The class was easy and interesting. The quizzes and tests weren't very hard as long as you read the assigned texts.

she is super nice but does not seem to care at all for teaching english. she is more interested in drama. but her class was super easy, be prepared to be confused on what she wants from the students.
Easy A. Class isn't really about English though. She is in some kind of Theather/Drama/Broadway thingy so you'll hear a lot about that in class. Defintely an easy A.
Easy A. Comp 1301 & 1302. Wrote only a few papers.
Teacher that is a caffeine addict and will sometimes frazzle out while speaking. As amusing as it may seem, it sometimes makes it difficult to follow what she's talking about. She goes off on tangents and assigns short essays almost every class period. You can get away with sharing the textbook with a friend for homework.
her class is really easy and relaxing!!!she is a nice person and always have a big smile on her face~
sweet lady. doesnt grade any papers until like the last week of class... really ridiculous because that makes it really hard to improve on your writing when you dont know how your doing..
I had her for duel-credit in high school, and she was always friendly and willing to help. But you will not need it, as long as you turn a paper in that is the right length you will get a B at least. If you are going to take more English at a real university, then don't take her. I didn't learn how to write and struggled at a real university.
She assigned a lot of work for a summer session which is fine because it is college but she didn't grade the assignements on time and didn't have the grades available until the day before class ended. She didn't do a good job explaining the assignments, she always said, "I'll come back to that". She never got back to anything. DON'T TAKE HER!
The assignments are okay, but it is easy and straightfoward on completing the assignments. However, she graded the assignments at the last minute.
She's a nice person and has a great presence. She is definitely about the drama and theater. Her class was entertaining and interesting, though it seemed more about literature and analyzing literature than actual composition. Still a lot of fun, I recommend her.
I am in her class right now and she's a nice lady but she talks about her personal life and things that have NOTHING to do with English. It's very frusterating and she allows students to argue a majority of the class. She is very scatterbrained and puts off assignments and questions about assignments. i haven't learned anything in this course.
Wow! What can I say, no grades like forever, she's very much abt drama/theatre. I think that's the class she shld be teaching.
Prof Engel was a really nice lady. It is book heavy, but you use the book to write your journals (summaries of what you read). The tests were very simple, and her reviews for the test are very clear cut. The final was also easy. 1 paper, but about 3000 words & a 10 min presentation. Still, a very easy class. Take her!
Do not take this class, she was all over the place with her syllabus...then you write journals daily about nothing really; stuff you read in the book...The final was easy the answers were there if you can get a clue. She does not grade papers in a timely manner, we got alot of last grades 2 days before class was over!
She is awesome! Granted she is kinda all over the place, but luckily she thinks the same way I do so I can understand where she's coming from. I have no problem following her lecture but others do. She is very nice, knows what she's talking about, kinda theatrical, always smiling, always willing to help! She's great!
She is a really good teacher. She is all over the place but it is funny. She is also extremely helpful, I would recommend her.
I loved her as a teacher! She is passionate about literature. She can get discombobulated at times but her class is very entertaining. You need the books, but she also shows films. Her requirements for papers are not unreasonable. I hope i can take her for English Lit.
This instructor is AMAZING!! I couldn't have asked for a better English teacher and I don't even like English! She is very charasmatic, passionate about the subject and she is ALL about the student! She is a true gift and you would be very lucky to sit in her class. Granted she is kinda here and there, a great instructor nonetheless.
She's alright but i really like her because her class is easy. All you have to do is go to class do the work which is a question from the book and turn it in whenever. On the essay she will let you write any topic but when it comes to grading it she tough on it. If you cant write a paper i would go to this class. Overall she's pretty cool.
She takes FOREVER to grade anything. I thought she would be really helpful because she's nice and energetic but she's severely scatterbrained and her help is rather vague. She doesn't go the distance to help you out. That, and she rarely if at all answers her emails. I was rather disappointed with her :(
She is a great teacher and she does take forever to grade papers. I feel she digs deep in you to bring out the best.
She is very enthusiastic and is wonderful to go to for help. She does go off topic sometimes and is a tad scatterbrained, but all in all, she's a very relaxed teacher who wants you to succeed. She is very easy to talk to so feel free to ask any questions.
I make mostly A's in all my classes. I got an F in this class. Enough said.
Lesson plan is basic leaving you wondering what you are actually supposed to be doing. Lack of feedback. No help at all. Grade posting takes weeks. No clue if you need to change things because you don't get your grade until the day they are due at semester end. Office hours-HAH! Take anyone but her. She just piles on the work and doesn't teach.
She's a nice lady and she is passionate about what she's talking about but she gets off track all the time with all of her stories. I f you actually want to learn english and become a better writer, don't take her. 3 essays and the final. she is a bit picky on the essays so be careful and she will help you if you ask.
Awesome teacher! EASY A+. I took her online, everything is due on Sunday by 11:59pm! She's easy, helpful and I wish I could take her again but I am done with English! Definitely take her, trust me EASY A+
Mrs. Engel is great at doing her job. She is very passionate and her English is absolutely BEAUTIFULLY spoken! I took her for fast track eng. and there was a lot of writing involved but it made me become a way better writer than I have ever been! I loved this class and was so sad that it was over in 8 weeks. I just signed up for comp. II with her:)
Most difficult class I have token, no help and leaves you wondering what your suppose to be doing.
Take her and you will never regret. very helpful
Tough on Essays and takes forever to get your grades posted...
She is a great person, but she is also what brought me to this website for the first time. Takes forever to grade, goes over pointless topics, leaving us confused about what to do next. The semester was a bit frustrating.
Mrs. Engel is the best professor I have taken so far. She is a caring teacher that will at all times help you on anything you need. Just do the work and if you struggle with no doubt she will help. Take her class, easy A.
Took this class for a 6 week summer class. It was easy , all you have to do is the work and you will pass. The class at times does feel like its self directed and little instructions about exactly what she is looking for. But that what this class is kind of about exploring your creative writing skills. Did most of my work on Sundays and got an A
She takes WAY too long to grade. I have assignments from the first month of the semester that she hasn't graded, and the final is tomorrow (written 12/15/15). However, 99% of what you do is a completion grade. So as long as you do the work and show up for at least 10 minutes of the class, you will pass with an A.
She is by far my fav teacher at TCC
Took her online class last summer and I loved it! Easy 3 essays and the readings are easy. Easy A!
I took 1302 online. While she gives clear criteria, she takes a long time to grade assignments. It was frustrating to work on Essay 2 & not received any feedback on Essay 1 yet. Then having the same situation on Essay 3! The essays are a majority of the grade & it's frustrating not knowing your grade the final week of the semester!
Would catch myself falling asleep at times with the subjects we talk about kinda boring and irrelevant at times but still a good professor and kinda confusing on some assignment she's also takes a while to put grades in
Mrs. Engel has by far been the best instructor I've had. She is very understanding and wants you to succeed. The assignments and final are very easy. You are required to write three essays, but if you follow her guidelines, you'll do fine. If you want to pass, simply do your work. She is such an easy grader. I'd take her class again!
Mrs. Engel is by far the best professor I have ever had. She truly cares about all of her students. As long as you do your work, it is an easy A. I'm taking her again for ENGL1302
She didn't grade too hard. But her grading time frame was unacceptable. 3 major essays are worth 20% each. Essay 1 wasn't graded until after I submitted Essay 2. Essays 2 & 3 didn't get graded until after I took the final! It was a 5-week summer course, but delays this bad are just unfair to students. No notes or feedback left on grades.
Her enthusiasm when she is lecturing will inspire you to pay attention. She does take forever to grade, but confidence and effort in your assignments will guarantee you full credit. She's tough on grading essays, but she is fair. Strongly recommend her, especially if you're thinking of majoring in English.
She is super sweet. Three essays, plus 10 journals throughout the semester seems like a lot but its not overwhelming at all; she grades very fairly too. As long as you keep up with your work and get your stuff submitted, (and as long as you work hard on those assignments), you will make a good grade!
Great teacher very understanding about real life obstacles we faced throughout the semester l would highly take again for anything
We've hit the middle mark in the semester so I feel justified in writing this I really dont like her so far & its mainly because SHE TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE Were about to start writing our 3rd essay recently submitted our 2nd & just received feedback from our 1st Shes barely graded any other assignments as well DO BETTER ENGEL! Makes the class hard!
If you like to know how you are doing in a class this one isn't for you. This professor takes forever to grad anything. She is tough on essays I think but I have only gotten a grade for one. The 3rd is due in a few weeks and I have no idea where I stand. 3 essays total, discussion boards every week and respond to two, and journals every week.
Professor Engel did not give any feedback on the essays that I wrote so it made it hard for me to correct mistakes. She graded everything late, and it was a pretty heavy course load overall. I felt like there was no personal touch with this teacher at all. I love English, and this class made it really hard for me to feel confident.
she was not that bad... she does take forever to grade though. I took the class online so i don't know how she is in person, but she responded to my emails fast so that's good. If you like being informed about your grade at all times do not take this class
super easy and clear expectations on discussion boards and small assignments however at the end of the semester when the papers start to come in and the work that weighs more due to the hard grading and unclear expectations come in. start your papers early to allow for questions, comments, or concerns.
Really sweet lady. Make sure you attend as much as possible. Read the textbook, that's what she lectures on. You'll write a few short essays, 3-5 pages etc. etc.
She is so nice and relatable! She understands what students go through, the class was relaxed to me. There was about three papers, written about any topic we chose. Lectures were interesting enough, I multi-tasked on the computer during lectures occasionally.
She is sooooo understanding and you will love her assignments in her class. She so caring i love her soo much. You will learn a lot from her class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GUESS TAKE CLASSES WITH HER !
I just and her so much she is a great teacher! Just take her and don't think twice.
Lots of lectures but they are great! Shes very passionate about literature so lectures are always interesting. Shes very understanding and leanient, if you fail its because youre being lazy. Easy A for sure. Doesnt assign to many papers and homework is given often but very easy. And she isnt a hard grader.
One of my favorite English classes I've ever taken. She is very passionate about the works and her lectures are engaging. I cannot recommend her enough!
This is one of the worst online classes I've have ever taken. I will say that the assignments were a bit challenging and she does not give any feedback at all. Here we are on the last day of the Summer II term, and this professor STILL HAS NOT put in my grades. I am going to be upset if I don't get the grade I want because I did all of the work.
She has the sweetest personality and always gives me and my classmates to succeed in class. Textbook is Required for Comp I. Worry about attending class, do 3 of your essays from 800+ Words, and book work. However she arrives around 5 minutes late . Also gives time of missing work at around end of semester. An amazing and a kind hearted professor.
Enjoyed this class. Normal amount of homework and you will need the book. Only complaint was that she doesn't keep up with grading which can be hard if you are making a mistake and don't realize it for a month.
This class was fairly easy. She is clear on what she is looking for and if you just follow her directions, you can easily pass. The book is required for this course and it has helpful things in there that can help you pass. The only downfall is that she does grade very slow. It is hard to fully know what grade you have.
Very understanding, last semester was one of the hardest times in my life and she was so patient and kind even though I really didn't deserve it. Lots of reading and writing obviously as it's a comp class. Only complaint is that it wasn't focused as much on how to write better, more how to read analytically. Lots of in class so show up for points!
Dont look for feedback on any of your written assignments. She takes forever to grade! She isnt a bad teacher her class isnt hard either. But if ur like me and want to know how ur doing this isnt the class for u.
Loved taking her class she is very nice but she is a tough grader. Theres 3 essays and 10 journal entries throughout the semester. If your like me and you struggle to gather ideas for writing just ask and she will help you out! She is willing to help if she can tell that you are trying.
Great Professor. Clear on grading. Organized lessons and chapters. Supporting material helps with writing assignments and essays.
Super chill and nice, tells a lot of stories.
It is the final week of the spring semester and she still has not graded my essays! She takes forever to grade and does not give any feedback over your writing so it's hard to improve. SO I don't even know what my grade will be! I was hoping to learn how to write better but the class is more about analyzing literature.
Overall her class was not hard, you had 3 essays for test grades and everything else was just 10 journal entries, and whatever small assignments she gave you in class. The only complaint I have is that it is the last week of the semester, I already did my final, and I still have no idea how well I did on my essays or what my grade is in the class.
Great professor, she does talk a lot, but was not a harsh grader, always gave us extra time for our assignments, accepted late work. Gives feedback on assignments if done poorly. Very caring and understanding overall.
Loved this professor, she was super sweet and caring. You could really tell she is passionate about her job, she talks a lot but she always says things interesting. You have to read a lot but you discuss it in class. She won't quiz you if you read the material. Really enjoyed her class.
I will never take her class again, I received negative feedback. And Communication was very off.
I took her class thinking that the previous reviews would help. She takes FOREVER to grade papers and it frustrated me a lot as I was eager to know my grade. I love English as well and her class was just challenging. I hated completing the assignments as I didnt really know what I was doing; same goes with the essays, I was always lost.
She is a caring teacher like some of the other students stated and she does take a minute to grade some thighs but overall she is a great professor I had a lot of problems since covid is going on and she really worked with me let me turn very late assignments in and didn't take off and gave me fair grade
Please do not get her, she is so unorganized and lazy
super easy! take her !! our final was a resume for work. And don't buy the book its a waste of money I only used it like twice. Not a tough grader
Class was okay but required rough drafts and peer review on every essay. There was a discussion board or two due every week but it wasn't too difficult just time consuming. Would not take her again.
Class time was all about discussing the works we were reading and the assignments rather than making tedious assignments. The energy in the discussions is exactly how I imagine my English teacher to behave. she is kind of a slow grader, but she also gave us the extra time we needed for assignments so it evens out. 10/10
i took her 8 week class. it was hard, but i'm so glad i did it. she is tough on grading I would never make above a 93 on my final essays. She gives out extra time on assignments. the final exam was an essay about yourself and how much you changed since the beginning of college. Also, purchase grammerly premium for this class if you want to an A.
I definitely do not suggest choosing this teacher unless you want to hear about her random life stories and not learn ANYTHING. She will assign so many things to do on top of Essays and other work and it puts everyone behind. She also changes what she says a lot and it's VERY confusing. She is a sweet lady but not a good teacher in my opinion.
She is a very sweet teacher, I loved taking her class. I took ENGL 1301 and INRW 0399 which was a co requisite. She gives many examples and ideas for work and her instructions for assignments are very clear. Shes very flexible with due dates.
This is overall a great class, she is very sweet and lets you turn in late assignments, like the last minute of the course (But don't procrastinate cuz it will take your time). 4 essays and rough drafts, a few assignments but easy ones.
She loves to teach, she is warming and always helpful. I wish I could've taken her class for Engl 2, but I am attending a different campus this year. Highly highly recommend taking her class
In comparison to my previous experience with online English professors, she was leaps and bounds easier. Not super anal about grading, and every assignment she gave served a purpose. 10/10!
Overall I didn't have any major issues with the class. Four essays, a few discussion boards, and writing exercises. Easy grader. However, Professor Engel was very slow to respond to my emails and grading assignments. For almost all of my essays, I didn't receive my grade until a month after submitting it, and no feedback for what to improve on.
Professor Engel is amazing! She's super understanding and the coursework is pretty easy. You won't regret taking her class.
