Ryan is the best professor. He is also a lab manager at FSCJ. He is very fair and an excellent professor
He's a very good professor. Very chill, he's always willing to help. So far I like his class. The work is not too much. labs are sorta interesting but he helps you through them. Lectures are long and boring but he maks it fun and lets you take breaks. I recommend him :)
Not helpful at all. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying the textbook and struggling. He offers no reviews and when the class asked for one he gave one that was 4 pages. At the top of the review it said not intended for use on exam. He made it clear his lectures would not help. Be prepared to struggle.
He's an amazing teacher! He's extremely informative and very excited about his class. His labs are fun and educational. If you have an interest in the subject matter then you'll enjoy the class. He does expect you to learn and know the material. You'll get an A if you pay attention and do the work.
Lecture consisted of a powerpoint. He talked through the powerpoint, but did not teach the material. He stated that the material on the power points was not on the exams. (so basically you teach yourself from the book and don't have any preparation for the exams.) The exams are extremely hard. Lab was easy, but it will not be enough save your grade
Professor Sessions was easy. Gave a lot of extra credit and was extremely helpful. He met with me on more than one occasion and I made As on all of his tests. Would recommend this course to others.
Prior to taking this class I was terrified of Biology! Professor Sessions is an amazing teacher who respects you as a person and really gets you to understand what biology is all about. He has renewed my faith in teachers who really care. P.S. Quizzes will be hard, so study or else, and don't cheat!
Excellent professor, laid back, and funny. He gives you notes that you can print out in advance of the class period. As long as you study its an easy A. I highly suggest you take him.
He did everything possible to help his students with the class material. He was available and was always prepared for class. Always came to class with a great attitude which was nice. His class was really hard, but he was a great teacher. The only thing I would recommend would be more time reviewing material .
I took environmental science and enjoyed every minute of it. His tests are hard but he makes it very easy to study for them so that you learn whats on it rather than only memorize and eventually forget the content. He also made the content really fun and interesting and my class has had some really cool discussions. I recommend Prof. Sessions 100%
Professor Sessions is VERY laid back. The relaxed environment makes learning much easier. Labs are not too hard, quizzes can be tricky, so review the lab several times before class. With all that being said, I would recommend Professor Sessions. He is ALWAYS willing to assist if you need it.
He did get off topic and would talk over my head and in a circle. If u go through the pp n write down little things he says its helps clarify a bit. Do the study guides he gives a lot of Extra Credit. And he grades very easily. Put the effort in and study. The tests are basically the study guides.
He gives a ton of extra credit. He very laid back and as long as you do his study guides you will basically pass the tests as long as you do well on the labs/lab quizzes as well. He takes some getting use to because he talks in circles but he is overall a good teacher.
Sessions is such a laid back professor. He does his job, he teaches, and teaches well at that. He has no problem stopping in the middle of a lecture to answer questions. He gives sooo much extra credit that it's hard not to pass. Just do your work, study, do the labs, and you'll breeze through.
PROFESSOR SESSIONS IS AN EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT MAN. GRADING FOR THE LAB PORTION OF THE CLASS WAS MORE THAN FAIR, AND HE ALLOWS THE LABS TO BE EMAILED TO HIM. ATTENDANCE REALLY ISN'T AN ISSUE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM FOR THE LAB REQUIREMENT.
Most laid back professor ever, extremely easy class. There is NO WAY anyone should fail as long as you maintain the work. Gives lots of extra credit, and is extremely intelligent. The labs are easy, and the exams should be easy as long as you COMPLETE AND STUDY the study guides provided. 100% Recommend Sessions!
Professor Sessions is one of the hardest teachers I have ever taken. I am struggling to get a better grade and pass his class. His lectures are long and doesn't really explain well for you to understand. He provides study guides for each exam and you can receive extra credit for them but nothing on the guides are on the test. READ! READ! READ!
Great class and great professor. Prof. Sessions presents the material clearly and is very knowledgeable. His tests are not very difficult and you do the study guide. I would recommend.
Sessions is a great teacher. He cares that his students learn biology and walk away with the basic foundation they need to succeed in their higher level courses. Biology is not easy and requires studying. If you don't want to study, don't take biology. If you want a great biology teacher, you should take him. Lots of extra credit and study guides
Quiz every wednesday. Hard class, only one A. I was like you. Searching for a class. I saw he got a lot of good reviews. Save yourself. I have gotten an A in every class but this one. If you take him, you will be very sorry. Oh yeah, and he does not tell you what is on the test!!!!!!!!! His theory is survival of the fittest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrific professor. Always on time and willing to help. Met with him several times during office hours and made high grades on the exams. I had to read but the course was fair and if you are willing to spend 5 or 6 hours studying per week then an A is likely.
This was a great class. I learned a lot and the class was interesting. I would recommend taking Prof. Sessions.
Great course packed with applicable information for environmental science and hazardous materials regulations.
this was a challenging fun course, I learned a lot!
Super cool guy. Very clear material for exams with lots of extra points. Would be difficult not to pass. You'll receive full credit on most labs and lab quizzes just for showing up and participating. He teaches what you need to know and makes it interesting. Would take again.
I took the BioLab as a standalone, for an 8-week 1 credit hour class, he expects 1-2 lab modules per week, each requiring several hours of work and preparation. Professor is VERY unclear at times as to what is expected on a project. Additionally, the book you have to buy is from FSCJ only and is just poorly photocopied pages in a 3-ring binder.
Professor Sessions is a great teacher, he goes over everything in detail that will be on the test so there are no surprises. He is funny and makes class actually fun, the labs are great too. Be ready for quizzes though. Would definitely take again and would recommend.
I took bio 1 with him and got an A. Then took bio 2 with him and earned another A. It's biology, so of course you have to know the material but he is very thorough and helps however he can (e.g., he provides study guides and reviews for exams). I found his bio1 class to be easier than bio2. Would recommend to others, don't miss out.
All the information is given, you just have to put in the effort. Grade is dependent on the tests. Four tests (multiple choice) and one final. He teaches the material very well. A great prof, explains things very well and is very laid back. Answers all questions clearly. You just have to give the effort. Definetly take his class, you'll learn
I took this Biology Lab as a stand alone 1 credit hour lab class years after taking the actual Bio class. I was very nervous about not passing. Prof. Sessions made it easy and fun. I am NOT science major but this material was understandable and he was very lenient about accepting late work. Highly, highly recommend esp if you struggle with science
Loved taking biology with Professor Sessions!! The lectures are long and there are alot of notes but pay attention and you will be fine. He's very approachable so dont be afraid to ask questions. Awesome professor. Definitely would take again
I won't lie, the test are tough but its pretty much impossible to fail his class. Yes, attendance does matter but he drops the lowest quiz, lowest test, and lowest lab. The labs are simple and easy to understand. He is a little boring on the lecture side but he is a great easy professor. I failed every test but one and still got an A. RECOMMEND !!
Professor Sessions is a good Biology teacher. I think he is hilarious for the most part and his grading is really great! It seems like he almost grades for completion which is a plus if you need the extra points on the Study Guide.
I am studying biology as my major and I could not have picked a better professor. Sessions and Walker are both great (took bio classes w/ both), but Sessions is the man. His grading is very easy-going and tests are a bit difficult. Just read the chapters a couple times and you will be good to go.
I loved Professor Sessions! I'm a Bio major so this class was very interesting and I got A's and B's on tests. You must read the chapters. His lectures don't go over everything but he gives you 10 extra points if you turn in the study guide that he provides for each test. Corny jokes. Loves soccer.
The class was pretty difficult, but not too bad. This is a college course so it should be rigorous. Professor Sessions was easy and made it clear what we had to do. There was no study guide, but he did give you notes. It was up to you to read the chapters for the test, which are super tough.
If you're a sci major and really need to know bio, I'd recommend someone else. He doesn't teach you the material too well so expect to read each ch to understand. Quizes are easy A's, accepts latework, hw's graded for completion, and tests aren't too bad (lots of them). Overall, easy A. BUT, if you really need to know bio, PLEASE take some else.
Great professor. I'm a Bio major planning on transferring to a 4 year college and I believe he helps students like myself prepare for upper Bio and science courses. His class has a lot of lectures, quizzes, labs, and exams but you can drop one of each. It was a semi- tough class but doable and I felt that I learned a lot.
I got an A in this class but it had to be by the skin of my teeth. The entire class was spent taking notes with little time to absorb the information given. Tests were straight out of the notes, but it was still challenging. Prof Sessions is very smart & funny. Just wish that there was more time spent interacting to teach the subject.
He goes very fast in class, it wasn't surprising to do 3 chapters in one day. It was hard to absorb so much material being thrown at you, but does give you two weeks after lecture before a test to study. He has study guides already made that you just need to answer and they help a lot on the tests, you also get 10 points on test for completing them
I had no previous science class before. It says it's a, "beginner class for biology". This class is really great, and the professor wants you to pass! Just show up to class and participate in the labs. He does open book quizzes during labs! I failed 3 tests, but he made final a study guide! passed with a C
Online professors are typically less engaged with their students, but this professor literally did nothing. There was no lecture, no powerpoints, no notes, so study guide - nothing. He literally said, read the entire textbook and you can be tested on everything. I got the highest grade on the midterm. It was a 64% And that wasn't alarming to him.
Great professor would love to take him for Bio 2 . He does give ten extra points for study guide if you do them. Very easy professor on top of telling corny jokes best Science Professor I ever had.
As long as you do all assignments you'll be fine. The tests are long and hard but the practice quizzes(that aren't counted towards your grade) help.
I took Professor Sessions online Bio. In the class, there were no powerpoints, just a simple outline of the chapter. The labs could be very confusing and unclear. My husband who is an attorney helped me. For the midterm and exam, the questions were pooled from a number of questions and he could not provide a study guide.
The professor overall was great. The labs were easy and he helped if you asked. There was a quiz after every lab which was easy. The lectures were a little difficult for me to understand maybe because i didnt actually read the book. Which is a "no-no". the study guides give you 10 extra points towards your test grade. The test was the hardest part.
I have never had such a hard class before. You need to have taken chemistry before you take this class. His lectures are vague and you will be left behind if you don't attend his class or don't take notes. Reading the book is mandatory in order to get a descent score and his test have little to nothing to do with his study guides.
I took Bio 2 with Sessions. He is straight forward and gives pretty blunt advice if asked - which is refreshing. You will have to work in this class. Do the study guides and get 10 EC points. The tests can be difficult, but if you read the chapters and do the study guides you should be fine. The dissections at the end of the term are awesome.
His lectures were straightforward.
If you are not a science major skip this guy, if you are a science major I highly recommend (he will tell you this your first day of class). The lectures are simply regurgitated book notes so prepare to teach yourself the basics, but plan to be tested in-depth. I highly recommend taking Chem1 before this class.
The group projects are the labs so make sure you have a good lab partner. Mr. Sessions is a really cool guy, his lectures aren't extremely thorough, more the high points of the chapters so you need to make sure you read your book on your own! The tests are pretty hard but his study guides give you points towards the tests which is awesome.
I took this professor over summer and it was like having a part time job. He is very specific with what he wants and really makes you work for the grade. The labs are extensive and there are a couple labs each week on top of pretty lengthy homework. The tests are pretty specific and even if you study they can still be hard. I would not recommend.
The content is very in depth and difficult and you have to read the text book to understand it fully. He does have a lot of extra credit though and he is super nice if you need help.
He is an awesome teacher. He gives you extra credit opportunities on the test along with the additional ten points,if you do the study guide. His labs and lab quizzes are easy as long as you do what he tells you. Read the book to pass the test. Overall, youre going to learn a lot in this class. Good luck!
Awesome teacher, really cares about your grade. The labs are super easy but the tests are extremely hard. I reccomend taking his class in person because he only gives study guides to his physical classes. I failed the midterm and final and still got a B.
Bio with Professor Sessions was clear-cut. Minimal work, but reading-heavy. There are weekly lectures and labs, so attendance is necessary. There's an occasional discussion board and multiple exams (but no final). Extra credit if you do the study guide, but the exams tend to go deeper than the study guide questions, so understanding material is key
Online Bio 2 w/him is a bad idea. There are no lectures, hw, quizzes, ppts, or study guides, which means you'll never have any idea what to study. (He says these things don't work for online courses). Take this course in person, the course material isn't hard by far, but his lack of involvement in the online course makes it an unnecessary headache.
Professor Sessions wants you to do well and understand Biology. There is a ton of reading and the book is very dry, long chapters. The tests are hard, the labs and discussions are engaging and interesting. I didn't do well on the tests, I got full points on everything else and ended up with a "B." His answers emails lightning fast and will help you
One of my favorite professors. Lectures helped me understand the material so you should attend.
This was probably the most unorganized and difficult class I have ever taken. They are even making me pay $25 to take a midterm. DO NOT sign up for this professor. Also I would not recommend taking this class online. This professor is god awful at explaining the simplest of things.
Professor Sessions was Great. I took him one day a week. Class was half lecture and half Lab. Do the study guide it will save your grade if your struggling. its a extra 10 points to each test. He drops the lowest quiz and test grade. Labs are easy and done as a group. Not much Homework. make sure to read the book. take notes in class.
Great guy, tough tests that are not the same as the study guide. pay attention in the lectures.
Hes a nice guy, but the class is crazy hard. Use the book to your advantage. Dont rely on the study guide for tests because they are nothing like the tests at all. Pay attention in class. He gives +10 for the study guide on every test if you do them. Labs are really easy. Dont take this class if you dont have to.
Professor sessions is really nice and easy going. He isn't a hard grader and drops the lowest quiz, test, and lab. The class itself was extremely unorganized. There are 5 tests and they're pretty tough. The study guide doesn't help much but it is extra credit if you do it. Participate and do all your work and you should pass the class just fine.
This was a challenging class for me. I am not all that great in science. However, he did not do a good job of teaching or explaining the concept. We did more writing than learning. Notes are extremely long, he do not teach in my opinion. He talks and writes what he said. The study guide is not helpful AT ALL, so many questions worth only 10 points
I love this guy. This is the only class I liked this semester. Hes just a goat. I would take him again. We have a lot of labs but if you do well he will give you a 20/20. The tests are hard if you dont study. He will tell you during lectures what to pay CLOSE attention to for the tests. He responds quick, good sense of humor.
Highly recommend he is awesome!
He is knowledgeable but isn't able to communicate to students well. His lectures are forever long with droning monologues on inconsequential trite.
Nothing felt clearly discussed. As a person, he is knowledgeable on the topics; however, he is not clear when explaining anything. I have taken biology classes throughout high school and felt confident in my understanding, yet when I left his lectures I felt more confused than I was prior to the lecture. Only got an A because of the textbook.
If you want a professor who is extremely empathetic and great at teaching Ryan is your guy.
Professor Sessions is awesome! The topic is tough and will require some studying outside of class, but he will happily work with you to understand an answer. He's laid back and mostly grades for participation/completion outside of exams. Typically you have 1 lab to finish per class (which you can get done in class the day it's due) each week.
Theres not much assigments but the assignments do require a lot of time. He assigns things each week so you cant really move ahead in this class. 3 exams. about 2-4 assignments a week. He assigns the harder stuff towards the end of the class. Easy to contact and very helpful. Overall easy biology class
He was a pretty good teacher! You NEED to attend his classes to pass though. I ended up taking his lecture class once a week, he talks fast when going through his lectures so pay attention and try your best to write fast. Also do the study guides and definitely read the textbook he provides online, it's gonna help a ton.
I decided to take this course because he seemed like an ok professor. However, the communication is awful and with every assignment, it looks like he doesn't care about his student's passing. He released a lab, discussion, and lecture the day before it was due. I'm sure he is a great professor in person, but I would never take this course online.
The lectures are so long and he goes through the material really quickly. Studying is so important, you really have to take a deep dive into the study guides, look up every question on YouTube. He also gives 10 points extra credit if you do it. The labs were fun and mostly easy, graded on participation. 1 Test dropped among a few other things.
Professor Sessions explains everything in an easy to understand format. This class is lecture heavy whether in the classroom or online, and reading is required (he provides a free online textbook). He is super fair in his grading, and extra credit is always available. Attendance is necessary as labs are required. 20/10 recommend his class
Professor Sessions was a pretty laid back teacher. The grade is mostly tests (5 and lowest gets dropped), labs, and discussions. He gives study guides for the test that are also 10pts EC on the test. His lectures are fast but recorded and the discussions are pretty engaging. Tests are hard but the other grades balance everything out.
Prof. Sessions is the best professor I've had in an online environment. Communication and expectations are clear, he grades ON TIME and actually uploaded the syllabus early (not one single professor in my 4yr program has done either of these things--and this is my final semester). Lots of homework, but no second guessing. Highly recommend.
I took Professor Sessions online anatomy 1 lecture and lab. I do not have enough positive things to say about him. Many people I know have trouble with this course so I was worried however this prof made the class manageable. SUPER caring and answers emails fast.
Prof. Sessions was just smooth! He related science to current real-world activity that aided in retention. I took the 7-week course. Don't be on the fence take his class, because of him I want to take more in-person lectures.
I took Professor Sessions for A&P 1. He was great, he is very detailed and knowledgeable on the human body in all aspects. Beware though, his exams are TOUGH. You have to study and fully understand the concepts of the chapters or you will fail. He writes very fast so it is hard to keep up. I would take him again because like I said, he is great.
He should not be teaching online. Human A&P 1 should be A&P 2. He didn't explain what any of the tests were on, his email response wasn't helpful. Tests were SPELLING of various bones. Not multiple choice. Not things like Maxilla or Frontal bone. It was detailed like Supraorbital foramen, Posterior ethmoidal foramina, and Lamina papyracea.
He lectures fast but other than that he's a 10/10 professor, he's very caring about his students
Clueless. Never again.
This was a tough online class. There were no lectures. Tests were awful. So much fill in the blank, must focus on spelling. Final was not questions reflecting main concepts of the content of the semester. I feel like his tests set you up for FAILURE! also when questions were asked his responses were sarcastic and short rather than helpful.
I don't think he's a terrible professor, but I personally had a very hard time with his exams. Also wasn't the biggest fan of his fast teaching style. I felt like I could barely absorb anything in the lecture. I think he also doesn't always come off the best towards students with his snarky responses but I won't fault him for his personality.
I personally really enjoyed his lectures. He does lecture fast but he gives you the opportunity to ask him to repeat to explain and write notes. The day before the test he goes over the most important concepts. He doesn't give out a lot of homework. If you put in the effort you can get an A. Don't be lazy.
If you are lazy you won't pass. I don't really understand the negative reviews. He's a really pleasant guy and if you show up and put in the effort you will pass. News flash people you have to study for exams. I never made less than a B on any of the Exams. All quiz's were online. He gave us a study guide for all exams. I would take again.
He test over his lectures but post them all online so you can catch up. Attendance is mandatory to complete the labs but will work with you if you miss a class. Great professor I wish he taught A&P 2.
He's my favorite professor on campus!
I started this class not doing the best but by the end i was more successful so i ended with a 75. wouldve been higher if i studied more in the beginning. Long lectures but hes a pretty nice guy, Exams weigh heavy but sometimes he would let us bring an index card of notes. everything on paper besides the quizzes and he doesnt grade harsh on those.
He is quite a fast lecturer- will answer questions of course but be prepared to write quickly! Overall loved his class! Make sure to study extra and watch and read other lectures on the studies while taking his class. He's great when it comes to certain exams-lets you bring an index card with material you've jotted down.
