My favorite teacher so far! The class is somewhat difficult because of the material, but she obviously knows the material and teaches it well. Highly recommend taking this class if you are going for an Associates degree in business.
Very helpful professor. She teaches using the whiteboard which, I believe, is absolutely imperative for this course. On the other hand, lectures can be confusing at first until you get the whole picture, but there is not enough lecture time to clear all matters up. M120 is not an easy class but she tries to keep it simple and straightforward.
She's an amazing professor. The first 3 weeks are the toughest weeks if you're new to accounting because of all the new concepts, but she makes it easy and she's available for tutoring in the library. She's very passionate about accounting and truly cares about her students. She's also VERY lenient about technical issues with online homework.
I am an engineering major and wanted to take accounting just to learn it. This is my least important class but turns out it has an interesting subject with an awesome professor. would recommend
So Professor Bennington is the best I took her for Intro to Accounting and I will take her for Financial Accounting as well she is good, just do your hw and get good grades on quiz's and you will pass
Good clear professor. Learned a lot from her class.
Prof Bennington is great. She is full of personality and cares about her students. Very down to earth, gives great examples, great prof overall Same goes for the Financial and Managerial Classes
I love this Professors clarity, if you do the work and read the book you will do well. Accounting can be tough but this professor will make it as understandable as it can be.
She is AMAZING!!! So flexible on deadlines, funny, great teacher. I learned a LOT in this class
Great Teacher, dropped a class and rearranged my schedule so I could take her again!
She is helpful and in general cares about her students. Go to class and its an easy A.
Professor Bennington is the best I loved her teaching style it fits right for me personally. I also loved that she memorized all of our names. But overall she's a really good professor saved my semister, and she is very chill when it comes to hw deadlines. Lastly she gives quizes instead of test.
I hated this class so much because accounting is such a boring subject for me personally but Professor Bennington made the class bearable by showing she truly cares for the well-being of the students and by incorporating humor into her lectures. The class was tough for me and many others but put in the effort and you will pass.
We all have accents! Who knew? She teaches the class well and tries to set everyone up to succeed.
She is a very good teacher! if you have the opportunity to take her, do it! Accounting is a very hard class and she teaches it pretty well.
She is very nice and teaches the student exactly what should be taught. Tests and quizzes are not bad, the material on them is what should be expected. She also includes practice quizzes to study from. Overall, she is a very nice person and caring professor that I would definitely take again!
Every class (twice a week) we learned new material and was tested on it the following Thurs. Lots of HW but helps with your grade. Lectures/note taking is horrible, she writes what we're going to learn then shows examples and jumps from point A-C-B-D. Doesn't really believe in extra credit because it's extra work for her.
Whoever wrote she doesn't believe in extra credit clearly never went to class. She gives it out for basically nothing all the time. Terrible review of Ruth, she's awesome. I've taken her for every accounting class you can at Moorpark
I've had her for every ACCT class at Moorpark and she's the best. Some of the classes themselves are challenging because of the nature of the material, but she wants to make sure you understand and really does go the extra mile for you if you talk to her. Also provides TONS of Extra Credit.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've had. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS! She knows what she's talking about and is a very fair grader. Offers LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of extra credit! Just show up to class and she'll love you! Very funny and if you ever have the opportunity to take her, do it!
I have taken her every semester of accounting and am so thankful. I'm honestly going to miss class with her. She is thorough with her lectures & is always willing to explain. Has office hours as well. Offers lots of extra credit so it's hard not to pass. She really is lovely. Plus she has an accent which makes accounting just a bit more intriguing!
Good course, the only thing I would critique on is the lack of email response. There were some technical difficulties that when addressed, you were given just a matter of hours to correct. Only reason I am not taking her again is the lack of email communication.
All in all, she is a great teacher. She gives plenty of chances for extra credit, and makes sure no student is left behind. At the same time, if you don't show up, she won't help you.
Mrs. Bennington is a great accounting teacher. She knows the material she is teaching very well and is accessible outside of class if you need extra help. Also, she gives 5 extra credit opportunities which if you take the time to complete all of them it will help your final grade immensely. I would take her again for another class in a heartbeat.
She's an amazing professor that's willing to learn with her students. She wants everyone to succeed but is no nonsense about this class. She is open to extra credit, but you do have to attend class or you can get behind in lectures. Would take again for any accounting class ever. She prepares you for a future in accounting, if need be
The course itself has A LOT of material but she does a good job breaking it down and really tries to make time and accommodates for students who may be struggling. She is open to pushing HW deadlines, as well as curving tests. She is a very good professor that wants to make sure you get it and get a good grade
do NOT miss class. do her homework. do not skip hws cause it will come back to bite you in the future. she gives out multiple extra credit opportunities so do them! she gives out about 3-4 take home quizzes.- get full points on those.!by the time finals arrive, if you have done the above, you should not be stressing about her final too much.
This is by far the best professor I have ever had. I took for her financial and managerial accounting. She offers 20 points of extra credit. Do all of the assigned homework, and study for the tests. The sample quizzes she hands out helps a lot for the tests. If you don't understand it, she is willing to explain. She cares about her students.
Prof. Bennington is a fast-paced, hard-working teacher who is a highly experienced accountant. She will answer any questions you may have about the material. Her accent is enjoyable (I can never say "debit"/"credit" without using an Irish accent now). She does NOT cater to lazy students and offers plenty of EC. Practice, and do the HW! I did not.
She's one of the nicest teachers I've had in my academic career. It's not an easy subject but she makes it bearable and enjoyable at times. She seems to really care about her students, if you try hard she'll acknowledge you. I got an A in the class, I felt like I really deserved a B.
Very knowledgeable, her Irish accent is nice to listen to, makes things more clear and succinct. Took her over the summer so it was very accelerated and sometimes overwhelming but I'm sure she is MUCH easier during the fall or spring.
I can't praise P. Bennington enough. This is NOT an easy class. I got an A but almost certainly wouldn't have if I didn't have such a great and helpful professor. She makes an extremely tedious and difficult (in my opinion) subject much more bearable. Lots of extra credit is offered. Show up, do your work, and she'll help you out. GREAT professor!
ACCOUNTING IS HORRIBLE. most people could agree. But luckily, prof. Bennington makes class so much more enjoyable. She is great with helping you even if you think your question may be stupid. also gives a lot of extra credit
Would take this professor again, she's the best. If you actually do your work and study for tests, then you will do fine
Prof Bennington is a heaven-sent, I just adore her. She makes acct'g easy to understand and she genuinely cares about her students. I wish she would teach econ too! SO knowledgeable and has a real talent for teaching. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Accounting is difficult and I'm glad I chose her for this class. DO THE HOMEWORK AND EXTRA CREDIT! I didn't do well on a couple of the tests but because I did the homework and EC I was able to keep an A. A few people blew off the HW and totally buried their own grave. Ruth definitely will go out of her way to help you, but you have to ask!
All homework is done on line and your grade is given instantly. Tests are always straightforward and fair. Best accounting professor at Moorpark
SHE IS AMAZING. The topic gets a little hard but she is good at explaining it. Clear grading criteria. MANY e/c opportunities. Accessible outside of class & is very involved in the school/town. Tests are questions from examples, HW or quizzes. 1 quiz & 1 HW per chapter. 4 tests + 1 final. All around amazing. I wish she taught more subjects!!
Great teacher. Gave about 10 times extra credit opportunities and gave additional points at the end of the semester to be nice. Would definitely recommend and am taking her again. Best teacher ive ever had
Lots of online homework, but you have two chances if you mess one up. Roughly 5-6 exams that are 20 points (couple are take home), final worth 60 points. Offers extra credit. Hilarious and fun, thoroughly teaches the material, tests reflect material. The people who struggle were the ones not paying attention (or present) in class. Will take again.
I took Prof Bennington for Financial and Managerial accounting, managerial I took over summer, financial was a full semester class. Shes awesome! She knows what shes talking about, and is super clear when shes teaching. Homework and quizzes are online, and theres about 6 tests, 2-3 of them typically are take home. She genuinely cares about us.
Professor Bennington is an amazing and inspiring professor! She really cares for her students' overall well-being, whether its academically or emotionally. The class is a breeze as long as you pay attention to her lectures. Also, STUDY the study guide! Her exams are pretty much the same as the study guide just with different numbers.
Prof. Bennington is the best professor I have ever had at Moorpark. She is so sweet and caring. She is always willing yo help you with any questions you may have. The material can be difficult at times but she is always open to explaining further.
I took Ruth Bennington for M110 & M120 & passed both times without the textbook. This is my 6th semester at Moorpark and she is by far one of the best professors there. She is very kind and truly cares about her students. grading criteria is very clear, and all quizzes and homework are online. If you do the work you will pass this class no problem
Great, motivating professor. Took her online Intro to Accounting class. Hence, I have dropped this class twice and this was my final attempt. I received an A which i never thought I would get. She is a great professor and really loves what she teaches!
Professor Ruth is an amazing teacher. She really cares about students and knows the subject very well. Her outlines and lectures helped me understand better versus the textbook. She's always willing to answer any question you may have. One of the nicest teachers in Moorpark. I will miss her class.
I took her course Fall 2018. She is an amazing professor. This was my favorite course, and I loved learning accounting from her lectures. She uses the boards a lot to show how to do the problems and is willing to explain. I would definitely recommend taking courses from her.
Very understanding and helpful
Amazing!!! She explains everything is depth, really tries to make you understand. Takes her time with the topics we are covering and will spend extra time if needed covering the subject. Super understanding just be able to talk to her. One of the best!! Allows extra credit.
Knows her subject well!! Shes funny and is always up for a good conversation, but teaches a lot and does it great. Has many extra credit opportunities. If you do all the homework and online reading assignments you are guaranteed to pass!
Professor Bennington was honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. She understands that accounting is not for everyone and she will take as much time as she needs to make sure the class understands. If you have to take accounting, 100% take it with this professor. Amazing class! one of my favorites!
Prof. Bennington is probably one of the best professors at Moorpark college. She is super nice and her class is very easy to understand and follow along with. If you want an A, do the homework and the online quizzes and participate in class. Tests are easy if you are in class and study. Overall an amazing professor and would recommend to anyone.
Teaches well, gives online HW that is due once a week and will help with understanding the material. Is very open to questions in class and will help you understand concepts. Tests are simple and she usually gives study guides that help a lot.
Although she doesnt believe in this site i had to leave a review i took her 110 and 120 class and she was a professor that has the most impact on me. Shes a great teacher but also cares about her students, i wish i could take more classes with her!
She is super nice and caring and really helps you understand the subject. I had her for 110 and 120. If you show up, take notes, do the homework, and extra credit, it will help immensely. She gives great study guides.
Professor Bennington is the best. Extremely organized and knowledgable. Genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. Readings and homework can become tedious but they will help you understand the material better. One of, if not, the best professor I've ever had
She was an amazing teacher, smart and funny, but still the subject matter can be difficult to grasp. As long as you show up to class and work hard you can get an A in this class. There's online homework every week but that helps with your grade in case you don't do too well on the tests.
By far Professor Bennington is one of the best teachers I've had in my 3 years at Moorpark. She is kind and extremely understanding and was quick in responses to any questions I had. I cannot recommend her enough. We used the McGraw Hill online for all of our readings and homework, and quizzes through Canvas. Seriously, TAKE HER CLASS!! (:
Absolutely loved her class, finished her 6-week course in 3 weeks because of the unlocked format of the course. No midterms or finals, just quizzes and tests which are fairly easy. Do the work and you'll pass without a problem. She also drops the lowest quiz and test! Winning!
She's not very responsive to students regardless of the modality. I have emailed her, called her office line, and nothing. I would look for a more nurturing professor at VC or OC. You don't want to feel like you're inconveniencing someone anytime you have a question, it's her job and for whatever reason, she doesn't care.
I loved this class! I need to take another accounting class, and I will gladly be choosing Bennington again. Her lecture notes were super helpful and the test review sheets really help prepare you. I loved how she formatted the class, and she even opened it up a week early so we could get a head start if we wanted (Definitely do this).
She was an overall good professor but when it came to testing time. I would send an email with a specific question, but she always seemed to go around it. Making me have to explain to her all over again along with adding on to the previous email.
Professor Bennington is an excellent choice for finishing one of the last classes needed to transfer. I had a full course load since this is my last semester before transferring and her class was enough so it did not feel overwhelming. Do all the assignments on time and you'll get an A. Also was a short 14 week course. Would recommend :)
I took an eight weeks class, since it was fast paced the homework was more than normal, Prof. Bennington was very helpful and encouraging, I would absolutely take another class with her, one of the most amazing Professor I have ever had. Make sure to do all the homework and quizzes and you can pass this class easily.
Easy class, don't slack off and stay on top of assignments. You'll pass. She's a sweetheart and can help you if you reach out to her for help :)
very kind and understanding. each module contains homework, questions from reading; quiz w/ <10 questions; discussion post. offers multiple ways of learning(can go to a live lecture, watch a recording, read her notes, read the book, look at the book's how to videos). 5 tests total w/ about <15 questions each, final not cumulative
Prof. Bennington is such a sweetheart! In this class, you can put as much or as little effort as you want. She offers tons of additional activities to further your knowledge. Lots of homework questions for each chapter (30+) and a lot of reading, especially if you are taking over summer. (3 chapters weekly) Taking lecture notes helps for quizzes.
Always fell behind on grading discussions. The class was made up of only busywork that didn't prepare you for the quiz. All of the assignments took over an hour and were for very few points. Test/quiz questions were unnecessarily complicated and confusing. Only saving grace was being allowed to use course materials while taking the test.
Prof Bennington seems like a nice lady but this course is just busywork. The MCGRAW program that is being used is just work work work. It is tedious. The quizzes were fairly easy. There are also discussion posts but I took this course in the summer and there were no discussions. During the semester, however, there are discussions.
Took this over the summer for 8 weeks and it was very, very difficult. It was massive amounts of busy work that I did till 1 AM and it gets very confusing. By the end I had no clue what was going on. The only reason I was able to get a B is because the tests doesn't affect your grade a lot. But Ruth is a kind teacher and wants to help you.
No video lectures which kind of sucks for such technical topics and course work. However, there was certainly resources provide to succeed. Homework assignments and McGraw hill readings were sooo repetitive and often redundant but for students who actually want to learn accounting, this course is amazing. I wish there were presentations though:(
Professor Bennington offers lots of opportunities to succeed in her class. Don't slack off! Her quizzes are relevant to the material taught in the course and the smartbook readings definitely help for notes :) Take her for both managerial and financial accounting if you can/have to!
I took this class in 4 weeks over the summer, and it was super accessible. I was busy for a lot of it, and fell off in the last week and did about half of the work. I ended up with a 90%. The homework is on the textbook, and honestly there's not much in the lecture notes that isn't in the textbook. Overall 10/10
i took her online summer class and it wasn't difficult but it wasnt easy she uses the McGraw program which costs $70 but most of the hw can be found its just long and tedious but her tests are a little difficult but overall if you try an A isnt that difficult
Great Prof. with an easy accounting curriculum.
By far my favorite professor at Moorpark College! She has a great sense of humor and helps students to achieve their goals in her class. I would recommend her as a teacher to any student!!!
I took Professor Ruth Bennington's PACE M110 and there was so much busy work. Although I was able to learn the concepts of accounting, the sheer amount of work is rather overwhelming. Expect 6-8 assignments, 1-2 quizzes, and 0-1 tests PER WEEK for the PACE program. If you're okay with lots of busy work and have good time management, I recommend.
Very experienced and knowledgeable professor. Explains concepts well! Must put in work to pass. Workload consists of 5 exams which must be taken in person and do not allow notes. However, study guides are just like the tests only with different numbers. 10 homework , 10 short quizzes, 3 long assessment problem assignments. Attendance is mandatory
Prof. Bennington is a gem! She is extremely patient, approachable, and funny. Material is difficult and heavy at times, so trust the process and work hard. Prof. gives lectures, lots of practice problems, and practice tests that prep. you very well for tests. Homework comes from McGraw, and quizzes are given through canvas, with two attempts.
She cares A LOT! Offers extra credit at end of semester! may be a little scary to talk to but get to know her and she is the sweetest
Professor Bennington has a bad temper. She only likes to deal with Asian students. She doesn't have patience. She is sort of snappy. She scared me to the point that I had to drop her class. I don't understand how is that Moorpark College has still some professors like her. Moorpark College really needs to do a clean up on their Business Dept.
Barely any homework, tests are moderately difficult but can be passed with a small amount of studying. Professor Bennington is very helpful in class and she really loves her job. She wants everyone to succeed and will definitely do all she can to make that happen.
Professor Ruth Bennington is an extremely caring person. As per the quizzes, the tests are all fairly easy and she will just test you based on whatever is on the practice exam ( There are NOT any surprises ) so don't worry and don't panic.
Homework, quizzes, and lectures do not prepare you much for the exams. Exams have a one hour time limit and involve a high volume of material. Would not recommend.
Had her class for an online summer class for Accounting201. Very kind lady that wants your engagement as she replies fast and is very accessible. As for the classwork, had a tight schedule as it was only a 4 week class, but seemed to manage. Ruth gives you an option to pick between Smartbook or other (forgot name) for weekly homework assignments.
Shes a decent professor in the sense that she's nice and understanding, but omg the amount of homework is crazy. It's so tedious and honestly annoying, that the amount of work makes you not want to do it anymore and give up. Its not hard to get a good grade but try to take a teacher thats easier and more to the point bc its hard to balance classes.
Professor Bennington is a very nice and understanding person. I took her class both online and in person; in-person was way better. Easy tests with study guides. Her half-semester classes have a lot of homework (not recommended) try to get a full semester in person. I don't recommend online and half-semester classes.
Ruth Bennington was a perfectly fine professor, but the class load was daunting for an 8 week PACE course. That's not her fault, of course. I would make sure you aren't loaded up with tough courses if you plan to do this in 9 weeks.
Prof Bennington is always wanting you to succeed. She is always there if you need help, but all of her assignments are relevant and generally easy to complete.
Good teacher. $70 textbook for 2 month course tho.
Professor Bennington was extremely helpful and always wanted her students to succeed. Whenever somebody had any sort of question, she would never criticize no matter how many times they asked.
11 chpters total, each with a McGrawHill assignment (1-2 hours per) & MC Quiz(2 tries). Lecture vids & notes avail but I relied on txtbk for most. Graded quiz has explanations. 5 Tests, not cumulative, fill-in-blank+mc(1try). Can't rely on Quizlet. 8 Discussions, took weks to grade. Had some attitude when I emailed over spring brk but replied fast.
I was so glad that I looked up rate my professor for her because everything I've read is true. She is very caring and provides information above and beyond what an average student would need to comprehend the subject matter. The summer course was 3 chapters per week for four weeks, but I stayed on top of it and ended up getting an A.
Great teacher, used a program for financial accounting. Good amount of homework so just be ready for that, but as long as your on top of your work and pay attention to due dates and read lecture notes you'll be good.
