He is a fun guy who "gets it". Dr. Mo is a true philosophy professor with lots of experience and easy to talk to. Easy class if you can read. Involves reading, but he leaves it up to you how much you "browse" and how deep you want to dig. No book requirement and memorizing useless stuff. No tests, just "workshops" that you prepare at home. TAKE HIM
This was probably the easiest class I've ever taken. There are no tests just workshops, where you write small paragraphs outside of class. There is no textbooks required, which is great because it's extremely cheap. I would recommend him if you don't really want to learn philosophy and it's just required for your major.
I enjoyed the class very much. I knew a good deal about Philosophy going in, and so I enjoyed getting a run through of philosophers and their teachings. He was objective and able to get abstract concepts across well. No textbook, which is good for 2 reasons. 1 being it's cheap. 2 being right and wrong is more relative, which seems more appropriate.
Doesn't use a textbook so you save money. The assignments are pretty easy and clear just attend the work groups and listen and you'll do great.
I don't know why you are still reading this. SIGN UP FOR MOSES BEFORE HE'S FULL. This class i took in the spring of 2014. Easiest A, go to get help on papers and get 100s on EACH ONE. not playing. This class is easy, go to class and sit FRONT ROW. I don't even like philosophy and got an A in the class. No textbook. just take him!
Take him before he's fully booked. For real.
Seriously an awesome teacher!! Makes class interesting and enjoyable! No text book or tests! Highly recommend this guy!!
I enrolled in Dr. Moses' class based on the reviews I saw & my initial thought was "oh cool, I'll get an A" WRONG. He had his grad student grading all the papers & she was an unnecessarily harsh grader, only 1 person in a class of 100 plus students scored an A. Don't get me wrong, he's intelligent, but this class was pretty hard this semester
Professor Moses is a easy professor. Just make sure you go to class and turn things in when they're due!
Awesome professor! LOVED his class. Super outgoing and funny. Lectures are boring but you can be on your phone, laptop, ipad, etc.. just show up to class to get counted present. NO TESTS, just papers due about every 4 weeks. Each paper is under 250 words.
Dr. Mo's ethics class was fun! I was a little lost at first and didn't get what they were asking for in the papers we wrote but by mid term, I understood. He is very easy to follow and listen to. I wish he taught other classes because I loved his personality and teaching style. You DO NOT need a textbook which was awesome!
Moses is an amazing Philosophy professor! His teaching assistant however was a tough grader and based her grading off of what she wanted to see rather than what the professor was asking for. There were no tests, just a bunch of one to two page papers. He does not use the textbook and you need to go to class to understand how to write the papers.
Really easy class but the most boring useless class I've taken in a while. He's nice but it's way too easy to fall asleep. No books or Tests.
Seemed like an easy class at first, until we started getting grades back. Everyone I asked had conflicting notes on their papers. This is primarily due to the extremely poor instructions he gives on the assignments, and absolutely no help from the THREE TAs. Assignments themselves aren't too hard, but good luck getting a decent grade.
Lectures are boring, attendance is pretty mandatory. You can go and play on computer, so long as you do the papers and use common knowledge, the class is fairly easy and certainly passable.
He is SO boring. He will call you out if you're on your phone and is super disrespectful and rude. Definitely wouldn't take again, probably not even worth the A.
The class was too large for participation or exchange of ideas or information. Moses does a good job on the lectures and there is no book required. TA's are not that great and they are the ones that do the grading. Fellow students really rude. Talked through class and watched movies.
Personally I had no interest in philosophy and he understands many students don't. Teaches the info so if you want to learn you can, and if you don't care, all you have to do are the assignments. No textbook or tests, only 6 very short essays. He's a very easy grader I got one 96 and 100's on everything else. Take him for an extremely easy A+.
I did not have a class that had TA's, so maybe my experience was more positive than others on here. He is a nice guy, but his class is boring. It's ethics, so there you go. He doesn't have tests, but rather essays consisting of 1-6 pages. The essays grading criteria was confusing and difficult o understand what he was looking for.
This class is probably the easiest I've taken ever! All you have to do is write easy essays and there are no test but his lectures are so boring and pointless. If you don't care about that and just want an easy A he's the professor you should pick.
There's no tests he lets class out early. However, there is a short assignment due every week.
No tests, lets class out 30 minutes early every day, no textbook. All you have to do is write something (200-500 wordsish) a week. Lectures are pointless and boring, because there aren't any tests... but this class is pretty easy and not stressful. (don't pick Stefan for your TA lab person)
If you're not into philosophy then the class is super boring. but there aren't any tests and there is no book that you have to purchase. You get your grades from the lab that goes along with the class and all you have to do is write a "paper" (200-250 words)
Course grade based on weekly short essay assignments. Nice guy.
This guy is awesome. no tests but makes you swipe into class for attendance grade. you have to write short 200 words essay every week over opinion (Easy). Easy A
Pretty much you will write a short paper every week. Good class if you're not taking this course serious. His lectures are SO boring. Most people sleep, stay on their phones, or do things on their laptops during his lectures (rude, I know, but it was that bad.) *Stefan is the worst I.A ever, couldn't stand him. Avoid him at all costs.*
Professor Moses's lectures are not long, yet tend to feel that way a lot of the time. He is very helpful if you just ask him, plus he has IA's who are pretty helpful also. He does not assign a textbook so being in class is important. You write a small paper just about every week yet they are not hard AT ALL if you just understand the lectures.
there are no tests only papers which are easy his lectures are useless. its a easy A
Class is pretty easy, you write short essays every week or so instead of taking tests.
Professor Moses is a fair man. As long as you give effort if your work he will give you the grade you deserve. He does papers that are weekly instead test but in my opinion I'll do paper over a test. Especially if it's his assignments. He's super cool and will help you out with papers if needed.
His lectures were long and boring. You had a short paper due every week. You must take a lab with this class. Some of his IA's were tough graders and some were really easy. You need to be able to correctly cite your sources for your papers. There's no textbook, all the reading material is online on his website.
From someone who's life is not just dedicated to school. This class was easy but you had something due every friday at your IA workshop! Luna was a great IA
I liked him as a person but sometimes his lectures were long and boring, not always tho. Instead of tests we had short papers to write every week or so that were due on Fridays at the workshops with the IAs, some were easy graders, some tough. He tries to help out as much as possible. No book, everything is online, and no final, just a final paper.
TAKE HIM. He is the best professor I've ever had. No exams, but about 10 papers which get longer as you go on but they are all super easy. Class is sometimes boring but you don't have to take notes or anything. Make sure you understand what to write for the papers because some people misunderstood and he made them rewrite their papers. Super easy A
Super easy class... Just write a paper over the topics Dr. Mo chooses and you're good. He provides a template so make sure to use it.. There is no wrong in philosophy but I did notice kids that didn't use the correct format are the ones that got low grades.. You have to be really stupid not not get an A in this class..
this class is boring long lectures half of 350+ students aren't paying attention in their overall it's easy
He is really nice, but his lectures are boring I always did homework/studied for other classes during his class, -No exams, -No textbook, there is a required lab once a week some of the lab instructors grade rough but they tell you exactly how they want the essays, Easy A
This guy is so nice, but his class is so boring. His lectures largely uninterested me because of the boring topics, but if he was teaching other topics, I would've enjoyed the class way more. He's so cool and really does care about his students and class. He lets your class go early everyday, but people still leave even earlier and he gets sad. :(
There are NO tests for this class, just a lab where you turn in papers. The work is extremely easy. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. You only get 2 free skips (lab & lecture combined.) Lecture was boring, so I just did my own thing, bc the assignments were so easy I really didn't have to pay attention. 10/10 WOULD RECCOMEND THIS CLASS
I took an Honors class focused on the philosophy of nonviolence with little Mo and it rocked my socks. This was like the right class at the right time and he was so knowledgable and passionate about all the material. He was however a bit of a traditionalist and he never put his grades or attendance online so it's hard to gauge where you stand.
This is an overall easy class to take, depending on the IA you get (Stefan is a no go) everyone says his class is boring, but it is probably interesting if you enjoy philosophy. He is probably one of the better philosophy professors for the required philosophy course!
Moses is a solid dude. I took ethics and society with him. No exams or quizzes, just a paper due every friday. Super easy but the lectures are so boring.
Paper or reading worksheet due every week at your workshop. All workshops are pretty much easy and extremely hard to get a bad grade on. Lectures can be boring but he makes it interesting enough to want to pay attention. Basically just turn your work in on time and you'll have an easy A!
Moses is cool, lectures have nothing to do with the work that makes up your grades. I'd honestly say to just take a different professor without a lab. This class had "mini" papers and intricate assignments due weekly. If you don't have time every week to write a GOOD and grammatically correct paper, you will struggle.
He was awesome. I took this as an online summer, and I slacked a lot. He really wants to help you pass, and he replied to each of the ten papers with great detail about what you need to work on. If you put in effort and take his criticism into consideration, you will pass easily.
there's a paper due each week, but he gives no tests and the papers are very basic so the class is an easy a if you're not entirely too bothered by the weekly papers.
His lectures are seemingly very long but he lets the class out 30 minutes early if you have an hour and a hula class. The topics are interesting if you actually apply yourself.
Super boring lectures but you don't need to pay attention to them. There's a short essay or worksheet due each week but they're super easy and don't necessarily require you to read more than a paragraph. There's no textbook, tests, or quizzes but attendance is required. The easiest A of my college career.
Extremely boring lectures, I fell asleep in most of them. Worksheets due are easy and there are no tests. If you want to sleep in class, and get a high B or an A. Take this class with this professor.
Unclear grading, doesnt post grades or attendance on TRACS, doesnt really teach but leaves learning to groups and reading outside class. Not very organized, all readings are online. Very writing intensive.
Did not lecture. Put students into small groups to talk about the required readings. Does not post grades. Does not use tracs, save for the final essay submission. The bottom line is that the only role he played in class was to assign and grade papers, making no real contribution to the content being studied.
He is an okay teacher, but he can be very vague. He doesn't really explain what he wants from you in the class or on assignments, so you kind of have to guess. He is also very opinionated. If you miss class you won't do well. He doesn't upload any grades onto TRACS, so if you want to know what you're making you have to harass him.
The lectures are useless, most people just fall asleep in the class. It's a really easy course, just do your essay every friday which it will take you like an hour to two at most including the reading.
Lectures could be kind of boring, but he's obviously very passionate in what he's teaching. There's no textbook, as he provides websites to get your sourcing done. Depending on your GIA, they can either grade generously, or hard, it just depends. Just write the essays each week and make sure to source and you should get an A.
No tests, but lectures are pointless and crazy boring. Most of the time they do not even pertain to the weekly papers that are assigned. Super easy class just boring and seemingly useless. Would recommend for an easy A with no effort.
The worst professor I've ever had. He made every class very uncomfortable and scoffed at every kid who answered his questions in class. Very sarcastic, and not in a funny way. It's like he made up his lesson plan before class. I did not learn a thing all year. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!
Easiest professor ever. He gives lectures in class but you can do the homework without having to pay attention to the content, just follow the criteria and format. You have to write an Essay every week but he doesn't give quizzes or tests. The only way to fail is to not do the work, period.
Not a difficult class. Lectures are long, and boring, I fell attended every class, and ended up doing homework from another class. Papers due every week, depends on your Ta if you get an A or B. But overall good guy, and ares about the stuff hes talking about.
Talks veeeeeery slow
I took him online and I wish I hadn't. We have 5 paragraph summaries due every week which isn't bad except you seriously cannot please him!! Such a picky grader and takes off so many points for little things. Ya never know what grade you're gonna get on your paper for the week.
Dr. Moses is very passionate about what lectures on. The lectures are very long, but he typically lets us out early. Papers due every Friday, but not difficult to complete. Very clear paper guidelines. You might get a little bored in class, but it's an easy way to help your GPA. I recommend especially to Freshmen.
Dr. Moses is very passionate when he lectures but the lectures are usually boring. Everyone in my class does homework while he lectures because everything is online so you don't need to pay attention in class. Short papers due every week but they are always super easy. No tests, but extra credit is available all throughout the semester.
It's obvious to see that Dr. Moses loves what he does. His lectures are sometimes pretty boring but they are very relevant for the short essays that we have to write every week. The essays are due every Friday and are extremely easy to complete. He also let us out 20 minutes early every lecture
The lectures were super boring unless you are interested in the subject. You write a paper every week that is due Friday at the discussion for a total of 11. No tests or other assignments. They are not hard AT ALL if you just follow the format he gives.
Dr. MOOOOO was hella chill and wise. Its hard to keep up with him he gets kinda choppy but if you can keep up, most of the time youll realize its a really cool lecture. You do an essay every week but its easy. No exams
go to the lectures for participation but you do not have to listen at all it has nothing to do with the Friday assignments. Every Friday you turn in a paper which are very easy and if youre confused go to the TAs office hours and they will help raise your grade super helpful! overall compared to the over professors this is the best one to take.
Easy class. we didnt do anything during the lectures but every week you have to write a paper over the lectures for your IA and it was super easy depending on who you have. Easy A !!!
Professor Moses is a really cool person. The class was super easy, and the homework honestly had nothing to do with the lecture. Just show up and do the easy homework and youll pass, and probably get an A.
This class is literally a joke. attendance is mandatory and u have to write papers that are due every friday. the lectures have nothing to do with the papers and honestly when they do you can easily just follow the link he gives. theres not even a point in going to class but if you skip 3 classes you get dropped from the class. LECTURES ARE BORING!
Lectures are super boring but he lets class out early every day. A paper a week is your homework and the final is 5 papers combined. Lots of writing. But he is nice and very approachable.
Dr. Mo lectures every class and it is a little boring. He is very nice though and there are no tests. But there is a weekly essay that has to be about 1 1/2 to 2 pages.
Professor Mo is so nice and it's very clear he cares about his students. His lectures are super interesting and he is very passionate about it. The only grades are the papers we write once a week. The IAs grade the papers very easily. GPA booster with Professor MO!
Dr. Mo is probably one of the best professors. No exams, quizzes, etc. Each week turn in short paper over week's material found online & final is just 5 of those papers. Papers & attendance is only thing your grade is on. 2 lecture days w/ 1 lab day on Friday which sucks (can only miss 2 total days till counts). Very easy should defiantly take him.
Dr. Mos class isnt the hardest class ever. But if youre like me and procrastinate about everything then you will be dreading the weekly essays every week. On the bright side though theyre easy essays most if not all being only 5 paragraphs, plus the Tas are relatively easy graders you just have to stick to the rubric as much as possible.
Your grade is based on attendance and the weekly 5 paragraph paper due every Friday. It's a relatively easy class as long as you show up and turn in your paper on Friday. Some of the IA's are easy on grading. There's no textbook or tests. Dr. Mo just goes over some online readings in class and it's up to you what you want to write in your paper.
GO2CLASS, I missed 4 days total and my grade was dropped 2/3 a letter (from 95 to 89). You are not allowed to write about what you learn in lecture - for the most part, so it's completely pointless except for attendance (no electronics). All the TAs grade differently, some are SUPER strict; Brad is rad. On M&F, He let us out 20min early every day.
Dr. Moses is an amazing professor who deserves all the recognition. He is an overall amazing guy, although his lectures won't help much in your essays. This class is an easy A as long as you write your super easy essays (complete template given) and show up to lectures and Friday workshops.
This class comes with a lab that you meet with at the end of the week with one of his IAs. A 5 paragraph paper is due every week...a summary on what the teacher lectured on that week. IAs are picky about papers. Easy A as long as you show up and do your papers every week.
Professor Mo is great teacher, but the lectures don't really help with the essays that are due every week. There are no tests or quizzes only papers. How easy your papers are graded will depend on the IA you have in your lab.
Take Dr. Mo! One of the best Professors Ive had, hes very caring and encourages you to do your best! He gives great positive feedback. Not a tough grader very clear on what he expects! I have a lot of respect for him and the way he teaches.
He's a caring professor but makes philosophy a lot harder than it has to be. If you're taking asynchronous then be prepared to write an essay every week of the semester. It's really excessive and you get burnt out about halfway through the semester.
Professor Moses was such a great professor. He was super nice and gave great feedback, which made the class more enjoyable. The class is very simple, just follow the guidelines he provides and you will do great.
I took Dr. Mo's honors nonviolence philosophy class, so I'm not sure how different it is. There are roughly two essays throughout the year and one research paper at the end as a final. Sometimes his instructions can be vague, so if you are confused, email him. He heavily leans left politically, fyi. He cares about his students, just do your best.
I took Ethics and Society as an asynchronous class and he grades on an essay every week. At first, I was struggling but if you pay close attention to his feedback and the syllabus, youre guaranteed to get an A! It may take some time to get used to but at the end of this semester he gave a lot of extra credit that can really boost your grade!
You will never get a straight answer from Dr. Mo. I have emailed him several times with multiple questions and he never fully answers any of them. He doesn't give you enough time to prepare assignments because he grades the night before you have your next assignment due. Dr. Mo is a great person, but wouldn't recommend.
He is the most confusing out of touch person in the entire world. He needs to take another class in teaching as he does not understand how to connect with students as he should. He expects a large amount of work to be done in a limited time but grades and provides feedback the night before it's due. Not a single meaning in anything he says
Dr. Moses is a good guy overall and you can tell he cares about his students but the material and grades were unorganized. The class was lowkey till about half way and then got very work heavy. I emailed him about grades and certain questions and he responded but his responses were not very helpful.
Professor Moses is awesome, **IF** you enjoy or tolerate an essay heavy class. I took his 1320 Philosophy and Ethics class, which was an online course. A paper was due every week, along with 3 comments, with there being no quizzes or tests. He grades easy if you follow the prompt, and will give you great feedback and comments.
Dr.Moses is a very understanding professor. He wants the best for you in his course, if you ever have a questions he is a quick replier through email. You only write one paper a week there are a few hard topics but as long as you follow his outline its easy. He accepts late work and he will reach out to you if he notices you missed an assignment.
I loved Prof Moses course, I'm not big into Philosophy but only having one short paper with a few comments due a week is very manageable. He's also very understanding, and will reach out to ask if everything's ok and that you can talk to him if you're struggling to turn things in on time. He also gives really clear rubrics for how to write them.
Prof Moses was a good professor with only one homework assignment a week but the class does require a lot of writing. I do think he is a hard grader but overall he gives good feedback and the homework involves having to put in some work and think outside the box.
I loved this class! It was completely online for me, but I enjoyed it. Professor Moses gives good feedback and is also so kind! The assignments are difficult at first, but as long as you really try, you should pass.
I had his class online and it was good. I actually did learn a lot from it but we were required to write a paper every week which sucked. They were hard at first especially bc he grades kinda tough but once you get the hang of it, it's not hard, just tedious.
Although I took Dr. Mo's class online, I feel like I learned a lot. You are required to write a 5 paragraph essay every week with multiple sources he provides you to choose from which can be scary, but after the first one or two it gets a lot easier. He is a very fair grader and super understanding and it is clear he cares about his students a lot.
Online writing 5 paragraph essay's weekly. Kind of a basic simple class, hardest part is figuring out how to write based off some philosopher and his random writings. Easy A if you actually do the writings, wasn't too hard and there really wasn't lectures.
He grade directly from the rubric, he does give out 100. All it is is a 5 paragraph essay once a week, and respond thoughtfully to 3 students. On average it take around 1 1/2 hours per week. Overall, I feel he is a very good and understanding.
Professor Moses is great - provides clear feedback and is very understanding. The weekly essay format takes some getting used to, but with the help of tools like unstuck study, it's manageable. Overall, an enjoyable class if you put in the effort.
Super light grader. Only had one assignment due per week and never had to meet. Assignments are just short discussion posts (about 5 paragraphs).
Dr. Mo is such a caring professor, really loves what he teaches, and is invested in his students learning. My only complaint is that a lot of instructions for assignments are a little bit abstract and unclear (also don't expect direct answers when asking questions-- he is a philosophy guy haha), but he grades very kindly on big assignments :)
Enjoyed taking this class, the topics you can choose to write about are great. I'm not very good at writing but achieved an A, would definitely take again.
I will give a straight forward review. You will read a lot. You will have 1 essay due every week. Know how to follow MLA guidelines and cite sources. You will reply to your peers' essays. Follow the professors formatting and instructions carefully. The class is tedious but not intellectually hard. I'd say if you're not lazy, it's an easy A.
