Tests are rough, but cool teacher!
Textbook he uses sucks royaly, other buslaw teachers use a much better textbook
No Comments
fails everyone on the exams, curves though, don't take him!
He's sucks. Don't take him unless you really have a desire to learn law.
One of the most difficult undergrad business class
Hard tests, but excellent teacher
TOUGH tests; 3 questions on seven chapters!! gives xtra credit

Tests are WAY TOO HARD. TOO Much info to learn in that class
really nice man and interesting teacher but tests are a pain, he grades too hard
He is a really cool teacher in class, but his test are so hard, everyone fails!
Very challenging class, good teacher, grades hard, but very generous curve
Difficult course, good curve though, final will be optional!
only needed 30 points for a B and took the optional final still go a C too hard!
nice guy, very helpful, interesting class, great curve, lots of info to remember.
He's a good teacher, but difficult indeed!
AVOID at ALLLLL costs!!!
Great guy, very interesting class.Tests r hard, fair grader. do case studies.
Never take his class, his exams nobody passes and assumes us as lawyers

VERY HARD!! Tries to teach life leason. He sucks. Test are too hard
Hard first test, easy second test, and optional final make the class easy.
Very set in his ways nice guyGet a good grade on first two tests & call it a sem
study old tests, feels like you are failing, and then a curve
final optional. huge curve. does not give plus or minus grades.
I'm finishing my third year, only c EVER
VERY intelligent. Tests VERY hard. Out of 200 points 103 was a B for 2 tests.
1st test hard. 2nd test easier final optional I took it needed 6 pts 4 B igotC
Inteligent, hard tests, study and you can get a B
very knowledgable,but very hard!Tests are 4-5 ?s worth 100pts. tons of readi
Difficult coursework, but just go to class, read and listen makes it simple
F'ed up examples Hard tests, so cool i will call him culo
TRY TO AVOID hard unresonable curves but still almost impossible A, stress out for a B, hope for a C, can't ask y u got that score, set in his ways, some humor, somewhat interesting subject, HE JUST MAKES IT HARDER THAN SHOULD BE
He's a funny guy,so it misleads you to think he's cool, his tests are easy if you know every detail, but hard if you can't articulate everything into an understandable answer in a small amount of space. Some people do very well in the class and some don't.

ok guy. optional final. test are hard but curves for test are low. just take good notes. funny guy!
Good teacher. Knows alot. Has VERY high expectations of students in class. Optional final and generally low curves. Not the easiest teacher in the world, but you will learn.
class sux! can't understand the guy. test are hard and curve is low. try to avoid if possible.
Very Hard!! Expects you to know everything about law
He is very hard, but his curve is great
Good teacher with deceptively hard tests. If you study the stuff he emphasizes you'll succeed. Had to sit in the front of the class to hear him. I did well on the first 2 tests I didn't need to take the final! Overall interesting lectures, and nice guy.
This guy knows his stuff. He made wheelbarrows full of money in his working days for sure. The exam's are diffulcult. If you want to learn something about tort's and law, this is your man. Curves blah blah blah. Take him if you want to learn. Period.
Very interesting guy. Look how many students have taken time to comment on him. If you study hard, you'll do fine.
Too hard!! Funny at times but not worth your grade. Most people are happy with a C in this class.
Professor does not teach in any organized fashion and is hard to follow at times. Best piece of advice is to take good notes!!
learned the most out of any class i have taken, tests are verryyyyyy hard so be ready, go to every class and take really good notes, either love him or hate him
Very hard class, but easy to get a C. The final is optional-he doesn't tell you until the last day of class.
This man has mental issues. He enjoys watching students fail. His tests are outragous, he only gives you 20 minutes to answer three essays. I missed an entire question just because I spelt one word wrong
Curves are huge.. do bad on the test and still come up with a C. Hard to follow the lecture at times. Tests are crazy hard, outlining the chapters really help. Do well on first 2 tests and dont take the final.
All you have to do in this class is go to class and pay attention to everything he says especially when he writes on the board. Take good notes. Have to very specific wording on tests. Tests are hard but can still get a C.
This guy is aweful. He told me to study certain information then put none of it on the final. Wish I could have rated him NEGATIVE on the helpfulness scale. Complete ****ing ****.
Completely lacking in structure and organization. Topics seem to fly in from all over the place. There is no clear progression. If you work VERY hard, you can still do fine. I really do do not encourage you to take him. Illogical at times.
tests are based on lectures and answers must be verbatim in order to receive full credit. his lectures are confusing and he goes off on tangents. assigns readings from the book but studying the text for tests is pointless.
Loves to see students fail. He's not organized and isn't very helpful. Hardly ever writes on the board and picks on people to answer questions. Only 20 min for test essays.
go to lectures and take VERY good notes, gives essay tests where you need to answer verbatim, very unclear, barely writes anything on the board, not very helpful but he knows what he's talking about, he just needs to learn how to teach properly
The class is very informative. You'll learn a lot, from a very intelligent attorney. He is also genuinely a nice guy (even offered legal advice in the future in return for an update on our lives post grad school!). Exams are all essay, study the samples
He likes his answers to be word for word on the tests, but has a generous curve. Nice guy, and if you do good in the first 2 tests you won't have to take the final.
Very interesting subject matter. You must attend class and write down everything he says. Only study what he talked about in class and know it perfectly.
write down EVERYTHING. 1st midterm will ask cases questions, make sure to know the ISSUE. he also will ask to know some terms. 2nd midterm, you will have to know EVERYTHING in contract (ch 8 and 10). study well for these exams. FINAL IS OPTINAL
my FAVORITE and most challenging class yet! take down all notes word for word, 2 Exams + optional final, know everything backwards and forwards for an A, work hard early, it pays off when you get out of his class a month before finals week.
if you want to get a good grade in this class. write down notes, try to get old test and study them. if you do well on these test ont take the final. don't tell him that you know that fianl is optinal.
good cruve, but he likes to see you fail. Don't take him!
All essay test. Good curve however every answer must be word for word. He is a Tant.
I took him a while ago and i'm happy to see he still teaches bizlaw.Awesome guy.Now I realize this class is a bit much for newbies to college and law, but you will get something out of this class. somehow I managed an A.If you hate all your biz classes, this will be the ONE you enjoy.it was my one
Sit close in class because he talks quietly. Make sure you write down everything word for word on tests. The tests are pretty much testing your memorization skills. There are 2 exams and an optionaly final, he doesn't tell you its optional till a week before the final so don't ask him about it. If possible, try to take a different professor.
hard to hear him at times, sit close. tests are hard unless you memorize all the notes and cases from the book. good curve, but take someone else if possible
damn hard class, but i liked because he was the first professor to actually challenge me. i think i got two B+'s on the midterms, but somehow wound up with an A, so really good curve. like him alot
This class will take you for a ride, but if you are on the good end of the curve, it is worth it. Know all definitions and concepts word for word and sit near the front(But not too close bc he will call on you). The curve was great but I honestly felt so lost in this class the whole time. Good Luck if you decide to take this guy!
Probably the most difficult prof I have ever had, hardly any homework, but I put more effort into that class than any of my other classes and pulled a C. Be prepared to have to memorize the entire law book word for word if you want to pass the class. He is an awesome teacher but he makes you work ridiculously hard to get a decent grade on the tests
heavy workload, smart guy, HARD material. 2 tests and optional final-- but he won't tell you until the end of the semster. take it at grossmont...all fin240 teachers are really hard
You academically challenged whooses. This guy is great...so you actually have to study and really know stuff...i got a B and didn't put in 100%...that means it's very do-able. Very interesting..just take him.
I don't know what you guys are talking about, if you study and go to the office hours, it's very easy, I got an A.. no sweat!
good teacher , pay attention in class .. TAKE GOOD NOTES , good curve for exams and the final is optional . talk to him for help. he seems hard and unapproachable but hes nice and helpful.
Please dont take this class....i made a big mistake not taking Graf. Block is an old deaf guy that doesnt explain anything. You have to write all answers word for word on the tests...no kidding! In order to do good you would have to litterly memorize the book and re-write it on the test... I just got a 35/100 on the first test...are you kidding me?
I personally despise this class. you have to memorize word for word from the notes and the book in order to pass his exam. he would not give partial credit if you try to explain things in your own words in his exam! even though he curves it, it can either improve or BREAK your crade. dont trust his curve! if most people do well and your the few who
He does curve the exams but even though he curves it, it's still unfair. it can either improve or BREAK your grade. 1 time on the 1st exam he curved it to where the lowest B is 62 or something. then on the second exam curve the lowest B became a 92. thats pathetic! if some or most students does well n your the few who does bad then you're screwed!
STAY AWAY! Exams consist of around five to six short questions. You either know the answer word for word, or you are screwed. There is a curve, but it still doesn't take away for how hard of a grader he is. Take anyone else, if all other classes are full take FIN 240 at a JC or wait a semester.
This Class wasn't so bad. I'll even reccomend him; he's a funny guy and although there is a lot of hardcore note taking, its college, and you end up learning a lot of valuable info. Don't listen to these other pussies, Block's cool.
Wow, it really is as tough as most reviewers say it is. I studied harder for this class than any other I have had at SDSU and still only got a C+. The optional final was nice. You have to memorize all of the cases in the book, as well as those mentioned in class, in addition to memorizing all of the legal stuff. Have fun!
Hardest class ive had in college. Studied and went to class, had a boarderline C/D before final. Got a D in the class. Im re-taking this with Graf so i can actually pass. Block is deaf and inconsistent with grading, i caught many errors on my tests that he looked over and after arguing with me, realized he was wrong. Enjoy memorizing the book!
RIDICULOUS class! seriously, hardest class I've ever taken. his tests were strict memorization and he doesn't allow for any ****. you never really know what to study, there's far too much material to cover. DO NOT TAKE HIM! take graf!
A tough course, but if you go to most classes, take extremely good notes, read the relevant cases and are not afraid to ask questions you should do fine. Two mid-terms with five essay questions on each, mainly memorization, be precise when answering cause he is a strict grader, but on a curve. Def. go to review classes. Final was optional. Funny gu

Hands down the hardest teacher I've had so far. I had a 3.45 GPA before this class and I got a D. Lets you know some of what's on the tests and does have a huge curve, but answers must be almost word for word. Go to class, read the book, and GOOD LUCK!!
Please DON't take this class with him!!! His tests are 5 short essay answers he wants WORD-WORD answers and he wants it the way he says it no the book's way. His class is really boring. He grades on a curve which help but still most people fail the exams. GOOD LUCK!! but DON'T TAKE HIM
I have been an honors student for years. This is probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Every sentence has to be exact. Every question you are asked in class is an opportunity for ridicule. He is the most difficult grader ever. You are an idiot if you read this and still sign up for this class.
This class was ridiculous! I ended up with my first D ever. His tests are strictly memory or EXACT words. You can't **** them at all. You can know the topic perfectly yet forget a few key words and you'll bomb the test.

ha ha ha! people who say he's hard are probably those looking for an easy A. this class is not easy but if you go to class and take good notes, it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. and of course he expects concise answers, it's a law class. change around the words and you change around the meaning. so study and good luck!
I honestly like Professor Block..yeah his test are memorization and sometimes you get confused, but I found it interesting how just one word could make or break a case. Those who fail either didn't show up or read.. it's college you have to stuy for exams... they dont just hand out diplomas or everyone would have one.
have to admit,i was intimidated at first, but it makes you want to learn the material so you dont get embarrassed in class.he's incredibly funny and sarcastic.tests are super easy if you go to class and go over the reading a few times.he really tries to help you if you plan on owning a business some day.i want to get involved with law because of him
good teacher, knows what hes talking about, tests (and sometimes quizzes) aren't hard at all if you go to class and pay attention to the different laws, hes super funny and cracked me up every class, take him if you actually want to learn Business Law
Professor Block is an amazing teacher. He really knows what he is talking about and seems to have everything memorized in the book. You have to attend lectures, take very good notes, and pay great attention to what he emphasizes. Tests can be a little difficult. Study your NOTES!
This class may seem intimidating but its actually quite easy. I got a perfect score on all tests. All you have to do is show up to class and take notes on his lecture. For the test, all you have to study is what he covered in class. AS long as you take good notes, you'll be set for the class. It definitely takes a lot of work, but hey it's college.
Doesn't use blackboard. Makes the subject more interesting with a bit of humor. However, if you miss one key word or forget to explain two possible senarios it's an automatic drop of 1 or two letter grades on a test. Exams are basically all or nothing with 5-10 questions. Most unforgiving professor in my educational career.
Anyone who says Block is unreasonable likely didn't go to class very often. Choose a class time that you can make and you will do fine. Tests are not that bad just make sure you have all the notes from lectures to study.
Horrible horrible professor. Talks to quickly and expects you to memmorize every word of every page of the book. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVERRRRRR!
He uses the Harvard Case Method style of teaching but he is no good at moderating a class discussion. He jumps around too much and confuses people about what rules belong to what statute, etc. I don't recommend him at all.
Funny guy. Not as bad as he seems.
Class isn't nearly as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Yes, you do have to be pretty exact with what you write on exams. Just go to class, take notes and have him check them. Every once in awhile he'll tell you exam questions in class and they DO show up. Block is nice and very funny. Great professor. Doesn't deserve these low ratings.
Block is one of the best teachers I will probably ever encounter during my time here at SDSU. Everything he taught us was accompanied by such a ridiculous example that I could not forget it. He made class so interesting with all his jokes. Getting an A Just requires you to take good notes. He grades on improvement.
Genuinely cares about the students but ask a lot of them. Funny teacher.
Awesome person, horrible professor! He's deaf and practically whispers in class. Impossible to hear when he's on the other side of the room. PAY ATTENTION and attend EVERY class! Take good notes and have him check them. Pretty fatty curve at the end but still hard to pass class. Show him that you care and he'll have more sympathy.
Awesome Prof...material is hard to absorb but READ YOUR BOOK, DO THE BREIFS, and the best piece of advice: GO TO CLASS! Missing 1 class will set you behind ALOT! He gives sample midterm questions IN CLASS and you take your own notes so it's helpful to be there for the lecture. Hard material but HUGE curve at the end. DONT GIVE UP
though class
Best teacher I've had at SDSU yet the hardest class I've taken. You'll learn a lot, the class is interesting, and he makes it as fun as it can be. If you can't take it online, I'd take Block. The class is meant to weed people out of the Business Admin so get ready to work.
This is a class designed to weed out the students who can't make it in upper division. It is hard, graded on a curve, and competitive. The good news is that Block is an awesome teacher. You'll find out what you need to know in lecture/reading. Attendance is mandatory, you need to take notes. Good class. I learned a lot.
hmmm have you noticed that all the bad reviews are from stupid people who can't even spell? the class is "tough" not "though" and it is difficult to do well not good. THis is college, not a dingy highschool, get with the program. It's called studying. If you want to learn your stuff and be successful in law, take this class.
I was very skeptical at first, but this class turned out to be one of the best I've taken at SDSU so far. READ the material, GO to class, ASK questions, and you'll do just fine. The class has a huge curve so it's easy to do better than those who don't take it seriously. Professor Block makes the material relevant and interesting. Awesome class!!
EXTREMELY difficult class. Great teacher, genuinely cares, truly wants you to do well. Grades are based on improvement, and based on 3 exams. Go to his office hours and show him you truly care and try and he will give you a good grade. All exams based on notes. HUGE curve.
Very hard class, take good notes. You have to really know everything word by word for the exams. 2 exams, no final (although he mentioned it only right before we were going to take it). Huge curve!!!
He is a very interesting professor but his class is very hard. I really enjoyed the class but couldn't memorize everything exactly how he wanted me to so I barely did not pass...I'm not upset about having to retake it because he presents everything in a way that makes you want to go to class. He grades on a HUGE curve and wants everyone to do well
He is good teacher. The course is good too. But the exams are tough. You really need to read the book (and remember it as well). I would have appreciated if the exam was open book.
Difficult class, you really have to put in a lot of effort but you will get a ton out of it. Professor is hard on the students but only because he really wants you to understand the material. One of my favorite professors I have had at San Diego State!
Really difficult, but he is by far my favorite professor at SDSU.I got a D on my first test because i didnt try hard enough.I got A+'s on both of the next tests by putting in the right effort. HAVE to read the book..go to every class. Take word for word notes. He makes you want to learn.GO TO OFFICE HOURS! he clarifies and guides you towards tests.
One of my fav teachers at sdsu. The class is hard and you HAVE to go to class to get an A, all of his tests are off the notes. If you are willing to do the work and pay attention in lecture, it pays off and he is so hilarious. Loved the class, it was challenging but made me so much more interested in the subject.
