If it's available with Alder, take it with Alder. Office hours are a joke. Any question slightly harder than basic comprehension will get you the vaguest answer, leaving you wondering why you are paying money for profs who don't know the content. He often has to look up the answers for even the basic questions. I understand why he always wants us to see TAs. Coursework is fine; prof not so much.

Dr. Day is a very caring prof as he grades 6/8 quizzes and 3/4 exams. He understands that students are struggling with the online environment and he is very accommodating. I can't think of an issue with Dr. Day as his TA selection is good as well as his quizzes as they are based off the book. His lectures can be dry at times though.

I've taken both Psych 100 and 102 from him, both online, and they were my favourite classes both semesters. Professor Day's class, even though very textbook heavy, was a lot of fun. Online we had class meetings to ask our questions twice a week and all of the lectures were pre-recorded. Overall amazing prof, 10/10 would take again!

Dr. Day had short 30 minute lectures online, which were non-mandatory, but he gave previews about what we would be learning. Tests and quizzes were fair as long as you take time to read the textbook. We had open-book assessments, and he removed a test and two quizzes if you did poorly! But he definitely has a higher grading scale.

I got good vibes from Russell! Obviously a class with 400 people is not very personal and you do basically teach yourself from the textbook, but the quizzes/tests/assignments are very reasonable and I had a good experience in this class.

Honestly, this is supposed to be a 100 class. The difficult resembles a 300 course. He isnt generous with the markings, doesnt teach in class (you watch lecture videos instead) and doesnt give you enough information for assignments. Dont take this class for a good mark.

This course definitely does not feel like a level 100 course. Although he drops 2 quizzes, 1 test, and 1 assignment, you are basically learning solely through the textbook. Lectures mostly consist of q&a and they do not really go over the content of the course. Lecture times will also be mainly test or quiz time. Would not recommend this prof.

Literally ruined my life. tricked into taking this class as I thought it was an intro/first year psyc class. weekly quizzes, so much reading, biweekly exams and timed in class-essay writes, also a couple difficult/time consuming assignments. Literally terrible despite my best efforts. should not be a level100 course only worth 3 credits. horrible

This guy does not teach, going to lectures is a waste of time and all the work is textbook based. Quizzes every week, exams and timed in-class writing assignments biweekly. Literally cannot catch a break. He gets upset when you don't show up to lectures but he doesn't do anything anyways lol. Don't take this class with him hehe.

I took PSYC100 with Dr Day as an elective; If you're not committed to reading 30-40 pages a week, You will have a very hard time surviving as there are weekly quizzes/bi-weekly exams. He doesn't teach during his lectures, so the whole course is pretty much self taught which is super disappointing. Overall very difficult for an intro psych course :/

Great start from psyc100 failing almost everything because he doesnt teach! maybe with a lot of self teaching you can get a good mark but not doable when you have other classes too. Not worth it if you dont like reading or memorizing the whole the whole damn textbook bruh

Seems like a great guy, but he doesn't teach during lectures. Pretty interesting material sometimes, but lots of reading and memorizing to do all on your own. Lots of quizzes and a couple exams, but the in person writing assignments were the worst. Was excited for this class but only ended up happy that I didn't choose to major in psychology.

Honestly, if you do the readings weekly that are around 30 pages, take notes and understand the big ideas youll be fine. He drops the lowest exam scores, the only difficult part was the written assignments that the TAs marked extremely hard for a 100 level class.

He never taught anything in lectures, just made us read the textbook and expected us to know it like the back of our hand. He basically ran the class like an online one. I dont recommend him !

Honestly, exams are quite fair as long as you literally read everything in the text. Its hard to get a high mark on weekly quizzes considering theres only 12 questions, and you cant go back and change your answers. The hardest part were the in class essays, as you only have 30 minutes to write it, but the TAs mark as if you had 3 hours.

In the fall and spring terms of 2022 Dr. Day did his class as a flipped course, meaning the lectures were online for you to watch on your own and then you came to class for assessments and question . He has received comments like this " He never taught anything in lectures, just made us read the textbook" are from students who didn't listen.

Professor Day’s class is nearly impossible to get a good mark in. All assessments have had a average of 50%-60%. He assigns around 2-3 chapters per unit exam and finds the smallest details to put on them. If you want a good mark in this class you need to put at least 2-3 hours a day into studying for it

Exams were fair, be prepared to read the textbook & memorize every small detail. No need to go to lectures or watch his videos. Marks depend on the TA for writing assessments but they marked harshly with little feedback & never replied to any of my emails. Also he gives very confusing topics for the writing assessments so it dropped everyone's mark

Day's recorded lectures are pretty dry but informative and get points across. But his in-person lectures are more hit or miss since he expects the heavy lifting to be done by his recorded ones. His tests, assignments and quizzes are challenging but mostly fair since they pull from the textbook.

He has lots of options to earn a good grade ( through quizzes , tests , and in class writes ) and everything is pulled straight from the textbook. Nice and so funny ... but his class is not marked on par with other intro first year classes, and his TAs mark in-class assignment harshly and there isn't a lot of feedback. If you read the chapters and memorize the little details (because that one little idea WILL be on the exam!) you will be fine. Also, don't bother watching the videos.
