Really nice lady and wants to give students the best grade possible! Can be a tough grader, but is willing to adjust her teaching to what the students want. Also relates the class to the real world which is crucial in business. You get A LOT of attendance credit so always go o class!
Kept the class interesting by showing videos and explained things well. Was able to relate things to the real world. She is a tough grader. I would suggest her to anyone
Toughest grader ever! The class is boring and tense, and full of concepts. No bonus. Average grade in the class is C! Think twice before you take it. She makes the class unreasonable by setting 3 exams, 4 online assignments,2 project, 2 presentations, 2 memos. She never gives any gradual process to learn and understand concepts.
Very unclear in what is expected."quizzes" are very tough and are more like exams. case project is unbearable.gives alot of attendance points and gives alot of assignments at once. grades very tough with unrealistic expectations.research assignments are pointless and graded very tough.overall manageable if you really enjoy business communication
Mrs. White is an awesome teacher. I had a great time during her class period because she kept the information interesting by incorporating videos into her class schedule. The quizes are easy because they are online and you have a week to do it. Her grading is extremely fair and I learned a lot overall. I would extremely recommend her in any class.
Ruth is very easy going. Show up for class and do the work - you will be fine. I never sensed that she is a tough grader. Our group got a 100% on every assignment and in the class. She uses videos to supplement what she was talking about in er brief lectures. The class is centered around the innovation project. It's not fun, but you gotta do it!
Very nice lady. Teaches fairly, gives attendance points. Knows just what days people want to skip and gives class off that day to take an online quiz instead (which is pretty awesome). Lots of presentations and papers in her class, though what else can you expect from a business communications class?
Very nice and always willing to help. Big projects, but not very hard. Need to read the book for quizzes. I would recommend taking her.
Class isn't mandatory but she does take attendance, so it's free points just for showing up. Powerpoints are online but it doesn't really go into detail. Exams are online, multiple choice and out of the book so you have to read to do well. I didn't, but did all the other assignments well and showed up to every class and still got a B.
I have taken Ruth twice for two different classes and pass with flying colors. If you just do the things she assigns (which are not hard at ALL) then you can easily get an A. I never even bought the book and I still did great. Take the assignments seriously and put an effort in and you will do FINE!
Ms. White is a good instructor. She keeps class interesting, and the material is very easy. Definitely try to take this instructor over the others for BA 2030.
Her class is easy but she assigns a LOT of busy work. She relies completely on the online pearsonlab that comes with the book. She does none of her teaching herself and she doesn't grade anything herself either. Avoid her is possible.
Her class is super easy. Half the days you don't have class because she gives you time to complete your work. She does rely a lot on the online lab, which is where most of your grades will come from. 95% of it is all multiple choice, and you can use the textbook with it, which has a search bar (the answers are word for word). Easy A.
Absolutely LOVED Ruth. She was a great teacher and a lot of fun. I would take her again no matter what class. Show up to lectures and get participation. Online quizzes over chapter material, super easy. The lectures involve a lot of group work. Over all really easy and enjoyable class. TAKE HER.
Nice lady, easy class time. A lot of group work in class. Yet, all the projects are on your own. Hardly any explanations. She also uses pearsonmylab, which does not work half the time.
Ruth is awesome, she is stuck with a course that is required to use MyPearsonLab which everyone knows is the devil 90% of the time and never works. The class is simple and it gives you a great outline on how business communication is done. It is easy to not pay attention but will hurt you in the long run. I recommend taking Ruth.
Good teacher, and willing to work with you. Don't be afraid to take, best BComm teacher we have and an B+A if you try.
Dr. White is a good teacher, but holy moly is there a lot of assignments for this class. Constantly working on mypearsonlab, a paper, etc. Have to be willing to work for your grade. Learned a lot of interesting things in the class, but some seems not super interesting or worth it when you aren't a business major.
This is my second time taking professor White because her classes are easy. There are absolutely NO EXAMS. However, many many assignments. At the end of the semester your grade is out of 1000 homework points. Something is due every day you come to class and attendance is half of the grade. Still easier than any other professor.
Prof. White is amazing! She's a nice lady, and loves teaching students about Business. She tries to make topics interesting by relating them to something more current. I recommend taking her class. It's pretty easy as long as you keep up with all the assignments.
Show up and do assignments and you'll pass. Hands out a lot of extra credit so make sure you make the most of it.
Ruth really tries to get students to participate, but it's hard when all material is online. Gives extra credit for going to class, but lectures are insanely boring. All exams are online; you have about 2 per week on top of quizzes. MUST READ to pass. She doesn't give nearly enough time to take online exams, so make sure you know your stuff.
Ruth was an great teacher. Just do the assignments and you will pass. Group projects are a pain but besides that easy B.
Ruth is such a great professor! She is very clear cut on what she expects of you. There are a lot of assignments though!! Quizzes, essays, and exams on every module and a big group project. She is very flexible if you don't turn an assignment in on time and is a decent grader. GIVES A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT!!! Would recommend her!!
she is hard at grading but nice at the same time ,lots of ectra credit
Decent professor, during class she tries to make it as interactive as possible. Exams are all online which are typically hard. Not everything on the exam is on the power points or given in class. Pay close attention to what she says. Takes attendance everyday. Good professor if you want someone to challenge you and make you think.
Easy A. Show up and put in just a little effort. It was a repeat of the first one, but the CBA is trying to reorganize the BizX series so be patient while they iron out the kinks. Will be a great class in the future but they haven't quite figured it out yet. Watch all videos before taking her exams.
solid, lots of busy work
Learn at your own pace class. The textbook is online along with small 3 pt assignments a few times a week - if you don't purchase the textbook then you can't do the assignments resulting in an entire letter grade. Your attendance is graded, just not consistently. Shes understanding & nice. The exams are all online 25 questions at 25 minutes. Enroll
Ruth is very understanding and does a great job when it comes to explaining what she expects out of her students. She is especially great for first-year students, giving them opportunities to make up work that they may have missed as a result of a misunderstanding of the syllabus. Overall great professor and would definitely recommend her.
She is an okay professor. Not a very hard class. I wouldn't recommend her but if you get her there is no need to drop.
Gives an excessive amount of work every week. Expects 80 random interviews for research from you. Ridiculous amounts of work. Doesn't teach you anything new from BIZX 1100. Doesn't teach anything about the quizzes. Leaves to do her own work 30 minutes into the class.
Ruth is a great teacher had her for BA 1500 very relaxed and easy going class. Kind of a lot of busy work but it will help to boost your grade in the class. Just pay attention and do the assigned homework and you will end with an A. The only tough part are her exams but there not too bad.
Ruth was a great professor for this class. She's laid back and there isn't too much work. She cares about students and understands them.
She gives homework based on the online textbook. There is a group presentation or a paper to write about a Wall Street Journal Article every week. Be careful with grammar mistakes, she is taking out points for that. Her online exams are easy if you take notes during class and read the chapters. She is easy to talk to and cares about the students.
Definitely show up to class. It is very difficult to take notes on her lectures, but the class is not too lecture heavy. You do a lot of group work. The homework assignments are basically busy work but she does not grade them; a GA does. The GA I had was a tough grader, but she also does not give clear rubrics.
Work in groups a lot. You have to do work with the textbook online but she doesn't teach the information from the textbook. On tests it can be confusing what information to study the most although there are study guides. The tests often had too specific of questions from videos we watched. She wants students to participate often in class discussion
BizX 2200 is the same class, no matter if they changed the project or not. It is a lot of work (the same as the previous classes) with little change. She gives outside readings that are used for three online quizzes. A lot of work with a lot of points for a 1 hour course. Ruth seemed to always be changing things since this was a "new" project.
The people you sit with on the first day of class become your group for the rest of the semester, so choose carefully. The conversations held in class are basically a separate class from what she wants you to learn in the textbook, but as long as you pay attention to both you'll do fine on the tests (which are online, wink wink).
Ruth is straight forward with expectations and grading. class is very structured. Ruth has made sure we have all the tools to be successful in this class. would definitely recommend
It was the second time that I take a class with Ruth. She gives a lot of assignments but they are fairly easy and fair with grading. She's very nice and cares about her students.
Ruth offered lots of extra credit opportunities. There were lots of assignments that were time-consuming. We did watch quite a few movies but that was because she had to miss class for personal reasons. Overall she was very kind and dedicated to teaching
Ruth was an amazing professor and I definitely learned a lot from her. There were times when there was many assignments due in one day so I suggest to start on those earlier on in the week so you're not screwed the day they're due. But overall she's very understanding and if you didn't complete an assignment she'll definitely extend it for you.
Best professor ever. She is real great and easy. Very funny. You will get an A.
My table loved Ruth. She is such a great professor and I would definitely take her class again. Yes, you will have many assignments, but most are super quick and easy. I had so much extra credit, by the end I didn't even need to turn some papers in and still receive an A. Definitely recommend taking her class, by far favorite professor all year!
She is witty, empowering, and caring all in one. She is always very thorough with explanations and grading criteria. It is a lot of work but she is understanding and helpful along the way. She tries very hard to prepare you for the real world of business and applies that pressure onto the students. Very respected and recommended.
Ruth gave a ton of extra credit in BA 1500. You will need to go to class to earn credit. The lectures weren't always interesting, but the graded material was not hard.
Lots of busywork. If you show up and do the work, you'll get an A. She's has a lot of experience that is insightful, but she lectures get off topic all the time.
She can be a little too straight forward at times as opposed to being encouraging however she takes time to explain projects, definitions, and rules thoroughly. The assignments are fairly easy but the group work is just a little time-consuming. Overall shes a good professor and I would take a class with her again :)
Ruth White was my favorite professor this past semester. Though she had a lot of assignments, she was super nice and thorough. She gave out a lot of extra credit. It would be hard to not get an A in this class.
Ruth is my favorite professor of all time. She truly cares about her students!
I loved Ruth! She did give a lot of busy work, but the course was easy and if you apply yourself you will get an A. She is very nice and helpful and she is very understanding if you need an extension or extra help. She honestly wants the best for her students.
I took Professor White online and I found her lecture to be informative. The class gives a great perspective of different categories of business. As long as you pay attention and do your work you will pass the class.
*hybrid* There is a lot of homework with each module, but it helps you to gain a solid foundation in different segments of business. She's super understanding, and tries to make class as interesting as she can. Only issue is that her Canvas exams were 35 questions in 35 minutes, which locked after moving to the next question.
Ruth is a good person, but she assigns WAY too much homework all due at once. It is not super hard work, but it is extremely time consuming. On top of homework, she will do group projects that also are very time consuming. Just for this one class, I felt like I was juggling a million things, but at the same time didn't know what was going on.
Ruth is so sweet. She is good at teaching but much of the class work is by yourself. It is just the material for the class that sucks. Its a lot of busy work but its easy if you just pay attention and do your job. There are a lot of group projects on top of that but just stay ahead and you will be fine.
Class has a ton of points in it. As long as you show up and somewhat pay attention you should get an A. She doesn't really teach in class, if attendance wasn't for points I never would have gone. Most learning is done through online textbook and online assignments. Lots of group projects too.
Lots of work and a lot of points in the class. You have multiple projects open at one time, and it's hard to keep track of. Sometimes you have projects due a week and a half later or two days later. She does not teach or do anything herself, and it's very heavy on Connect assignments. She gives a lot of extra credit! Easy A, but very time consuming
I took BA1500 with Ruth in person. Ruth is very nice. There is a lot of group projects and homework assignments. They were pretty easy. There are multiple opportunities for extra credit. If you fail the class, it's probably your fault.
If I were to take this class again I would have chosen a different professor. Ruth White means well, but she can be very condescending. There is too many assignments (1400 points in total) & too many group projects. The assignments were not hard, but they would take 5 hours+ to complete all of them. Do not take a class with her unless you have to!
I really liked Ruth. She genuinely cares about her students and is such a sweet lady. There is a lot of homework, so get ready to work. She gives a ton of extra credit so take advantage of it if needed. Show up to class, and it will be an easy A.
Ruth gives out a ton of extra credit and you should take the opportunity to earn it. There are lots of points in the grade book by the end of the semester and there is a lot of homework that is given out. If you like Kahoot's then take this class!!
Easy A. Little to no lecture teaching done she mostly just assigns homework and group projects the entire time. Tons of extra credit.
Great professor who really cares about her students. Attendance is everything in this class and you better be ready to work in groups for the whole semester. Unfortunately she has TA's grade almost every assignment in the class and some of them are so, so strict. Overall good professor, but the class is so involved for just an introduction class.
Ruth is so sweet and caring. She gives unlimited attempts for extra credit, everyone should get an A in this course. There are a lot of assignments and sometimes it is not clear when things are due but overall easy A
Took her class as an olo summer course (BA 3500) and still haven't gotten graded on most of our written assignments. Class ends next week. Does not give clear feedback or guidelines for assignments so idk if I'll even pass. Never tried to contact her bc someone else in my class told me she was very unhelpful. Decent course, would not take her again
One of the worst classes I've taken. Seriously. It was a 6 week online class and she did not START grading papers until week 5. She was also very nitpicky with my writing when she did grade. She did not teach - we just read the chapter and took a quiz. Material was boring. Now we are a month out of class and I still haven't received my final grade.
This class is good for first-years in Business but as a second year, it felt like she was talking down to us and made me feel like an idiot. There is a LOT of group work and random videos to watch that feel like busy work instead of actually learning as well as a lot of in-class projects and participation required. She is harsh with due dates too.
Professor White is an excellent teacher I would recommend to anyone. Easy class but has a lot of group projects.
Ruth cares about helping students figure out what specialization they want. She gives out a lot of assignments but it is nothing you can't handle.
In this class there is a lot of homework and tests, but all of it is VERY easy. I highly recommend take Ruth's class. She wants all of her students succeed and grades a lot of stuff so if you do bad on a few things you will still have a great grade. I would like to add that it is very important to show up if you have her because of group projects.
Every week or two theres a presentation but they were always like 5 min or less. McGraw hill is annoying asf to do but its not too too bad. A lot of the quiz and exam questions are very similar. Theres a big group project, but my group did it in like 2 days but youre given 3 months to do it. Attendance is mandatory, but there are a lot of extra cre
so many group projects, every time you finish one, you are assigned another one
Ruth is always in a good mood and brings a positive energy to the class. She is somewhat hard to understand as she talks fast and assumes the class knows what she's talking about. Homework is weekly but easy. Biggest problem is in class which is usually group projects or essays which don't feel beneficial. She's a good first business class teacher.
While there were a lot of group projects, Ruth always gave students plenty of time to complete them and they were all not overly difficult. She is very kind and always has a positive attitude in class. She also gives some opportunities for extra credit.
I feel that this class is a waste of time. Everything we do can be completed in minutes, yet for some reason we always have complicated criteria that adds a ton of work to assignments without doing anything class related. She has a good attitude, but I feel this class is useless busywork. The only learning you do is through homework.
She's awesome!
Easy class, she didn't do too much. TA did all work for her, but she had a bad TA that kind of ruined the class but still not horrible.
Good Class but relied heavily on her TA who was very unsocial and strict. Your final project will consist of multiple pages worth of work and the TA read through every page and corrected everything down to the minor spelling errors. Class is mandatory, you will lose points if you do not attend class. You will also have a lot of textbook work.
She was a great instructor. The whole class was based on group projects, and attendance based, so just show up and you'll be fine. She was super nice and helpful if you have questions.
Ruth is a great professor and person. She understands you have a life outside of her class. There are a lot of in-class group assignments, so just make sure you attend class. Easy A if you put in a little bit of effort. I learned a lot from this class and it was interesting. Useful to apply to everyday life.
Ruth is a good professor but she can be a tough grader. There are many group projects throughout the semester and they get dry by the end. She also has a tendency to state her opinions a lot in class about universal health care but it is bearable. Overall Ruth is a good professor that cares about her students.
