Very clear, good teacher, great essay topics
This guy taught me how to think.
Don't expect him to relate to work'n for a living, but he gives good topics
Easy class, interesting subjects, and he's not hard on the eyes
Not Clear, only covered 2 topics the entire semester. Cute though.
Babes fawn over this guy! Good class. Covered both creative writing of poetry & instruction about it.
Yummy. But more importantly,a good teacher. Fair, but challenging material.
Absolutely great teacher who takes pride in his work and students. Glad to have had him and happy that he had the ability to aid in my writing ability. Take him, no doubt about it.
Very good English teacher. I was never really good at English courses, but he made it seems easier. Very interesting essay topics.
Great teacher. has a mono tone voice but always willing to spend time with you if you have any trouble.
Very critical teacher, but willing to work with students.
Ryan is the coolest teacher. He makes the topics of assignments interesting and relivant to current issues. He takes time to talk, even about issues not related to the class. Excellent guy!
He was an excellent teacher. Really helped build confidence in my writing. Topics covered were interesting.
Brilliant! Very cool and very smart. Actually cares about his students. Understanding and helpful! Take his class!!! He's a hottie!
Great teacher, but a little unclear on content. Very helpful and good looking too!
Simply fascinating to listen to. He taught this one with documentaries, and it was the most interesting English class I've ever had.
I thought that this class was very interesting. He based this class on documentary film and wrote papers based on our critical analysis. Cool class and cool teacher.
He is very knowledgable and hot!
he's really good looking!!! take the class, it's not like the normal boring english class, it's really interesting stuff. he's smart and you'll learn allot. lots of writting.
very good teacher. I really learned in his class. he is a harsh grader so you need to spend a lot of time on assignments but you will learn this way. his class is recommended for all transfer students
Great teacher. I struggled all semestar but I became a better writer and ended up with an A in the class. Its a fun class loaded with discussions. he is eager to help you. Take him you will learn a lot.
He is a very good teacher. He cares about his students and tries to help in any way he can. Make sure you're not too shy to ask him questions because occasionally assignments are not clear and you may want to ask him questions. He's very nice.
Very interesting class. Sometimes assingments aren't quite clear. But don't be affraid to ask questions. Papers are fairly easy.
great teacher. nice, funny, good-looking, helpful. not the easiest class but definitely worth the work. fun environment, enjoyable class.
Great teacher, very nice and funny guy. Take this class- easy papers, and overall easy class, but you still learn a lot
He is a great teacher, his essay are alittle tough, but they offer growth in writing. he explains everything very well, and gives a good amount of time for the essay. in all i grow as a writer from taking his class!!!
he maybe funny, but essays are very tough. many people have got Cs....because he doesn't explain what to do. reading respons is tough too. if you don't understand the reading, you gonna suck on an essay too.
Ryan is a great instructor; I encourage anyone who is thinking writing poetry seriously to take this class. He's helped me each week and I always look forward to attending this late night learning session.
Provides interesting subject matter. More of a debate class than an english class in many ways. Teacher on young side & and a little egotistical. Very tough grader -- almost too much so. I'm not inclined to recommend this class.
Ryan is interesting, intelligent, and also very good-looking. It might take you awhile to figure out what his expectations are, but the class is easy once you do. I definitely recommend this class, but be prepared to spend some time developing your essays
Ryan is an excellent English instructor. He allows for thinking outside of the box. The class sessions are great, giving one the opportunity to discuss opinions with class members. If you enjoy debate, you'll enjoy this class.
hot? yes. rad teacher?...eh. i don't know if it was the class' fault or his but tuesday night poetry dragged for me most nights. try sydney brown's creative non fiction course for a great tues night class.
He has us do group work far too much, but overall his class is tolerable.
This class is very difficult. The only way to get a good grade is if you go and talk to him about every single paper you write. If you don't talk to him then you get a bad grade. He is a VERY hard grader.
Mr. Griffith is a challenging professor. He has us read wonderful literature (what fun!) and then we have dynamic discussions. If you want to have a fun English course, take it with him. Alot of duscussion and group work.
Ryan is a great professor, he is also very good looking, and his course was challenging, but overall I am glad that i took the class. I am also glad he was my professor.
This was a challenging course to get through but Ryan made it easy to get through. The in class discussions were a bit repetative and got boring but overall it was good. I liked how he tested your writing skills and really made you try.
Ryan is definitely one of the best instructors at Grossmont. He is very sweet and helpful; however, he's a tough grader. Take his class only if you like challenges. I, particularly enjoyed his class very much, he's brilliant.
I was in a good semester of poetry. Ryan is a humourous instructor, very positive and motivating. I also took his 124 class. His writing assignments were a pleasure to do, and if you don't try, then of course you'll get a bad grade.
Ryan is a good professor. The material taught is really interesting, a lot of philosophical concepts that require quite a bit of thought. Not the easiest grader though, you won't be able to bs essays in this class.
Ryan is a really good teacher, and keeps the class interested. I know that many of the ratings say that he is a hard teacher, but he really isn’t at all. Just don’t go into the class over confident and you’ll be fine. Also do the writing workshops, the
great sense of humor very personable
Ryan Griffith is a radical teacher. This summer was a great class. We discussed politics, and got into a little philosophy. It is fun going to class, and fun writing papers for him. He is challenging and expects your best. Great sense of humor!
Definately expects great papers. Tough on you but his expectations are fair. He's like Ross from friends, dry sense of humor that catches you off guard and is hilarious. MY favorite line "I think that i need to go home and write in my self esteem jou
Ryan is a smart/interesting guy, but he treats the class too much like a phil. class. He assumes students have writing skills that many lack and focuses on content. My writing didn't develop much from his class, but I did learn a lot about other stuff.
Tough Class, not for somebody who wants to slide through English. It takes good writing skills and a persistant attitude, but Ryan is very helpful and personable. he helps with any questions you may have, and don't be afraid to ask them in this class. It is a blast
He expects great papers and expects you to know how to write them already. He grades on content and doesn't teach you anything. do not take his class if you do not already know how to write a college level essay, because he won't teach you.

Great guy, really easy to get along with & a great sense of humor. He jokes around constantly but also knows what he's talking about. He really takes an interest in your writing & really reads your stories, instead of just glancing through them.
He is very nice and helpful. However, he is difficult on grading. He expects a lot from his students. But I recommend you to take him because he really cares about his students.
kool professor. poetry prompts didn't help me write any new poems. class goes by slowly. grade is determined by how many projects you do and how many days you miss. some of the projects expect a lot.
If you already know the bones/basics of writing take him. He is interesting and fun but not that informative about "how" to write. He is not going to hold your hand but is definitily not unresonable either.
Ryan taught me how to critically think, read, and write. Yeah, the class was challenging, but aren't we in college? He dresses like a rock star.
He is great teacher, but focuses more on how to read than write. He does not tell you how to write but what to write which is difficult sometimes. he is good looking but sort of cold.I learned how to write to some extend not a lot.He is great though overall.
Ryan is a great asset to the English major. If you want to skate through a class don't take his, because he will challange you. Also, if you aren't at least a proficient writer, take someone else who will baby you through it. Ultimately, he might be the best English professor on campus.
I'm surprised no one has walked into his class and serenaded him with "Hot For Teacher."
Ryan is a great professor, really loves english and it shows. Awesome sense of humor. He grades hard but helped my writing a lot. The classes are sometimes slow. Plus he's kinda really hot.

awesome guy. so nice. he takes time to really read your work. for people expecting teachers to make you a great writer, it won't happen. if you can't write well,no amount of teaching will help. he's a writer himself and is very open to whatever your style is.outside projects but very simple.i'll be taking him as much as i can for any writing class.

hes a great teacher and hes always willing to compromise on the due dates of assingments. He tends to confuse people a little bit but he makes the class interesting and fun.
He's duh bomb. Taught me how to speak, think, write, spell my name. I'll name my second child after him.

He's such an aging hipster, but I'll forgive him for it since he's a pretty good teacher and easily the most beautiful guy on campus. Helpful if you visit him during office hours. Gives semi-interesting writing assignments.
I take him for all my writing classes. I know plenty people who would like to have his child, male and female. The guy is just great. Class is a pleasure to attend, it's never a hassle. He's such a goober in the loveliest way. Come to think of it, hell I'd have his kid too.
He's a cool guy. We have a lot of reading assignments and writing on what we read. As long as you read, you will be able to follow. Dont get behind! Do your work.
He's really nice and makes class as enjoyable as possible!
He's a good teacher, but he's very... odd. He does not help you to write your papers. His class is reading-oriented to help his students better understand texts and the meaning behind them. It's actually very helpful, and in effect helps to write. Quirky things about him: He describes things as "sexy" or "unsexy" and dresses like he's in the 70s.
He will challenge you in your writing organization of ideas. He knows what he is looking for and will tell you what it is. He is thorough with the material and makes sure you understand completely. No tests, just 3-4 papers. Very nice guy, funny in a sarcastic and humorous way. Good wit!
Really chill teacher. Good dresser, funny, laid back; it's his aura that makes the class interesting. Challenges students to think about issues we are faced with daily and those commonly overlooked. Always willing to help out a student. Make the effort to talk to him. You can totally find a passion for argumentative writing.

Great teacher, really makes you think. Definatley an odd one, but I say that with every good intention attached to it. Don't sign up for this class if you just want to scrape by with a C in English and get it over with.
OMG, an english teacher that cares WHAT you write about and doesn't just rip your papers apart with red ink! Good class topics, very laid back. Do your work and you will get an A
Good class, just dont miss more than two. Easy A as long as you write some poems and it doesnt matter how crappy they are because everyone else's in the class suck too. Ryan looks like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, hes a good guy though. Take it, its fun
Ryan is a badass. That's all I have to say. Good topics for papers and he actually cares about what you write in them. I would recommend him for anyone interested in taking this course.
Challenging topics to write about, so this is not a no-brainer class. He gives closed book commentaries after most readings and (3) 4-5pg essays. I got a few low grades on commentaries, Bs on 2 papers and A on the last and missed a few classes, but just communicated to him about it and he was cool and I got a B. He is an OK teacher.
i was looking forward to this class but was alot harder than expected. all you write about is boring writings on revenge the whole semester. class discussions help but they were a little to indepth that you didnt understand anything. deff not an easy class!!! 3 5-7 pages papers, i love writing and reading and dreaded this class... ended up with a C
The best English class I've ever taken. We discussed forgiveness, revenge, justice, and the search for truth. Challenging readings and paper topics, but now I feel prepared to transfer to a four-year university.
Probably one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken. If you like challenges and thinking outside the box, take this class.
I really like him, I think he is fabulous and I would like more of him, I will be sad when the semester is over....
Ryan's ethos are very becoming. He is a charming man and teaches with patience, empathy and sincerity. He made me want to come to class and learn. I know my career will benefit from this class and I have as a person. I will miss him when I am done.
nice guy, interesting teacher. the person who said he was the worst with "bad hair" was probably a jealous guy, since the chicks drool over this guy. he does not stifle creativity and he encourages critical thought...and it's not unusual for a teacher to expect you to follow the assignment. man, the things people complain about...
Ryan's pathos is appealing and his logos is quite reasonable. His class is A #1 Numero Uno. He's the Bono of English professors.

Great guy, good teacher, but what is up with that monkey?
The monkey is his love child with *&^(&*^, but who cares. He's a great teacher.
Gorgeous man. His class really makes you think, if you can concentrate long enough. He does expect a lot out of you, but don't complain: he's doing you a favor in trying to prepare you for the next level. I respect this smart hottie. I have to say, every class, I feel like ripping his stylish clothing off and... Need I say, I'd too have his child?
Eh. He was as good an English teacher as I'd expected. His material was in depth, though his instruction left a bit to be desired. Overall, I'd take his class again. And... because I can't resist... he's easy on the eyes with a lovely, velvet voice to match.
He was sooooooo boring!
Ryan was a great teacher. He was not easy, but the areas where he challenged were the areas that must be mastered for the university systems, so...if you are prepared to work for a grade, you'll get it. He normally kept things interesting and was always productive in class time, no dead end stuff. I would recommend him if you want to improve.
Wow, the girls love Ryan all right. He is a cool dude, very helpful, and definitley open to discussions on any subject. One of the best teachers I have had.
Awesome teacher. Everything was great from the assignments, to the class critiques to individual comments on how to improve the poems. Even had nice comments for those people who choose to write unsavory topics for shock value. Take this teacher!
Laid Back, I swear it's like he just woke up before my class. topics are not hard to understand and assignments are not hard to do. He keep it interesting and easy. dont' listen to the hatters. easy B atleast.
A great teacher. Literally told the class everything he wanted in every essay. Essay were the entire grade. Every essay was written in sections. For instance, write paragraph one. The next class we would discuss paragraph one and he would tell you EXACTLY what he wanted. Next class, next paragraph. Great teacher.
this class was pretty good, it's mostly based on essays and ryan will basically spell out what he wants.even though it was easy, i think i still would've learned something from the class. and yeah, he's an attractive guy.
Lots of busy work but it's for your benefit. Much focus on analyzing literature and being able to articulate such-duh-it's eng. I actually enjoyed the reading material. No guess work, he reiterates exact requirements for papers. Class can get a tad boring but genrally full of good discussions. And he's got jokes!
This guy and this class changed my life. I now dress much better and think more critically. My hair ain't too shabby, either. Ryan is godhead.
This class seemed boring at times but it is really helpful. I definitly saw the improvement in my writing and compreshension skills by the end of the semester. He has homework that seems tiresome but helpful in long run. Apply yourself to the reading, homework assignments, and essays and you will do fine.
ryan is great! he is very straight forward, comprehensible, and clear! he is organized and this is to your benefit because you know exactly what he wants you to do which in turn makes you learn much more and makes the class interesting! this class has taught me more than any other english class ever! thank you ryan your the best! definately recomen
First at all Ryan is damn sexy!, and if you ever get the chance to hear some of his poetry, do it because then you'll think he's even hotter. The class was good, he has good sense of humer and helps you a lot, the only thing i didnt like is that he doesnt leave comments on papers! but he's a good instructor
This guy is boring. He repeats the same things over and over and eventually you realize that his lectures are a waste of time besides getting the homework assignments. There is a homework assignment everyday. He takes forever to return papers. Overall, hes an alright teacher but his class is a snore fest. Would recommend looking elsewhere.
Cool guy. A lot of busy work that seemed pointless but in the end, actually made sense. I definitely recommend it.
For those that say Ryan's boring don't know what the hell they're talking about! Griffith is one of the best, if not the best, teachers at Grossmont! He's very smart, clear, friendly, personable and has a great sense of humor! So far Ryan Griffith & Micah Jendian are the best English teachers at Grossmont! Easy and interesting class.
As a member of TEAM GRIFFITH & JENDIAN, I can also say that these guys are superheroes (except they have no apparent weaknesses) of the intellectual race. Those who don't get it lack special powers. KEEEEEEEEEERPOW!
I WORKED SO HARD FOR A B. ATTENDED EVERY CLASS. DID EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF HW. DID PRETTY WELL ON ESSAYS. FOR A B. NOT AN EASY CLASS.
Easily the greatest and most enjoyable English class I've ever taken. Sometime the work seems tedious but it really helped in the end. I got high A's on all my papers and an A in the class. Talk to him during office hours and he'll tell you exactly what he's looking for. Definitely helps that he's gorgeous...and he's actually funny.
not to sound lame but this is the first english class i took at grossmont where i was actually challenged (and that includes ryan's 120 class). papers required a lot of thought and planning, but he's willing to help you out with all of that if you make the effort. take this class.
Well it is my major and I busted my ass for a B... I was so discouraged by the time we began working on the last paper that I knew I wasn't getting that coveted A. He explains things to you as if you were one of the students in his honor classes, and doesn't seem to realize that explaining it differently is far better than simply repeating himself.
Great teacher....Most of class is just discussion and as long as you speak up and participate the class is no problem. 3 or 4 papers to write. He explains exactly what he wants in the papers and gives you plenty of chances to proof read and discuss your papers in a small group. all and all Great guy
Good teacher. Lots of busy work thats supposed to help you with your papers. Your final grade is basically your papers. doing the ugly hw or even attending doesn't matter as long as you do well on the essays. I worked my ass off for a B -_- not cool, ryan!
First off, Mr. Griffith is the sexiest English professor at Grossmont. No, the planet! His sleek McLenin style is uncanning. His intellect and sense of humor keep students on the edge of their seats. Mr. Griffith has changed my life. In the midst of American imperialism and global hegemony, he taught me how to become a better writer. Through "The Power of Context" he showed me how to be a better human being. Take this class, you will be forever grateful.
he's tougher than people say, but he's very easy-going and understanding. he encourages class discussion and gets bored just like the students if he has to do all the talking, so he really likes to hear new ideas. he tries to help however he can. definitely a good choice.
He is cool. His class isn't insanely fun but he is a nice guy, very willing to help. There is homework almost everday but in the end it is helpful with the papers. There are no tests either.
My friends all recommended me to take him and I'm glad I did! The course work is interesting and makes you want to write. It's true that he's willing to help in office hours when he can and offers several opportunities for that. Come to class regularly because he takes role and participate in class discussions, it's part of your grade.
i almost gave up on college but he made me believe in something. funnny, inspirational, hot. I am human again. la la la la, la la la, good bye.
Smart and creative. Ryan's wheels always seem to be spinning. He's very helpful and interested in student's progress. Very good instructor.
Ryan is without question the best instructor I have ever had. I learned so much from him--about writing, reading, and even life. His care for his students is genuine and obviously so. My only complaint is that he's taking a year off--I had planned to take every course I could with him! Amazing professor, seemingly outstanding human being.
He is a great teacher. I had him for 120 as well. He is very willing to help with every paper. He's a nice guy too.
He is by no means an easy A. He takes his time reading papers and is only tough on you if he feels like you could do better. The topics were great and the class was always discussing interesting things. He is sarcastic, but it was funny because he picked on the know it alls. Great Class, and he is gorgeous, too bad he is in Russia for a year.
i miss ryan. he was so fun but now hes in russia. come back ryan oh come back we miss you.
great teacher. but sometimes it seems as if he wants others to teach. He is always picking on a student to answer questions. Its kinda embarrassing, because he lets others criticize you. I would say good teacher if you like him picking on you to read or stand infront of class. If not i would say dont take him. his grading is tough
He's smart, funny, and I don't know if it's proper for students to say that their teacher is HOT :) (but he is really handsome and attractive). He is willing to help you with the reading and ideas, but you are supposed to know how to write and arrange your ideas. Take his class if you are serious.
I dont know if he is the best teacher ever like these other raters say but hes pretty good as far as english goes. Some of the writing is interesting, and some of it...is not so much. Easy A provided that you can listen to what he says. Girls seem to fill up his class, so guys take this class if your looking for a majority of females.
He is unhelpful.I was totally frustrated. his expectation is high, but he is just not resourceful...what a contradiction! I felt that he does not really want to help or teach.I never felt that he is willing to answer my question. His face always says that he is tired~~oh yeah, maybe you are busy. never felt that he is friendly.
he wasnt friendly, it seemed like he didnt want to teach but only make others teach, ok i could have taken a online class if i knew. idk, whatever. all he did was give out too much homework. hard grader, Not at all an A class. take him if you want to be confused and fail this course.
hard grader, never gonna take his ass again, expectations are alot and you will always have homework. his jokes are lame and is way 2 into himself in a strange way.
you better work hard especially on the damn essays. i did everything, showed up and got B's on essays and got a damn c- in the class, you could have just given me a D. finally done w/ his class and my requirements. oh theres barely any fine females in the class, 2 to 3 max.
Not an easy class, however you will learn alot and be challenged. Make sure and meet with him about your papers...helps alot!
First off this class is not for the lazy! If you want to learn how to be a better writer and be challenged this is the class . Definitely my most entertaining class so far, the teacher is funny, the topics are really interesting and the discussions are insightful. Planning on taking his 124 class in the Fall.
In my opinion,Ryan asks for too much but he tells you little of what he really wants in your essays. If you need help he helps you but not willingly. He is handsome, and this helps but he seems to lacks enthusiasm, and the spark a teacher needs to make a class interesting. Is he funny? No, really I would say he is sarcastic instead. He is moody, an
Awesome class!!
Great class! Professor Griffith was VERY clear on what he wanted. To the person who complained ..try actually reading the assignment hand out. What he wants he puts in BOLD. Listen to what he 'repeatedly' says ...he couldn't spoon feed you anymore than he did. Not too many assignments but a lot of quality teaching in what he does. I learned a lot!
Ryans funny, friendly, and pretty helpful.I hate English(but I write well),and his laid-back teaching attitude put at ease taking a subject that I dislike. If you feel hes sarcastic or has an attitude, you probably didnt read the paper outline or the material, and hes frustrated. His classes, especially ENG 124,arent the easiest, but you will write better!
Professor Griffin is a great instructor. When I registered for classes I thought this would be a boring class and wasn't looking forward to it. I was worried I would have a pretentious teacher, but he is not! Very helpful and personable. It's hard work, but well worth it. I'm enjoying the classroom experience.
This class is hard, but you will write well. He is a very helpful teacher (remember! pay attention to what he repeat).
the best teacher ever. for those who are going to SDSU, TAKE HIM!! cuz the essay format he teaches is the same one you will have to take at SDSU for the WPA exam!! good luck
I had Ryan for an instructor a couple of years ago & have since graduated from UCLA. I can say I still think he is the best instructor with whom I've ever had the pleasure of taking a class. I realize this is partly based on preference but even still--he's outstanding. I'll probably never see him again but he had an impact that stays with me still
He's a pretty good teacher. He made class interesting and fun. Explains things in a very clear manner.
Ryan Griffith is an amazing professor! The essay format he uses is easy to follow. Do the essays in steps, as he requests, and you will do fine. Listen carefully to suggestions in class & write it down, you can take exactly what he says and put it into your essay! Really nice guy, I would recommend him to anyone who wants to become a better writer!
This class was by far the easiest English class I've ever taken. Griffith is awesome. We watched cool films and read interesting texts and basically wrote essay's about them. Hardly any homework and he always either cancelled class or dismissed class early. He dresses nice too :)
Ryan was a really cool teacher, he is very sarcastic. The people in the class were kind of dull, so his humor was needed. The essay format is kind of unclear at some points, but go to his office hours it helps. Oh and for the record his looks grow on you. He's pretty hot. Hey, that helps for paying attention.
Mr. Griffith's class is a waste of your time. He doesn't really seem to care. Always late. Very hard grader. I recommend this class for English Pros, not those who are struggling and want to learn how to become a better writer.
If you've taken honors classes before and are a "good" writer, take his class! His grading is based upon your style. No text, attendance, and he lost our grades at the end of the semester.A lot of people for As and made up their grade. He's funny, and a really easy grader. Final was extra credit, 3 essays and 3 movies. I got an A.
Ryan is a good English teacher, definitely prepares you if you are going to SDSU. He grades on content not grammar so much. His class was easy, but expect to do work. He is funny and easy going. Sets aside plenty of office time if you need help. I took him for both 120 and 124. Definitely glad I took his classes.
The class was challenging, but it was more so challenging if you did not seek help for the material
Ryan is a great teacher. He takes things slow and explains exactly what he's looking for in all the assignments. Very friendly and approachable. He really does prepare you for four year university English classes. Lastly, he's pretty cute for someone his age.
This guy is one of the teachers that made me wants to be a teacher. He is fantastic, he loves what he does and it shows. He's an incredible writer as well. He is a good person and teacher! Goooo to his office hours, he's really helpful!
I highly recommend this professor. He is very kind and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He only assigned 3 papers which were all very unique and interesting. Put a good effort in on your essays and it is an easy A.
As far as english teachers go, you can do a lot worse than Ryan. Class was straight forward with only three papers. Just about everything in the class was geared toward whatever paper we were focused on at the time. He is clear in his expectations, gives ample time to finish papers, and is reasonable in his grading.
I took this class years ago and still thing about how much he inspired me in poetry. I didn't even need this class but I showed up to every class because he's so passionate and captivating. Take his classes! Great to look at too!
Professor Griffith's class was pretty interesting. He is a fair grader and is very helpful. He is very nice and handsome as well.
Ryan was my favorite teacher in the spring semester! He makes class interesting by using controversial materials that he is clearly excited about. He makes sure you actually know how to write your essays and is always available for help during his office hours. He really appreciates class participation. BEST TEACHER FOR ENGLISH 120
Griffith was great. Its been a few semesters since I've had him but the way he taught us to compose papers has benefited my writing skills tremendously. Definitely recommend.
Ryan is a great English professor. He is very helpful and bases the essays on interesting books.
Griffith is an awesome teacher! I don't post on here very often but he made me come on here and do it. Its amazing how much he cares about the students and them actually understanding. There are NO tests in this class, only papers. 4 papers, he gives you a lot of time to do them and helps so so much with them! oh and he's funny. Just take him!
Tells you pretty much exactly what he wants to see in the assignments. As long as you follow the directions and do the work, you'll be fine. If you do that and show up for class he'll actually help you improve your writing.
Ryan is a fantastic professor. It is clear that he really cares about all of his students and gives very good feedback. He assigned three papers and one group video project throughout the entire semester, but encouraged students to push themselves as writers. I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
Ryan is a cool guy and he will give you honest and clear feedback. He gives you a lot of information on how to further yourself in writing. It is a very fun class, recommended to anyone.
Ryan is one of the best professors I have ever had. Class material is interesting and his lectures are engaging. No busy work and no exams. Assigns a few papers that really make you think and engage your mind. Having trouble? Go to office hours, he is more than willing to help. I hated English before this class and he made me love going to class.
He is a very straightforward professor and there are no surprises in the homework, essays, ect. There was one group project at the ends that was very simple and replaced the final. Overall great teacher
He is the best English teacher I had. He doesn't give exams, instead, there are papers. Papers are not easy, but he uses a lot of time to help you understand everything, and guide you through it, all you do is put everything together in a paper. He is extremely caring, helpful, patient. Put work in this class, you will learn a lot!
Great person and teacher. Really straight forward on the main object of writing a certain essay. Give lots of help! Go into his office hours for more help, and he give great feedback. Homework is given once in a while. We do a lot of group work with the homework or peer editing. Go to all classes though!
An ok teacher. He can be a bit confusing, and I personally feel like he's a tough grader (in regards to essays). The homework is usually bringing by an outline in preparation of the essays and he doesn't collect nor grade them. He is helpful and I suggest seeing him during office hours. Overall not a challenging class, but it is boring.
Funny, but his lectures are quite boring. Time to do assignments took longer than needed. We worked on one easy 5 paragraph paper for 4 weeks. The book "The Road" that was read in class was interesting, but other than re-learning how to write a paper, his class was quite mediocre. Alot of students didn't show up because there was nothing to do. :(
gets angry a bit too fast. he is very sarcastic also but trynna be funny which is sad
I had Ryan for English 120 and I LOVED him. He truly wants everyone to succeed. His lectures are based on what is being taught at the moment, he basically hands you everything you need. Even canceled class a few times to hold conference days where he meets with every student and goes through their essay to give feedback. Barely any hw, take him!!
Just finished the required English classes for my major & he's still my favorite. He was an easy grader and barely, if any, homework was required. He focuses more on the assignment in class over anything (4 essays and no final). Can't remember any books we read, but there might've been 1. Wish I took him for English 124. 100% recommend!!!
Very tough class with a lot of work.
Ryan is respectful and honest person but his papers are very hard to understand and requires very long time to understand. If you take his class it will be the only burden you'll have in the semester.
Very very confusing teacher, and doesnt want you to pass or get a good grade.
Ryan's class will prepare you to become a strong critical thinker. He has office hours open for students throughout the semester and encourages visits. Some of his topics may leave you scratching your head, however, if you tell him what's bothering you--he'll guide you. Seek help and he'll give help. I got an A in the class, respectfully. Take him.
Clear grading criteria, no textbook purchase required. The way he explains things sometimes can be difficult, but if you do the work and do as he says you should be fine. Not much emphasis on attendance, really tough on late work tho.
I learned so much in his class, not just about English, but the class made me think about life in general. This class has truly grown my critical thinking skills and Im so thankful for that. Take his class! Trust me, you wont regret it! Also he just requires three big papers, some hw assignments and that was about it! Loved this class so much!
Extremely clear and really wanted us to succeed. He even gave extra credit to students just to come in and introduce themselves at the beginning of the semester. Great class!
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. Ryan, he goes by Ryan, is like that cool art teacher that distills wisdom with every word that comes out of his mouth. Each piece of writing studied in his class make you think deep and ponder life. He is truly inspiring and provides so much for his students. Explains every assignment in great detail & provides tools/resources
Ryan is an amazing professor. Class was very straightforward and not overwhelmingly difficult at all. We had a lot of time for assignments and lots of opportunities to get our grades up. Gives great feedback and is willing to do whatever to help us pass. I really recommend taking Ryan.
This professor was a great pick for English 124. He gives clear guidelines for essays and even gives you A grade examples for you to reference. He offers very convenient office hours if you need help. Fairly easy grader and is very understanding.
I really enjoyed professor Griffith. I took him for eng120 and definitely taking him again! His lectures are funny and educational. Highly recommend him!
Show up, participate in class, and you'll pass!
Great class. Learned a lot. Go to his office hours and have him look over assignments before turning them in. It assures an A. He gives you days just for personal conferences and extra credit for going to see him before projects are due. A professor who truly cares about his students and their learning.
I took Prof. Griffith for English 124 and it was an awesome class. He made it really fun and interesting. Probs three papers total anywhere from 4-6 pages long. One project at the end as a final, but you get to pick it. We focused a lot on crime and most of our papers were about that. I would definitely take his class again!
Prof. Griffith is hands down the best English instructor I've had. The paper topics are very interesting and thought-provoking and he provides plenty of time to discuss in class. The class consisted of three papers and had a very maintainable pace. He is very friendly and helpful and always accessible by office hours for help. Highly recommend him!
I always looked forward to going to Eng 124 because Prof. Griffith made a comfortable and creative learning atmosphere that made everyone want to participate. Highly recommend this teacher!
He changed my writing. He hated my first paper, got mad, and changed my second paper to a different style and he loved it. You will watch movies in class, read books which he requires but they're usually pretty cheap $10-$15, and they will be discussed in class. This class was the changing point for my writing. Would give chili pepper.
Ryan was a really great professor! He truly wants you to succeed and become a better writer. The lectures are why I was motivated to come to class. Very thought provoking and sometimes I wish class went on a little longer:) very understanding with my personal situation and if you have trouble understanding english reach out to him!
I highly recommend you take this class! Professor Griffith really cares about us as students and our education. He shows that he really wants us to succeed. He has accessible office hours which he provides extra credit for utilizing. His class prepares you to be a successful critical thinker and is straightforward. He also gives excellent feedback.
Griffith is a great teacher and helps out students. Very caring and is easy to ask questions to at his office hours. All around solid teacher.
BEST PROFESSOR IN GROSSMONT. He gave amazing feedback and he graded assignments in less than 30 minutes. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. His class opened my eyes to many different topics.
Loved his class. I did well on all of his essays and he gives you extra credit if you turn it in early. He puts the class into groups often. Easy in my opinion, and I loved the book we read called The Sunflower. Then we watched a movie and did a rhetorical analysis on it. He helped us a lot with what he is looking for. Willing to help outside class
Great teacher that really cares about his students. The books and materials he uses really teaches you a lot about life and making decision in the real world. Also the discussions we have in class make it really easy to make connections and friends with people because the books bring out peoples personalities.
you'll need to study everything by your own. teacher does not give attention to students and care about them
If you take his class in a semester you shouldnt take any other class. Looooooots of work that you cant do anything else besides this class. Consumes all your time.
Professor Griffith is clearly dedicated to writing and has a genuine interest in the writing of others. He was fair and even-minded, and saw the best in all student writers. Personally, I would have liked a tad more creative criticism, since I am very serious about my work, but I think he is a good teacher with great literary insight.
Very nice and understanding. Lectures are kind of a snooze fest, but he is a very nice man and the assignments are straightforward. One book is required to buy, but it is not a textbook. This course was more about open-mindedness than essays, and I would take this class again.
I LOVED this class. I am not sure who said this class gives a lot of homework but out of my 3 other classes, this class had the least homework. He usually grades based off completion and effort which makes it easy to receive an A. Definitely brings out the critical thinking but overall VERY EASY CLASS.
If you participate during zoom, the assignments and the papers will be a lot easier. Your grade consist of 3 papers and some easier small assignments. His class is organized so the papers are not difficult as long as you do not fall behind with the benchmarks he sets. Also, he sets up private zooms so that you can go over the papers, super helpful!
This teacher is really cool. Classes are mandatory but it's always worth attending anyways because he goes over the assignments clearly and you also get into breakout rooms where you can brainstorm ideas for your projects. There's not a lot of homework either. I have him for online class, so that's what my experience is based on.
Professor Griffith was the sweetest ENG 124 Teacher out there! He is super caring and if your honest with him he will work with you. Always available to meet with students and has very good lectures. He made online learning so easy.
Prof Griffith was literally the best prof ever! So good that I decided to take him for both English 120 and 124. His lectures are very helpful, doesn't waste your time, and he really tries to connect with his students. Before turning in our essays he always meets with us individually to help us improve and give feedback. He is always there to help.
Great teacher, anyone who says otherwise literally did zero work. Super understanding of issues that you could be having and tries to help. 100% recommend.
Amazing professor. He is very nice and is open to both sides of an argument. He gave enough time to complete the assignments. Responds and grades very quickly. Doesn't grade too hard as long as you put in the effort. When it comes to the essay, make sure to put all your effort into it. Shouldn't be a problem as long as you keep up with assignments.
The work is pretty straightforward, I could have gotten an A, but I didnt do a few discussions which were easy points. You have a discussion every week and meet up once a week. Only three papers which he doesnt grade too harshly. Follow the rubric and he offers plenty of sample papers to help you. The discussions also help give you ideas.
Class was great and straight forward. Only three major papers, they're not in the traditional writing style but are creative & better. Only required reading was really great. Ryan (prefers his first name) gives great feedback and gives you enough time to complete assignments. You learn a lot and is an easy A if you try(got a 100%). Highly recommend
Best professor I've had. I just want to thank Professor Ryan for an amazing semester. Interesting readings, easy assignments, lots of extra credit, and lots of creative freedom. Only really wrote one traditional paper this semester and even then it was a piece of cake. Very clear and easy grading criteria. This man deserves 10 stars !
Great professor. As long as you keep up on discussion boards and homework, you should be fine. The essays weren't hard at all. There are three main essays and then the final. As long as you write what is required, very easy class. Not gonna lie, there are some long articles you have to read and a movie, but other than that, good class.
Seriously the best professor I've ever had. Very easy and engaging class. Not very much homework and the 2 main essays were very easy and he is an easy grader. Ryan is also extremely understanding of your personal matters and is willing to work with you.
Seriously the best professor I've had! Ryan is very caring and is extremely understanding of personal matters and is willing to work with you. Not too much homework and only 2 main essays which are very easy and fun to write. Such a fun and engaging class. I can't recommend Ryan enough!!
Ryan was definitely the best professor I've ever had. He gave me a new perspective on what an English class can be. The class was so engaging and not difficult whatsoever, the homework didn't feel like schoolwork, it was fun to do. He's also extremely understanding with everything, I cannot recommend Ryan enough!!!!
Ryan is the best professor I've had! He's amazing and really cares about his students. He gives clear instructions and ALWAYS open to help you and succeed. The work totally doable, two main essays that are extremely fun. The work assigned is extremely fun to engage with and makes you excited to write. Take him! He is an amazing professor!
absolutely the best teacher of all time. He made writing such a fun task. I HIGHLY recommend him.
The teaching materials are excellent. I was always encouraged by careful feedback, clear grading criteria, and extra credit.
Absolutely LOVED Ryan. Super great professor; he obviously cares about your experience in his class. There are a couple reading requirements, but nothing crazy. Most of the big assignments have creative room to choose how to go about it.
Amazing professor! He cares and wants you to succeed in his class. You read one book which is 98 pages and write a dialogue essay (can range from 4-8 pages depending how you write it), watch The Thin Blue Line and write a 5 page essay, and other smaller assignments which are tedious but easy points.
Amazing professor and really helpful. make sure you do your homework and a lot of reading and you be fine. highly recommended to take this class with this professor he is the best!
Great professor! Gives help without having to ask and records step-by-step instructions for assignments. There is plenty of time to complete papers, late work is accepted, and many extra credit opportunities.
An awesome prof who makes writing fun. With just a few engaging assignments, the work is totally doable. Unstuck study AI was a game-changer for prepping - highly recommend trying it out!
This class was a success. I really enjoyed the course.
professor Griffith gave a complex class a great outline that made it easy to follow. He gives recorded videos explaining complex details of assignments that help you understand what he wants. He is available to help you get a good grade on your projects and is very easy to understand! I would gladly take again if I could!
Loved this English class! Very clear layout and timeline of assignments, and he gives extremely helpful feedback on the major essays and papers to ensure you get the best grade possible.
Professor Ryan is 10/10. I usually hate English classes, but this one was very nice. I expected a dreadful experience, but it felt like a chill high school English class. He breaks down papers into chunks with their own due dates. Going to class helps a lot with paper expectations and ideas and he leaves plenty of time for help with everything.
Great professor, I have never enjoyed any English classes except this one. He is passionate about the subject, cares about your opinion and grade, and grades super lightly. There is a lot of writing but it does not feel like a drag compared to other classes. If you want an easy time, take this class
This professor was amazing. He pays attention to your work and offers help in optional class meetings. He breaks down the papers into chunks so it's much easier. He made the class more enjoyable and comftarble to be in. Attendance may be mandatory since the majority is in-person work.
Professor Ryan Griffith is an outstanding instructor. His English 124 course was one of the most impactful classes I've taken. He encouraged us to think deeply, especially during the Sunflower unit. His feedback was always clear, supportive, and helped me grow as a writer. I would highly recommend taking him if you get the chance.
My English professor has been amazing. He made class engaging, encouraged meaningful discussions, and always created a supportive environment where students felt comfortable sharing their ideas. His feedback helped me grow as a writer and it was clear that he genuinely cared about our success. I'm very grateful for such an inspiring teacher.
Ryan is the best!!! He's extremely passionate about his class, cares deeply about his students, and he had some amazing lectures. He brought a lot of variety into class, kept it fun, and allowed us to be creative with our papers. He kept in touch with us on a personal level, and gave tons of extra credit options. Definitely take him for english!
Ryan fosters a communal learning environment that students feel comfortable in. He offers much EC and loves to build a personal relationship with all his students. He encourages creativity for both essays by giving extensive freedom (choosing the movie or format). There aren't many assignments besides essay prep which is talked about in class alot.
He is an awesome professor! He genuinely wants his students to succeed and to make class as entertaining and understandable as possible. The more you give in terms of participation (with both students & him) the more you will get out of the class. would 100% take again.
