No late work, strict but clear grading, super nice
Very good quality instruction and feedback
Pretty great professor. He makes it very clear what he is looking for during the semester and if you follow the syllabus you're good.
Only thing that really got me was the concert report because he is very specific about what you can attend so make sure you look into that way before it is due.
His class is so easy online! There was only one discussion a week, three exams throughout the entire course, and the final was attending a concert and writing a 3-5 page report on it. He's also an easy grader. I would absolutely take again.
Really cool class. Basically like you joined a community of music lovers. Tests are easy if you do the readings. Great class to lighten your semester.
He is an awesome professor! This is an easy class to pass and he is very flexible. I would definitely choose him again!
Great Professor 3test all multiple choice. 1 concert that you must attend. Do your work to the best of your ability don't be late turning in work and you will pass the course. Highly Recommend
Proff Bricknell is a great professor. I took his music in humanities course online and he gave you every tool you could possibly use to do well in his class. From the textbook and even listening discussions so you can experience the sounds of what your learning.
Professor was laid back but clear v with the course assignment, tests, and additional work.
I love this professor! He made thing very clear on what he wanted us to do. Assignments were easy and so were the quizzes. He is a very simple grader, as long as you do what you're suppose to do, you will get a good grade.
He is great
Great instructor. Clear instructions, clear grading criteria and is willing to work with you. Heavy on reading and listening to musical pieces but its actually pretty enjoyable once you get the hang of it. Would definitely take him again!
Took for music humanities, all assignments are posted day 1 and have clear grading instructions. Can only do poorly if you put zero effort
Professor Bricknell, is clear and precise to his class expectations. He provides weekly updates and the class is driven to the final exam. The only procrastination comes from your self. I would highly recommend a student to attempt his course with no musical background. If you read your material and complete what is expected you can earn an A.
Easy A, nice laid back class. Not a harsh grader at all.
Tests are easy. Just complete them along with the discussion boards on time and you'll pass.
great class good info
good class super easy
Class was fairly easy just a lot of discussions
Good teacher
He was very thorough every week for our assignments, lots of reading, easy tests, discussions were a little heavy but easily relatable. He also helped with the concert report and gave us an event that was going on that we could attend for our final report.
He is a very good person! I really enjoyed his class.
Best class ever
Mr. Bricknell is an awesome professor, I truly learned a lot!
H was very good at giving good feedback in the discussion post.
As long as you do your work as expected you should be fine.
very easy, very responsive, and an easy A if that's what your looking for. Just stay on top of the due dates an you will do fine.
He's a great teacher I just think its hard to think of 300 words for not such elaborate questions.
Prof Bricknell gave a very easy and informative class. As long as you read and you pay attention to the material, you'll do very well, especially if you have a genuine interest in music.
From day one he made it clear what he expected from us as students. He did not give us too much work or too little. If he saw the effort in our work then the grades were good. He made sure that his content was teachable as well as learn-able and I appreciate that.
Objectives and expectations were clearly communicated; Makes his online course as legit as it can possibly be; Read the syllabus, participate in the discussions, and stay on top of deadlines (late work is NOT accepted!)
When Taking MUL2010 online was interesting, however you would need to check Skyward everyday to make sure to dont miss a deadline, also to make sure to highlight, take notes and tab your textbook Itll help a lot for remembering for upcoming exams
This is an online class and it is very easy to follow and just do the assignments and you are good.
If your willing to do the work its an easy A.
Has given a lot of choices to experience what you are learning. Flexible and helpful when it comes to projects. Decent feedback whenever you turn in work.
Class is pretty much an easy A if you submit all work on time. I would recommend you plan ahead for final, you have to attend a live concert and write a report on it so don't wait till the last min!
I took an online course from Professor Bricknell. That course was fine but the work became a little repetitve as it was the same thing over and over every week. The good is that the work is always due the same time every week and it was never too difficult.
I took this class for an easy a but i was actually challenged. It was harder but worth it. I learned alot i didnt know before.
Great Professor! Discussion boards weekly, 3 test and a Concert Report.
I took this course as one of my general requirements and Professor Bricknell did a great job teaching it.
His grading is on point and he gives good feedback in each discussion you do. At the end of the semester he will give you a concert essay to do.
Would recomend!
The course discussions were a bit tedious. But over all the course is pretty simple.
I enjoy the class even though I haven't done as well as I hoped or expected, but that's more on me. If you read everything then you should be good when it comes to everything else. A bonus is that for your final paper, you have to attend a concert/symphony etc, so it's an excuse to have an experience.
Make sure your word count is right!
The class is pretty easy, and Professor Bricknell gives you plenty of time to complete the assignments. I would definitely take a class with Professor Bricknell again.
I dont have much experience with online classes but this course was enjoyable. I feel that I would have been more immersed in the material if I had been lectured to but that's just my preferred learning style. Overall a very interesting course. There are biweekly discussion boards with a few exams and his final project is a concert report.
Class was very easy, and had lots of discussions. You will defiantly need the book and make sure you take the Online test early and do not wait until the last moment.
I loved this class! I personally am into music so it was an easy class to take. There are discussion board every week.
He is a great professor! the work is easy and with taking the online class there is plenty of time in between assignments to do the work. Easy A.
Don't be late on assignments, he does not care what your reasoning is, you get an automatic zero.
Solid Professor, seems to care about the success of his students.
Do the work, study for the test, you will pass, not much homework
Easy class and great teacher. Stay on time with your work and you should get an A. 100% would take a class with him again.
The assignments are not hard to do and are well explained. Read the material and complete the assignments and you can get an A.
Read the textbook and you'll definitely not fail! You need to read the textbook for the exams, but don't really need to for the discussion posts. Final assignment (which is 30% of your grade) is attending a concert and writing a 500 word min essay. Would definitely take again, it was one of my classes that I really didn't have to worry about!
This professor tells you up front what he expects from his students. There isn't too much classwork, and he gives you creative freedom on a lot of writing prompts.
I took this music class online for humanities credits. His class is very easy, as long as you do the work and put the time in. 7 discussion boards, one paper, and 3 exams. These assignments are easy as long as you read the material. I would definitely take him again!
His passion for music show through his teaching. Great class!
Gave good advice for required finals project. Had a very good experience in this class.
Gives great feedback in a timely manner. Class is straight to the point. There is no late work accepted so making sure to get assignments in on time. As long as you stay on task and participate it is an easy class.
Best professor. i took this class online i really enjoyed it . Professor really cares for his student.
There isn't feedback on your discussions. I recommend using YouTube to listen to the music and save yourself the $100 connect card. There is a lot of reading but it was interesting. The one other thing that made me frustrated was that I paid to attend a concert for my report and after he made it a option to watch a YouTube concert. So i'm down $120
Overall he is a very good professor. He replies to emails very quickly and actually answers your questions. You must complete your assignments in order to pass, but that is with any professor. He follows the rubrics and is a fair grader. There is not a final, but will be a concert report. Tests are not hard and I learned a lot from this class.
Awesome class
This class isnt hard but it isnt easy, I came into this class thinking it would be an easy A and it isnt. You will most definitely have to read and do all homework but other than that the class is fine you have a discussion and test due every Sunday and then you have to attend a concert an the end for the final projects.
Great teacher. Enjoyed the class and learning about differs music in different cultures.
You must complete assignments to pass. There are 7 tests and 1 concert report. You must attend a live formal concert. I truly enjoyed the class.
This professor was amazing! Always responded to emails very quickly and was always there to help! You should definetly have him as a teacher! There is a lot of reading, but if you do it you are fine.
Just seemed unconcerned. Made a few posts and gave little feedback.
This class online was really simple! you have a discussion each week and 3 exams. The concert report at the end is worth most of your grade though, but is not difficult. Really learned a lot about music and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this class.
Easy grader... if you do the assignment, have the proper word count, and turn it in on time you'll get a 100. Only had a discussion due once a week, 3 tests total, and one final paper. PowerPoints are always clear and readily available. I'm not a great student but I aced this class.
No issues. Grading was fair and assignments were given detail instructions. Tests take around 1-1 1/2 hours to take so plan accordingly.
Very practical professor and only gives 3 exams and the rest are just discussions. offers extra credit and is not very nitt picky when it comes to grading.
Professor Bricknell was ABSOLUTELY awesome, I enjoyed his class more than what I thought I would. This was my first class I've taken online, so I was beyond nervous but if I had the chance I would do it all over again. Easy A and he is great with responding back within a good time period. Thank you so much Professor for an awesome semester !!!!
THIS IS THE BEST PROFESSOR! I did not know what to expect when signing up for a music class but I am glad I did and choose Professor Bricknell. This is a super easy class as long as you do the discussions on time and the word count which is 300 words. 3 exams throughout the whole course, I took this class as a 15-week course.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! His class is by far one of the best classes I have ever taken! You learn so much from him, and he 100% knows what he is talking about! TAKE HIS CLASS!
Professor Bricknell is an awesome instructor. There was 1 discussion board every 2 weeks and they were relatively opinion based but you will need to pay attention to terms in the textbook and make the discussion relevant to get full points. The test aren't extremely hard but you will need to study for them. I would recommend this professor.
As long as you follow the rubric and meet the word requirement you will do great.
Do the work that is assigned and you will get an easy A.
Great professor, easy A as long as you keep up with discussions and exams. Final project is a fun experience
Discussions every 2 weeks and exams. Final was a short concert report. For the report attend a concert! It was a new experience everyone should try. Not a very hard class but I did learn more about music and how it was integral throughout history.
Very easy A. Very easy grader with clear grading criteria. If you skim the text as a whole and read to the discussion questions you'll get full credit. Quizzes and exams are based on the material in the modules. This class is very straight forward. Another awesome thing is there is a week in between due dates so the workload is manageable.
Professor B is a real gem! Take his class you won't regret a single bit of it. Especially online. The questions that he chooses for his discussion topics are nicely aligned with the curriculum.
Do discussions and module tests and youll pass, easy class, and easy final.
Professor Bricknell was an Awesome professor . I have not taken many classes online but he made it so easy and was very clear and specific which helped a lot . As long as you do what is asked to do by the due date you will pass . Easy class
This class was simple and easy. Just do the assignments and pass!
I took this class online as a 7 week course, and even though I came in a little scared it was easy. A discussion is due every week and 3 exams and it only takes participation and willingness to do the work and you will pass. I would take this class again! The final exam is attending a live performance like a symphony and writing a short report.
fun and easy class would take this class again, a discussion is due every sunday.
Great music teacher. The syllabus explains everything and he responds within 24 hours. I didnt understand something so we texted a couple times to make sure we were on the same page
very straight forward class. Do the work and pass the class. very chill professor.
Discussions every week and a final project. Simple but time consuming.
Great teacher. Took the online course and basically just do the assignments and you'll do fine.
Easiest online class ever. Do the work and you pass
Easy A!!! A discussion every other week, a few exams, and a final project. My first online class was a breeze.
Very clear grading rubric, as long as you do the work that is assigned the way he says to do it you will pass easily
As long as you attend class and participate you will pass. Great class!
As long as you keep up with the weekly workload you will likely get an A. The online class required a lot of discussion board writing but nothing too crazy.
This was one of the most interesting classes Ive ever taken. It was online. Everything was clear and instructions were easy to understand.
Really enjoyed this class.
Easy A, just do what youre suppose to do and no Kate work.
It is a pretty simple. Do the assignments on time and you will pass.
discussions and quizzes and one report at the very end. The report is worth 300 points. If you study Quizlet for the test you will be fine. Discussion, you need to be honest and write what you think and respond to people. On a test, u cant go back to a question and they are timed. the total amount of points in the class is 1000.
If you enjoy a class that is self paced and taught you'll enjoy this class.
This was an online course so writing is expected. Reports and discussions were not needed to be ridiculously long, and as long as you review the chapter before writing you will be fine. If you do everything, and put in a bit of effort an A is not hard to obtain.
Really enjoyed learning about and listening to music from different cultures and time periods. Would definitely take this course again.
To be honest his class was pretty great. If you stay on top of the modules and that final you can take anytime, I think youll be fine.
Class was great, very easy online class, I got a B because I missed some assignments, completely my fault. Mostly just participate in the discussions, a couple of open book tests, and one 500 word paper at the end of class, easy.
Professor Bricknell Cares for his students and enjoys teaching!!
Very respected professor. As long as you do the work you will be fine. Hes very understanding as long as you communicate with him. Best professor ever for this class. Easy A!
Best professor ever! As long as you do the work you will be fine. If he sees your effort he will give you credit based off of that. Well respected professor I wish I could have him for all of my classes.
Due to Covid 19 we were unable to meet and interact. But through the suggestion of introduction and greeting participation initially for a grade, we got to share alot with each other and hopefully we'll be able to meet face to face another time. There was no stress, all it took was to listen to music, read assignments, and voice your opinion.
I really enjoyed this class because I didn't know much about music before but the book was easy to read and the discussion posts really made me think about what I was writing and learning. Professor Bricknell always graded everything fair and in a timely manor. Just turn your work in on time and read the grading guidelines to pass!
Great Class!
Be prepared for discussion questions/responses
His class had alot of discussions but our work was due every other week so we had time to complete the assignments
If you try and pay attention you will pass this class. Loved the concert assignment.
Great and easy class.
One of the toughest professor FSCJ has hired. Hes to closed minded for this opinionated class. He choose our genres for our assignments which made them difficult at times. He sucks at explaining and listening to different views and options. If this is a requirement stay away, if it is pick a new professor asap! He doesn't care.
He is a great teacher. Just do the work and you will pass with no problems. He is easy to communicate with as well.
WAS A REALLY FUN CLASS. I DID THE TOTALLY ONLINE VERSION. BE A SELF STARTER AND DO THE READING.
Great professor and easy A class! Discussion board every week and 3 exams with one paper.
I took this class online. If you do your work you will get an A. Grades very fairly and quickly.
His syllabus is very clear about what his expectations are. Professor Bricknell doesn't lectures he expects you to teach yourself, which is great for an online class. Read the book and do the weekly discussions and you'll have no problem getting an A out of this course. Fantastic professor, especially in an online setting.
great class with easy grading system.
Do your weekly discussions and you will pass!
not alot of assignments, but are weighed heavy but easy for the most part
This class is worth it. There is a discussion board every week & 3 exams throughout the class, which are all pretty easy. He has a final project, of attending a concert and doing a report, but due to COVID, he provided a concert to us to do a report on. He is defiantly strict with the word count on the discussions, but all together a simple class.
Cool dude
The class was pretty easy and engaging to be in. I would recommend to another student.
he is alright easy teacher easy grade..
This class was fairly easy, but I took it as a 7 week course. Because of that, there were only a handful of assignments and if you miss one discussion board, it can hurt your grade. Do all the work and read the instructions and you can pass. He grades fairly.
Solid professor. Answers questions quickly even outside of office hours. Made learning about music more interesting than I thought it would be.
Excellent Professor with quick feedback. However this course is best taken with a base knowledge of musical terminology and it also has quite a bit of reading.
I would definitely chose this professor over and over.
A great prof, very clear with anything he wants and helps to hit the goal.
I would definitely chose this professor over and over
Nice guy! Made the material interesrting
I took this class online so I cannot speak for his lectures. The class was not bad at all except for the tests. They are full of random questions from a large amount of reading. I would do my best to study but there was no study guide so it was rather difficult. Thankfully the discussions are fairly simple and the tests didn't destroy my grade.
I really enjoyed this class. Although there was a bit of reading, I still enjoyed it and learned a lot. Every week there was a discussion that helped to connect my class although we were online for the whole semester. The only regret I have is not renting a physical book as it would have made reading easier.
Great instructor. Thank You.
He is a great teacher, the class is relatively easy, you just need to put effort into learning. I urge you to take everything seriously, there's a discussion every week and an exam every other week. Final paper on 1h30min concert due by end of course. He was good at giving me feedback on assignments, but that's as far as we got in communication.
Professor Bricknell was a really good professor! He was very clear on what he expected from us. His assignments were fun and interesting that helped me learn more about music. I would definitely take him again!
To be honest I took this class because it was a requirement for me to have a humanities class. I chose this specific class because I love music and thought that I was going to learn more about it or at least about its effect on culture throughout history. That could not have been further from what happened for me with this course.
Great, would take again!
Complete discussions and exams on time, he doesn't accept late work unless discussed prior. 1 concert report for final paper. Super Easy Course !!!!!! Also pretty interesting modules with short readings.
Very easy class ! 7 Discussions , 3 exams and 1 final project! Easy to get an A.
Total class is worth 1,000 points. 300 of that is your final project, and another 300 is split up between three exams. Participate in the discussions and do those, and you will do absolutely fine. Easy A.
Awesome class! Easy A if you just do the work. Late work isn't accepted and extra credit at the end is offered. Overall, so glad I took him!
Professor Bricknell knows his stuff! If you need any help he's definitely willing to help! he responds to emails in a timely manner. All you have to do is read and listen to the music and you will pass! Discussions and two responses to classmates and the exams aren't proctored, so you can relax if you have test anxiety. Overall, a good teacher!
Pretty cool teacher, easy A
Easy going class. You will be able to earn an A as long as you do the work.
Professor Brick bells class was very easy. Only three exams then seven 300 word discussions. Final was 500 words. Gave us an opportunity for extra credit.
Very great professor! Had a chance for extra credit. Only 3 exams and 7 300 word discussions. Easy and great class.
took as a summer class. Class is pretty straighforward- each week a chapter discussion board, every other week an exam. He tells you right from the beginning of the class of the final project, so he doesn't tolerate late work. He is also very strict about the length of the discussion. I was 280/300 and got points taken. Overall, easy class
Do the work easy pass
professor B was a great teacher
I will definitely recommend this professor.
Simple class read the book do the assignment
If you follow the instructions you will Get a A. Be sure to read instructions carefully and read your textbook.
Make sure to do the work and put in the effort.
As long as you do all of the work youll be fine. Complete every 300 word discussion.
Turn all assignments in on time and you will be fine.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with Professor Bricknell. If you do the work you'll get a good grade.
Professor Bricknell is awesome! The class I took was all online and he has everything laid out where it is easy to understand! Read the material, participate in discussion posts and you will pass! Highly recommend!
Professor Bricknell responds quickly to emails, offers extra credit, and is a fast grader. Do the work and the required reading and you'll be fine.
Professor Bricknell truly invest in his students and what we are learning. He brings the music to life and you truly learn to appreciate music more than ever. He always responds quickly, and gives great feedback!
Professor Bricknell is an awesome teacher. He responds back to his students in a timely manner and he cares about us, it is not just a job to him.
Took 7 week course. Discussion every week(make sure you meet the 300 word limit or he will take points) and exam every other Textbook was like $80, a lot of reading (if you dont do the copy&paste and then search the document to answer questions). Final project is short report on a concert you choose to attend (easy) Not the easiest class, not hard
Read your textbook, be aware of grading and discussion criteria, and do your final paper and you are good to go. This class is an easy A. The final paper is written on a performance you attend and is, once again, an easy A. Professor is great about announcements and letting the class know what is expected of them each week.
Professor Bricknell was an overall great professor. He made his grading criteria very clear, so as long as you just do what he says to do you will have an easy A in this class. There's not too many assignments either, and he graded clearly and in a straightforward manner. Overall great class and would recommend.
I took this class as part of my humanities and it did not disappoint! If you are a person that loves and appreciates music get ready to learn and have fun in this class. Professor Bricknell was awesome, always answers emails and updated grades very quickly. Definitely recommend his class!
As long as you do the reading and turn in your work on time you will not have any problem getting an A. He doesn't expect you to be a supper great writer with perfect punctuation. He just wants to see you use the proper terms from the modules here in there in your discussions.
Professor Bricknell is great. Everything is explained thoroughly. I had no problems in this class. Everything I needed was in my book, and through class announcements. Would definitely take again if I didn't need intro to humanities next semester !!
Easy A+ if you turn in your work on time. No weekly lecture is required. Happy with the knowledge and class. Definitely would take it again.
He created such a great learning environment even with it being an online class. The only way to fail is to make yourself. He created the class for success.
Good class. If you do everything on time youre good.
Very fair grader and very clear and fair syllabus
Professor Bricknell is very professional in how he teaches. He responds quickly, usually within 24 hours, and gives excellent feedback. The work is easy but time-consuming, so this class requires a bit of planning if you want to submit the assignments on time. Overall, I would definitely recommend this professor and would take this class again.
Professor Bricknell was easy to reach. Gave great feedback, wanted all students to do well. Do the readings and discussions you will be fine.
As long as you submit your work on time you will be fine. You also do learn a lot and get to go to a concert and write a report about it.
This class was very clear and understanding when it came to the assignments due, and the professor was great with emailing you back and did a great job of letting you know about the final project. I would take this class again.
Take Professor Bricknell if you are interested in learning a lot about music theory and practice. I learned so much about musical terminology through the weekly readings and discussion posts. You will need to read if you want to do well in this course. Also, you should be aware that he does not accept late assignments and will not make exceptions.
This was one of my favorite classes. I learned a lot about music because each module offers a different period or type of music. There were also weekly discussions and a final paper which consists of attending an approved concert. He is a fair and involved teacher. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn more about music.
Professor Bricknell was amazing! The class consisted of 7 discussions, 3 exams and a final exam all to which were understandable and easy. I would recommend his class to anybody!
I just love Bricknell ! He is there to help and makes sure you understand the material . He updates everythign real time so you never fall behind . I would take him 100000 times again
You must see a musical play of some sort, but it is well worth it. If you just need an additional elective, this is a very easy class. 7 weeks online class.
Online course was well organized. Deliverables were evenly spaced. Communication was good.
Professor is absolutely great. Clear on what he expects from all students. He is very easy going and easy to get ahold of if you need anything at all. You can always expect a speedy response from the professor during the week. In 7 weeks, I only needed to reach out to him once. That is just a prime example of how clear his instructions are.
Professor Bricknell was very understanding of his student's time. He does not load you down in work. He made music very easy to understand. He is also very easy to reach through text or canvas. I would take anything with this teacher again.
Professor Bricknell was very communicative, very organized, and very fair in grading and amount of work. For the required concert report, he did a tremendous job at sharing free, local concerts.... I really appreciated that. I learned a lot and would take him again!
Do not turn in your assignments late, he will not give you any credit :)
Complete the readings, adhere to the rubric for discussions and complete all assignments, he is a fair grader.
Very Knowledgeable. This professor was clear with every instruction. I could follow the modules and all information he provided.
Professor was very clear from the beginning about the criteria and followed through all throughout the course. Highly recommend Prof for future students, you will not regret. Online course was straight forward and very little concerns with this class
Prof Bricknell is a great teacher. You'll mostly be doing discussion boards and listening to music the whole semester. The final project is attending a live concert which is great!
7-week class. He was very technical, no feedback on discussion posts besides a comment of "Your post has been graded by the rubric". He was a very easy prof with very few grades, tests are very easy if you google everything. I emailed him a couple of times and he got back to me pretty quickly. It just felt like a robot was in charge of this class.
He is a great Professor.
The class was completely online. Clear instructions in the beginning of what was expected. There were 7 Discussions, 3 Exams, and 1 Final Project which was attending a concert and writing a report. He grades quickly and even though I took the 7 week class, I had plenty of time to get things done. Book was online and was included with tuition.
This was a good music class. The discussion questions really made you think and do research. The quizzes were a little hard but not too bad if you study.
Prof. Bricknell was clear and specific on what to expect during the course. There is a significant amount of reading needed to pass the exams but totally achievable. Not a hard grader; overall a fantastic experience!
Had to take Music in Humanities to fulfill bachelor's graduation requirement. One of the best online humanities classes I've taken. The curriculum was easy to follow. Discussion posts were thought provoking, but not difficult. Highly recommended!
Professor Bricknell was a great professor being that the whole class was online, not face-to-face. The class was enjoyable and informative. He was understanding and helpful when you reached out to him.
He is a pretty chill dude. His class is easy if you do the reading. Would recommend.
Do the work and you'll pass his class. Does NOT except late work, however he says that from the beginning of the class.
Professor Bricknell was great! Gave clear expectations to what was expected during the entire term. Lots of reading involved. He is also replies to email pretty quickly too! Would recommend him to anyone!
Easy class
Professor Bricknell was amazing! Gives clear instructions on assignments and gives grades out pretty quickly! I would highly recommend taking his class!
I did not have any problems with MUL2010, everything went smooth and easy, thoroughly enjoyed attending a concert for the final report, and the discussions are thought provoking and engaging. Would recommend.
Professor Bricknell communicated all expectations clearly and I would definitely take another course taught by him.
He provided good details and explantions on how to complete the assignments and the way that it should be completed. The class was self explanatory and very easy to complete. Also, he was very good with communication. He would answer any questions in a timely manner.
Very quick to respond to emails and give feedback. I took the 7 week course so it was very condensed but still manageable.
Professor Bricknell truly cares about his students and if they pass his course. He is extremely passionate about this subject. Be prepared for a lot of discussions and readings but definitely my easiest A in college so far.
I took this class for my humanities credit and it was better than I thought it would be. There are a lot of 300 word min discussion boards, but that is the hardest part of this class.
Took online c7 class. Very few assignments. Weekly discussions are relatively easy, but there's nothing to guide you to know what to focus on when you read through over 300 pages of textbook for an exam. He is very quick and helpful when answering questions. Helps you find alternatives if you can't go to a real concert for the final project.
This was a c7 class. The work is easy but the discussion posts are 300 words minimum. There is a project where you have to attend a love concert but he was actually very helpful with helping us find free ones.
I truly enjoyed our Discussion boards.
Really easy class as long as you do the work and read the material. Fair grader. Don't turn in anything late though cause he will not accept it. But overall, great teacher, it was my fault I turned in something late anyways so cant blame him since its clear in syllabus. Not too much work and assignments are easy and straightforward.
Ryan Bricknell was great. He isn't overbearing, his instructions are clear and he is an easy grader overall. I would take him again for sure.
Very easy but well educational class. I learned a lot about music with this class. Overall, would definitely take him again if I had too. His grading was super easy, and he communicates well with his students. His tests and discussions are not bad you just have to do the reading.
Professor Bricknell was super nice! Not a ton of work, but you do have to attend a concert in person. However, I expressed to him that my dad passed away so I wouldn't be able to attend a concert and he made arrangements for me. Truly a great professor!
Since I enrolled in a 7-week online class with Professor Bricknell, I had a great time learning about music history and musical terminology. All assignments: 300-word discussion every week, three exams of 50 questions each and a 500-word concert report. Fair grader. Textbook included for free through McGraw Hill.
Overall, Professor Bricknell was very polite. He responds to emails quickly and is understanding. You will pass as long as you show up and do your work. Submit it on time with true intentions and you should be ok. He likes students to be enthusiastic about music in their writing and learn something new. Music terminology is a must.
Was a really fair and good professor if you enjoy music you will enjoy his teaching style just wasn't for me although if you are on the fence about him go for it he is a really sloid pick.
Professor Bricknell is amazing. Assignments are straight forward and clear. Each discussion question is different, which keeps the class very interesting. Although this is a music class and I imagined my experience been totally different, I actually learned lot about music and definitely sparked my interest in it. Would definitely take him again.
professor Bricknell is a very good professor if you ever need anything he will text back and actually help I don't have much to say but I definitely recommend him for his class.
Professor Bricknell is great! You know what to expect from his class and he gives great feedback on homework. There is a discussion post due every week, but they are not hard if you read the chapters. The fact that it is an online class makes it very flexible and I love that.
Professor Bricknell is a good professor, his class is easy to pass if you try.
Over all it was a pretty up front class, he responds to emails, it clear on want he expects
Overall professer was great! Make sure to submit work before sunday to avoid getting points deducted but pretty awesome teacher!
Doesn't except late work but assignments aren't difficult. I enjoyed the class.
Professor Bricknell runs a straightforward class. Assignments are manageable if you stay on top of them. UnstuckStudy AI and the free textbook were helpful for study prep.
He was a very awesome teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone who's interested in learning about music.
This is a class where if you are a self-learner and want to be learning Music in the Humanities by yourself you should take if you take the online version of it I suppose. He uses the discussion rubric to grade everything and doesn't give much feedback or comments as he only says "This has been graded by the rubric" in the feedback.
For a online class very smoothly run was given clear and concise directions to be successful in course.
I really enjoyed this class and Professor Bricknell was great, he just does not take any late work unless you let him know in advance so just beware of that! Other than that, the assignments were actually super fun and easy, and I enjoyed everything!
Pretty straightforward course. Keep up with the weekly reading and listening and you won't have a problem.
Mr. Bricknell creates a calming learning space. As long as you do the work there is no way you will fail. This online course was well organized and self explanatory.
great teacher / class . highly recommend
Great class and instructor! He's clear and organized, but be sure to submit your work a bit early to avoid losing points.
Great professor! Highly recommend him
I loved this class
Great professor and very knowledgeable
Easy and simple, even for someone lazy like me. Just do the work and it's hard to mess up.
Just know that you will most certainly have to do a lot of reading when it comes to the course material.
Overall his class was easy and I'd love to take it again!
Not hard, but not easy. Have to follow the grading rubric exactly and will do well.
I took him for one of my humanities credits. His class was super easy. There were only 3 tests in the entire class. If you read the content and do the work on time, you should be fine. There was no final exam or anything. On average, you should receive about 1-2 assignments weekly, but they are fairly easy.
Easy class for an elective. Not a lot of work(1-3 hours a week for a 7 week course) and I actually was pleasantly surprised by some of the things I learned. Easy A if you do the work, grading criteria is very clear and he grades very quickly.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed this class. Homework was all related to the reading as were the tests. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who needs a music credit.
Just turn your work in on-time and you will get a good grade. Homework is simple, assessments strictly follow the textbook, and the final fun/easy. Prof. Bricknell is a good one! I would recommend you take his class. I was B12 online btw.
Lowkey I didn't know much about music and most of the things did confuse me a lot but the exams and disscusions were related to the topic we were on. I liked the final project where you go to a concert which was an amazing experience since it was my first symphony that I went to, the project is basically just a report on your experience at it.
I really enjoyed this class! Professor Bricknell gives clear instructions and assignments were really simple. As long as you do the work you'll be fine, I took this class because I wanted a simple class for my second humanities requirement and I ended up really enjoying it.
I enjoyed this teacher a lot he was awesome and I learned a lot
Overall great professor. Make sure all work is turned in on time. You do have to read a lot of the textbook but it's interesting. The class has made me appreciate classical music a lot more. Discussion questions are due each week, and a few tests are due after so many chapters. I definitely recommend his class.
This was an online course. Professor Bricknell was awesome. He gave an announcement every week about what we were covering. He gave feedback on every assignment that we did and he told me what I was missing on the assignment. I would recommend taking his class when you have to.
Great professor, easy to do the work and all. Make sure you read the chapters and listen to the pieces it gives you. Make sure you got 300 words down!
THe class i took specifically was online, but overall it was pretty decent.
Very clear on his grading, do the work, listen to the music that is listed in each section, read the chapters, and you will easily get an A, I didn't know very much about music before I started the course. He is also pretty quick on responding to emails if you have a question, and very quick with grading after assignments are due. Would recommend!
Bricknell is a good professor! I took the 7 week online course and there wasn't a large workload. I would definitely take this professor again as everything was pretty straightforward. He does not accept any late work though so make sure to turn everything in on time!
Not a super hard class. No late work is accepted at all.
Bricknell is really a good professor! I am taking online course with him and I would definitely take this professor again. He is very straightforward and clear. Ohhh and he have a very simple policy, just make the works on their due time!
Easy class and I enjoyed taking it, also liked the teacher.
Professor Bricknell is very straight at to the point. Do the work an you'll get an A
Professor Bricknell was a great professor and he was very clear about what an assignment would entail. He also provided opportunities for extra credit if needed. Overall, I had a great experience in his class.
Interesting course! You will learn fundamental elements to music like melody, rhythm, harmony, texture and how they work independently/together to create a musical piece! In addition, the history, culture and the composers! I do have a greater appreciation for music and how I listen to it now! This course is "manageable!"
Choose a different professor if you need one who cares about his students. Otherwise, his class is easy overall.
Professor Bricknell has been an excellent online instructor. His readings and assignments are well-structured and easy to follow, with clear explanations and engaging content. Professor Bricknell creates a supportive learning environment that makes the online experience both effective and enjoyable!
Read the directions, put in the work and you'll get a good grade.
Professor Bricknell is very nice, he responds to questions fast and makes the class easy to take.
Great Class. I came knowing very little and leaving with a lot of knowledge.
I liked how organized this online class was. His instructions were crystal clear, and it never felt like I got lost. Just make sure to read the textbook and do the materials on time, and you're golden.
Prof Bricknell was very respectful of our times and planned the assignments evenly.
he is very simple to work with you just have to show up and do the work.
awesome teacher
Mr. Bricknell kindly permitted me to register for his course after the registration deadline. I am very grateful for his flexibility. I wasn't quite aware of what the course involved, however, I have developed a greater appreciation for music, as I now understand how it has evolved and been cultivated over the years.
Decent amount of work, but pretty straightforward. Directions written super clearly and precise.
Good teacher overall. He's fair and organized but strict about deadlines. He does not accept late work unless you tell him in advance. He answers emails and communicates well. The homework load is decent, not too much, but enough to keep you learning.
Mr. Bricknell provides clear instruction of assignment expectations and material. There's no confusion. He assigns a manageable amount of homework. The assignments were interesting and engaging. He is easy to communicate with. I would definitely enjoy him as an instructor again.
With a fulltime class schedule I was able to complete textbook reading and assignments with little stress. Most of the work is written discussions and papers, but they require more thoughtfulness over word count. The tests are difficult because the textbook is info overload. Each test covers several chapters, each one being 50 - 100 pages long.
The material we reviewed ended up being surprisingly enlightening. The course was mostly self paced with weekly musical pieces to review and discuss. That structure made it easy to keep up while still learning a lot from each assignment. Professor Bricknell was available whenever there was a question or concern.
This class encourages you to think about what you desire about music and asks you to be open to other styles. If you need a humanities credit, I encourage you to take this class, it is fun!
Expectations were clearly laid out in the syllabus. Fully online course. Lots of reading, however subject matter was interesting and all materials were available online. Assignments were not difficult. Do the work and you'll get a good grade.
Professor Bricknell was one of the best professors I've had at FSCJ. His expectations are clearly listed in the syllabus and his work load is super easy as long as you pay attention and complete the readings. I really enjoyed his class. Definitely take him if you can!!
Attentive professor. If you have questions, he is there to answer them promptly. Easy going when it came to the workload and clear grading criteria.
very good teaching methods
There are 7 discussion boards and 3 critiques with a 300 word requirement. The discussion boards requires responses. All of the assignments require you to read the online textbook, so I wouldn't recommend waiting until last minute. Overall, the professor was active and graded things the next day. I got A's in all of the assignments I didn't rush.
The assignment due dates were well spaced out and graded quickly. Teacher answered questions and participated in discussions. Appreciated this class and teacher a lot!
Assignments spaced out fairly and graded quick.
Very clear and concise directions and expectations for each assignment. Mainly standard discussion boards, some essays, and unproctored tests.
I actually enjoyed taking this class. Professor Bricknell was very clear with assignments and expectations just follow along with your modules. It was very easy to stay ahead with plenty amount of time to finish assignments test.
As long as you do the work you will get the grade. I wouldn't say the course is all that difficult, but he gives good feedback and a pretty easy grader. He's very reasonable and the course was very interesting. 10000000% would take again.
Professor Ryan Bricknell was a pretty easy professor to complete assignments for. He is a fairly easy grader; I would recommend for students taking his course to always type assignments before submitting them to be graded with ease. I greatly appreciate Professor Bricknell offering his students extra credit at the end of the course.
Great professor
Bricknell is super easy. I took a 7 week course and honestly wasn't that much work he doesn't accept any late work and he's an easy grader
I recommend Bricknell to anyone! He was awesome and super easy and had a lot of fun assignments. Just do your part and you will receive a good grade.
Great class and professor!
Be prepared to write 300 words minimum for discussion answers. Takes off a lot of points if you don't meet that one requirement. Doesn't allow late work so missing even one assignment will screw up your grade. Grading is quick but feedback isn't helpful.
