Russell is a good teacher, he was embroiled in a research ethics problem @ UBC a few years back... he wasn't backed by the school when he should have been. Good teacher, believes all kids that do bad can B redeemed. Approchable teacher too.

He sometimes makes wacky comments, but at their root they are quite witty. He gives a lot of written assignments, but he is a very fair marker. He is always available for students and to engage in conversation. A great instructor.

easy tests if you study and listen in class, essay's are a bit tougher because he likes headings, clear thesis statements, and proper citations. Gets you think for yourself and question everything....

Very cool teacher, has a good sense of humour, laid back. Tests are pretty good they are easy as long as u read your readings, interesting term paper,gives good weekly summary of material! Overall an awesome teacher, I would definatly recommend him:)

his exams are really easy. mostly mc's, or mc's with only 2-4 short answers. gives good notes. hands out chapter summaries. likes to share his experience/stories wif us. but hes really strict on the term paper. overall good course

A very hard marker for term paper. If u try to wing it, u're dead meat. Great prof, funny.

I'd recommend him. Be aware of high expectations for the term paper and follow all instructions.

The best prof I've ever had. There's very few profs that would take a couple hours out of their own time to help you improve your essay. My first essay was crap but after I got some pointers, I got an A on the final essay. Great guy.

VERY VERYYYYY hard marker, expects tooo much in essays and isnt clear about what hes expecting.i recommend taking his class if u LOVE to write notes because thas all we did the entire 3 hours WRITE NOTES!..he cant explain very well but enough to get by..his exams arent as difficult as his essays..

Russel is one of the best teachers I have. His lectures are great and the notes he gives help u to follow the lecture and are great to look back on when u are studing.U have to work to get a good grade in his class but he makes class fun. He is also a very fair marker and give the grade you deserve

Yep, gives lot of notes which are handy for tests. He tells U that if U read the book U probably won't need to write everything down. Good prof. Nobody HAS to take notes.

Russel Ogden is very good teacher. He notes are very good and helpful for the tests. If you do your readings and study the notes you will do good on his tests. He has a great sense of humor and he isn't a boring professor. Hes always looking for ways to make his class better. Take him!

all i can say is...the only reason y i'm giving russel a good commentary is because i got a C and i'm glad i got that..and in general his class is pretty ok but he's really down to university style stuff so u guys better be prepared for a hardcore class..anyways take him for he is a good teacher:)

He's an awesome teacher, and he actually cares about the students- how they feel about certain test dates, questions, etc... He is also a very personable guy, with a great sense of humour. I never missed one class, because they were so interesting, and I learnt so much each time.

Study the vocab on weekly chapter summaries for easy mark on tests.Essay marking is brutal. But this is university, not highschool. Funny jokes. Pretty casual guy to talk to.

Russel's alright. The important thing is to simply attend class and take the boring overhead notes. If you do this, you won't have to refer to the even more boring text all too often. His tests are extremely easy but he is a fairly hard marker when it comes to papers (but not THAT hard).

Course content is very easy and interesting. Just read chapters and should be okay for test because tests are easy. The only thing you should be aware of is to make sure you don't do crappy on paper. Otherwise great class with very hot teacher!

Fun interesting v interesting topics

the death course is actually very fun!

Really amazing teacher who is genuinly interested in the material he teaches. Also, he's super hot. The tests are easy if you pay attention in class and he really likes to get people talking.

One of the best teachers I have had. Tells you exactly what he wants, and how. No unexpected surprises come tests or quizzes. Interesting backround (bring up assisted suicide). Really good guy, very interesting class. I HIGHLY recommend.

Russel's sense of humor is a bit odd but you can always get a good laugh. He gives you a detailed outline on what will be on exams so that is very helpful. He is a harder marker when it comes to essays so if you mess up once, it's great to take his guide and give him what he wants. Also, he likes participation so speak up!

First time course was offered, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Not too much work expected throughout the semester, might have been nice to have a classroom debate on the issue, with 1/2 pro, and 1/2 against, but I would definately take a class with this teacher again... Not an "easy" prof, but very clear in expectations, and very accessable.

Very professional, fun teacher, he is very knowledgeable in his field of study. His stories are interesting and classes are not at all boring. Tests are easy. Make sure you make an effort to participate. The only hard part is the essay and term paper where many ppl get low grades. Make sure u ask for the format.I believe he scales marks,quite fair

Russel is very intrested in what he teachs which makes the class more intresting. His exams are extremely easy, just go over the notes and the readings. The text books he uses are also easy to read. I would recomend this class/prof. to anyone

I enjoyed this class the discussions were interesting and he always kept my attention. Do not take this class if you do not want to speak up because he encourages/forces class discussions. 1st in class essay everyone does bad on, tests are easy if you put the work in, and final paper is fairly difficult.

"Thinkng" people will enjoy this teacher. He challenges you to think and re-think.

This prof is very interesting. his class discussions are always fun and interesting, but he likes it when you participate (get on his good side). his first essay no one does good on it, but his tests are really easy if you go over the notes he does in class (which are clear).i looked forward to go to this clasS! take it!
