Midterms are frustratingly difficult and long, he always chooses the HARDEST challenge q's at the end of each section. Often makes mistakes during lectures. He is nice, but is not a good professor. He is a smart guy who does great at explaining any problems that you have in office hours. The lectures are a bit hard to follow, but when looking at the notes later you can understand it. Dr. Budney, while being very kind, unfortunately, does not know how to teach. The lectures were disorganized and extremely hard to follow.Dr. Budney showed up to class unprepared and without a lesson plan. The midterms felt completely unrelated to course material which left me and my peers confused and discouraged.

Budney was very confused in a lot of lectures. Lecture content was just proving theorems, and wasn't super helpful for assignments. He sent out zero information about the 55% final and did not respond to email inquiries. Only plus was his grading on the assignments was quite generous. Class average was 64%.

After two weeks i stopped showing up to the lectures cuz literally watching youtube videos was more informative. I got lucky cuz my high school calc teacher was awesome so i didn't have a problem missing lecs but for anyone who isn't confident prior to taking this course, STEER CLEAR of this dude. Calc 1 is too simple for him to teach effectively.

Dr. Budney is terrible at teaching. I have gone to lectures of his on topics I already knew and still left confused. His teaching is blisteringly fast and full of random tangents, and as a result his lectures are bordering on useless for learning anything. Despite this, he grades as though he's the best teacher on campus. Stay away at all costs

Ryan has dry lectures that are hard to follow, and often goes on tangents that take up most of a class and do not contribute to learning. The final exam was purely homework questions, but he graded much more harshly than the assignment grader, so the average grade in the course dropped about 20% after the final. Office hours are unhelpful. Avoid!

Ryan doesn't make any sense in class, he himself gets lost and confused. If this class wasn't mandatory for me I would have 100% avoided taking it. The marking in this class is super unfair with a final exam worth 55% which is just exact assignment questions just marked WAY more harshly. Was doing so good in this class until the final exam.

He sold old tests with solutions through his grad students to line his pockets with cash preying on the anxiety filled students. As most people here have pointed out his head is to far in the clouds to teach effectively, constantly going though proofs that just confuse you. Oh yeah and he talked about his divorce before a test, very awkward. AVOID.

I left his lectures more confused then when I came in. Spends the time doing unescssary confusing proofs without actually teaching. When he does examples he does them really quickly without explaining anything. I started going to a different profs lecture and it was much better.

Really lovely man. Lectures were all over the place and not worth going. Much easier to teach yourself.

The only reason I succeeded in this course was because I did well in calc 12 and I had notes and my workbook to refer to. The lectures are impossible to follow because he goes on tangents about previous student taking down meth labs. Because a different prof makes the homework for this course it is crucial to attend a different profs office hours.
