Took this class online. As long as you study, it is very straight forward. Loved the website, it was VERY easy to use. Gave practice exams with written solutions, which was very useful. Did not like to have to come to campus to take exams, but only a few times in the semester. If you have questions, he does respond quickly.

I am terrible at math and always struggle to barely pass. I took Math 45 online with Mr. Hickey and passed easily. Every test was multiple choice! As long as you do the homework and practice exams, you will be fine. He always answered my emails within a day. I would definitely take another math class with him.

i took his class online. I HATE MATH and i actually got the material! :) do the practice tests! those are the 'exams' he gives you. and he does NOT tolerate cheating. he is very helpful and willing to help you. when you're done, you know the stuff forwards and backwards. overall, great teacher.

He was very clear and easy. It seemed like most people got As on his tests. The only thing I would change is that he skipped over some sections or parts of chapter because he didn't think we could understand it. I like a challenge.

Currently teaching at Willow. I must say he is a great teacher when it comes to Math. This class overall is pretty hard, but he explains everything very clearly. All you need to do is print his lecture notes from Blackboard, and do ALL the homework. He is big with attendance, you can only miss 2 days and then he'll start lowering your part. grade.

Awesome teacher. Never a dull moment in class. Explains everything clearly. Challenges those who are late to class to a game of tic-tac-toe on the overhead projector (not making this up). If you have to take Math11, you would be foolish not to take Hickey.

Took the Online 6 Week Summer Course. He warns you there are several hours per week of homework and it's true! It's a brutal class, but Mr. Hickey offers guidance as needed. Very nice instructor! Tests are tough, even with formula cards!

Was pretty sure I was gonna have a hard time passing stats & I ended up with a 98%. Attendance is important, a lot is covered in every lecture. Do all the homework & the practice tests & you'll do fine. He lets you have a notecard for the tests so you don't have to memorize all the formulas & conditions. Highly recommend this teacher. He's very helpful, very nice, & funny in a cheesy classroom appropriate kinda way. Would definitely take him again for any math class.

Mr.Hickey is by far the best professor I've had at Willow International. He makes Calculus so easy to understand and follow along. His method of teaching is ingenious. He wants to see you succeed beyond the classroom and is always willing to help. I was only required to take 5B for my major but because of him I am signed up for 6. Take him!!

Mr. Hickey is a great math instructor! Very clear and even though math isn't an easy topic for most, he made it clear for what he expected his students to know for the exams. This is one of the hardest classes that i have ever taken, but Mr. Hickey is probably the reason why i passed. I really enjoyed his lectures and he will cover what he needs to cover. There is quite a bit of homework, but it is all necessary for your success. If you are willing to put time in then you will be fine in this class.

Great Teacher! Wish I had him in a regular semester. Took him in summer. The material was tough but he goes over the study guide right before the test. Math is not my best and I got out with a C only because I bombed two tests. You have the option to take the final if it will help your grade.

Took him for differential equations and linear algebra. I'd say he is the best math teacher out there if anyone is interested in math. Homework is a must. As long as you do your homework, you'll do fine on the test, since it's similar problems. Hilarious, helpful, and even makes math interesting.

Mr. Hickey really knows his math, he can explain any calculus problem step by step. He allows ti-84 calculators in exams, provides studyguides, NO quizzes, & rewards his students when we do good on exams! He makes math as simple and easy as possible. He will NOT accept late hw or repeat lecture material, will let u retake 1 exam during finals week.

Mr. Hickey is absolutely hilarious and so much fun! Made Trig so easy, it was a walk in the park for me. Very clear teaching style and very helpful! Assigns a lot of homework every day, but has time for Q's before lecture. Practice tests were very helpful and exams had no surprises. I'm certainly planning on taking him again! I had Hickey for math 5b, 6, 17, and 11. He's honestly the best. When took my first math class with him I was a political science major, but I liked his teaching style so continued to take classes with him. I am now a math major. He know what he's doing!

Don't expect his sympathy if you don't do the homework and don't show up to class. He hands out notes at the beginning of each new lecture that are organized and helpful. I don't understand the comments about being a hard grader, while this may be the case every thing that he will knock you down for is completely fair and warned about way ahead of time. I've taken math 11, 5b, 6, and 17 with Mr. Hickey. IF YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND MATH TAKE HIM! He respects his student abilities and that forces you to grow. He has a LOT of homework but once you get to the test you will be happy he made you put in the work BEFORE the test. His practice tests are giant but again, take the difficulty away from the test

Hickey is very clear and precise in his teaching. He does a great job covering every edge case and making sure you don't make very small mistakes that are often missed in a hurry. He is a fantastic teacher, though the only thing I must warn is he assigns a LOT of homework. He teaches in a way that sticks, so I definitely recommend him for math.

Mr. Hickey is a super supportive professor. I've never had another STEM prof who actually tried to boost their students' confidence the way he did. He's obviously passionate about math which makes a huge difference. Homework heavy but the homework prepares you for the exams. Lectures are great and a must because the book tells you nothing.

Monsieur Hickey is a great lecturer--in fact, he was so good that I absorbed the lecture notes via osmosis without even watching them. Even better, no access codes are required for the textbook, so you can just obtain the textbook digitally without paying money for it.

I had Mr. Hickey for Calculus III and Differential Equations in the online format and he is an EXCELLENT instructor. His explanations are thorough and concise and REALLY helpful if you have questions. He cares and is ALWAYS available for help(both zoom and e-mail). One of my favorite teachers every! The material in the class is challenging, but his lectures are thorough and encourages you to come to office hours if you have questions. He does assign more homework than other teachers, but I found it helpful to understand the material.

Professor Hickey is great. I agree that the grade is mostly dependent on tests but his notes are in depth and as long as you study that then you should do great. He makes himself available to his students by having office hours 4 days a week. I like that the notes are all pre-recorded so you can work at your own paste. Overall, I highly recommend.

This class is HARD. The material itself is not too bad but there is a lot of it. Three assignments a week this was definitely a time consuming class. Im still in Mr. Hickeys Math 6 class in person and going to be taking him next semester online as well for math-17, hes an amazing professor, he assigns a good amount of homework so be prepared, if you can take him in person but his online lectures are super well made, he posted past videos so ive seen what they look like. Great professor. Teaches the subject well. Accessible outside of class too if you ever need help with anything. He says jokes often and makes everyone feel engaged during lectures. Your grade is primarily going to be made up of your test scores. Homework assignments help your grade, but only a few percentages. Make sure to spend time studying.

Professor Hickey was amazing! I learned so much in his course, and the structure kept me accountable without feeling overwhelmed. Lectures were engaging, clear, and very easy to follow. Amazing teacher, he actually wants students to succeed, if you do the homework and practice study guides you almost guaranteed to get at least 70 on the exams even if your terrible at exams. He stays after class to answer question until the next class comes in most days. Take him if you have the option you will learn alot and why you do what you do

One of the best professors I've had out of all the different campuses I've learned at. He genuinely cares about you as an individual and as an academic. He dominates at his area of study and likes to make the class fun which can be extremely difficult in these higher calc courses. Definitely recommend taking this guy.

I took is online class. Videos are entertaining. Biggest complaint is that he does not give enough time for exams, most people are barely able to finish, many turn in the exam incomplete.

Mr. Hickey is one of the best professors ive ever had, he is extremely caring and wants you to understand the math. I would take him in person but if you have class confliction, online is still good, just try to test in person, less stressful and a few extra minutes which can help. Hes made me regain confidence in math. Cant say enough good things.

The course takes a huge time commitment and sometimes homework can take 3 hours. 4 tests, 1 can be repeated . I learned a lot in Hickey's class, and his practice tests perfectly prepped for his tests. I appreciated his grading based on work instead of answers since there's so much. Also, his practice tests are great extra credit opportunities that go through everything possible on the test, but you only need to do some for a full grade.

Difficult. Really difficult. However, if you can survive Math 6 & 17 w/ Hickey, you can survive nearly any math or math-adjacent class (excluding Abbott; iykyk). Super caring, good lecturer, funny, and keeps the class interesting. Class is very go-go-go, so I'd suggest only taking one other really hard class with Hickey on your schedule. Good luck!

I have a strong appetite for learning, and this class was not easy. I strived to go beyond what was demanded in most of my classes, and I always put 100% into my work. This professor challenged me in new ways and demanded that I learn and find the extra mile in me to get my well-deserved grade. If you value hard work, take this professor.

Professor Hickey is a good guy. Assignments were due every day except Sunday. It sounds bad at first but it's very doable, considering only things due are lecture notes and homework assignments. Had to take online due to schedule and was still a great class. As with all math classes expect alot of homework. He clearly conveyed complex material in a way that makes sense, only downside was we were not able to cover everything in the course description: parametric surfaces, Gauss's and Stokes's theorems, Jacobian, and the Laplacian.

Professor Hickey has been a great professor. I took Math 6 and Math 17 online, and both were pleasant experiences. These classes do take time, but there really aren't any surprises. Professor Hickey also has a sense of humor, and the general consensus is that having him as a professor for math is very desirable.

I had to take MATH6 and MATH17 online because of my schedule and I couldn't have been more fortunate to have Hickey as my professor. Neither course was easy, it does take concerted effort. If you can, take his class in-person but if you have to take him online his lecture videos are good. Always take the in-person exam, less stressful. 10/10

very engaging lectures and cares a lot about students! very speedy course, so dont fall behind. homework is due at 4 pm or 5 pm, not midnight so that sucks. overall, great professor, hard stuff to learn, but he is great. I had him for Math 6 and Math 17 – both online. Very predictable format – approx. 3 lectures a week and 3 assignments as well. Not the most easiest class, but doing the notes and homework helps. Keeping on top of the work is key. His lectures are understandable. If you can, take the class in-person or at least do the tests in-person. Good luck!

Hickey is a great guy and a solid professor. His class is super easy, honestly a bit too easy. I wouldn't say it is on par with a 4 yr uni difficulty, but it is sufficient. He explains challenging material clearly, pushes you to put in the effort, and is always there to help when you have questions. Professors like these are very rare. Class is rigorous with three lectures a week and exams making up 80% of the grade. However, the professor is very good at explaining Calc 3 from a unique perspective of empathy with students fresh out of other math courses. The structure of the course also helped me retain information greatly.
