Lectures are very interesting with a lot of visuals to help keep lecture interesting. however tests can be very hard. not simply memorization, but a lot of concept questions. requires a lot of hard studying to pull off an A on the test. Overall, one of the best Profs i've had at UWEC. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!!!!

Dr. Buiser is an awesome teacher... I know others have said it but he really knows his stuff.... His tests are unspeakably hard... You have to know everything and then some. Not a class that you can easily ace... Seems to be the class to weed people out of science majors... But, you learn lots and it will be helpful in the long run!Good Luck!

Prof. Buiser is one of the nicest teachers I've had. I liked his teaching style and his lectures were well planned in advance and informative(though he forgets overheads a lot). His tests are impossible to ace though even if you know your stuff, he'll always get you with a tricky question.

Dr. Buiser is one of the best profs I've ever had. He knows his stuff. ALWAYS willing to answer questions. He also schedules review sessions before each tests which helps a lot if you have any last questions. His tests are crazy/hard but thats b/c he wants you to be successful later in life. The class is very interesting; Dr. Buiser is one of the best professors that I have had. His tests are really difficult if you dont study alot and understand the material. You actually feel like you learned something and can understand tough subjects after you take this class; be prepared to work though.

Although the course is too detailed for a 100 level course for ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS, Dr. Buiser does a nice job of getting the information across in a clear and concise manner. His tests are challenging, but if you study your lectures notes, you will do fine. He holds helpful review sessions and is very enthusiastic about what he's teaching.

As the others comment, this class is tough but so helpful. I was given tons of statistics on diseases and abuse of antibiotics, which was so cool. Beware of his test. He tricks your mind with imaginary stories full of twist and turn. He let you know precisely what to study but it is not at all make his tests easier.

this class was EVIL but i love professor buiser, hes so helpful and possibly the nicest teacher on campus, hell always say hi and is a little ray of sunshine ALL THE TIME. (yes its a bit weird). he must drink more coffe than any person alive because he always has time and energy to help you and the lectures are very interesting!

Dr. Buiser is very intelligent and very nice. He will answer all your questions and as long as you actively learn the material instead of just memorizing it the tests will be managable. He is so helpful he actually answered a question of mine from a different class even though he was on his way to the bathroom!

Excellent Professor. Teaches you to actually learn and not memorize. Tests are not comprehensive on the surface, however the material and his teaching method inherently are. He is patient, helpful and available for students having a hard time. Use study groups and quiz each other constantly. Expect his classes to be "weed out" classes.

Like everything that has already been said, he is a very good professor and yes, the tests do require you to know the stuff but all it takes is some studying a couple of days in advance.

Bio 111 was by far the hardest class i've ever taken!! The tests are impossible, but if you must take it, take it with Buiser! He is super funny and has tons of energy. I have no problem paying attention in class and if i had half the energy he had, I would be set!

It may be quite a bit tough for most people especially non-biology majors, but he's fair and material is all up to date and clear cut. Be sure to know what he would like to test on and hold the main point. He is nice and willing to help. It is a good class for GE requirment and the time is okay for apring semester.

This was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken. However, Dr. Buiser was the best professor I have had at the same time. In a class of 200 or so, he could remember anyone's name! The guy is crazy smart, helpful, and he obviously loves what he's doing. If you have to take this class, make sure you take it with Buiser!

Prof Buiser is one of the best professors I've had. He is very enthusiastic about the subject and is so knowledgeable. The dude's a machine. Professor Buiser was fantastic. He is very clear in his teaching and very helpful. His tests were easy IF you UNDERSTOOD the material and not just memorized it. Biology and Science is all about understanding concepts, not memorizing. Those on here that complain his test are too hard obviously memorized and did not understand. Highly reccommended!

Biotech. Buiser may be a difficult prof for intro biology or cell bio, but for biotech he's a breeze! He wrote the text book, so you don't need to read it - he covers everything in lecture! His exams are pretty easy if you study a bit for them. And he's super energetic! Bounces around all over the place! Great prof!

Hardest class I've ever taken. It is taught like an upper level or graduate level class. The info given in class is just the tip of the iceberg of what you need to know for tests. Study guides are often unhelpful. Nicest guy personally I've ever met though. He will really try to help you out if you ask for it. Attendness Mandatory to pass!

Bio 111 is a very difficult class. Attendence/Manditory in order to pass the class. Dr. Buiser is an incredibly nice guy and absolutely brilliant, very very smart. A introductory "weeder" course. Unfit bio minors/majors will be weeded out. A MUST STUDY course, exams are very difficult. You WILL NOT pass if you DO NOT study.

111 is a difficult class. Buiser sends out his powerpoints, which are extremely helpful if you fill them in. Study hard, you will not pass if you don't take a lot of time out of your week to do so. His office is always open for questions. He keeps you awake in class and encourages questions. He's a nice guy, too. I'd take this class again.

Bio 111 is an extremely difficult class, so don't expect to skip classes (even though they aren't mandatory) Buiser is very smart, but it is helpful to have a recorder at lectures because the content is so in depth and complicated.

Buiser is a really sweet guy and cares incorporates humor into his teachings. The only problem is...he's too smart! It's hard to comprehend the material sometimes because he isn't able to "dumb it down." Tests are hard, and labs are mandatory if you want to do well.

Great teacher! The material in this class was easy for me, but his tests are really in depth. He's an awesome teacher though, he makes sure everyone understands things and he does review sessions for all tests and lab midterms. I would suggest doing all the study guides and going to the review if you want to get a good grade.

Not an easy class, but Buiser is clear in lecture about the material that will be on the test. He explicitly uses related vocabulary to help you understand processes. He will always answer questions (lecture and office hours). Test's are hard, but not impossible. You need to know the material well and apply it. Text rarely used (may be helpful tho)

Buiser is probably one of the smartest profs on campus. That being said his class tends to be difficult. You actually have to study and not cram, he's a great professour and his classes will make you better at the material, whether of not you get a good grade.

The no. 1 thing you should know coming into this class is DO NOT underestimate the 1st exam. It's probably the easiest, however, a lot of people seemed to fail it. Just because it's multiple choice does not mean it is going to be easy, expecially the way he words ?'s. Study using his lecture notes, I never used the book once and managed to get a B.

This class can be real easy once you get what he wants from you on an exam. The wording on exams is super difficult and you are going to have to literally break questions down to make sure you know what he wants. But once you get used to it it's a piece of cake! Hope to get an A- this semester.

This class is really hard at first but you just need to be willing to go to the SI sessions and to his office hours. He is very helpful and makes sure he answers all of your questions until you fully understand what is going on! He repeats things a lot so you have time to write it down, and tells you what is really important to remember (everything). Adds humor to the lecture when he can. This class was RIDICULOUSLY hard for a 100 level course. Expect a ton of work and to study like crazy and still not get very good exam scores. He is the nicest guy ever and a good teacher and somehow learns everyone's names. But, he's too smart for a low level course and crams too much into the semeser. HARD CLASS.

Overall I liked the class. The notes were helpful, and fairly easy to understand. However, the tests really made you think. For the tests, he only relies on the notes that he gives out, so there is no need to read the book at all.

Hey, he is difficult. But if you study, you should be fine. He does curve the grade a bit at the end. This class needs AT LEAST 6 hours a week of studying. Lectures are done the best way for a difficult class. Really isn't that hard he will ask questions that may seem tricky but as long as you know the stuff it's not tricky at all. Professor Buiser was good at teaching, but his style of test questions is very difficult. I couldn't take off one day on a weekend from studying because there was so much content in Bio 221 and the tests were packed with a ton of information.

I found his class very difficult, but WOW is he a great professor. He has slides for every lecture that you can print out and take notes on. He learns your name after hearing it twice. Every time I went into his office hours he was a great help. He talks pretty fast so make sure you're paying attention, I record all his lectures.

Hardest class I have ever taken! Came in ready as a biology major but by the end of the semester switched! He knows what he is talking about but makes his tests super hard. He makes you critically think and analyze every question with only 50 minutes to take the test. I put in so much time and still did badly. Wouldn't take again!

Dr. Buiser is by far the best professor UWEC has!! I absolutely love him. His classes are extremely difficult but so informative. His exams will be probably the most difficult exams you will ever take. This online cell bio class was wonderful because his narrated powerpoint slides were really easy to follow along with and nice to go back to review.
