Class is somewhat boring. However, its very easy and this more than makes up for it.
Holy crap, this prof speaks so fast, you really need to focus and pay attention. She knows her stuff, but just need to remind her to slow down!
She try to make the class easy, the in-class cases are easy marks, but make sure to count the time for your group presentation,or you will lose points(a lot maybe), no matter how good your content is, and her final is not easy...Anyway, she is a good prof.

She is cool, energetic, and fun. Knows how to get us do what she wants us to do without making us feel bad. Overall superb!!! oh but I forgot to mention....exams horibbly tough, u gotta work hard otherwise...
Nice person and fair adn professional prof. Horribly tough exams
No Comments
She admitted the very first class she didnt want to be teaching. Why would you want her as a prof then if she doesnt want to be there?? She can only teach with slides and text book. Easy grader though.
She is a kind prof. Uses textbook all the time. U will get fair marks if you read the textbook. Most of the students got A average. One problem is that she talks so fast and students always ask her to slow down.. She replies e-mail fast but she prefers to be asked by face-to-face. Overall, she is an easy prof.!
Very easy, kinda boring but shes really nice and always willing to help, i recommend you take a class with her if you have the chance...
The exam was quite tough, however it is not difficult to do well in the rest of the assignments.
Great course. Expectations are clear and the assignments are fair / interesting. Weekly case studies are easy grade boosters. Slides are based on textbook - read slides and some textbook and you;ll be fine. Fair prof and interesting course!
Talks extremely fast.. hard to understand at times. The class itself is fairly easy. However, her final exam is really hard. Uses a lot of case studies. Long classes.
High expectations, but specific about what she wants/Overall good lecturer/Learned a great deal in her class/Don't come late
VERY boring class. Pretty sure the only reason 90% of the class took it was because it was mandatory. Case studies were easy as long as you follow all her guidelines. The exam was very hard. Your best bet is to read all her slides, read the textbook, make as many notes from it as you can, cross your fingers and hope you do well.
She talks too fast. Assignments (6 in-class case studies plus a report/presentation done in groups of 3-7 people) were easy, but the exam (multiple choice) was hard. There was no midterm. I took this as an elective, but it ended up being more boring and difficult than I had originally thought it would be.
She is nice as a person, and she know the stuff she's teaching. Case studies are easy. The midterm was super easy and solely based on the notes while the final was unfairly difficult knowing that I read the book, her slide, and very well done summery notes; but still afraid that I'm gonna fail
Lectures were pretty dry, majority of information required for midterm was in the notes. Be sure to do the readings as the final is MC and will focus on that. Case studies are easy if you come prepared.
I took 5 classes with this professor and all I can say is she is professional, knowlegeable and a fair prof. As a person she is kind, approachable but follows rules seriously. Her exams are difficult but if you will attend her classes, you wont have any problem. I love her even though I didn't do great in her classes.
Pros:1)Very kind, smart, likeable 2)very professional and knowledgeable. Cons: 1)unclear on assignment details 2)jams tons of text on slides.3)Doesn't "animate" course content; negotiation and mediation could be very interesting course but the way she presents material is so, so dry.She is an extremely busy woman so her style is understandable...
This prof avoids meeting with students. She is extremely unhelpful if any problems arise (ie with incorrect marking). She is also very rude and unprofessional in emails. She is easy in the beginning but then blindsides you in the final with questions that do not make sense or are not relevant to course material. Avoid her at all costs!
I've had her for 3 different classes so far, two communication courses & ADM2336. She explains everything to the fullest, makes the material very easy to understand. Extremely knowledgable on subjects taught in the course. Very helpful when you have a question or concern. For sure my favourite prof. Only problem: Spends too long on each
I had her for 3 courses, she is always open to questions if you put in the initiative. Not a hard maker on assignments but the final is a little tough if you don't read the chapters. She is highly educated and respects hard work. As long as you put in the effort it's at minimum an easy B in any class
One of the best profs I had at the university, knowledgeable, kind , fair and realistic. Very organized and clear about her expectations.
Spends too much time on each powerpoint slide (even if the concept is straightforward). Everything is very easy until the final exam - confusing wording. Brought my mark down a full letter grade (not because I was unprepared!) I would recommend choosing a different professor.
Very easy to get marks through assignments in this class, but the exams are fairly tough. he prof herself is very difficult to understand, and is very unhelpful, not offering much help outside of class at all. Avoid this prof if it is not completely necessary for your program.
I attended EVERY lecture, and found it difficult to understand. She was not open to answering questions, she would either explain it again using the EXACT same wording, or tell you to read the book (which did not clarify much either). Always had group projects, keeps T.A. hidden from class (very strange).
Professor was able to convey some of the material effectively. Midterm was easy but exam was rather challenging. Students were not well prepared for the exam at all.
i enjoyed the course and professor. She was however annoyed at students' attitude in summer. This is my third class with her and I would love to take any other class she offers. FOr people who miss classes and are not serious for studies, dont take her class!
excellent professor!
Both Thumbs up, very smart and highly qualified person. Learned a lot in her class. She just need to pretend that she can tolerate nonsense.
I attended every lecture and studied hard, but she did a horrible job outlining what would be on the exam. She wasn't clear on the wording or the preparation, and it was way more difficult than the assignments. I went down a full grade, despite how much I prepared for it. Always enforces group work too, which is a pain. It was over half our mark.
Great professor, tough assignments and marking. You wont lose a lot if you literally follow guidelines. Fair exam heavily based on lectures so dont miss classes. One of my approachable and friendly profs who treat students with respect.
I was in the same class as the reviewer below adn am surprised to read the comment. Prof even outlined adn posted on virtual campus what will be on exam and it was a fair exam. As long as you attend classes adn dont miss what she says you will do well without problem. I am taking a course with her for the third time this semester.
Great prof. Very knowledgeable and approachable. Very flexible adn accommodates pretty much all students.
Her ratings here don't do her justice. She is one of the most fair teachers in all of Carleton, sees the class in the perspective of a student, and teaches very well. VERY dull material so it isn't her fault the classes are boring, but always tries to get the class to participate. Very sweet woman and accomodates all students, easy marker as well!
not the most enthusiastic of people ahah but she is fair, knowledgable, and VERY organized. her syllabus is very thorough so you know exactly what to do/expect in terms of projects and exams. had her 3 times now and like her class structure every time as its fairly similar.
She was a horrible professor. She was rude and condescending in relation to questions she deemed pointless, boring, repetitive, and what she said in her first class in relation to future projects/papers was inconsistent with her syllabus. She has no grammar/spelling skills what-so-ever. I wouldn't be surprised if I lost my CGPA (A) because of her!
Easy prof but she is so incredibly boring. Reads right off the slideshow which made it almost unnecessary to go to class. She also has a habit of going over the simple topics more than necessary.
Very interesting and engaging class. I learned a lot from this course. I will definitely take another course with this prof. If possible.
Great prof. Doesn't use a textbook at all. One comment from the same course surprised me as I do not recall she asked for any specific textbook even though few books were placed on reserve. I did okay not too great as I do not have a lot of int'l experience but I sure did find the course interesting and useful for future.
I noticed if a comment was written after the final exam period, people have negative things to say, during the term are excellent. She is a fair and student oriented professor but she does have a reputation of writing difficult exams. I feel if you attend classes (she uses a lot outside the textbook) you would do fine. Keep good class notes.
Realy tough course and a lot of people did bad. Her course outline is 27 pages long, very detailed so simply follow guidelines otherwise you can't pass with a decent grade. One of the great profs, very smart with two doctorates at this age is impressive. She knows her stuff, no doubt.
She is the most inspiring professor I have ever got a chance to be taught by. Compensation Admin is a boring course but she made it very interesting. If you listen carefully what she has to say there will be no problems with this class. Take her calsses and enjoy, talk and interact with this knowlegable woman.
A very dedicated prof and a decent person. I had 5 coruses with her over the period of 4 years. I kind of stalk her on university web site to see what she is teaching. She is a super tough woman, taught all classes until a day before giving birth and came back the 4th day. She takes care of her students. My true role model :)
The best prof ever!
knowledgeable, fair and helpful but a bit strict :)
She is extremely friendly and you can have a conversation with her. She is helpful and answers questions anytime through email or in person. Her class is kind of boring but thats probably because of the content of the class. Her exams and assignments arent hard but her TAs are kind of tough markers.
Fair and a good lecturer. One of the rare profs I was able to follow and not fall asleep :) OttawU needs more people like her but I heard she will be leaving OttawaU next year.
She seems to ramble on about topics and after awhile the information is useless which makes her lectures extremely boring and hard to listen and pay attention to. The class itself is mostly common sense. I also find she can be very rude at times
Rambles and never takes a breath when talking. Course was easy, assignments, midterm... simple. Final exam was brutal - 100 MC - I understood all the answers, I recognized them from class and the book; however I could not understand the wording of the questions(Poorly written.) I had to guess the entire final and went from A+ to B+.
I like her, managing a class with 250+ students is not easy for even senior profs. She is a good human and easy to talk to.
She is a horrible prof and was very difficult to understand. She did not answer questions in person or over email if she felt they were repetitive. She was very rude. Told the class she would never teach this class again because of us. She said we all did horrible on an assignment she never explained because she felt it was "straight forward".
I don't normally write comments but I found recent two comments totally unfair. She is the only profit reputation as a student oriented person. Her course outlines are detailed and she repeats important details. Always replies to emails. Yes I did find the exam hard but she told us not to miss the class otherwise it will be difficult to do well.
I always find it interesting to read what people write about profs right after the final exam. We had an exam last night for CMN2101 and it was tough but not unfair. She is a good prof, very kind and supportive. Some people just need a life and be honest in commenting on others. with all due respect,
Do not miss her lectures if you want to pass the course. Make sure to read course outline before asking her to explain anything already in there. I didn`t feel like having any question on any assignment as many others because I DID read the outline and course expectations. Yuhuuuuuuuuuuu
Took 5 courses with her since I started my program and never heard a single negative comment about her and do not recall a moment when I found her unreasonable. She is fair and knowledgeable. Very dedicated person, she helped me craft my proposal for master's program which is not her job. Very approachable!
Great course and great professor. It was very practical courses, learned a lot of skills. Lectures were good, kept me awake even in my least favorite time of the day 8am. TA was bad but professor was kind enough to re-evaluate. SHe is the best professor at Telfer!
Nice teacher, the midterm and final were both fairly easy. But for a 3 hour class it got pretty boring after a while, many people left by the break. Class was still easy though.
I enjoyed the course even though research methodology is not my thing. Prof. was very good in making it easy for us to understand. I liked the exam with more application type of questions, so memorizing the book won't take you anywhere unless you really know the content.
Great prof. She teaches mostly lecture-based courses so it does get a bit boring. But you do learn a lot. It surprised me sometimes how she knows this much without reading notes like most of the profs do. Class was big but as far as I know everyone liked her.
I took ADM3339, ADM2337 and ADM3319 with her. Learning something from someone who knows what she is talking about WITHOUT depending on notes is rare. She is an excellent Prof, Telfer needs more people like her.
Love her classes and love her too :)
Very brutal 3 hour lectures but if you can concentrate the whole time you can tell she knows what she's doing. Exam and Midterm very easy, just study her slides. Don't need the textbook.
I agree with most comments, her lectures are long but thorough, you don't even need the book as she makes it easy to understand difficult concepts. She sure is very knowledgeable and a nice person too.
She genuinely cares about her students and if she sees you put the effort in, has not problem taking extra time to meet with you and help you succeed. prof is respectful and insightful and explains concepts well. Doesn't read off the slides or the book.
Excellent prof, very genuine person. Cares more for students. Wish more profs are humane like her. See is smart but doesn't show off as most of the profs do.
Excellent class, lengthy lectures but I learn a lot. Will definitely take classes with her again.
Am taking a course now as well but my comment is based on my experience last year. she is one of the best profs, teaching many different courses and in each course you feel like this must be her area of expertise or what she really enjoys....she is that good :)
Very clear, approachable, caring and knowledgeable professor. I always did well in her classes because I never missed any classes.
Great professor, humble, kind, and very approachable. Cares about students and always answers any questions, surprisingly remembers most of the names. I enjoyed both of my courses with her.
Great prof, like her lectures as they are much more than the textbook. A nice person as well!
Great class, and she made the boring methodology course simple for us. I will for sure take courses with her in the future.
At times lengthy lectures get boring but I wont blame the professor. she is great, very student oriented and does a good job in making course material comprehendible. She sure is very straight forward so no nonsense or dumb questions which means read the course outline before emailing...
My favourite prof at OttawaU. Do take classes with her :)
Amazing Professor! Best prof I have ever had in my university career! Highly recommended. Final Exam is hard if you do not read the book or pay attention in class.
Great Prof. Enjoyed all my 4 classes with her. AM graduating now but would love to take her classes if I am back for graduate studies.
I love this woman! Her lectures are super interesting, she just talks non-stop, and her multiple choice final exams can be daunting. But, her presentations are super easy (feel free to read), her case studies are graded easy, and her exams are fair. Talk to her after class, get to know her. She's a no-nonsense, lovely person. Study the textbook!
She is friendly, open-minded, honest ands a very good sense of homour. Not fake like most professors, yet very smart and capable. I am taking 3rd course with her after 2 years and I was surprised she remembered my name :) An Awesome prof and more than that an awesome person.
Very busy person given her teaching load but never rushes you through. Encouraging person. Do not miss lectures. She is very straight forward and brutally honest. She is very simple and no show off. I wish more profs are as REAL as she is. Our class just loved her.
I Cannot understand why this professor is rated as well as she is. She is a horrible teacher. She talks in a condescending tone and does not at all hear the opinions of others. She heavily leans towards the HR side of management and anything that does not benefit HR is ignored by her. This makes her a EXTREMELY biased marker.
Great Professor! Always attempts to make =her lectures interesting even if some topics were dry. This was my 3rd course with her - and I would not hesitate to take another! Shes' realistic, has a good sense of humor and is always willing to help her students before or after class. She also responds to emails quickly! I rate her EXCELLENT!
One of my favorite professors at university! She is very nice.
The most boring course taught by a very nice professor. I dropped this course with 2 other profs before so I can compare. She is good at what she teaches. Yes she is blunt to nonsense whining. If you work hard, she will go beyond her role to help you. The best prof ever.
Simply Excellent. Learned a lot and always looked forward to my classes.
Interesting course, there was no textbook required. However the content covered was intense. Prof is always willing to help and provide support. I enjoyed the course even through multiculturalism in management is not my thing but I for sure learned to view diversity differently.
Great professor. Clear and easy to comprehend. Very approachable if you ever have any questions or concerns.I'd DEFINITELY take a class with her again, no matter the subject!
Perfect person to teach business Ethics....The only business professor who doesn't show off or intimidate students. Would definitely take courses with her again :)
I liked the class, assignments and all three exams. Fair professor. Clear about expectations. Doesn't tolerate irresponsibility and is not flexible with excuses at the last minute.
Very good prof. Multiple Choice on the final were pretty hard though
Interesting course. Cases were long but worth doing. It was a good way of applying theory. Exam was fair at least for those who attended classes.
She doesn't give too much work to student and she makes the tests very easy
My all time favourite prof. I enjoyed every single class with her.
dropped HR 3 times with other profs and I am glad I did. She is an awesome prof. The only suggestion I would have for her is to slow down. She is very knowledgeable and can talk nonstop without looking at slides which is awesome but sometimes it gets difficult to follow and take notes. Overall everyone I know loved her
One of the best professors I have ever taken a course with. Very kind, professional, knowledgeable. Doesn't read her notes or slides which is amazing. Her classes are interesting, case studies and midterms are fair. I'd definitely take more courses in Human Resource Management stream with her.
I took 2 classes with her a year ago. She is the best prof among those I had. I don't usually say but I even told her after I graduated that's he is the best teacher and more than that a very fair and caring individual. I will be starting grad school next year and I hop I get to take classes with her again.
She is fair, approachable and very honest person. Makes long lectures interesting, doesn't read off the slides like most profs. She is friendly but can be tough especially to those who do not read instructions or don't come to the class. Don't take a class with her if you have the habit of skipping classes coz you wont pass :)
Great prof!!! Extremely helpful. Will go the extra mile to help out a student. In a class of over 100, She always had time for individual questions and makes sure your individual concerns were addressed. Great Prof!
So funny in lectures. She is really clear and covers controversial stuff with passion and interest. Highly recommend.
Both thumbs up for this prof!!
She is AMAZING! HR is now my life holla!
Very nice professor. Fair and helpful. Her lectures are great. I wonder how bright colours would look on her as she is always in black outfits :)
Nice professor. Long lectures but interesting content, super long course outlines with detailed instructions for assignments. Very clear about her expectations. Goes by the book but soft on people :)
Great Prof overall. Speaks really fast but has great English. Pay attention to what she says, as she tests almost entirely on class discussions and on lecture slides than concepts from the book. Her first midterm was tough(SAs), the second went way better. The final is... weird... 100% MCQs for final. Grading for cases and SAs is ambiguous.
An awesome professor, very calm, friendly, fair and down to earth. Would only help those who attend classes and are putting the effort. SHe stays long after classes if needed. But very strict and by the book with slackers. Love her lectures. Dont miss ther class as her questions on the final are mostly are from her lectures than the book. I would certainly take a class with her again!
Excellent professor, tough on marking but fair as she tells repeatedly not to miss the class to do well. I lost points on the 2nd midterm because I missed classes. She tests on lectures more than the textbook. Lectures are long but great. She knows her stuff more than anyone I have had a class with. Very approachable if you need help or advice.
One of the best professors at Telfer. Very down to earth, realistic and clear expectations. Serious about her work and helpful to students. Lectures are very informative, she hardly looks at slides or notes. I learned a lot and would definitely take courses with her.
I took OB after reading comments here. I must say I am glad I did take the class with her. She is without a doubt one of the best professors. Very professional, organized, and yet very humble person. A bit harsh marker but given how she goes on and on without having to glance over her notes, her expectations from students are not unrealistic :)
Excellent professor, really cares about students and always supportive. She is very approachable. Lectures are long but very useful. She makes concepts easy to understand.
Very fair professor. very approachable. Very organized and well prepared. I love the fact that she takes students' concerns into consideration and I loved her for treating students with respect.
Best lectures and tricky exams but I would say exams were based on what she teaches. You just need to understand to do well. memorization will not help. Overall I would rate her as one of the best profs!
Very knowledgeable. One of the only prof who never reads from her notes or slides. Fair and approachable. Exams and finals are tough but difficulty levels are exactly she tells from day one. Do not miss classes, just reading book or slides wont help. You need to take notes carefully. She makes you work for the grade you earn!
The best professor ever. Love her lectures and she is very knowledgeable in whatever she teaches. I am taking 3rd course with her and found her amazing as usual.
Nice professor. Super fair but strict. Goes by the book. Great lectures, you learn a lot!
Wow... I don't even know where to begin. Professor Shaukat is absolutely amazing. She is fair, lectures are awesome and she is such a kind woman to talk to. She will help you succeed. Highly recommended!
Overall a great professor and a nice person to talk to. She is fair but strict in term of rules. Make sure to read the course outline and instructions carefully instead of emailing her. Attend classes as she helps by telling what concepts are more important for exams too. Exams are fair. I would take classes with her again for sure.
Awesome professor. She genuinely cares about students and lectures are very engaging.
Great Teacher! She is so kind and really cares about you getting a good grade! The course is an easy course anyways and the test are super straightforward (the main concepts of chapters). I had a 3 hour lecture with her and it usually on lasted up to an hour and a half . Group assignments are easy
The only class this term I actually looked forward to, too bad she is not teaching HRM in the winter term, I will wait until she teaches it :) So easy to talk to her and love her lectures especially the fact how she connects everything with real life.
An amazing teacher and person. She is very clear and knowledgeable on her subject matter.
Her syllabus is very intimidating but she is an extremely accommodating professor. As long as you work hard and talk to her when you need help, she will help you in any way she can. Her lectures were also extremely enjoyable and worth attending!
I must say she appears to be very strict at first but is a very kind and knowledgeable professor. Very clear about her expectations and always willing to help. Her course outlines are also very detailed, no surprises. She can be brutally honest in telling anyone off lol. Apparantly everyone is the class loved her.
Great professor, very organized, always well prepared. connects with students. Easy to talk to her. Love her lectures.
In midst of a heavy course load her class seemed to be the only one in flow that didn't disrupt my other coursework! Would recommend her greatly.
Extremely informative classes, discussions always lead to something really worth knowing about. Prof. has a refreshingly simple and relaxed style of teaching. Impressive the way she is always able to answer every single questions, or debate her points without contradiction. I enjoyed her classes very much!
An awesome professor, can be a bit direct but I guess that's why she is amazing in managing her classes so well. Every time I talked to her, I learned something. Very knowledgeable in her field and a decent person. Her lectures are the best, its so amazing to see how she can teach for 3 hours without looking at her notes.
All around an amazing professor!
A very simple person, very down to earth, respectful and knows her subject matter. She knows how to make theory interesting. Loved the way she connects everything with real life. Excellent sense of humour. One of the best prof at Telfer!
Her lectures are pretty dry although the course content is pretty straightforward. Whenever you are preparing for a multiple choice exam, make sure to read over the textbook chapters. Whenever you are preparing for a short answer exam, make sure to go over her slides. The majority of the students in her class succeed pretty well.
The only professor I have ever had who could teach 3 hours without looking at her notes or slides. Answers every single question in a way that you kind of blindly believe in how she explains things. Cross cultural Management course was an eye opener for me. On a separate note, she is a pleasant person to talk to, very humble but straightforward.
A wonderful professor, clear about her expectations right from the beginning. It was my third class with her and I liked the way she organizes her courses. She is easy to talk to and she cares about students. Highly recommended!
Very Nice professor. Love her lectures. She is fair but has a no nonsense attitude. Don't skip classes as she tests on everything she covers in the class. Very approachable and helpful.
At first she appears to be very strict but when you get to know her. She is one of the most approachable and fair profs at Telfer. Very knowledgeable and confident. Genuinely cares about students and helps them beyond her role but can be brutally honest is dealing with slackers. I like her very much and would take her courses for sure.
Overall amazing prof! Lectures were really engaging and made it motivating to go to class. The group assignments were relatively easy but longer cases. The exam can be harder if you skip classes, she tests you on everything covered in the class whether in or not in the text. She is fair and tells this right from the beginning and in the syllabus.
You either hate or love her. overall organized, well respected and one of the most approachable professors. She made lectures interesting and very engaging. She knows her stuff inside out, literally answers every single question in detail. Goes by the book though, so don't skip classes if you want to get a decent grade. Class seems to love her.
Prof Shaukat is one of my favourites at Telfer. Very knowledgeable yet humble person. Always helpful. Loved her lectures, I learned practical skills in her course. Its easy to approach her and she is very kind. She doesn't like people skipping classes and can be totally inflexible to those missing classes.
read your book is very important because she doesn't teach a lot from the lecture.
Overall amazing professor. Long lectures but interesting content, course outlines very detailed instructions for assignments. Extremely clear about her expectations. Don't skip her classes as what she tells in the class is never posted online and she tells this right upfront. Its worth going to her classes as you learn a lot apart from textbook!
A+ Professor without a doubt, loved her lectures, fair exam, the class loved her, never heard anyone saying anything negative about her. would take her courses again for sure!
She is an amazing professor. one of the best classes I have had. very strict about punctuality and class preparation, very blunt about her position. She never compromises or accepts excuses to any guidelines in the outline , Extremely helpful if you put the effort. class is very interactive and you will never lose interest. great course!
Great prof, learned a lot! Recommend taking this class with her.
Prof Shaukat is one of my favourite professors. Very knowledgeable and comes to class prepared. Her finals (which usually consist of all multiple choice questions) can difficult due to the amount of material you need to know before the final exam. 90% of the answers to the questions come directly from the slides/lectures. Highly recommended prof.
One of my fav prof, very patient, helpful and supportive. Makes you work on a lot of group assignments, i loved the reflective logs assignments. Made me apply course material into real life. Fair marker and great teacher. Doesn't like late comers or those who skip classes, can take attendance randomly. Overall a fair prof, no surprises!
A wonderful professor! Always comes in 30 to 45 minutes early for the class and leaves late, she is always available to help. Classes were always interesting and her activities allow everyone to stay engaged! She has an exceptionally good sense of humor. A very smart person indeed. Take her classes if you can!
I usually dont write comments but I had to. in short this professor is a real gem, very knowledgeable but very humble person. Loved her lectures and mini cases she used to discuss each topic.
She taught a Communications class but made it into a Business class (because she is a Teller prof). I am not in Telfer for a reason!! Speaks quite fast, but answers questions clearly. She is a fairly easy grader and is a reasonable person. There were lots of powerpoint presentations, no textbook.
Great prof! Classes were always interesting and her activities allowed everyone to stay engaged! Would take her if you can! Also, she is very easy to listen to. She made, what should have been a snooze fest, actually really enjoyable.
Great speaker. She explains the material extremely well and in a way that's engaging. Really cares and gets to know her students. She is a very fair marker and clearly outlines what you need to know in order to well. Attend her lectures as they often indicate what topics are important.
Such a great Professor. She loves her students and really cares about the course material. She is also very clear in her expectations. Her exams cover the material perfectly!
Very easy to follow, lectures were extremely well structured and delivered; very knowledgeable in her field, passionate about teaching. Clear about exam expectations and does her best to prepare you. Those who skipped classes did bad on the exam which she warned us the very first day asking never to skip a class or be ready to accept consequences.
Super awesome prof. and just a wonderful person. Very fair grader. Highly recommend going to prof to chat about the course content, always learned something great whenever i talked to her. Would definitely take her classes again!
Good professor, makes everything clear, though a lot of works you need to do in her class.
She only taught theories, which made it difficult to study for the final since they were similar/broad. She could be unprofessional at times and would talk badly about the TAs to the class. She said she would do random attendance for lectures & never did, then said it only matters during student presentations at the end of the term. An ok prof.
She was caring and conveyed the material pretty well. The only thing is that it never seemed like her mic was on, could barely hear her sometimes and I was sitting at the front.
She is a knowledgeable professor with a clear set of expectations. The course was very content-heavy as seen through the Powerpoint slides and her lectures. There was far too much information to attempt to study for the final considering there was no midterm exam. Altering the structure of the course should be considered for future sections.
Contrary to what most have said, I LOVED Professor Shaukat. She was accessible for discussion outside of class hours, she was very clear in her expectations, and she's hilarious! I was a bit worried about the final, as there was no midterm, but all questions were covered in the readings!
Overall a good prof, but her lectures tend to simply regurgitate the textbook. I found that you can either do the readings or attend lectures, but one or the other will suffice.
The group projects are easy but the final exam (worth 40% of your final mark) has nothing to do with the lectures and is instead based on very specific details from the textbook that she never covers in class.
All around great professor. Its funny most bad comments here are after the final exam results. Our class had over 250 students and despite professors multiple reminders many didnt show up and she said if you skipped classes you wnt pass with decent grade and seems like it hapened, I like her she is fair and a great teacher and an awesome person.
Amazing teacher. I love her. She is approachable and will take the time to meet privately if a student needs it. Her expectations are clear and when you meet them you get a good grade. There are a lot of work, but everything is well explained.
Awesome Professor, easily to tell that she is very passionate about what she teaches in class. Always calm and understanding and encouraging. Her examples are funny yet linked to topics! I love her, you would love her too :)
Great prof, kept the class interesting with relevant and up to date info on emerging issues. I enjoyed every single class, and the discussions were great. She is very approachable, wish more profs were like this. Really appreciated her feedback and availability to get to back to me when I had a question. Highly recommended.
Group projects. Group projects everywhere. No midterm so nothing to compare to when preparing for the exam everything on final is either common sense or random facts from the text books.
Very caring and friendly prof. Cares about her students and puts a lot of effort into her lectures. Lectures are 100% necessary, skipping classes and reading textbook alone wont help pass the exam with a decent grade. lots of group work but you get to apply what you learned and course requires group communication skills so makes sense.
She's awesome. I thought she was an easy grader. Lectures can be boring, but she's trying to keep your attention. She expects participation but won't call you out for using FB during lectures. I did not read the textbook past the 4th chapter. Exam was M/C
She is a wonderful person and a great prof for sure. She is fair and gives really good feedback but never changes grades on exams or assignments unless you really have a strong case to make. One of the profs who know how to connect with students and keep professional boundaries clear. You would learn something good even in informal chat :)
an excellent prof! She explains course content in a way that is clear to understand and provides good feedback on assignments. She is also always willing to answer questions to help students have a better understanding of what is being taught in the course. I strongly recommend taking classes with this Professor
This exam, was by far the most hardest exam I've ever done in my university education. That is not to say, she is a terrible prof, in fact, she's among the most kindest and knowledgeable profs in her field. Always ready to help with anything and will give you great advice! Come to class, and take good notes!! She's worth taking!!
The Professor is very knowledgeable and gives lots of valuable, thought provoking information which encourages further reflection. I enjoyed hearing specific, relevant, real life examples which help to reinforce the topic being learned. Excellent turn around time on marking. Very good speaker but speaks fast without breaks. Excellent course.
1. Very rude. You don't want to email her about the class, She would respond to all class in a very sarcastic way. 2. Not only is the final exam hard, but at 70 multiple choice questions, she only gives us two hours to do it, unbelievable!
I don't write comments but I had to as the comment below is unfair and absolutely wrong. Prof. Shaukat is the kindest and the most accommodating professors ever. She is never rude, yes she could be tough to those who don' show up and don' read course outline. There was no final exam for this course so not sure the rant about difficult exam lol
Took her for an online class (COVID-19). Her video lectures were very descriptive, gave many real-life examples to make concepts easy to understand. Exam material directly reflected anything covered in class with no surprises at all. Group case projects were short and easy by using knowledge gained in class (& just common sense).
An awesome professor very fair. Very patient and accommodating. As long as you put the effort and seek help no matter how many times you contact for help she would help, if you skip classes, don't check announcements or bright space for updates and send emails with questions, don' expect anything nice. She makes it clear on day one! loved her class
One of the best professors. Very easy to talk to. Very detailed lectures that help you understand content very well. She is kind, patient and absolutely supportive. Very fair exam. I will take courses with her for sure.
She is an amazing human being. She caught people cheating and gave them a chance to either drop the class or face consequences. Wow, huge respect that she said my intention is to teach you a lesson not to punish you. An awesome educator too. Hats off to her for being the most humble yet so highly qualified professor. Highly respected professor!
I admire this professor's patience more than anything. It was embarrassing to hear my fellow students nonsense, not reading instructions and asking basic questions explains tons of the time not to mention posted as well. She never lost cool. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and just wrote final exam. Tests are fair based on what she covered.
She's one of the best teachers I've ever had. Plus she's very accessible outside class sessions (even with the online class). Answers emails with patience. The course is very simple, the lectures super interesting, she posts tons of helpful videos and resources. Show up for live sessions and do your readings. She is very kind and understanding.
She prerecords lectures on Zoom. Audio cuts out for a moment every minute or so. Very annoying. You can opt out of Respondus for the final exam, but you will have a time penalty if you do so. If you email her, expect a one sentence response at best. She's knowledgeable enough, but avoid her classes until COVID-19 is over and in-person resumes.
She's not the most interesting but she explains everything clearly and the class is fairly easy to get a good grade. You do most of your work with a group. She's pretty decent.
Very accommodating and supportive professor, takes the time to answer every single question. Didn't feel like I took an online class. Her lectures are detailed with examples and during live sessions she welcomes questions. No surprises at all, she is very detailed in her instructions and guidelines. Always available to answer questions.
I don't usually write reviews but I made an account just for this. Worst prof I've had in my four years at university. All her lectures were pre-recorded with minimal live contact. Replies to emails in a very rude and unprofessional way. Grades very harshly and refuses to clarify feedback on assignments. Instructions are vague. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Excellent professor, takes the time to answer every single question. Didn't feel like I took an online class. Her lectures are detailed and during live sessions she welcomes questions. I had to write this as the comment below is wrong at all levels. seems like someone who didnt attend live sessions and did bad and decided to rant here.
A wonderful prof! Very patient and fair. Makes the class very enjoyable and always willing to go above and beyond for students . If you are in a habit of missing classes and expect a good grade just by going with lecture or book, forget about that. She tests on what she covers in the class. Also took HR and OB with her and loved her classes.
My favourite professor, hands down. Extremely kind and conveys information in such a clear, concise way. Clearly loves what she does and takes her job seriously. Was really empathetic about the switching online situation- extremely responsive, understanding, and helpful. I wish she taught every class!!
Really nice professor who cares about her students. Very content heavy course but her lectures are engaging and well thought out.
Exceptional professor, expectations are very clear and wants everyone to do well. Exams and assignments are very straight-forward. Highly recommend this professor!
Rumaisa was a very good professor to have for International Business. The lecture content is dry but she tries to relate the topics to real world examples that are currently happened. She provides very good details/feedback for assignments. The midterm and final exams are non cumulative. She is a good professor to get to know.
Great teacher, shares feedback on cases and is pretty clear on what expectations are. What's on the slides and the book is on the midterms and exams, no surprises. Quick to responding to emails to clarify things and makes sure to share announcements so students don't get lost. She takes the time to talk to students after the live sessions are over.
Lectures are pre-recorded and the prof's voice cuts out regularly which makes the class boring and unmotivating. As well, don't expect the prof to respond with more than one-word answers.
I am enjoying the course. I can go through course material and tons of resources professor shares every week as many times I want to. Always get detailed responses to questions during live sessions and via email as well. I do find many do not attend live sessions and then complain when they feel behind. Prof should make attendance mandatory.
The prof uses asynchronous lectures that makes a course which could be interesting, incredibly boring. Assigns case studies that take endless research and endless time because they are so unrelated to course material and marked very harshly.
Good Professor, made cross-cultural course interesting. Cases studies are tough and long. Exam was all based on lectures so religiously go through her lectures. Reading book alone will not help. Attend live sessions as she clarifies points so well if asked.I woudl take another class with her for sure.
Professor Shaukat really made the class unnecessarily difficult. Her International Training and Development for Sustainability class initially sounded like a unique concept and I went into it with the hopes of learning something interesting. The class was fine, but her behaviour and attitude outside of class were offensive. I really felt attacked.
Great teacher, shares feedback clearly and is pretty clear on what expectations are. What's on the slides and the book is on the midterms and exams, no surprises. Quick to responding to emails to clarify things and makes sure to share announcements so students don't get lost.
Amazing professor! Her lectures were great and she made uninteresting topics interesting. There's lots of group work so be prepared for that. Lecture notes are posted online but attending sessions to ask questions for clarification is a must. Midterm and final were light work if you studied. Recommend for sure!
Her sections remained full, I couldn't get in. My roommates were in her section, I knew her as a prof so listened to her lectures not my prof's. Students knew all sections will have the same exams and I had more trust in her than my own prof. I honestly passed this course with an A because of prof. Shaukat and she doesn't even know. Love her!
Prof is knowledgeable but made the class extremely difficult. The final unfortunately did not reflect course material fairly or whatsoever, studying did not make a difference. As normally a straight-A student, despite the hard work I put in this class---none of it paid off because these Profs exams are impossible.
My fav prof. She made boring material interesting, loved her input on HR issues apart from lecture material. Probably one of the best profs at Telfer, highly recommend.
The midterm was alright, the long answer really helped me get a decent mark, although the multiple choice questions in this class are extremely long with each including a paragraph case before the question. I wish the final wasnt only MC so I can better show my knowledge of the topic rather then being right or wrong every question.
I personally find her very fair, and detail oriented. A wonderful person but she is very blunt and is not into pleasing anyone that is for sure. Very helpful and supportive if you put the effort and ask for assistance. Make sure to read instructions and what she posts online. Then you wouldn't have even a single question on anything.
Great prof! really good discussion and made the class interesting despite covid. Not a difficult course, content was very manageable. probably the only professor this semester that really showed how much she actually cares for students.
This professor was the best one I have EVER had in my many years as a student. I had her for many classes during my undergrad. For those who complain about having her, I am sure she feels the same way about you, only you don't have a page on which she can put her thoughtful commentary :)
Very caring and friendly prof. Cares about her students and puts a lot of effort into her lectures. Lectures are 100% necessary. Fair exams. Its my third course with her and I intend on taking her courses if they are in my concentration.
Easy class but she made the multiple choices too similar and if they weren't then they were textbook content. Someone said she is not into pleasing anyone and that is so accurate.
She rounded grades if people were 1-2 points to the higher grade. I emailed assuming I might have done better and was embarrassed to see she made my 72.3 a grade B into a B+ and as far as I know she did that to the whole class. Show up for live sessions, ask questions or you would bomb exams if you rely on memorizing.
She is a fair prof. I remember telling her I took her class after reading comments. she laughed and said make sure to attend sessions, ask questions otherwise you would be among those who would go online to rant after getting their final grade. Now I know what she meant, good comments during the semester and bad comments after the final exam :D
Such an amazing professor. The lectures are interesting and nice to attend. However, the professor does use PowerPoint presentations to present lectures. Sometimes the slides has little to no information on them so you must pick up key information. Other than that, the professor is a real gem. Differently recommend.
Not a bad prof, but get ready for 3+ hour long recordings of a 1.5 hour class, with lots of irrelevant rambling/extremely slow talking. Slides offer very little information so you'll probably have to read the textbook if you wanna do good. Lots of easy group projects to grade boost though.
I think I would have enjoyed this class even more if we had it in person. I think that the prof is really sweet and puts in a lot of effort in her lectures. As long as you put in the work and understand the material you should be good for the midterm and final.
Amazing professor! Super involved in everything and loves helping her students achieve their goals. Truly one of the best professors I've ever had.
I had this prof last semester online, and this semester in person. She knows the content she's teaching incredibly well and is an engaging teacher. I always enjoy her classes!
I look forward to seeing if I can take more classes with her in the future this was my only in person class last semester and she made it worth coming to campus. I really enjoyed her teaching method. She was kind and understanding throughout the whole semester and I appreciate how she gave us a say in certain parts of the course when she could.
This Prof is a walking library, I am a mature student and have many degrees already. I must say I am impressed with her knowledge and social skills. Very humble and down to earth person but has no issue being blunt either. Very clear in her expectations, very organized. Faculty needs more professors like her.
She was my favourite professor this and last semester. Her group case assignments weren't too harsh and the material was clear. Would definitely take her again as a prof if I can in the future.
This professor is top notch. I can not say enough good things about her. She is incredibly well spoken. She explains concepts and is firm but fair. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend taking any class that she is instructing.
Very easy to follow, lectures were extremely well structured and delivered; she is obviously passionate about the course. Very accommodating and understanding. I would definitely take courses with her.
don't understand why she got such a good rating... her slides contain 0 useful information and tough exams...
She might be an amazing professor in person but for an online class, her recording lectures are not useful for her exams. Her slides are also not very useful for the exams either.
Probably the worst prof I've had so far. She's very unprofessional and arrogant. The lectures are very bland and just reads off of her slides which are of little to no help to learn the actual course material. Definitely would not recommend.
The course is fairly easy but the prof is very difficult to deal with. She tries to make things unnecessarily difficult. Her replies to emails are rude and unprofessional. Does not follow a clear grading scheme and does not clarify feedback on assignments. Avoid her if you can. The class is easy. It's not worth it putting up with her behavior.
She is a great professor and very fair, I have never had anyone so accommodating and felt many students were trying to get advantage by not submitting work on time. She eventually started refusing any late assignment without extension requests and that made lazy ones unhappy. I would definitely take her courses as I learned a lot.
A decent teacher might try to make her slides less complicated. The course is relatively simple but the teacher will tend to make it more complicated especially her exams. She may seem harsh but she is really nice as long as you work.
Very organized professor and a wonderful person. Her course outlines are almost 25 pages with rubrics for each and every deliverable so whoever says its not clear has not read the syllabus. If you don't follow instructions or take multiple reminders seriously or ask for extension on time, she is not flexible on accepting late work.
Excellent Professor and a very approachable person. She explains the material extremely well. She is a very fair marker and clearly outlines what you need to know in order to well. Read/listen to her instructions carefully whether in person or posted online. Attend her lectures as they often indicate what topics are important.
The course was very easy but her feedback was minimal and she was often quite passive-aggressive. The Prof often mentioned how busy she is (in the syllabus, in multiple emails, and even in her final feedback) which I felt was a strange move for a professor. Class is an easy A, though.
I loved the professor, course is theory heavy but she makes it easy to understand. Project and exam was based on what she taught. Do not miss classes or you wont do well on the exam as she tests on everything covered in the class regardless of the book. I learned a lot.
Disrespectful to her students, cancels classes without valid reason or advanced notice. Wost professor I have had at Telfer. Avoid at all costs!
Kind, accommodating and fair. She added extra points to every single student in the class after noticing majority didnt do well on some questions. She always comes in an hour early for the class and sits in the lobby, always available to meet if needed. I had very meaningful discussions on HR issues and I appreciate the insights she shared.
Professor is not helpful and would not help students out after issues with the midterm. Would not answer my emails and gave me a hard time with asking questions.
I really liked the course, I feel like a lot of the material can actually be applied in the real world for your benefit. She teaches it well and communicates expectations clearly. Would take her again for sure! Great prof
I type this review with the utmost respect. when it comes to communication and fairness she has been by far the best professor. Every important piece of information is readily available and clearly communicated in a timely manner - her course should be a benchmark for how other courses are organized. Kind and supportive overall.
Prof is honestly very kind and is easy to talk to. Her lectures are easy to understand. TA marks everything but she is open to listen to students and talks to the TAs on regrading. Overall, great class and great prof. It is not hard at all to get an A.
A lot of group projects. She's honestly one of the greatest profs ever. Super caring and sweet. Understands her students struggle as well. Def recommend her class. She doesn't post lecture notes though so attendance is mandatory although everything she says is in the textbook.
proctored/cumulative midterm and final even though they are online. loved the lectures and the way she teaches.
Very difficult prof to deal with.
Professor Rumaisa is one of the nicest professors I have met, she's always ready to help and go over confusing topics and does whatever she can to help us prepare for the midterm and final exam. Definitely take her if you can!
Professor Rumaisa is kind and accommodating. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she's always available to help. While the course material is challenging, using resources like unstuckstudy ai and the free textbook can make it manageable. I'd definitely take her class again.
Extremely knowledgable and conveys the subject matter with enthusiasm. Class materials was conveyed in real–world language. Assignments were unconventional and covered various aspects of leadership, with self–reflection being a big part of all assignments. Prof challenged us without creating an environment of anxiety or stress.
I salute her patience. Very clear in her expectations, all you need to do is read the course outline and check online modules. Her lectures are great, she doesn't even look at her notes and explains things very well. I found her fair and very supportive but strict in terms of applying rules stated in the course outline.
Best tips. There are a couple concepts only seen in the textbook and at least one person in your group needs it to be able to do anything for the case studies. ChatGPT can be used to explain her slides as they are very well done so if you really don't want to you don't need to attend but I would still highly recommend. Bad teammates = BAD time
Overall very patient and organized. Read syllabus and instructions online before sending emails. She will either send you page numbers where it is already explained or will show you in the class in front of everyone LOL
Great professor, always looked forward to the class. Assignments are practical and exams are fair. Learned very hands on skills for training and development.
Great instructor, amazing personality, effective delivery of information. she makes you love the subject even if you have no interest. I have never had this much instructor presence in an online course.Always available and gives very detailed feedback on course work.
Yes, she is very blunt, and will tell you things exactly how they are, but that is only if it is necessary. Her expectations are super clearly outlined, so you know exactly how to succeed in the class. The midterm was very easy, and straightforward. You would do great on it if you follow the study guide she provides.
