Very easy teacher
She does NOT allow calculators on anything. She also doesn't want to help her students out side of class. There was not a single A or B in the class. I was one of the few C's
Taken over summer session, very organized well done. Won't start one thing until the class understands what she had taught before hand
ALWAYS helps students out of class. Makes math easy and super nice.
Ok her english gets in the way as she is hard as hell to understand, shes native Russian. No calculators for easy repitive work. Argh! Id take her again but she is annoying.
to much work, boring
cant understand what she talks about or says
Shes a cool teacher and I think she liked me =) but I passed her class...So thats always a good thing but she sometimes is hard to understand but If you need help...she is always there
I thought she was Slovakian? She sticks to her rules and does a good job at keeping the class at a college level as some kids think it's still high school. I think guys will like her more than girls. Test were hard, quizes were fun but do your homewor
I found myself scratching my head more than doing any work. I could not understand a word that she said. The tests were hard and the quizes were pointless. If you find her on your class schedule I would try to find another class.
very hard to understand through her accent. doesn't explain much of anything, just expects you to do it
First of all she is Armenian!! Her accent is clear enough, not everyone is from CA you know! She does not talk down to anyone who doesn't understand. She does help as much as she can, but the student needs to be in the classroom! If you HAVE to take math rather than want to,her class is for you.
she is really nice! although she has an accent which may be difficult to understand at times, she's still a good math teacher! She offers plenty of help and goes over homework everyday! Her tests are easy as long as you do the homework.
Shes a really good teacher, explains very well she always answers everyones questions, and her class is easy if you really pay attention and do your hw
the best math teacher ever...
excellent math teacher. will help as much as possible to help students with their work. Good lectures, very clear.
shes an okay teacher. shes really understanding and helpful. i didnt do so well in the class in the summer because i skipped two classes. but she was understanding and gave me second chances to pass the class. would recommed.
she is the best math teacher i have ever had
cant understand her,boring,hard
shes a good teacher, but if you miss a class, youre basically screwed. She has a really strong accent, so sometimes its hard to understand her. Her tests arent hard if you know the material, but if not, your screwed. I heard people like to take her for math 60, but shes not teaching it this semester
she is very helpful and will go over anything you do not understand until you have an understanding of it.
dont get, to much work, cant understand, lots of work
she's srtict with attendance, so gotta be on time and show up! her method of teaching is okay, but ithink her grading system is hard! she follows all the rules..... which isnt much fun!! i think its boring and hard! she moves too fast!
She doesn't bother to teach she just goes over homework and then gets mad at you when you do not understand!
she has been the only math teacher that I have been able to understand math with. She has to be one of the best math teachers at COC.
Very nice & helpful.... Her tests are quite hard though.
Excellent teacher! She's very accommodating and wants her students to succeed. She expects you to do your homework, be on time and come to class. The quizzes are right from your homework. There are no surprises! I've taking 2 different Algebra classes with her and will take my last one that I need to graduate with her in the fall.
She is the best I have had and I only take her classes because she helps when you are stuck and will go over the material that you dont understand so that you do. Home work you have to do so that you pass the tests and quizzs.
Mrs B. is one of the best teachers I've ever had at any school I've ever gone to. She really cares and wants her students to succeed. She will go over the same problem over and over in the same tone of voice until you understand it. She never makes you feel stupid because you don't get it. She is strict, but fair.
She is a realy sweet teacher and helps you out alot when u need it has great writing so u can understand everything written on the board, but i still failed what can i say I hate MATH.
I really didn't like this teacher. Basically you turn in your homework or you "take a quiz". I think we did maybe 2-3 quizes. So you REALLY have to do your homework. She was hard to understand and she was very difficult to understand. I really dis-liked her!
i don't know if thats what math class it was, but anyway, she's a really good teacher, even though a few prats liked to give her a hard time coz of her accent.
As long as you ask questions, there are no problems. The tests are very basic.
she'll help you on tests so i guess she's cool

An amazing teacher! Her accent does make it a wee bit hard to understand her but nothing debilitating that would cause you to fail the class because of it. She teaches very well and clearly. She gives pop-quizzes on the homework but it is open note (i.e. your homework) so if you do it, getting 100% on the quizzes is simple!
I hate math with a passion, but she helped me actually understand what the heck I was doing. She is seriously amazing and I sooo love her. I most definately recommend her to anyone at any math level!
Class is boring and long. But it's easy, you'll pass if you take her. All the quizes are randomly picked from the homework problems that she assigned. Tests are easy. Speaks with a strong accent. Nice lady.
She answers to no email! Don't bother! She's not one of those professors you can depend on. I guess she was just obligated to give out her email address on the syllable & to announce her office room! This lady is such a power trip! You're not allowed to chew gum & who really follows the "no food or drink in classroom" rule anyway? Oh...she does!
She's an easy A!
Very good at teaching. She has great patience for students who don't understand math very well. She's a slow pace class so you would get alot of help from her.
AWFUL!!!!!!!!! Don't take a class with her!
She's a good teacher. Math isn't the easiest subject for me in general, but she helps you along, and if you truly demonstrate a desire to learn and pass the class, you'll pass. Don't be fooled, any math class that you take won't be a "just show up and pass" kind of class, you actually have to do work, and that's no exception for her class.
Not the easiest but not the hardest teacher. She messed up on A LOT of the material in class which was very frustrating. A lot of her review answers were wrong, which she tried to joke about but i didn't find very funny that the teacher couldn't do the problems. She is a nice person but should not be teaching 070, maybe she's a good calc teacher.
She's a great teacher. I felt bad for her because she got really irritated with the shall we saw SLOW people, but who can blame her. By the time you get to Math 070 you should know how to compute frations. If you do the reviews you will pass the class no problem. A lot of the problems are just transferred from the review to the test.
test were hard in the beginning but more than half the class failed so she had to make them easier.offers a lot of help. gets pissed off if you try to criticize her. always absent the day before the test.
I loved her! She was the best math teacher I have ever had! She made learning the material very easy and the tests were straight forward, and you knew exactly what to study for!
Shes very hard! Her accent is hard to understand! Her tests are pretty hard! The quizzes are easy because its just homework problems she randomly picks! But she does give a pretty big load of homework...shes an average math teacher at coc! im not gonna say worst!
Excellent, first class professor. Has a high expectation of students. Hard (duh, it's Math 212), but she really tries to help you out. Take advantage of office hours and do not hesitate to ask questions.
She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. I am a math major and love math, but I hated her! She skips way to many steps in her problems and is hard to follow. She also gives review sheets without all the answers to the problems. I talked to many people in my class who hated her, too, but they were too afraid say anything to her.
phew....this prof is not easy...she's hard..but she teaches very well! she knows her material very well and if anyone has questions, she will take away her personal time to teach you...her tests are difficult..PAY ATTENTION TO REVIEW SHEETS! thats where all the questions on the test come from..overall great!! she just loves teaching!
All biases aside, here are the facts on Ms. Baytaryian: Two Masters Degrees, Created the Math 070 Course, intelligent... Biased Views: Very helpful, easy to understand accent, during Winter session she DOES skip steps, but gives you the key info to learn the material on your own. She is a nice grader and terrific with partial credit: I recommend.
this teacher was not easy, but if you pay attention and ask questions she is very good at helping you out. Explains very well... not an easy grader, but will spend a lot of one on one time if necessary.
I tested into Math 070 with the placement test and signed up for her during Summer Session. I found it insanely difficult and ended up dropping half way through to go into a 060 class. In spite of it she was VERY nice, I still learned a lot. Her accent isn't a problem and her writing is very neat. Does "optional" two hour study periods before tests
She is nice but save your quizzes & tests til the end of the class. She forgot to input one of my test grades & she said unless i had the test there was no way to prove i took it. Luckily i found the test at home cuz if i hadnt i would have gotten a zero!! I got a B in the class but not because of the help in class only due to outside tutoring.
great teacher, very helpul.I highly recommend her.
she is a wonderful teacher and is extremely clear and very helpful. She has a slight accent but you can still understand her perfectly (maybe it will make you pay close attention?) She will go out of her way to make sure you understand material. She reviews the day of the test. First time I've ever gotten an A in math class.
She is a very nice lady but her tests are wayy difficult. She also skips steps so you definitely have to speak up if you dont understand something. Shes just okay, I dont think I would recommend her
What a smart beautiful sweet women. Im ok at math but with her... ask her questions and she will help you until you get it. Take her you won't regret it. And she'll reduce the H.W if needed. Final is based on what she taught. As for tests she'll give you hints here & there as to which problems will be on it so study them. Review test will be hande
Wonderful teacher. Really helps her students be confident. Very knowledgable and fair!
if you strugggle with math do NOT take. It can be difficult to understand her. Shes very sweet but not the most patient person. i strugggled a lot and was not offered support from her.
I liked her. She wants you to learn. If you have no intention of trying I would not recomend her. Other wise she is great. She is head of the math department and she is all about the students. I really apprciated her assistance and her desire for you to learn. Great Teacher ! (Wish they were all like her!)
Definetly a great professor! Her class demands some hard work but she is VERY helpful and wants everyone to succeed.
we call her professor b, and she's great. she'll help you as much as you need to understand a section or a problem, she's funny when she's telling the class how lazy they are, but overall she makes any math subject incredibly easy to understand.
She knows how to teach. She teaches materials step by step and does some examples that would help you to understand. Def recommend her class. I have a Calc book n solution manual. good condition and cheap. send me a message if interested.
I love Baytaryan!!! She will be there for you whenever you need her!! Hard class, don't be lazy!
She explains the content well and can translate complex mathematical ideas into real-world examples. The quizzes are simply copying homework and the tests include almost all problems from the assigned review homework. Overall, I'd recommend her, but beware of the substitute she uses -- Aaron Simo. When in doubt: Tutor Center.
She is a great teacher. explains everything in detail. she treats you like you are 13 and MAKES sure you understand everything. after every example she gives she says, "Any questions?" so nice and so wants you to learn and will help you no matter what it takes.
Miss Baytaryian is so nice and understanding. Quizzes once or twice a week where you copy homework problems you had. She's easy to understand and makes sure that she's covered everything thoroughly. Before each test you get review questions that reflect exactly what's on the test.
A decent teacher. Actually remembers all students names by the second day of class. Only problem I had with the class is that the reviews did not always represent exactly was on the test.
Mrs. Baytaryian is a great teacher, extremely nice and approachable and will always take the time to help you if you ask her. She teaches with a passion for her subject that's obvious and explains things thoroughly and with clarity. Her class (Math 104) isn't that difficult, especially if you taken Pre-Calc in HS. Just do your work and take notes.
The class was very easy-I got an A even though I missed half the quizzes. The tests were easy, with exactly what she put on the reviews. She goes really slow and explains everything thoroughly. Love her!!!
She's a good teacher when explaining each concept, however, if you're lazy, do NOT take this class. She doesn't check homework, but gives quizes where you copy random problems from the homework, if you didn't do that particular one, too bad. If you miss too many quizes, she lowers your grade like crazy even though she says they only count for 15%.
The class was very easy-I got an A even though I missed half the quizzes. The tests were easy, with exactly what she put on the reviews. She goes really slow and explains everything thoroughly. I took a summer fast paced class and loved it. She is amazing!
I have never had a better teacher! I was almost failing half way through and she took the time to work with me and by the end of the semester i finished with a low A. Iv never seen a teacher who cared more
Though she was very helpful, I had the hardest time keeping up with her pace. Don't take this course if you tested into 070!! Trust me, take 060 first. She doesn't review formulas and concepts from prior courses, so beware.
she is extremely helpful and wants everyone to succeed. if your a punk that smokes pot all day and cant shut up she wont like you. if your serious about your grad in this class and want to pass and learn something i recommend.
THE BEST PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD. She is so helpful and cares about her students so much! highly highly recommend! she explains everything very clearly. five exams and she will most likely drop one low exam grade.
She was great, very kind and very helpful.
HI THIS TEACHER IS A GREAT TEACHER SHE CARES ABOUT HER STUDENTS AND IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HELP WHEN NEEDED. SHE IS VERY FRIENDLY AND BY HER ACTIONS IT SHOWS THAT SHE REALLY LOVES WHAT SHE IS DOING. SHE IS ALWAYS PREPARED FOR THE LESSONS AND WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTION YOU HAVE...TAKE HER YOU WONT REGRET :)

She is a really good professor! This class was strictly pre-calculus. If you text while she talks she'll know and say something; its not a big deal though. Her lessons were very clear& interesting. Take advantage of her office hours, they really help. Lastly, study everything alot. Its alot of information!
OMG i love her to death. She is so nice and helps you when ever you need it. As long as you go to class and do the work you will do good. She is soooo Helpfull. She will work one on one with you for as long as she can. She wants all her students to pass. She is very funny too. :) love her
Shes a little strict , but she gets the job done. Before her class i didnt understand math at all , but she was willing to stay overtime with me to make sure i understood it. She helped me a lot and was kind to me
She's super nice lady real helpful I wouldn't classify her as "easy" but she does as much as she can to help you learn the material great teacher though not boring
She is amazing. Extremely helpful. Wants you to pass. Lots of work but it will help. She will put you far ahead for your next class.
She has a bit of an accent but doesnt really get in the way of her teaching, she is soo nice and really wants you to pass and will make time to help you in her busy busy schedule. really take her advice because she knows what shes talking about! it was difficult for me but i could have tried harder =/ i would take her class again for sure!
She is the best math teacher I have had in years! She knows what she is talking about. Her class is very structured and organized. She is very kind and understanding but is a hard grader. You have to work hard in her class but you will learn a lot!
I am a straight A student and have never had problems with teachers, but this teacher has no compassion for students. I was out in the hospital for 3 weeks and she didn't excuse me from assignments. She is not understanding and not considerate.
She is a hard teacher, but teaches well. Goes over all homework questions and takes time from class to do so. She uses the book a lot and has a lot of homework but its eoo hard test but it prepares you. wish i could take her again but not teaching the class i need this year
students dropped the class like flies. she is too strict. horrible teacher. tests are nothing like hw assignments. she loves to throw hard questions on the test. do not take her.
She's good, but you definitely earn the grade. She won't give you anything you don't deserve. I took her class over the summer so attendance was crucial. I knew if I missed a day, I'd be extremely behind.
She is extremly helpful. Pay attention on what she said on class, take notes, and do the homework. You will be fine.
Don't take Math 070 over summer...other than that, she is a good teacher and wants all her students to do well. Really hard tests though.
Greatest math Professor I have ever had. I hated math before, but now I'm starting to like it! Ms. B is awesome! =D
She is a very strict teacher but if you LISTEN and follow everything she says, do the homework, and STUDY you will do fine. Only a handful of kids passed in my class because they didn't study or do homework until the final. I never took any math outside of Elem. Algebra 10 years prior and I got an A because I studied and did what she said!
Best proffessor in the whole entire world! Seriously she should be getting an award. So nice so so kind sooooo helpful.. she is amazing and so wonderful! She has a great heart and always made me smile...i loved her!! take herr! and respect her because she deserves it!
Prof. B is great. She explained everything clearly. I had no trouble understanding her. My lowest test score was a 100% but that is probably because I'm good at math. Great teacher. I wish I could take her for Calc.
Good teacher, nice lady, and was willing to help whenever. Took her over summer so it was a fast paced class that people shouldnt take if they are bad at math. She left me longing that she would explain herself more when doing lectures... But thats most likely attributed to shortness of time. Overall grades are heavily weighted on tests/final. 85%
Best teacher ever! she helped me soooooo much!! Take her trust me
prof b is hands down the best math teacher i have ever had. math is my weakest subject but she takes the time to explain everything clearly. i'm in the accelerated class so there is a lot of work but you earn your grade. prior to this i haven't taken a math class in 3 years but the final is tmrw and going in with an A! she's amazing, take her!
she so hands down the BEST math teacher at COC. if your not good at math i would take her!!!
She is super sweet and helpful! I would recommend her to anyone. She explains everything very clearly and is super helpful. Ask questions because she loves to answer them
She is a good teacher but only IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TIME ON YOUR HANDS. She assumes that her class is the only class you are taking. If you plan to take a lower division math class then she is good but for upper division do NOT take her. Most of the class is failing and we do TRY... but most of us just don't have the extra time you need for it.
Do not take her for clac!! She expects you to know everything and thinks that calc is the only class we have. Her tests are extreamly hard and only 10-20% of both of her classes are passing and she still thinks its our fault. If both of her classes arent doing well its clearly her. She might be good for lower divison courses but not for clac.
Really good teacher. Goes over similar problems that you would have on a test. Really like her teaching method. If you find Math fairly easy or interesting, take her!!
TESTS ARE VERRY VERYY HARRDD!!! very nice teacher though but her tests are soooo hard.
awesome teacher. tests are pretty difficult, but definitely doable if you study a lot. do all of the homework and study the group work. she takes questions from the hw and group work for the tests. loved her class, best math teacher at coc by far
Baytaryan is a solid math professor. She provides so much more helpful study material than others. Very nice woman who puts a lot of effort into teaching. Her exams are tough. Most problems require complex algebra before even demonstrating skill from the chapter. Made frequent typos/mistakes on review sheets. Gives step-by-step answer keys.
Okay professor. She is very nice but doesn't really go over what will be on the tests well and they are very challenging. For the tests it seems like she makes questions similar to the group work. I'd say if you can do the group work forward and backwards you'll do well on the tests. Make sure you do all the homework and ask questions!
Honestly, the worst math teacher I have had. She is very disorganized and is not good at teach the actual concept of math. She expects to know everything and skips many steps when giving notes. If you have trouble with math then do NOT take her. She has no patience and her test are VERY hard.
She is very sweet and caring. Only problem I had was her method of teaching. She focuses more on the concept of it rather than if we understand what we're doing. I took this class in high school and passed it beautifully. I only had to take this class because UC's don't accept 3's on AP exams and now that I took it with her, I failed miserably.
Ms. Baytaryian is a very helpful teacher. She teaches based on the concepts but is also very helpful. Keep doing your homework and her homework quizzes will be free points! Do all of the test reviews that she gives since they are all very similar to the tests.
Dr. B is one of the most caring professors I have encountered at COC, she has a honest interest in students who put forth effort and is always available to help. On the other hand the class is by no means easy, she teaches based off the concepts which is great for learning and understanding but makes for harder exams.
I've never left a review on here before but for Baytaryian I felt impelled to do so. Generally, I've had no problems with math classes in the past but her class was IMPOSSIBLY difficult. Studied/did homework 30-50 hours a week and still failed this class terribly. Can't speak for the entire class but I also know the 5 people around me also failed.
Very nice woman overall. When explaining problems though, she skips many steps and assumes everyone is following along. Very fast paced and tests are hard.(I took it over summer so it may differ). I am good at math and only got a B.
She loves math and its obvious. She is a PAL teacher and tries to teach everything that is important. She admitted herself that her class is more difficult than other math classes. But she is a great prof.
Absolutely great professor! I'd be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Im not saying shes a pushover you'll definitely have to apply yourself - she prepares you properly for advanced math - to earn a good grade.. Replaces lowest exam score with final, offers extra credit, and an added bonus her office hours are open to previous students.
Nice woman, but can make you feel stupid for asking a question. Did the homework, studied, worked hard and still found the class to be incredibly difficult. Especially would not recommend if you are returning to school after being out for while. I would look for a more academically helpful teacher to learn from. Would not recommend!
she's such a nice lady and truly cares about her students like they are her own children, wants to help you as much as she possibly can and will explain everything to you as many times as you need. her tests can be difficult but every questions on any quiz or test is right from the homework or groupwork so DO THEM they help so much & ask questions
This is a tough class, she will really challenge you and incorporates a lot of trigonometry. However, if you work hard and diligently you will receive and A. She is also very understanding and passionate!
She has some beautiful notes but besides that she is impatient when it comes to slow students. If you are weak in math do not take her! She has a habit of skipping steps and when doing group work we never had enough time to actually finish it. Don't take her unless you're confident in your math skills.
I took MATH 70 with Mrs. Baytaryian & I must say, it was somewhat challenging. ANY math class taken over Summer & Winter Sem. is just plain challenging in general but Mrs. Baytaryian made it possible. TIP: ALWAYS do your hw because that's where your quizzes come from & don't miss lectures. Very nice & patient teacher. Worth to take! (:
Her tests are ridiculously hard. She also gives quizzes every other day. And if you don''t finish your quiz you''re SOL. She also gives out group work right after the quiz and expects you to finish. She gives pretty good notes but does everything in her head so it''s difficult when you refer back to your notes. She moves very fast.I regret taking her
This class is really tough but she genuinely cares about her students and will do anything to help them pass (as long as you're willing to put in a little effort).
Baytaryian will go out of her way just to help someone. And her tests are not that hard. She hands out study guides and if you do all the problems on the study guide, the test will be a breeze. Most of the questions on the tests are similar to the study guide, if not the same exact question. Fair warning though, there is alot of work to put in.
Definitely the best math teacher I've had. If you make an effort to ask questions she will work with you until you understand comepletly. I never felt stupid asking her a question. She gives quizes, but questions are straight from the hw, and most of test questions are from the hw as well. I've got more out of this class than just a good grade.
Didn't care for her the first time I took her for int. alg. BUT took her for Calc 2 and loved her class. Shes very helpful with her office hours and she goes out of her way to help everyone. Shes fun to be around. I recommend her for ANY class. Calc 2 is a tough class, so you have to work hard regardless. But its worth it, and she give u the tools
Baytaryian- the best math professor I've ever taken at COC. She genuinely cares for her students and is always there to help. She does assign a lot of homework but if the homework is done then expect an easy A because anything that is given on the homework is on the exams and quizzes. She's not there to trick or hurt students, she's there for you!
She's a very sweet and intelligent lady, enjoys math a lot-- she'll show you cool things about math and try to get you excited about it. She takes very clear notes and offers for a student to take them home if they need to. If you ask for help she won't stop explaining until you understand it perfectly. Some group worksheets, overall a good class.
She was aiight
She is THE BEST math teacher. I was extremely terrible in math and failed it prior taking her class. She explains everything very clear and will not move on if you dont understand something. She is extremely helpful and if she sees a class doing bad on tests she gives extra credits. Its a hard class but she will make it easy and clear for you TAKE!
I wouldn't suggest her if you want a luxury cruise. Not many people passed her class in my semester... Not an easy grader and helpful if she has the time.
Took Professor Baytaryian and I couldn't be happier. She explains everything very well and is very helpfull when you need extra explanation. She has a great sense of humor which makes her class even better. She gives quizes from homework and all her tests and final are based on the homework problems. Do the homework, pay attention and you'll get A.
Lectures are SUPER slow! Writes down everything she says causing her speech to be disjointed and hard to follow. Doesn't go over homework problems and does limited examples. Tough grader, expects you to solve problem exactly how she does in lecture. If you understand math this isn't the teacher for you. You will end up ripping your hair out.
I am not great at math and taking a PAL class terrified me but she will not move on until everyone known the material. Must do homework because problems are very similar on exams and quizzes. Give extra credit second half of semester. Put time and effort into it and you'll get an A. She loves math and has a love for teaching. She is there for you.
she is extremely helpful and caring and will give her own time to make sure you understand the concepts. adds extra credit throughout the semester. she makes review sheets before tests and all the questions on the test come from the review sheet. definitely take her!!!
I was scared to take calculus, but I shouldn't have been so worried. Baytaryan jokes around and writes out the lectures on a projector and explains everything as we go along. it's calculus but she makes it easy to understand. just do the homework and you'll be fine
Great Professor, her lectures are helpful and if you don't understand the concepts she will go over them with you during her office hours. Her tests are fair for a Calculus class, not too hard but also no walk in the park. She also gives a lot of quizzes and group works. She is extremely nice and I highly recommend her for any Calculus class.
Professor Baytaryian is really helpful, and wants her students to pass. She also gives a lot of extra credit, it's possible to get a higher grade than 100%. That being said, I'm good at math and I spent time studying for the tests. Overall, if you are good at math, and get easy A+ on precalc and previous classes, this class will be a fun and easy A
I had her for a PAL class. her class was amazing, she gives you reviews, practice test and extra credit on test. she drops 2 low quiz scores and for finals, they are sometimes repeated from previous test or practice test. Down side about it is homework, expect a lot of it, if you take notes and pay attention, you will be perfectly fine and pass.
I had her for the Math 60/70 PAL class and I loved her. Her accent is strong but she is still very understandable. Im always nervous about taking math classes but loved her, she is so smart. Exams are tough but she grades on partial points and gives you study guides. Lots of homework but useful in the end. Take her.
Her lectures are very well constructed and she's very effective at explaining her content. One of the best math professors I've had.
Works very hard to be specific and provide many examples, but is a very harsh grader on the tests. The way she teaches is the way you do it, you don't want to miss out on those few extra points. Homework is essential too, because she picks random questions for a pop quiz. If you can't provide the answers, you don't get credit.
Great professor. Loves math, and wants you to succeed. That doesn't mean that she'll be easy about it though. She will help you if you don't understand, and will give you a clear understanding. If you don't do the homework you won't pass the quizzes. Test are easy if you practice, and do the study guides she gives. Some same exact answers.
Took Math 70 with her over summer, the class was extremely fast paced and challenging, but it became manageable with Professor Baytaryians willingness to help as well as her thoroughness. Shes a sweetheart, if you show her you care about the class she'll take as much time as you need to understand. Semester long classes with her should be a breeze!
She is one of the best math teachers at COC. Truly wants you to succeed but she also want you to work for your grade meaning completing your homework, taking notes, and studying alot for tests. Overall I would say the way she gives notes is really easy to follow and she's very approachable and reasonable. I would definitely recommend!
ok for lower division, avoid for math 211-212
Great teacher!! Probably one of the best math teachers at COC. She gives very detailed notes so homework is a breeze.
Wonderful professor! She gives detailed notes, study guides that look pretty much identical to tests. The only thing that really bothered me was group work this a pretty high level class and to be graded on working with others did not work for me. Other than that highly recommend!
I took her calc class recently and she is probably the best out there. This teacher really wants you to pass and thankfully her notes are online. Most teachers are still old school but she wants the best for you. Its calc so its not easy but she makes sure you get it. I hope i can take her calc 2 class fall semester
she is incredibly difficult and she gives you very little room to help you improve, the notes are thurough and neat, but she is a HARD teacher... if you struggle in math I wouldn't recommend her
Difficult, really tough grader, no extra credit, no GLAs, no make-ups, no exceptions. She has too many outside commitments. Fast lectures, don't expect to learn during class, just obtain example notes. She won't try to help you if you're struggling to keep up with her pace. I highly strongly suggest that you have learned Math 60/70 before taking...
She is a very nice prof, and does care, but she is a tough grader. Her tests are very hard and gives barely any partial credit for trying. There are pop quizzes that come straight from the homework and some are open note which is nice. If you are not good in math or did not learn much in previous classes, I would not recommend to take her.
Worst professor I have ever had. She does not go over homework, expects you to teach yourself the lesson before class, pop quizzes on the homework (that she often makes closed note?). I had to take notes from friends in other calc 2 classes because of how awful hers were. No grade boosts like homework or class work, all on five VERY DIFFICULT tests
Honestly she might be one of the nicest professors I've ever had but that does not mean she can teach properly. Calc 3 is no easy thing and she made it really complicated due to the constant poor lectures. Of course if you have the time to teach yourself this class ,then you will do fine. However, teaching yourself this takes A LOT of time.
Amazing professor and truly knowledgeable, always willing to help. Real students who want to learn appreciate this professor. You need to put in hours of work constantly but at the end you learn and it will help you in your career. Kids who complain here did not put in the work needed.
Amazing professor with good quality lectures and handouts. Will even tell stories about math people who did great stuff in the past. Everyone willing to put in hard work will learn. Would not recommend if your only concern is taking shortcuts and you wanna skip hard work.
I took her for the pal 60&70 and I have nothing against her but if you are someone who needs step by step to see and understand what you are doing, do not take her. If you ask her often for the little steps she'll tell you "you should know this already". She is overall really nice but if you get math without the little steps she's the one for you!
Did all the homework and went to many office hours and still did not pass. She is very helpful if you ask but has no mercy when it comes to grading. Her tests are extremely difficult and her study guides are super long.
Great prof. Definitely learned a lot. Sad to see a bunch of kids who dont get it that its all about work so they thrash the good profs. So glad to leave this place which now attracts more of the lazy and entitled.
I agree she is a great teacher and honestly I'm glad that I took this teacher than the other teachers offered for Calc 2. She is quite a hard teacher and does expect a lot from you, but it's her kindness and energetic personality that makes me recognize her that she is a great teacher. Compared to other teachers, this one actually cares about you!
No extra credit offered. DO THE HOMEWORK. There is a lot of it, but the pop-quizzes are questions straight from the hw. Responds to emails quickly; very available to help outside of class. Gives out study guides a day or two before the exam, and those will show you what type of questions will be on the exam. She wants to help students who try hard.
Amazing teacher, tough tough class... Pal courses are not for everyone, that being said, if I ever have to take another difficult math class I would be thrilled to have Baytaryan again. She understands the concepts so far above and beyond that no matter what your difficulty is she has seen it and knows how to help you get past your issue.
Great prof! Extra credit problems. No HW due, but quizzes are HW questions. Very accessible and helpful. Really cares about students. Use study guide heavily for the exam and there's no surprises. Great lectures for a math class. Use online resources if need be (I recommend Prof Leonard on YT). You can't be lazy in this class if you want an A.
math is not my strongest subject but I passed this professors two classes with As and finally feel like I have a strong grasp of it. She is a great teacher and is a well of overflowing knowledge. She truly cares about her students, and their success in further courses, but your grade truly depends on the amount of effort you put in.
I took her over the summer for a 5-week class. I've always been VERY bad at math, but she explained everything so clearly and gave such thorough examples (that she made sure were harder than the homework problems so we could do it our own) that math became fun. She will answer any question, no matter how stupid it seems and still respect you.
I've taken calculus with 4 different professors, and in my opinion professors doesn't make any difference in your learning process and your grade is mostly up to you. that being said baytaryan teaches decent, grades fairly and sometimes generously. Doing the HW is very important, cuz most of the tests are from HW.
Most difficult class taken at COC so far. Baytaryan sped through the lectures while most of the class had no idea what was going on day to day. Weekends were spent watching youtube to understand the sections and doing homework for all the quizzes. All other classes had to be ignored for me to pass this class.
She speeds through lectures, so it's important to stay on top of your work. She gave a few pop quizzes and those were difficult if you don't understand the material. It is important to do the homework, since homework questions are on the test. Study guides are exactly like the test, so utilize them. If you want an A, you have to work for it!
Baytaryan was genuinely the best math professor I've had yet at COC. I learned more in this class than any other class. You do have to work for your grade, so attend every class. She published notes and handouts. Use the study guides! Sometimes test problems are pulled directly from there. Utilize her office hours; she's is there to help you learn.
She is an amazing teacher who definitely makes you a better calculus student, but her tests are unnecessarily hard. Even other calculus teachers have trouble solving her integrals. She gives test review papers which are the only saving grace, but I've heard she doesn't hand them out any more. If you have other priorities in your life, don't take.
Great professor, however, very very very very tough.
Prof. Baytaryan is such a sweet Professor and really cares about her students. She makes herself really accessible for questions and gives plenty of opportunities to ask questions. However she expects you to remember pretty much all the formulas, and uses difficult questions on tests. Do not take her if you want an easy A but instead want to learn.
She is an amazing professor. She cares about her students and will go above and beyond to help you learn. However her class is extremely difficult. You need to memorize every formula and she chooses difficult problems for tests. There is no credit for homework, only pop quizzes based on the hw. You will need to dedicate a lot of time for this class
Just do the Homework and test reviews and you will be fine. She picks her problems from homework and past tests. Also, be prepared for extra credit and quizzes. quizzes are open notes from homework.
She is a very intense teacher, and doesn't give easy tests. Lots of trig. Identities in tests. Graded only on tests and quizzes. Super lecture heavy. Don't recomend if you are not good at math.
Dr. Baytaryan really makes you work for it. If you cannot commit to learning Calculus by the end of the semester or if you are pretty shaky in trig, do not take this class. She likes pop quizzes and her lectures are very fast paced, but she is accessible outside of class and her lecture notes were available to our class shortly after the session.
Dropped after the first exam because i was 1000% sure I got a 5% on the exam. Exam is nothing like the homework or test reviews. I go to her office hour before every class, did all of the reviews, and homework questions. The exam was just ridiculously difficult. like. hard af. Prof is a very nice and caring professor but she grades v hard.
Honestly, one of the most caring and genuine professors on campus. Very tough exams, so you must prepare by doing all the homework and lecture note problems. Go to office hours, she will help. Cares for her students deeply, and she will help you succeed.
This teacher is by far the best Calc II teacher at COC. She is hard, but all the Calc II professors are hard. She is caring and you need to do all the extra credit. The homework is not mandatory, but you will need to do it and study A LOT. The first test needs you to study more than you needed to.
Great teacher, amazing person. Her class is fun (if you like math) and her office hours were always a big help. Although I did not get the grade I wanted (or probably did not deserve), I feel like she still helped me get the grade I got. I would take her if you are not afraid to ask questions and speak to professors.
Her Calc II class was the hardest class I've taken so far, but I've heard that's just typical of the course. She did a good job explaining the material and provided us with practice problems for each of the tests, as well as extra credit opportunities. She is really patient with her students and tries to make sure everyone understands.
Grades are completely based on exams, nothing given for homework. She is uncaring, gets mad at students for suggesting how she could improve the way she teaches, and makes the tests absurdly hard for no reason. Study guides/hw/lectures NOTHING like the exams. Robotic, boring, technical lectures. You will regret taking her class, mark my words.
Professor Baytaryan is by far the best math professor at COC. She is very thorough in her lectures. She will make you work for your grade. The test are sometimes challenging but you will gain a better understanding of Calculus. The test are similar to her study guides and lecture notes!
Very temperamental & defensive. Makes it hard to ask for help and clarification without yelling or aggression.
I recommend her for Calc 212
Professor Baytaryan has really good lectures, Ill give her that. But because the class was online she became extremely paranoid and made her exams the hardest thing you will ever take in a math course. Her problems on her tests are question you wouldnt even find on her notes or homework. She is also extremely rude and yells at everyone each class
Tests and quizzes are the hardest things you will EVER take. She doesn't grade homework, but it doesn't matter because nothing from homework or lectures reflects the way she writes her tests/quizzes. I have never even been close to failing a class in my life, and it looks like this may be the first. Ridiculous class, does NOT test your knowledge.
Professor Baytaryan is such a caring soul. Though her tests were really hard if you study you can easily pass this class. Many students had problems with the professor with her unexpected tests but that's what Calculus is for. Calculus is never easy but she makes sure that nobody is lagging behind in her class. She is an easy grader.
Baytaryan is sweet and I loved attending her class. This class consumed my summer but I got an A, so it payed off. Her tests are not that hard (don't get me wrong the content is very hard, but the tests themselves are not hard). The quizzes were impossible. Half of the class dropped, and test averages were in the 50s. Don't cheat; she catches ppl.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class during the pandemic. Is extremely overbearing when it comes to exams, requires you to turn on a camera while you take it, has admitted to putting questions she never taught on exams in order to trick people into cheating. Just find a new prof or take her when you don't have to have her online. Very paranoid.
Your experience with this professor ultimately depends on you. If you rarely go to office hours and barely pay attention to her lectures, then you'll have a bad experience. If you attend most office hours, pay attention, and ask a lot of questions, she's becomes a really helpful teacher. Very helpful and grades tests generously in my opinion.
She was rude to students asking for help. The homework had videos attached explaining how to do the problems so many did well on that. She would then complain that the class was cheating bc they did good on the hw but not on tests/quizzes. Lectures were hard to follow along with, she skips steps.
OK please listen to me do not take this professor for Calc 2 she is by far the toughest professor Ive ever encountered with. She tries so hard to find people cheating on her exams. they are through zoom and paper print out. Instead of giving partial credit she literally took away partial credit if you didnt do step-by-step. Take it w some1 else!!
Do not blame her. She has a pure passion for education and learning. She also has a warm heart and always tries to do it. Yes her test is hard. however, here is fact. The test 1,2,3 are very similar like the previous test and she offers such a good source for preparing. so, you get good grade if you work hard. she also usually drop one lowest test.
Shes such a terrible teacher, lectures arent recorded so if you miss a class youre basically screwed, this class is harder than it should be, I was only able to pass because I knew most of the things since I took ap calc in high school, dont take her unless you have to.
Such a terrible teacher, her teaching style is terrible and difficult to understand. She also may get an attitude when asking for help.
Probably one of the worst professors Ive ever had, tests were also difficult since one test would cover over two chapter worth of Information, I dont recommend her trust me
I'm usually really good at math, but this was a terrible class. Tests were so hard, and even if you get answers write she'll mark off like 4 points because of the way you did it. I would stay away from this professor if you want to pass calc 1. She explains concepts very badly as well.
During the pandemic, her test are the hardest ones you will ever come across, because shes paranoid of cheaters. The homework does not prepare you for her test, which consists of concept questions and questions you will only see on her worksheets and quizzes. Her test will challenge your understanding of math, so expect to either sink or swim.
terrible teacher for calc, I do not recommend her, take at the risk of dropping your gpa.
Trust me, don't do it to yourself. One of the worst math teachers I've ever had. Super paranoid about cheater, during quizzes and exams she'll constantly call out peoples name to readjust cameras, so it's hard to even concentrate. Tough grader on exams, half the class got like a 6/100 on the first quiz.
Test and quiz averages are in the 50s, a very very difficult teacher. Her tests and quizzes are extremely difficult. She puts questions on the test that she never went over and is extremely paranoid of cheaters. It feels almost impossible for someone who hasn't taken calculus before to get good grades in this class.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!Took her for 211and 212 (barley pass so gave another shot) each time was HORRIBLE. Her tests and quizes, do not resemble the Homework at all. She gives you practice test but "DONT EXPECT IT TO RESEMBLE YOUR TEST", therefore those practice tests are useless. Your grade is based off of TEST/FINAL SCORE, ave. grade is 50%. BEWARE
I've never disliked a professor even more. She's nice but literally does not know how to teach. She doesn't want to record her lectures which is so bad and then her computer breaks down during class and we waste 30 mins and have to cram the chapters into the next day. Literally just take another professor.
Dr Baytaryan is a nice lady who wants her students to succeed, however; her lectures, hw, notes posted do not ressemble to the exams that can help one with their grade. The class also requires a camera for exams and print out that is very extra to do after the exam. She needs to be more considerate and flexible, take another professor.
For the people that havent take her before just dont trust me, these reviews arent lying, shes the worse professor Ive ever had, she made calc 2 the most difficult thing ever, I took calc 1 with her and barely passed, if you miss class youre screwed cause she doesnt record lectures, those test are hard! Im just trying to help yall!
She's nice and takes her time with lectures to explain any confusion on a topic. Provides study guides that mimi the actual exams, but the main issue with this teacher is her grading. She's a hard grader because if you don't do a problem exactly as she taught you, you'll get partial or no credit. Her class would be better if it were curved. STUDY!
She might be a nice person but she is definitely stuck in the past. For this class, you will have a absurd amount of classwork. If online, you will specificall go to school to take the exam. Furthermore, no calculators nor notes will be allowed or provided. I swear she changed her course description to get people inside. Listen to the other reviews
A nice woman, but not the best at teaching students. If a test doesn't go as she expected, get ready for what she has to say. Group work and tests are the main portion of your grade which makes it impossible to improve.
She may be a nice-mannered professor, but she makes her class harder than needed. While lectures are online, you are required to go to campus to take your exams. On top of that, she allows no calculators or notes and is extremely paranoid about cheaters. Even more, she does not curve her tests and barely gives extra credit. Do not take her at all.
She doesnt go in depth with questions or review the homework. Also homework holds almost no weight your grade really does depend on test performance. A lot of the questions she has for group work and test and extremely difficult even many of the tutors I've asked don't understand them. I understand this class takes time but this is impossible.
Although this is an online you still need to go on campus to take tests. She does not allow any type of calculator or help sheet on the exams either. She breezes through concepts and expects you to have everything memorized from Calc 1. Doesnt make class engaging and despite the majority of the class struggling she refuses extra credit or curving
She is very nice but not good at teaching. Nobody quite understands whats going on. Lots of homework, 4-5 lessons worth due every other day and in person tests even though everything is online.
She is a great math professor! She was accessible when I needed help and very caring. I got full credit for late assignments and she gave tons of extra credit for participating in class. Even though the math can be hard, and her lectures are thorough on the theory/concepts behind the math, the problems she gives are important for understanding.
RUNNNN! I usually excel in mathematics and this class was online zoom with in person testing. I had to withdraw this semester because she expects us to read the lecture before class, and expects to already understand the material. The material in this class is very difficult and need to be explained thoroughly, which she doesn't do.
Unfortunately, negative reviews of this professor aren't exaggerated. I don't have much to say that hasn't been said already, but I would like to note that she stated that going to the TLC for so much as clarification on an assignment is what she considers academic dishonesty. Furthermore, although she claims to grade on a curve, she does not.
other ppl are lying. she was a good prof. she wants u to read lec. notes before class and then she redoes the notes in class. 5-10 participation points = 1 test point. her tests look daunting at first, but if yk what ur doing, ur chillin. she gives partial credit on tests and is rlly fair when grading. she has an accent, but it didn't bother me.
She is a good person but the teaching style wasn't for me personally. This class is lecture heavy but she has good lecture notes. Material is difficult so outside research helps.
Lectures were understandable unless you had no prior knowledge of the topic (would not recommend for more challenging math courses). Helpful lecture notes. Provided great test preparation and was generous with partial credit and bonus points. Caring and listened to student feedback. The final was difficult but only worth 25% of the final grade.
She grades generously, giving partial credit even on EC problems. Her lecture notes are thorough, but she does expect students to read the textbook before the lesson. Prior knowledge on Algebra and Trig are extremely important, as the material is hard. Otherwise, pay attention and ask questions in class. Office hours are also available.
Professor Baytaryan is a great professor, as long as you are willing to put in the work. She is very generous with her extra/partial credit, and is very understanding. I was initially very scared about this class because of what I had heard about her, but as long as you review her old tests, notes, and do many practice problems, you can make an A!
She is an amazing woman and although she may go faster than usual during lectures, she has no problem slowing down to answer any questions even if you think they are stupid. The extra credit and partial credit she gives are game changers if you are struggling with the regular exam questions. Studying lecture notes & doing homework will help a lot!
She's very kind, she always wants her students to do well, and always makes sure to answer questions. She provides well-written lecture notes. I recommend studying them because a lot of the problems ended up on the exams or ones that were very similar. Some weaknesses: exams were difficult, andsometimes her explanations/lectures were hard to follow
Great teacher when actually teaching (she attempted a different format which was NOT helpful at all, but reverted back, thank goodness). Students are to read text & lecture notes - fully understand everything before class. Do all the review questions from study guides & lecture notes. Get help from TLC & office hours. Do the work & put in the time.
Extremely test-heavy, but an overall excellent professor.
A very nice woman, but makes her Calc II class difficult. Tests were on the hardest material of the lectures, and she gives many group work assignments. Her homework was graded on correctness, and doesn't go over homework problems in class. If you got an A in Calc I, you will probably be fine, but if you got a B or a C, take a different professor.
Professor Baytaryan is very kind and hardworking professor. She can break down complicated problems into easy to understand steps. She also provides many examples during her lecture so the homework is less intimidating (The book is more for homework problems. The text itself is not helpful). She has a study guide so the test is not suprising.
If you struggle with math, I highly suggest not taking her. Her tests are nothing like the practice problems she gives, and she is a hard grader. Again, if you're good at math, you'll be fine, but if you struggle, do yourself a favor and take someone else. Tests are 60% of your grade; bomb two, and you're screwed. She is very nice but a hard prof.
I took her online precalculs class, and although the class structure was kind of hard, she gave you all the tools you need to get the grade you want. I would advise taking her in person classes just because the Zoom lectures are long and boring and you have fewer opportunities to ask questions compared to in person classes.
Professor Baytaryan cares about her students. She is straightforward to ask questions and helps a lot when struggling with math. She does review sessions before exams to make sure everyone understands the material. She helps everyone pass.
She is the best math professor in COC. The tests are hard, but if you do the homework and go over lecture note problems on your own, you will succeed. She is a very caring person and answers all questions from homework, lecture notes, textbooks, and anywhere else. It's not an easy A class, but after taking her class, any math will be easy for you.
She is a very caring professor who is willing to put up with sacrifices in her schedule so her students can better understand the material. Her tests are hard but if you put in the work, ask questions, and study additionally on your own time you can pass this class. My biggest tip is to study her notes rather than her study guide.
Professor Baytaryan's class is challenging but rewarding. She provides great support through partial credit, study guides, and office hours. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for practice problems alongside the textbook.
professor is awful! has pretty lecture notes but does NOT explain every step;skips over steps/ gives so much homework, feels impossible to complete within time constraint. complains of having hectic schedule/not having time to help students with homework questions when she assigned it! Tests very difficult/ need to memorize everything to survive
This was the most awful math professor I have ever taken at COC, she really does cherry pick the hardest material from the lecture and puts solely that on her tests. Sometimes less then half the class would pass an exam with a C and she would not care. She is incredibly rude when answering questions. I would avoid at all costs!!! Take anyone else.
I loved taking Calc II with her! She is genuinely so nice and cares about her students. Her lecture notes are extremely helpful and she answers any homework questions. If you take her class, be ready to read the lecture notes as most of the exams questions are taken from there. Her tests are hard, but doable as long as you study and ask questions!
She's a very kind professor. I personally didn't like her lectures because they were very long and repetitive; it was easy to get lost. I don't recommend taking the online Calc II class for that reason. Her tests are very hard!! Make sure to study the all lecture notes because those are where the questions come from.
Professor Baytaryan's classes are great but very tough. Although she is a kind professor who genuinely cares about having her students succeed, every single one of her exams was way more difficult than necessary. However, she has many "grade-saving" policies, so I was able to pass with an A despite performing poorly on multiple exams.
Very kind and knowledgeable, but teaches a hard class. If you put in the effort, you'll get an A and she'll be right there with you for any questions you have.
As a student coming from High School to go to her, this class was ridiculously hard. As a professor, she's pretty good for a hard class like calc 2, I almost failed but that was partly because I'm new to college, but she is very nice and makes the class passable If you work for it. Tests are very hard, but studying is crucial to getting an A.
I would recommend another teacher for this course. This class was very hard to follow. There was lots of test that were also hard to complete. Overall it was really horrible. Unless your really good at studying by yourself i would not recommend this teacher for this course.
she's strict and pretty indifferent to people needing more help. I struggled heavily due to her not explaining important concepts well enough, and the fast pace of her lectures. she's also bragged about how a lot of people fail her class... if you're someone who doesn't like that, then take another teacher and only have her as a last resort.
Do not take this professor if you want a good grade. She grades really harshly and does not provide a lot of support. She makes you work with other people on group quizzes that are also graded harshly. She acts like she cares, but does nothing for the students who are struggling.
Very nice, caring, and wholesome professor. She has a thick accent, but is still very easy to understand and explains concepts relatively clearly. The class is EXTREMELY test heavy, so you gotta rely a lot on crunch-time studying. Homework (though lightly weighted) is easy and very helpful, no busy work at all. I did Calculus 3 and loved it.
She was kind enough. But took forever to post any study guide. Typically giving students less than a week to study for a test. On a few occasions she posted the study material only a day or two beforehand and once posted the study material 12 hours before a test. She also does not teach well. ChatGBT explained a lot of the concepts to me.
Im very conflicted about her. I can tell she's a nice person, and I found her very approachable, but she's *such* a hard grader. Any little thing you don't explain on any of her tests, she'll dock off half the points on the question. She's not as bad as a lot of people make her out to be, but if you have the chance to choose someone else, do that.
Professor Baytaryan is very kind, and she has by far the best online lectures. Her tests are very straightforward, and she provides review problems, as well as the exact structure of the test beforehand, so you always have the opportunity to know exactly what you are being tested on. Do her homework and attend test reviews, and you will always pass
I have now had Professor Baytaryan for Pre Calc, Calc 1, and Calc 2 and I can comfortably say she is the best Calculus professor at College of the Canyons. She always provides a test layout for each one of her classes and if you ask, she will provide previous exams. All these studying materials along with her notes prepares you to succeed in class.
Professor Baytaryan is the sweetest professor I had at COC. Her lectures were extremely thorough and matched the material that was given on tests. She did not hesitate to help when you were struggling, and tried her best to explain everything she could. I would recommend taking her as long as you put in the work, do the hw, and ask questions!
Words cannot express how much I dislike this professor. Her test reviews are unrealistic, average in Cs/Ds. Spent 14+ hours studying each test just for her to put the most abnormal problems. Lectures robotic and unengaging, grades extremely harshly. I know Calc 2 is challenging but this class was one of the worst experiences of my educational life.
I have mixed feelings about this prof. I took Calc-2 over the summer, it was by far the most difficult thing I have ever done. Calc was literally my life, my dreams were literally integrals. She loves her students, math and wants you to succeed, but you have to WORK. There is so much homework; exams are close to impossible. Only way to pass is WORK
It genuinely feels like she wants you to fail. It sucks that math211 is a required class for most majors to transfer, she genuinely makes you want to give up on transferring, all because of one class. Don't take this class with her if you actually want to pass and move on to another college.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She genuinely is so unrealistic when it comes to tests (70% of your grade btw) and i've put over 30+ hours studying and the test is almost completely different. If you want to go to a UC, or even a CSU, take another professor because over half my class dropped after the first test.
This class is extremely difficult to pass. The professor discourages independent thinking, gives almost no partial credit, and often accuses students of cheating for solving problems differently. She even brags about failing past students and threatens to curve grades down if curves are requested.
She is the best teacher at COC for mathematics, I have never had an easier class than this. So much extra credit, all the hw is online, and her lectures are posted on canvas. Completely online, but you have to share your screen during tests and no need for camera to be on. Extremely easy class, 100% recommend to anyone wanting to get an A.
Easiest class ever, completely online, no face needed to be shown but you do have to screen record tests (not stopping anyone). Hw was also completely online but does cost around 20 dollars for entire semester. Lots of extra credit, meaningful discussions, and amazing research opportunities offered. Take this class if you want an easy A.
Would never recommend. Just wait till next semester if no other teachers are available
This is the most unfair teacher that I have ever had. She threatens to curve down (hurting our grades). She also messes up on problems all the time in class. On tests, expect no partial credit. Everything has to be done her way, even if you can use a short cut to get the same answer. I honestly have no idea how she has any ratings above one star.
Do NOT take calc 1 with this professor, it is a waste of your time and effort. I took two years of calc in high school and I still had to drop the class along with about 90% of the class. Lectures are long and boring, 80% of your grade is five tests, and its expected of you to study for 10+ hours a week. NO extra credit and ZERO grade curving.
The 5.0 ratings is probably the professor trying to boost her own rating. Her entire class is a waste of time. Don't take her. Her entire class is test heavy and she wont give you enough time to even complete the quizzes.
This teacher is very unfair. Long and boring lectures. She messes up in the examples all the time. She also talks bad about students. She has ruined my college experience. I also agree that the five star rating must be from the teacher.
Worst experience in college! Do not take this professor unless you are asking for an F and a huge waste of time.
I genuinely think she givers herself 5.0 because this class was the worst experience ever. Her exams do not correlate at all with what she teaches and I wasted an entire semester for NOTHING. I put over 20hrs+ studying a week for test to still fail. She genuinely does not care about her students. Take another teacher or wait, she ruined my 4.0 gpa
A lot of students don't like her because she tells the truth. It's not her fault that this class is challenging. You have to know all your algebra and trigonometry before going into this class. If you didn't do good in precalc in high school you should take it again before doing calculus. She's very caring and wants the best for her students
Great teacher. The B was my fault. She rounds your grade up 2% as well. You NEED to work hard and keep up with lectures in this class, but it is very doable. If you work for an A, you will get it.
