothing bad to say about her.
Nice prof. Kind and helpful. Class is structured well
I loved her! Best online class ever taken.
Good professor. Cares alot about student. Very welcoming.
I liked her. She was nice and I got a good grade.
Good class and good prof. No complaints
I taken BIT 115 and 142 and 143 with Prof. Vohra. Shes the best.
I wish i could take every class with her. She is so smart and helpful.
She really values every person's opinion and teaches the material in a clear and easy to understand way. Amazing person
I took BIT 115 with her and BIT 142. I really like her teaching style. I am taking BIT 143 with her next quarter. She is very kind.
really cares about students and wants you to succeed. Really understanding too.
One of the best instructors I've had in my entire college experience.
Professor Vohra is an outstanding professor! She is always willing to help and explains any concepts very thoroughly for her students. I would highly recommend her! She is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. She made learning the material fun and extremely understandable.
Shes one of the best instructor at Cascade College. I never had any experience with coding before but when I took this class it was very easy to understand and apply. This professor is the way to go if your a beginner and slowly wants to understand the concepts/language of the coding.
This class is an easy A. She doesn't assign much homework and there are only a few assignments in the entire quarter. All the instruction she gives you is from a power point for an in person class. She does care about you passing though but that being said, I wouldn't recommend this professor if your looking to actually major in computer science.
I loved Prof Vohra. I actually learned a lot from her class and plan on taking BIT143 with her!
This class was amazing! It was just the right amount of challenge for someone new to coding and the materials were super clear. She is also quick to respond to emails.
Rubyna is one of the most caring and kind professors I ever had. She really listens to you when your situation is different and very accommodating. She really does care for her students.
Amazing class.
Nice prof and nice class. Would recommend.
I was actually really nervous taking an online class during COVID but after taking prof. Ruby's class I actually think her ONLINE classes are better than in person classes.
Ruby is great, I took an in person class with her and loved it so I decided to take an online class. Best class during my COVID remote learning. Her office hours are amazing as well.
The class is very easy, just make sure you do the assignments, and it's an easy 4.0. That being said, if you're looking to actually learn something this isn't the class for you. The professor put little to zero effort into the slides and assignments. There's a 1 hour office hour that is shared with BIT 143 if you're looking to ask her questions.
This professor is very lazy and puts in very very little effort into the online class. Some of her lectures are copied from the internet. Her group project and exams literally asks you to make and answer your own questions. I don't think she even looks at what students submit. Take another professor if you really want to learn something.
I was going through a hard time during COVID and this pandemic and believe me when I tell you that I have NEVER met a more caring and understanding person than Rubyna. Not only did she help me pass the class with flying colors but she helped me get through the pandemic.
Office hours are fun and she makes the class interesting. I like this professor.
Do yourself a favor and take this professor. Thank me later.
Took the whole programming series with her. Love her. She's amazing.
Great prof! Respected at Cascadia college .
I like this class.
OMG! Words cannot begin to describe prof Vohra! She is by far one of the best professors I've ever had throughout my time at Cascadia. Her passion for the subject really helped this class more enjoyable and engaging. For anyone who's looking to take a class that will help you gain a bit of coding experience, HIGHLY recommend prof V! She's amazing!
Professor Vohra's passion for teaching in this class really shows since the lectures were enjoyable! They were clear and easy to understand. As for homework and exams, she is even lenient on due dates since she would prefer students to work at their own pace. If you are interested and new into coding, I strongly recommend to take her class!
This professor is just lazy and inconsiderate. Exams do not correlate with lectures. The criteria for assignments is unclear most of the time. Seems like she is doing less than the bare minimum to teach and help the students pass. I dont even think she reviews the students submissions honestly. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
Awesome!
I really resonated with this prof. She is super kind.
Many of my friends took her class and I'm glad I did the same. I took the whole BIT series with her.
She teaches in the evening but it's so worth going out of your way to take her class. I felt like I was learning without the stress. Truly a gem of a professor.
She helped me get into the Computer Science major at UW. Such a great professor.
She's a very nice person. Assignments were pretty easy. So were the exams. Very reachable outside the classroom and is very willing to help. This should be an easy A class. However, I did felt that this class does not really prepared me well for 143 (but maybe it's because i took it in summer quarter so class was shorter).
Very good professor and wants the best for students. Made sure students got the support they needed even if classwork and assignments were minimal. Almost no outside of class work. Exams are only worth 20-30% and the other 70 is mainly based on the 4 assignments through the quarter.
She's a great teacher that understands the circumstances of students. She involves the students a lot with group projects, which made it easy to create a nice and comfortable environment!
Class was awful and an absolute joke. It's an easy 4.0 and that's the only good thing. Highly disorganized. No rubrics/grading criteria for projects. No feedback on projects. Grades things in random spurts, so you can go a month or more without any grading happening. Takes a week or more to respond to emails. Does not show up to her office hours.
Easy A, but you basically have to teach yourself because she does the bare minimum as a teacher. Goes through slideshows really quickly then you are sent to do the homework on your own. Homework was ok, but some tasks were pretty difficult because you are barely taught. She takes forever to respond to emails and isn't thorough with instructions.
Very unresponsive, would go a week minimum before responding to emails for clarification, and sometimes gave out different answers for the same question. The class was still easy as long as submitted everything.
Great professor. I am taking her for 143 next quarter. Learning programming is fun with her.
Nice and good professor
Frankly speaking, the best comp sci instructor I ever had. She is nice and helpful. She really knows how to teach others in a nonstressful environment.
I took her evening class and it was worth it. I am glad I had her as my Intro to Programming professor.
She really works with you to ensure you get the most out of her class. Approachable and willing to work with her students.
Professor Rubyna is SO awesome. I highly recommend taking her class. She explains things well, helps students whenever they need it, and checks in with groups to make sure everyone understands the material. We do lots of group work and get into groups every class, either online or in person. It's fun!
If you want an easy A, then take this class. However, I don't know a single thing about coding after completing this course. I didn't really understand the assignments and Prof Ruby didn't really care to explain. Class time was spent quickly clicking through a slideshow and then doing homework.
She was really caring and really wanted the students to succeed. Her office hours are fun and informational.
Loved her class. Recommended all of my CS buddies to take her programming series.
She gives great advice about industry and how to navigate ones career in comp sci. Great mentor.
She really helped me get in UWB's computer science program.
Didn't teach anything in the class, graded assignments twice during the whole quarter. Barely learned anything, only takeaway was that professors can be really lazy and not be punished for it. Didn't have a syllabus, changed her speech each time when asking her policies for the class. The least amount of communication. Amazing.
Currently taking for data structures took her for IT-CS142 intermediate and she gives great feedback. She makes it clear that you can come in for office hours if needed given that it's an asynchronous class some people didn't put in the extra time which is on them and not her I'm defending her because she's only been a kind caring teacher to me
I took 115 with Mike Panitz first and ended up retaking this class with Prof. Ruby. 10x better lectures, assignments and exams. Definitely take Prof. Ruby class.
I took the entire programming series with this professor. She goes out of her way to ensure that you are grasping the material. She even helped me with my college application for the comp sci program admission and I got in!
I heard a lot of great things about this professor. She's one of the best in the comp sci department. I even waited a quarter to specifically take this class with her. It was worth it, one of the best STEM classes I took in Cascadia College.
Just register for her class. You'll thank me later.
I took both cs142 and cs143 with Ruby an and she has been an AMAZING professor. I highly recommend she genuinely cares about her students and consistently gives feedback on assignments
Doesn't have her own material, don't know how people are claiming she has better material than Prof Mike. Materials from 2018, no obvious syllabus, full of lies. Not sure how she's helpful if she is never there for the office hours she claims to have and no emails. Possibly the worst I've had. If you alr know how to code take her class for easy 4.0
Oh god. It was a disaster to say the least. Please don't take her class youll regret spending tuition here and learning how to lie and manipulate students seems like she had people write good ratings on here but if she has another full time job at Tmobile how is she teaching? She isnt.
I had zero CS experience coming in and didn't feel lost. She explains things slowly and doesn't assume you already know everything. She didn't make me feel dumb.
Prof. Ruby focuses a lot on why things work, not just how. She explains problem solving really well. It was confusing at first but made later assignments easier. I recommend her.
Nice and I am taking next class with her too.
She helped me get into the computer science major at UW. Really nice and helpful.
The only good professor in the comp sci department at Cascadia.
