I enjoyed his class and thought he was a very effective and capable teacher. His classes are not hard as long as you pay attention. If you need help he will set aside the time to help you. I would take him again.

Dr. Barfield is very helpful. I missed a week of class for an exam, and I was allowed to make it up a week later instead of earlier. Fantastic. Decent lecturer, class sometimes dull. New seminar, it developed as we went along.

he comes to class at least 5 minutes late everyday. he helps prepare you for speeches but grades hard. the tests are straight from the book. the class is interesting and easy.

He is one of the best teachers you could ever taken. He explains things in the way anyone could understand. He is very down to earth and is speech assignments or very easy. The best is the panel dicussion. Trust me you will pass his class.

Took it honors, very easy class, though you wont learn a great deal. Three speeches, a few very, very easy quizzes straight from the textbook, and like three tests which are just as easy, they all have every quiz question verbatim on the test. Take him, you'll breeze through

Dr. Barfield is a real good teacher. He takes a real interest in his students; Likes to have students participate in the class discussion; not very strict but does require mutual respect . I stay in touch with him as he is a good person to have as a mentor.

He care about students and it show. He make the class get involved with group discussion. If you attend every class you are sure to receive an A in the class. He is a really understanding professor and excepts that things happen in life so if you ever have a problem do not be afraid to go to him.

Probably the best teacher I've had at UCF. He's really nice and willing to work with you if you miss quizzes or class. Grades kindly and class was interesting

Professor Barfield is simply the man. If you want a chill, relaxed guy as a teacher who still tries to help you do well, take him. Although he's got a very set opinion on how a speech should be made, he's laid back and very approachable. His class is extremely enjoyable, I am sad to see it end.

Tests are online and so are quizzes. There is 1 group project but he is pretty laid back with what goes into it. His lectures are interesting and what he talks about in class is what is on quizzes.

super super easy and a fun class. teacher is really great and really helpful. he replies to your emails by the end of the day. and posts your test and quiz's online so you can take them at your convience. its a great class. took him twice!

Dr. Barfield is hilarious and very interesting! Definitely take his class for your Comm. req.!This class was unbelievable. Took it as a freshman in Summer B and no regrets! Tests/quizzes online for 75% of your grade, assignments/participation for the rest. Attendance isn't required but sometimes exercises are done which count toward participation.

Professor Barfield is a really good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. Unfortunately, he focuses on race wayyy too much which can get really annoying. I want to learn about communication, not race. However, if you want to take a class with an easy A, take it. Just show up to class, he has a lot of participation credit in class

His class is fairly easy; however participation counts for 20% of your freaking grade! His tests include fill in the blank sentences straight from the book but they are online at home so they can be done. The biggest problem I have with the class is the random days he counts participation and that it counts for so much!

I like him as a person. Did not like his class. I would have liked to follow the txtbk more and felt like I would have learned more that way. Tells stories to make his point and it takes too long. 1 of 2 books used is a waste of time for a conflict class and should be used elsewhere. Religious beliefs are evident but not a hindrance. Tests = easy.

easy A... bi-weekly tests on webcourses, group project, meditates the first 15 mins of class, and absolutely hates cell phones (he made us take a pop quiz b/c one went off during class).

I had him for Intro to Communication. He wasn't totally boring, but he did bring up race way too much. It was often only tenuosly connected to the class material, and it almost made me feel guilty about being white. He's extremely easy, though. His tests and quizzes come DIRECTLY from the textbook, and he tells you exactly what to write for notes.

I just finished his class today and I loved it! He relates every lesson to a personal story which helps you understand every concept. He is also pretty funny and tries his best to get to know as many students as he can. Attendance is not required at all, & the tests are all online. The class is easy and I would for sure take his courses again!!!!!!

Lectures are always interesting and easy to follow. Tests are manageable as long as you show up to class and glimpse over the textbook. Definitely worth taking if you want a fun communications course that won't bore you with the lectures.

He does go off topic a little with his examples, but all of his quizzes and tests are online and as long as you have the book you should be fine. He does give little random assignments for attendance so be careful with that.

This class was very interesting and Barfield made it fun. You have to get with partners and groups for activities sometimes, quizzes are online. I took it in the summer, if you go to lecture and do the basics you should get an A. Wonderful professor, take him!

One of my favorite college classes by far. He is a wonderful speaker and extremely knowledgable and relatable. He teaches you deeper life lessons and you learn more than you expect. Tests and quizzes as well as hw is online, very easy to get an A

If you're going to take communications, take this professor! His class is super easy. Class is not necessary, he often cancels class and posts an online discussion instead. All the test and quizzes are online and you can work together.

This is such an easy class and very doable. This class taught me a lot of life skills and all of the tests and quizzes were online. He would often cancel class and we would do an online assignment instead. I took this class over the summer and it was very easy. I highly recommend!

This class is really easy and i took it over summer b. he rarley teaches to the bell and lets out early. The class is irrevelent and its basically stories about himself. But the textbook helps for the online tests and is easy to pass. Hes a nice teacher and funny. The work is common sense and a good summer class- A+

Mr. Barfield is such a thug. Seriously, he shows up to class 5-10 minutes late and dismisses class WAY before scheduled time. He also cancels class a lot for online discussions. He makes class fun and tells some great stories that are relevant to the course topic. Honestly, he makes class fun. Cool, funny guy. EASY A

Pros: Tells animated stories that correspond to coursework, textbook is rarely used, only 6 quizzes/tests, class was always let out early, easy to communicate issues with, and loves to help students whenever he can. Cons: He was always late to class (This being a con is relative.)He's a great guy! Take this class and you're guaranteed an easy A.

Basically he takes attendance so you have to go to class but his lectures are usually just stories about his paths and some videos he shows you that are posted on web course. My advice is just read the book and take very good notes from that . All tests and quizzes are given online.

Barfield was a great professor to have for my first semester of college! His lectures were interesting and hilarious at times. The only bad thing I would have to say is that his quiztest questions were unclear at times so make sure you pay attention to the lecture. You can also find some of the quiztest questions in the book so read the chapter!

His class was fine. He takes random attendance through assignments. All tests & quizzes are online, you can use your book. Lectures are on the test & quiz so be careful & take notes. He's sometimes confusing as are his tests & quizzes. GET. THE. BOOK. You NEED it & if you can, bring it to class. He also randomly calls out on people during lectures.

Attendance is rarely taken and when he does take attendance it is for a participation grade. No midterms or finals but the 3 tests are worth 75% of your grade. The tests and quizzes are based off the lectures and the chapters from the book.

Professor Barfield is direct. Sometimes less is more. If you ask questions he will answer them. He is awesome, lectures are applied to everyday life. Tests are based on the reading, and modules. It is best that you know how to navigate through web courses. Literally all the information on the tests are given via lectures, modules.

An easy A as long as you (or a friend in the class) show up every day. All tests and quizzes are online and can be taken any time during the day of the test/quiz. Textbook is needed for the tests/quizzes and he asks questions specifically about things he only mentioned in class, so definitely make sure you or your friend is there most classes.

For Intro to Comm, he was a good prof. His quizzes are pretty easy, but his tests are a bit harder. You have to attend class because a lot of questions are based on his lectures. He also collects things every once in a while so you don't want to miss class. He is very leaned back in a sense since his tests and quizzes are open notes.

Dr. Barfield is very funny and relatable. While he doesn't take attendance in class he does the occasional in-class assignment that is then graded. To get A's on the test outline the chapter, watch ALL the videos on webcourses and work with others. Book is a must-have. I rented from Textbook Solutions for $1. The tests can have errors so be aware.

He was a very kind man, and the class was very easy to pass. All quizzes were online and open-notes. Hardly any tests except for the final; the speeches were the most heavily graded, and he went easy on you with those. Be prepared to read some, because the quiz questions require you to actually know whats going on.

I would definitely take his class again. I took COM 4805 online, and his lectures are all recorded and quite long. If you read over his notes, it's pretty easy. His written assignments are easy as long as you follow the instructions. You don't need the book unless you enjoy reading.

Dr. Barfield lectures like a coach. He challenges students and speaks loudly mid lecture. Make sure to pay attention to the syllabus, as webcourses dates will be updated as semester goes on. You can pass the course without the books, but you won't learn much. Quizzes, tests, and meditation for assignments. It's good material if you take it in.

EASY CLASS! 2 quizzes, 3 tests, and like 4 assignments throughout the semester. I felt like he even forgot to follow his own syllabus. Great class to take along with a tougher course load. You do need textbook (but rent the ebook). I probably spent like a full 4hrs in working on this class throughout the entire semester. TAKE if C&C major!

On the first day, Barfield said that he doesn't see any reason why anyone shouldn't get an A in the class, and that's accurate. The tests are all online and open textbook, the speeches are graded very easily if you follow the format, you will get an A.

Honestly, it is an easy class. The material is interesting as well. He doesn't have too many assignments, for the most part everything is 100 points so make sure you don't miss anything! The only thing I would say is that he is unorganized. However its nearly impossible to not pass this class with flying colors. Def take.

I took this class online in the summer. It's a really straightforward class. 3 quizzes, 3 tests, and 4 easy assignments. All you need to do to get an A is use the book. I rented the textbook for $1 at textbook solutions. Don't waste your money at the book store. Take this professor and you will pass with a breeze!

Funny teacher. His lectures definitely strayed from the course material but there were still hilarious and interesting, Tests are easy to pass as long as you read the textbook. You will walk out with an A

He isn't a bad guy and his lectures were interesting but honestly as long as you read the book you'll do fine. He gets off topic A LOT and talks frequently about God/religion which is whatever with me but I know some people don't enjoy that. Overall, just read the book and you'll be good :)

Class structure was super clear and staying on top of assignments was not an issue at all. Tests have some very specific questions and he doesn't give extra credit so it's so important to do well on all the assignments, especially because there are not a whole lot of grades if this class is taken online.

Professor Barfield sets up the course in a manner that is easily accessible and laid out in an organized manner. This class was the least of my worries this semester as everything is self explanatory and simple.

This professor is amazing. Your only work is 4 tests throughout an entire semester. There is no busy work and he assigns each test a month before the due date so you have more than ample time to work on each test. Take him if you want an easy A or if you're overwhelmed with course work and want a class you won't have to do anything for.

He literally gives you all the material you need to pass. I know it sucks, I highly recommend getting the textbook it'll really save you. I've taken him twice honestly he is a better face-to-face class, but an easy online class.

This course is very bone dry and I really struggled with the first few chapters getting accustomed to the quiz/test structure. But, he responded to me within the next day or so and answered my questions. Tests repeat some questions from the quizzes and you can boost your grade that way. Class Participation (27.5%), Tests (50%), Quizzes (22.5%)

This is the sweetest teacher ever. He responds to everything with a "Good work :)))" "Thanks for sharing and appreciate your thoughts :)" His instructions are in an audio recording and he responds to every email you send with complete sincerity. Missed 2 assignments altogether and still got a 95.63%

Love Professor Barfield. His class is easy as long as you do the work (a lot of assignments but all easy) and read the book you'll be fine. His lectures are very insightful and I genuinely loved this class. 10/10 would take again.

Dr. Barfield's course is pretty simple. There are four modules; each module with its own deadlines and exam. Modules are packed so do not wait till the last minute to complete them, but you should be fine by completing the module and reading the chapters. No cumulative final, and there is a SONA component.

Definitely the most laid back class I've taken. Only 4 modules, each of which has one due date for all the assignments within that module; work at your own pace. Quizlet is your best friend.

He's is great and makes things easy. He opens up the course work for you monthly so you have about a month to finish the work due, so you are able to do it at your own pace which is nice. He is pretty hands off, but his work is not difficult at all as long as you do the assignments it is an easy 100% each time. He grades mostly for participation.

Best class I've ever taken. I learned a lot and my mental health improved taking this class. Most assignments are participation so just be honest and you'll get 100%. The tests and quizzes are easy if you do the reading and there are no long papers. 100% recommend this class if you are looking for an easy and flexible class.

I have taken many of his classes and love his teaching style. He is a very laid-back teacher and kind. He posts a whole section of the semester at once so if you are going on a trip you can get it done early which I think is very helpful. He also gives feedback on your point of view which I like because he actually cares about my opinion. take him!

I genuinely really enjoyed this class! This is probably the easiest class I've ever taken and the Professor is amazing I enjoyed each lecture! The material covered is inspirational and spiritual which really helps you explore your spirituality if you actually pay attention. Assignment modules are due once a month and they are really easy.

Online class: I enjoyed this class, and learned a lot as well. The professor opens up an entire module at a time and allows 3-4 weeks to complete it. Provides feedback, easy assignments, and textbooks are required.

If you read the chapters (pdf of book is online), watch the videos, and read the articles he gives you, you will be fine. He did the modules on a week to week bases, each module had to be completed in that week which was never a problem for me at least.

Not as easy as I thought the class would be, but because we were allowed to use notes/online materials during exams I think this class is easy enough to get an A in.

I took Professor Barfield for an online communications class. The class was very engaging and easy if you stayed on top of your assignments and read/watched the articles assigned.

Took class over shortened summer semester and wasn't very overwhelming. Everything for the week is due at the end of the week and unlocks at the beginning of the week so you cant work too far ahead. 3 tests, some quizzes, and a couple projects.

The textbook is not mandatory if your only goal is to pass the class, the class was about 20 assignments for the whole semester, with 5 assignments released to do for the month. You can get an A using Quizlet which is great but if you get a bad grade it will effect you because of so few assignments. Tests make up 65% of grade

The text book is not mandatory but I recommend it as it was very helpful while reviewing for the tests. The class was not difficult at all, as long as go through the assignments through out the month and do not leave them for the last minute. You need to so good on the tests since they are worth so much more than the quizzes and homework.

Pretty easy class and completed the course early. The work wasn't hard at all, and test weren't too bad. Very little interaction with the teacher.

The class isn't hard but you MUST read. Assignments are 100 points each, even 5 question quizzes. Several assignments are due altogether at the end of each month & you have to be able to hold yourself accountable to complete them. Professor was never really present throughout the semester, never gave feedback, sent messages/announcements, ect

I've had this professor in the past and he recycles some of his other course material. You will have to read quite a bit, but it is a simple and straightforward class.

This is a self-paced course since each module (3 total) is open for 3-4 weeks, so it's easy to get behind. You definitely need the textbook as the content on quizzes and tests comes from that. Tests are a bit tricky because you can't go back after submitting an answer, and are 65% of your grade. Overall, if you read and take notes you will be fine.

So I will say this course needs to be updated, you can tell he has used the same lectures for a very long time. However, it is a very easy class. Each unit is self-paced so if you procrastinate, it will take you a long time to do. Most of the assignments are basically graded on participation so as long as you try, you will do well!

He uses old lectures so I think it is due for an update but other than that it was a very easy class. As long as you are honest and put in effort to the assignments, you will do well. There are a lot of assignments within each unit so I would recommend doing a couple each week because it will take a long time otherwise. Definitely recommend!

Barfield literally gives his students modules to finish each month and you can finish them EARLY. he's an easygoing professor and all you have to do is read an article, listen to his lectures like a podcast, and you will pass his class! If I could, I would have him for my Capstone IMMEDIATELY. I'm a Barfield stan.

His class was pretty easy, but I took it online so I'm not sure if it is harder in person or not. The class was pretty interesting to me and the assignments were easy as long as you at least skim the textbook.

I took him for an online class, meaning it was basically self-taught. It was good overall; if you read and understand the text book, you'll do well.

Very easy class. The way my class worked with him was 1 module per month and all the homework was due at the end of that month. So I was able to finish the homework on my own time, whether that be really early and no homework for the rest of the month, or, frantic throughout the month and able to finish it at the end.

Professor Barfield was great! He was very lenient with deadlines and doesn't assign busy work. Assignments are mainly just practicing with speech outlines, citing, and the actual speeches themselves. Pretty easy :)

Took this class online and finished it in 3 weeks. Easy GEP A, it's literally just a class about how people communicate. No extra credit is given, so make sure you get high scores on the short quizzes.

Easy online class if you stay on top of the textbook and modules. The exams are tricky, but Unstuckstudy was super helpful for exam prep. Overall, a chill class for an easy credit.

Completely online course with some audio recordings by the professor. 1 module is given per month that consists of 5 chapters with a quiz for each. There are very vague powerpoints so you do need to read the textbook to understand the content. Only 3 tests for the entire course. Overall a very chill and easy class and professor.

Easiest class, the only way you'd struggle is if you've never had any social experience in your life or you don't get all the assignments in on time. I finished the whole course in like 3 weeks, and all the instructions are very clear.

so easy, you can finish this class in like 1 week or less, its all online quizzes with like 1 sentence questions. highly recommend if you dont want to do any work. PLS TAKE

Professor Barfield was good. He wasn't very present in the course, just recorded lectures (where he speaks unbearably slow for a comm prof), and PowerPoints/Videos. Otherwise, very easy work, I didn't use the textbook till the end of the class. 1 month per module, work at your own pace till the deadline, just don't pile work. Super easy class.

A great guy and easy class. Over the course of a semester, we did three speeches and two tests. He's very clear on what he wants to see. You'll laugh at his lectures. He uses a textbook, but honestly you could get away with just reading his review slides. I'd recommend him always.

Dr. Barfield is a great, enthusiastic professor. I found his class to be very easy if you just follow his rubrics for speeches, and make sure to participate in class. For anyone who needs a public speaking gen ed credit, I 100% recommend Dr. Barfield.

This class was not difficult to do well in as long as you tried. Because I took it online we would record ourselves saying our speeches and then he would grade them. I will say, the class seemed a bit unorganized and there was some times that it would be weeks before he posted a new assignment. It's not necessarily a bad thing but it was odd.
