A great professor--he is fun and informative, and also hilarious. He even makes statistics class enjoyable and understandable.

I had him for a graduate class. He's good and funny. Some others I enjoyed in Psych were Len Stern and Don Kilburg.

Does a good job of explaining stats while trying to keep the class interested. Is fair in grading and gives good extra credit opportunities

awesome teacher! really fun, likes to crack jokes and tends to get off track. However, he's a great teacher and explains things so you can understand them. Gives you study guides and extra credit like once a week. If you can take this class, I definitely recommend it!

This class was ridiculously easy. You get about 2 credits worth of information in a 5 credit class. If you don't like to be challenged, you'll like this class. All he does in banter. I never went to class and got a 4.0. It can be an easy break in a tough course load, though.

Had him for Trauma Seminar and Trauma Assessment. Very cool guy. Subject is a little depressing, so he likes to lighten the mood now and then by talking music, chit-chatting, and telling stories. Very casual, but knowledgable. Another Prof. who wants us to really LEARN, not just get good test grades. Should take him if you get the chance.

Nicest, most sincere teacher Ive ever met at EWU.. Understanding the concepts/vocab was a little bit hard; math part was easy. Overall, easy class. I got a 4.0. He'll definitely help you learn if you're having trouble. ..He's pretty funny but sometimes he tries to hard. He can tone down the funny.

Best trauma teacher you could ask for. Most approachable teacher in the department. Always humorous. You're taking the wrong class if you're not in one of his. Just take the class and you will see.

I had Kholts for Abnormal Psych. I thought he was an awesome teacher. He made the subject fun and interesting. You could read the book and not go to class and be fine though. On test know which drugs are used to treat what, he wants you to know that stuff. Overall he is a sincere guy, he really want the best for his students. Great Class!

Dr. Kolts is a funny guy! So personable, understanding and helpful! He doesn't take attendence, but it's worth your time to go to class if you want to do well on his tests. I highly recommend you take any class you can with this amazing professor. He is truly interested in his students, passionate about psychology and wants his students to succeed!

Dr. Kolts lecture for Trauma was so interesting that I always wanted to go to class just to see what we were going to learn next. He's an awesome teacher and very passionate about what he does. Super thoughtful and I learned a lot from him, personal and academic growth definitely from this class.

It is not very common to run across an instructor that cares so much about your success. There are only a handful of teachers in your life that will make an impression. Dr. Kolts has. Hands down one of the best profs the psychology department has. EWU is LUCKY to have him! He is passionate about his work, his students, psychology and life. He is the most real down-to-earth person you will ever meet. If you have the opportunity to take a class from Kolts, DO IT!!!! I will carry what I learned from him with me the rest of my life!

Kolt's is the Bees Knees. The guys passionate about the subject, cares about his students, and enjoy being in a classroom environment interacting with the students. I would highly recommend any class with him.

Great teacher! He covers all material and if any slips through he grades fairly. He makes sure everyone understands and is very compassionate. He wants you to get a good grade as well as understand the material that he is so passionate about. Dr. Kolts is a great teacher and also has a book being released in 2012. I'll be reading it.

I was in three or four of his classes back when I was an undergrad and let me tell you, he has been by far the best teacher I've ever had. Right now I'm a 2nd year Master's student and I honestly cannot compare him to any other teacher. He is so passionate about what he teachers and you can really tell that he truly cares about his students.

I have taken several of Dr. Kolts classes. I am now a graduate student I often reflect on how wonderful his teaching was. Do not take it for granted. I would take any class he offered simply because he's teaching it. (even if it was under water basket weaving.) He is phenomenal and Eastern Washington is lucky to have such a high quality professor

Kolts is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. I came into Statistics dreading having to take the class but he has made the experience so much easier and understandable than I ever expected. As long as you GO TO CLASS and do what he says, you will have no problem getting a 4.0. EWU is so lucky to have him!

If Eastern had more teachers like Kolts, it'd be a better school. He cares and it shows. So long as you attend class, all is well and a 4.0 isn't hard. He goes at a pace that works for pretty much everyone and does a superior job explaining the material. Even his "trying to not act old" humor is worthwhile. Excellent professor!

I was lucky enough to have Kolts as my Prof. for stats. he makes a scary topic really digestible. I tell everyone to take at least one class from him before they graduate. It was an honor to be in his class and I wish him all the best!

Kolts is the an amazing professor. He is talented and one of the best professors I have had thus far! He comes to class excited to teach us about something like stats that is not terribly interesting, and somehow makes it interesting! Everyone should take a class from him at least once :)

The best PSYC teacher ever!!! His tests were cut and dry. He is fun and he is sooooooo helpful. He should teach every PSYC class!!!!

Helpful, caring and makes statistics easy to understand! He will talk a lot but you start to find out he is doing this to give you time to take notes from the overhead! I reccomend taking him you wont regret it!

He is the type of professor you wish all would be. He cares about his class and works hard to make sure no one falls behind. Makes silly jokes, has a good heart, and knows how to teach statistics in a way that seems like you're not even using math. There's nothing scary about the class or him. All you have to do is bother to show up and try.

Mr. Kolts is an awesome teacher for this subject which could be boring with a different teacher. He is expressive and humerous during lecture and his exams are clear and to the point. I highly recommmend taking a class from him!

He makes me want to do my masters at EWU just so I can learn from him. At the very least take one class from him. You wont regret it!

Russell is by far the best professor I have had at EWU! He is funny, keeps the class lively, and goes out of his way to make students succeed. I am not a math person, but he made me like this class. The only way that you will not pass this class is if you don't do the work.

Kolts wants you to pass and believe failing is not an option. Use book basically only for homework. Probably one of the best professor's I've ever had!!!

Dr. Kolts is a great professor. Statistics can be confusing if not explained properly, and he is awesome at explaining. He really cares about his students and wants them to pass. I would highly recommend taking him for Stats! If you go to lecture every day and do the homework, you will pass.

Kolts is one of the best professors on campus! I received a 3.8 in his stats class this last quarter. He is CLEAR, he teaches very patiently and explains everything in more than one way so every student has a shot at getting a good grade in the class. The only way you can fail is by not showing up. Our math department could learn a lot from him!!!

CFT the topic not what I expected, kinda worked through some of my own anger with this class. Class itself can sometimes be relaxing because of the exercises.

Dr. Kolts is the best math teacher I have EVER had! He is so passionate about helping you to understand. He does not rush the class he wants to make sure you understand before moving on. The second test is a take home test. As long as you come to class you'll be fine. He does offer extra credit. He is just so encouraging about believing in yourself

prof kolts is so caring and is deeply passionate about his compassion focused therapy, although we had almost a weekly paper they were not hard to write and were based off of what you got from the readings. he was super understanding about life situations and i would take him again in a heartbeat such a great class

EWU is lucky to have such a great, caring, and dedicated professor. He teaches in a way that makes students want to learn the material. And he wants all his students to succeed, which say a lot about him. He is truly a wonderful professor and you love taking his class!!!

Kolts is a great professor. If you pay attention in class and study for the two tests, you'll do well. He is a very liberal professor and happens to bring politics up a lot in class which is not what I pay for, but other than that, his classes are solid and interesting.

EWU is SOOOO lucky to have a professor like Dr. Kolts. If you see ANY class by this man, take it, that is just how good he is. He is so caring about his students and really wants to see you succeed. He NEVER makes you feel doubted and if you genuienly need assistance, he is your man. I talk very highly of this professor to everyone I know.

Dr. Kolts is a great teacher. He is funny and caring and makes sure his students know what they're doing. He doesn't use Canvas, but his homework is completion credit and he hands back tests to let you see your score. He gives easy and fun extra credit quizzes on days when few students are there.

Dr. Kolts is a real gem EWU is lucky to have him. He's funny, caring, and super laid back. He offers extra credit and gives textbooks to those who don't buy any. He's clear in what he's gonna test you on and there's only 3 exams and hw that you're graded on. As long as you show up you'll do amazing. I recommend to take any class that he teaches.

I've learned so much from Dr. Kolts, and can't recommend his classes highly enough! Both this course and CFT are incredible. Dr. Kolts has some of the best content and online structure I've seen. I am lucky to have had him as a professor and mentor. He goes above and beyond. He is engaging, provides feedback and you know what to expect for exams.

Dr. Kolts started the class with basic algebra using Greek symbols used in statistics. He was very easy to follow in lectures, took time to answer questions, heavily encouraged class participation, paced material to the pace of the class, was flexible on homework deadlines, and genuinely cared for the success of the class.

This was a class I'll never forget. If you're looking for the best, Kolts is it. Not only did he cover the material, he did so in conversation style which drove the material home in a way that sticks with you. He is available to help and is happy to do so. He is very knowledgeable, compassionate, and respectful. Will be taking CFT with him as well.

Very engaging and explains things in a way that is easy to understand

I hate math so much, so I was really nervous to take this class but I really enjoyed it. He is so understanding and helpful, he makes everything as easy as possible and I was sick for two weeks and he sent me the videos of the lectures without question. I would recommend going to class everyday to stay caught up, and for extra credit.

Kolts really cared about us students, he made lectures funny and the study guides and power points were easily accessible. Tests were relatively easy so long as you pay attention in class and do the study guide :) cannot recommend this professor enough!

One of my favorite professors. I have taken his classes multiple times and have always enjoyed his lectures and assignments. He really dives deep into the work and makes it an interesting class. You can get easy participation points by completing simple assignments each week and he gives a lot of options for participation points.

I really liked the psych-stats class. He is also my advisor. I've had a lot of psych classes at EWU, but Kolts is my favorite professor by far.

Professor Kolts delivers engaging lectures and encourages meaningful discussions. The class material is interesting, and completing simple weekly assignments helps boost participation grades. Unstuck study was a great study aid alongside the readings.

Since stats is required for a psych degree, I would absolutely take it from Kolts. Super kind and caring guy, makes the course material feel easy, and his exams are really accurate to what you learn in class.
