Good teacher almost everything is straight from the book pretty clear lessons but gives ALOT more homework than is needed
She is great. She is available to help you during her office hours and if you want to do well, she will help you.I highly recommend her.
This teacher is the best. She is very helpful and clear on the lesson plan. I would recommend her for anyone. She is very willing to help in any way she can. Great Class!!!
She is the best math teachers I've had. She is there to help you. Put in the time and she'll get you through. Tests are your grade. You don't have to turn your homework in but you should do it, to know the material. Great teacher
She is a great professor. Her lessons are clear and easy to follow. She is always available for extra help if need be. I have had a wonderful experience with her thus far!
i really hated her class, she was very confusing and i dont think she thought math very well,, plus she treated us all like children just because 1 or 2 kids in the class, i recommend taking someone else who knows how to teach the math
I got an A but I really don't like the way she teaches. You have a quiz every morning. They are easy A's if you do the homework. Her tests are not bad either. She doesn't try to stump you with HUGE numbers to fiddle with.keeps it simple. Make sure that you ask/answer questions in class as that is part of your grade.
Don't take her she is a horrible teacher, i excel at algebra but she still found a way to give me a D which is failing. Quiz every class practically, if you don't get algebra well then don't take her especially she doesn't really help people who don't get it, she babies everything.
Great teach, she was very clear and helpful. I am not a math person AT ALL and she made it very clear and easy..TAKE THIS TEACHER!!
Great instructor! Lesson plans were clear, very organized, pre-printed notes really helped when following along with lectures in class. She was always available for help during her office hours. I am not a math person, but being in her class sure made me feel like one!
Anyone who got a poor grade either didn't study or didn't ask for help when they needed it. When I went to office hours she was there and helped me until my confusion was cleared up. She provides notes with sample problems that she reviews in lecture. She also provides section reviews that closely resemble the exam . You get the grade you earn!
I don't know what any of you are talking about, Mrs. Chabot is a pretty good and FAIR teacher overall. Her lessons are clear and to the point. She answers questions thoroughly and is always available for help. The only downfall is yes, a quiz almost every class and sometimes she'll pull out a random question or two for the tests. Good teacher tho!
If you don't like homework, she's great, doesn't grade it. If you want to learn from someone that show's interest in her job, cares about what she does or has more personality than the text book, find someone else.
She was fair..do your homework even though she doesnt grade it because that'swhere she gets the quizes from...shes alway available for help and if you stick with the class she offers extra credit. its not the easiest class because after all it is math but she helpsas much as possible but you have to helpyourself as well
Try to avoid for Calculus if she ever teaches it. I took her for the summer term and she is as dry as a nail. Did not show any interest in her teaching. Ive always did good in math but this class was hard. She told me that I need to see special ed people on campus because I was getting c's on my test. I just went to the tutors to get the work done.
Average. No hw. No calcs on test
She was a great teacher. She gave us homework and collected a least one problem from the homework (and graded it) She told us what would be on the quizes and stuck to it. The tests were on exactly what she said. She would answer ANY questions (stupid or not). She's not exactly enthusiastic, but shes a great teacher.
I'm dual enrolled and I took this class as a junior and I still was able to pass with a 99% average. If you do your homework, study and prepare well, you will excel. I really don't see how anyone could fail this class. She's a very good teacher.
She's a good math teacher. nothing really exciting to the class and she always seems a little disorganized but a good step-by-step teacher. If you're good at math you will probably find her boring because she goes through all the little baby steps. Homework was not required and always gave us a study sheet before each test.
She is lifeless and looks like she could use a hug! but she is a good teacher. One of the better choices in my vote at BCC.
Great teacher!! I have taken intermediate and college algebra with her and these classes have helped me a lot. I def. recommend this class!
Took her for calc 2. Class was based mostly on tests but we couldn't have any formula sheets which is pretty ridiculous for some of those formulas. Also very little time to take the tests. Great class to learn in, but the grade is important too. Consider finding a different teacher
She failed to tell you that attendance is required, and that if you don't show up to class, you lose points, the class was very boring, i'm decent with math, and did really good on the tests, but because I couldn't stand going to class, I failed because of losing points, of course I find this out at the end of the year after the class is over.
Great Teacher! Not the easiest as she requires you to memorize formulas. Simple Scientific Calculator only. She is very helpful in class and during office hours, rebuttle to the previous comment about her being dry, she is actually funny and pretty cool if you talk to her as a person but clearly she isn't trying to entertain in class only teach.
Do your homework, go to class everyday, and ask questions. I missed a couple of classes and almost ended up with a B because of it. She comes off as dry and standoffish at first but you can tell that she loves math and teaching. Sometimes I just wanted to brush her hair.
Loved her! I had a terrible time with math until I took her class. She knows how to teach, very straight to the point no BS. Don't miss class and do the homework you will pass.
She's a great teacher & loves math. She presents the material in a way that is easy to understand, doesn't tolerate a loud classroom or, cater to the person who wants to take up all the class time by asking a hundred questions that she already explained 3 times. She's available at specific times outside of class to help. And, she's young and cute!
She was wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about her. I loved going to math class (prior, I hated it..). She explained things so well, and if you do the homework and pay attention in class, you will do well. I had an A until she left on maternity leave. I had a B as a final..
Good teacher. Study and you'll do fine. If you struggle with Math, take her and she will make it very understandable! Take her!
What a great instructor!I took her over the spring and she made algebra so much easier to understand. When I ran into trouble doing homework, she was always available to help during office hours. She is a no nonsense teacher and her class is not "fun" but you will learn a lot and that is why your there.I would take her again in a heartbeat.Got an A!
I use to dread going to her class. She doesn't teach at all. If you need to learn, don't take her. Her personality is dryer than chalk. I had to withdraw to keep from failing since I actually needed to learn, and all she did was sit at her desk and do math problems on the overhead, super quick, without explaining a thing!
She is an awesome teacher! Math has always been difficult for me, but she is very helpful and clear when she teaches.Do all the mathXL homework and study for her tests you should pass with no problems!
Awesome teacher!! Taking her again this semester :)
I hated math. I did not understand it at all. BUT this lady changed my mind. She explains everything and even reviews what you "should already know" before doing the new stuff. She does have a sense of humor, but you have to listen for it. She give study guides before test and is very helpful during office hours. TAKE HER if you want to LEARN&PASS
Mrs. Chabot prints out all the notes for you! so no textbook necessary. I never opened mine. I finished this class with a 106%. The tests match the notes, and there are no surprises. To sum it up; She's an awesome teacher!
Mrs. Chabot is the best! I hate math, but she explains everything and goes over everything well. I had her two semesters in a row and I got high A's in both of her classes. Now I'm in college algebra and have Mr. Galli, and I just got a 68% on my first test in his class. He goes too fast. I want Mrs. Chabot back!
Awesome teacher! She's the reason I don't hate Math anymore
Ruth is a great teacher and if your follow her packets you will pass her class. She is willing to help after class and also sets up multiple tutor sessions thru out the semester. 2nd time taking her she is a great teacher
Ms. Chabot has a very clear way to "cut to the chase" and teach by use of her hand-outs. College Algebra is really tough for me, and I never enjoyed Algebra, but she has made it really clear and understandable and now I truly enjoy it! She is patient, kind, easy to talk to, and and respects all viewpoints and welcomes ideas. Very encouraging
She was a great teacher. She gave us notes each class, which helped a lot. She gave a lot of tests but they were very easy. All homework was online.
Ms. Chabots class was curriculum wise, the same as any of the MAT 1033 classes at EFSC. The difference was she was easy to approach and never made you feel bad about asking for help. She made herself available to her students. Also, test review matched the test material very well. Study, attend class, and pay attention you will pass.
Awesome! Always available for advising. I enjoyed her class and her teaching style. Examples are giving similar homework and exams. Show up and do the work and you'll do well. I recommend her to anyone.
She is one of the best math teachers I have had. Unfortunately, I still am barely managing a C (crossing my fingers/studying myself to death for the final tomorrow) but most people have a very different experience. I blame my high school algebra teacher.
I had her for Intermediate and College Algebra, and both classes were easy for me. Study the packets she hands out and any review sheet for the tests. The review sheets are almost identical to the tests. For CA, STUDY THE GRAPHS!!! They were hard to understand and were the only thing I seriously struggled with. Otherwise, I recommend her!
She gives a worksheet, she works it with you step by step. Gives you a whole week to do like 10-20 questions of homework (50 at the most which I completed within 2 hours). After the worksheet is completed, she give you a review sheet, completes it the next class, and then the test is exactly like the review sheet with different numbers. I'm lazy.
My algebra teachers were garbage. Barely passing with low Cs and occasionally had to do makeup credit for making a D. I felt like I haven't learned anything algebra related since 8th grade in middle school, yet here comes Professor Chabot, making it an easy A with easy steps that are easy to follow. Just study the review sheet and pass the test. :D
She is easy to follow along with, and makes sure you understand everything before moving on. I would recommend her. Study guides make the test easier. Keeps you the whole class with strict three day attendance policy.
she is a bad instructor, doesn't work with student. Tried to visit office hours would email and she would respond initially until she left office. She losses work easily and is hard to understand. I would recommend taking her class. many students fail. She does not care about students inside or outside of class
She is a great instructor! Does not throw curve-balls, gives you packets that you work through together as a class. Very welcoming to questions. She gives you the building blocks to learn, doesn't jump from one thing to another. Very clear and organized.
Took her for 1033 & 1105. Best math teacher I've ever had! Hands out packets to do along with her. GOOD study guides for tests! Class before test is spent reviewing and answering questions. Uses My Math Lab, very helpful and It can reteach. Replaces lowest test with final. Gives partial credit on tests if close. Not a walk in the park though.
Taking Professor Chabot for Precalculus/Trig and she is very good at what she does, she always answers questions with ease and is a true mathematician. Great teachers liker her make me excited to delve deeper into upcoming math courses and not afraid. She makes sure you have a clear understanding of whats on each quiz/test and gives partial credit.
Mrs. Chabot was the best math teacher I've ever had. I'm so sad that she isn't teaching Statistics because the teacher I have now is awful. Mrs. Chabot took her time every class making sure we all understood each lesson. I always thought I was terrible at math, but Mrs. Chabot truly helped me when it came to understanding math. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
A lot of home work. Only puts in test grades. Lectures are very boring. Not allowed to use calculator.
Great teacher that truly understands math. She always takes time to go over homework and answer any questions. Class consists of graded homework problems, occasional quizzes that she prepares you for, and tests. She gives a test review for each test and as long as you do it and understand the material you will be fine. Highly recommend.
I took Mrs. Chabot and this is the first time i was excited by the fact that i actually understood the math i was taught. She is an amazing teacher and will always explain further if there is any confusion. Offers practice problems to help guide you.
Fantastic teacher. She is always on topic 100% of the time and knows calculus inside and out, and she explains the information very well. she is also a caring and kind person who will help out her students. However her classes are a lot of work and are tough but you will learn.
Took this prof for Calc 1 Online, she is not willing to work with students when it comes to making up a assignment that was missed. No teaching involved it is all based on the book and the program that comes with the book, so was confused as to what she was "teaching" when it was all on us.
I tried taking Cal 1 last semester ONLINE and dropped it. Took it the second time ONLINE with Ruth Chabot and was amazed. She is Awesome !! I was able to maintain a B the whole semester. Just keep up with the assignments and do ALL of the test reviews and you should do well. She also provide many resources for the course work. Good Luck :)
never failed a class until now. NO
This class is test heavy. I have made all A's in all of my other math classes. This class is so hard. I worked about 20-25 hours a week on homework and still had to take a W because I was going to get anF
Mrs. Chabot is amazing, arguably the best math teacher I've ever had. If you're a math person, you will love this class. I would recommend taking it 4 times a week rather than twice a week. She gives amazing lectures with detailed notes and examples and always takes questions. Do the assigned homework even though it's not graded.
Lectures to fast its hard to keep up. Does not care about her students and does not work with you.
Mrs. Chabot was a good professor overall. Her lectures are really fast paced so you need to be paying attention every time possible because it is a lot of content. If you do the practice questions on the study guide, you should be ready for the test, however, her tests are far from being easy so make sure you manage your time wisely to do well.
Professor Chabot is a very hard teacher. I don't think she really cares how her students do. The midterm and final is worth 40% of your grade. This class is very test heavy. If you are not a good test taker do not take her.
Professor Chabot is a tough professor. Be ready to work hard, lots of hours of doing homework that does not help you. She is test heavy, worth over 40% of your grade. Just be ready to work.
Your tests make up 72% of your grade.....
Beware she is a really hard teacher. Test are worth too much of the grade.
Mrs Chabot is a very nice professor, but if you struggle with math DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. If you already have a background in college algebra itll be alot easier
BEST math teacher I have had. I highly recommend Professor Chabot. There is a lot of homework, but it is very easy. If you don't do homework, you will fail. I was super happy to find out that she also teaches college algebra and I'm for sure taking that class since she teaches it.
I had a proctored midterm and final through proctoru. Review quizzes often did not match the tests, I work full time I didn't have the time to fully understand concepts, I needed examples. The review quizzes were not similar to questions asked in the lessons so I couldn't go back and look for examples. Did send out helpful email remainders though.
The tests are nothing like the homework she gives us, i recommend not taking this teacher if you struggle with math. Nice lady though.
I took this class for a credit and had to withdraw. She gives a ton of homework and its only 10% of the grade and tests are the rest. If you are not a good test taker I do not recommend this class! If math is your weak subject, use a little extra time and money to take a developmental class first. This class put a bad taste in my mouth for college.
Super helpful when you reach out to her, and very understanding of personal situations. Lots of HW, but its pretty manageable.
This is a great teacher! If you are wanting to take college algebra with a teacher who teaches the lessons greatly in detail and doesn't just skip over things, test are usually around 10 questions, normal load of homework, take her. She made this class for me so much easier.
She was the most unhelpful teacher I have ever had, anytime I asked for help she would say she couldn't or be not much help. This class was not that hard for a higher math but she mad it hard to get a good grade. There were about 6 to 10 hw assignments a week and barely counted any of it towards the final grade. She can also be condescending at times
If you miss a test day, even with a doctors note you will NOT be allowed to make it up. The class itself is easy but she is not very understanding and there is so much homework that ends up only being 10% of the final grade. The homework is not very helpful to what is on the tests. Would not recommend if you can find a better option
I vehemently implore anyone to avoid her classes. Errors in study guides, did not teach, explained formulas/equations incorrectly, and continuously made errors in Aleks that wasted dozens of hours of my time. I actually left class more confused than when I arrived. When trying to study for the final, she locked me out of Aleks. Reprehensible.
Calc is a 5 credit hour course, there is a lot of weekly homework/assignments but that's expected with the amount of credit hours the class is. Tests weren't terrible, I did awful on the midterm but still have a decent grade. She is VERY understanding about life happening and has a lot of flexibility built into her schedule. Would take again.
Prof. Chabot is easy to get into contact with and she responds very quickly. If she makes a mistake she owns it, apologizes, and reexplains. Lots of flexibility to get work done and the test date is the last date to turn in the entire section and bc you have so much flexibility, no, she will not extend the test due date which is justified.
Mrs. Chabot was awesome! I took this class online, so there was little interaction, as expected with a math class. Whenever I had a question, she emailed me back within the hour with a detailed response. She gives partial credit for most things, and I found her to be a very fair grader. Test heavy, but the huge majority are open book/note.
Looking for a calc professor who won't kill your GPA? Take Professor Chabot!! Super fair grader, gave partial credit on everything I emailed her about. Gave EC for hw completed w/ >75%. 4 unit tests (not proctored), midterm and final (proctored). 2-4 hw lessons per week & either a worksheet or quiz per lesson, all due on day of nearest unit test.
Most students who take this class struggle in math. So why are these classes two hours long and offered in a shortened semester? This is a lot of work and if you need more time to understand a concept - too bad.
ONLINE COURSE: Work is long about 3-8 hours a week, but pretty easy for half the course. Difficulty ramps up quick at the end though. easy A+ just by completing all assignments. Exams are worth 60% of your entire grade, but the exams are graded based on %of course finished, not how good you scored. Extremely forgiving of mistakes, super sweet prof.
I took Mrs Chabot for Intermediate Algebra and it was my easiest class. I don't like math but she made this course become one of my favorites. She went over all the material throughly and made sure everyone had lots of time to practice and understand everything. She just was a great teacher. Attendance is mandatory so keep that in mind.
2 Honorlock tests (final & midterm) count for 60% of your grade. DO the optional practice knowledge checks b/c your tests will have the same type of questions. Aleks h/w =20%, but u must do it, and the weekly canvas worksheets =20%. All the questions are pulled from Alek's assignments. She leaves good feedback & is pretty easygoing.
I liked how she taught us, we did have several days off from the hurricane in 2024 which was a little difficult to make up but if it hadn't been for the hurricane i'd say it is a wonderful professor.
Genuinely if you are planning on taking her class please don't (at least for alg). She gives so much homework that is worth nearly nothing gradewise. All she does is go over worksheets but doesn't explain what she's doing. You basically just copy what she writes and then hope that you get it later down the road.
