Organization can be better, never clear on when assignments are due, makes you read like great amount, but overall, you don't do that much work in that class
Avoid her like the plague she will drive you insane. Assignments are so vague you don’t know exactly what she wants or when they are due. Always giving out extra work and presentations out of the blue. (Luckily I didn’t get one of those.) She never cance
She is a horror. If you want to get a C then take her. She gives useless work and don't give you a grade until final time. She really should retire.

She is amazing. Her tests are hard. She expects you to memorize stories. The papers she gives are even worse.
she is the worst professor i have never met in my life. give tough exam, and make you memorize a lot.
This professor shouldn't teach anymore! She's too old to think rationnally! The homework is never clear! She let's us leave the class an hour and a half in advance and thus we learn nothing. In the test she likes to give surprises. Never ever take her!
very unclear with the assignments, does not explain anything clearly
In my opinion she is great, i really liked this class, maybe it was easier because i took this class in the summer but i got an A...She is easy...
She is very Easy for Hebrew, an easy A class.
Very hard, yet, she let me hit up the saggy, old booty for a B.. Don't take unless you like the smell of old lady farts.
just participate alot and read the material... she explains the stuff pretty good.. always changes the assignments tho... not as bad as everyone says
she's so nice, I love her
nice lady, but she's all over the place with the assignments and how she teaches the class. goes a little too fast sometimes, for people who are learning Hebrew for the first time. but her grading system is good. whatever you get on the final, that's your grade for the course.
she is the only one teaching hebrew so like her or not you're stuck with her, her course material is very unorganized makes it hard to follow in class, she's all over the place and sometimes can give way too much work at times
Overall she is ok. Just let her know you, attend her classes, participate and do the homeworks. When she will see all that, she will definitely like you and will give you a good grade.
She is a sweetheart! Although she changes her assignments all the time, and has a very unclear grading system, if you do your work and participate in class you wont get less than a B.
Very boring and mean. I think she didn't like me because I was hispanic.
take this class in summer.easier than regular semester and time flies. you have to read a lot. if you don't miss class, still get B grade even if you mess up your exam.
Tough professor who doesn't know how to teach. I had a 3.8 gpa going into this class and on the first test I got a 38 even though I speak the language at home. I dropped this class right after. Don't bother taking it.
Hottest piece of *** in this part of the country, yet still hard.
When I took the class, about half of the students already knew Hebrew! Because of those ****s, Adler taught the class in a fast pace. I got by thanks to the help of a couple of classmates. My grade was determined on a few quizzes, one exam, language lab, and class participation. I got a B. But I strongly do not recommend not taking this class.
just do the work and show up to class i got an A in it and i didnt know hebrew when i came in
Oh my gosh! She teaches this course as if it were the only thing left on the planet. She makes you, read, read, and more read. Her tests are very easy, but if you want to pass them, you must use quotations from the readings, explain theme, character and the surrounding situation. If you use Wikipedia or some other Internet soure. U will fail. I got an A-, but I defintely worked for it. LOL.
hey this is one of the best classes for an easy A, i'm not lying just show up to every class try your hardest to be on time AND DO THE READING!! you do not even have to be perfect in your answers just show effort and you will do well, i got 76 on the midterm and came out with an A so take her, wonderful and helpfull teacher SERIOUSLY!! NO REGRETS!!
You guys do not know what you are saying, Adler is great!! she's so helpful and it is definitely the easiest A I've ever gotten, all you have to do is show up and put alittle effort into it. some students think they can diss her all semester and get an A, but its not the case. Its a very easy A, just need to put a little work into it!
Prof. Adler is EXCELLENT!!! She has an incredible knowledge at what she is teaching. She really know what she is talking about. She knows Hebrew perfect, loves Israel and teaches interesting material. She is easy and helpful. Just show up to classes, do the work and respect her rules. Easy and Fun!!! Absolutely take this course!!!!!!!
she is the best teacher period. She loves her students and you feel that in the class. She expects you to do the work and come on time to class, and that's all you need to do to get a good grade. You will never get a bad grade in this class (unless you are like Hitler or something). She is the BEST!!!!
She is a good professor. Cares about students, good knowledges and passion about teaching. If you read the text, participate in the class, you'll get a good grade.Tests and Hws are not hard at all, but at the end, you find yourself learn a lot from her class. Take her, if it is to late for summer, take her in fall, or tell a friend.
She is the best teacher. She is nice to the students. she never forces you to do anything. She has great passion for the subject. Even if you don't like LTT she makes it interesting. She is an Easy A if you do the the home work, etc. If you get involved in the class discussions a lot you will get an A. I loved her summer class. she's a sweetheart!
Participation is 40% of your grade and mainly that means showing up everyday on time because she is pretty strict about that. And also raising your hand a few times but the class isnt bad. Just listen to whatever she emphasizes and you should do well. Midterm and final are only 30%.
Good teacher, (students were idiots and treated her badly) if ur not doing well in the class talk to her she will help u, and be more favorable to u. if u attend and do ur home work u will get an A.
OOOOOOOhhhhhh!!! Prof. Adler is amazing person!!! Very interesting class!!! she is one of those who makes you think about your own life for better. LEARN A LOT! TAKE HER!!!! YOU WOLL BECOME SMARTER AND WISER!!!
Realy good professor. She is realy sophisticated and understands everything. F.e., I really enjoy reading, and I know that my tests' and essays' grades were not perfect just because being short in time; but by the end she said to me that she sees what I'm trying my best and gave me A. I wish all profs would be like her-openminded and flexible!!!
Adler fails to control disruptives so those who know no Hebrew will get low grade and learn nothing. Adler lies Rachel is available when she's sick for SACC tutoring.Adler lies that Hillel's Veronica is available because Veronica lies she needs 3 to tutor. Adler takes off 1/3 or more of term for classes but doesnt seem religious. Adler has no offic
In-class discussion was rote and mechanical at times. At the end of class she'll make you say what you've learned that day, stop me when this sounds like elementary school. If you value the free flow of ideas in an English class, please do yourself a favor and pick someone else. Most of the class just seemed to be looking for an easy class anyways.
Great teacher. class is fun and you learn alot. If you have time to study and are willing to spend a little time in the language lab you will do very well in the class. Good luck
This lady has the Sybervision lab manual, but she refuses to shares it. She actually requires you to actually make an effort to contact classmates who miss class so they find out what they missed. She also requires that you hold conversation with a classmate in Hebrew. She never has time for you. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE unless you know Hebrew well.
Very sweet, but strict woman in the classroom. Key terms for success in her class : be quiet, no food, no electronics, and talk to your classmates.
I don't understand why her ratings are so low. She is a very lenient and nice professor, but at some times is very moody. I got an a in her class and my english isn't even that good...take her...def a if u pay attention and care..
well,if you care for ur gpa, take her.I got an easy a and eng. is not my first language. But the WAY she teaches is a disaster! I felt like I'm in a 3rd grade! every day"what did learn today" I always wanted to say-nothing from YOU!!! Very boring, everybody hated her style.I discovered few great authors, but Mrs.Adler can't teach!!!
The class was easy but mind numbing. In fact i felt some what insulted listening to her because she treats her students like children. If you want a clear and precise teacher, go with some one else. I did not learn a thing. Makes YOU waste your time to contact absent students to give them the assignments even when they do not care. Avoid if possibl
i duno y she has so many negative ratings. she is a very kind, nice, and helpful lady. if u show effort and do what she says, u will end up with an a
she is a joke. just come to class everyday make it like u care and do what she says. she will be the eaisest A you will ever get in baruch. but you will feel like you are in kindergarten at times so be prepared for that. otherwise great professor easy a midterm final and paper combined (40%) all count the same as attendance does (40%)
Midterm and Final(30%) one short paper(3pages)(15%). assignment(20%) attendance and participation(35%) Exams are really easy easy easy. listen to her carefully in the class and take notes. You will do fine!
Midterm and Final are written(a short response to the reading) You need to read a lot! Overall, she is great! You can not get a grade below B- in her class if you listen to her and give comments to the reading sometimes in the class!
She is a sweet and old lady and I just found her adorable. I'm surprised she knows so much at her age. She's the type of old lady where you'd just wanna give a big hug to. She can be unreasonable at times but overall she's a good professor. Just do your readings and you'll do great. Not a hard class at all.
Great teacher, made the reading come to life lots of class activity
Her class has a lot of reading and not everything is interesting. Journals and writing assignments are a part of your grade, but almost everything is attendance and participation. I was absent 4 times but every class I tried to participate and I still got an A-.
Great professor and easy class. Makes the class so much easier and easy to reach! Take this class.
Her class tests your note taking skills since that's the only way you can do well on her midterm and final (30% total). I failed both and still managed to get a B. HW is given daily and usually is collected. Journal entries make up a part of your grade as well as attendance and participation. Easy if you prepare well.
Online class, lots of blogs & stuff to keep one engaged in the topics. Lot of reading but nothing one cannot handle. Fun if you like voicing your opinion on various current CIS/online innovations. Easy A with one final, 10pg paper, and lots of online blogs, twitter etc. Take, take, take.
By far the worst professor, don't get me wrong she a nice old lady but she can't teach Hebrew if her life depended on it. Not organized, not professional at all. I hate giving bad ratings but I truly think she deserves it. Make sure you go to tutoring with Boyanna, she is truly the best. Shalom!
Took her for 3810 but the online section. She was very accessible through email. The chunk of your grade comes from Blogs (about 1 or 2 every week), 10 pg paper, and Final Exam. If you stay on top of your assignments you can definitely get an A
great teacher... i learned a lot! :) and the class was fun also :)
class was very interesting and helped me think about my life in new ways. Great teacher!
The best professor in the world, she cares a lot and teaches you a ton. I had a fun time this semester and I am taking her again in the fall. If you want to learn hebrew or have a fun class to learn new intresting information I recommand this professor highly!!!
greaat professor
I HIGHLY recommend Mrs. Adler. Coming from someone who took Hebrew because of the time-slot,after just two semesters I learned a great deal and intend to continue learning it post-graduation. She is helpful, attentive, dedicated and very enthusiastic. As long as you show up on time and care about learning she is, by far, the best teacher at Baruch.
It is one of the best courses I have taken in Baruch. Professor Adler is one of the best in Baruch. Highly recommend.
A wonderful teacher! She's extremely knowledgeable. I felt inspired to learn more. I highly recommend her!
During summer, Mrs. Alder taught, in depth, difficult works that were on-point and gave a strong background in literature. She used activities, like skits, to keep homework minimal, make class fun and, as long as you attend class, help you learn a lot. I HIGHLY recommend Mrs. Alder, as she is, by far, the best teacher at Baruch.
Thank you professor! I might end this class with B-, (cuz i screw midterm) but it doesn't matter! I still say Thanks! She is smart, and the material we studied, changed my way of looking not only in the world, but at myself as well! take her if you really want to learn smth.
Don't take her if you can't read minds. She expects a lot from students without clarifying it. This class is very unorganized and it's rare that she';; gives back the assignments. Her midterm and final is difficult. she rushes through lessons and expects a lot of reading per night. Also makes us print/buy additional stories other than her syllabus.
Good notes taking skills on both class and on the readings is necessary. Writing is not a big part of your grade bcs she only asks for the completion of it. preparations prior every class is extremely important, otherwise you may get lost and points off when she asks you a question. Lastly, Be ready to read a lot and have fun.
This is a really enjoyable class. She likes to ask random question during the beginning of class to see if you read the book. The readings are not long and she does go over them in detail during class. Midterm and finals wasn't difficult, as she goes over what will be on the exams. Make sure not to get on her bad side as she will remember you!
Professor Adler knows all her students by name, which is pretty impressive. She is also very passionate about teaching and exposes her students to real life dilemmas. You have to read the book and do your assignments on time. Group work will get you to know your classmates. Overall, very engaging class that requires effort but you'll be rewarded.
Prof Adler is a kind and caring Prof. If you show an interest to learn and progress you will surely do well. If there is one negative to Prof Adler is that her kindness can often be mistaken for slackness. She will not punish you for not doing homework etc, so many students slack off. If you do not slack off an you put effort in you will get an A.
Really good professor, very stern about attendance. Took her for hebrew and comparative literature. Recommend if you're willing to work a bit for your grade.
Took her a year ago and would recommend her. She is a very sweet old lady who likes what she does and is knowledgeable about the reading material. It might take a little kiss-ass to get the A, that means NO latenesses, unexcused absenses and be sure to participate!!! The workload isn't too much, just read and write as much as possible on the test.
Really caring professor, she loves all her students, if they behave ! She's like a loving and caring grandma
Great professor, really cares about her students. Make sure you go to class though, attendance is very important to her.
I love Professor Adler! She's a great teacher and is so so kind. Don't be absent and don't be late :)
I love Professor Adler! Come to class. Don't be late. Be respectful. She can be unclear about what she wants but if you show dedication that is what means the most to her. You have to do the work.
Professor Adler is a well meaning, sweet person. She has a very strong view of how things are supposed to work. The key to doing well in this class is to participate with her views. Being late is the #1 thing you can do to lower your grade, other than that grading is based on effort, show her you care and you'll do well in her class.
Learned absolutely nothing. Class has zero structure. Gives no indication of grade breakdown.
She hates to lecture and likes to involve the class heavily. Be ready to be picked on to explain the previous nights reading. Don't expect to give a simple explanation she will grill you on details. She can be rather rude at times even if not purposely. Class has zero structure and the Grading policy does not exist. TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Great Professor - really cares! I really learned a lot.
I'm so glad I took this course! Learned a lot.
Professor Adler is caring and kind- if you feel you're not keeping up, or have a question about an assignment, she will patiently explain. She cares very much about her students. In response to someone mentioning that you'll have to explain hw, that's not something crazy at all! some expressed concern about vague grading policy- just show interest.
Very good professor. Knows Hebrew very well and love to teach
Professor Adler is a very sweet and carrying person. She is always willing to help and correct you if necessary. I took her class for 3 semesters. She gives Homework, a midterm and a final. She gives a great review before her exams. She doesn't always based your final grade only on exams but your also participation. You MUST attend her class!!
Professor Adler is the sweetest, cutest professor at Baruch. She wants for you to succeed and will offer makeup exams if you don't do as well as you wanted to on her midterm and finals. If you do your homework and put in effort she will reward you with a good grade. Not a tough professor, just wants to see that the students try.
Prof. Adler is one of the best! She is super caring and really wants her students to learn and master the language. Her teaching method is not typical of other classes but it gets you learning the language, which is the goal. Just show you care, do all your work, show up on time, and be polite and you will be fine! Definitely recommend!
Prof. Ruth Adler cares about the class and has alot of knowledge but is not a class i recommend. A ton of reading and NOT clear at all about her grading system. The grades were "Excellent, Need more, General, Okay" just hard to understand where you stand in the class and DO NOT SKIP CLASS. You will pay for it. Good luck if you take her!
A lot of reading . And I'm not playing but you're in college so handle your business .
Prof. Adler is my all time favorite college professor. I know from experience I'm in my 5th year of college. Only prof at Baruch who learns your name and she ACTUALLY CARES about her students. I also laughed hysterically in many classes just because of the way she taught. She is funny and doesn't even realize. Just do hw and learn a bit for tests.
Very fair grader. High grader. Interesting. Very positive experience. Interesting readings and explains things well.
Very interesting and caring. Professor Adler is a favorite professor of mine and she cares so much about her material and about the students. You won't have to work too hard.
Good professor, a little unclear about grading but overall easy class. Midterm, final and 1 paper.
Very easy and caring professor. Professor Adler is an interesting and dynamic teacher, you won't have to work too hard and she is a very fair grader. I would definitely take professor Adler again.
She was tough on grading exams and you must know your readings before coming to class because she usually gives a question to each person when calling attendance. She asked for more books than she ended up using. However, not too much homework. 1 midterm 1 final 1 paper, daily logs.
The Goat. One of the handful of professors who actually CARE for her students
Not a good teacher. Does not convey material clearly. Avoid at all costs. Trust me, even though I did well in the class. Theres just no nice way to put it. Very poor teaching skills.
very vague and unclear expectations of students. Very bad. Total opposite of what a good student wants in a professor. Avoid at all costs. VERY BAD.
Run for your life! She has no idea what she's doing. She's confused and disorganized. I know nothing about literature and I can teach a better class than her.
Well, Prof Adler gave almost everyone at least B+ in the end. That was nice. One paper, two exams, weekly logs, a brief presentation. Come to every class and do your assignments. However , the grading policy is extremely extremely unclear. If you wanna get A in this course, she may not be a solid choice. Take it at your own risks.
This professor does not issue, or use, a syllabus of any sort. The course is not structured in any way and the grades are based on her "scale" of "yofi", "metsuyan", or being told to redo it. Zero structure. Likes to scream. Publicly berates students routinely. Complete opposite of what good students seek from professors. DO NOT TAKE, AVOID.
Dr. Adler is the best professor! She wants all her students to succeed. As long as the student puts in the effort, FOR SURE will do well. Dr. Adler is a true GEM! She is available for office hours. If you have any concerns, just talk to her and will figure something out! TAKE HER!
Love Prof Adler, she's the cutest professor and truly cares about her students' success. If you have any problem at all just talk to her privately and she will help you work it out. Only requirement is you attend class and participate, definitely would take again
We studied Jewish history and culture from different angles, and we conduct interesting discussions regarding the material in each session. For me, Hebrew 4001 course should be an essential class for everyone who would like to learn Hebrew in a more advance, interesting and different way.
It is difficult for me to summarize such a fantastic course with a spectacular professor in a few words. Hebrew 4000 is one of the most admirable classes I took at Baruch College. Although I am Israeli, the material was full of excitement and enthusiasm on behalf of Professor Adler, who taught the material most thoroughly
Professor Adler is one of the greatest Professors at Baruch. Although she may appear tough in the beginning, you will quickly learn that it is only because she cares and wants her students to reach their fullest potential. Hebrew with her was wonderful and she focuses a lot on group work. Stay on top of your homework! She is a gem!
this class is a complete joke all she does is yell at you doesn't tell you your grades and just gives assignments with no instruction and than says you did it wrong unless you are her favorite student worse professor I have ever had and that's saying something. do your self a favor just wait till she retires
Show up and show that you care and you will get an A.
Please No! I am a straight-A student, my life revolves around school, this class gave me anxiety, stress, genuine tears not because it was hard but because there is NO ORGANIZATION! SHE IS EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT, NO DOUBT BUT SHE HAS SHORT-TERM MEMORY DOESN'T REMEMBER IF YOU PARTICIPATE IN WHAT SHE ASSIGNS WHEN EXAMS OR PAPERS ARE. Please, don't.
Ruth Adler is an amazing professor. Youwill emeber her and her class for the rest of your life. She influence the way you intereact with literature and will create in you a true love for reading and critically interpret your readings. Thank you so much Ms. Adler,
Prof. Adler's class is truly unforgettable. Her passion for literature inspires a lifelong love of reading and critical thinking. Unstuck study was a game-changer for study prep.
