Absolutely one of the worst teachers at MU! She shows favoritism with students, announces test grades aloud, talks to you like you are a child. Thinks that her way of doing math is the only way to do it, totally contradicting what she teaches!
Definitely picks her favorites and doesn't mind to show which students she likes and doesn't (unfortunately i was a dislike). She told us once to love all students no matter what, maybe she should practice what she preaches. She's just well... ARGH!!!!!
I worked my bum off in the class, made a B. She was helpful, but not fan of the methods she used in class to teach math.
She isn't the best teacher, but she totally has a good time doing it and she cracks me up!

Great teacher! I have had her for 3 classes, all of which have been wonderful classes. She is very enthusiastic and makes classes fun and interesting, even if it is a boring topic. I would suggest taking this teacher. Wonderful learning experience!

Her tests are taken directly from the notes??? You could memorize her notes, word for word, put them as your answers on the test, and she would still mark them wrong, whether they are or not. She is very hypocriticral!

She is one tough cookie. During one class I didn't like her all to much but then I took another class and I love her to death! She is now one of my favorite prof. I think she makes learning fun and she's full of engry! And woo hoo baby she's great!
She is the worst instructor I've had. She is mean and likes to insult people for making a mistake. I would never take one of her classes again. I didn't learn anything in the class, took Dr. Lucas for CI 201 and learned so much more.

This class was tough. But I wouldn't want anyone teaching my children if they hadn't been challenged like Mrs. Murphy challenged us. Woo Hoo Mrs. Murphy, I think I will be a better math teacher because of the concepts learned in your class.

I don't know why people are acting like the class is hard and that she is unsympathetic. She has given my class opportunites to get 45 bonus points. On both of the tests I took I got 120 out of 100. She's a really easy teacher.

Dr. Murphy is a wonderful teacher, and I would gladly take any other class that she offered. She's funny, and makes learning fun. Despite what some professors say, the world of teaching isn't perfect, and if you can't handle it, change majors.

Dr. Murphy is definatly on some sort of drug...no one is that enthusiastic about math!! If you can get past her Wooo Hoo Math Baby and just pay attention you will do fine in her class!
When is the quiz? I mean mini opportunity. This woman plays favorites. Dress nice look pretty she will like you. You can tell who she likes because she calls on the same people everytime. If you do the solution wrong but get the right answer its wrong
Dr. Murphy is a very exciting and fun teacher to have in the classroom. I truly enjoyed her class.

Dr. Murphy is extremely interesting. She is a compassionate teacher who takes student concerns into consideration and is willing to work with the students. She is easily approachable. The class was difficult, but she is very friendly and understanding.

Whoo hoo baby! She's great! Rubrics are very specific and given in advance. Assignments tend to be lengthly, but not hard. If you read this Murphy, thanks for the little heart. I look at it often and I don't need to sell cosmetics to old ladies yet!

Had her twice. Hated her the first time (for Math). Ended up with her by default the second time and liked her (classroom management). Busy work galore!

I have never, NEVER gotten a good grade in math before until her class. She is very understanding. If you can just give her methods a shot (and sometimes they start out strange) you WILL understand. Keep an open mind, and take Dr Murphy!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Murphy is a great professor and a great friend.She not only teaches you what it takes to be a teacher, she also teaches you about real life situations that you will encounter in the real classroom.Take Dr. Murphy!!! :)

She is an excellent professor! Take her if you can. She's not the easiest but definitely the best.
Hated her for undergrad work. She was ok for graduate work. LOTS of busy work. She added nothing but what the book said; however, they were extremely easy A's each time.
She is awesome and extremely nice. If you are a HELP student I strongly suggest you take her. She will not allow you to take the tests at the HELP center but she will go through the test with you. She hates to see her students fail and she also teaches you life lessons to take into your classroom.
She is the best professor in the edu. dept. I have been through all the courses and still havent found a professor that realted what I need to know like she did.
Now I know why I hate math.There are way too many "if and only if's". Aside from that, she is a great professor. Woo Who Baby! (reminds me of Trim Spa baby). Only gripe, unless you have a great memory, you'll have to memorize the slides. There are no repititions to anything. Memorize everything.

I think she has a wonderful personality but has no idea how to tecah to adults. She treats us like we are 4th graders. She is not helpful with explanations.

She is wonderful! The portfolio is time consuming, but it makes you think about a lot of things you will be doing in the classroom. Her class is fun b/c of her great personality. Very energetic and tries to help.
Dr. Murphy was great! The enthusium she brings to the class will make you learn without effort. You will work your tail off but you will enjoy it.
Hated this class but I am not a math person she talks about other stuff besides her sons but she does give extra credit. She gets easily side tracks.

Very nice and a very exciteful person. Class isn't too bad and she tells you what she expects so you don't have surprises when it comes to the tests. Somewhat helpful but not that hard of a class.
Nice and sweet lady,and CRAAAAAAZYYYY! Easy class, I mean HELLO..it's ELEMENTARY math..But she confuses the absolute hell out of everyone bc she'll be writing on the board and then she will ask "Am i doing this right?" then everyone freaks out because they don't know what they are doing. I think she should go back to Elementary school.
Fair teacher. Enjoyable class. Sometimes she confuses herself which definitely will confuse you, but it eventually works out. Just study your notes and ask questions when you're confused, and you'll do fine.

She is a VERY sweet lady. She will help you if you ask, but she doesn't go over the answers on the review which makes it bad. Her tests (or opportunities) as she calls them are VERY hard.
Extraordinarily fun and nice person. However, she tends to make what should be very easy, confusing. The material is extremely boring, but it would be like that no matter what teacher you had for the class. I would recommend her if you are okay with doing a lot of studying before a test.

Very overwhelming at first. Wasn't too bad as the class progressed. Some assignments are stupid and pointless. Most are lenghthy but not too hard. Just time and patience. No tests, just assignments.

I lover Dr. Murphy. The class is rather easy it only goes up to 6th grade math so you should not have problems with this class. Dr Murphy is a very nice lady and has pretty teeth and dresses nice. She makes classes exciting I dont think there will be another prof. like her. I am going to take her as many times as I can. WOO HOO BABY.

Most of my classmates complained a lot, but if you pay attention in class you will do well. Dr. Murphy is really sweet and helpful. She's a little scatter-brained sometimes, but if you ask her the question again, you'll get a clearer answer. Oh, and be prepared to start hearing yourself say "Yeah, Baby!" a lot because she says it ALL THE TIME!! :)
Had for both math & classroom management - loved both! - first time I felt confident about math. She is challenging but helpful. Don't sit in the back and ****/moan about how hard the tests are - ASK QUESTIONS! For CI 442, don't put off your portfolio! It can be an overwhelming task, but she is there to clarify & advise if you try.
Nothing was ever clear with her! We never knew what to do in class or what to study on the test. She would say something one minute and then say the exact opposite the next minute. If you're like me and like structure and organization, avoid her! I did get an A in there but it was still a pain!

You definitely learn a lot in classroom managment. I think she is the only professor who teaching this course, so it doesn't really matter what I think. The portfolio is not as bad as people say. Do your assignments as they come and you'll be fine!
She is a great teacher but is too picky about what she wants and is unclear on how to get what she wants. You never know what mood she will come to class in.
I wouldn't say her class is necessarily HARD, but it is EXTREMELY overwhelming. She is SO particular about how to do her assignments, but her rubrics are so unorganized and include WAY too much info that they are more confusing than helpful. Also-- READ THE BOOK and participate in class discussion.
Dr. Murphy is not the most organized person. Sometimes her lessons are all over the place and you move quite quickly, other times you spend ages on one thing. The tests aren't bad if you pay attention in class and take good notes. The material is super easy, but be sure to follow her instructions on how to do things. She is very enthusiastic!
I am awful in Math so I had a rough time with this class but I really liked Dr. Murphy. She is always willing to help students and will stay after class (if possible) to give extra help. She is also very funny. There is a lot of information to study for on the tests so do not slack off and make sure to attend each class.
I absolutely loved Dr. Murphy. She did go off on tangents, but would dial in to an issue when students brought it to her attention. If you have any issues TELL HER! I read the reviews before taking he and most are true. The biggest issue is not speaking up. She wants to help and will help, but you have to let her know there is a problem.
Dr. Murphy is one of the worst professors I've ever had. She is extremely vague when she gives directions and you never know what will be due the next time you come to class! She often takes forever to reply to an e-mail and "forgets" to send things that can be helpful for assignments. DO NOT TAKE HER unless you have no other choice!
She's very vague in explanations so ask plenty of questions! She does care about the students though and she is super funny.
Dr. Murphy is probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. She is EXTREMELY vague with her directions, and that was my biggest issue with her. She's a very tough grader. I got an A in the class but there were many times I pulled several all-nighters! Unless you have no other choice, I wouldn't take her.
She was the best teacher hands down. She is really easy to get ahold of and very understanding. She cares a lot about the students and tells you great stories about when she was a teacher.
Ruth Ann inspired me. She was an amazing teacher- by far the best teacher I've ever had. She gave so much extra credit and makes one feel more confident in math, even if you aren't good at it. She's amazing. Take her!

Dr. Murphy is a real gem. She is one of those professors that truly changed my college experience. I just love her so much! She is hilarious and really cares about her students. She goes out of her way to make sure that everyone knows the material. There aren't very many grades in the class, but she wants to make sure you do well gives extra credit

I loved Murphy, she really cared about her students. She gave us candy and extra credit. Vague description of project expectations but then graded tough was the only thing I didnt like about the class.
Dr. Murphy is awesome! I feel like I gained a lot from management, and usually it was from hearing her personal experiences. The class is easy, but does have a bit of work. Expectations can be confusing, but shes always available to help!

She is a lovey teacher and really care. She dose sometimes treat you like little kids but that is to be expected. Listen in her class and make sure you study! But overall a wonderful class and teacher. Also, make sure to be very excited. She wants all her students to smile and have fun with math.
