I loved the way she teaches the subjects. She knows how to paint an image of the subjects in your mind. She was grate. If you struggle with chemistry try taking her class.
I took Dr. B over the summer, and she made a class I generally have struggled with doable. Her lectures are clear, she guides you through labs, and her grading expectations are clear and fair. Her reviews she posts for test are a must, they help guide you through material. Very kind and approachable, I wish she taught chem 2.
Dr. B is a great professor; she is very accessible, and her explanations make concepts easier to understand. However, in the end, it is still Chemistry, so you need to put in the work. Nevertheless, Dr. B will provide you with all the tools you need to achieve an A. If she were to teach Chem 2, I would definitely take it with her.
Dr.B is amazing! She wants her students to succeed and helps as much as she can. She does take points for small things on lab reports so be cautious. Her reviews and homework really help with the exam. She's very accessible and gives two extra credit points. She's one of the professors I've had.
I took this professor for summer semester, so the class was a little rushed. She was super nice, understanding, and accessible for questions always. Her lectures are clear, and because it was a hybrid class she posted videos for them, making it super easy to review. She also provided us with reviews before each test that were super helpful.
She's the sweetest. Amazing Lectures. Can't say anything more than what everyone else has already said. Take her!!
Dr. B is an amazing professor. All tests reflect her lectures and review material, so it is extremely easy to pass her class. She's very caring and wants you to understand the material. This is my second time taking a class of hers so I would 100% take her again. (she also gives extra points on the test)
Dr. B was a lovely chemistry professor. She cares about you succeeding and is very accessible outside of class. She gives homework that will either be turned in, or you take a quiz on it. Her tests are very similar to the study guides and homework you receive and there were never any surprises or trick questions.
I enjoyed this class. Chemistry is hard, however, her video lectures were beneficial and she gave reviews for each chapter which was very helpful in making sure I understood the material. She made the class as easy as it could be. I would definitely take her again. She gives usually one lab a week, an assignment and then your video lectures.
Taking the class in person right now. She may seem standoffish the first week, but those who stick with the class past it will know that's far from the case. Great lectures, easy and useful homework assignments and labs, and a caring woman. The subject is generally difficult for some but she doesn't make it any harder than it should be.
Great professor. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. If you put in the effort, go to the lectures, and study for the reviews, it's honestly an easy A. She makes things clear and is always willing to help. Lab reports are a little bit long and repetitive, but everything else is fine. 100% recommended taking her.
Dr. B is very kind, but the course can be tough as a hybrid class, I recommend the physical class. We had 10 labs and reports, 11 Hw assignments, 4 exams, and 1 final exam. Dr. B drops the lowest hw assignment, exam, and lab report. Extra credit was a course evaluation worth 1 pt. Lectures were videos and did not include what would be on the exam.
Took her Hybrid course, was the best Chemistry Teacher I could ask for. The weekly assignments, lab reports and lecture videos were manageable and easy to get through. Wish I could take her for 1412 too!
Dr. B is an outstanding professor. Her lectures are informative and clear, and she ensures that her students fully understand the material. She is always ready to answer questions. She is one of the best professors I have ever had.
I think it would be better if Dr.B taught the class in person two days. If chemistry is not your strong point, choose an in-person class rather than the hybrid. Hybrid means that you study online and attend class for labs. Dr.B's lovely, but she's strict about grades. If you keep up with your work, you'll be OK.
Professor Rukma is a great professor. She's very organized and setup her class so it is easy to follow along. You need to obviously to stay on top of the assignments and labs but she structures her class so well that it's very easy to do so. She records and posts her slides it's perfect for students who are busy. Highly recommend for all.
Dr. B was an amazing professor. She knows how to teach the class complicated material in understandable terms. She is caring and helps out on any trouble you have in the class. The labs were super fun, and you get to interact with a lot of people and make new friends. Overall, after taking her class I feel confident in my ability for Chem II.
Professor Basnayake's lectures were very helpful and informative. In addition, the assignments provided in the middle were challenging, but also were very helpful as a preparation for the tests. The tests, however, happen at set times (during a specific two hour window on Monday in the evening).
Dr. B is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She explains tough concepts in a way that makes everything click. You can tell she cares about her students, not just academically but personally. She's approachable, always willing to help, and made the class enjoyable. I'd highly recommend her class to anyone!
Homework is in the textbook, lectures are long and she asks people to come up to the board to solve problems. You are expected to have every lab printed and the slides either printed or on an Ipad. Not allowed to have computers/phones as they are “distracting”. Study material is posted in D2L along with practice tests Studying is key for her class.
She was an amazing professor, highly recommend her. Her course was organized by week, each week was a different chapter, usually 2-5 lecture videos, then an assignment and a lab.Of all the courses I have taken, this was defiantly one of the most challenging and tedious but also the most organized and well planned out. Shes available if you need help.
She was an incredible teacher, and I highly recommend her. Her course was structured by week, with each week covering a different chapter, typically consisting of 2-5 lecture videos followed by an assignment and a lab. Among all the courses I've attended, it was also the most methodically arranged and thoughtfully designed
Was very blessed to have had Dr.B as a professor, she teaches her lectures in way that is easy to understand and will go over it with you if you don't and doesn't move on until you do. Very caring professor and only wants us to succeed!
Claims its hybrid but everything was in class except hw assignments. So much hw. Will keep you in class for the full 3 hours. Terrible instructions. Lecture videos did not help.
Loved the experience. Lecture videos were easy to follow, review materials are provided so studying was easy, and the labs were fun. I contacted her via email a couple of times and she responded very quickly. She cares about her students. Literally the only complaint I have about her class is that the exams are only available during a 2 hour window
I highly recommend you take Chemistry with Dr. Rukma. I took her intro to Chem & her Gen Chem I and both were great courses. She is very well structured and super straight forward class. She posts her lectures online making it super helpful for flexible schedules. She is also very helpful fair grader. Highly recommend you take her class.
Professor Basnayake, online chemistry class was one of the easiest science courses I've taken. The lectures were well-organized, just lots to understand, labs were simple. Lockdown browser tests were fair and very similar to the review material. Make sure to study the review material before exams, it will help A LOT! Great professor minimal stress.
Dr. B is one of the best professors at Lone Star. She truly cares about you learning the content and understanding the material; she has you practice in class and prepares you for exams. I can not say enough great things about her. Super clear grading and fun labs. She is super helpful and actually teaches and makes you learn. 500/10
She is really nice and helpful and always reply to the emails on time
This professor in my experience was very professional and knows how to run a class! Study the review material for the exams and you will pass them. She takes questions from them and puts them on the exam which helps with studying effectively. I wish I could take gen chem 2 with her, I definitely recommend.
While she did pick on me in the beginning of the year, she clearly did care for her students. She was always available to email and talk to in her office before class and during hours. It took me a while to get a few steady 100's but it's because she takes small points off so that you learn better. Study with peers! It's still chem.
Dr. B is very nice professor. Even though I took hybrid class (I have to study by myself), she tried to teach us more. And she gives us opportunity to do well on this class, and helps us to learn.
Dr.B is one of the best professors I have ever had especially for chemistry . I took the summer session so it was fast paced but even then her class work is manageable. You have Homework's assignments online , lab reports and exams in person . She truly cares about student success and she curves exams when needed and is open to extra credit options
Dr. B is genuinely one of the best professors you can take for chem. It's still a hard class but the labs and assignments help your grade and are not bad. Test are like test reviews, her material is straight forward. She gives plenty of extra credit and is super quick responding to emails. I couldn't recommend her enough.
Dr. B was an amazing professor! If you ever had any questions or anything was unclear, she was always available by email to answer whatever you were confused about, and she would always respond quickly! Super understanding professor, if you needed some kind of accommodation too. 10/10 would take again!
Took hybrid class. Video lectures weren't helpful, but in person were better. You had to watch all videos to get attendance credit - don't bother. Homework easy, but labs are killer - she is a very hard grader and very strict on formatting for the labs. Extra credit wasn't significant. Kind and caring person, but wouldn't recommend.
Dr.B is excellent at explaining concepts. She makes sure you understand the materials before you walk out of class. I'm not good at science, but I got 100 on every single test. She has long lectures, including practice problems in class, but they're there to help you succeed. Homework is doable; I have no complaints. Take her class, she's the best!
Professor Basnayake is an amazing and caring professor. Her tests are easy100 IF YOU DO THE QUIZZESS. There are pop quizzes, but it will ALWAYS be the homework problems she assigned to you with use of your completed HW. She's always available to help during her office hours and cares about every student! PS Go to her office 1h after test for grades
Best Chemistry prof I've taken. Super clear instructions for labs. Exams are exactly like the practice tests, and she is very generous.
I was in the hybrid class format with Dr. B, where the lectures were videos she posted of her going through the notes, which were very helpful. She also took time before the lab to answer any questions we had over anything from the lecture, and always answers her email quickly.
Chemistry was a difficult subject for me, but Dr. B did everything she could to help her students. She responds to emails very quickly, is easy to access outside of class, and genuinely cares a lot for her students. She provides review material and handouts, since she knows Chem is not the easiest. If you have to take chem, take her :)
I took the hybrid course, and it was definitely a struggle at times. The lecture videos are easy to follow, but Dr. B does tend to overexplain topics. Overall, she's supportive of her students and wants the best for us. The lab instructions are sometimes hard to follow in person, so be prepared to listen and look over the instructions beforehand.
Good professor. Lectures can be a bit boring at times, but they are very helpful. Tests are proctored, but the professor provides great resources to help you prepare.
I loved her. i would recommend to take her. very sweet and graded everything right away !
Very accessible and straight-forward professor. Very caring and wants students to succeed.
Very detailed and clear lecture videos. These are very helpful. She offers extra credit opportunities and responds to messages promptly. Highly recommend taking her class.
She can be hard to understand because of her accent, but she teaches the information that she puts on her tests. If you do the practice questions in the lectures and do the homework problems, you should do well on the tests. She is also very responsive to questions by email.
Gives lecture powerpoints and videos, quizzes through lockdown browser, knows her stuff, probably the best chem professor at lonestar
Hands down would take again! Took a few frustrating weeks to figure out her grading expectations but once you understand what she wants it's easy. I learned so much in this class and really enjoyed it! She's tough but cares about learning and if you put in the effort and PAY ATTENTION and you'll do great! Tip: take really good (*pretty*) notes!!
Honestly one of the best scinece professor I've had at Lonestar. She goes very indepth in her lectures and everything you need to know for the tests will be in those. You have homework, labs, and tests, as long as you pay attention to the lectures everything is pretty easy.
