He's so awesome! He helps you whenever you need it, and he teaches so well. He covers the topic and encourages class participation, and he's so funny!

Awesome professor. I'd definitely recommend his classes to everyone. He jokes around and does a good job at keeping you interested in subject matter.
He is so funny! And a great professor. He knows how to keep you entertained and in tune with the subject matter. He is awesome!
He was an awesome professor who made class interesting. I'd recommend him for sure!
This class has got to be my favorite class I've ever had in my college career! He made me love history even more than I already do and that's pretty hard to imagine! He is really funny and helped us to learn the significance behind each event so it was more memorable for us. He's awesome!
he is really good and gives a lot of information. he also shows a looney tunes episode at the beginning of every class which is cool. but all he does is lecture the whole period.
Sweetest class ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun class, especially for a boring subject
Paul is so awesome!!! I knew him before I took his class, so this might be a bit biased. However, I didn't know he taught. When I took his class, I was excited. I don't really enjoy History very much, because I struggle with dates and stuff like that, but it was awesome!!! It was just so interesting, not at all boring, and it was so easy if y
I don't really like history, because I'm not that good at it, but I loved this class! I might be bias, I knew him and his wife before I registered (in fact, the class was full and he signed me in!) but I loved history and actually read the book!!! That's weird coming from me! He's so helpful too, and really funny.
He makes History fun to learn by his teaching style.
Best Class ever! So easy! I go everyday and pulled an A...and then my friend never went and still pulled an A. Gives A LOT of extra credit. For the REview day he tells you every single question on the test and if you ask he will give you the answers :)
AWESOME GUY!!!! Class is extremely fun!!
Ryan Paul is amazing!!! History can be a boring subject, but he makes it come to life. The tests are really easy too as he tells you exactly what to study. Other than the tests there are a few enjoyable papers and a ton off awesome lectures! If you take history, make sure you take it from Paul!
Ryan Paul is the best professor ever!! He makes his lectures enteraining and he is very helpful in preparing for tests!
I love Ryan Paul as a Professor! His class is power-point and lecture style, and you take a lot of notes - But he has a great personality and makes class interesting! He explains history in a way that is memorable. His tests are very easy and he tells you everything that will be on the test. They are also multiple choice. Highly Recommend him!
Awesome professor! Makes the subject very fun! highly recommended!
his class is fun be ready to take LOADS of notes. he only does tests so thats kinda suckish. but all around make sure to take your notes and never miss a day.
Paul is hilarious! He uses stories a lot and makes it relatable to everyday life. I only ever used the textbook to brush up before tests. If you show up and take notes, easy A
THE BEST HISTORY TEACHER AT SUU. Since you have to take history i would recomend Ryan Paul! He gives extra credit and tells you exactly what to study for tests
Professor Paul is highly recommended! His classes are easy to follow, he loves the subject he teaches, and is able to keep your attention during the whole lecture. to get an easy A, just go to class EVERY DAY and take good notes. he does reviews for every test and gives a study guide for the final which is a group thing. there are only 4 papers. A+
Professor Paul was the best history professor I have ever had. He doesn't require busy work and all of his assignments have a purpose. I loved this class and it was easy. You can tell he loves teaching and he loves the subject. Overall, this is a great class taught by a great professor, and I learned a lot from him.
Easily the best History class I have ever had. I used to not be that interested in history but after this class I find it a lot more enjoyable.
ONE OF THE BEST HISTORY TEACHERS I HAVE EVER HAD! I was never good at history in high school, and the minute I walked into his classroom, it was like everything made sense. I learned more from him than any other history teacher in my life. He also makes it really fun because he tells history like a story :).
I've always been interested in history and Ryan Paul made it better. He was excited about the things he taught and told history like a story, i.e. he jumped from desk to desk yelling "strike" when teaching us about unions. He was very good at getting the class involved. His assignments are to the point and his tests are easy, if you came to class.
Fantastic teacher, super easy tests, just make sure you are there everyday and take notes!
This is truly the best professor ever! take notes and come to class.
Fantastic class!!! He is a great teacher and keeps history interesting. You don't need the book, at all!
Great class! Very easy and enjoyable.
By far the best history class I've ever taken. Ryan makes the material interesting and fun. Class can get pretty energetic.
He's my favorite professor at SUU. Lectures were interesting and he understands how college students work. Doesn't care if you come to class or not, he's pretty laid-back. If he taught other courses I would take them in a heartbeat.
His lectures are awesome and they can get pretty energetic! The man loves to teach and it shows. Attendance wasn't required but he offers extra credit if you do go. He also had fun (non-mandatory) activities outside of class to learn more about local history and he offered extra credit if you went. If he had other classes I would take them.
He was an awesome professor. I have no interest in history whatsoever, but he made it actually enjoyable. He was funny at times. Expect essays, but they are very easy. Essay are basically turn in and get credit. You'll write four one paged essays and three two paged essays the whole semester. Go to class. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Paul teaches history in a way that students want to learn. I don't like history, but his class was very interesting. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and is very funny in his lectures. Class is optional, but recommended to pass.
His class was hilarious. Everything is explained clearly and in a way that makes you actually want to pay attention.
He gives more extra credit than is needed, and the extra credit is super easy to get if you're willing to put in a little bit of time. He is hilarious and loves History, so it comes alive in his class. The textbook he requires for his class is only $10
Best history class I've ever taken. He sets you up to succeed in his class and offers tons of extra credit opportunities. He's super funny too, I enjoyed going to class.
I loved Ryan Paul. You can tell he really cares about this subject and loves teaching it. Take good notes every day other wise you will be in a world of hurt. I learned so much from him! The only thing I did not love was that he didn't spend a lot of time on WWll. Over all he was a great guy and professor. AND he does offer a lot of extra credit.
I loved Professor Paul. He was an awesome teacher that really helped me understand and enjoy history!
He makes a 7 am class very enjoyable and entertaining. He gives the best lectures I have every heard. I am not a history major, but he made history fun to learn.
This professor is absolutely amazing! The assignments were very straightforward and doable. His lectures were entertaining and I just learned so much from the way he taught. He is funny and it really seems like he wants you to succeed. Many extra credit opportunities.
Ryan is an awesome teacher! He was one of my favorite prof's this semester. I really enjoyed his lectures-he's really passionate about what he teachers. There are a lot of essays, but they're never more than two pages. It's a really easy class to pass-just attend the lectures and take good notes. He gives a ton of extra credit opps too. He's great!
Professor Ryan was a great professor that I would recommend to anyone! The grade was mostly papers and tests, but both are easy. He also offers tons of extra credit.
Professor Paul is one of my favorite teachers! Despite taking his class at 7 in the morning, he always made it extremely fun and interesting. His lectures are very entertaining and he is rather humorous. There were 4 tests, no final, 3 two page papers, and 4 one page papers. Study guides for each test are given and overall pretty dang easy class.
He is a super understanding professor and will work with you in any situation. He wants everyone to get an A in the class and as long as you meet him half way he will do everything he can to help you. He is hilarious and keeps the class interesting. He doesnt give busy work. There isnt a lot of homework and what there is, isnt hard.
Professor Paul is by far one of my favorite professors. He offers extra credit almost every month, he makes lectures fun, and there are only 8 (easy) homework assignments throughout the class. His study guides are very helpful for his exams and he even offers extra credit on them. Youll even get extra credit for going to class too.
He is super real with the students. He knows it is a Gen Ed class so it is pretty basic. He lectures like he is telling a story and gives you a study guide to follow. The study guide goes over what you need for the tests, mostly.
Prof Paul is great. If you put in the work you won't have a hard time getting an A in this class. He gives so much extra credit, I could have gotten a 30% on my final and still gotten an A because of extra credit. If you don't show up to class you won't pass the tests because the tests are directly from his lectures. He gives study guides.
One of my favorite teachers. Even though class was early in the morning I never dreaded going. He does a great job at keeping your attention. Lot's of extra credit opportunities. Tests are based off of the study guide he provides so it is easy to do well in this class if you aren't a slacker.
Best professor ever!! I had him for an 8am lecture and I looked forward to going to class (which never happens). Few power points are used, just him talking. He is an amazing story teller and so funny! He talks fast, so record his voice and write fast. I would be willing to take his class again just for fun!
Honestly an amazing professor. He barely uses slides, using them only for quotes, pictures, and stuff like bills and ammendments. He tells the stories of history with such detail that you can tell he truly loves the topic he talks about, and his class is one of the best I've taken.
Ryan is a really great teacher. His lectures are really intriguing and he makes them fun and has us participate even in a huge class of 40-50 kids. He has study guides for each unit that are very useful for each exam. He has easy assignments and extra credit available to really boost your grade. Show up to class and you'll be fine.
He is such a cool professor and really enjoys what he teaches. His exams are super easy if you pay attention and he gives so many extra credit opportunities. He is super thoughtful and cares about you, would highly recommend.
This man is the best. Even if you're not that interested in history, this man will change that. His lectures are amazing.
Professor Paul is seriously amazing at his job. You can tell hes really passionate about what hes talking about and his class is really enjoyable. Its a relatively easy class with plenty of extra credit opportunities. I definitely recommend taking a course with him
I LOVED Professor Paul's class! His lectures are entertaining and informative. He provides study guides that line up (nearly identically) with the tests and assigns very few assignments. He's a stand up guy that really wants to see his students succeed.
He was a pretty good professor and he did his best to cope with coronavirus and classes going online. I could tell that he was a bit new to online classes but overall it worked out nicely.
Absolutely Fantastic
I loved Professor Paul. His class was super easy and he made it fun. I'm not a huge history person and only took it for a general, but he made it more fun for me! His tests are just like the study guide, so I would suggest printing off the study guide in advance and using it to help you take good notes so you study the right things!!
He's the best teacher there is. I'm not sure how I learned so much in such an easy class. He makes everything so relatable and understandable. Even if you hate history, you'll love his classes.
THE BEST PROFESSOR!! take his class:)
If you have to take 1700 take his class, this is the easiest class to pass and you really do learn. Definitely one of the funniest teachers I met. To top it off there are no essays.
Professor Paul's history class was very informative and enjoyable. Though you did have to study to pass the exams, as long as you studied you did fine. He also offered frequent extra credit opportunities, which were quite nice.
This class was very simple and was an easy A. I have never enjoyed History but this class made it interesting and I actually listened.
I took this online accelerated 7 week course and it was better than expected. There was quite a bit of weekly reading with discussions and two larger projects that were the majority of the grade. I would definitely take a course from Prof. Paul again! He graded assignments and responded to messages quickly. He seems to really care
Never have I ever been so excited to attend an 8am class every morning. Ryan Paul made history come alive, and cared more about what you learned than the grade you got in class. He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed.
This man knows how to make a lecture fun and engaging. He is super funny and so so so laid back. His tests are open note, and open book. If you show up to class, you'll be just fun. Not only that, he gives plenty of chances for extra credit, with minimal effort to achieve it. Super easy A, as well as just being a flat-out interesting class. 10/10
I've never been a history person, but I thoroughly enjoyed his class. He knows his stuff and his lectures are amazing. He personally set aside time for me to come meet with him when I was not able to make office hours, he just genuinely cares. There was a good mix of assignments and exams as well. Over all awesome class and professor.
Fave. Prof. I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and is so passionate about history. Does his best to help you succeed. Super positive and makes classes super interesting. Gives out a reasonable amount of assignments, pretty much just one project, one paper, and discussion participation. Super personable and fun.
My favorite class so far Paul makes class fun and he explaines consepts well.
Do not buy the textbook, it'll be a waste of time and money. Attendance is mandatory, especially because in the class, he'll basically tell you what you need to write down to remember for the exams (which are open book/note). There are very few assignments you'll have to do as long as you attend class.
Great professor. One thing I valued is his "I want you to critically think" mindset. Great way to approach history.
Professor Paul is probably the funniest person on campus. He is also extremely respectful of students and is willing to discuss any issues we might have. His lectures are great, his assignments are limited in number and unlimited in creativity. Definitely the best history professor on campus.
As long as you have good attendance and take notes you'll do great. The study guides are available all semester, so you can just fill it out during the lectures (trust me, this makes the tests SO much easier). There's not too much homework and he offers lots of extra credit. You can find the readings online for free, so no need to buy the textbook.
Easiest class you'll ever take, if you want a class you can sleep in or get other homework done. This is the one to take. Also he's freakin hilarouis
I loved his class. He does a great job covering the material and makes every effort to set his students up to succeed.
He makes history so fun! I actually love history now. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, mainly outside class opportunities. He's fairly accessible outside of class and is fair with grading.
Really liked Professor Paul. Very chill, lecture heavy class with only 4 exams, some quizzes, and a couple movie reviews throughout the semester. Upsides to the class: super laid back and lots of extra credit available. Downsides: extremely test heavy class. In all, an interesting course and an easy A.
Paul is literally my favorite professor I've ever had, he makes history so interesting! I am so excited I got the opportunity to have an educator that is so passionate about his job. Take his class!!! He is always so freaking funny.
I barely went to class and still got an A. He has study guides for the tests, so you don't have to write every little thing done- just what he wants from the study guide. very caring guy, and wants the best for his students. Very knowledgeable. Lectures were fun and interesting. Take history from this guy
Read. He grades harsh. He will accept assignments to look over before they are due to make corrections, but ask good questions because this does not mean you will get a good grade after multiple revisions. You will write a lot for little points. All points matter. This makes it more stressful. I love the topic and it is still hard for me.
He is genuinely a really great teacher. He loves the subject and you can tell he loves what he does. He treats you with respect while also not taking it too seriously. He is hilarious and his lectures are very engaging. He seems like a really good guy. He has been very accommodating. Would definitely recommend
Get ready for the best history class you have ever taken! He comes to class energetic and ready to teach despite it being 8:00 in the morning. He is kind and very understanding when it comes to attendance and course work. Tests are simple and homework is minimal. So worth coming to class early morning on a cold winter day.
While there were lots of readings to do, discussions posts and essays were not too bad. As long as you follow the rubric and write a well thought out paper (without reading the text would be hard to do), the course is easy to do well in.
Professor Pauls class was super easy and I would take it again. Attendance is not mandatory. Exams weren't too bad. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Lectures are very interesting just don't talk or walk in front of him while he is lecturing. I recommenced this class to anyone who needs this credit.
I don't love learning about American history, but coming to this class it felt like I was getting read a story. It was a morning class, I would wake up just because I genuinely thought it was fun to go. He does take-home tests, so that is nice for a busy schedule. He is also the funniest teacher I have ever met. He wears the best shirts.
My favorite class of the semester, he does a very good job at breaking down the timeline of American history. 10/10 would take again.
Came highly recommended, and for good reason. He offered extra credit and had very entertaining lectures.
Professor Paul was a super cool professor, he genuinely cared for his students. I attended class at 9am, and Kurt was the easiest early classes to go to. Super funny guy, and makes lectures very interesting. Final grade is test heavy, but earning an A is very achievable. Attendance is not mandatory, lectures are in-class only. I highly recommend!
Ryan Paul was one of my favorite professors. I really appreciated his teaching style. He was professional and always seemed very prepared for lectures. I usually don't find history interesting, but I LOVED this class. He prepares you well for tests. He knows his students. He is funny. Nothing but good things for Professor Paul.
Overall I feel like he's a cool guy. I had him at 8 in the morning and I probably would have enjoyed the class more if it wasn't so early. He teaches in a really fun and engaging way that makes you want to know more about history.
By far the best history teacher I have ever had. History is not my thing but Prof. Paul made it so I was never stressing about my grade. Offers extra credit and its easy and way worth it.
Normally, I hate history, but Professor Paul made it so interesting to learn about. He also gives many extra credit opportunities, and his lectures are very entertaining! I would take him again!
Ryan Paul was such a funny professor, he was very understanding when things would come up in your life, and was down-to-earth with his comments and emails. Not much homework, just remember the readings and movies that are required for the tests, they are mentioned once or twice, then you are responsible for getting them watched/read for the test.
I took the History 1700 class online. The class was very fun and I would recommend this class to anyone. He was very nice and a really light grader.
Ryan Paul was one of the funniest professors I've ever had. There were a lot of easy Extra Credit opportunities. Trust me just take History with him, even if it's an 8am, it's definitely worth it.
Professor Paul is so good at teaching and telling stories, his lectures are interesting and he explains things very well and it is easy to follow along. Easy to do well in his class as he is incredibly understanding of situations and he has lots of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Paul makes history lectures engaging and fun. The class is test-heavy, but there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. Unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Attending class is a must to do well.
Professor Paul is actually amazing! His lectures made learning about history fun! He has study guides to help you know what to take notes on, but also make sure you pick up on his comments "This will be on the test." You'll have some reading assignments and movies where you'll need to take notes, but you're told what to look for.
This professor is a great storyteller, which is one of the best skills a history professor can have. His lectures are engaging, and he has a fun sense of humor. It's easy to pay attention in his classes, even for someone who normally has trouble focusing. He is also a very kind person in general. You won't regret taking classes from him.
Professor Paul is a great guy and obviously knows his stuff. If you want an easy A, take his class! He really appreciates when students are actively listening, engaging in class content and attending lectures so make sure you just show up and you'll be just fine! FYI there were a lot of at home readings and movies which was a bit time consuming.
