Great professor, clear and patient. Will go over things as many times as needed. Gives out practice exams so you know what to expect on the real one.
Love his class! He makes it interesting and isn't afraid to laugh at himself!!
He is a great teacher!
Math is not easy but he makes it interesting.
Ryan is a great teacher! He's patient, clear, and focused. A perfect math teacher for both science and art majors. I highly recommend him.
Very patient teacher, highly reccommend. A+ I hate math, but was able to pass class with B
Great teacher, very clear about what is required.
Great teacher, very clear, very helpful.
Ryan is your guy. He never thought he'd end up as a math prof but here he is! He knows what works for students and what doesn't. Very clear. Great notes. Better explanations than the book. On your level. TAKE HIM!
To be fair, this was Ryan's first term teaching 111C, so he has room to improve. He seemed bored by the material, and used class time as extended study sessions. I wouldn't recommend him for this class, I'd look for someone who loves the subject, and is interested in helping students learn & really understand math. Nice, laid back guy though.
Seems to know his stuff; young and seemingly inexperienced. I felt bewildered in his pre-calc class & was turned off when he announced that we would not learn anything in class & would have to go to the tutoring center to learn... Probably a great teacher for those with a better understanding of math. Not for me. Nice guy, though.
Nice guy, but he treats college mathematics like a day job. He doesn't engage the class with as many questions as would be helpful, and falls back on the book heavily for notes and explanations (I want a teacher, not a narrator). Tests are simple, straight-forward and he supplies practices quizzes which are startlingly similar to the actual quiz.
He is a very nice instructor. Right to the point. Very attentive to students' need. His tests are very clear. His lectures are easy to understand. I would strongly recommended to any student who needs to take math 95.
By far one of the best!!!
His explanations are good, he is approachable, and he'll work with you as much as you need him to. After he explains a subject, if no questions are asked he'll assume everything is clear. His test are similar to the practice tests, and they tend to be easy but can get hard. I recommend him, especially if you are interested in the subject.
Took mth95 with Ryan this past fall. He's straightforward, to the point, and he doesn't try to trick you at all. At first I thought he was too easy, but after 111C I knew he prepared me well. He's really laid back and mellow, and has a decent sense of humor (might have to coax it out of him though). I'd take him again, and highly recommend him!
He's great. You don't have to do the homework. It's to your advantage to crack the book and pay attention but he's awesome. Grading is god. He is down to earth with a sense of humor.
I took Ryan last term for 65 and am now in his 95 class. It took me a little while to get used to his style, but once I did, he has really worked out well for me. Half my 65 class have ended up taking him again for 95. I highly recommend him. I never leave class wondering what's going on.
Great teacher very helpful and sligtly comical
Ryan has been one of my favorite professors ever. He actually cares if you learn, and takes extra time to make sure you understand how the lesson will help you in the future. Highly recommended, though be careful if you are sloppy--He is a major stickler for "presentation"
Ryan does his best to give math a real world aspect. Given this, there are certain concepts I will never forget.

Great teacher. Fun, smart and always willing to take the time to make sure you got it. I would take him again if I had the chance.
Ryan is an excellent teacher and I recommend him. I took him for 112. The reason for the difficulty rating is not because of him. He is actually a bit easier than many other teachers that I have had, but because of the material. I will be taking him again for 252. Thumbs up!
Ryan prepares lecture notes with definitions and examples in advance, working through the types of problems you will run into during the homework. He's super laid-back, but takes his work seriously. --Highly recommended--
Math is fun
Great Professor. Highly recommended. Very organized and clear. He's very laid back, but expects you to apply yourself and be very neat on the write-ups. Tests were difficult, but that is to be expected in Calculus.
Ryan is a great teacher. I wasn't sure about him the first day of class, but he is extremely helpful and works the problems out in every fashion possible(almost)! I would take him for my 111 class. Highly recommended, not to mention that he's laid back and down 2 earth.
Great Instructor. Extremely helpful and approachable. Challenges his students like he should.
I was not sure about Ryan on the first day of class(dont let that scare you away). He expects you to be a good student. He explains the course wonderfully and is very helpful. show your work and in a neat fashion. You can tell that he enjoys math and you can work a sense of humor out of him. Highly recommend him
A thorough instructor who prepares you well to move to the next level in math. Particular about how you write your math out and docks points if it's not to his liking. Kinda frustrating. Most of your grade comes from three huge tests, the rest from graded problems he comes up with. If you are not a great test taker, take another teacher.
This Professor is VERY good! He teaches very meatodically, and gets it across....and he has humor as well! Awesome guy!
Got a difficult subject ahead? You need Ryan. He's extremely careful about being clear and making sure ALL OF YOU understand, and he'll pause until he's sure you do. Expect weekly quizzes based on hand-out homework with no answer key (you gotta pay attention and do the work!). He's modest, really cool, and laid-back. Very comfortable class.
Ryan is a good teacher and a goood guy. His style doesn't really work for me as I hate taking notes but that's more of a personal thing for me. His tests are hard and you have to pass all of them to pass the class. Good teacher in general but not for those that are bad test takers and not into taking lots of notes. He's got an awesome personality
Ryan is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. Personable, funny, patient and articulate. Get ready to be challenged, but he will always make himself available to help. I would take him again but he doesn't teach 111C! Argh!
Ryan's methods should be the industry standard when it comes to teaching, his calm cool collectiveness makes you feel at ease and he is always there reassuring you, his no man left behind teaching makes any class he teaches one worth taking!
great class tought me more than 95
Ryan is my favorite professor at PCC so far. He's extremely organized & clear. His lecture notes are well planned & he uses enough examples to understand the material. I obviously recommend him. The work included a short weekly assignment (about 1-6qs), short weekly quiz (1-5qs), 2 exams & a final. Homework was assigned but not turned in.
Ryan is an excellent teacher. His tests are very hard but he really prepares you for them. He's laid back and funny.
Can't say enough great things about him. In short he is a professor vs. an instructor. Takes complex ideas and brings them down for us students to understand. His lectures actually apply to the work/quizzes/tests so going to class PAYS OFF. Tests were difficult but they had NO surprises.Wish id know of him earlier. took him for linear algebra. hot!
The textbook material isn't anything you can't handle but his exams are much more difficult than the material he assigns.
Ryan's a great teacher, always willing to take a moment to make sure everyone is on the same page. Tests are tough but fair, he does prepare you for them. Also, he's kind of adorable.
took linear algebra this past quarter. he graded fairly, told exactly what to expect on the test, and was there to help if you have difficulty with any of the concepts. Was nice and seems like a good guy overall. Definitely recommended to all!
I was a straight A student until I took Ryans math 95... His exams are extremely tough - and the only prep you get is to review problems from the text book- no pre-tests- so be prepared! If you are at all slightly hesitant in Math or in taking tests... I DO NOT recommend his class... He is more ideal for those students with NO hesitations re: Math.
for all the math 95 students slandering ryan's name; ryan allison is more than qualified to teach math, and he is great at it. maybe you should realize that math 95 is a tough class, and get over yourselves. i had ryan for linear, and he was great. he is a bit tough, but its only because he wants to make sure you actually LEARN the material.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Professor does his best to make everything crystal clear and breaks everything down so that all makes sense. Great teacher.
He is incredible, very very good at teaching. He is patient and willgo over obvious stuff without any condescending tone. Deffinitely recommend him to everyone at any level of Math. Love him!
Ryan is the bomb!! I highly recommend him to anyone who feels reluctant to do well in mth. You will succeed with him as your instructor!!! Not to mention he is adorable too...lol
Easily the best professor I've had so far.
Nothing on a personal level. But, I think Ryan's overall teaching structure could be improved seriously thus improving what is currently a NET 60% fail-rate class at PCC. All points are majority exam-influenced and have few questions, thus making it way too easy to get a D or C and less chance of a B or A.
Ryan is awesome, one of the best math teachers I've ever had! He's really patient, and focuses on teaching you not making you do a bunch of **** just to satisy his own ego (which he doesn't have by the way like a ton of math teachers do) There was a math teacher in my highschool that if you weren't on the football team you basically were a loser!
Does good job@explaining concepts. have to keep up with reading else lectures are pointless-ish. Very patient, makes sure people understand concepts. Very Approachable. He is also a tutor at the tutoring center. Not socially outgoing, won't email, call, talk to you if failing the class. Says"arewecool"allthetime Equiv;"Doyouunderstandwhati'msayin
Ryan is a great teacher! He has a way of explaining math that I get (finally). I have never been good at math and I thing I may actually get a B in this class! If you have to take math 65....you should take it with Ryan!
This was by far the best math teacher I've come across. He was so patient and appreciates and understands other peoples learning styles. His class moved fast, but if you do your homework and make sure you go to the tutoring center or see him, every chance you get for help, you will do fine! :) I would recommend him for any level.
Ryan is a natural teacher. He will take the time to help students when they don't understand something. His lectures are extremely clear and thorough, and his assignments are appropriately difficult. I couldn't recommend him more highly.
Allison should go back to teaching math 65, and math 95. He is incomprehensible when describing problems, and is completely uninterested in the subject matter. Laid back isn't how I'd describe him. I'd describe him as a misanthrope who hates his job.
I've had 20+ teachers at PCC, and I've ranked them based on how good they were, if they were likeable, organized, and fair. Ryan made the top 3 and remains one of my favorite teachers. Very patient, passionate about your comprehension, but laid-back, and just a really cool guy. He also might be the best one-on-one tutor I've ever had. Take Ryan.
I will admit, I have a thing for math nerds so just wanting to look at him is a good part of my desire to attend class. Aside from that, he is a great teacher and speaks to all learning languages: visual, auditory and tactile. I appreciate that he doesn't rely on the textbook to teach, it is purely supplemental for our own benefit. I grade him A+!
If you have no interest in math and want to learn DO NOT choose this man. He doesn't have time for the people in the class that actually NEED to learn. Don't take his class if you don't know your subject and have a desire to learn it.
In short, take another teacher if you want to learn.
Ryan is a good teacher. He doesn't rely on the book and his lectures are very helpful. I enjoyed his class and thought he was one of the best math teachers I've had. I am dissappointed that he isn't teaching 244 this term. I recommend him 100%. He is very helpful, gives you tons of study guides to help you with the test. Great guy, TAKE HIM!
Great instructor. Wish he was teaching 65.
Ryan is amazing and easily the best professor I've had in math thus far. He makes sense when explaining math, is patient, and is more than willing to help students who don't understand. A+ to Ryan and I wish I could take the rest of my math classes from him.
down to earth teacher learning alot from him
The best math instructor I have ever had. I am now looking forward to going forward with math. He explains things in a way that anyone could understand and he has a wonderful attitude. I really enjoyed having him as an instructor.
Super down to earth and extremely helpful. Always happy to help you outside class. Very relaxed class. Math has never been one of my strong subjects but because of his teaching style I now look forward to it.
very prepared, and takes time to make sure everyone understands befor moving on.Does a thorough review at the begining of every class to make sure no student is left guessing befor moving on.I highly recomend Ryan
I never liked math until now, Ryan is a really patient and thorough teacher. If you can't succeed in his class well then you aren't trying very hard.
Ryan is very patient with students and will help on an individual basis. He doesn't take crap from rude students, which is nice! He is kinda monotone but very clear.
Mr. Allison is a very laid back teacher. He is soft spoken and is willing to go over things several times until everyone understands. Ryan knows math in and out and barely uses the book. He likes to make jokes and isnt afraid to laugh at himself.
organized and well prepared. Reviews all previous work so everyone gets it befor moving on and quizes are always on materiel covered in class. No surprises. If you have a choice this is the teacher you want.
Ryan is awesome. If you are afraid of math he will show you how awesome it is and that you can do it. He goes and a sightly slower pace than some other profs and explains everything very clearly. He is really nice and willing to help you. I highly recommend him!
Tests did not reflect actual bookwork. I took his class based on the ratings here and wonder if he stopped being so available to help and clear in his instruction by the time I enrolled. I won't take him for any other math classes.
I had Ryan for both math 20 and math 65. He's very easy to understand and will provide assistance if needed. One thing I love about him, is that he pretty much leaves you alone unless you WANT help. For a class that meets twice a week: He lets you know when there's a quiz (usually one a week) and there are three tests throughout the semester.
Took Ryan in MTH 20, 60, & 65 with no regrets. Great teacher, very helpful and laid back. Would highly recommend to any and everyone taking a math class at PCC.
I have never understood math until I came to this class. He has a way of teaching so that anyone can understand it. Makes it wonderful. He is a wonderful instructor. Be prepared for a lot of book work though. Wants you to practice all the time so you can catch on. Very informative at the beginning of every class with a Q&A. Recommended instructor.
he takes questions from homework first then lectures and ends the class with activities or a quiz. There are a lot of quizzes and the midterms (there are 2) are worth 50% of your grade.
Great guy, great teacher. Very helpful. Got me going after 7 years break from math. Highly Recommended!
Amazing teacher, funny, down to earth and so easy to learn from! Recommend 100%
I don't generally enjoy math classes, haha, but he was awesome! He was pretty much exactly what I would want in any math teacher. He taught clearly, slowly, and made sure that everyone understood (he was completely open to questions). I highly recommend Ryan!
Great ! very clear !
Mr. Allison has raised my interest in math exponentially! Before his class I was convinced that I could never pass Math. He is clear, he articulates very well, has a keen interest in his students learning, is very professional, approachable and available. He's a gem of a teacher!
Great teacher. Shows interest in his students success and reassures that he is there if you need any help. He goes over the lesson then passes out an assignment and allows you to work with others and ask questions if you need help. Amazing teacher. Definitely recommend.
Mr. Allison very good at explaining things. He uses analogies and applies it to math. To me, that is very helpful. He seemed intimidating at first and scared the crap out of me but he wants to make sure you're ready for the next level. Overall... great quality. I still don't really like math, but I don't hate it as much anymore.
He was a great professor, smart, kind and very helpful if you bother to ask him questions. He seemed to have a genuine interest in his students doing well and made sure to ask if there were any questions after any examples that he gave. He was very approachable and was very understanding and willing to help if you had test anxiety or other problems
Such a great teacher, kept the class fun and easy going. Would totally take him for every math class possible.
His a very nice polite teacher. but He made math very dreadful, most of class time was spent lecturing, and the lectures were not interesting at all. The test wasn't relevant to the hw at all, so much hw was assigned and didn't count mcuh towards the grade. And he give you tips on how to improve your grade or anything.
Ryan is a great teacher. He explains heady concepts in a clear manner and makes himself available to help students virtually around the clock. I had a question on a weekend before a test and he got back to me in an hour. He's always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand the concepts and succeed in the class.
Mr. Allison is an AWESOME teacher!! Lectures from him are like lectures from one of the "bro's" :) YOU MUST DO YOUR HOMEWORK TO PASS THIS CLASS.. If you don't do your homework, you'll be sorry come test time. Math 95 is hard, practice makes perfect. Mr. Allison does a GREAT job Keeping things clear, so listen to his lectures. Practice!
Mth 70 was pretty boring, but this teacher was the best for the subject. Straightforward, and clear explanations . Seemed to be a chill dude.
Mr. Allison was able to accomplish the impossible. I have struggled with math since 3rd grade. Ryan was the 1st teacher to ever make the subject clear to me & he taught it in a way that stuck. I started with him in MTH 20, and still to this day refer back to his notes while taking other math classes. He is nothing short of amazing.
