Button always made us laugh during his Minorities Studys class and his lectures/resources (videos, songs, stories) helped me retain the information he was feeding us. I learned a lot about the structure of our nation and world market in this class through the eyes of minorities. I got exactly what I expected and more from this class!

Prof. Button has helped change my view not only on how a class should be taught,but also on how I live my own life. He would prefer to not take grades at all,and just supply the information within his mindblowin lectures,but the online portion is mandatory. It's worth it though,he is the best teacher I have ever had and probably ever will. Take it.

Professor Button is very knowledgeable and very active with his students but in a good way. He helps the class relax so there is the right amount of interaction. Button was an amazing professor!! While attendance is not "mandatory" I would highly recommend going! As long as you read the textbook for the quizzes and tests, it is very easy to make an A. The class is only boring if you sit on your phone the whole time, try and participate! Button is passionate about his subject and not your average teacher!

Unlike some of the other instructors who tried to be loud and obnoxious for the sake of getting attention, Mr. Button really did do his best to make sure we're following and understanding the subject. He's the right guy who does what he does best and it really did pay off. I really did enjoy my time and am glad that I made the right choice.

Ryan Button is one of this proffesors you remember all your life. He will make experiments, demostrations, hilarious jokes (what ever it takes)with the only purpose of making us realize the world in where we live, teaching us how society truly works and giving us the necessary weapons to start fighting against the injustices of society.

I'm writing this rating for Professor Button's Colloquium class. It sucks, flat out, and it doesn't count as credit for anything. Literally! Button is an amazing professor, but you won't learn anything important from this class. Most of the readings you read all year are usually not understandable. The paper is terribly confusing.

This professor and class was my up most favorite college course so far. The class is very upfront and will discuss uncomfortable topic (modern day slavery/ war on drugs/society) .So this class isnt for everyone, but it you like it you will love it .

He is a great teacher and challenges the norms that you know and have come accustom to. He by far has made this my favorite class. If you are a free- thinker or need a class for a elective then i would highly recommend this class you will not be disappointed. Show up to class and do the work online and its a easy grade.

This class has been one of the most eye opening classes I have ever taken. I cannot put it into words. The only thing I can say is Dr. Button is a 500 lbs telepathic Gorilla. :) The class has A LOT of work in it, but it is all very rewarding. It's almost like a choose your own adventure. Tons of homework, readings, and out of class assignments.

He really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. his class is mostly lectures that are interesting. the grades consists of tests that you take online over the text book material. they are somewhat difficult but they are open book and he is helpful if you need it. Amazing professors! The quizzes are easy, and you can use the book. I took this class as honors, and I rarely worried about my grade. Be ready to write easy book reviews! If you are a honors freshman take this class alongside Learning Frameworks because that class helps you with a research project you have to turn in for this class as well.

I dropped this course because I was failing, and he let me back. He worked things out with me so I could stay in the class and succeed.

The classroom is so much more than the grades. To get the grades, you will have to read the chapter assigned , and you will have to know it well, but as long as you keep up with it every week, it is perfectly fine. In the classroom, there are lots of deep questions and participation of the class. There is a lot Ive leaned just from listening.

You'll have an online quiz every week and exam every 3 weeks. You have to buy the book and actually read it. The lectures are very informative and he offers a lot of extra points if you attend class. I took honors class. Didn't like Button as a person but he is a great teacher. He covers some interesting subjects, gives us good books to read, and does social experiments in class. U have 2 read chapters to take quizzes and there is a lot of graded note-taking on chapters. He is connected to Honors program and helps give community service credits

Dr. Button was a great professor. I'd definitely take him again. He has so many great things to say and teach he's awesome. Some videos he shows in class are a bit boring though. The class goes by super fast, I'd recommend him for a summer class. Definitely will open ur eyes to the "real" world and make you see differently like cow.

The easiest online class I have taken at TJC. 90% of your grade came off chapter quizzes that not only you take multiple times but also that comes directly from the textbook's test bank. 10% of your grade was a mickey mouse 2 page HIV/AIDS paper with two graphs and a reference page. Highly recommend taking online, especially during this pandemic.

Math has always been my least favorite subject in school. So when I heard I had to take Stats for PSYC, I was not looking forward to it. I was nervous & thought I was going to struggle. I was so wrong! Prof. Button was absolutely wonderful. He is one of the BEST Professors at TJC. He cares & wants you to succeed. I now love Statistics b/c of him!!

He's intentional and connects to a students fears or anxiety over course material. He's also honest and relatable in both conversation and examples given in class. Another thing is his thoughts on the course are well put together and communicated to a very understandable level

I had Button for Stat Methods in Psychology. The math part wasn't too bad. He did a good job of reviewing the math steps and problems in class. However, the quizzes (we used Pearson) did not quiz much on the math part but more on comprehension. Really nice teacher though. Really cares for his students. Read the book, go to class and you will pass

I took his summer sociology class and he is by far one of the best professors. Instead of making you cram information so youll forget it he tells you stories about real things that you will always remember. He is a very nice guy and is always willing to help his students. You grade is made up from online quizzes, 4 exams, and attendance. Each exam questions come directly from the quizzes which make it super easy. For the overall lecture portion of the class he is very eye opening to what is actually happening in the world around you, and genuinely wants you to be able to understand every social concept very easily.

Great professor! I would take another of his classes again. Class is relaxed and very informative. He does not teach by using boring textbook information but rather he goes into depth in important ideas that will help in the long run. By the last month he will start showing documentaries that will blow your mind. Overall great class great professor

Professor Button is great at teaching the material in class and includes ideas outside of the textbook. He really encourages group discussion and questions. He connects with students and is respectful and openminded. He likes the students to guide the class and interact with new ideas. Taking meaningful notes over the material is very important.

Dr. Button was such a good professor, he made sure we understood the lectures. He also went into depth about the stuff we learned. Attendance is mandatory!

Button is an outstanding professor. Seeing him give us the sociology side to social psychology is truly something to behold. PSYC-2319 is unlike intro to sociology in so many ways because alongside Button there is also Selman giving us the psychological side of things. This class is unlike any class you'll take at TJC and I highly recommend it!

Professor Button (along with Professor Selman) made an excellent class. Their great chemistry makes for some of the best discussions I've had in any psychology class, both for education and food for thought. There wasn't a single moment I was bored taking this class.

You learn so much more then you think you would going into the class. attendance is a part of your grade, so just show up. I never even wanted to skip this class!

This professor was amazing! There are multiple assignments a week that are not too hard. The main quizzes on there replace actual exams. One thing, you will not get through this class if you do not have an open mind. Come in with an open mind and be prepared to think differently.

Mr. Button is a very chill teacher but he can be serious at times too . This class will make you cringe , make you sad , angry but you learn a lot . Attendance is a big part of your grade so show up!! Mr.Button is very good at his job . Everyday he always give 110% into his job.

Attendance is counted as a grade, the class is interesting and not all that hard so no need to skip. Assignment are in the book online, chapter quizzes and knowledge checks. I would register to take more of his classes in the future.

You should be open minded when taking his class. He lays out the basics that you need to know, and will only dig deeper into topics if the class wants to learn more. Provides amazing and very eye opening documentaries that help you comprehend the material that he wants you to learn.

The book is an online book and all the quizzes are in the book. The quizzes are small and you answer them in the text as you go. The class is amazing. Dr. Button is by far the best teacher I have ever had. He honestly cares that you understand the material. I didnt think it was possible for me to want to go to an 8am class.

Buy the book as soon as class starts. Lecture is 100% about educating and opening your mind, but homework is 100% reading the book and almost all of your grade. Button is very knowledgeable and passionate who wants to make his classes think differently.

Dr. Button is amazing. He is not un patriotic, he tries to teach this class without being biased. Make sure you stay up to date on your book if not you wont make it. Make sure you come to class, not only do you get graded but you get extra points if you watch a film. The class is conversation driven.

If you take this class you need to have an open mind. He will definitely make you question the world as a whole. One thing that I would say is to keep up with your chapter homework. They're quite easy but if you don't do them it will bring your grade down. Attending class isn't mandatory but attending will help you because he will give points out.

He doesn't like a quiet class room, he wants you to ask questions and to think. I very much enjoyed this class and would take him again if I need more sociology classes.

Dr. Button is a very up beat and fantastic person. He goes the extra mile if you put in the work. Lectures have nothing to do with the book, but dont get behind on the reading because its a major part of the grade. Extra credit on days when a documentary is shown. ATTENDANCE MATTERS!!!

Dr. Button is the best example I've seen of what separates a good K-12 teacher from a good college proffesor. Instead of being a dominant but encouraging benevolent tyrant, his class is a mutual collaboration. While he provides a framework for students and shepherds discussion, the students also have significant leverage and dissent is encouraged.

This was my first time having Dr. Button for a class but he was a really good professor. He has you do notes over the chapters you are about to cover in class but they aren't hard to do at all. Overall he was a really good professor.

We did notes in class and he would grade them. They were not difficult at all and they were set where you had plenty of time to do them. Would 100% take another class with him!

It was one of the only classes that attendance wasn't mandatory and I still wanted to come every day. Nothing Ryan taught us could be learned from a textbook, it was real, and you can apply anything he said to how you live your life and the way others do to.

Makes you think about social issues around you. The class assignments are in the textbook. You basically read a couple of pages and answer questions through knowledge checks. Class are not really lectures, more like class discussions, but he still manages to find a way to blow your mind at the end. Class makes you see the world differently.

This is the first class I have had with two professors. Button/Selman are amazing. The class is Social Psychology. Button represents sociology and Selman is our Psychology Professor. It's like taking a class where two great minds with different perspectives are trying to find a deeper understanding and you get to be apart of the conversation.

Never have I been able to connect, and relate myself to a professor more than this one. He cares about each and everyone of his students down to a personal level. The class will open your eyes to a completely new understanding about life. You will feel uncomfortable about the topics that are class at first, but if you have to be open to change.

True understanding of the world comes from the willingness to sit and learn and take in knowledge uninterrupted. Please take this class. Please have an open mind and be willing to learn and this class will change your perception of how the world works in the best way possible. Thank you to Ryan Button. Dr. Button does a superb job conveying just what socialism is! Be prepared to really immerse yourself into the various educational videos, take notes, and discuss the topics. This was a wholesome class, that really opened my eyes to our world! 10 out of 10 recommend!

There is a ton of course work. The book is electronic and you have to take mini quizzes over each section. It is like a textbook/workbook Basically you have to read the book. The lectures are awesome. You get to see the world through a new set of eyes. Button is by far the best instructor I have had in college. Noone even comes close.

He loves his daughter and loves teaching her how to live life with victory. Very serious when it is caused to be. Dry sense of humor but has humor. Loves peanut butter.

I would tell myself to not be afraid of talking even if I was going to be wrong, because Mr. Button would tell me I am wrong but then guide my thinking to see what I was missing so I can come to my own conclusion.

For anybody going into his class I recommend taking good notes on all of the great documentaries he shares with you and DO THE CHAPTERS for the homework early! The most important thing to keep in mind for this class, is to keep an open mind. You will be challenged in your ideas, so you should be ready for that. Other then that, all you need to do is show up to class and turn assignments in on time and you will get a good grade

There will be many online assignments, and it makes you write notes during class. Easy class!

Read the chapter and do the quizzes. Come to class and take notes over videos and lectures. We get to choose which videos we watch at the end of the semester. Discuss the videos in groups. All of this is graded. Dr. Button managed to create the best class that I have ever taken. This class felt like college

This class has in class discussions, which I find makes the class go by very fast, would absolutely recommend taking this class, especially if you planing on staying in America.

he's a great character and person, and is engaging, but you gotta be ready to pay attention and engage in his lectures. his textbook work is not that hard, but it is a lot each week. attendance is very recommended because if you miss out on one day and you missed out on important concepts explained in his lectures. overal love this guy, 10/10!!!

The most work you'll get is the textbooks, but they're simple and short. I would definitely take this class again and recommend this class to everyone!

Truthfully the best teacher I've ever had. I have issues zoning out a lot and I never did in his class because he made every class interesting. Make sure to show up to every class because sometimes he will just hand out full credit for just showing up.
