Dr.Sobel is by far the best professor that I've ever had. He makes economics actually interesting! If you have to take econ. make sure you take Dr.Sobel, if not you're missing out on the best professor that WVU offers!!!

Dr. Sobel is a great teacher. He makes the material interesting. He is a bit crazy sometimes, but he always keeps the class upbeat and fun. The material is rough, but he makes the class bearable. If you go to the class and pay attention its easy to do well.

Sobel is a great teacher. I'm an EE major, but for some reason I have to take econ 201, 202...Coming in nowing how miserably boring 201 was i was pretty shocked at how fun sobel made the class. He's a great teacher and a fun guy to have.

Whoever wrote those must be mad about their grade. None of that is true about the favoritism. He's a really good teacher. He uses walkie talkies in class and makes class fun to learn. His test are hard though.

Best professor I've had at WVU by far. Class is entertaining, and he seems to really care about his students. The workbook is the key to doing good on his exams.

He talks really fast, covers a lot of material, his tests are fair. He teaches well but we don't need to hear about his cat and car and kid and friends.

I absolutely hate economics, but he makes it pretty easy to understand. I don't know why people gave him bad ratings, I think he's incredibly interesting and the class is amusing... I actually like going to it. You make up your own quizzes after every chapter, 4 questions; I've gotten 100% every time. I'd definitely recommend him!!

This was a challenging class for me, but Prof. Sobel always tried to make the lectures interesting. He doesn't take himself too seriously and really tried to have fun with his students.

Russ is a cool instructor, test questions are right out of the book and study guide that he wrote, so book material is almost identical to test material. Definitely one of the best profs I've ever had.

I was dreading this class before taking it, but I ended up enjoying it more than any other class I had this semester. Dr. Sobel made the material easy to understand and made the class fun. The tests are fairly easy if you work on the problems in the study guide.

Awesome teacher. that person who wrote he doesn't know what he is talking about clearly never went to class. He has a PHD and teaches around the world at seminars and has written over 75 books and published articles, so clearly that person has no idea what he is talking about.

Great Teacher, Im an econ major now.

I enjoyed my intro class so much that I switched my major to Econ. I took several courses with Professor Sobel including an independent study. He's excellent and I highly recommend taking a class that he teaches. I can't imagine why he has negative ratings other than people who skipped out on some lectures and didn't do well.

This guy really knows how to make class interesting. Always relates graphs and charts to alcohol or something humorous like that. The quizzes that you turn in at the end of the chapters are rediculously easy. If you complete it you get 100 on it. He really knows how to teach the subject too. Easy to communicate with too...

This class is great, not stressful at all. I would HIGHLY recommend him. His tests are not bad at all, he really pretty much tells you waht to expect. Only have to do quizzes after each chapter (pass or fail basically, just have to do them) Only midterm and final. Very chill, he's fun and uses great relatable examples for everything.

Sobel is just great. I took his Freshman econ 111, and now I am taking Econ 201 at a private University. It has been so easy thus far because of having Sobel's class last semester. Great teacher, great class. Take him!

I love sobel! He is extremely nice and really funny! never really go to class becuase there is only two tests and all questions come out of the work book

One of the best teachers I have had. Makes all of the material interesting, and is a very funny guy. Midterm and Final (Both Easy), 4 essays (100 if you turn it in and isn't complete BS), and a Book Report (8-10 pg. but really isn't bad at all). Im taking him for 201 in the fall. I highly recommend him.

Professor Sobel is by far the most outrageous teacher I have ever had, but in a very entertaining way. His exams are directly from the workbook, making them very simple, and he is willing to help students. I would definitely recommend him to anyone taking Microeconomics.

Dr. Sobel teaches one mean econ class. Thinking about changing my major because of him. Makes everything interesting and fun, and really cares if students are learning and having a good time. For sure you want him as a prof, he is one of my all-time favorites.

Great professor! Very helpful and entertaining and always able to relate to the class. Attendance isn't mandatory but most of the test uses examples from lecture. Test a alright, just need to study a little. Definitely recommend!

Sobel is the best professor I have ever had. He is extremely clear in his teaching, and almost dumbs the material down to the point that it seems to be common sense. He is a really cool guy, and will not go a day without making you laugh. I highly recommend taking any class he teaches. You will not be disappointed!

What's the story on why he left WVU so quickly and unexpectantly?

He is in his first semester here at The Citadel. Great teacher. He does require you to attend all the classes since he gives notes, No Book. His tests are compiled from his notes

Dr. Sobel along with having a laundry list for a Vita, is the best professor I have ever had, and I'm now in grad school. He dumbs down the material and makes everything interesting. He never gives up on a student and has a genuine passion for economics. Youtube his lectures. I'm so glad he moved back to his hometown.
