Nice and paitent teacher!

8 workshops and 4 journals during the term(wow,it's really a lot).Though u complete the assignments,and did quizes well, u have to pass the final;otherwise u just get a U in the end.

I like her. she's a very good teacher. clear, well orgazied and east to get along with.

She's one of the best English teacher at Langara. Such a great woman with beauty and brain. I like her a lot!

A nice and patient teacher who does not mind to spend extra office hour to go over the essays with you. Try to write extra workshops (essays) and time yourself because the 2 midterms (one paragraph, one essay) only give you 55min to finish.

She treats students w/ respect + a big smile. Though sometimes she gives unclear instructions in class, but always provides great help + encouragement when we go find her for help. Seems like she cares us individually in a personal way. Great teacher!!

she is nice and beautiful, always smile, but don't expect to pass, a little bit , she always give you 14.5/15, 15 to pass the course, she always tell you , try to work harder next time.

What's up with these people. Okay, she's very helpful teacher with very informative details about grammars. BUT she gives so many tests, 8 workshops, 6 summarys and does sweet talk to convince people to assure they'll get into 1127..It's complete lie! Only 1 or 2 people from class got S..****

I love her!!! She is the best English teacher I've ever had! Also, she's not a hard-marker! She is very fair in marking 'cause she always provides us great help. Lots of homework, tests but reasonable. Final exam is predictable!If you are hard working, you'll get S easily! Take her and you won't regret!

OMG she is the best english teacher i ever had!! she teaches very well and gatta love her personality. she marks kinda strict, but this is the only way we can learn english. we have to complete 5 journals and 8 essays by the end of the term..which is lots of work.. but when u get use to it, it'll be fine. i strongly recommend her! it'll be fun=)

I took her class once n she's very very nice. As long as u get ur work done, she doesn't care if u attend the class or not. Just don't fall asleep cuz she can be a lil bit boring.

Ruth is the best prof.She teaches with clarity & enthusiasm.She is good at teaching grammar & essay rules.I've learned way more from her class than my previous eng1107-spring.I'm glad that I chose her class.Need to complete 5journals+8workshop essays by the end of the term.The workshop's not that easy, but if youre patient,you'll surely get an "S".

Awesome teacher!!! I HIGHLYYYYY RECOMMEND her!! she doesnt require u to attend her class....as long as complete all ur work....and the work is nicely spread apart...so u dont have to worry about cramping everything together...

I've taken her twice from 1107 and 1108.. I highly recommend anyone who will take 1107/1108. Whenever there's grammar rule that's not clear of, she's always willing to answer questions.. She's very professional and sweet lady..She gives summary and workshop to do, but she's the best English teacher for Eng 1107/1108!

shi is THE BEST FOR 1107!!!Almost 1/3 of her second section last term get an"S";however other classes not teached by Ruth has few people pass.If you want to get an S,choose her!!!

She is a very nice instructor.I learned so many grammer rules. Her problem book is very helpful. She mark a little hard, so you need to go to her office frequently,and she will be very patient to mark your paper.

Some students misunderstand the point. Failing this course doesn't hurt your GPA; however, if you pass this course with insufficient English proficiency and get screwed in ENGL1127, your GPA takes a hit. She prevents the worst scenario for students. By the way, she is one of the best instructors you can pick for 1107 along with Slade and Font.

She is really nice. Using her office hours effectively will help you improve your English studying. Many study materials and assignments in her class,so get ready to have a busy class.It's really helpful in my English studying. Highly recommend her if you want to pass the course.

She's a very nice prof but there r a lot of work to be done in order to pass. A very important tip: DO NOT LEAVE ALL THE WORKSHOP ESSAYS (8 or 9 of it) TILL THE VERY END OF THE SEM! She expects u to finish 4 b4 the 1st mt & the other 4 b4 the final. When she handed it back to u, u have to EDIT it till she had written “ACCEPTED” to move on. Gd luck!

kinda hard to pass, but try hard!

She is a really nice and down to earth professor. Kind of a hard marker but she is very approachable if you need help with your essay. Be sure to pass all the workshops. Don't worry much about the attendance and quiz, trust me. Haha. But anyways, I passed her subject. Learned a lot from her especially in writing. I recommend you to take her class!

Seems easy but she fails international students.You can do all hw, workshops, quizzes etc. Anyway, if you are an international don't take her.

Ruth is one of the best prof that you can have at Langara. I am an international student and I got an S. Her class was not very difficult for ESL students. What you need to do is to pay attention in class, finish all the workshops, summaries, and worksheets on time and use her office hours. Ruth definitely tries her best to help students out:)

She is so nice!!! Essays are due every week, but you will have enough time to do it at home. Very helpful, and she will answer all your questions. She will also go through the midterm paper one by one. But vocabulary quizzes are quite hard, make sure you know every single word, know how to use them in a sentence. Overall, thumbs up!

Easy going. Talking with her face to face is much better than sending an email.

An easygoing teacher. She will make sure you catch up if you're falling behind schedule. She will try everything in order to get you pass (but you must work hard in all the paragraphs and essays).

She is easy going and super helpful. She actually tells you what could've been done and not some useless crap like the meaning of the paragraph needs to be tweaked a little.

Not sure about the other classes, but i took her to get into first year english course so it was pretty easygoing . As for the grades, if you study hard on the grammers , you should be fine i guess.

Patient, approachable teacher. Just hand in all the workshops on time and prepare for the weekly test and you will be fine. Highly recommend her class.

A really really good teacher

She is a kind teacher. If you want to learn grammar more, you should choose her. I had a grammar quiz once a week and a vocabulary quiz once in two weeks. However, to get S was really hard for me. Just make an effort and try your best!

Ruth is best professor for English 1107 courses. You will get S if u do workshops and pay attention in class discussions and exercises. He is best instructor for International Students as she go over very small details of the grammar. 10/10 professor.

She is a caring professor. Make sure to do the workshops early if you can, so you can immediately get feedback and redo them. If you have a decent sense of grammar, this class is a piece of cake.

Great teacher - really nice and funny. Her class was easy because she is clear with explaining her expectations of students. Textbook was used every day; she gives amazing feedback and is very available to help both inside and outside of class. Perfect choice for international student. complete your workshop on time and be good in grammar.

She is amazing!Her 1107 is more focus on grammar. It's very good for international students or someone whose first language is not English. You will gain so many different structure through this course. You will write 8 workshops which include 4 paragraphs and4 essays. You also gain new vocabularies in this course. really recommend!
