Super Easy...I never went to class and got a B. Test are over application of terms and all notes are supplied on the web
His test are all application which is a plus. You have to do a lot of briefs and have hard pop quizzes. He tries to make the class interesting though. You HAVE to keep up with reading or youll fail! He doesnt post notes you have to be in class.

Clear and concise. He takes great pride in his powerpoint slides. The briefs are not hard at all, causes you to stay on track with the reading in order to do well. Overall, excellent class even though there is tons of information.
hes alright. kinda stuck on himself. the briefs are not really hard. who knows how the TA grades them but oh well. he loves his power point. the only really bad thing is that blue remote. he just started using it and could care less if YOU are having prob
The material is easy to understand however his lectures are boring and the tests frequently have ambigious questions which can affect your grade.
Average workload/ difficulty. Very good lectures and teaching. His major flaw? He uses those darn blue pads; and, when they fail, he offers NO help to the students. The blue pads work for some, but to base grades off unpredictable technology is wro
Very rude and not helpful at all.
His teaching is okay, but he completely passed the buck on the blue remote things. My grade is one letter lower than it would have been if the blue pads worked for me. Yikes.
Not too difficult, but he is not a good teacher.
he's the most unhelpful, uncaring teacher I've ever had...he really screwed over his students this semester (spring '04) with tose stupid blue pad remotes that never worked
I do not know him personally, but he is not helpful at all.
I made a c, but I would have made an b if the blue pads worked for me. I approached him and the TA's about it and they told me to contact the company. Funny, I thought it was his class, not the blue pad manufacturing company's. Oh well.
Yup, it's true - the blue pads do not work.
we used a new quiz/attendance that required a remote per student-over 60% of the time they did not work and even going to the dean about it
I would pick someone else if I had a choice!
Makes the class more difficult than what it is.
Extremely difficult. Homeowrk alot and grades very hard. His TA's are just as rude as him. Exams are impossible. Doesnt care about the students at all. Take Sutton, he is caring
took several semesters ago... lots of homework... will keep you the entire class, lecture the entire time.. I SUGGEST TO AVOID
Worst teacher I ever had.He is Very inconsistant with grading and is extremely rude. Thinks he is better than everyone else and very full of himslef. Avoid him at all cost he is terrible. You must have respect for your teachers to do good and there is no way anyone can respect this jerk.
he's test is soooooo hard, he's very unhelpful..
No homework, other than reading to study the material. If you attend class, take notes, and read even a little of the book you should do well(A or B). Tests were moderately difficult. Takes attendance occassionally. Lets class go early about 1/6 of the time. Good, clear professor. Unique style.
EASY CLASS READ THE BOOK EASY A THREE TESTS DIFFICULT IF BOOK NOT READ
Exams are hard, but if you talk to him at his office, he will try to help you out outline your exam reviews. Very interesting class and really good professor. If you want to make an A you really need to work extremely hard.
He's too difficult in my opinion, I'm one of those study nerds, and I still couldn't B his tests even though I must have read the chapters twice each.
i read the book and still couldn't pass his tests. extremely hard!!! also adds HW (briefs) unless you have nothing going on in your life and can dedicate 24/7 to his class dont take him.
This class is very hard, but the professor knows what he's talking about. He is extremely knowledgeable. If you're planning on pursuing law school, this class will be a great way to prepare. Just expect to do alot of reading and outlining.
i don't know why ppl think this guy is hard. this guy is an amazing professor. i recommend his class to all. read the material, read his notes. easy, B! study harder and you'll get an A!
First, the tests that Sandoval gives are very hard. To me, the questions were very tricky because there was more than one answer, and it is up to you to figure out which one is correct. Second, your final grade is based on three test grades, and if you don't do well then you are jeopardizing your GPA. I recommend any BLW teacher over Sandoval.
he is patetic!
Summer 05', his test is so hard, but he makes the lecture seems easy. don't take him. Avoid if possible! :(
He explain the material well but his test is so hard, very hard, easy to fail! do not take him! take sutton instead!
Yes he is an intellegent guy and his lectures and interesting- But the test are hard with no curve, no study guide and so much information- he could do a much better job at teaching the material in a way that help students learn.. but in a class of 250 i guess that would be hard. DONT TAKE THIS GUY...
Granted his test are difficult, but for what its worth they will prepare you for the CPA or LSAT. What you take from his class is real life situations that you will be presented with, wheather or not your prepared is up to you. This calss is hard, but so is life. Sandoval helps believe it or not; in retrosepct it is the most useful class I've taken
Yes he is an intellegent guy and his lectures and interesting- But the test are hard with no curve, no study guide and so much information- he could do a much better job at teaching the material in a way that help students learn
Read the book VERY carefully...pay attention to examples, they come up on the test. Understand how the notes relate...would take him again
summer 06, really hard, i got a D and studied alot (some was cramming). only 3 tests-- tests are all analytical and you apply the terms and cases (no definition questions). must read book and go to class, because somethings on test are not in book
One of the hardest classes I have taken. I would recommend paying close attention to his lectures because the questions he asks are similar to those on the tests. Remember his examples while taking the tests. STUDY TERMS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, till you know them perfect. Study twice as much as any other class.
interesting class. read the book and pay attention in class and you will do fine. tests are difficult but not impossible to get an A
It is a curious fact that people are never so trivial as when they take themselves seriously. -Oscar Wilde
I hate to say it, but his class was just not for me. Tests are really hard, which means you need to read and re-read all the examples and chapters. If your in Honors, you also have to do briefs which are so annoying. If you like a challenge, then take this class. But then again I heard Sutton's blw class was worse this semester than Sandoval's.
This class is the hardest class I have ever taken. I didn't find very much help from the Professor or the TA. I scheduled an appointment for review and help from a previous exam and he never showed up. I was amazed. He was never in his office during office hours. Overall, I was interested in business law until I took this class with this Professor.
This teacher is really hard, the material is tedious and overwhelming. I guess if you like reading 6hrs worth of cases per night, than this class is for you. He forgets you are a student and one of his lawyer colleagues. Its not impossible to pass but pretty close. Read, Read, Read and come to class everyday.Walks around so much it makes me dizzy.
avoid if you can
Has hearing problems, often gets confused when students ask questions. If you ask a question, he will answer you as if you asked a completely different question. Also misspells things every now and then. Altogether a strange individual.
I took Dr. Sandoval two semesters ago. His class was challenging, but if you came to class and paid attention, then you didn't have an issue come test time. Got a B, and I was happy with that. Overall, great professor.
Extremely hard! DO NOT TAKE! It seems that he purposely fails everyone the first two briefs. Just reword what is in the book in your own words and you'll get an A/B depending on how well you construct your arguement. The tests are HARD!!! The wording is horrible, made to trick you. READ the chapters and take notes to pass this class
He was an extremely hard teacher. He was very strict in terms of grading.
This class is hard only if you dont show up....If your there for lectures, then makes everything fall into place...Briefs are from the book, just reworded to show you understand...And be sure to use "Whether or not.." and "Therefore.." in your Brief..Good Professor...Good analogies used to help you understand IF YOU GO TO CLASS
Professor is a lawyer, does not have/make time outside class to help students. TAs are rude and evasive, do not explain grading procedures. In Honors section, homework comes in legal briefs, need book. No communication, test reviews are worthless. (President's List student)
Terrible professor and incontentant TA's. His dumb TA miscalculated my grade and changed my first test grade 3 times. From 65 to 75 and back to 65. I've never heard of a professor making a mistake and making you out to look like the bad guy by giving you the bad grade, telling you to bring your scantron in to analyze it, and NOT SAYING SORRY!!!!!!
Extremely Knowledgable professor. Very NICE personality.
Very difficult and easy at the same time if that' clear you should do OK. You need you books, and the prof flies through the lectures. For His exams (3 that make up 90% of your grade) are definition and law application based. Use your briefs to learn the law and you'll do fine.
Professor is knowledgable, but is not the greatest teacher. Must attend class in order to do well. Requires you to buy a book that he wrote which is ridiculously expensive. Exams are difficult.
Hardest teacher ive ever taken! Do not take unless your fascinated with business law and you want a challenge! No reviews nearly no help at all on anything
Do not take this teacher if you value grades at all. I am Acing every other class I am taking but this teacher, alone, I can barely make B's on his work. His standards of grading on the weekly homework are outrageous and inconsistent. He is a nice guy but unrealistic.
Prof is very confusing, hard of hearing so he doesn't understand questions asked in class. Extensive use of TA to deal with students. Tests cover absurd amounts of information and no review. 1/3rd of course uses book written by prof. Expects students to think as if in law school. Very Difficult Prof. Did make an A but with exhaustive studying
BUY THE BOOKS, you'll need them. He wrote one of the books and it has lots of cases. If you memorize the cases so that you can regurgitate the holdings given the facts, you'll do fine on his tests. He only asks holdings for all the cases in the books. It's not a bad class, I just didn't memorize everything.
Worst teacher I've ever encountered. Mixes up the tests to keep students from being able to understand his testing methods. Extremely boring lectures and horrible TAs. The first C I've made in college.
probably the worst professor i've ever had. i still don't understand a THING about law. no review for exams, and he expects you to memorize everything he ever goes over. minimal interaction with students - this is what he has a TA for. don't take him if you actually want to learn or care about your grades at all!
The absolute worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't care about your opinions. He is very forgetful and doesn't lecture to the class. Doesn't curve and requires you to read ALOT. Team up with people and share readings. I got a "B" in his class and my other classes suffered because of this one. Avoid at all costs!!
Good guy! He is real nice, but doesn't teach so well. He's very monotone and loses track alot during his lectures. His tests are pretty difficult and he grades hard.
I thought the class was very interesting. I think his lectures are engaging. He wants his students to succeed. Go to his office for help - he's more than happy to assist and see you succeed. Tests were hard overall but I thought one was pretty easy. Attend class, take notes, and outline to help you study - What a concept!
Lectures and class discussions were interesting. His tests were awful--spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors up the ying yang! Precise language is very important in law studies.
Attend regularly! I studied for every test and barely passed. Its not an easy course. He grades extremely hard on briefs and tests are usually not over lectures but over situations and how you apply law to them.If you are an A student, you WILL HAVE TO BUT ALL YOUR EFFORT INTO GETTING AN A. HONESTLY,I'm not sure they exist.
Prepare for the exams. He uses a lot of the examples he says in class. I bombed the first exam but brought my grade up with the 2nd and 3rd exam and still only passed with a C. He said his class is more difficult than other b/c it is a new way of thinking...If he is well aware of that fact, why not cut his students a break?
This teacher and class is complete ****. Do NOT take this professor! Class is extremely difficult and u spend so much time trying to pass this that u fall behind in all your other classes. He is cocky and barely provides any help. I didn't believe anyone when they told me to avoid his class PLEASE listen to me!!! He is terrible!
Very difficult class. Choose another professor. Consider all the previous comments.
Worst teacher at UTSA! First day of class he said that 80% of the class will drop. He wasn't helpful at all and doesn't explain the material. I took his class several years ago and seeing how everyone is responding, he hasn't changed at all. Why is he still teaching here? Avoid this teacher at all costs!!!!!
he is a sweet man if you talk to him. I always enjoyed talking to him. very knowledgable and interesting
horrible teacher!! stay away! there are only 3 exams including the final and no TA. Very difficult class and bad bad teacher.
Very nice guy, very interesting to talk to. Having said that, you really, really don't want to take him if you're interested in making a good grade. Three exams, each one harder than the last, and that's it.
Terrible professor!! Very low student interaction so it gets boring very fast. Take ANY other teacher but him if you can!
three test and they are so confusing some of them have two right answers it was terrible there are way better professors for this class. His examples were so old that they didn't help it was just awful
He is a great professor. The comments scared me but I assure you he is helpful. If you attend class and actually READ the cases, you will do fine. The class is taught like law school so it is Socratic and you need to be prepared. He is always willing to meet with students and answer questions.
easy A if you go to class and read the cases. BUY THE STUDY GUIDE.
This is a tough class regardless of the professor you take. The key is to read the book, attend class, TAKE NOTES OF EVEN THE EXAMPLES GIVEN ABOUT SAM AND JOE. This class will be a lot easier if you do these three things and will guarantee a passing grade. Always willing to answer questions.
Class was not very difficult. He has a problem hearing so asking questions was a bit troublesome. Attendance is not mandatory but he will check it sometime. Reading a book was a must to pass this class. He would not give the students his PowerPoint presentations.
Terribly boring class. Professor speaks in a monotone voice, speaks slowly and cannot hear students questions. Nice guy, but makes it a challenge to understand or focus. Requires 2 textbooks which are overpriced and def. requires reading to pass this class. Tests are difficult and wordy. Focus on Sam and Joe examples. Test is about applying the law
His class is not easy. If you read and take notes you will do we'll. He is a nice guy and will help you if you ask.
monotone and very hard to listen to, tests are not easy. he will help you if you ask, would recommend a different teacher unless you can solely focus on his class.
Thank the lord that this guy had a family emergency and had to stop teaching my class. He was so boring! It was almost impossible to pay attention in class. Bruner ended up taking over our class. Take Bruner. He is a hundred times better than this guy. I never had to take Sandoval's tests because he left so i am not sure how difficult they are.
Took Sandoval for Business Law and boy am I glad that he had an emergency during the semester and had to take leave. From everything I had heard after signing up for the only available class, his tests were pretty difficult. His lectures were extremely hard to sit through without falling asleep. Bruner replaced him and was so relieved. Take Bruner!
