Class was intense through most of the semester with quizzes every week plus six papers due throughout the course. Effective instructor and an extremely rewarding class.

I think he should be the easiest pro for ESL, since essay only count 75%. Try your best on quiz.It could puch your grade up a lot. The topic for in-class writing usually is given ahead which is one of the topics of the informal writing.

Dr.Frank is always best professor to get them through the ESL class, he treats students very nice and keep patience to teach. He is caring for every student as long as u ask him. No matter for u don't understand somethings, he will be patient and appreciate u ask him . On the other hand, he is handsome young man would make everyone love him at all!

He is really a good professor. Care about his students. I learn a lot from him. Before take his class, i don't know hot to write a 5 pages essay and 7 pages research. Prof. Frank is an excellent Professor! Be prepared to work very hard for your grade though. Six essays, and a very difficult final (2/3rds was take home, but not the easy kind). Definitely worth the time and energy. He makes the class pretty fun and laid back and it's easy to ask questions if you don't understand. LEARN IPA!

Dr.Russel is always through the best!!! Attention:If people who want to receive a B without CR(non-credit), please take him, he is patient and kindness teacher that can give everyone a satisfy grade as well! you can learn and receive a lot of writing method and the research paper would teach everyone how to write a good college paper.

He is a really nice and helpful teacher than others in ESL department as he tries use his own way to teach everyone, even he has a strongest patient to answer all of questions from students. From bottom of my heart, i eternally thankful for his help during the hardest time of my life!

Dr Frank is an excellent teacher for sure, he has very good lecture and lots of hw will help you practise on your writing. But he is a strict and careful techer which show up on check reserch paper by solving every tinest problem (Th MLA, resources, parapraph, topic sentence, thesis...) Ovel, he still being an excellent professor!

Dr.Frank is excellent! He is tough on check your essay. He has their unque method on teach compare to other ESL professor. He will not teach until to next year because he told us that he will go to Beijing to have a culture trip and continue to explore the deepest knowledge of China. Overall, he is great! Super great!

You seriously have no reason for not taking Dr Frank's class, he is so nice and will be patient to teach you as long as you can understand how to write a good essay. Grammar quiz isn't hard, keep studying, then you will receive a good grade. Moreover, he will not teach after this summer section until to next year. Recommened!

This is a medium hard class, the reason is that students would very difficult to follow Dr Frank's direction. Most people get a grade that he/she do not want. However, if you keep chllenge on this class, i think you can get at least a C and pass this class. Stink to this class and following Dr Frank's direction. Do homework and practice on grammar!

Dr Frank is a very fair grader. He uses worksheet to check your essay which include thesis statement, grammar and language problem, examples and conclusion. Students need to consider to take him cuz he always help on student and keeps patient in teachingg this class. I learned a lot from 33b class, and learned her moral for being a teacher.

Guys, if you want to really learn a lot, you should better to take Dr Frank, if you just want to waste your time and get an easy class, you should not take. He will give you tons of hwk for practice your reading and writting. Now, I am taking English 1A and I get A, i am thankful for Dr Frank since I had a great time of him, i get B but learn a lot

Dr Frank seems very nice first and u will think this class is intensely interesting. You will feel like to eat candy as sweet as you can enjoy on it. After a few weeks, this class turns out very boring, the group work is just for wasting time and you will suffer with the boring atomsphere. Not a hard class but it is not an interesting class.

Dr Frank is really a knowledgable professor. You can improve your writing skill a lot and enjoy his lecture. He would pay responsible to teach you. he is a funny guy, he hleps you to figure out all of the questions which you have. do all of his assignment then you will pass. if you want get a good grade, then you need to have a good grammar

Mr.Frank is really nice. He know what Asian students' thinking. He'll try to be easy on you, but you have to pay attention on class as the duty of students at least. Just don't be lazy to do the works all he asked, and you will surely pass at least with C to have a happy ending of the semester.

He is nice and helpful.. he explains everything clearly, BUT his homework is way too much..i think it's twice more than other 33b classes...i can't imagine how ppl will survive during short term with such lot of work... also he's lazy to grade the exam and assignmnts..even the midterm grade will come out like almost the end of the smester...

It seems hard at the beginning, so I changed to pass/ no pass. But I actually get an A. There are a lot of homework at first half of the semester. The second half was much easier, since we only focus on research paper in class. Overall, it?s an easy class.

got a B in his class in summer?His lecture is OK.but he is an IRRESPONSIBLE professor.we wrote 5 essays in class,Dr.Frank just graded the first one.His course progress is too slow even could not keep up his class schedule website.so he NEVER gave the opportunity to rewrite.Many works on canvas have not been rated.He focus on another work for money.

Prof. Frank's classes might not be easy and can be considered hard, but either way i'm still taking his class. He's a fair grader and helpful. His homework may be a lot and sometimes you may have a tough time finishing it. But trust me, if you do your part as a student and listen to what he says, you can get C or better.

I took his class in winter term and got an A. If you take his class, you will have a lot of homework or endless homework. But, you will learn a lot. Trust me, if you study hard and do whatever he asks you to do, you will have a good grade. I transferred to UCLA and graduated with 3.9GPA. If you can survive his class, you will succeed in university

Russell Frank is a good teacher. He would tell u anything he knows, although you would feel a little bit hard at the beginning of the semester. Put efforts to this class and it will pay off in midterm, and the second part is Research Paper, in this part you should make up lot informations. Professor Frank will instruct you step by step...

He is an amazing professor. I took his 33A and B, and I received both A. To be honest, his class is not that easy because you will learn a lot of valuable things. It is true that he gives lots of homework. However, it prepares you for Eng 1A or higher level. One thing I didn't like about his class was his late feedback.
