it is impossible to pass his test
makes tests out of word problems
Test are't that hard if you did and understud ALL the homework b/c the some of the problems form the homework. He grades very easy if you realize it or not.. Not that bad of a teacher...
Test are horrific!! I passed, but with a D. Only take him if you are good at math. Other than his teaching, he is a great guy. Fun class, but not good for learning anything.
Horrible teacher. If you struggle in math do not take him. his tests are very hard and he is not clear when he teaches.
He is willing to help outside of class. He's blunt and thinks he's funny. Just go along with it and you'll be fine. Test are not that bad. You just have to look over your notes. grades test easy
Teacher rocks! Does everything in his power to help you understand, will even take time outside of class to help you. If you don't make a good grade in his class it's because you did not ask for help! math isn't easy for me, but i understand it better than i ever have.
Anybody who says hes hard did not take advantage of him. He will help any student who ask for it, and will do your Web-Assigns with you if you need the extra help. Is a very funny, down to earth teacher and interacts well with students. I made a D because im bad at math no matter who teachs. I suggest TAKE HIM
I took him for a night week class last semester. It is alot of info to absorb in such a short time but he is very helpful. Even let us take the first test over because the grades were so bad. I can not say if he explains mat very well because I suck at math but did end up with a B. Tests were fairly difficult but can be passed with study. Will he
He was very helpful and explained the material in different ways. Tests are kind of difficult and he gives a lot of homework and quizzes, but he wasn't that hard overall. This man was a trip, he gave crazy non-math bonus questions on tests, like "name this song" and "what movie is this from."
Very laid back, but moves at a fast pace. He is hard to follow in class.
I have read what other people have said about him and this was nothing like my class. This Guy has a DRY sence of humor. He gives out lots of homework. His tests are extremely hard. And that was about it. We had 1 quiz, 2 HW picked up and 4 tests. He never gave any simpathy when the class average was a 41. Never reviewed the test. Horrible teacher!
he is a cool dude
Cool guy.very laid back but is a super math genius and thinks your one too.Moves too fast and makes test too long.I have never finished a test.
great teacher
I hate this class!! he moves tooo fast and his test are horrible do not take him what ever you do DON'T!!
This class isn't easy, and it is really difficult. Be prepared to work for your grade in this class. He is exrememly helpful, and go out of his way to help you, but he does move very fast in this course, USE HIS OFFICE, he gets bored easily up there so go visit him!
He's pretty chill, and breaks the material down for you if you ask him to, otherwise he'll move on to the next thing. Don't be afraid to ask a question if you have them.
Probably the worst teach I've ever had. He gets off topic way too much, and he makes you feel stupid when you ask questions. His tests are Impossible, and they only points you have in the class are Test points. He sucks at grading too. He's a graduate from Walker High and you can definately tell. DONT TAKE HIM!!
funny
He's really funny and gets involved with the students. You should probably have a good understanding of algebra II before you take his class. He's a very good teacher. He can answer any math question. All of the homework, quiz, and test are online. That makes it a little difficult, but this class is not hard to pass.
he is very easy. you don't even have to go to class since it's online anyway. i strongly recommend him. he explains very well and he's hot!!!
this dude is AWESOME. i suck at math and he explains if you don't get it. all work is online, but going to class is still important and def. worth it. talk to him and he'll love you. he said my class was his fave this semester because we interacted with him more than any other class.
good teacher, willing to help, and makes class fun.
moves way too fast!
this teacher was really kidda fun. he made class fun, tired to loosen the mood. he was very helpful and be sure to go to class and always GET YOUR LAB HOURS. it helps in the end. over all i liked this class.
he was still hard even though i did go to math lab and a tutor...his tests are somewhat irrelavent to the class lecture...he's not a good teacher
He's a really cool guy. He does plenty of examples on the board. Yes, he gives homework every class...actually do the homework and you'll understand it cause he goes over questions. He's funny..talk to him and you'll be a favorite
the class itself was not that fun, i felt like he went really fast and i never completely understood everthing. i mostly taught myself it off the computer. he is an overall nice guy though, pretty funny, sortof cheesy though!
Not a bad class at all; he's a good teacher. Since this course is now computer based, you'll end up teaching yourself how to do some of the different problems that you didn't go over in class. It's not too difficult. Do all of the homework and quizzes, and actually study/do the practice test until you get a decent grade.
He's a cool teacher, kinda strict but he knows what he's talking about. He's kinda a jerk but he's really just joking around usually. I absolutely hate math but enjoyed his class. If you have the chance to take a regular class instead of the computer based one so it, cause the computer kind of allows you to be lazy and bomb the tests.
I hated math but he made it interesting. He is extremely helpful, will go out of his way to meet with you. He gives homework every class but it really helps if you do it and occasionally collects as a quiz grade. He is really nice and likes to joke around.I highly recommend him.
Very thorough with the material taught, and helps students who may need clarification.
He really is a wonderfull teacher....He goes out of his way to help u understand....he checks on u and makes sure u are doing ur work...great teacher!
He was a terrible teacher. He talks to much. He really doesn't stay on topic. I had to drop. He is extremely hard and picky on test. He takes off for everything. He has favorites that he helps more. There is alot of homework.
This guy really cares. He is smart and enjoys math. He did so much on the board and even took practice test with us for each test, he is very helpful. He could be sarcastic but he was mostly funny.. he likes to joke. I hate math and I really enjoyed this class. I'd recommend him.
Awesome teacher. He really helped me out in every way. He likes to joke in class but still teaches you what u need to know. I would recommend him to anyone
Great teacher. I would recommed him to anyone. He was really helpful. He made jokes, but made sure the class understood the material. I was will to help. TAKE HIM!
He's a nice man & he makes jokes a lot. Although, coming from a student that has always had trouble with math but passed Math92 with a B...he's one of the most confusing, unorganized, and rushed teachers I've ever had. When he goes over homework/practice tests, he always says "Oh that's real easy," or "Y'all know this!"
I went from the comp. based 161 to a reg. math class, which was an adjustment in itself. He was really hard to understand at first, because he kind of sounded like a book. Once I caught on though, it was a lot easier. He's also really helpful as long as you let him know that you don't understand.
horrible teacher. he's like a child. he doesnt know what he is talking about. the class in general sucked and he didnt help to make it better. i would NEVER take him again.
Don't waste your time on this guy. I had a lot of trouble in Math & he was no help at all. He flew through the material without taking the time to explain it properly. It left me lost, confused, & uninterested. He made comments like "You should know this already", but it was my first time taking Math in about four years so of course I knew nothing.
Best Math teacher EVER! Patient, understanding, willing to take the time to explain it until you understand it - and HOT!!! Makes class so much better :)
Ryan knows his math. He is fast paced but is willing to slow down when needed. He cares about his students and their success in the class. It's hard to fail his class but also difficult to make an A. If you have trouble in basic math, don't take his class. If you know your math, then take his class!!! He is funny and smart!
This teacher was so rude and he never helped me even when I would raise my hand and say I didn't understand. Then he would draw attention to me and make a spectacle out of me to make me feel even more dumb. Avoid him.
Well he is a great teacher. Gives tons of examples in class and gets people to work them out in front of the class so that everyone has a chance to learn. The computer system thing isn't entirely sucky though it's not really easy either. Math lab is helpful though. Study HARD for the final. it's the worth part of this class.
I pretty much gave up on math.. i failed it 2 times before and thought it was impossible.. i took Ryan for summer 2010 and he was amazing.. if you have a hard time he will help you out if you ask for it.. the class is long but he takes a break so you dont get overwhelmed.. math is stressful but he made it not so bad!! I would recommend him 100%!
I LOVE HIM :) The most awesome and funny and interesting and sexy teacher I've ever met!
He keeps class fun and is always cracking jokes to lighten the mood. He is always ready to answer questions. He can be kinda intemidating at first but he grows on you! I would recomend him in a heartbeat. He looks like Nicholas Cage!! lol
Your search stops here! There is no better way to teach math then he does. He connects with everyone and jokes a lot but that just makes the class less stressful. The only problem I would see in this course is not the teacher but you doing your own part: MATH LAB. :)
Best teacher ever, very clear and goes slow through the material so everyone understands. Awesome teacher.
He was AWESOME! I was not very strong in math, but he made math easy! Explains things very well. Keeps the class interesting! He's just a simple kind of guy that you tend to just like. Great personality. Loved him!!! I would def take him again, and if you should too !!!
He's so much fun. He is a cool guy who keeps you interested.
Very willing to help if you are having trouble with anything. He moves semi quickly through the material, but ensures that you understand it before moving on. He will stop the class and slow down, or see you separately if you need extra help. Highly recommended :)
Best math teacher anyone could ask for! Soo helpful and made the material very easy to learn. I could not have asked for a better math teacher as a beginning freshman! Dutsch is the BOMB !!! Take him, you won't regret it. I promise.
He was ok. Math is not my strongest subject so I wasn't looking forward to this class. But try and get 100% on all your HWs & quizzes!
He's helpful when you go to his office, but not too helpful at asking questions in class because he tries to cover so much in one class to sty on track. Test are sometimes like study guide but not always. Doesn't curve grades or really drop any grades. Also don't offer much graded homework or quizzes. Gives out homework but its up to you to do it.
He's a really chill guy. This was his first semester teaching stats in a while and it showed a bit. He was a little unorganized but by the end he got much better. Not a lot of homework or any dropped grades so do well on your test. Don't put off studying till the night before. It's alot of material but it isn't difficult if you put the time in
i like this guy. he's a down to earth dude. he reminds me of someone who used to be a coach but is now teaching math. he knows his stuff though and explains VERY clearly and simply. its obvious he cares about his students and goes out of his way to make sure you're understanding. he likes to joke around. i'd definitely take him again.
I hated this class. He was terrible and unorganized and rude to his students. His tests don't reflect his study guides or his notes. If you can avoid taking him do so. Worst teacher ever.
Ok class, pretty confusing cause he moves so fast.
Cool guy, pretty dry. Can be taken as rude sometimes. He was very unclear with what he expected of students, and when the whole class wouldn't get something, he would get frustrated and rude. His grading scale is totally ridiculous and stupid. Had an A in the class until the final that was totally unlike the other tests previously taken. OK I guess
such a nice laid back guy.. really helpful, will sit down with you and make material more clear in math lab or at his office. you can tell he enjoys teaching. math is never easy if it isn't your strongest subject, but having a helpful professor always makes the course go more smooth. would take him again! and you need to go to class to keep up.
its math 161, your professor doesn't really matter a whole lot with the class being computer based, but he will go out of his way to help you and make sure you understand if you let him know. He cant really effect your grade bcuz the entire class is basically online but he will help you the best he can.
Cool guy, can be taken as rude sometimes. He gave 4 writing assignments that I thought were asinine they did not help what so ever it was just busy extra work that I didn't have time for. He gave practice tests and the answers and there were 4 tests. The computer work is non sense because he doesn't even use it or know what's on it.
DO NOT TAKE RYAN. HE IS AWEFUL.
If you like a good GPA, stay away from Ryan.
I'll start by saying, he is a great guy! Funny, laid back, but not the best teacher. He understands calc so much that, he thinks we do too. Very blunt. Notes are very unorganized, get a tutor, youtube vids, anything you can do to help yourself. Does give opportunities to pull up grade. Tests are repetitive
I feel like I had a different teacher than previous people described. He is a great teacher, a cool guy, will help you any way you can, gives a bonus question on each test and gives many quizzes that are super easy. Four tests and a final. I would take him again if the opportunity arises.
This guy cannot teach. Don't get me wrong he is a funny laid back guy but his teaching is fast paced and he skips over important steps while explaining how to work on problems because he assumes you already know it. Avoid him.
easy class. makes class interesting. funny. will call you out.
He is really relaxed and funny, but he also really cares about your grades. He is always willing for you to go to him for help during his office hours and is very helpful. the tests are a bit tough, but he is always very clear about what to expect on the test. Just pay attention in class and study and you'll do fine in his class!
Great teacher! Goes a little fast (bc it was a 90min class), but if you don't understand he will slow down and explain it. You def don't want to skip class bc you will miss an entire lesson. Great guy, funny, def makes you laugh every class period. All the homework, and tests are done on computer. Have to have a certain amount of hours in math lab.
I'm reading these postive feed backs about this guy. but they aren't for his statistics 241 class. If you are thinking about taking him for statistics DON'T he's probably worst statistics teacher in the world. The average grade is that class water a 60%. He does not need to be teaching statistics.
Good teacher but can come off sorta rude sometimes. His notes aren't the best and I learn more by teaching myself rather than having him show me since he makes everything 10x harder than it should be.
Took this class for Stats 241 last fall... worst mistake. Notes were unclear but i studied a lot and practiced. I understood the material in class and the homework but the test were COMPLETELY different. He said test came from HW assignments but I didn't find that accurate. No matter how much I studied I still did not pass this class.
His tests do not match up to the notes at all. He claims it's easy and will talk down to you. Do not take.
He's great as an person but a horrible teacher he confused the heck out of me
The homework/quizzes are from connectmath, it's long & unhelpful. He says if you want to do well you shouldn't rely just on that, do some problems in the text. I had to reteach myself most bc the online work didnt help & he was always moved quickly. he's funny but can come off as rude. He talked during the 1st 15 mins of my 1st test. DONT TAKE HIM
Very funny. Classes go by very quickly so if you miss one you're behind. He doesn't really like to re-explain anything. Tests are hard but if you pay attention in class and do you connectmath assignments then you should pass.
Ryan is not exactly your ideal teacher. He is super blunt, and during the first class you'll probably be thinking "I'm not going to like this guy". You definitely have to put in the work if you want a good grade. He does not review bc he doesn't believe in it. He is a tough grader. This is a class you truly have to understand it or you'll fail :(
He is a tough grader but he tells you what he wants and you know exactly what to expect. His reviews are all about you so don't be afraid to ask questions. Many students take this class and give him bad reviews because they don't ask question. Makes sure you can do the work by hand, he lets you have a formula sheet front and back for the test.
This is the only math class I've made above a C in. He lets you have a cheat sheet for the 4 tests then gives them all back to you for the cumulative final. Make sure you fill out the guided notes - they're easy to do and very helpful. Goes kind of fast but he'll slow down if you ask him to. Make sure you ask questions, He's very approachable.
If you don't want to show up to class don't take this teacher. He gives good lectures and answers any questions students have. He is clear about what will be on tests. All homework and quizzes are online, and you have multiple attempts at them.
Going to every class is important because he lectures every day. He answers every question a student may have, even offers to help outside of class. All the homework and quizzes are online. multiple attempts for both. He isn't a boring teacher.
He was very funny, and blunt. If you skip class you won't loose points, but it will be hard to catch up. Test are hard & he grades tough. Final exam is miserable. But he is very willing to help and tutor you.
Overall he's a great guy. As a teacher... not so much. Doesn't believe in reviews because says that he isn't going to "re-teach" something. Has sort of trick questions on test Lectures everyday so don't miss. Makes the material harder and more confusing than it actually is. Would not recommend.
He gives a lot of online homework and a few quizzes which help your grade. In class he doesn't follow the PowerPoint slides and goes off on tangents and doesn't cover the material in a timely matter. His tests are easy if you study book and problems before. You HAVE to work problems the way he wants or he will take off!
Ryan is a decent teacher. The work load is the usual. Homework, quizzes, and tests (ALWAYS HARD). Slow test grader usually. Swore up and down he was going to grade projects for correctness, but I guess he would lose motivation and it would just be for completion. Typically SUPER nice, however he had his moments where he would talk down to people.
GRADES VERY HARD. DO NOT TAKE. homework is worth 7-8% grade but doesn't help outside of that. Tests are extremely hard and 40% has to be done by hand on a "free response" section and the work has to be perfect or you wont get credit. His lectures don't make much sense and he's extremely rude and makes you feel stupid for asking questions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. BEWARE EXTREMELY HARD GRADER. Only put one because I couldn't go lower.
This professor is very fair and does not move on until the entire class is on the same page. Make sure you print out notes from MathXL before class.
Mr. Ryan is an intelligent math instructor who may be a tough grader, but he takes it seriously when it comes to becoming an educator and teaching math to other students. I would take him again !! Also, he is good looking so going to class was something to look forward to!
His class is difficult. He's very rude when giving feedback, especially on tests. He doesn't follow the notes or do the examples in the notes. Very rude when answering student's questions, and has a way of making us feel bad for not understanding material. The class projects are very confusing. Wouldn't recommend.
DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS. He is all over the place during lecture. He always goes off topic. I feel like I heard him complain about the fact that none of us could be educators more than I actually learned material. He was lat min with class, grading, posting reviews, and schedule. I was not a bad student, I got a B but taught myself.
Coming from someone who had straight A's in all other math classes, Stats isn't really like other math classes. Therefore, although I didn't enjoy Ryan as a professor, he is not a bad professor! This subject is just hard. But pay attention, take good notes and STUDY! He is a pretty tough grader and if you don't go to class its your fault you failed
Ive taken him for 177 and 241 and would recommend another prof. Hes a super nice person and makes lectures interesting but the class was confusing and I had to teach myself. The lectures were unorganized and I was always confused. Tests are hard. He is so nice though, even bought us pizza! But keep in mind you might be teaching yourself.
He is an excellent professor if you are comfortable with your math skills. He is very caring and eager to help, but if you struggle with math you may need a lot of help. He is a good lecturer to listen to, but he goes through material fairly quickly and the tests are decently difficult. Super cool and sweet guy though, he bought the class donuts.
A good teacher and nice guy, the only downside is that his tests are more difficult then the home works so be in mind of that.
ryan is a great guy, super nice, and wants to be your friend. with that he doesnt teach all the material during class because he talks so much. his tests are nothing like the homework and he grade super hard on the free response. ive always been very good at math but this class is awful. doesnt curve, doesnt give makeups good luck
when people say the tests are different than the homework they are saying the honest truth, not a bad teacher but needs to find a way to make material easier to learn. If you happend to take this teacher, goodluck.
Look, he is a great guy, very straight-forward, and gives clear grading criteria. However, he does not explain long processes all too well (which in math241, it is nothing but long processes). Also, A TON of homework.
Really wish I wouldnt have taken him for stats. He makes learning a real challenge. Most of the time hes very dry and rude to his students. If you are anything like me, youll have trouble paying attention because hes all over the place and not very good at explaining anything.
Kind of hard to follow in class but he will do what he can to help outside of class. He comes off as rude but hes just being honest
He is awesome, he really just wants to get to know everyone. This class is all online so its soo much work. He made it easier, but I think this class shouldn't be as difficult as it was. He drops a few homework, quizzes, and workbook pages at the end. My advice is to do all hw and quizzes until you have a 100 on them. He's not as bad as people say.
The class may be difficult if you have never take stats before. The homework and online quizzes do not really correlate what is on the test. The in class quizzes are a good way to study for the test. He grades very hard on the free response, so make sure you know how to do problems by hand! He is a very kind professor and if you need help he will.
Professor Dustch is a great teacher. He is clear and concise and is super direct in his problems. For tests, he lets you use a reference sheet. Don't overthink it, stats isn't that hard. Also provides notes and other resources. Would take again.
He is an okay teacher. He Is not helpful what so ever in tough times. He is a hard grader and is picky about how you word things on your test. If you have the chance to pick another teacher I would advise you too.
He's too smart for his own good. He throws out backwards comments to those who do not understand the material to humor himself. He says he will help you, but his way of helping is to make you feel stupid along the way. If you want to pass, DO NOT take this dude!
Ryan Dutsch is a very caring professor. He is funny and teaches well. My only complaint is that his tests are hard and he grades them hard too.
Professor Dutsch is such a nice guy, and he really cares about his students. I am not the best at math, but he is more than willing to help any student who reaches out to him. He made statistics very manageable, but you do have to work and be willing to learn the material. Lots of homework and quizzes to help boost your grade.
Great professor. Hilarious. Clear lectures. It's a difficult class all on it's own, he makes it as easy as possible.
A very hard teacher. You really have to work for your grade and make sure you understand what is happening the day of the lecture. He calls people out if you are failing in front of the whole class and recommends you drop. I would not take him again. Any other professor would be easier than him. Homework does not help at all and no study guides.
He was very nice and helpful if youre struggling. Do not be scared to reach out for help. But he is a tough grader but tries to make his lessons as interesting as possible. Would take him again for sure, the class overall wasnt hard.
Professor Dutsch did not let me pass, however, that is my own downfall. I did not do the required homework and quizzes at home. But he himself is a fantastic professor, he truly cares about you learning it as long as you are interested. I understand if you are simply taking it just because it is a requirement, but he does want to see you succeed
I was skeptical because of his ratings but he is awesome! He makes being in class fun and interesting. The class is difficult but he will always be there to help you. There are 4 tests as well as online homework and quizzes weekly. You must go to class to stay prepared and do well. I would take him again.
Good instructor
258 is discussion based so participation and attendance matter. Do your homework and participate in class discussions and you'll do well. Dutsch is hilarious and cares about his students, making the class fun. The homework is usually just reading the textbook and filling out a reflection. 3 tests total, doesn't use Moodle.
Dr. Dutsch is a good and nice guy. His MATH 247 class is no joke, you have to STUDY, GO TO CLASS, and STUDY MORE. The notes are printable, but the HW and Tests do not correlate, so being in class and viewing the examples helps. Tests are somewhat hard, but if you study you should do fine.
GO TO CLASS! He does not give study guides or reviews before tests so study, study, study. He is willing to work with you if you need help as long as you ask. He is funny and makes class as fun as possible. I ended the class with a 93A.
Mr, Dutsch was a great stats professor, stats is a hard class and he taught it very well and clear. he is also very funny and makes the class enjoyable and entertaining. I was not confused in his class. He does give quizzes once a week there is a lot of homework but as long as you do those you will not be confused.
Mr. Dutsch was amazing to take for math being my weakest subject. His lectures and the way he teaches is very engaging and easy to follow. He is also very funny and cool. If I could take him for every math I need I would!!
I took Mr. Dutsch for Math 107/108. I don't like math but he made it fun and easy to understand. He is lenient about pushing due dates back for quizzes and homework. He does not get upset if you don't show up to class, but if you want to pass go. Pearson is what we used to the math portion and it was not bad. The workbook pages are easy points!
This is not intended to be an easy "A" kind of class. Effort and participation will be required in order to succeed. Ryan Dutsch will help you as long as you are willing to help yourself. He cares about all of his students, and he wants them to do well, but he isn't writing any freebies. Great teacher, 5 stars.
He is great! He is willing to help as long as you ask. He is lenient with things and understands we have a life outside of school. He goes into great detail and makes sure you understand the concepts.
He is a great teacher as long as you GO TO CLASS. Total of 4 test everything you need to know will be from the note from class. As long as you can do the hw in my math lab you should do fine for test he lets you have a formula sheet. He is willing to help and tries his best to keep you engaged. There's A "pop quiz" everyday from the class before.
I ended up dropping his clas,s but he's super nice If I came to him asking for help he would always just explain the problem and keep it pushing. He's totally a joker too, definitely a fun person to be around. He's admitted to being a tough grader. He wants you to explain EVERYTHING. He even offered me help if I wasn't his student anymore.
I would take him again. As long as you go to class you should pass with flying colors.
Professor Dutsch's MATH247 class is challenging but manageable. Attend class, study hard, and you'll do well. Try using Unstuckstudy and other resources to supplement your preparation - they really helped me stay on top of the material.
He is a great guy, but he just was not for me. His teaching is all over the place, and it is hard to keep up.
I personally like Dr. Dutsch. I struggle with math. He has notes that you print out weekly. I had no problem passing this class by showing up and occasionally studying. There is a lot to do in Pearson. There is three unit test and a final exam. Final exam is cumulative.
He rushes through lessons like we already know the material. Feels more like a high school teacher than a college professor. Lots of ALEKS and quizzes but they barely help your grade. Exams are extremely hard and not like the study guide. Doesn't go over everything. Wouldn't recommend if you're not very good at math
He was helpful, but at the same time, he was not. Did not like how he assumed we knew all the material at some points. Some schools are different. I believe he is a good person, just not the best at helping advance the students.
I took his class online and it was very easy!
