Russel Smith Is a wonderful teacher. He is a teacher that really cares about the students success as long as you are willing to show him that you will work for it. He expects you to work which in my opinion not all that bad.

Mr. Smith allowed us to critique each other's work, he gave great feedback as well. The reading wasn't mandatory, but he gave extra credit if you did. He treated us with respect, and was funny at times. I enjoyed taking his class.

I am a video production major and this class was a pre requesite to my degree. Although I still struggle with drawing as it has never been my area of expertise, I found that this class helped me get better for now. This class was engaging and fun, and since my major was Animation and Game Art it definitely help me learn more terms, and hone my skills as a storyteller. He also encourages a lot of drawing, but don't get scared, he values progress more than anything. And if you're a talkative person don't be afraid to strike a conversation, he'll appreciate it.

Professor Smith is one of my favorite professors at Collin. Every class he would start by giving amazing constructive criticism to each student. Followed by a lecture that got the point of the assignment across without issue. Punctuated with some links to outside material that would be very helpful in each assignment.

Professor Smith was a good teacher he made us draw every time in his class so we could developed our drawing skills. So you will draw a bunch in his class, the other thing I like was the projects. We got two different projects for storyboard which was about showing a video game product and the other was base on your choice.

I took storyboarding for the summer. The assignment is easy to understand. Professor Smith is funny and always willing to help; he's always there when you need assistance. There will be assignments, but if you put in the work, it will be manageable, especially if you enjoy telling stories.

I took ARTV 1371 for summer semester so shorter weeks. Professor is very entertaining and lively. This is a class where you get students who interact. Lecture is very clear. Every class you get a drawing exercise due that day. Class starts with drawing warm up of still life. There are 5 projects. Professor also critiques each of the students work

Prof Russ is very engaging and encourages everyone to not be ashamed of their art and improve. All you need to do is to just do the assignments and to turn it in. Turning in not the best art is gets you better grades than not turning in good stuff late. I would know.

He even has an option if you couldn't turn an assignment in you can get a one time week "life happens" extension. Professor Russel runs one of the most well organized and generous courses I've taken. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra points and gives great feedback for every assignment on how to improve. I leaned a lot from this professor and recommend anyone to take one of his courses.

The most important thing is putting effort forth on your part; true effort, and you will have that effort returned to you. Professor Smith is always willing to work with you as long as that is what you want.

Very hands on type of teaching style

I want to know if my professor is showing us fun animation lectures! That was a lot of fun knowing the animation techniques.

One of my favorites! He helps and cares about students and how to help you with assignments and personal work.

If you do the work and come to lecture this class is basically an easy passing class. I have my personal bias because Professor Russell has similar interests to most of his class like video games and DnD. He's a fun outgoing professor but also knows how to stay on task which helps if you are wanting to be in this industry. Do the work and have fun!

Professor Russell Smith is an absolutely outstanding professor. He does an excellent job explaining what you need to do to earn credit on your assignments. He is extremely friendly and polite and just being with him puts me in a great mood. He also is very effective at delivering honest and genuine feedback meant to help you improve.

This professor was great, a bit stern and direct in terms of voice, which may be intimidating to some who may be on the quieter end of the spectrum. However, he does a great job providing notes on making your animation work better and offers ample opportunities to network and get into the field or bonus points to help grades.

All the positive things said in the other reviews are true. Do not expect much out of the lecture, they aren't the most engaging. He skims over what is written on the canvas without going into detail. You have to teach yourself required knowledge from the textbook or Youtube. It would be nice to learn about the industry and camera techniques!

Professor Russell was a wonderful instructor for FLMC 1301-003: History of Animation Technique. He was always nice, caring, and supportive throughout the course. I really appreciated how approachable he was and how he made the class enjoyable.

Professor Russell is very down to Earth and it's clear that he cares very much about what he teaches. Couldn't have asked for a better professor - He's flexible, a considerate grader, and very approachable.

This professor is great a lot of the assignments are fairly simple and a lot of the projects are quit fun to do with the sketch exercise I would say the most fun. Not only do they help be better at drawing they serve as a bit of a history lesson on animation that gets nostalgic later on.

For the most part this Professor is pretty good. A lot of the projects that are given are fun with the sketch exercise being the most interesting, because your able to look back at the history of animation.
