Great professior and easy to understand
Professor Melillo is a really great professor! He is willing to go out of his way to help you and is always available if you need it. He is incredible smart and can explain the material a different way if you need it. The class is insanely hard, but it is because of the material, not because he can't teach it. 10/10 would recommend
Melillo was a great professor to take for Patho! His lectures were very thorough, and he was always straightforward with what was going to be on the exams. Patho is a difficult topic, but Melillo really taught it well. Make sure you go to every class, because there's a lot of information in one lecture! I'm glad I took him for BIO322.
Melillo was my absolute favorite professor this semester. He is very knowledgeable and understanding. I definitely gained the most from this class. Don't get me wrong, it was hard. However, it will help you so much in your medical degree.
I highly recommend taking this professor. He is incredibly smart and explains things in a very clear manner! He is also very relatable to students by continuously cracking jokes, along with giving us Bible verses and words of encouragement throughout the semester. He will do everything in his power to prepare you for the exams. Take his class!
Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor. He breaks the physiology down and draws pictures to help you understand. He also gives good analogies to help you remember. His quizzes and exams are straightforward with a couple of trick questions but if you show up to class and study then you will do very well.
I had Melillo for BIO202L and BIO322 (Pathophysiology). He is one of the best professor I've had! He makes his expectations very clear and as long as you study and do your work, it is definitely possible to get an A in the classes that he teaches. I would definitely recommend taking his class if you get a chance.
He is passionate about what he teaches and loves connecting with the students. I would have him as a prof. again without a doubt!
Very good professor even though I took him at 7am. His lectures were very interesting and he gave good examples. He counts participation so be in class. His exams rely on the lectures and also on the textbook so READ THE BOOK! He does give a study guide for the midterm and final. The quizzes are given online.
Dr. Melillo has been one of the best instructors at GCU. If he taught other classes I needed I would take him again. He tells you his expectations on the first day of class. His lectures are filled with a lot of info but he is open to answering questions. Allows you to split up homework with fellow students. Grades depend on homework and exams.
Dr. Melillo is so so good! I came into my first BIO class scared, not knowing what to expect and he was definitely a huge part of why I enjoy the class so much. He explains things very well, is super funny, and very helpful- highly encourages us to go in for his office hours. 10/10!
Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor, he encourages you to come in for his office hours and he is very helpful when you do go. His tests are straightforward and he prepares you well for them. This by no means was an easy class, however, it is possible to get a high A. This professor lectures well and makes it fun and interactive. 10/10 recommend.
Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor who really knows what he is talking about. His tests will not trick you as long as you paid attention in class. He is accessible outside of class and will answer all your questions no matter how ridiculous they are. He is such a great teacher that I am taking him for lecture and lab next semester!
Participation is given freely. You are tested on information from the lectures. Lectures are very informational and provide a lot of discussion. Melillo is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Tests are easy as long as you study the review guides he provides. Pay attention in lecture because discussions in lecture are tested on also
He is one of my favorite professors at GCU. He makes his lectures interesting by incorporating real life situations. He is very open to questions so ask some. His tests are exactly what is in the lecture slides. Don't really need the textbook unless you don't understand something or want to learn more on a topic.
Dr. Melillo was very good about explaining what would be on each exam. He also explained which material would be relevant to his exams. The class is focused on exams so just pay attention to what he says would be on it and study that and you should be fine.
Melillo is by far the best professor I've had. He is passionate about teaching and the human body and his lectures are by far my favorite part about the course! I want him for patho and basically everything!!!!! Highly recommend!
Professor Melillo is one of the best professors I have had at GCU thus far. He made lectures very interesting and highlighted key points for studying. The class itself required a lot of studying, but all information was covered in class, and he further explained things when needed. He was very encouraging, and really wants students to succeed.
LOVE LOVE LOVE MELILLO!! He such a great professor because he cares so much for his students. His office hours are extremely helpful because he thoroughly explains things that you didn't understand in class, and clarifies without any issues. He always puts his students first & also he is just a super cool guy!!
LOVE MELILLO!!!!!!! He is the best professor! Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor and loves to help his students! As long as you pay attention to his lectures and put in a couple hours of studying a week it is very easy to get an A on his exams. I am super excited to be taking him for Pathophysiology in the fall! HIGHLY RECOMMEND MELILLO!!!!!
He is the best professor I have and so far. He explains things very well. Is very knowledgeable of material being taught. He makes classroom environment very much at ease and comfortable.
AMAZING! I mean I'm sure his score says it all. I love this professor and really feel like this was the best job choice he could have ever made. He genuinely cares and I would retake this teacher for every class if I could.
He's a funny guy and I enjoyed my 7 AM with him. He's chill and provides good detail of differing health/medicine career futures. Study, pay attention in class (he'll give hints), and ask questions. You'll be fine!
Dr. Melillo is by far one of the best professors i've had. He truly cares for his all of his students and makes lecture personable. The key to this class is to pay attention during lecture and review his powerpoints. The only grades throughout the semester are four exams and participation. So you must preform well on all exams to get a good grade.
Great Professor! He enjoys making jokes and is very accessible. I have had him for patho and bio201 and he is honestly the best. his lectures are very straightforward and he reviews everything before any test. He also highlights the differences in certain topics and answers question very well. You have to put in the work to pass though.
Simply put, Melillo is the BEST. He is really funny and great at explaining everything. Tests are worth 85% of the grade but don't let that scare you away. They are easily passable if you do the study guide, and he tells you exactly how they are broken up in class. Absolutely take Melillo if you have the chance.
He explains information well and goes over things multiple times to make sure you understand the information. If he talks about it more than once or goes over it in reviews know it will be on the quiz or test. Quizzes can be challenging if you don"t study but the test seem a little easier than the quizzes.
Excellent professor! 10/10 recommend, as he is funny, entertaining, and prepares you well to not only be prepared for the exams, but to truly know the material.
I loved Melillo. He was a super awesome teacher. Clear and concise lectures, good answers to questions, and super nice. He is accessible outside of class. Tests were rigorous, but straight to the point (no tricky or weirdly worded questions). His powerpoints give you most of the information you need. All around good guy. Super funny stories too.
DR. MELILLO IS THE MAN! I would not have passed 202 if I didn't have him. He explains the concepts several different ways and he goes super slow to make sure you understand. This class is difficult so if you don't study you won't do well but Melillo makes it way easier.
Dr. Melillo was by far one of my favorite instructors last semester. He explains everything really well and he's really funny (I actually couldn't stop laughing a few times in his class). I probably wouldn't have passed this class if it weren't for him. If you have the opportunity to get him as your instructor, do it!
During my time in his class, I would rely on him for my lab class as well. This year I am taking pathology with another teacher, but I know that I will still go to his office hours. He cares about his students and remembers their names and their stories. One of the best professors to have.
Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor. Bio 201 is a difficult class but his lectures are clear and concise. He is very personable and cares for his students. His classes are interesting and never too dull. He keeps students engaged and wants his students to succeed. I made sure to take him for Bio 202 because he is so good at what he does.
He is such an amazing professor. He is very personable and is there to help you understand the material. He applies his own life instances to help you understand deeper and laugh a bit. He hints at what to expect to see on the exams. He gives these 20 minutes tangents about advice on life, nursing, and Christ, which is refreshing.
Dr. Melillo is an excellent professor who wants his students to succeed. His expectations are very clear and his test questions are straightforward, not designed to trick you. Dr. Melillo's lectures are both informative and interesting, littered with fun stories and college hacks. I loved his class and highly recommend him as a professor.
dr melillo is one of the best professors ive ever had! he gives great lectures and is very knowledgeable about all the subjects we cover! i took him for 202 and patho and he was very passionate and informative about every topic. hes also very clear about the test information. he also was very encouraging about nursing
I really loved having Dr. Melillo as my professor for BIO-201. BIO-201 is a very difficult class. He managed to find a way to make it easier to understand and more relatable. He is a very good lecturer and really does care about his students and how well they do. He wants to see all his students succeed in their programs.
Professor Melillo is amazing!! I have him for BIO 202 now and I couldn't be happier. His lectures are super great and he provides a lot of examples to make the material more clear. BIO 201 was a hard class but if you study in advance and go to his office hours before a test you should get an A.
He is by far the best professor I've had. He really cares about his student's passing and has a lot of office hours that you can go to. He will go over exams with you or any questions you have. The class is lecture heavy but he explains everything well and is funny. You need to go to class because he takes participation randomly, so be there.
Best teacher everrr! Definitely recommend getting him, hes so caring and positive about school life and he understands the struggles of pre-nursing majors! Hes funny, really calm and very thorough when teaching lecture, easy As if you study!
Best professor ive had for bio so far! He understands completely on how students struggle balancing classes or work life. He teaches lectures well, I never left the class with unasnwered questions. Choose him as a professor!
I had Melillo for BIO 201 and 202. His lectures are heavy, but he explains the content very well. He is very accessible outside of class and offers a lot of study tips and help. He keeps his class engaged and is very straightforward. Not much you could complain about Melillo, he's a great and reasonable professor.
he is the best. get him
Dr. Melillo is the smartest hiring decision GCU has ever made! In his lectures he goes over EVERYTHING. There are no surprises on the exams as he has covered everything on them in GREAT & UNDERSTANDABLE detail, leaving your grade completely up to your effort! Also a great mentor outside outside of the classroom, definitely one of my role model!
He is an amazing teacher! He knows what he is talking about and is always welcoming students into his office hours. I would highly recommend going to his office hours ( they are usually packed). He is super funny and will incorporate stories and drawings into his lectures that are super helpful!
Amazing! Made BIO 202 way easier and is very understanding! I love his stories he tells as well!
Literally best teacher ever!!! I recommend him to all bio 201 and 202 students!!
Melillo is by far one of my favorite professors at GCU! He is kind and wants the best for his students. His tests are hard but if you take notes and pay attention in lecture it wont be too hard of a class! Recommend him to everyone I talk to
He was a very great professor that has a lot of knowledge in the subject. He is also open to any questions and is very understanding.
If you can take Dr. Melillo, DO IT!! I cannot say enough good things about him. His top priority is your success, especially in such a tough class. He is very engaging, even during 1 hr. 45 min. lectures. If you need advice about how to do better in class or about how to get into the nursing program, he's very knowledgeable. You won't regret it!
I highly reccomend getting Melilla for any A&P class. He teaches in a simple way- he does not overcomplicate things so it is easier to understand. I wish i wouldve had him for BIO-201 because i feel like i missed out on a lot of content then, but I made up for it in BIO-202 with him. Definitely get Melillo!
BEST PROF EVER!! Melillo really values his students and it is evident. He teaches the material at a basic level and at a reasonable pace. Sometimes, he gets distracted and talks about real life issues for 20-30 minutes of class. He doesn't draw much when explaining, but he explains them well. The only grades are for participation & exams.
Dr. Melillo is THE BEST!!! He truly wants his students to be successful. Anatomy and Physiology is a tough class but he keeps it very interesting! I highly recommend taking lots of notes and scheduling office hours with him if you ever have any questions.
He will only test you on things he goes over. His exams are straight forward compared to other professors. He does spend some time talking about real world matters and religion, so sometimes we didn't get to finish the slides. But it didn't happen that often.
Professor Melillo has by far been the best teacher that I have had at Grand Canyon University. His class is not easy and you will have to work for your grade, but he genuinely wants all of his students to succeed and puts in the extra effort to help his students do so such as having review sessions and having open office hours. 100% recommend
I highly recommend Melillo for BIO211; he holds a review session prior to each exam, is extremely clear on exactly what will be tested on, and even takes time to explain what graduate school will be like/admission expectations. Melillo also makes lectures enjoyable with humor and personal anecdotes.
My absolute favorite professor I have ever had. His lectures are interesting and the way he teaches sticks. Exams are most of your grade but they are EXTREMELY straightforward if you pay attention. He made this hard class a breeze. Gives brain breaks between subjects and talks about med-school stats and personal anecdotes. Super kind and caring.
Dr. Melillo is the best prof I've had at GCU so far! Great lectures that make the material easier to understand, cares for his students and available outside of class. The class is exam heavy but he's upfront about where the points will come from on the test. If you can take his Patho class, do it!!!
Best anatomy & phys teacher out there. His lectures are the best, and will go over everything you need to know for the exam. His office hours are also super helpful because he will gladly go over topics to make sure you understand them. 10/10 Professor
Dr. Melillo is a great professor and he made learning really enjoyable. He makes it clear what you need to know so as long as you make the effort to study and make the disease sheets he tells you about then you will do great in this course. He sets you up for success and his exams are very fair.
His lectures give all the right information that you need and he makes it clear what you will need to know and what you won't need to know. Great attitude, great professor.
Dr. Melillo is probably my favorite professor. The stories he shares in class are hilarious. He is always willing to reexplain concepts to us and is always happy to see us. His lectures do not feel like lectures and he can break down concepts easily. A&P is a hard class, but Dr. Melillo does not make it feel hard. Take him!!
One of the best lectures I have ever attended. I felt like I barely had to study outside of class and I knew exactly what to prepare for the exam. Best professor and was so open-minded. I loved his view on vaccines and natural immunity. Definitely recommend.
I had him for both 202 and 322 and was nervous due to my bad grade in 201. However, with him, I got an A in BOTH classes. He is straightforward and will tell you exactly what the exam covers - no googling or searching for stuff outside the PowerPoint. He's very funny and answers all questions thoroughly. No classwork or HW. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Hes so nice and funny. He clearly states what will be on the exams and what wont. It makes studying very easy.
I took him for bio 202 and I love him! His lectures are very good and valuable. He makes complicated ideas and systems easier to understand. Whatever he says to learn you better know for the test cause it will be on it. I am never surprised on exam day. He also gives lots of life advice as well lol.
He is a great professor and made it seem so simple since he made easy and funny mnemonics to be able to remember a few of the hard concepts! Not only does he give great lectures, but he also is very inspirational and gives motivational talks to us! Definitely would recommend!
The best professor I've ever had in all my years in college! He makes the lectures fun by including personal stories and breaks down the concepts to make sure we understand it completely. He is there for office hours to help understand more topics if we are confused. He is the reason why I had hope to get good grades in my science classes.
Dr. Melillo was an amazing professor for not overwhelming students. He stuck to lecturing what we needed to know and made sure we knew when we didn't need to memorize something for an exam. His exams as well were more reasonable than other professors and he was generally entertaining.
His lectures are amazing, and he makes sure to tell you what will be on the exam and what to focus on. He wants all his students to succeed!
Wow, honestly so much high praise for Mr. Melillo. Expertly explains topics, makes hard concepts completely understandable, made it so I didn't have to study much since he taught so throughly, kind, funny, open office hours, and the best prof all around. I still go to him for office hours even tho I'm not his student anymore. Down to talk abt life
Best professor I have ever had. He tells you exactly what to study and what not to study. Office hours are so helpful!!! He explains the topics very well.
I recommend Melillo as a professor, you're graded on exams and participation so if you show up and study for the exams you'll do good. The exams are multiple choice and if you study and pay attention during lectures he is really helpful in making the memorization happen. He is good about applying the material to everyday life too!
Dr. Melillo is a very nice guy and gives great lectures. He is very clear about what you need to know for exams and he also gives advice for people who are going into the medical field. His exams are pretty easy as long as you go to class and study. I would definitely recommend him for pathophys.
I had Dr. Melillo for A&P 2 and knew I had to get him again for Pathophysiology. Go to class!!! His lectures are helpful and he breaks down complicated topics. You will never be surprised on exam day. I was a little nervous because the test are case study form. But before each exam he will give you review of some case study questions he will ask.
I had Ryan for BIO201&202 lecture, he was the best teacher for A&P lecture at GCU. If you can get him, GET HIM. He cares so much about his students and gives great feedback in his office hours. He was so good in A&P lecture that I am taking his Patho class next semester. Literally the best teacher ever.
Ryan has been my favorite professor at GCU. His expectations are very clear, lectures are very interesting, and he gives you "brain breaks" in between difficult topics. Me and my friends would always go to his office hours before exams and he will quiz you on the material that you will be tested on. IF YOU CAN TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Professor Melillo is great! He explains the material extremely well. Whenever I had a question I went to his office hours and he would happily explain the topic. He is very straightforward and won't waste your time with material that you don't have to know. The class is not easy but he makes the material easy to understand. Take him!!
Pathophysiology was made to sound difficult and although this class is based on 4 big exams the professor does a great job in explaining the diseases and preparing you for the exams as long as you study of course. Great guy outside of class I recommend going to his office hours to ensure you know material.
Dr.Melillo is not only an amazing professor but he is also an amazing person. He is always looking to help his students in anyway he can. He is very accessible for his students, as he is always in his office. He gives you all the material you will need to succeed and he will tell you where to focus your studying. Go to office hours for help!!
Awesome professor, have never learned as much as I did in this class. Took tough concepts and made them make sense, and clearly cares about his students. He is helpful outside of class, and wants to get to know each student (recommend for letters of rec.) Take this class!
Loved professor Melillo! Had him for bio-202 and bio-322. Patho is a overall a hard class, as it is lots of material, and your grade is dependent on your exam scores. Melillo does a great job explaining everything and he will make it clear what you need to study and know for exams. Did not take attendance but go to every class!!!
Melillo was BY FAR my favorite professor at GCU. He is clear and straight to the point. Yes, patho is a hard course but he made it as easy as he could. He gives great feedback and is very available outside of class if extra help is needed. Definitely would recommend his courses.
Professor Melillo is by far my favorite professor to have. He is very straight to the point on what will be on the exam and does not waste your time by studying concepts you do not need to know. Cannot wait to take him for patho!
Overall great professor. Material in patho is somewhat difficult but he's very clear with his expectations and will not waste your time on irrelevant information. Definitely take his class!
Dr. Melillo is an amazing professor. He is very easy to talk to and is very clear with what he expects you to understand. He is very easygoing and wants the best for his students. I highly recommend taking him!
Professor Melillo gives awesome, meaningful lectures. His lectures is all information that will be on the test, unless he says otherwise. He's very transparent and cares about his students and their future in the medical field. Highly recommend him, if you study his lectures thoroughly you will get an A!
Dr. Melillo by far was my favorite professor, your grade is worth pretty much 4 exams but go to office hours he is so ready to help you with any topic and will even quiz you on questions that he expects you to know for the test. He is very to the point and his lectures are extremely helpful and easy to understand. TAKE MELILLO!!!!!
Melillo is seriously the best anatomy professor in the department. Not only does he give very clear information as to what will be on the test, but he genuinely cares about each of his students in all areas of their lives. He even helped my friend out when she was having issues with counselors at the school. Please please take him!!!
Dr. Melillo's lectures are eye-opening, providing you with knowledge you can apply to for more than just a test. He's very approachable and if you go to his office hours, he'll quiz you. The only grades are participation, done spontaneously, and exams. If you're studying well, you'll get a 98% or up on every test. Amazing teacher and person!
I recommend this professor strongly! I learned lots, while enjoying the class
Solid guy. Interesting class. Exams are straightforward. Mellilo wants you to succeed. Study and you will be fine. I would recommend studying after every class or the material builds up quickly and gets to be both overwhelming and confusing as many diseases share the same signs and symptoms.
If you want to learn A & P and receive a good grade, Dr. Melillo is your man. I thoroughly enjoy his class. The exams are straightforward. Study the material he tells you to, that is the easiest A you'll ever get
Best Professor out there! So funny, and made class really fun! Anattomy is hard but if you listen in class the tests are chill!
he is very personable and will make the lectures fun and engaging. even at 7am he kept the whole class intrigued. you can tell he genuinely cares about each student and will talk with them about their career choices and do everything he can to make sure each student succeeds in his class. would recommend him to anyone
AMAZING professor I could not speak highly enough about him. He makes his lectures clear and deliberately points out concepts you need to know for the exams. If you study his power points and write down what he tells you, you will pass this class with an A. Willing to help his students inside and outside of the classroom.
When I tell you I LOVED taking this class with Dr. Melillo that is an understatement. I thought the material was amazing and very well presented. He will tell you exactly what you need to know and what you do not. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! If you do anything for your grade let it be this. It's SO helpful. If you are in doubt take Dr. Melillo!
Dr. Melillo is the best professor I have taken at GCU! Hes so engaging & his lectures aren't boring. Hes so straightforward & won't test you on things he doesn't say in lectures. He will tell you exactly what you need to know for the exams. He does participation quizzes in the beginning of lectures that provide GOOD review for success in the class.
Great teacher and very Knowledgeable. He always makes class a GREAT time and you won't want to miss. You will genuinely look forward to class. (Pre-med,pre-dental,pre-pt, etc.) TAKE HIM IF YOU VALUE YOUR GPA. You will NOT regret if you take him but you will if you don't! Don't do this to yourself
I loved Melillo and would recommend him to anyone. During lectures he will tell you what you need to know for exams and what you do not need to worry about, so being in class for lectures is very helpful. He also has you fill out review guide questions prior to class for participation. He is a super chill guy and cares about his students. TAKE HIM
Melillo is one of the kindest professors I've had. He made class something to look forward to every day and was very engaging. Very funny guy. If you pay attention to the lectures and write down what he writes down, you will be fine. I wish I had taken him sooner.
Favorite professor ever
honestly the best professor ever. Literally goes through every slide and gives you details rather than just reading the information off the slide. BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER. he needs a raise ASAP!!
Amazing professor! Don't miss an opportunity to be in his class.
Get this guy for whatever class you can. He is really nice and super chill. Has sarcastic humor. Will randomly give motivational talks for the first 30 minutes of class about once a month which is cool. Will help you succeed if you go to office hours. Tells you exactly what you need to know for exams. Half of class gets A's.
Do not be fooled by his good ratings. He will go off every lecture on a random 20-30min tangent that he will somehow get heated about and everyone is class just sits and listens. If you don't start off the year with a good grade he does not care about you. He also doesn't care if you are sick. I would advise to not take him if possible.
Melillo is one of those professors who really only seems to care that people get the information in his class. He's very casual, and that makes his lectures entertaining. His rants are legendary. Don't sleep on the exams tho. They're easy but there's only 4 exams and that's your grade.
I would definitely attend every class. During lectures, he will highlight precisely what you need to know and what to ignore in his PowerPoint presentations, making it really easy to create quizlets and study the correct material. He also adds personality to his lectures, making them enjoyable and easier to sit through. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Melillo is the best! He is definitely one of my favorite professors, and I recommend everyone to take him. Participation matters, so I recommend everyone to go to every class. His lectures are great, and he'll let you know what to focus on for exams. I had him for a 7 am, and he kept the whole class engaged. Take him! You won't regret it!
Seemed nice but I don't like the group quizzes. It made for an awkward environment especially if you don't like the group you are in. I had to drop the class because of this.
Great professor, very engaging when you speak to him. Tests are the biggest grade deciders and are over 100 points each. Participation is group quizzes at beginning of class but he tells you what its on so they're easy. Overall good teacher.
The class can be hard if you make it hard and put 0 effort. Melillo is so easy going and truly cares about his students success. His lectures are way more than just reading off the slides and you can tell he knows what he's talking about. I had him for 9am and hated getting up early but didn't hate going to his class. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
Dr. Melillo is the most caring and supportive professor I have had at GCU. He wants you to succeed in his class and with your studies in general. His lectures are entertaining and he tells you exactly what you need to know for exams. Participation is 5 pts per class based on attendance. The exams are straightforward if you study his slides.
TAKE HIM! He is the best teacher I have had and if you can take him for any class do it. He tells you exactly what will be on the test and his tests are pretty easy. I would take him if It was at 7 am in the morning. His office hours help so much and he is always willing to help. He makes everything so much easier. The best teacher
One of my favorite professors I have ever had. He helps students understand the material and makes it clear which slides will not be tested on. He tells great stories to reinforce concepts. Expect daily group quizzes, for which the questions are available in advance.
Professor Melillo is the best professor at GCU I had him for anatomy 2 and Patho. He makes extremely hard concepts click and he gives you everything you need to succeed in his class.
He had some inappropriate jokes that I don't like, probably just weird humor that Im not into I guess. his tests are in fact not easy. and office hours didn't help much
